When I lived in German Village Easy Street was my regular after work dinner spot not only because it was one of the few places still open nearby, but primarily because I knew I was going to get a fantastic meal in a relaxing atmosphere. Easy Street offers a spot-on mix of familiar favorites and sufficiently traditional Greek-y dishes: spin dip right next to fried smelts, steak and potatoes rubbing elbows with Souvlaki. I've since moved to the other side of town, and still manage to make it back on a regular basis, especially when my craving for the Chicken Ceasar Pizza becomes unbearable. I've also had many juicy and satisfying burgers as well as a really stunning Moussaka. I dare you not to fall hard for the Cajun Chicken Gyro or the Greek Ravioli. I'm not much for dessert and was initially wary of the thought of messing around with baklava, but if you've got room don't pass up the Baklava Sundae. Remember to check the specials, just about all of them have been outstanding. (Especially if you want to try the Moussaka, Easy Street only offers this dish as an occasional dinner special.) Food prices are reasonable, and drink prices are downright awesome given the quality selection of beer, wine and liquor. I'll concur with previous reviews about the service, it's just alright and at times a bit slow. But the staff still manages to pull it off with a clever 'what's the big deal, aren't you still having a good time?' attitude that will make you want to chill out and enjoy the feeling of neighborhood conviviality that flows from the easy laughter of the bar regulars and the laid back, accommodating staff. In fact, I think I've just talked myself into heading to Easy Street this very night. In case YOU need another reason to give it a go: there's a good chance you'll get to see a server set a plate of cheese on fire, inspiring the whole place to shout "Opa!"

I've been going to this place at least a few times a year for probably over ten years. One reason I decided to go with five stars is because, in all my visits, I've never had a bad experience here. Another reason is that I'm impressed with the consistency. For a hole-in-the-wall type neighborhood place I don't expect a lot of consistency and especially not over the course of ten years. They have changed the smelts and fries but other than that, this place is as consistent as a McDonald's cheeseburger. Lastly, I've never ordered anything that I wouldn't order again and the service is always good. It's also comfortable in my opinion. Nice booths, and a laid back atmosphere. The apps are always good. Aladdin's has the best hummus in town imo but it's pretty good here too. Tzatziki is good, calamari is excellent and served with a nice cajun style sauce which is surprising but really good. The smelts are really good too and served with a nice dipping sauce. I almost always get an app or two and a gyro with fries so I can't comment much on the entrees. I rotate between the standard, pork souvlaki, and cajun chicken gyros. All three are excellent. I disagree with the reviewer who called this "a Thurman consolation prize". I might even argue the opposite. Thruman is overrated in my opinion. The service is always great and the owner will, on occasion, clear your table and ask you how the food was. Really nice guy. Maybe the best place in Columbus to sit down, have a beer, relax, get an app or two, and a gyro with fries.

Unremarkable Thurman Cafe consolation prize. I could see hanging out here if I lived in the neighborhood, but if you came down for Thurman and bailed when you didn't want to wait 90 minutes for a hamburger on a Wednesday night, get back in your car and find something else. My daughter's mashed 'taters had a nearly toxic amount of salt. I don't mean not good for you amount; I mean an inedible amount. Make my little girl frown, loose a star. The hamburgers, chicken sammiches, UFO appetizers and other stuff from my party were ok... not great. The place is less comfortable than it looks too. This place isn't terrible, but I'd never make a special trip either.

This place should be called "The line was too long at Thurmans so we settled on someplace else". I was told the rubin sandwiches are great here. They are OK at best and poor compared to Jason's Deli. The hummus was good but they gave us about 4 little pieces of pita. The omelets i saw looked pretty good. The service was awful. The guy was slow, hostile and it took forever for us to get out of there. I won't be going back.

  • Mary O.

Reading through these reviews I'm really amazed people are saying this is "settling due to lines a Thurman's". Easy Street kicks Thurman's ass!! Thurman's has always been good for a burger and a beer, used to be where all the industry people in the area went after work. Easy Street on the other hand has real food, really good food!! We are creatures of habit and tend to stick with hummus and a Greek gyro. My 100% Greek husband says they have the best Tzatziki sauce (other than his) in town. The service is excellent, we always feel welcome! Great beer selection! The ONLY draw back is the parking, one suggestion -- go a block over to Deshler and park along the park. Go here, not Thurmans... unless you're hammered and just need a burger!

  • Chadran D.

Adequate food and semi abysmal service- like waitstaff just doesn't care half the time. There are too many other selections in the Village with easier parking so this is an option of last choice.

    (3)
  • N S.

There is a reason that the lines are at the GVCS and Thurmans and not here. Not bad but nothing special. Greek food is Americanized beyond recognition. Breakfast is ok. not bad, nothing to rave about. If you don't mind the wait, go to the other two.

