Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I really like Figlio! Wood-fired pizza, pasta dishes, and what more do you need? Cocktails and a wine list. Very good service, A warm atmosphere. Good value. I recently saw one of these in Kettering, so it looks like they are expanding. I predict great success, because this place is excellent.

I finally caved in to trying Figlio after hearing SecondMom rave about the place over and over. So I find myself at Figlio one breezy Saturday evening with SecondMom and her sister. I was surprised at how small the restaurant was (or rather how busy it was seeing how it was only 5pm.) In fact, they had to open up Vino Vino next door to seat the growing line by the door. Because Figlio was known for its wood fired pizzas, I settled with the goat cheese pizza. Goat cheese and bacon sounded heavenly at the time. I was somewhat disappointed when I bit into the pizza. While it looked delicious, it was far from tasting that way. In fact, it was a bit bland mostly due to their sparing on cheese. Both SecondMom and her sister ordered the Basil Chicken with Feta pasta. Apparently it was THE dish for SecondMom since that's the only thing she gets there. It was imperative that I try a little bit to see if it was actually that great. My pizza paled in comparison to the pasta dish, and I think it was due to the basil pesto sauce done right. (Then again, I'm probably not the person to critique on pasta dishes since I hardly order pastas at restaurants.) The dessert menu was not all that impressive. Figlio owners made the claim that their tiramisu was imported from New York. Had SecondMom not bought desserts from The French Loaf, that would have been my dessert.

I give this place 4.5 stars. I really like the food here and service is great. I liek the risotto they had on special. It's a little crowded all the time though. The wine seems a little pricey.
(4)Aine C.
yum. this place has very tasty food and great service.
(4)Matt W.
Love this place and everything about it. The one only downfall is the tight seating/room/space. Still one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus/Ohio.
(5)Chris L.
The service at Figlio is excellent. I went in hopes of finding good, Neopolitan style pizza in my neighborhood. The pizza was a bit lackluster. Not a lot of flavor, very typical toppings. I just expected more. The wine list is good, and outside seating is available.
(2)Pink C.
I was really excited to try this place because it gets such good reviews, but I did not like it at all. I even went there twice because I was convinced the first time was a fluke. The problem for me and my friends was the amount of oil slathered on every item. The pizza is brushed with oil and the pasta was swimming in it. I couldn't finish my meal and it actually made me a little queasy.
(2)Matthew M.
I remember going into Figlio a few years ago with a girl i was just beginning to date and feeling like the seating inside was just too smashed together. The pizza was very refined and tasty, though. the prices are stout and the place is generally a little too posh for me, but it is a good choice for a date, especially if you can get a seat where you are not just inches away from an adjacent table.
(4)christopher c.
over the past few years figlio has become one of my favorite places to take my girlfriend. the prices are reasonable, the service and food is excellent, and it has a nice cozy/casual atmosphere. it's not ideal for a fancy dinner date, but it's just a great place to grab a bite to eat if you're craving italian. typically my girlfriend and i would share a pizza and the chicken marsala.
(5)Jeff G.
Fantastic pizza. bread, salads and service etc...... There is one problem. Tiny flies floating around your food. Maybe to hard to eliminate but very unpleasant while trying to enjoy dinner. They need to address it.
(3)Jen R.
One of my favorite places in Columbus and the place I consistently recommend to out-of-town guests looking for a place to eat. One of the couples I recommended it to loved it so much they ate there two nights in a row and came back on their next trip (and he's a chef). Great wine selection. Minimal, but classy decor. Nice, intimate, but relaxed ambiance. The food is the real star though. The pizzas are amazing, especially any of the mushroom pizzas. I can't even describe what makes the pizzas here so good, but something about the texture and taste puts all other chain pizza places to shame. Probably some sort of combination of high-quality olive oil and magic. I've always found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful, if a little busy. It's a small, but busy place and there's not much room to maneuver around. Parking in Grandview is always an adventure, but there's a little lot to the side of Figlio and Vino vino where you can try and get a spot if you're there early in the evening.

My first few visits to Figlio were great experiences. Service was top-notch and food always arrived relatively quickly. However, I visited last week with a few friends to celebrate a birthday and was very disappointed in our experience there. We arrived at 7:45, right on time with our reservation. It was restaurant week so understandably, it was quite crowded. Our waitress came over to give us menus and then seemed to have migrated to the bar area to chat with her coworkers. We waited an exceedingly long time for her to return and take our orders. By the time we received our drinks, it was about 8:15. She took our orders and noted that one of my friends had a serious food allergy. After that, she basically forgot about us. We waited over an hour for our pizza to arrive, during which most of the restaurant week crowd had departed. She returned with our food but said that the pizza was made without the food allergy in mind, and that she would make sure to have another one made. So my friends and I waited on the final pizza. By the time that arrived, our food had gotten cold. We couldn't get a hold of our waitress so we spoke to another one who brought the manager over. He apologized (somewhat half-heartedly) and promised to provide the meal free of charge to the birthday girl. By the time our food was reheated and brought to us, it was past 9:00pm. We finished our food and our waitress returned to apologize and offer us desserts, free of charge. I would have given them 3 stars but I have to give them credit for providing desserts and paying for the birthday girl's menu. However, the experience soured our special occasion and I'd hesitate to return during peak hours again. Despite my most recent experience, I can't deny the fact that I LOVE their pizza selection. I've never had anything else on their menu besides pizza, so I can't comment on the quality of their pasta dishes. However can say with confidence that their pizza is delicious, and there are enough options to try something new every time. The portion size is also appropriate, just enough to fill you up.

