Really good dishes and buffet on a sunday is $10 They have punjabi curry, chicken tikka, spinach paneer, fruity "ras malai" ice cream, rice pudding etc. I would definitely come back!

I really wanted to give this place more stars. The food was pretty good, nothing that special, but still pretty good. A little over priced. It seemed we got a bad waitress too. I only noticed 2 people waiting on the tables. A male & a female. The male seemed like he was very busy, running around getting drinks, taking orders, always doing something. The female it seemed would just wonder around ignoring us and then dissappear for 10 minutes. When we were first seated, she asked if we wanted to eat from the buffet. I told her I didn't know and that I'd like to see a menu. She didn't come back with a menu for about 15 minutes. We nearly left. It's not like she was busy either. There were only about 4 or 5 tables of people eating, and the male waiter was taking care of most of them. She hadn't taken our drink orders either so we just sat there wondering if we'd been forgotten about. But listen, don't let my bad experience sway you from visiting. If you love Indian food, this place has good authentic Indian food. It just wasn't a good enough overall experience to make me drive out of my way to be a repeat customer. Maybe I'll return if I'm ever in the area with friends who're wanting Indian food. Not recommended for families with younger kids that aren't willing to try things that look "icky".

I love Indian food and I love their saag paneer! They usually offer coupons and are very kind when we have gone there to eat. Normally we go for the buffet, but if that's not available, we order a couple entrees and split everything....large portions!

Very good food and nice, comfortable decor. I've had better Indian food at a few places - but Amar is definitely one of the better restaurants. I had the Dal, Chicken Tikka. Lamb Matar, Naan, Poori, and Gulab Jamun. All were excellent. The breads were less greasy and more flavorful than most Indian restaurants. The Chicken Tikka was thinly sliced and had a richer flavor and was better than many other restaurants. All in all, I recommend Amar to anyone looking for good Indian food in the Dayton area.

Fantastic food and great service. Hit the lunch buffet with young kids, they devoured it!

Our favorite Indian restaurant ever! We take out-of-town guests here too, and they all say they wish they had an Amar in their town. GREAT food!

I haven't been to India yet, but my love for Indian food has taken me all around Dayton. And I'd have to say, Amar is the one that keeps me coming back. First of all, I love the atmosphere. It's classy, but in a charming and unique way. The icicle string lights, the pictures of India hanging all around, the snazzy carpeting, the always-friendly dudes in turbans- I love it all! Every time I go here, I force myself to try something new but am always tempted by my undying love for their Chicken Tikka Masala (seriously, it's amazing). I'm glad that I have, though, because I still have yet to come across a dish I didn't like. I do always have to get garlic naan though, which is the best of the best when it comes to their breads. Simply put, EVERYTHING here is delish. If you love Indian food, you'll love this place.

Their lunch buffet is well known, however, their menu is even better. Order "off-the-menu" if you are in the mood for some more exotic offerings.

Wow, found this place while on travel via Yelp, really glad I did. I had the vegetable sampler and mushroom lamb. Both were delicious and reasonably priced ($6 and $15 respectively). The lamb had a nice thick tasty sauce, and you choose how spicy on a 1-5 scale. Plenty of room, quiet, and great service. I noticed a lot of non-Asians getting takeout, and 50/50 split of dining in people as well. Highly recommended, especially for OH.

Very good lunch. Still not a big fan of the food in the Dayton area. This was the best Indian I have had in the area. Not quite "great" compared to some Indian food I have had elsewhere. But, actually pretty good. Chicken Curry and Chicken TM tasted almost identical. Soup was good and Paneer was the best in the meal. Certainly worth $8 for lunch. Want to stop in on a weekend and get fresh food off the menu and a beer. Hopeful that is even better.

Quality has seemed to drop over the years on my favorite dish, Saag Paneer. I could hardly eat it last time I ordered it! Chicken Makhani is still pretty good though,

This is where I fell in love with Indian food. Was the first experience in an Indian restaurant several years ago and I recently went again soon after moving back to the area. Try the vindaloo if you like spicy, try the korma if you like sweet. Those are my two favorites. Also, get some Naan to help tie it all together.

Amar, once I make my millions of dollars after finally learning to understand what the numbers mean next to stock market symbols, I will ask you to come to me in whatever city I may then be living. I have so missed you during my years away, and I thank the heavens that you wait for me to return. In other words, I like this place. My love affair with Amar began one day in 2000 when my first boyfriend finally convinced me that the ramen noodles that I so loved did not count as a foreign food. He took me to Amar to experience my first Indian meal-- with thousands more to come. Excluding a homemade meal a friend's grandmother once made, I have not yet found a better Indian restaurant. The buffet is delicious, surely, but I'm a traditionalist: I always order from the menu, and always the same chicken mater, level 3. However, I have had the chance to try other dishes-- vindaloo, korma, makhani-- and I've not been disappointed. It's gone so far that once I finally moved to a city within a drive's distance from Dayton, I make sure to pick up from Amar before driving back so that I have a good meal to look forward to. In fact, I've converted a few Chicagoans using this very method! Not only is the food delicious, but the people are wonderful. Speedy but friendly, I love coming in to chat. I've noticed that Amar's employees act similarly with other regulars, there are quite a few regulars. They now know my voice when I call. I tell you, my boyfriend's a little worried about my love for this restaurant, and perhaps rightly so. I'm not sure what I would do if forced to choose between the two. Thankfully, it will never come to that, as he too is now an avid fan. The only complaint I've had thus far is the price range: it's a bit on the steep end. However, it won't keep me away-- it's worth it. See you next week, Amar!