"I want to take a bath in this tzatziki sauce." - a quote from my brother. I couldn't agree with him more. Hummus appetizer is my favorite in town, comes with tzatziki. The gyros are large and delicious. The smelts are great. I usually get the cajun chicken gyro, originally on recommendation of my dad. The cajun sauce is so very delicious. I love it so much I have a hard time trying anything else. I love this place. If you're in the mood for greek, or if you're not in the mood to wait an hour to get a table at The Thurman, consider giving this spot a try.

chicken gyro + feta. Im always confused when gyros dont already come with feta, but other than that its delicious. The owner is very friendly and walks around and makes sure your satified with your $8 gyro, and to me thats a great way to show your appreciation. They have awesome drinks, and great tapas.

I walked in around 10 pm on a Thursday night. Nice dimly lit bar and restaurant. Mostly greek food being served here, seemed like some good menu choices but maybe a little too expensive for hummus (7.50)..wtf...but no worries I ordered a gyro and a greek salad. The gyro was a bit soggy with tzatiski (sp.) sauce and the random meat that they use in it. It was served with chips...hmm...i'm no greek expert but chips?..really? The greek salad was pretty big and just smelled like pure onion I think the owner was at the end of the bar taking shots of jameson..so whatever

After two visits, I can say I like this place. Their theme is Greek fair, but offer the standard good eats, like a nice burger or chicken salad. I dint like the fries tho...greasy and limp, but the gyro and cucumber sauce was dead on. Service gets the lowest marks...when we got there, there was one booth, and 4 table available, and all were dirty. we had to stand by our table and wait until a server noticed us...only then did she come over. Second visit, we were all but ignored. Slow to be greeted, running out of beverages, waiting for additional napkins, ect. I also think they get a lot of run off from the always stacked Thurmans, right down the street. They art known for their great burgers, but there is almost always a wait...sometimes long. I would probably go back, but its certainly not on my "must return" list.

It can be a little pricey when you add drinks but Easy Street and a very fun place. The inside is decorated with frames of famous people over the past 75 years. Monday night is half price pizza night so that is when I usually go, it is crowed on the weekends and there isn't a lot of seating. Get the 'Flaming Cheese' it is a must. The good thing about Easy Street and that you can change or add just about anything to your order. If you have never been you should deff try it out, go during the week when it is not so crowded. Get the Greek food otherwise there isn't much of a point to go to a Greek eatery and order American food.

"Summer Time and The Living is Easy" On a trip to German Village with my friend, we were planning on going to Thurmans in my pursuit of what was supposedly the best burger in Columbus. However, we found Thurmans to be incredibly busy. Instead, my friend recommended that we go to Easy Street. Easy Street is located right in the heart of Thurman Avenue, a central strip of shops and restaurants right in the heart of German Village. It is located right on the street corner making it a perfect people watching spot. The atmosphere is lively tavern style with oversize booths, TVs playing sports and the news. There is the occasional decoration of a telephone booth. The service overall was prompt and professional but not overly friendly. The menu was surprisingly extensive. Not only were there the classic hamburgers and tavern food but also a wide array of Greek options (I would love to try those on a future trip). I decided to order the John Wayne Burger which is basically the traditional hamburger. Its base price was 7.50 but I had to pay extra money for toppings like bacon, mushrooms or even adding on french fries (the first two I can understand...but come on, FRENCH FRIES should come with the burger). With a drink in all, my dinner topped out over 12 dollars. At least, I got plenty of food for the money though. The burger patty was a high quality half-pound burger patty. It was topped with lettuce, tomato, onions, chedder cheese, mushrooms and bacon. For the most part, the toppings blended well but I found the cheese to be kind of liquidy (almost like a nacho cheese sauce-kind of weird). The french fries were crispy and well-seasoned. My friend ordered a 12 oz steak that was only 13 dollars or so. He said it wasn't steakhouse quality but it fit the bill. Overall, though, I think that the Easy Street cafe is a fine quality community street corner hangout. It satisfies hungry appetites well. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this place. Best Philly steak sandwich in the city. No joke. Try it with a side of gorgonzola potatoes.