This place was delicious! It's a tiny restaurant, so you'll need to be comfortable with being cramped if it's busy. The service is great though. I ordered the Chicken and Mushroom Ravioli. Perfecto! The flavors were perfect together and the sauce was divine. I actually ate about 95% which is more than I can usually handle lol. But the serving size isn't as big as the usual Italian restaurant. Compared to Olive Garden, it's definitely smaller portion. But I was okay with that. No doggy bag this time. I will be going back and trying other dishes because I'm very curious now, after having that delicious ravioli. They had a decent beer and wine menu too but I didn't order any at the time. I suggest you give it a try!
(5)Zack R.
The pizza is very good. On par with Bono and Harvest. The restaurant is busy; lively, and snug. If you don't like cramped places, you might want to stay away. Being sat in the middle of the room was nearly pretty dangerous for most of the servers. Any time any of us at our table even remotely moved an appendage away from our chair or table, we hit someone walking by with plates of food or a glass of wine in their hand. Yikes. Be careful. The pasta bolognese, which my wife got, was perfectly cooked. Slightly al dente, with a really nice tasting sauce with plenty of beef and pork. The classic Figlio pizza was delicious as well. We finished with the, uh, well "our all-time favorite dessert", as it appeared on the menu. I can't remember what it was called, but it had Haagen Dazs ice cream, Oreos, Heath Bars, etc. Just get it. It was awesome. Our server was pretty slow, but he was a nice guy and we tipped him well.

I want to start off by saying this is not your typical Bravo or Brio, it is much more than that!! My boyfriend took me here on our very first date and we've been back many times since! The flatbreads are to die for. My favorite is the truffled mushroom and chicken avocado. The craziest thing is, I didn't even like mushrooms before this! The pastas are also amazing. The portions aren't overwhelming and they will not cheat you on any ingredients. My recommendation is the drunken shrimp. My advice? Make reservations, especially if you plan on coming here on a weekend. The restaurant is very small and there isn't much of a 'waiting room' either. The area by the front door can become very cramped if you have a wait for a table. Also, this isn't a good place for big groups because of the size but a PERFECT place for a first date :)
(5)Erica R.
Chain pizza restaurants never quite hit the spot the same way once you've had the perfection of Figlio's wood-fired pizza! Seriously, the taste is second to none and the atmosphere is worthy kudos. There are several options on the pizza menu, from the traditional, to speciality to making your own, as well as a splattering of other menu items -- and though I've yet to sample the entire menu, my selections thus far have proved exceptional in taste and in presentation. Figlio's is a treat that I am always looking for. Many, many, many thumbs up!

Atmosphere- dark but quaint Service- Awesome! Our waitress was so nice. Food- My friends and I food shared so I tried Basil Chicken with Feta, Mussel and Shrimp "Cioppino" Pasta, and Housemade Spicy Fennel Sausage. I really like their thin crust pizza because you can eat the whole thing and not feel heavy. The angel hair in the seafood pasta was a little soft for me. The Basil chicken was delicious. If I'm craving for pasta/pizza, I would come here!
(4)Christopher P.
VERY IMPRESSED. Small place big on wood fired pizza flavor. As some others mentioned its a great spot for a date because its like a fine dining restaurant but with the feel of a slightly more casual pizza place. I'm late writing this review as I went during restaurant week so I got to try a few selections from the menu....all EXCELLENT. I had some delicious corn chowder type dish to start off with. The bread with the dipping oil was so good I could have filled up on it myself. I decided to try the chicken pesto pizza and I was very glad I did! Delicious with perfectly cooked crust....the pesto and olives set the whole thing off. Flavor explosion. I wasn't a big fan of the tables being so close to each other but the food and service were so great that I cant wait to go back and try more things on the menu. This place gets my official stamp of approval!
(5)Kevin S.
Alrigh this place is awesome. I got the chicken Diablo and it was phenomenal. Had just the right amount of spiciness and so much flavor. The pizza looked really good. You get bread before hand and that was good. Would highly recommend this place. Also helps the waitress were very attractive.
(5)Joe D.
Looking for good food and great service then this is the place. With choices to dine in or outside. Have nothing bad to say and the prices are very reasonable!

There are a lot of good Italian/pizza eats along the short strip of Grandview Ave. (Trattoria Roma, Z Cucina, Panzera's, Z Pizza, Vino Vino, Spagio Wine Lounge); however, Figlio has been my favorite for several years now. Unlike it's attached twin sister (Vino Vino), Figlio is more about the food than drink. Subtle flavors are added to create complexity to Italian classics like ravioli, pizza, chicken marsala, and several varieties of pasta. This isn't a mom and pop Italian restaurant with checkered table clothes where spaghetti is served with fist sized meatballs. Figlio is creamy and gooey and garlicky like Italian should be, but it's done in a way that can be savored by discerning palates. Even their espresso is high quality. The plates are portioned correctly so if you're looking for buffet quantities, then you'll be disappointed. But with complimentary fresh bread and EVO+herbs, you won't go hungry. The pizza option makes it a good choice with kids, but it's not a great environment for really small children. Of the two Columbus locations, Figlio Grandview feels more like a small group restaurant. "Cozy" and "quaint" come to mind as you watch the wood burning oven churn out pizzas. That being said, there is a private room in the back that you can reserve for big enough parties. Personally, I prefer the Grandview location; it feels more light, airy, and energetic. Not just for Italian restaurants but for all Grandview restaurants, Figlio definitely ranks with the best.
(5)Minna C.
The food tasted great. The portions were pretty small for the price. It could also be because there were five of us and we were all trying to try the different dishes. We got the truffle mushroom pizza, shrimp pesto pizza, bistro seafood pasta, chicken diablo pasta and the spinach argula salad! We were here in time for the happy hour so we got the pizzas for 5$ each and each of us were able to enjoy a martini. Its a casual vibe~~ and their tiramisu cake is the perfect dessert!!