There are some pretty good Indian food places in Dayton, but this place reigns king. They have the best Indian food without a doubt. The atmosphere is excellent and the service is amazing. They have a really full menu with the usuals and some stuff I have never heard of. Really great place 5/5

I just moved to Dayton in August and so far, this is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been already several times. I think the lunch buffet is good, but busy, and the dinner is also wonderful. I also love that they serve a wide range of alcoholic beverages, so you can wash down your favorite beautifully colored food with some lovely wine, the color of your choosing. I should start this noting that I love Indian food. I have always had good service when here. Sometimes the servers aren't the chattiest, but they have always been prompt, responsive, and kind. I like that. Saag paneer isn't my favorite dish usually, but here it really is my favorite. I usually go for Navratan Korma, but they have the Saag Paneer (or maybe it was just saag) at the buffet, and I really love it. Best I have ever had. I love their Korma too, but I have to order that--I have, and I will again. I don't think you can go wrong with anything though. I am not always the most adventurous eater. I find something I like or love and stick with that. Here, though, I have gone off the beaten path many times, and I have never been disappointed. I would try near anything on the menu, and I am certain I would be happy with it. Plus they end the meals with those candy-coated fennel seeds (i think that's what they are), and those are awesome.

After reading all of the gleaming recommendations on Yelp!, I decided to give this place a try. I decided to give their lunch buffet a try-- and usually a good way to taste a cross section of a restaurant's menu. It started out downhill when I arrived, I was standing there for quite a few minutes in front of the waitress-- literally in front of her with no acknowledgement. After she finished spacing out, she told me to sit down. I waited for awhile longer staring at the wall before she came by to ask me if I wanted the buffet and took my drink order. She disappeared again and left me to take on the buffet table. Still a little miffed about the spacy hostess and the lack of attentiveness on her part, I marvelled at the wonderful buffet that was waiting before me. As advertised on their website, there were 3 vegeterian dishes, 3 non-vegeterian, and dessert. If you could sum up their buffet in two words it would be chickpeas and chicken--all which is very good. Though all chicken, the Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and the Curry chicken were all quite good---just too much chicken in one setting. I would have liked to see other meats like lamb--even if it meant a little bit of a price premium. Naan bread was plentiful and for the first time, I could have as much of it as I wanted. The dessert selection of the buffet scored another positive for the meal. There was the Kheer, a rice pudding lightly flavored with coconut---not too sweet but just right. There was a derivative of the Kheer that used condensed milk and very thin noodles---strange but delightful. Buffet and a glass of water led to a very fulfilling meal of $10--a bargain for homemade cuisine. When paying for my bill the same female server asked me if I needed change for a tip---a surprising shameless hint at scoring a gratuity and very uncharacteristic of the Indian culture. Minus the spacy, shameless, and inattentive server, this would have been a 4 star experience. Amar would be wise to pick who receives his customers. The food is first rate and pretty authentic from what these reviews say and the number of Indian and Pakistani customers who eat here. I will try Amar India again, but not before I make my round to the other Indian buffets in the Dayton area. Hopefully, I will encounter better service at these other establishments.

My favorite Indian restaurant in the area and in the top five overall. Great food, with a large selection of tasty vegetarian entrees. They also have a great selection of Naan, appetizers and other delicacies. I suggest the Saag Paneer and pakoras.

We recently moved to the area and this was the first indian place we have tried. My wife and I got the chicken tikki masala and two orders of garlic naan to go tonight and it was plenty of food for the two of us! The flavor was pretty good. We got a 3 on the spicy scale from 1-5. There wasn't much heat. We'll probably bump it up to a 4 or 5 next time. The garlic naan was pretty basic, nothing special. I was hoping for some fresh, buttery garlic and maybe cilantro on top, but no luck. We might try another place or two in the area, but we definitely will come back to Amar...maybe to dine in next time.