I used to visit Easy Street at least once a week with a group of work friends, but then got a new job and stopped coming. And completely forgot that this place existed until I stumbled upon it here on Yelp. Is that a vote of confidence for a restaurant? Probably not. Easy Street is a very weird place, in my humble opinion. The Greek dishes, mixed with traditional American fare, combined with the funky memorabilia on the walls, create the impression of a Max and Erma's as imagined by Balki Bartakamous (bonus points for guessing the TV show). The atmosphere is not welcoming in the least, as the space is fairly cramped and very angular - it's kinda like your grandma's tea room that she never uses unless she has her friends over for a few hands of euchre. The aforementioned memorablia looms over the proceedings like the proverbial turd in the punchbowl - everyone can see it, but no one wants to acknowledge it. It's just weird, out-of-place crap that can be found at a Hilliard garage sale on any Saturday in the summer. Service can be ridiculously slow. Most of the times I came here with the lunch crew, we would exhaust our lunch "hour" and come strolling into the office after a good 80 to 90 minutes. And this is just at lunch? I can only imagine what goes on here during the dinner rush. And we weren't ordering flaming cheese, creme brulee, filet mignon, or anything that may take a while to prepare. Once the food actually arrives, it's nothing spectacular. The gyros are decent, but I've had better from a cart parked outside Byrne's Pub at 2:30 a.m. Fries are pretty good, especially the "seasoned" variety. Other menu items include burgers, various sandwiches (grilled cheese, BLT, reuben, etc.), chicken, pizzas, and pastas. I haven't tried a lot of the "American" fare as I have just gotten it in my head that this is a "Greek place" and eating a burger in here may make my head explode, a la "Scanners." The bar service is one of the few things that make this place palatable, as they pour a decent Guinness. All in all, an odd experience. Not up to snuff compared to other German Village eateries.

Freeking awesome food. I love this place. Seriously folks, if your all about a great gyro, with real tzatziki sauce, this is where you get it. They are packed with fantastic gyro meat cooked on a spit, and overflowing with goodness. They do Greek salads right too, with an oil based dressing instead of that ultra heavy "greek" dressing that so many people use. Service is good, not over the top, and not lacking, at least once you get seated as they don't seem to have a hostess. Beer selection is small, but they have a good selection with some local brews. Can't wait to come back!

We have lived in the village 6 months and last night visited Easy Street for the first time. It is not one of the restaurants that locals recommend, so we hadn't visited until now. We were pleasantly surprised. We ordered wine and the waitress suggested a bottle because on Wednesday bottles are at their cost, and we could cork and take remaining wine with us. We all ordered salads, three of us had the Mediterranean salad and it was delish! We also had the lemon chicken soup, which had good flavor but was room temperature which was disappointing. The atmosphere, noise level and vibe of the place was good. We will definitely return.

I really don't eat here until German Village Coffee Shop is overly packed. Nice to be able to default to here instead of jumping in the car and having to find another place. So yeah, it's my second choice for breakfast and I haven't eaten any other meals here. Not a bad selection, but the food isn't amazing. Just my backup breakfast spot if I really need it.

I'm a huge fan of brunch so my friend took me over to Easy Street to try it out. He ordered an omelet and I got a pancake and some fried sausage. To be honest, the sausage was better than I had expected but the pancake was mediocre at best. My friend wasn't thrilled with his selection either. We'll stick with First Watch until we can find something better.

You'll find me here every Monday night before playing softball at Berliner Park. Close to the field, great location, great staff and great good! I'm a sucker for pizza and I must say, it's the bomb! Even ventured out and tried the Greek Pizza -- despite my dislike of feta (I know, I know...), it was full of flavor. Did I mention that every Monday, their pizza's are half-off -- not too shabby! Also love their Grilled Cheese -- yuuum. Can't go wrong with the Texas Toast. Staff is friendly, prompt and personable.

I don't live in German Village or else I would probably go more often. I usually go for lunch here when meeting up with others because there's something on the menu for everyone. I love their hummus with the warm pita slices and the artichoke or spinach dip they have I forget which is which. I like the tuna melt and the chicken parm sandwich. The server Ashley is very nice and somehow when I go there isn't a wait like Thurman's. I think you get a lot of food for the price or really what people in this country are accustomed to in reference to serving size.

  • Nate R.

One of the few places in German Village where you can get the Chimey line of beers. I dig Easy Street. It's a bit small and on weekends there is usually a wait. The owner, George, is the type of guy who comes up, introduces himself and strikes a polite conversation with customers. It's got a good on tap selection of craft beers and a full top shelf bar sporting a nice bourbon selection. Parking sucks, so walk if you can... They also do have an interesting brunch selection of greek omelets. My folks are from out of town and get a kick out of eating greek breakfast at the bar. :)

THIS PLACE has really bad SERVICE . there was about 10 people in the restaurant and it took 30 Min's for a drink, and 1 hour for are food ,will not go back, if you like Slow bad service, then this is the place to go. food half way ok i give it a 3 in service and a 6 in food taste.

Nothing about the place suggests its a greek restaurant until you see a menu. We were hoping to try the Thurman Cafe a few doors down since I had seen it featured on Man v Food, however, I was not about to do the 90 minute wait. East Street was a fine, possibly better, substitute as the food was good, the atmosphere inviting and the prices reasonable. The service could have been better, but they were transitioning from the brunch rush to regular fare so having been a waiter I understand the problems for the wait staff. Food was enjoyed by all in our party although the onion rings were overdone, but I don't mind some things burnt and O-rings can qualify. If I'm back, I think I'd really like to try this place for brunch.