This should probably be a 3 and a half star rating but they don't let you do this. Went for Restaurant Week. First visit in a while. Had reservations and were promptly seated. Let me say this, the service as excellent. The staff is very young but pleasant. Not in that "I'm Wendy, your waitress, and everything here is A-MAZ-ING" way but efficient, professional and just nice. The place filled up quickly and the noise level was very high but not Cameron Mitchell-place high. All in all the atmosphere was very pleasant. The food was good, too. Not great. Good. I went with the restaurant week menu. The crab and corn chowder, in a cup that could have served as a shot glass, was tasty. Good, even though there was no discernible crab in it. However, with such a small portion (so small it was served with a teaspoon, not a soup spoon. A soup spoon would not have fit in the cup) that it just may have not been scooped up. Also, the menu did not mention it being spicy, but it was (more on this later). My entree of chicken with roasted red pepper cream sauce was good, a cut above Brio/Bravo. The flavors worked well but the linguine it was placed over was bland and boring. Also, it was, without being mentioned, a bit spicy. I like food that is spicy hot. My wife cannot eat it. Everyone now seems to think that you add interest to a dish by adding heat. That is simply not true and it is doubly not true in most southern European cuisines. And not everyone does spicy well. It should be noted on the menu. It would save a lot of ordering mistakes. My chocolate silk pie was very good. My wife's Greek pizza (she ordered a la carte) was dry. The flavors were OK but it was not interesting enough to take home what was left. The three other diners had about the same experience. One, who has spent a lot of time in Italy, declared that his bolognese sauce was not at all authentic, but was good. All in all, worth going to and worth going back. Just don't set your sights too high and remember to ask if the dishes are spicy, since no one seems to want to tell you.

Three words: truffled mushroom pizza. I have found a new religion, inspired by this unbelievable godsend of a pizza. Everything on the menu looks so good but I can't...detach...myself. TRUFF MUSH PIZZA IS SO GOOD. TOO GOOD. DELIZIOSO. ALL HAIL FIGLIO. The wine selection is also boss. The owners of figlio narrate the time they tried the wine in their world travels, which is kind of neat. And an Italian meal is incomplete without wine. So splurge and order a bottle. It'll be worth your time. Did I mention the truffled mushroom pizza? This is by far one of the best values In Columbus. Two pizzas and a bottle o' vino --$55. I'll take it. The gourmet pizzas are only ~$13 each and easily fill you up with leftovers to spare, unless you are my boyfriend, Sir Bottomless Pit.

Unassuming looks, but really great food. When I walked up to Figlio, I wasn't overly impresed with the facade but when I got inside I found a cute, intimate restaurant and was immediately hit with the smell of wood burning pizza. When I walked in, I just kind of stood and had to wait a few awkward seconds for someone to approach me since they don't have a hostess stand or anything. Finally a waitress sat me at a table by the window. The food was great. We started off with 2 artisan pizzas as appetizer, the truffled mushroom which was AMAZING and the chicken with feta which was lacking in flavor and was just ok. For dinner I had their crab ravioli with shrimp in a vodka sauce which was awesome as well. The portion of the ravioli was perfect...just enough. This is a place that I would certainly visit again if I'm in the Grandview area.