great food, large buffet. Been here a few times and this time around, felt like Amar India needed a review from me. To start off, for those looking for a large meal, buffet is the way to go. The amount of food is quite a bit and as far as I'm aware, its only available during lunch hours (11:30 - 2pm i think). This is also a good way to get started with Indian food as your going to be able to sample a wide array of items from meat, vegetarian and appetizers. The quality of food at the buffet has generally been consistent in terms of quality of ingredients. If I had to say something, as a person with roots in India, those Pakora's need some improvement. Everything else is good for those who like mild food. Now, if you are not going for a buffet, there are other options on the menu. I have had various dishes from the vegetarian side and a few times when I have come for those meal, their spices have been VERY inconsistent. One time I asked for spicy 4/5 and got a mild meal, other time I got a VERY spicy meal. This can present a problem to a person who cannot tolerate spicy food. I cannot truly recommend a specific dish, but from the ones I've had, I would easily repeat on the following items: DAL MAKHANI BASANT PANEER (very fattening dish, but most similar to having something like butter chicken, only vegetarian) Another option for dinner is the Thal, there is a VEGETARIAN THAL and also a NON-VEG THAL which go from $15 - 17. I'm sorry, but in any other city, these are $10 max for the same portions. Its great food, but the prices are just all over the place here. The interior of the place is clean, however the place could use a make-over. Another note, the local paper apparently prints coupons as I have seen some people coming into the buffet and paying much less. This is perhaps why its full. Just a heads up if your a local that has access to the paper. I wish i could get access to this coupon.

Don't let my "average" or "A-OK" rating deter you. I take restaurant rating serious. The is not an "as good as it gets" Indian restaurant; and I do not feel it merits "I'm a fan" rating either. I see it as a "good" restaurant, however that option that does not exist, so I select "A-OK." Service was very good but the food was just average. I rank Indian food on a couple of staples: samosa, naan bread, rice and the quality of sauces and spices. Average. I have had better. Nevertheless, go, dine and enjoy, but realize this diner sees Amar India as an average, suit-down India restaurant.

My husband and I adore this place. It is probably the best Indian food I've had, even though I know there are other spots in the Dayton area I still need to try. It's hard to pass this place up, though. My favorite is the Chicken Korma, though the Tikka Masala and the Biryani dishes I've had are also wonderful. The Vindaloo is also a real treat. We get it as hot as possible and then couple it with one of the creamier dishes (with a milder spice) for balance. The lunch buffet is also very plentiful and affordable, with a variety of dishes that are all delicious. You really can't go wrong with it. Prices and service are also spot on.

This has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Dayton. If you're trying it for the first time I recommend going to the lunch buffet. The buffet is very reasonably priced and offers you a taste of several different kinds of dishes. They always have Chicken Curry, Tandoori Chicken, Saag, Nan, Lentil Soup, and desert in the buffet. Other dishes will vary. Most of the dishes on the buffet are mildly spiced unless otherwise indicated by the sign. My favorite dinner entree is the Chicken Korma, creamy and amazingly spiced goodness. It's really great. I also really enjoy the Kashmiri Nan with it, which is their bread with dried fruit and nuts. Use the nan to sop up the yummy korma sauce. Other favorites are the Saag Paneer and Aloo Nan. When ordering, you choose your preferred spice level from 1 (mild) to 5 (very spicy). Make sure you check out their website for coupons before you go. Or if you live in the area, their coupons are almost always found in the dailies.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place... I always order nan and lamb curry...spice level four please! I should go for five, but I'm chicken. Well, lamb... In all seriousness, this is a wonderful Indian restaurant with a very friendly staff. The food is always fresh tasting and usually served quickly. I was there the other night after not being there for almost a month (or perhaps more?). One of the guys there asked me where I had been. It's nice to be recognized. :) I highly recommend this place, but I suppose I can't say anything more than the lamb curry is excellent, since that's all I eat.

I'm from San Francisco, and travel to New York, London, and Washington DC for work and have had A LOT of Indian food. As such, I have to scale down a bit, because in the universe of Indian restaurants all over the world, this place is not perfection, so I cannot give it 5 stars. To be fair though, it IS very very good, and probably the best that you can find in such a suburb as Miamisburg, Ohio. As such, I scale up to 4 from a 3.5 stars. My colleagues and I dined here on a week night. The place was mostly empty, so we had our doubts. However, the food was delicious and exceeded expectations and overcame initial doubts (Indian in Miamisburg, Ohio?). We got a couple of naan breads, vegetable biryani (slightly wet, but still fluffy), chicken tikka masala, lamb, paneer, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I also got a side of onions and lemon. Overall, the bill was a bit over $100 for four people, including drinks. Not a bad deal and very satisfying. Pros: delicious authentic Indian fare which includes a spicy onion chutney dipping sauce, great tikka masala, good samosas, and satisfying menu. Cons: not very spicy for Indian food, at all. I ordered a 4/5 spicy. Should have order a 12 spicy or something. I guess it's slightly pricey for this area, but no complaints.

I've been ordering the chicken korma (number 2 on the spicy meter), with 2 plain naan, and meat samosas for about 13 years now. This place has an excellent wait staff as well. If it's too far a drive for you, try their sister establishment, Jeet India.
(4)
Ryan P.
Simply a great place to grab a bit to eat. The service is consistently good and the people that run the place (and Jeet India) seem to really enjoy sharing their delicious food with others. Favorites include saag paneer, bhartha, chilli chicken, and the garlic naan.