Good stuff. We were following reviews of places to go while in town for a marathon the girls were running. Actually heading towards Thurmans however they had a hour plus wait which didn't work for us as we were starving. So we rolled down the street and found this gem. It was a bit of a wait as well but well worth it. They have a nice beer selection and the spicy bloody mary hit the spot this morning. I had a Greek Gyro and it was great. Great service, good food and beers, cant beat it.

I have been here for brunch about 20 times. The staff is pretty friendly and the atmosphere is nice. The food is so-so, I wouldn't bring somebody I was trying to impress. I've had on multiple occasions where the food comes out wrong or overcooked. The service on the weekends is so-so as well. I've had my food come out before my coffee. When a mistake is made it is usually fixed (not always). The place has potential if it was consistent, sometimes I have to go somewhere else just so I know what I'm going to get.

I awoke craving french toast a few sundays ago, so I strolled on over to thurman avenue. I decided on Easy Street since it is a member of the trio of diners I had yet to frequent on this block. It was about 11:00 AM and I met a friend who was ready for a burger. I ordered my french toast and since I'm a girl that likes a little bubbley with my brunch I inquired about Sunday morning drink specials. Although this did not exist the bartender obliged and made me quite a stiff mimosa and even brought the quarter size champagne bottle to the table in an almost celebratory manner. My french toast was light, fluffy, and not to 'eggy', perfect for soaking up a sunday morning cocktail.

Saganaki! Great place to grab a huge gyro and some flaming cheese. It's a small, intimate restaurant and has pretty decent food prices, though the beer prices are a bit steep. Go for the yummy food if you can pass up Thurman's down the street to get here.

I've been to the Easy Street at least 50 times over the years. The best greek food in town, as far as I am concerned. The avgolemono soup is the best I have ever tasted.

Easy Street has furnished some memorable eating talking and drinking experiences to me in the last few years. My first time there was in the Spring of 2005, and i was so rapt by the girl i was with that i don't recall what i ate, but i remember it was delicious. I think it might've been a pizza with spinach and other things on it. I remember it as fresh and colorful in flavor. I had maybe three more meals at Easy Street in the next two years, and they were all satisfying. A few weeks ago friends came in from out of town and we ended up at Easy Street. Two of us split the gyro meat pizza and it was pretty fulfilling--how much can I complain when I do, mercifully, get to eat?--but the flavor seemed pallid, store-bought or lacking somehow. I would eat it again, but i would not anticipate it with the enthusiasm i felt before i tried it. Then i went there just the other day and the service was good--the friendly young woman was ready with coffee and water and delivered our food promptly--but the greek omelette was mediocre for the price and the fried potatoes as side were a gnarled, oily spectacle. I'm not above eatin' some ugly potatoes, but these things fell into the 'rode hard and put away wet' category. Cooked and recooked i believe. They were palatable, though, and i ate not all but a fair amount of them, but they still left me with the feeling that Easy Street doesn't now consistently deliver the kind of good, fresh tasty meals i remember them for. However, one lackluster brunch will not keep me from this place which truly does have a comfortable ambiance, nice booths, a varied bar, and some winning dishes on the menu.

Second night Faveroo -- second night of happiness! We ordered 9.4% Great Lake IPA, great server, excellent saginaki and not amazing but very good Greek food (gyro and stuffed pepper). Super laid back, close by and CHEAP! And about a billion dogs walked by for our entertainment!

This place was good, I ordered a gyro that was rather large. Drinks seems very expensive for what i got. The place is small so think twice before having a gathering there. Ill have to give this place a try again and not order drinks. 8 bucks for a Vodka tonic....???

Easy Street Cafe is a nice cafe that both enjoys and suffers from it's location. Don't get me wrong, a corner lot on a busy German Village street is a great place to put a relaxed restaurant with a large selection of drinks. (Or is it a bar with a large food menu? The huge oak bar and twelve different taps could argue either way.) But unfortunately, they're also only two stores down from Thurman's, the all-time classic of German Village pub-cafe's. The only reason I went to Easy Street last Tuesday was due to Thurman's hour long wait. And it's not that Easy Street is in anyway bad or lacking as either a bar or restaurant. The large specialty burgers are tasty and well conceptualized, and the fresh cut french fries are excellent sides. Their beer selection, built on under-the-radar favorites like Smithwicks and new (to me) excellent choices like Sun Dog Amber Wheat, is diverse and thankfully free of the every-bar crap. Ironically, switching locales probably didn't save me much time. Despite the restaurant being only 2/3rds full, it took nearly 45 minutes from ordering to get our food. And the white pizza my companion ordered was surprisingly greasy, on the level of Pizza Hut. Overall, it's not a bad consolation prize, but really not worth going out of your way for.

