During my 5 year tenure at The Ohio State University, I had the opportunity to try many pizza-by-the-slice establishments near campus. While your choices are basically limitless, there is one place that is the definitive BEST in my mind: Sicilia's. Every time I visit Columbus, I make my pilgrimage to Sicilia's for 2 slices, and then 2 more. The pepperoni is my favorite, and at $2 a slice, it is cheaper than most of its competitors. It is greasy: I wouldn't judge people who blot this delicacy with a napkin, because some might consider it excessive. The crust relatively thin, but thick around the edge. Sauce level is lower-moderate, and the cheese amount is spot-on. Words can't do it justice-you really just have to try it. This past week: I was given a relatively meager slice and politely asked for a different/supplemental slice. The guy laughed and just as I was about to leave, he recognized the error of his ways and gave me a supplemental slice for free. Service is not included in this review, but it is a most certainly unexpected perk. "There are many fish in the sea": you could extrapolate this phrase to pizza shops near campus. You will come to appreciate Sicilia's once you have tried the rest.

This is the one pizza place in existence where a half and half pizza counts as twice as many ingredients. Two ingredients x 1/2 + two ingredients x 1/2 does not equal a four topping pizza... They're also incredibly rude here. Go to one of the many, many better pizza places around campus.

No, YOU love gyros, especially after throwing back some adult beverages right next door at Out-R-Inn! Wait, no, that is me. Cheap, surprisingly decent gyros. Three, because the one other item on the menu I've sampled was their pizza fries (yeah, sounded really good with the aid of alcohol) which turned out to be quasi-inedible. It was just blechish fries covered in marinara sauce and cheese. Not some place to seek out, but when in the area, worth a stop.

Ordered online tonight. Waited two hours for the delivery to get here. I get it, it's a Friday night and places are busy. Finally, I decided just to call and see if everything was ok. The guy told me that he never received my order yet my card was still charged. I asked him if he could refund my money and he told me I had to call customer service and he couldn't refund me even though I had a reciept. The representative told me that it was confirmed that they got my order. Waited two hours for nothing. Thanks guys. You officially lost a loyal customer.

I've only ever ordered delivery, but my food is always delivered within an hour and the delivery guy is friendly. He even remembered me when I moved apartments! The pizza is so-so but it's cheap and they have great meal deals. I personally like the pasta the best. The chicken alfredo and gnocchi al forno are delicious and the portions are very generous. I always have leftovers.

Let me start by saying the food wasn't bad. It wasn't great, and I wouldn't order it again, but it wasn't bad either, just nothing special. What WAS bad was the service, or lack thereof. While in town on business I placed an order through GrubHub, entering the full name and address of the Hotel, along with my room number. After about 35 minutes I get a telephone call from the driver asking me where I am located. I gave him the hotel name and address twice on the telephone and he then asked me where in the city it was located. According to GrubHub, the restaurant is only 2 miles away from the Hotel! We finally got that sorted through and he told me he was on his way. 15 minutes later I receive another phone call. The driver states he is in the lobby of the hotel, and I will have to come down to the lobby to pick up my food because he is "not allowed to come upstairs". I'm in the area often and have ordered delivery from quite a few places, and this is the first time I have ever been told I have to come down to the lobby to pick up my food. So I go down to the lobby and the driver is there, on the phone. I take my food from him and he starts to walk away. I asked "where is my receipt"? He says "I only have my receipt, I don't have one for you". Who doesn't provide a receipt? He then tells me "just go on line and print one", and starts walking away. I tell him no, I want a receipt now. So he ends up asking the desk attendant at the hotel to make a photo copy of the receipt he has. As I stated, the food wasn't bad, but based on what I went through to get it, it should have been much better. I guess it is my fault for ordering from a place that offers free delivery to College Dorms but no where else in the area.