This time I wanna try a pasta, so I search on yelp and Figlio was the first one appearing on my search result. This restaurant was great. It is an Italian restaurant and there are a lot Italian pasta and pizza. The space was small, I could say just enough. Each table was pretty closed. And the environment was not quilt. In opposite, there was a little noisy. I ordered a Basil Chicken with Feta Pasta. This pasta is linguine in a basil pesto sauce with chicken, roasted red peppers, tomato, pine nuts and feta. It was not bad, and the basil pesto sauce with feta tasted nice. But the dish was too much oil when I was keep eating. By the way, I love their appetizer. They would provide a small dish of bread, and you can dip in some spices with olive oil. But I don't know which spices they used. But I love it.
(4)Scott C.
The service was fantastic. Atmosphere was pretty good. Plenty of choices on the menu. The food was quite tasty and reasonably priced. My only real beef with the place is the extremely small portion sizes. I never order dessert but had to here in hopes of walking away with a fairly fully belly. Just as the entrée, the dessert was delectable but oh my Goodness, so very small. Pasta is cheap, and they do it right at Figlio, just please put a little more food on the plate! This would be the only reason I may not return.
(4)Steve S.
Great food great service. I just wish they would change up the menu more often. But over all great meal !!!
(4)Crystal P.
This place is always amazing. One of my favorite place to go in Columbus. I always get there wood fired flatbread pizza and it's amazing. They have the best sweet bacon for a topping! Yum!
(5)Amy K.
Solid! My husband and I dined at Figlio last night for my birthday. We were greeted and seated promptly, the service was attentive, but not overly, and the pizzas were outstanding. We had a Margarita plus-plus (they put avocado on after it comes out of the oven) on a whole wheat crust--it was crunchy and perfect--and a build-your-own with spinach and mushrooms. The sauce was so fresh and the ingredients all carefully chosen. We split a beautiful raspberry creme brûlée and with two Chianti's the bill came to around $50. Not bad for a lovely night out.
(5)Nicole D.
If I ever opened a restaurant, I want it to taste as good as Figlio! I had the housemade spicy fennel sausage pizza. Very very good. The sausage has the right amount of heat; crust is crispy and the that wood fired char on the bottom just reminds me thats how real pizza is supposed to be made! Great service too! The couple next to us knocked over their water glass and BAM!! 2 mins later they had it all cleaned up! I will have to come back and try their pasta, and dessert of course!
(5)Rosa N.
Great food, plenty of parking, cost affordable. Kids menu has plenty of healthy choices.
(5)Katye M.
I've been to Figlio's before and absolutely love it! This time, I was able to take a family member. I can't say enough good things about Figlio... the bread is great and the entree's are amazing. This time, I had a pesto and feta pasta (fabulous) and my family member had the mushroom pizza. I also had a salad and it was really good! We couldn't stop there... we also had the creme brulee, which was amazing as well. The only downside is how close the tables are together and how loud the atmosphere is. I would recommend Figlio (Grandview location) to anyone!
(5)Corey Tess T.
Cute place in Grandview. I met some girlfriends here for a gossipy dinner of giggles, pasta and wine... It was fun. The area is very cute, but parking can be a challenge. I had the new corn salsa and chicken flatbread - it was really good. I love cilantro! The tables are a little crowded together, reminded me of Paris or Italy - the way they pack you in there... it is okay, unless you are trying to get loud or sitting next to someone who is annoyed by crazy laughing and girls who got jokes.. not that I am saying that happened... but if you plan to get loud, hopefully you are sitting next to fun people and not uptight people. The wine was good and there is a wine bar connected VINO VINO - so they have lots of choices. Nice strong coffee for dessert - the chocolate cake was good but the frozen tort was too hard and icy for my taste. I should have had the creme brulee.
(4)Julia V.
Always yummy! And the service is always great!
(5)Tim S.
3.5 Stars. This is a nice restaurant with reasonable prices and a casual, sophisticated, yet relaxing atmosphere. Yet, for some reason, I do not find myself saying "Lets go to Figlio tonight!". The pizza is solid, its your wood-fired, fresh topping pizza that is not greasy what-so-ever. They have some unique topping combinations, they have quality, fresh salads and they have a solid wine selection. So again, I ask myself, why do I not go to Fligio more often? I still don't know. They also offer some solid pasta selections - again the theme of this place is certainly fresh and light tasting food. Maybe one of these days I will figure out why I don't go here more often, and maybe then it will get the full four star review.
(4)Brian D.
Pizza night this week found my ass planted at Figlio. The service was exceptional (as it should be in a pizza joint that sports white table cloths and a nice wine list). Yes, this is artisan pizza. Don't come into Figlio looking for a 16 inch traditional pizza. The pies being too small for two people, we ordered up a couple (our traditional pepperoni and mushroom and the margherita "plus plus" ). The "plus plus" came on the honey wheat crust, which is exceptional - crispy on the outside, a little chewy in the middle inside the rim and slightly sweet. We actually both liked the margherita better than our normal favorite. Go for the honey wheat crust, you won't be disappointed (most times I prefer the taste of regular over wheat, not so at Figlio). The pizza is not quite as good as Harvest or Bono (my other two artisan pizza faves), but the dine-in atmosphere and service are great. A solid four stars.
(4)Laura H.
This is a nice intimate setting and they do a good job with gluten free options. It can get a little chilly (they don´t have anything around the front door to keep the cold air from blowing inside). They have good, attentive service and generous portions.
(5)Dana B.
This is a great casual, low-key date spot. The service has always been great and the little patio is nice and cozy. We love the Margherita Plus Plus pizza (wheat crust and slices of avocado) and the bread/herbs and dipping oil. The wine list is meh, and we wander down to Spagio for dessert.
(4)John S.
We have been fans of Figlio for many years and here's why: 1) Figlio makes for a great date-night restaurant. The restaurant may seem cramped, but its by design. It has a very cosmopolitan feel and you sit pretty close to your neighbors while you're enjoying dinner. 2) They have a great wine selection (they are jointly attached to Vino-Vino next door. 3) The Salads and flat-bread pizzas are very well prepared and keep us coming back for more. 4) The owners are a wonderful local couple who obviously take real pride in their product and even take the time to check up on their guests. Figlio; don't change a thing. -You're one of our favorite restaurants in town!
(4)Tom R.
Had the pleasure of dining at the Grandview Avenue location on Jan 2. I have an onion allergy which some restaurants are not able to accomodate. Our server Kallan was absolutely awesome in not only finding which dishes were off limits but making suggestions. She had the chef do a modified sauce for us and while I have no clue what it was suppose to taste like, the result was awesome. While the food was very good, it was made better by Kallan's bubbly personality and "can-do" attitude. Attentive without hovering. My hat off to the chef and especially Kallan.
(5)Adrienne C.
Nothing impressive or noteworthy about Figlio's pasta, pizza, or salad. Food-wise, they're just like any other perfectly average Italian restaurant. It's a tiny place so be prepared to be bump into people when you're awkwardly waiting in the front for your table. There's technically a bar area but it feels super cramped and the people who work there give off the vibe that you're in their way. I was annoyed that even though we had a reservation we had to stand around waiting for 10 minutes and the hostess was not apologetic. They should try to be warmer and more hospitable in the front, especially if they're running behind schedule. pro: they make SUPER strong gin martinis
(3)Minchen H.
I have to say this restaurant impressed me! I am not a fan of Italian food before I went to this restaurant. But now, I like it! I ordered the "Chick diablo" and it really tastes good. The dish is consist of chicken slice, pasta, tomato and a brillant special sauce. When the waitress saw my order, she said I made a good choice because "Chick diablo" is one of their best seller in the past 20 years! After trying it I shall say it really deserve that title at all. Although the dish is good, the restaurant seems a little bit crowd. The space between the tables are narrow, and males can hardly go across them without a struggle. Also, due to the narrow space between tables, you can hear almost every word from the nearby customers when you are enjoying your food, which damage the great mood you get from the food a little bit. Regardless of the negative factors, it is a good restaurant worth for paying a vist!
(4)Doug W.
I guess I was actually in VinoVino, but I meant to go to Figlio and I ordered off of Figlio's menu, so it's all good. The two are connected by an open doorway. I was here for pizza but sampled a few other items as well. The pizza is very good. We had sausage and caramelized onions. The crust is thin and has a texture quite similar to New York pizza. The sausage was housemade and very good as were the onions. Fresh spices make this worth the trip. The pizza is priced about right. Drinks are expensive, but tasty. Desserts are also good.
(4)Kiara E.
I couldn't hear a damn thing my friends were saying. This place was so MEH. I can't even think of a pro honestly. Here are my cons. Cons: -Overpriced -Next to no parking...bring your walking shoes! -The tables are SO CLOSE. I can hear EVERYTHING YOU ARE SAYING except for the people who I WANT to hear. -No appetizers...what is up with that? I got food, I ate food, we left. The food wasn't horrible. That's it.

