In my opinion this is the best sushi in Columbus and it really is not even close. Their standard rolls are as good as they come but the custom-made rolls that are unique to this restaurant are what I live for! Most of the servers have been at this restaurant for years and will certainly greet you with a warm smile. Like the chefs they are pros who are great at what they do: making and serving amazing food! I have eaten at many others sushi restaurants around Columbus and found Sushi En to be affordable when compared to the others. Combining better food with similar prices makes this a no-brainer!

This place just got the "Dirty dish award" for the 2nd time this year for having 6 critical health code violations. Any restaurant who doesn't care about health and cleanliness doesn't deserve your business. abc6onyourside.com/news/…

The first time I went to Sushi En was for Mother's Day yearssss ago, and back then, I wasn't much of a sushi fan. I finally got to come back the other day since I was in the area, and stopped by with a friend for lunch. The decor is pretty simple and clean; there is a sushi bar and also (I think) a small back room for larger parties. The menu consisted of items you'd typically see in a Japanese restaurant (Udon, Bento boxes, sushi, etc). I ordered a basic Scallop Roll and the "All In" Roll (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, red Snapper, crab, & cucumber). Although the sushi is pretty fresh, it is just a tad bit pricier compared to other sushi places in the Columbus area. If I ever stop by again for lunch, I might try and go for value and get a lunch combo.

Ok so I used to love Sushi En. A few years ago the quality was actually really good, but they have really fallen down. The sushi is now bland and the fish isn't good. Last time I was there the tuna was not a very vibrant color like it should be and the chefs just seemed to be throwing assorted products back into their cold case. I don't get the other foods but my friends have said it isn't very good. The noodle bowls especially are just salty and off putting. This makes me sad but I will no longer be going here.

First time here and the food was the bomb!! My man and I went in for dinner , split a sushi roll and an entree and we both left full and happy. Service was quick and friendly. Definitely will be going back.

I'm currently the mayor of Sushi En on Foursquare, so clearly I am a fan. I have always had very fresh sushi here and the menu brags an impressive array of rolls in addition to the "old standards" (Philly, California, etc.). What's more, the chefs are very accommodating when it comes to special requests. My one complaint is the pace of the service. My husband and I had dinner here tonight and there were perhaps a handful of other tables, yet it still took close to an hour to get our food. And, the last time I swung through here for takeout, I waited in the lobby area for 45 minutes just for a sweet potato roll and 4 pieces of salmon nigiri. Sushi En - your sushi is divine, but the service SUCKS! What gives?

I don't normally give 5 star reviews, but this place is great. Great food, great service.

Favorite sushi place in the area. The staff is very knowledgeable and is always eager to explain all of the dishes. I've tried the sushi dishes, Korean dishes and noodle dishes and tried a few of the apps. Everything has always been excellent! Perfect place pre or post-movie. An ever reliable favorite.

Great vegetarian selection of sushi rolls, but an upcharge of a dollar per roll if you want soy wrappers instead of nori. That's pretty steep! It's 50 cents a roll at the few other places in town where you can substitute. Which is the reason Sushi En is getting a four instead of a five. Otherwise, the restaurant was decorated nicely, everything seemed clean, and our server was attentive. The avocado roll was tasty, and the sweet potato roll was delicious as well. The plum/cucumber wasn't for me, but the quality was good. I was just expecting a sweet plum instead of a pickled version. At the end of the meal there were two mistakes on my bill, but the server took care of them immediately with lots of apologies, and we were given cute little oranges for dessert that were just the right size to end a good meal. I'll definitely be back.

I have never had bad service here. It is pricey, yes, but the quality of the food, service, and the atmosphere are worth it. Try to miss the lunch rush to avoid waiting for a seat. If sushi isn't your bag, then try the Chicken katsu.

  • Bryanna K.

I was there for lunch by myself and had two sushi rolls and a water. My bill was $21!! I think that is way too much and I didn't like one of the rolls. This would be better to go with someone so the cost is shared. I won't be back there.

  • Molly B.