I enjoyed the lunch buffet at Amar India this past Friday. Being a buffet, I didn't have high expectations for the food. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was, and I got to try some new dishes as well. I just moved to the Dayton area from Chicago, where there were a ton of excellent Indian restaurants to choose from. Amar India could definitely hold their own to any of those places. I will be back!

My friends and I stopped in for lunch on our way home from another dog show. Great food! I ordered sweet iced tea, but they brought out a glass of unsweet tea. It was hard for them to keep our tea glasses full, as they only seemed to have one pitcher available. They offered us water or another beverage, while we waited for more tea to be made. After looking around, we noticed that other people were not even drinking tea at all, but drinking water, cokes, alcoholic beverages etc. This would have probably happened regardless of what type of restaurant we went to. I suspect it has more to do with being outside the Southeast, where many of us are notorious sweet iced tea drinkers, compared to the rest of the country. After all, it was Dayton, OH. The food was great though and we enjoyed our lunch. My only complaint is that the buffet is in a corner, and it would have been nicer if it were a bit more open, to allow for easier access.

This was our second time visiting Amar India and both times were excellent all around! The wonderful smell immediately invades your senses when you walk in the door accompanied by the Indian music playing throughout the restaurant, the atmosphere rounds out the experience but the food really makes it worth while! Service was prompt and friendly, as it should be. This is a nice restaurant, perfect place for a date but still casual and comfortable. What comes to mind when I eat this food is comfort food, the wiki page for comfort food says that "comfort food can be defined as food that brings some form or measure of comfort, sense of well-being, or easy satisfaction.", Amar India embodies this definition. We started with the special aloo tiki, amazingly good! Of course a couple orders of nan, can't eat Indian without it. For entrees we ordered the chicken curry and lamb curry, my lamb curry (level 3 spicy) was perfectly balanced with flavor, heat, and quantity, I didn't want it to end! We were completely satisfied after our meal and when they bring the check out it's buried under a mound of candied fennel seeds which are addictive as well. Best Indian food in town and one of our favorite places to eat in Dayton.

I've been coming here since I was little.. I love the food here! It's my absolute favorite Indian restaurant. My favorite dish I always get is the Saag Paneer. They have a lunch buffet which is small but delicious as well. The owner is very kind and I recommend this place especially for first time Indian food virgins.

I love Amar, I travel 4 - 5 days a week for work and love to try Indian food whenever I can. Amar is the best Indian I have ever had. I had the buffet once and it was really good but usually I go for dinner the best meal ever and the one I get every time is the Chicken Vindaloo, Garlic Nan, and Dal soup. The best nan best dal, and best vindaloo ever. I gave it a 5 as they are always friendly and the food has been perfect every time I have been there.

Decent food, rubbish service. Wouldn't honour a coupon, even though we met the criteria specified on the coupon. Was told we had to call the printing company who published the coupon to take it up with them. How exactly does that work? Their mistake, but we have do the work? Service was atrocious, and rude. We will never go back. They have lost our business forever. Many of our friends have also complained similarly.

I meet my family here for dinner a couple times a year and it's always pretty good. The location is convenient near the Dayton Mall so there's a lot to do. The service is just okay but the food is pretty authentic Indian. I don't venture too far out beyond the chicken curry.

Best place in Dayton!! I now live out of town, but always make it a point to hit this gem up every time I visit Dayton!!! I have yet to find an Indian food place I like more and I now live in a large metropolitan area. Can't say enough good about Amar India!!!

This was my introduction to Indian food when I grew up in Dayton many years ago (trying not to age myself...). I remember first eating and loving several times over the Saag Paneer. Years later with many more Indian dinners under our belts (having lived in SF, NYC, Boston and London), my sister and I get into town late on Christmas Eve without having arranged anything for dinner on Christmas. Thankfully, we found out that Amar India would be open and ordered takeout. It was as good as we remembered! Hope they stay around for our next adventure back in Dayton.

I love this restaurant -- the service is very attentive, and the food has not failed so far. Tried the lunch buffet today, and it's the largest and best-maintained one at an Indian restaurant that I've ever experienced. I will definitely be back, especially for the lunch buffet!

Ordered the Chicken Jalfrezi (curry sauce with green peppers and tomatos) with an order of Nan..wow! Ordering Nan with any Indian meal is a must! It was so fresh and tasty. The food was so good, I can't wait to go back. Interior is also decorated very nicely and staff are professional. Price was not bad, was $17 including tax, and was worth every penny!

My husband and I are regulars here. It is, by far, the best Indian food I have *ever* had. The paneer pakora, aloo tiki, shahi paneer, chicken tikka masala, naan, etc. are all at the top of their class. The service is fast and accurate, and often friendly. I absolutely love this place, and I appreciate it even more when I've had a disastrous experience while out of town. We love you, Amar!

My first time having indian food in dayton. I ordered takeout...because I didn't feel like sitting down. I placed my order, and waited for 15 minutes-ish. I wasn't in a rush so I got to check out the ambiance of the place. Like other yelpers have said, it is pretty dark in there. Some of the waiters seem to not care, and are just going through the motions. But there are some that genuinely care. And thd food...oh my goodness! I had the malai kofta...my first time, and it was absolutely delicious. So would I go back? Possibly...if I'm in the area again.