a great little shop, hindered only by the smaller space. +1 for participating in columbus restaurant week. gave us a good excuse to visit. +1 for accepting OpenTable reservations. -1 for having to wait 10 minutes past our reservation time -1 for not having a vestibule. cold (or hot, depending on the season) rushes into the restaurant every time someone enters/exits. -1 for not having a large enough waiting area. we were crammed in like sardines next to the door. +1 for super-friendly, professional service. she gave us honest recommendations, and she was right. +0 for overall atmosphere. nice wall decorations. -1 for very tight seating arrangement. tables are very close together. it's intimate, but perhaps not with the people you came with. :) -1 for loud ambient noise. might have to do with the acoustic properties of the ceiling in the small room. -1 for lighting that was a bit too bright for evening. dimming those lights would add a lot to the restaurant's ambiance. +1 for trendy music. +1 for GREAT dipping oil + spices. the spices really make it unique. see pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/S2sU… +1 for great Pesto Chicken Pizza (grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, kalamata olives, tomatoes, pine nuts and basil pesto sauce). see pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/S2sU… +1 for my date's Beef Tenderloin Medallions (on linguine with a red wine reduction sauce and asparagus). see pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/S2sU… +1 for good Warm Apple Walnut Cake (with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce). see pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/S2sU… +1 for good Chocolate Silk Pie (with a crushed graham/pecan crust and fresh whipped cream). nice presentation. see pic: yelp.com/biz_photos/S2sU… since we were so close, we could see the plates served to the folks around us. they looked great! i almost asked a stranger if i could try their entree... overall, food = 5 stars. atmosphere = 4 stars. recommended. we will return!

Moving on to the last stop of our evening was not much of a move at all - quite literally we walked next door and within moments were in the crowded foyer of Figlio, the first of three similarly named wood-fired pizzerias in a slow-growing franchise started by Buckeye grads Peter and Laurie Danis as far back as 1991 and the only restaurant on the day's tour with any inklings of "fine dining," as well given their white tablecloths and a proper reservations system. Greeted by the door first by one hostess and then by another our request for a table of five was first met with some hesitancy - "I'll have to check with the reservationist," then by a suggestion that perhaps they would shuffle some tables, and finally by the most logical suggestion - that they could simply seat us at the attached Vino-Vino Wine bar and serve us from the Figlio menu...a compromise that ended up working perfectly as the wine bar was less than half full and less than one fourth as loud. Seated quickly at a 6 seater booth/table and greeted by our server, a lovely young lady whose smile instantly made me forget about the lack thereof next door at Cowtown, we were presented menus and on declining wine our water glasses were filled (never to reach half empty) while my aunt opted for an iced tea as we weighed our options...and our hunger. Feeling a bit bad because we weren't planning to drink and given the duration of the day weren't all that hungry (thereby decreasing our total bill and tip despite the restaurant and service being so accommodating) our eventual decision was to go with two pizzas and two desserts and with orders placed the wait would be perhaps 15 minutes before our two pies would arrive simultaneously. Again going the route of one house-special and one do-it-yourself, our first selection was the "Margherita Plus Plus" with a Honey Whole Wheat with Basil, Tomatoes, Avocado, Mozzarella, and Balsamic glaze - it would be my second favorite pizza of the day and #1 for a couple of others. Beginning first with the crust, it was unlike any other on the trip and although sweeter than the standard crust at Figlio both of them performed well with regard to exterior crunch, interior pliability, and heterogeneous airy crumb while unfortunately lacking that woodsy char - it was as close as I've found in Columbus to a California style crust but certainly not on par with that at Harvest in terms of being a true Neapolitan style. Moving on to the ingredients - with this option again leaning towards California style (where the Danis' duo learned much of their pizza making) it certainly was not a traditional pie, but at the same time with the creamy avocados balancing the sweet tomatoes and balsamic glaze it was quite good though all in all the cheese was mostly overwhelmed by the substantial flavor of the entirety of the rest of the pie. Moving on to the make your own we opted for a Standard Crust with Tomato Sauce, Caramelized Bacon, Artichokes, Cherry Tomatoes, and Mozzarella. With the crust similar but less sweet than the honey whole wheat this was another excellent pie largely because of the quality of both the chokes and the tomatoes and given their restrained nature how they highlighted the more subtle buttery flavors of the cheese. While the bacon was a bit too sweet for some I personally found it to be excellent - particularly as a savory foil to the tomatoes. With pizzas consumed our server returned with the dessert menu and although some complained that they were "too full" the options were simply too good to pass up leading us to select two options and five forks, the first of which was Figlio's Summer Special Strawberry Shortcake with a tender buttermilk biscuit split, sliced strawberries, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, strawberry sauce - a lovely and light treat with the poignant sours of the buttermilk balancing carefully with the sweet whipped cream and perfectly ripe strawberries. While the nitpicky part of me rather wishes they would have sourced a smoother ice cream (why not Jeni's - right down the block?) as opposed to the icy scoop served this is a small complaint as it melted nicely soaking into the otherwise sturdy biscuit. For the second dessert - something a bit more heavy - we sslected the Double Chocolate Red Velvet Cake with three layers of housemade chocolate cake, white chocolate filling, and dark chocolate sour cream frosting - a straight up "American" style dessert - big, bold, and intensely chocolate...the sort of cake you'd get at a birthday and need a glass of milk to wash down, yet at the same time entirely satisfying with notes of dark, light, and milk chocolate all contributing to the dense and flavorful slice.