Not a huge fan. For me sushi should be a mix of textures and flavors. Something creamy (like cream cheese or avocados) juxtaposed against something crunchy (tempura). Otherwise, the flavors get all muddled and it just tastes blehh... For me, the sushi was OK. It was blehh. Nothing special about the texture and flavor combinations. Also, the prices are extremely high for what you're getting. I don't think it's a value. Finally, the decor leaves much to be desired. The place was downright sloppy.

Best sushi I've had in Columbus! Fish is super fresh and our server was great. Atmosphere is a little underwhelming but overall a good experience.

Hands down. Best sushi in Columbus. Don't come here for the ambience. Come for the sushi. It is damn good.

I've been going to Sushi En since they opened. I LOVE sushi and eat it all the time when traveling. This place has the BEST quality of sushi I've ever had. My favorite roll is the "All in" and "The Rainbow". Pretty basic rolls, but delicious. The firecracker, hurricane, California dreaming and Double Crunch are also awesome. The lunch specials Monday through Friday come with soup and salad. If you're in town, check this place out!

I must have went on an "off" day, because I was totally not impressed by Sushi En. I was really excited to try this place out after all the rave reviews on here. I was expecting a good quality meal, but I left with a "meh...." feeling. We came to this location in the early evening. I'm guessing shortly after their first rush, but the place was dirty. There were crumbs and crap on the floor that needed swept up. The server took their time getting over to us. What really killed it for me was the burnt smell. It smelled like someone charred something on a grill, but then left it there for about 5 hours. Not the best smell to appease someone's appetite. We ordered some basic rolls, and were very underwhelmed by the quality, and the over all taste. Not to mention you get a little pissed once you receive your bill and realize you just put the sushi chef's kid through college and your reward was crappy subpar sushi and an outrageous bill. Yeah, domo arigato. 1 star for the orange palate cleanser instead of the typical ginger. I might give these guys another try in the future, but for now... I'm not recommending them.

We haven't had sushi in a long time but we're in the mood tonight. Server was very friendly and on top of everything. We took his suggestion for Firecracker meal and it was fantastic. I mad sure that was my last bite before we left. Other orders was California Dreaming and the scallop role. Cali I would probably pass on next time. The scallop was very good. Looking forward to heading back and kicking our shoes off and sitting on the floor for a more authentic experience.

Absolutely love his place! I am so glad to have found a great sushi place that's always my husband and my "go to". We've tried other sushi restaurants around Columbus and this (along with Ahki Hana) are the only ones worth going to. We have gone so many times and always pleased how consistent and delicious the sushi is.

Stopped in here for Valentine's dinner after a movie. Exterior: this restaurant is located at the west end of a building which includes a movie theater, a pub, a dessert place of some kind, and another business. There is plenty of parking available in the area, though the movie theater can make it very difficult to find one close. Interior: the entrance leads directly to the hostess station. To the left of the entrance are several tables and booths for seating. To the right and behind a wall is additional seating. It looks like more "traditional" with a low table on that side. I was informed private rooms were in the back left section of the restaurant. There was a small sushi bar with seating for about 8 people (maybe a couple more) just off the main dining area. It is pleasantly decorated. The reason I dropped a star for this review is due to interior temperature. It was very cold outside and that seeped horribly inside. A glance around the restaurant revealed practically everyone still had their coats on (to include my girlfriend). One couple asked to be moved further back, but I'm not sure it helped. Staff: they were wonderful! We assumed that most of the V-Day crowd would be gone after the movie, so we were a little surprised when asked about reservations. We hadn't made any since it was a spur of the moment decision. However, we were seated promptly. The waiter was very attentive, polite, and personable. Pretty well every member of the staff was smiling and polite, which makes the experience more pleasurable. Food: awesome! We started off with Gyoza, which was very good! My girlfriend ordered Yaki Udon with a side of California Roll and I ordered a Sushi Deluxe. We both received a salad and she absolutely loved the dressing, though it wasn't to my liking (personal taste). I received Miso soup, which was perfect on a cold wintery night! My girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed her meal. She said it was just as good as what we'd had out in Portland, OR at a different Japanese restaurant. There were 11 pieces of Nigiri sushi as well as a California Roll on my Deluxe order, which made me extremely happy! The seafood was fresh, large portioned, and the rice held together perfectly. Overall, this is a sushi place to which we will definitely return...probably when it gets warmer though.