This pizza is one of the best on campus. I would frequently walk down to the end of Frambes just to grab a slice late at night. The guys working have very heavy accents, but always understand my order. The few times that I have ordered delivery it has been very slow. Overall, great tasting pizza.

I had Sicilia's for the first time about 2 years ago. I ordered a pasta combo, and it was terrible. The pasta was really soft and the sauce was not good. I did not order again until recently. My most recent experience was much better. I ordered pizza, wings and a drink. The pizza was really tasty! There was a TON of cheese (which I love) and the sauce was not overwhelming. The crust had a perfect texture of soft on the inside and a little crunch on the outside. The wings were decent. They were soggy when they arrived at my house, but I guess that can be expected for delivery wings. The sauce was a little spicy for being "mild." Overall, the food was pretty good. I'm glad I gave them another shot. I would stay away from any pasta dish, though.

My first experience with Sicilia did not go so well, and I still wouldn't order any pasta dishes from them. However, after ordering from them a few more times, I must admit they make some of the better pizza in Columbus for the price, and their service is usually pretty great. Whenever my friends want to order pizza, I usually convince them to get the 2 pizzas + wings + soda combo from Sicilia.

The mega fries are awesome and the pizza (the "Pancetta" pizza even though it didn't have any actual pancetta on it) was pretty good. I just wished they used actual bacon instead of.... turkey bacon... or maybe it's Canadian bacon? Whatever it is, it's not the bacon I know and love. But anyway, the crust is decently thin but has a nice puff at the edge. Super soft and with a pleasant hint of garlic. Would've been better if it weren't burnt, but that's probably not an every time thing. Toppings were sufficient, pretty average alfredo sauce for the places around here. Delivery was 16 minutes early, that was nice. Edit: Take-out is a hassle, don't do it. They share a patio with some bar and there's no other way to get there. I almost had to show my ID to pick up pizza! Wasn't even worth it when I got home. I tried the white pizza and it didn't taste like they even used cheese. Wonderful crust and bland alfredo sauce. Gyro was average.

I have been ordering from this place a lot lately. The food is oh-so delicious. I haven't tried the pizza or gyros that are mentioned so heavily in other reviews, but those reviewers seem to have stopped in first hand. Since I'm ordering, and the pizza looks questionable, I think I'll stick to the pasta. Let me tell you, the pasta is damn good! The Gnocchi di Ricotta was fantastic. I will be ordering it again very soon. I've also had an alfredo dish or two. This stuff is gooey goodness. Lots of cheese, cooked as close to perfection as you are going to find being delivered to your doorstep. Also, they usually quote me an avg of 45 minutes to one hour, but are regularly knocking 30 minutes later. Most of the pasta dishes come with garlic bread. The bread could be better, but it's basically free so I'm not complaining.

For a pizza joint connected to a bar Sicilia is pretty good. The pizza is at very low prices and the menu offers many other specialties one might find in a pizzeria (I'm quite partial to their 'Sicily' calzone). The restaurant space is on the small side. I think there may only be three or four tables, but most people don't eat in there anyway. The staff is very friendly and will come to know your habits. I like Sicilia, but the quality of food could be better. Granted the prices are dirt cheap, but there could be less grease.