I've been to Amar 5 or 6 times now for dinner only. Every time I was spectacularly happy with the food, drinks and service. The curries are excellent. This is a regular stop when I'm in the area and honestly, I believe, one of the best restaurants in the area. This is not the best curry I have ever had, but it is in the top 10. I have had a variety of Indian food around the country and the world (including in various places around the UK). Amar compares reasonably well to these places. If you like Indian food, try this place now. Not to be missed.

GREAT food!

I recently moved back to Ohio from Oregon, and was very sad to leave my favorite Indian restaurant behind. But the search is on for a new fav, and it is off to a good start. Amar is one of several Indian restaurants in this small area (oddly enough), I plan to give the others a shot, but not before eating several more meals here, you know to test the consistency.... The place is clean, and bright, smells wonderful, and the customer service was outstanding, the servers were all very warm and welcoming. I ordered the Chicken Makhani, the wife ordered Shahi Paneer, and veggie samosas as an app. The samosas arrived very quickly, were smaller than what I am used to. Also, seemed a little dry inside, but were decent, probably wouldn't order them again. Our entrees arrived shortly after. If you like Indian food you know how it is trying a new place! you never know what you're gonna get. So it's like opening a Christmas gift and not knowing if you are getting knitted socks or a new iPod. I am happy to say we got an iPod! We were VERY pleased with our curries, and happy to see unlimited rice was included (don't laugh, sometimes you have to pay extra!). I ordered mine a three on their spice scale (up to 5) my nose was running but mouth was not on fire. The only gripe I had was that my chicken was pretty dry, and i wished there were more curry (but i always do, I could eat gallons of it). I would order it again (and will). My wife's shahi paneer was perfect, she can't wait to get back here. We also ordered garlic naan and cheese naan, both amazing, and somewhat unique, they were very dense, but so good! If you are wondering where to start with all of these Indian Restaurants in Miamisburg I recommend this place, cause you may decide you don't need to go the rest!

I love Amar! I've traveled all over the country and have tried Indian restaurants in practically every city I travel too (it's my favorite food). And Amar is the best I've had. If you're a vegetarian, they have lots of options that are so yummy. The waiters can be a little flirtatious at times, but overall their customer service is great. :)

We will never go to this place again..

Really good dishes and buffet on a sunday is $10 They have punjabi curry, chicken tikka, spinach paneer, fruity "ras malai" ice cream, rice pudding etc. I would definitely come back!

Simply a great place to grab a bit to eat. The service is consistently good and the people that run the place (and Jeet India) seem to really enjoy sharing their delicious food with others. Favorites include saag paneer, bhartha, chilli chicken, and the garlic naan.

Their lunch buffet is well known, however, their menu is even better. Order "off-the-menu" if you are in the mood for some more exotic offerings.

Not as Expected, very expensive in relation to other indian places around. And one more thing, the food is extremely Hot ! I mean spicy Hot ! On a scale of 5 never exceed 2 if you are spice pro !

Bad experience! High price for regular food. In term of food taste it is very average indian food, however their prices are too much comparing to the food quality they offer. They take a very high tip which they call "gratuity", it is 18% percent of your order including the tax as well.

Visited the lunch buffet today just after noon, the restaurant was almost full. I tried almost everything on the menu and wasn't disappointed. The food was hot and delicious. I ordered water because the sodas were served out of a can. The food is authentic Indian/Pakistani and was really good. Very clean place! I would definitely recommend this place for a date, family friendly and even large groups.

After hearing this was the best Indian in Dayton I had to try. While that could be true as far as what I've tried (Indian chaat cafe. Yuck) it is not good. There is so much better quality in Cincinnati. Ambar specially. My chicken tikka masala was greasy and broken. The chicken was good and spice level was good. I will give them bathura credit for being fresh, but they smooshed it in my takeout bag and it was soggy by the time I got to it. The worst part was the rice. Not perfectly done at all. The flavor was so so. There were crunch bits like I had been served rice from the edge of the rice cooker. Disgustingly dey and inedible. I'll just wait for my Queen City adventures. The gem city has yet to produce on Indian.

My husband loves Amar India. The food is flavorful and the staff are very friendly. I think they use a lot of heavy cream in their curries, but if you ask the waiter, they can help you find options without cream. I think as Indian restaurants go, this is the best in Dayton. The chutneys are good, the garlic naan is the best thing on the menu. I suggest doing the thal, you get to sample several small dishes and then decide what you like. If you are craving those far east flavors, this is the place to be.

Came here for the lunch buffet. This is probably the best Indian buffet in the Dayton area but that's not saying much. The place was clean. The selection was decent. Food was hot and fresh (unlike the crusty dishes you find at other spots). But most of the dishes I tried were quite bland. I found myself searching for flavor and spice. Probably wouldn't come here again for lunch. 2 stars.