This is the hands down best Sushi in Columbus. Great salads, miso soup, and of course sushi and sashimi rolls.

  • Jules R.

It's bad imo. Bad service bad food. Everyone is mean and ugly. The food is rancid. The decor is wretched. Would not recommend in a million years.

This was my third time here. Sushi is always very fresh and creative. I had the firecracker roll which was very filling and flavorful. We started with the tempura shrimp and vegetables and they were very crunchy and not greasy. This place is very close to work and I will come back soon for a quick lunch. Overall very good quality.

Really good. The restaurant was slammed, but quality didn't suffer. OK, we got our appetizers after the main order, but big deal, it was still awesome.

This is one of the few non chains in the Polaris area if you're looking for something different or want to get your sushi fix since there aren't many options up there. I believe they are Korean owned so they have some Korean options on their menu too. I've never been there for lunch so maybe they have some good specials. I'm not a huge fan of their spicy crab salad, but I do enjoy their rolls. I've mostly had the cooked or fried rolls. We've gotten sashimi, and it's a large portion and bigger slices of fish so you get your money's worth. I'm very picky about tuna so I just couldn't eat it here (my sister did), but I did enjoy the yellowtail and white tuna/escolar. Whenever I'm in the area, I definitely would go there, but since I'm in the UA area, I'd prefer different options with not having to drive all the way out there.

When I worked in the area, I would go to Sushi En for lunch. When I moved offices, I STILL went and continue to go to Sushi En. My must have starter items are either the pickled cucumber salad or the spicy crab salad. Must. Haves. My friend always orders uni (sea urchin) with a raw quail egg - we share a variety of rolls/items and it's always fresh and tasty - which is a big deal since we live in Cbus, Ohio. He's had and gives thumbs up to the bimimbop. Definitely worth checking out!

This is only the second time I have been here with the first being several years ago. My husband and I stopeed by for a quick, impromtu weekday lunch. He ordered the chicken terryaki bento box, and I ordered the Californa Sushi Combo. It's a bit pricey for lunch, but you get a TON of food! Both began with Miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. The dressing isn't one of my favorites, but I've definately had much worse. The chicken terryaki was severed with a a small crab salad, california roll, and edemame - such an awesome addition. My combo was served with a california roll, spicy california roll, and a california hand roll. All were very good, but the spicy was my favorite. The spicy mayonaise was actually in the roll verses being on top. This was a very good meal, and I look forward to being able to explore the menu further.

Ordered the super bowl. It was over priced and tiny pieces of sushi for $23. Would not order again. I

This is my go to sushi place close to home. The kids like to sit at the Sushi bar and the area where you take off your shoes and eat sitting cross legged on the platform tables. The sunday roll and pickled cucumber salad are my favorites and keep me coming back.

My fiancé and I love going here for happy hour. Although we don't order a lot from the menu, the food is well worth what you pay. The staff and management have always been very nice, and I would take anyone there!

Normally I enjoy their food, although it's just average. It works for a quick sushi fix. However I've never been more frustrated when turned us away at 8:32pm on a Sunday night...because they closed at 8:30. Excellent customer service.

Tonight was my fourth time eating at Sushi En. Each time I have eaten there I have noticed the restaurant being more and more dirty. Went to the restroom and noticed that the bar looked more like a closet than an actual bar. My arms literally stuck to the sushi bar counter tonight.....likely due to not being really cleaned much. As I was eating I noticed what looked like a year's worth of food particles under the countertop over behind the sushi bar...yikes. I ordered sushi regular, as usual, and sent it back to have wasabi put under the fish. Sushi chef not happy about that. Then I ordered sweet shrimp (raw) and when he handed it to me the end of the shrimp was a sort of green color and really slimy. I have ordered that over 100 times at other places and have never seen anything like that before. When I sent it back for a replacement the sushi chef took the shrimp off the plate and threw it in the trash right in front of me in a bit of a fit. He was not happy. There was no way I was going to eat what he served me so while I am sorry he was upset there was something wrong with the shrimp. Last time I ordered sweet shrimp at Sushi En the shrimp had ice particles on it when they served it to me. Two strikes and you are out in my book. The replacement shrimp was good and I paid and left. The restaurant is dirty and the sushi (if you eat raw fish....not rolls) is marginal at best. My advice is to find someplace else without a tempermental sushi chef

I intend to go here a lot because it's cloße to home for me. I just wish that their sushi worth the price. Staff are very nice, I have had better sushi for the same price

  • Monette P.