Man is this place awesome if you find yourself hungry during a night of drinking at Out-R-Inn. It couldn't be closer - it's literally right next door. And what's best about it is that the front porch area is sort of shared with Out-R-Inn and you're allowed to take the pizza in there to eat if you want, so you can call or go over and place an order and then go over there, pick up your pizza and bring it back to your table to eat while you continue to drink. I've done this on several occasions and the pizza really hits the spot when you're out for a night of drinking. Sicilia is on Frambes, north of OSU campus. I used to live on Norwich, which is just a street over. So while I'd come to Out-R-Inn pretty often, I never got a pizza from Sicilia unless I was out drinking at Out-R-Inn already. The pizza is great when you're out drinking, but I honestly never craved it for dinner on a regular night or anything. I would venture to say that a high percentage of Sicilia's customers are Out-R-Inn patrons. There really isn't anything all that special about the pizza. It's good drunk food, though. It's pretty soft and chewy and while the sauce doesn't have a whole lot of flavor, they do use a lot of cheese. Thus it's pretty greasy on top, but I do love some greasy pizza when I'm drinking. If you eat it right at the bar it's piping hot and I think it's significantly better that way. There isn't much to Sicilia, so I would suggest getting your pizza and sitting at Out-R-Inn to enjoy it, unless you wanted to take it home. I usually just got pepperoni pizzas since we were often sharing with friends and it's something that everyone would eat. But they had all kinds of toppings to choose from. There are also calzones, sandwiches, pastas and things like that, but I was always excited about the pizza. It was fast, too. It would usually only take them about 15 minutes to cook it, so we could go back and pick it up quickly. Sicilia also delivers. Sicilia is cheap enough. It's about $9 for a large one topping pizza. Not bad, especially if you're at the bar with a group of people and you're all throwing down on it. There are also coupons in the Saver if you live near campus. It's always great to have cheap pizza to soak up your beer. It's open late, too. Sicilia Fine Italian Specialties might be a little too elaborate of a name for this place. While the food is good, it's definitely not authentic Italian or gourmet by any means. This place thrives because of its proximity to the bar.

Oh Sicilia's. The countless late night gyro's I have gotten from you. I remember the one time that I left my purse here at 2:00am because I was so excited about my food. Sam, the guy behind the counter, made sure that he kept my purse safe and sound until I busted in frantic that I had lost it. Gyro's are some of the best on campus. The specialty pizzas (like the white pizza) are super yummy too. For a quick, cheap bite Scilia's is a definite winner!

My favorite pizza place on campus! I've had probably every pizza around here and this is by far the best! I'm not talking about the pizza by the slice you get after drinking a few at Our R Inn. I'm talking about an actual whole pie, made fresh for you, the way you like it. I often dream about making a special trip to Columbus, just to have Sicilia's!

Running a pizza joint attached to one of the rowdiest and most popular bars in the OSU area sure does have its perks. A steady stream of business from drunk college kids every night around last call is one of them, but the most vital is the fact that their pizza barely even needs to be edible to fly off the racks night by night. Sicilia's pizza is about as greasy and salty as it comes, but considering the other options available to Out R Inn patrons (i.e. PJ's and their arsenal of deep-fried slop), they could do a lot worse. I have a preference for thick, chewy, doughy pizza that you can fold in half and wring out on to your plate, so it's no surprise that Sicilia always hits the spot after a night of drinking next door. The pizza can get a bit tough when it's been left in the heating rack for too long, but if you join the afterhours rush and get a piece that's fresh out of the oven, I may dare to say that I'd even eat this stuff sober. Like I said before, I sure have eaten worse. The other items on the menu are generic "Italian" items that were most likely ordered readymade from the same food service supplier as 90% of the other munchie food dealers that line High Street. Take the calzone, for example. It comes in two varieties, and neither of them can be altered in any way. If that's not a dead give away that Sicilia simply takes it out of a box and thaws it before serving it to you, then I don't know what is. the mozzarella sticks are always a hit, but it's the same exact deal: you've had these exact same mozzarella at least five other times in your life. Sicilia is always good for something to stuff your face with on the walk home, but authentic Italian food is something that it is not.

everybody has a go to drunk food spot. Living in the dorms mine was always catfish biffs(fully and totally to blame for the freshman 15). Probably more location than anything I thought this was gods gift to earth. As I matured I don't know whether it was more refined taste or sheer laziness to walk all the way down to 11th but I found a new pizza place in scilia. I'm not going to lie I have never eaten it sober, but drunk it sure is the greasiest , best tasting pizza on campus. Wherever I end up when I graduate I hope the local pizza place is as satisfying at 3am.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