We ended up eating here because they were open late and we both like Indian. The restaurant is sort of hidden. There was no light guiding us but, luckily, we found it anyway. It's sort of a mom 'n' pop kind of place which is kind of nice. There were several vegan options and more vegetarian. I had the aloo chooley. it was excellent. My boyfriend had something with lamb and seemed to enjoy it. I ate half of mine but all the rice was gone. When the man waiting on us brought the box, he brought more rice, which I thought was a really thoughtful touch. The bill came under a little pile of anise which was delightful. I knew they probably wanted us to leave so they could go home, too, but everyone was very kind. And they kept our water glasses filled. Always an indication of good service. Great reheated, too. Wish I would have taken a little of the anise home with me, too, though.

Love the food - lunch buffet is delicious - but the loud argumentative conversations among staff shouting in a foreign language in the dining room ruined my peaceful lunch. When a nearby patron complained, the boisterous noise ceased finally. Some soft music would greatly enhance the atmosphere. While the food rates 4 stars, the noise and inconsiderate noisy staff decrease my rating to a 2.

My daughter and I came to eat here today, she is vegetarian, and we LOVED IT! We both got the buffet and I'm not vegetarian, but really to be honest I fell in love with the peas and tofu dish! It was delicious!!!! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they didn't barely refill my drink! If that was done, definitely no complaints!

The best lunch buffet in the Dayton area. I have tried all the other Indian buffets within a 25 mile radius of here and they all fall short. The tikka masala is the best I've had and the saag is unbeatable as well. Only downside is the price is a buck, or two more expensive than the competition, but in my mind it's well worth it.
(5)
Josh P.
This is simply the best Indian food that I have ever had. My family has been coming here for over 5 years. I'm sure we've helped put the owners' kids through college with as often as we've been to Amar. We order takeout from here at least once every two weeks, and sometimes more often -- we've probably eaten their food over a hundred times. We typically avoid the buffet as we don't usually eat enough food to justify it, and the flavor/spice of some dishes on the buffet leave something to be desired. It's still the best Indian buffet around, but we opt to order off of the menu. We've always found the prices to be reasonable, but my wife and I have no problem splitting a meal (the servings are plentiful). Our favorite dishes include the best chicken tikka masala this side of the Atlantic. My best friend swears by the spinach saag and orders nothing else. You also can't go wrong with the veggie pakora and naan. The atmosphere is nice, the service is always prompt, and the bathrooms are very clean. With the quality of food well above average, this is the reigning champion of Dayton Indian food.

My favorite Indian restaurant in the area and in the top five overall. Great food, with a large selection of tasty vegetarian entrees. They also have a great selection of Naan, appetizers and other delicacies. I suggest the Saag Paneer and pakoras.

Great food and service! I usually go there for lunch buffet and it's simply amazing. Servers are very attentive and quick. I love their Masara and curry.

Not as Expected, very expensive in relation to other indian places around. And one more thing, the food is extremely Hot ! I mean spicy Hot ! On a scale of 5 never exceed 2 if you are spice pro !
(2)
Abdullah B.
Bad experience! High price for regular food. In term of food taste it is very average indian food, however their prices are too much comparing to the food quality they offer. They take a very high tip which they call "gratuity", it is 18% percent of your order including the tax as well.

Hanna H.
It's my favorite Indian restaurant but sometimes the food can taste different. The portions are kind of small especially cause the prices are high. I don't like the buffet but a la carte is the way to go.

I always get 2 meals to go and u can use the coupon they have on the website to save a bit of money. I recommend the chicken tikka masala or the chicken makhani and the garlic Nan is always a must! U will leave happy and full every time guaranteed!

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

(2)Lauren H.
I love Indian food and I love their saag paneer! They usually offer coupons and are very kind when we have gone there to eat. Normally we go for the buffet, but if that's not available, we order a couple entrees and split everything....large portions!
(4)Matthew K.
(4)George N.
Fantastic food and great service. Hit the lunch buffet with young kids, they devoured it!
(5)James M.
Our favorite Indian restaurant ever! We take out-of-town guests here too, and they all say they wish they had an Amar in their town. GREAT food!
(5)Lucy Jo S.
(5)Sam 'Wags' W.
Their lunch buffet is well known, however, their menu is even better. Order "off-the-menu" if you are in the mood for some more exotic offerings.
(4)Joseph D.
(5)Bryan A.
(3)Lyndsey R.
Wonderful food and buffet. We love this place.
(4)Ryan W.
Quality has seemed to drop over the years on my favorite dish, Saag Paneer. I could hardly eat it last time I ordered it! Chicken Makhani is still pretty good though,
(3)Dan P.
(5)Kristin M.
(5)Dustin G.
There are some pretty good Indian food places in Dayton, but this place reigns king. They have the best Indian food without a doubt. The atmosphere is excellent and the service is amazing. They have a really full menu with the usuals and some stuff I have never heard of. Really great place 5/5
(5)Liz H.