It's tough when there are two restaurants right next to each other that both have their attraction. Thurman Cafe (Macedonian Burger for the Macedonians!) and Easy Street are both in German Village. If you're in Columbus visiting your little Buckeye or attending some state convention in the soul-less Hyatt downtown, make the 10 minute drive to German Village and see one of the very few authentic neighborhoods in our capital city. I've eaten here often and have always left satisfied with the food and service. My last encounter I had their daily lunch special - popsicle lamb chops served with a side of village salad (no lettuce) and a small cup of tzatziki sauce with 4 warm pita squares. Food Party! Delicious! Do yourself a favor and go there and order something other than a friggin' gyro! Not to say the gyros aren't good but come on, get crazy. If you order a gyro, you probably order General Tso Chicken at the Chinese restaurant, don't you?

Lots of sandwiches, gyros, burgers, and pizzas. Less Greek food than I was expecting - but i did have the special, the veggie moussaka, and it was very good. Layers of eggplant, spinach, and potato with great cream sauce and cheese, plus a half Greek salad that was enormous. Good but not great. Boyfriend said the same thing about his philly cheese steak sandwich. But we will probably return because the drinks menu looks great and the atmosphere is really nice.

Easy Street Cafe - another American comfort-food destination. We came with our nephew for lunch and got to sit at the window on Thurman. Our server, Lailiana (I'm surely futzing up the spelling there) took such great care of us. We enjoyed our local draft beers, falafel, giant burger and mini-cheeseburger with curly fries. Easy Street has been full-up every time I've been here, so expect to wait a few minutes for a seat, maybe grab a beer at the bar while you do.

If you're looking for a filling, better-than-diner brunch, this will certainly meet your needs. The place is small and kinda noisy. We had to wait for about 10 minutes while there was an open table just waiting to be sat at. The omelettes were giant and had lotsa filling! I ordered the pig sticks because DUH. Sausage wrapped in pancakes. duh. They were actually really good but make sure you order something on the side, like toast or fruit to make up for the sugar/carbo overload. I took off a few stars because my toast was actually moldy. Like green fuzz on the side. They replaced it immediately and refunded my entire meal, but still. Great little spot with lots of options for a pretty decent price. Also, feta does make life betta.

This is currently my favorite brunch spot in Columbus. The vibe at Saturday brunch is very hangover chic. It's alive with bustle of big plans and young fun. I highly recommend the Bloody Mary. There can be a wait to get a table but the food is out in a snap and service is great. The food is the perfect balance between greasy spoon diner and farm fresh fare. I love the home fries, hearty slices of baked potatoes. I come again and again to make my spare weekend afternoons a special treat.

I think Easy Street Cafe is under rated. They have delicious gyros and a breakfast/brunch that is often overlooked looked but awesome. Any given Saturday or Sunday you will find lines waiting on the side walk for German Village Coffee shop and and Thurmans but instead of waiting an hour for the coffee shop just pop into easy street for a meal just as yummy!

Went in last month after not going in years and it was disappointing. A lot has changed. My sister found a hair in her food and everyone's food was cold when it came out. Their gyros are not what they used to be. Not sure what happened with this place but it used to be one of my favorites.

Big fan of Easy Street, and not just as Thurmans overflow parking. Great prices for generous portions of straight up good food and drink selection. Greek influence to the menu, expected combinations plus some bonuses that make this place stand out to me. The Greek spinach and artichoke dip is THE REASON I always come back - made with feta and kalamatas to fancy it up, plus amazing fried pita chips SO GOOOD. All gyros are great to be expected, Lox bagel for brunch, and Greek pizza is to die for. Great place for local carryout if you're down in GV, quick and easy to take to go. Rarely have to wait for a seat, though it's a small place. Consistent service bc it's usually not an overwhelming crowd. I think a lot of Easy Street go-ers are just too impatient to wait to get into Thurmans next door - I know that's how I stumbled upon it! But that works to their advantage. I think it's a better menu, better food, more comfortable restaurant, and overall a guaranteed win any time of day or night. Perk: opens at 9am! Most boozy brunch places tend to open a little later around 11... where I come from, mimosas and bloodies taste better with the rising sun :)

We moved from San Diego a few months ago and we love eating at Easy Street. There's nothing that we have tried that hasn't become a favorite. However, we stop in frequently for the Gyro, hummus & pita bread, burgers and the truffle chips. Everyone that comes from out of town- we bring to easy street. Love it!!!

One goes here for the ambiance. Not the food. I feel like I've had better food out of a food truck. Bleh. I've given this place a couple of chances and I am always won over by the atmosphere. And to call this Greek food is laughable. School cafeterias can make better Greek food.

Second time here and the last time I will visit. Really hard to mess up breakfast but it is the one thing they have achieved at. The service has been horrible twice. The wait staff short handed and not friendly. They obviously get the spillover crowd from Thurman and the German Villiage cafe. Don't go here folks.