The food and interior left a lot to be desired. We did not get a lot of help from the server about the menu. No simple "crunchie" roll on the menu. As pricey as Haiku, but not nearly as good as Haiku. Sushi En has a feeling of a strip shopping center feel.

Great service! Came solo one evening and was recommended the firecracker. Delicious shrimp tempura with a little kick. Good miso soup, too. Came on an awkward lunch date, and learned more about the server and my date than I cared to - but it didn't detract from the delicious sushi I got to enjoy anyways.

  • Daniel B.

Good location, convenient. Prices good for the area. Came here for a business lunch. Both companions are sushi eaters so we all had sushi. All were good! Nice portions but the individual pieces are huge! Not to complain about the quantity, but the pieces make it impossible to hold a conversation! Worth it though. Definite place to return ti if I'm in the area.

When people say "go to your happy place", for me that is sushi en. Sushi is amazing, service is fantastic. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

This is by far my most favorite sushi place in Columbus. The crab salad is a must try. Miso soup is good. It has a good mix of Japanese and Korean cuisine. Been coming here from day one and highly recommend to all my friends. Most places that look nicer, you are paying for ambience. The quality and consistency are great here. Don't let the fact that it is in a shopping center discourage you. For a date night you have sushi and the movie theater a few doors down. Don't miss the lunch and happy hour specials too.

I visited Sushi En for lunch the other day. It is a nicely decorated and clean restaurant in an odd little spot attached to the Rave, but whatever. I got one of their lunch sets and some hot green tea. The tea came out lightly brewed and piping hot, which is how I like it. I enjoyed the miso soup, though it could have used more tofu. The flavor was pretty light, which is nice for lunch. The set had three simple rolls: salmon, tuna, and cucumber. All three were great. The fish was fresh and firm, and the cucumber was crisp and clean, The sushi rice was VERY tasty. I usually only notice the rice if it was bad; it was great to be pleasantly surprised by it. The service was fast and friendly. I didn't have to wait for anything, even though there was a decent crowd. The bathroom was in a beat up corner by the bar, which was disappointing. I am glad I didn't make the pit stop before eating. It might have put me off. Though the blues music they had playing almost made up for it. I will likely be back to Sushi En. The food and service are certainly well executed

If you like good Japanese food then this isn't the place for you. I ordered few veggie rolls, sashimi, the chicken katsu don and it was probably the worst Japanese meal I've had in a while

Tried this place based on Yelp reviews while vising family in the area. Really excellent Sushi. High quality, fresh, good service. Pricier, but it's worth it. Cheap Sushi is a bad idea. Highly recommended.

Walked in and was seated right away. The sushi was good and the soup was excellent. So why a three? The service. The waiter could have been better. It was not terribly busy but it just seemed he could not make the appropriate rounds to check on us and after dropping over 100 dollars on a meal I expect a little better attention.

My family and I were in shock when we sat down and looked at the menu prices at first, and tried to justify that it was, in fact, next to the movie theater and mall so the prices would be up there. However, the portion sizes do come out large, and unbeknownst to us there is soup and salad before each meal. Delicious! The actual menu itself was really small. There were some traditional dishes I'm used to seeing on menus in Asian restaurants, but for the most part they were different variations of noodles and stir frys with different types of meat. Nothing special found there. The actual meal came out pretty bland. I got the Korean beef, and it didn't taste nearly as flavorful as if you go to an actual restaurant owned by Korean people. A little disappointing there, but I still ate it up. All in all, it was an okay experience. There are just so many places I'd rather visit than this one.