(3)Greg S.
My favorite Indian restaurant in the area and in the top five overall. Great food, with a large selection of tasty vegetarian entrees. They also have a great selection of Naan, appetizers and other delicacies. I suggest the Saag Paneer and pakoras.
(5)Andrew R.
(4)Jane S.
My husband and I eat at Amar almost every week. Need I say more?
(5)Tracy B.
The buffet has a good selection but not the best food. I think kohinoor has better quality food, but their buffet doesnt have as wide of a variety.
(3)Aman B.
great food, large buffet.

(3)Allison D.

I've been ordering the chicken korma (number 2 on the spicy meter), with 2 plain naan, and meat samosas for about 13 years now. This place has an excellent wait staff as well. If it's too far a drive for you, try their sister establishment, Jeet India.
(4)Ryan P.

(5)Kitten H.
(5)J C.
Great Indian. We'll definitely be back and bring others with us. The saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, naan, and pakoras were some of the best we've had.
(5)Ed H.
Every time I go here to eat, I love what ever I order. Ihave never once had any bad food. Once and a while the service is slow, but most of the time its pretty good.
(5)Maddie M.
Definitely a GO! Great service and even better good. This is our go to Indian food place in miamisburg!
(4)Jessica A.
Unassuming from the outside, this buffet is the best! The smoky eggplant dish was amazing!
(5)Vanessa H.
I've been going here for years when I lived in Dayton. I even go back to it when I visit. Love their Chicken Sabaj but not too big a fan of their lunch buffet. Definitely recommend other to try it!
(4)keith g.
(5)Danielle C.
I love their Korma and Tikka Masala. The decor is okay, but I love the ambiance, which feels intimate, which I much prefer when dining anywhere. I could eat there every day.
(4)Jan M.
My first visit here recently was very enjoyable. Service was welcoming and food brought in a timely manner. The chicken dal was wonderful, as was the garlic nan. I would return here in a hot minute!
(4)Kevin L.
(1)Hannah P.
I meet my family here for dinner a couple times a year and it's always pretty good. The location is convenient near the Dayton Mall so there's a lot to do. The service is just okay but the food is pretty authentic Indian. I don't venture too far out beyond the chicken curry.
(3)Reina H.
Best place in Dayton!! I now live out of town, but always make it a point to hit this gem up every time I visit Dayton!!! I have yet to find an Indian food place I like more and I now live in a large metropolitan area. Can't say enough good about Amar India!!!
(5)Lily L.
(4)Liisa E.
I love this restaurant -- the service is very attentive, and the food has not failed so far. Tried the lunch buffet today, and it's the largest and best-maintained one at an Indian restaurant that I've ever experienced. I will definitely be back, especially for the lunch buffet!
(4)Russell L.
(3)Joseph D.
(5)Bryan A.
(3)Lyndsey R.
Wonderful food and buffet. We love this place.
(4)Aman B.
great food, large buffet.
(4)Kendra S.
I always get 2 meals to go and u can use the coupon they have on the website to save a bit of money. I recommend the chicken tikka masala or the chicken makhani and the garlic Nan is always a must! U will leave happy and full every time guaranteed!
(5)Andrew K.
(5)Jill W.
(5)Doug M.
Randomly stopped in for dinner and wasn't disappointed. The food was tasty and the service was excellent. It had an upscale feel, but you could easily stroll in wearing a t-shirt and jeans and feel at ease.
(4)Angela D.
(4)Jeremy K.
(5)Matthew K.
(4)George N.
Fantastic food and great service. Hit the lunch buffet with young kids, they devoured it!
(5)James M.
Our favorite Indian restaurant ever! We take out-of-town guests here too, and they all say they wish they had an Amar in their town. GREAT food!
(5)Ryan H.
(4)Jessica U.
(5)CV H.
I've only had the lunch buffet here once and it's the priciest Indian lunch buffet I've eaten in the area. The food was very underwhelming. There wasn't much flavor to any of the dishes and the selection was small.
(2)Navneet B.
Good food and good service..worth paying 30$ for buffet for three persons...... Compared to Ajanta restaurant... Worth trying.. Go for it...
(4)Zack F.
I only had buffet, but it was a great spread. I was very excited to see they had a chat bar set up. It was delicious! They also had a wide selection of desserts. I was happy with the curries as well as the naan. The Indian tea left a bit to be desired though.
(4)Foodie G.
I would rate a zero hospitality here.. Nobody smiles or welcomes you. They give a strange and weird look and then ignore you. Then after ordering dinner a person comes and tells that kitchen is closing do you have anything to order. We say that's it and didn't take it as a offense.. Later another person comes and asks us the same question and asks us if we are paying by cash or card.. It gets little weird but we answer them politely saying by card,. Another person comes asks if you can pay us now.. We have just started the food.. At this point it really makes me get angry.. Then we didn't even feel like staying there anymore and we came back.. I was pregnant and hungry and they didn't even have little courtesy to allow us finish the food.. They could have just told us that it's closed if they can't serve.. We will never go to this place again..
(1)Erica C.
Really good dishes and buffet on a sunday is $10 They have punjabi curry, chicken tikka, spinach paneer, fruity "ras malai" ice cream, rice pudding etc. I would definitely come back!
(5)Ryan P.
Simply a great place to grab a bit to eat. The service is consistently good and the people that run the place (and Jeet India) seem to really enjoy sharing their delicious food with others. Favorites include saag paneer, bhartha, chilli chicken, and the garlic naan.
(4)Sam 'Wags' W.
Their lunch buffet is well known, however, their menu is even better. Order "off-the-menu" if you are in the mood for some more exotic offerings.
(4)Matthew R.
(2)Lauren H.
I love Indian food and I love their saag paneer! They usually offer coupons and are very kind when we have gone there to eat. Normally we go for the buffet, but if that's not available, we order a couple entrees and split everything....large portions!
(4)Lucy Jo S.
(5)Kristin M.
(5)Liz H.
(5)Andrew R.
(4)Jane S.
My husband and I eat at Amar almost every week. Need I say more?
(5)Tracy B.
The buffet has a good selection but not the best food. I think kohinoor has better quality food, but their buffet doesnt have as wide of a variety.
(3)Ryan W.
Quality has seemed to drop over the years on my favorite dish, Saag Paneer. I could hardly eat it last time I ordered it! Chicken Makhani is still pretty good though,
(3)Dan P.