Love to stop by in the afternoon. Also, was here last week. Had to get the grilled cheese again. Very cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Like the music too.

Stumbled onto this place quite by accident. We were scheduled to go to Thurman Cafe. Got there and it was packed. No problem, we'll try this cafe place on the corner. It was wonderful. I highly recommend it and I'll certainly be returning in the future. The Greek fries were new for me and I'm glad I ventured off the traditional chips or standard fries at the server's suggestion. My burger was great, too. Perhaps a smidgen overcooked but too much is better than too little when it comes to cooking burgers! Good food, good atmosphere, good times. I can't ask more for a place like this.

This place was Plan C today, but it's going to be plan A (or B) from now on. We wanted breakfast at Skillet, but they were slammed. We decided to try the GV coffee shop, and the line was out the door. We decided to walk into Easy Street for the hell of it....and got seated right away. Our server was fun, gave good suggestions, and hooked us up with desperately needed coffee in record time. It's really primarily a bar, but the breakfast options here are surprisingly awesome. We decided to try the "pig sticks", which are basically breakfast sausage corn dogs with cinnamon-sugar coated batter and a big dish of maple syrup to dip them in. They were out of corned beef hash, which was disappointing, but my backup plan was "The Hangover", which gave me a big bowl of home fries, scrambled eggs, and the house chili. I asked for some sour cream to finish it off, and mushed it up into a delicious mess that will probably contribute to my first heart attack sooner or later. A friend who was out with us for breakfast got the Pig omelet, which looked fantastic, filled to the brim with sausage, bacon, and veggies, and her husband tried the El Guapo breakfast tacos, which I think I'm going to be back for myself. This was a really nice surprise that I'd never have gone into if GVCS hadn't been so busy. I'm betting a lot of people pass them by in favor of their more famous neighbors, but I'll be happy to take advantage of their mistake.

One of my go-to places in German village. Love the Greek inspired entrees, the bar atmosphere, and the friendly service. Anything with their fried pita or gyro meat is a guarantee for a good meal. Their spinach artichoke dip and their French onion soup is some of the best in town!!!

I haven't been totally blow away by anything I've tried at Easy Street, but I also can't say I've been disappointed. Service has always been warm and attentive. They've got a decent little selection of draft beers, and also plenty of choices for liquor. They gyros (I get chicken, the bf gets the regular gyro meat) are good, and the tzaziki they make is perfect! I branched out on my last visit and got the Cheech and Chong burger, because I wanted to try the chili, but couldn't decide...and it was delicious! And the curly fries, of course, are yummmm. I'm hoping the next time I head to Easy Street will be for brunch, since I keep hearing about it.

I've not been that impressed with the service or food in the past, but they seem to have redone their menu and changed some things. Recently sat at the bar for dinner as they were on a wait, and the bartender was friendly and knowledgable. Great beer selection on tap and the new menu and plate presentations add some great flair!

The brunch is terrific and the greek gyro is great! Plenty of food and decent prices. Also, I really liked the cozy atmosphere of the place. It has a "local" bar feel to it, even though it's family friendly. The service is not the best, but it was not terrible either. Also, the entree items and the specials are not available before 5pm, so if you are coming in earlier, keep in mind that you are limited in options.

I have lived in German Village for six months now, and finally ventured over to Easy Street this morning. At 8:06 PM, the time at which I am writing this post, I am still full from brunch... from six hours ago. That's a sign of a meal well spent. I had no trouble selecting a most delicious dish, the El Guapo. Easy Street's brunch is the perfect remedy for the morning/afternoon after a long night of Long Islands at Union. Would I like a mimosa with a hearty bowl of oatmeal? HELL NAW. I want water, and that savory El Guapo: two soft tacos brimming with eggs and chorizo and cheese and vegetables. My belly felt like Queen of the World afterward. I also loved the laid-back vibe of Easy Street. This may sound creepy, but they have hipster mannequins perched in all areas of this place... I think it adds character. The staff is friendly and down to earth. All in all, there is nothing corporate or humdrum about this place. Come with friends, a fun date, your gay brother. I have not been to the bar portion of this place, but I bet they make a mean Gin and Tonic.

I used to regularly dine/drink at ESC when I lived in German Village (2006-2009) and loved it. Unfortunately, over the past few years, both the food & the service are slowly becoming worse & worse. The server was nice(ish), but extremely slow. In her defense, she was the only server & the bar was fairly crowded. We were craving the dip trio... The dips (hummus, tzatziki & garlic spread) hit the spot, but the pita was okay, but the pita was drenched in butter & soggy. I had French onion soup (which was pretty good) and salad (which you can't really mess up). The people in the bar (40s+) were clearly having an extreme Sunday-funday... They were yelling/screaming/laughing at the top of their lungs, which made us leave before finishing our meal. Usually I wouldn't mind people "having fun," but I felt like they were "Mike's Bar" drunk & it was too much!