Let me start off by saying this is a biased review. Two years ago I met a girl there that later became my wife, so there is a soft spot in my heart for Figlio. That being said, the food is great. Tonight, I went there intent on ordering the same pizza that I had the night I met her...but it wasn't on the menu. It was a Kung Pao Shrimp pizza...not a normal dish...but they made it for me anyway and it was great. When a restaurant goes above and beyond to make your night special, that's a big plus. The GM let me in the place 3 hours before they opened too, so I could pick out our "first date" table. If you are a local...you know all about Figlio, if yourr visiting, check it out, you'll love it. It's a small place though, tables are tight. You've been warned.

I've been eating here for years and it's always delicious. My only complaint is that I'd like to see them change up their menu once in a while. It's pretty close to the same as a decade ago (but still delicious!).

OK, the place is a little cramped, but it feels more cosmopolitan than most Columbus joints. Friendly staff, spot on service, clean but not sterile, & great atmosphere. The place is one step short of amazing. It has pretty terrific food, I wanted something other than pizza and was only able to eliminate four dishes of the twenty or so. Finally just guessed on one: homemade crab ravioli with a spicy creamy tomato sauce. Wife went with the 'plus plus' pizza, that was good (but not great). One could argue, that dropping close to $100 for three of us is a little steep, but it really was almost perfect. The food was fresh & flavorful but just was not OMG amazing; it may have been just a personal preference on three menu choice. I couldn't point to one thing i would suggest to make it better, but it just had a little something that's hard to put into words that kept it one step from perfection. Will absolutely go back though, there are still a dozen things on the menu I want to try!
(4)Abi K.
Decent food and service. I ordered their Salmon with linguine. The pasta was deliciously and so was the Salmon. Nice ambiance and it was decently priced (15$ for a typical entree). This restaurant is in a very nice neighborhood with a lot of options to pick and choose from depending on your mood. (Indian, Thai, Italian, American).

I love Figlio. It's my husband and my "go to" restaurant when we want great food, great service, and great prices. I've never once had a poor meal here. Every time I go there I ask for the Blackened Shrimp Pasta (which is no longer on the menu) and every time they tell me that it's no problem at all and they whip up, what is quite possibly, my favorite meal. Paired with Caesar salad, a glass of reisling and ending with the homemade red velvet cake or any of their seasonal desserts and you're in food heaven. I also love the atmosphere. It's laid back and casual but still a nice restaurant with quality food which feels upscale. An awesome place for date night.

Ive been going here for year, and i have never been let down. the atmosphere is very busy and cosy. The staff is friendly and attentive especially my waitress Kellen. She made my table really comfortable with her bright smile. All the dishes in my group including the flat bread pizza was clear out. Vary rare considering ive seen many doggie bags with the group i was with. Ill know ill i be back.

I no longer live in Columbus, but almost every time I visit I try to hit Figlio for a meal. It has never disappointed me. The service is consistently fantastic, great wine selection, reasonable prices and the food is to die for. There are not a lot of vegetarian options as far as pasta dishes go, but the pizzas make up for that. The salmon risotto and crab ravioli are excellent, and the pizzas are always great (I recommend the mushroom, in particular.) It is a small space, so it can be a little cozy, but I wouldn't say it's uncomfortable. On weekend nights it can get rather crowded, so go early to get a spot.

What a wonderful night out - my first C-bus restaurant week and I was elated that Figlio was participating for $20/person! We got almost one of everything and were disappointed with nothing. If you see Jonathan E.'s reviews - he posted great pictures. We started with soup and salad. The crab and corn chowder was my favorite - a delicious lightly creamed tomato broth with crab and a bit of peppery zing. I would bathe in it! The salad was a basic salad buffet (mixed greens, peas, eggs, cheese) but was tasty. To the main course! Seafood pasta was Y-U-M! Chunks of salmon, scallops, and shrimp tossed with bowtie pasta in a red pepper cream. Great. A little too intense on the cream sauce, but my date used bread to sop some up for himself so it all worked out! The chicken pesto pizza was awesome - the perfect amount of basil pesto chicken and cheese on a delicious thin crust. Would definitely get this again! Then dessert. I'm not a big dessert fan, I get pretty full on meals and appreciate decadence in my entree's versus a sugary dessert - but I I think that apple cake may have changed my life. Literally. I want it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The chocolate pie was like eating straight sugar, so I only had a nibble - but if chocolate is your thing I'm sure you will enjoy. Our waiter was pleasant with a great smile. I really appreciate a waiter who is able to be attentive but not pushy and always at the table. Honestly, the only downfall of the place is the unfortunate size - its cramped and hard to have a private conversation because its so loud and everyone is all around.

Really good wood oven pizza!!! Gorgonzola and grapes needs to be tried!!!
(5)Doug O.
Delicious appetizers and wood-fired pizzas. The wine list was impressive, but I'm more of a beer drinker and the beer list was nothing special. Friendly service. The restaurant is very loud and the seating is tight. I really enjoyed my food, but was a bit overwhelmed by the atmosphere. Perhaps I'll try to go back on a slower night during the week.
(4)Larry M.
Great pizza, about the right size for one person. Loved that the menu had plenty of unique selections to choose from. The chicken and avacado pizza was excellent. The service was good, and our food came out fairly quickly. My only complain is that with tight seating arrangements and low ceiling the place can get fairly noisy.
(3)Frank S.
Excellent flatbreads, pastas, and salads; cozy atmosphere; Grandview feel (you know what I'm talking about); and very good service. Figlio really focuses in on these few things and they do them really, really well. We make it a regular occurrence.
(4)Adam K.
Figlio has great pasta dishes, health(ier) flat-bread pizza (w/o all the crazy crust on a typical pizza hut pie), a descent wine selection, and a nicely equipped bar. They have a few signature cocktails that are pretty good as well. I don't think you can go wrong if you're looking for a really good dinner out as to food and drinks. If you have a large group, they have a small room way in the back to accommodate you. We last went with a group of 12 and sat at one table, comfortably. The cool thing was, we actually got quite a bit of privacy due to the room in the back, which only seats two large tables & that's it. The downsides are two-fold... First, it's a little noisy if you're heading out for a romantic date. Secondly, if you want to get your "typical" privacy setting for that romantic date, I'd HIGHLY recommend calling in advance for reservations - and to ask for a table with some privacy. The tables here are super closer together (think "the worst seats at Cheesecake Factory), and you'll feel like you're sitting right next to a stranger who can hear every word of your conversation (esp, considering how loud you have to speak to be heard). Again, I can't reiterate how good the food/drinks are here... just come prepared in advance for what kind of experience you expect - and if you're planning on a more private dinner, be sure to call in advance.