I love Sushi En for a casual sushi dining experience. I have gotten their bento box (salmon) as well as various assortments of sushi. This is actually the first place I ever had sushi. I love that they have an area to dine where you remove your shoes and are seated on the floor (with cushions of course). I have also ordered take out from here and gotten fast service. I've never had a bad experience here and plan to return often.

  • Mike T.

The service here is quite good as is their sushi. A friend of ours does not eat sushi but loves to go here as they have really good teriyaki chicken, I guess. I would not know because I really enjoy their sushi so that's what I get. They have your standard rolls along with some more specialized ones. The boat value is quite good so if you're going with 3 or more you should get the boat. The boat comes with a few rolls and plenty of nagiri. The fish quality here is quite good and I like their location in relation to the movie theatre. It's a good place to eat while waiting for a movie time and it's tons better than McDonalds or some other such trash. Anything that has the spicy tuna is pretty much amazing! It's their specialty and they do it quite well. The individual sushi prices are normal as sushi goes so you'll be spending some bucks here, which is fine as all the sushi I've tried here is worth it.

My favorite sushi place. I've been coming here for several years. The staff always remembers me, despite me coming in at odd hours and always eating alone while reading a book (I always stop in before heading to work.) The decor is simple and nice. The service is fast and the staff is very nice. I usually order the same thing; Spicy Crab Salad to start, which is a delicious heaping mound of spicy crab over cucumber, followed by the Dynamite Roll, which is a special baked roll, and the Caterpillar roll, which is spicy tuna wrapped in avocado and topped with masago. The rolls are big and very filling, and the fish is always fresh. The orange that you get with the check is a nice touch.

Monday afternoon, light crowd, no wait to sit. Fresh salads arrived with a bright orange ginger dressing, not the standard creamy pink sushi-salad topping, and it was delicious and an excellent start. Miso soup arrives, a required standard, and it's warm and good. The Sushi En Special Bento Boxes arrive ($16.95), we ordered 2 of these, and they are a little bigger than expected. 3 pieces of nigiri (salmon, shrimp, tuna), a 3 piece california roll, a tennis ball of rice, pickled cucumbers, 5 pieces of tempura (3 veg, 2 shrimp), a crunchy ika and seaweed salad, and side of edamame. Everything was crisp and fresh, nicely seasoned and tasty. There was no wasabi on the sushi which, I guess, is a Midwest thing, but a good sized ball of it, plus pickled ginger, was nearby on the plate, so no harm done. The table and interior were clean and modern, the food arrived quickly, and the service was prompt and courteous. All smiles here. Other dinners at our table: Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box ($10.95); salad, miso, and box as above but with chicken teriyaki instead of sushi/roll. Chicken had a good texture and a nice flavor, smoky and sweet, and wasn't just chicken drowned in sauce. The difference was noted repeatedly and was reported to be yummy. Sushi combination ($13.95); california roll plus five pieces of nigiri. Plus salad and miso soup. Reported to be fresh and excellent. Portion size was enough that leftovers had to be taken home. Nigiri: 2 Ika (squid) and 2 Taco (octopus) ($10.00). Ika was fresh and properly scored so a nice thick piece was easily eaten. Taco was a really large piece, thick and twice the length of the rice. I have never met a human that could just bite through a piece of boiled octopus and this was a good sized slab that had to be stuffed in the mouth all at once. It took a few seconds of overfull mouth chewing to get it under control, but the flavor was reported to be great. No fountain drinks were available ergo no free refills. Soda arrived at the table in cans to be served over ice. I had two teenagers with me and a can of coke has a life expectancy of just a few seconds. Paying for non-alcoholic drink refills just rubs me the wrong way. The above lunch, for four, with lunch pricing (served 11am-2:30pm) plus five cans of coke was $80 without tip which is a little pricey. The price means that this place will only be a special occasion restaurant for my family. Enjoyed a great lunch and everyone left with their belly filled. It was excellent all around. You will not regret a meal here.

It's been a good while since I've been in here so I thought it was time to write an update. The reason for the delay seems to be money or a lack thereof. Their prices seem to go up and they're not a good value anymore. But I came during happy hour and only ate two rolls. And they were both great! I didn't recognize any of the sushi chefs or the servers though.