Great food and service for a Sunday Brunch! We spIurged and I ordered the Jake and Elwood burger. Before you order this make sure you have the appetite and the room. Hand cut fries are great. The Gyro was authenic as well. Omlettes, Rueben sandwiches all done super.

I will admit that the first time we came here it was Thurman's overflow, which itself was actually Schmidt's overflow. But since then we have returned every time to purposefully come here. I should mention that we have only ever come here during lunch/brunch on weekends and our service has always been just fine. We've never had a huge wait. I think we're usually quoted 20 minutes or so but generally get a table faster than that. Their breakfast menu always looks great, but the only thing I ever end up ordering is the gyro with Greek fries. I'm sure breakfast is good and friends have gotten other things and enjoyed them, but I only want the gyro. And that's because the gyro is just that good. It is gigantic and full of wonderful gyro meat. I've had other gyros in town and usually find them to be mostly lettuce and tomato with some meat. This is excessively meaty and the tzatziki is very good. I tend to drown fries in vinegar, but the Greek fries are very flavorful on their own and don't need anything.

This was the first place (after the airport and my friends' house) that I went on my return to Columbus (mostly because my friends live just down the street and we walked there). I hadn't been, but they are there often, and advised me on the menu. We started with the saganaki, which is brought out in a slightly alarming flaming show, and served with pita. It was described by one of my friends as "like the crispy skin of a bird, but with cheese" and was subsequently devoured posthaste. One of them ordered a salad with smelt, and the other had a pizza with an almond topping, which was interesting texturally, but which didn't really appeal to my tastes. I was getting over a bout with laryngitis, so I had a bowl of the avgolemono soup, which was full of lemony chickeny noodley goodness that was great for being sick, though I'm not sure I would order it under normal circumstances. It was pretty crowded when we were there (late dinner on a Saturday), and despite the double doors in the entry, we got a few gusts of cold air sitting at the table by the front door. The ambiance is pretty busy and loud, so it's not necessarily a good place for conversation (especially if you have laryngitis). I wouldn't mind visiting again when in proper health.

Oh, Easy Street. I wish I had know about you sooner. When Thurman's and German Village Coffee Shop are busy, it seems like this is always the third choice. Easy Street is a great place for brunch. They offer a ton of different food, much of which is Greek-inspired. Their breakfast offerings are solid (try the BELT!) and their tzatziki is the best around. I order a side of that no matter what I'm eating - even the Cajun Chicken Sandwich. Oh, and their fresh-cut fries are awesome (especially in the tzatziki). Overall, this is bar food done well. The booths are giant and cozy and easily fit 6. Service is good. The decor is fun with lots of fun memorabilia around, which makes the wait for my breakfast a little easier. Prices are pretty standard, leaning toward the cheaper side. Bloody Marys are solid. I have no idea why this place isn't always experiencing a long wait. Maybe they got lucky that they're right next to two hyped spots. Regardless, I'm a happy customer.

I've only had gyros ever since trying one here. They're SO GOOD!! And with the sweet potato fries, here I am thinking of ordering another plate. The gyros are great, and I've also found this is my favorite place to go for watching buckeye games. It's not packed, the game is on most if not all tv's with the volume cranked up, and everyone is just enjoying their food, beer, and the game. Favorite restaurant!

This place was found on accident! Me and my husband lived in German Village and planned to walk over to Thurman Cafe. Of course, it was packed and there was a huge wait so we decided to try the place next door. At first we thought it was more of a pub, but once we looked at the menu we were pleasantly surprised by the Greek menu. We decided to try the Saganaki (flaming cheese) and both get gyros. The cheese was DELISH and visually really cool too (they pour 151 over it and then set it on fire!) As for the gyros..I've had many from many places, even other authentic places, and NONE can touch how amazing Easy Street's are! The lamb tastes so flavorful and all the veggies were fresh and crisp! From that point on, it was a weekly ritual. Monday's are half-price pizza nights so you can get a delicious Greek pizza for $6! We loved Easy Street so much that the owner George let me have my husbands 26 birthday there, and provided a huge pan of Baklava! ( He clearly knew we were big Easy Street fans!) The sad part is that we moved to New Albany and it's not as easy to get to anymore, but anytime we are in downtown Columbus we pop down to G Vill and go to Easy Street! We had dinner there last week and it was just as good as it's always been! DEFINITELY GO!!!!!!!!!