Great Indian. We'll definitely be back and bring others with us. The saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, naan, and pakoras were some of the best we've had.
(5)Ahmad A.
Not as Expected, very expensive in relation to other indian places around. And one more thing, the food is extremely Hot ! I mean spicy Hot ! On a scale of 5 never exceed 2 if you are spice pro !
(2)Abdullah B.
Bad experience! High price for regular food. In term of food taste it is very average indian food, however their prices are too much comparing to the food quality they offer. They take a very high tip which they call "gratuity", it is 18% percent of your order including the tax as well.

Every time I go here to eat, I love what ever I order. Ihave never once had any bad food. Once and a while the service is slow, but most of the time its pretty good.

Great food and service! I usually go there for lunch buffet and it's simply amazing. Servers are very attentive and quick. I love their Masara and curry.

Delicious....but I think if you don't have the right light skin tone, the service will be lacking!!! However if you like Indian, this is the place!!! Extra, extra spicy means spicy like BBQ sauce....honestly I wanted very, very spicy.....disappointed!!

Randomly stopped in for dinner and wasn't disappointed. The food was tasty and the service was excellent. It had an upscale feel, but you could easily stroll in wearing a t-shirt and jeans and feel at ease.

Today myself and wife pigged out at our favorite restaurants. After afternoon movie we decided dining at Amar India before turning in. Amar India can accommodate vegans. Photos coming.
(4)Jen H.
(4)Cliff T.

One of the best indian restaurant in Dayton, 5o me, every Friday I eat my lunch there :)

With the quality of food well above average, this is the reigning champion of Dayton Indian food.

It's my favorite Indian restaurant but sometimes the food can taste different. The portions are kind of small especially cause the prices are high. I don't like the buffet but a la carte is the way to go.
(4)Jessica U.
(4)keith g.
(5)Jeremy K.
(5)Vanessa H.
I've been going here for years when I lived in Dayton. I even go back to it when I visit. Love their Chicken Sabaj but not too big a fan of their lunch buffet. Definitely recommend other to try it!
(4)Maddie M.
Definitely a GO! Great service and even better good. This is our go to Indian food place in miamisburg!
(4)Jessica A.
Unassuming from the outside, this buffet is the best! The smoky eggplant dish was amazing!
(5)Reina H.
Best place in Dayton!! I now live out of town, but always make it a point to hit this gem up every time I visit Dayton!!! I have yet to find an Indian food place I like more and I now live in a large metropolitan area. Can't say enough good about Amar India!!!
(5)Lily L.
(4)Liisa E.
I love this restaurant -- the service is very attentive, and the food has not failed so far. Tried the lunch buffet today, and it's the largest and best-maintained one at an Indian restaurant that I've ever experienced. I will definitely be back, especially for the lunch buffet!
(4)Danielle C.
(4)Kevin L.
(1)Hannah P.
I meet my family here for dinner a couple times a year and it's always pretty good. The location is convenient near the Dayton Mall so there's a lot to do. The service is just okay but the food is pretty authentic Indian. I don't venture too far out beyond the chicken curry.
(3)Foodie G.

(3)Allison D.

(4)Eli D.
I've been ordering the chicken korma (number 2 on the spicy meter), with 2 plain naan, and meat samosas for about 13 years now. This place has an excellent wait staff as well. If it's too far a drive for you, try their sister establishment, Jeet India.
(4)Greg S.
My favorite Indian restaurant in the area and in the top five overall. Great food, with a large selection of tasty vegetarian entrees. They also have a great selection of Naan, appetizers and other delicacies. I suggest the Saag Paneer and pakoras.
(5)Emmy M.

(5)Jill W.

(2)Hanna H.