While I did like Figlio, I'm not as wild about it as a lot of other people seem to be. The food was not particularly remarkable. I had the basil pesto chicken with feta - it was good, but I've definitely had better Italian (and I love both basil and pesto). The service was... alright. Our waitress seemed to forget about us for a little while towards the end. It's a nice atmosphere - cute little place with outdoor seating. I will agree it is a nice kind of place for a first date (which is why I was there). It may feel a little cramped though with the tables in such close proximity to each other. Overall, I certainly don't regret going there, but it's not at the top of my list to re-visit. 3 or 3.5 stars.
(3)Lindsay B.
delicious food, superb service. every single employee at figlio greeted us with a smile. their bread is delicious, and their house dressing is even better. we split three pizzas (spicy fennel sausage, red grape & gorgonzola, pear & brie) and each one was better than the next. i'll definitely be back!
(5)Mary Lynn P.
Figlio's chicken marsala has ruined me for all other chicken marsalas. It has a great intimate setting, though it's super tight quarters so having a group event there could be difficult/awkward.
(4)Nicholas J.
Everything is always great and service is friendly and quick. Pizzas are a favorite of mine, but the pasta dishes have always been enjoyable as well. A great place to go on a date or with a small group of friends. I'm not much of a wine person, but I have heard the selection is quite impressive. Be warned though, it does get loud when crowded and it is always busy for dinner at the Grandview location.
(4)Jeremy L.
Great spot, good pizzas and reasonable wine list. Atmosphere is pretty cool also, normally pretty busy.

Normally, if I go to a place with these kinds of pizza I can't get my order in fast enough, but for whatever reason I decided against pizza and went with pasta instead. Good choice! The pasta was amazing, perfectly al dente, and covered in fresh and tasty ingredients. I can be reallllllly picky about meat, but the steak medallions on top were perfectly seasoned and perfectly done. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. The bread they started us out with was also incredibly, and the dipping sauce very tasty. I can see how someone who was claustrophobic might freak out a little when it was busy, but for me it made no difference. The food was so good I'd have sat in my neighbors lap to eat it!
(5)Amanda B.
The first thing I noticed when I went to Figlio is that I was basically sitting in the lap of the lady next to me, even though we were at separate tables. The setup is definitely a bit crowded, which was offputting at first. That said, the food and drinks were good enough that I didn't care. They bring you warm bread with olive oil to dip it in when you first get there, and the pizzas are delicious. There's a very nice wine selection as well. I would say this would be a nice date place, as long as you don't mind getting a little friendly with the people next to you.