First impression is--basic strip mall sushi spot. As another reviewer mentioned, it's a bit odd to have so few Asian nationality people working a sushi place, but not a big deal. Started with the miso soup which was quite good. Extra points for stocking the 21oz. Sapporo. Edamame was okay, not great. The a la carte menu was pretty pricey. $9.95 for a basic California roll. $3-5 a piece for sushi or sashimi. Usually get 2 pieces for that price. The sashimi portions are good sized and incredibly fresh. I'd go back.

I love sushi and have tried several restaurants in the Downtown to Polaris area of Columbus, and this is my least favorite. The food was ok, but seemed to mimic the menu of another one my favorite sushi restaurants (apparently the owners here sold that restaurant but still use some of the menu). And the copy isn't as good as the other restaurant. The restaurant is small and it's hard not to listen/hear others' conversations. But the worst part is the management. I've been in here three times now and every time have heard an older woman who seems to be in charge, chew other employees out in both English and what I assume is Japanese. Yelling in Japanese is still yelling, and your customers still recognize it as yelling, no matter what the language. This restaurant is too small for drama. I have said after each visit I'm not going back, then decide to try it again, maybe it will be better. Nope. Third strikes, I'm out.

My roommate and I go here all the time. The service, if you get one of the good waiters, is great, the food is delicious, and the management is amazing as well. We go here at least once a month, and they remember us each time.

Best sushi in Columbus - period! The diablo roll is the greatest, gyoza soup is crazy good! This is a can't miss - great food, the best staff and a cool vibe.

I went to Sushi En with a large group. I had a hamachi and scallion roll and a lobster salad roll. The sushi was mediocre. I have definitely had better in the area but this will do in a pinch.

Went here last week for dinner. I had heard mixed reviews. It looks interesting on the outside but once inside it is nothing to write home about. The sushi was alright but the rice was super sticky. The rolls were pretty large so we ended up getting very full fast. The rolls weren's bad but they definitely weren't the best I'd ever had. I think it was a little pricey for the quality. The cool part was the oranges we got at the end.

  • Kathryn W.

Have only had take out, and not at peak busy times, but the quality of the sashimi was very good: fresh, large portions (though honestly, I'd have cut them in smaller pieces). Salmon skin roll had, I think, overcooked salmon skin, with a burnt flavor; broth for agedashi tofu was cool, ought to have been warm. Service was well within a reasonable time, and orders had no errors.

  • Julia T.

I like this place, a little bit pricier than Sushi ko...the rolls were decent, but a little out of proportion, and they were a little bit too big for a "one bite" type of deal. The soda was in cans, so, no refills, but I had green tea and the refills were free (bonus). If I were in the area I would choose Sushi ko over this place, but definitely not a bad place to get your sushi on.

Update 2013- for the last 2 years I have been going to Tokyo Sushi in Powell. I initially thought sushi en was the best sushi in the area but I was wrong. Tokyo sushi is the way to go. Sushi En is by far the best sushi I have had in the area! The service is always great and my favorite rolls are: The Diablo*, The Double Crunch, and The Samba. It is a very busy place on friday and saturday so try to get there before 7. However, it's well worth the wait. I have never been disappointed and will never go to another sushi restaurant again! It's a must try for people who have never been! (Keep in mind that the rolls are all fresh and handmade right out in the open so it does take a little longer to get the sushi than most premade sushi joints.)

Stopped by a few weeks ago with a friend for a late dinner and really no complaints come to mind. We were seated immediately, the service was fast and attentive and our entrees came out very quickly. I had the house salad as an appetizer, and a Hawaiian Garden roll with mango and pineapple. Yum! My companion had the Sushi Deluxe, which contained a variety of seafood nigiri including octopus. Both were delicious. As an unexpected bonus, you get a sliced orange for dessert. Happy to find good sushi in the Polaris area!