We have been going to Figlio forever. Tonight we went for the Restaurant Week deal. If you are not familiar, during this week (and other times during the year) many local restaurants have three course menus for a set price- $15-$35. You have a choice of one two apps, two entrees, and two desserts. I started with a crab and shrimp chowder, which was stellar. Not too rich-light, flavorful, full of seafood. Next was a pesto chicken pizza that had been in the oven for just a hair too long- luckily, I like it toasty brown. My only complaint was that the chicken had suffered from the heat a bit- several pieces were dried out and stringy. Finally, dessert- chocolate silk pie, which was indeed quite silky, topped with a fluff of whipped cream and a crunchy dense crust as a counterpoint. We have never had a bad meal here- we always count them as solid.
(4)Karla C.
Figlio was very busy. VERY loud. There is nothing romantic or intimate about this place as it says in the description. Our food was okay but not to die for. Of the 6 of us the person with the pizza had the best food. Service was fine, but the check in isnt by the front door, had to search for hostess to be seated. Will choose another Italian restaurant if in the area again.
(3)Meredith M.
I really enjoyed our date at Figlio and will be back. At first I didn't like the idea of our table being so close to our neighbors, but the volume in the place was perfect that we hardly noticed. We both had pizzas and they were terrific. I tried the Figlio Classic and Jon created his own, hame, pineapple, bacon. His was much better than mine. The price was right. We were abe to have a romantic dinner for two under $35 with tip, hard to find these days. We will definitley be back here, maybe with some friends.
(4)Zack F.
It gets 4-5 stars for the wine bar and wine tasting events. It gets 3 stars for the food. I have had many great times sharing a large table with interesting strangers and thought provoking conversations during the wine tastings. They are educational without being snooty or intimidating. Beginning wine enthusiasts can attend without embarrassment. The tables in the back are lit perfectly for sharing a great new bottle of wine with friends. The atmosphere makes it all the better.
(4)Ben T.
This was the first time we've eaten here and definitely not the last. The bread and oil is great, the pizzas (five cheese and one other one) were very fresh tasting, and the chicken pasta one of the people at our table had was great. The pizza crust was nearly perfect and something I'll Make a trip back for. The place filled up pretty quick after it opened so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a line most nights.
(4)Christina C.
You had me at good pizza & red wine. Nothing is better than pairing a bold, flavorful slice of pizza with a bold, oaky glass of red wine. Figlio offers the best of both - plus some - in a casual, classy and cozy setting. The menu boasts a diverse mix of Italian-American themed dishes from pizza to pasta to soups and more. As a Grandview resident, this was my first time finally visiting Figlio - after passing by it many times - and the ambiance was perfect for an evening out with girlfriends or a first date. The smell of the the wood fired pizza baking oven is my favorite!
(5)Ellen F.
Wonderful pizza's and salads. These two are the reasons I adore Figilo. The Grandview Ave. location is cozy. Yes, cozy. That's a kind description. It's actually pretty small. Normally smaller restaurants are warmer on the inside, especially if there's a fire oven in the corner, but unfortunately, I was sat directly under the air-conditioner. I hate being cold!!!! But it's okay, I brought a scarf. I always get the Balsamic Salad, for $5.50. It's simply mixed greens, pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes and gorgonzola cheese. Dressing on the side for me. It's consistently wonderful. I shared a Five Cheese pizza, for $10.50. Every pizza is wood fired. This one has a mix of parmesan, fontina, mozzarella, smoked gouda, and romano cheeses with tomatoes & herbs. I normally don't care for gouda, but as a combo with the other cheeses, it give it a pleasing, subtle kick. Although it's a five cheese blend, it's not chewy at all. They use the right amount of each cheese so as to not over do the goo. Figilo is a great date place. Very romantic.
(5)Vin R.
Figlio's staff lost our reservation (my wife called on Wednesday for 7pm on Saturday night) forcing us to wait 30 minutes by the door on a cold winter evening for a table. The food was quite good and the service (once we were seated) was fine. They would have gotten another star had it not been for the reservation issue.
(3)Jamie F.
Came here on a date a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. The food, wine and atmosphere eased our first date jitters (that was mostly due to the wine though). I'll be honest, I am not a big pizza fan. I never have been. However, I love everything that has to do with pasta. I got the Spicy Tomato Blackened Chicken pasta. I highly recommend it. We will definitely be back
(4)Laura O.
Figlio is pretty good, and they have a wonderful wine selection. I was super impressed with the food, and the olive oil/cheese/spices combo to accompany our bread bowl kept the table guessing as to what was included. Whatever it was, it was fantastic. It was super busy and pretty crowded, but our server was attentive and kept our wine glasses filled. Which was a great feat for our group.
(4)Molly B.
Yum. The pizza and wine selection are awesome here. I love that it's an intimate setting and connected to vino vino. The outside patio is small, but it makes me feel like I'm back in France as I sip wine and people watch. Bottom line, though: the food and drink are impeccable.
(5)Ann S.
Oh how we wanted to love this place especially given all of the reviews. I think we're just not "wood fired pizza" people. We got the Classic and they left off the pepperoni for some reason. (The only part I actually wanted) We also split a bourbon chicken pizza and we were lucky to get one small chunk of chicken per slice! It was the tastier of the two but no impressive. Honestly, I make better at home on naan bread. Thankfully we bought one of those Dine Originals certificates so we paid less than we normally would've. The staff was nice, the ambience was fine and yes, it is cramped in there depending on where you sit. We got a slice of the red velvet cake and some ice cream torte. Both were the best part of our meals but not enough to lure us back. You never know til ya try it.
(2)Big Baby Jesus C.
Ate a pizza here last night. It was good, but not great. The prices here were pretty reasonable though, so you are getting a fair deal I think. Had a glass of pinot noir and cabernet sauvignon. They were both about the same price, but the cabernet was noticeably better. The pinot, well they need to just breakdown and charge more and open something good rather than something merely tolerable. If I ever run into Paul Giamati, I think I am going to punch him in the face for getting all these people drinking my pinot and fucking things up for me. Oh, forgot to mention it, if you would like to eat something other than pasta, pizza, or a salad, do not come here because that's all they have!
(4)Tracy H.
My favorite place to eat out. It's not the largest place but once you are seated, you barely notice. Nice wine selection. My last meal on earth, if I had to plan it, would be the mushroom ravioli. Chicken, asparagus, sun dried tomatoes in the most heavenly cream sauce. It is so fantastic. I also get the balsalmic salad. I would buy the salad dressing if I could. I have tried several other things and they are good, but always come back to that combination. Overall, a great place with fabulous food!
(5)William R.
Love the food, hate the crowds on busy nights.
(5)Ken L.
This review is actually for the Riverside location (sorry, thought I'd try to consolidate reviews). 3.5 stars. Nice decor. Awesome thin crust pizza. My wife's favorite pizza, and my second favorite in Columbus (1st is Whole Food's on 161 and Sawmill - try it out, at $3.50 you can afford a slice!). Other menu items are good but not great, reasonably priced wine list. Waitstaff is attentive but inexperienced.
(4)David P.
One of my favorite restaurants in Columbus by far. Good service. Good prices. Romantic but not overly expensive. Wood-fired pizza is SO good. Kungpao shrimp pizza is to DIE for.
(4)Dana S.
This was a monthly staple for me when I lived in Cbus. The decor and atmosphere transported me to what you would find at a typical west coast Italian restaurant - which I love! Because the food here is so good, expect to wait for a table. The place is always crowded and the tables are crammed into the dining room. It would not be uncommon to strike up a conversation with the table beside you as the tables are barely far enough apart for you to squeeze through without your ass knocking over plates on the table next door. The diablo penne is simply divine and the bread and oil w/seasonings is something I have unsuccessfully tried to recreate on many occasions. Outdoor seating is available, however, you'll have to endure the salivating gawkers as they jealously watch you eat while waiting for their own table. Moderately priced, expect to pay anywhere from $12-17 for pastas. Their not to miss salads are a la carte so plan to cough up a few extra bucks for one of those. Reservations are a must and you'll still probably find yourself waiting at that...
(4)Bianca H.
I ate at Figlio a few days ago and can't stop thinking about how wonderful it was! It's a small, busy restaurant and the tables are close together, but it wasn't problematic. I actually think it made the dining experience more intimate. Add that to the great wine and amazing food, and you have yourself a 5-star restaurant. A quick note about the food... I had the Tomato, Basil, and Mozzarella pasta... reasonably priced, great portion size, and full of flavor. I usually don't eat leftovers, but I couldn't wait to dig into the remains of this dish the next day. Yum!