I had a really good experience here. We came a little before 9 (they close at 10), but they were super great. It's bigger than it looks from outside, especially when I realized they have a back room too. We didn't have to wait at all. Our server was really prompt and helpful explaining the best way to share rolls. I am by no means a sushi expert, but I thought they did a great job on the rolls we tried. The California tasted the way I was hoping it would. The spicy salmon was a not quite as spicy as I feared it would be (which was great for me. I am kind of scared of extreme spice so I felt like a god being able to eat something called a "spicy salmon roll". I think Boyfriend would have liked more spice though). We also tried a chicken tempura roll that was interesting for a change, but probably not something I would get on a regular basis (sushi and fish are def meant for each other). I was slightly let down by their mixed drinks, specifically the mimosas. Not because they weren't good (they were!) they were just in tiny champagne flutes instead of a more hardy amount. I had it gone in two swallows (although I did love that it came with an orange and a purple flower). I was really wowed by their customer service at the end. We were talking about where we could go for dessert, and they actually called the place we were considering to make sure they were definitely open and gave us directions. It was above and beyond what I expect a restaurant to do. Overall, I liked! I would love to go back and try more rollls.

We gave Sushi-En another try tonight. The wait for a table was about 20 minutes, which was understandable for a Friday Night. We finally got seated. Our server forgot our drinks, but she was very apologetic. She didn't come check with us as often as we'd like though... we needed napkins and water a few times but couldn't manage to contact her. Anyways, on with the food. Got our usual Diablo Roll, Ultimate Tuna, and of course, the Fatty Tuna (O-Toro). The wait was 30+ minutes, but when the food did come out, it was awesome and delicious.

Sushi En, you have all the potential in the world to garnish a five star rating from me but, you squandered your chances with the service. It was merely adequate and there was one big thing that bugged the heck out of me. I asked for a recommendation on the cocktails and the server said "Uhh, I'm more of a whiskey and beer guy myself". Okay, that's cool and all but, this isn't personal preference play-land. At a restaurant I fully expect for the servers to be able to give me recommendations without missing a beat. You really should know what the stuff you are selling tastes like or at the very least you should be able to ramble off a few top sellers with ease. The guy also stumbled when asked the drink specials. There were a few other things that bugged me but none were thaat big of a deal yet, it is what is keeping me from giving Sushi En a higher rating. To put it simply, I liked my server well enough as a person but, not so much as a server. I liked the atmosphere well enough but, the space is fairly tight and things can get pretty loud when it is packed up. On a much more positive note, I did eat one of the best things in my life here. Amaebi W/Fried Head is raw shrimp nigiri with, you guessed it, a fried shrimp's head on the side. To be completely honest with you, I could have done without the nigiri. Raw shrimp has never been a favorite flavor or texture for me and it paled in comparison to the sumptuous and deeply flavored crunchy shrimp's head crowned with a gorgeously thick sweet brown sauce and an equally beautiful yellow savory sauce. It all just worked so perfectly together, it's cliche and all, but, it was an excellently executed symphony of flavors going on in my mouth. I dare not describe it any more out of fear of making my anticipation to have that dish again and again grow any larger than it already has. The sushi is pretty darn awesome too and the Miss. Saigon cocktail that I picked was a sure win but, everything in my meal was overshadowed by those handsomely fried heads of heavenliness. I forsee many more trips to Sushi En in my future. Afterall, I am just dying to try the grilled yellowtail jaw that I spotted on the menu. The lesson here? Delicious food can right plenty wrongs.

I tried a bunch of rolls from this place. A lot of the things that i ordered were bland and tasteless. This is not my favorite place to get sushi in Columbus.

We were not impressed with Sushi En. The service was sub-par. Seemed a little over priced for what we were getting. The soda cans rather than fountain soda was cheap. As visitors from out of state, we now know not to go.

I ordered the Spicy Tuna, Spicy Yellowtail, and Spicy Salmon rolls to go. They tasted good except they weren't rolled well. As soon as I picked up the piece with my chop sticks it started to fall apart and it got worse when I dipped it in the soy sauce. This was my first experience here so I am not sure if this is typical or just one bad experience.

Wishing to expand my sushi experience, I met the Ukrainian Brain for lunch at Sushi En. The experience wasn't bad, but was not outstanding, either. The first thing that struck me about our lunchtime feast was that all of the waiters and waitresses were occidental. To me, Sushi is about the overall experience, and, dammit, I expect to have an Asian waiter! Once I got over that, it was time to consider the menu. The menu is relatively straightforward, and all of the standard sushi choices are there, along with their signature "special" rolls. The brain decided to get a couple of standard rolls, while I stuck with my favorites: spicy tuna, and philly roll. One thing that's a little different here, is that their spicy tuna comes with avocado. You can order it without, but you will have to request it. I ordered mine without, but the Brain ordered it with. He was happy with his roll, I was appropriately satisfied with mine. I was not as happy with the Philly roll. I swear that the salmon on the Philly roll was not smoked. It had a very strong fish taste, and it had the texture of raw. That's not to say it was bad; it was just different. We supplemented our personal rolls with a couple of fancy rolls that were good, if not spectacular. Typically the fancy rolls for us are cooked rolls, but, for the life of me, I can't remember which rolls we had-- which is probably indicative of their "not spectacular" standing. I also had the Gyoza Dumpling soup, which I would rate very highly, and the green tea, which was good. Overall, if you're in the Polaris area, Sushi En is a fine place to go, particularly pre- or post-movie at the Rave.

I don't have a lot of sushi experience to compare Sushi En to, as this was only the second time I've tried it, the first being at a place in California. However, I can say that the sushi was fresh and tasty and the service was acceptable. It was a great place to dine pre-Friday night movie at Rave. My only complaint is that it was very warm and stuffy in the restaurant, but that's not enough to keep me from coming back. Oh, and the oranges at the end of the meal were a nice touch :)

I have been to this restaurant several times before and was not that impressed. However this last time was much better. The service was on point, the food came out fast, fresh and with the flare that you come to expect and hope for in sushi. The staff was very friendly and the green tea ice cream was quite excellent. I wish I could show you a picture of the amount of ice cream that I received, it was actually larger then the soup and salad I received combined. The price is what you would expect. If you and a date or a few friends want a good time and to try a variety of foods and dishes then bring a few Jackson's ($20) with you. Be sure to check out the variety of Korean dishes as well. If you have never tried them, consider trying something new, I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Actually more like 3.5 stars, but I'll round up since its the first review. We paid approx $40 for lunch for two. We were totally stuffed, though the quality was not what we are used to (again , we may be picky coming from California...) The Super Bowl was good, and would get it again. The rolls were so-so

What gives?

In my opinion this is the best sushi in Columbus and it really is not even close. Their standard rolls are as good as they come but the custom-made rolls that are unique to this restaurant are what I live for! Most of the servers have been at this restaurant for years and will certainly greet you with a warm smile. Like the chefs they are pros who are great at what they do: making and serving amazing food! I have eaten at many others sushi restaurants around Columbus and found Sushi En to be affordable when compared to the others. Combining better food with similar prices makes this a no-brainer!

This is my go to sushi place close to home. The kids like to sit at the Sushi bar and the area where you take off your shoes and eat sitting cross legged on the platform tables. The sunday roll and pickled cucumber salad are my favorites and keep me coming back.

Normally I enjoy their food, although it's just average. It works for a quick sushi fix. However I've never been more frustrated when turned us away at 8:32pm on a Sunday night...because they closed at 8:30. Excellent customer service.

I was there for lunch by myself and had two sushi rolls and a water. My bill was $21!! I think that is way too much and I didn't like one of the rolls. This would be better to go with someone so the cost is shared. I won't be back there.

I thought this place was great. It's not super fancy or trendy, it's just a really good, solid sushi joint. We came for dinner and it ran us about $50 including three beers, and we were completely stuffed and actually had to take a few pieces home, so it's a pretty good deal. The sushi is definitely by far the freshest I've had in the Columbus area and the slices are generously cut. I didn't have any hot foods, but they have an extensive collection of hot dishes for those who don't like sushi [the typical teriyaki, udon, tempura, etc.]. My companion got a tempura appetizer and enjoyed it. They have a pretty good beer/wine/cocktail list, although not the most extensive selection of wine (I guess not that many people have sushi with wine). They're located right next to Rave theaters in the Polaris area, so it's a great place to go for dinner right before or after a movie. I do wish they had a website so I could remember the names of some of the rolls I had.