Greek food good, service not so good. That's pretty much how I would sum up Easy Street. I've had the standard Greek fare easy street offers, gyros and saganakis are my go to greek grub and they truly do a great job with those. Side note, I must admit I was bummed to learn that saganakis are only served up for dinner and not lunch. So thumbs up on the food. Service kinds of dampens the enthusiasm that I have for their greek food. There have been a couple instances of the staff showing indifference to providing at least average service to hints of disgust and confusion to requests. One time my friend wasn't keen on their ice tea, so she asked to have another drink. The server (who I think is the owner), took the tea, looked at it, then looked at my friend, and displayed a look of confusion and irritation as he walked away. The atmosphere and food are great, but it just creates a bad vibe when the service makes you feel like your wasting their time.

The chili fries were a soggy, greasy mess (they had sat waiting to be picked up for quite awhile obviously) and the chicken wings were of the most amateur, weird tasting variety I have ever encountered. There was still powdery wing sauce mix stuck to parts of the wing...no es bueno. Better yet, after being sorely disappointed by the grub I was treated to a lovely bout of stomach cramps and the sh!ts for about 4 hours... brilliant! Do not eat here, maybe grab a few drinks whatever, but stay away from ALL food, these were only appetizers mind you...

Most of the time, I am a fan. However the last few times I have been it has just been ok. If you don't sit at the booth, you DON'T get very good service. As an example of the last time we went. There were 3 of us, and we sat at the table by the window. We ordered 3 waters, and 1 coffee. The server came back with 2 waters and 2 coffees. Easy Mistake, no biggie. We then waited 15 mins for her to come back with the 3rd water and take our order. When the order came, 1/2 of it was missing and one member in our parties order was wrong. He ordered the greek omelet and instead got the veggie omelet. Again, after 20 mins she emerged to check on us and when we told her the order was wrong, she blamed the kitchen and went to go re-order it. When we told her we didn't have 1/2 the order, she again blamed the kitchen and Im sure she just forgot. The rest of our dining experience went pretty much like that. The food was also just OK. I don't know that I will go back for brunch anytime soon. Good luck to those that do!

This place is on a terrible downswing. My first trip here I was shocked that I had overlooked it for so long. The next couple trips left me wondering what in the world I was thinking. Trip 2 included ordering a breakfast with some pseudo-creative name that was supposed to consist of some fresh fruit and a breakfast pastry. About 40 minutes later I got a cup of fruit cocktail from a can and two frozen pieces of coffee cake. Multiple people apologized, but it didn't make me feel much better to hear, "no one had ever order that before." Trip 4, I ordered the corn beef hash. I'm not sure if it was out of a can or just pureed way too much, but what I got was two eggs over a pile of greyish meat paste. Completely inedible and one of the worst thing I've ever seen served in a restaurant. That said, I'm still sorta willing to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Multiple other people have told me it has gotten way worse recently, but let's be honest - 95% of their business is overflow from when Thurman's or the coffee shop is too busy. Keep the order simple and have low expectations and you might be ok.

Holy cow was this place amazing!! We honestly weren't sure what to expect, but it was all so delicious! We had the Saganaki (flambéed Greek goat cheese) and Calamari for appetizers, both were wonderful. For entrees I had the lamb Greek gyro, I absolutely loved it! The tzaziki was finger-licking good! My boyfriend had the Philly cheesesteak and loved it. My aunt had the Greek quesadillas and loved them as well. We will be back for sure!

Easy Street Cafe was the first restaurant I tried when I arrived in Columbus 5 years agp at the suggestion of my friend. The servers and staff were wonderful then which really added a lot to the experience. A lot of the new staff is friendly but I've yet to get the vibe that was there when Jen was behind the bar or Kelly was serving tables. Everyone talks about visiting Easy Street because the line is long at Thurman's which I find amusing as I really enjoy the atmosphere much more at Easy Street. The food itself is a unique blend of quasi-Greek with an American twist. More authentic than Happy Greek and most of the other places I've had in Columbus but with enough twist to make it unique and fun for the masses. Spinach Dip is an absolute joy and has ruined anyone else's dip for me. The Saganaki is tasty and is a lot of fun when they light it on fire! The Greek Veggie (Meat) Pizza is like a Gyro on olive brush pizza crust and is amazing. The Chicken Ceasar Pizza and an interesting idea that combines a salad with a pizza and it works. In closing, I want to take a moment and talk about something near and dear to me. PANCAKES. I'm just going to say this and you can disagree with me but Easy Street has the BEST Sunday Brunch Pancakes in the Village. I love Der German Village Coffee Haus but Easy Street has them beat. The main reason being size of the pancakes, variety of pancakes and consistency from each visit. That's all I've got "drops the mic".

I don't think this place gets nearly enough credit. It is often used as overflow from Thurman's, which I don't entirely understand. The building is great, the food consistently very good, the service can be spotty, but generally well done. The hummus is spectacular as are the gyros. I am also a big fan of their breakfast/brunch options. Parking is not bad, but seating is limited and it can be busy at times.

Sooo, it's Greek food? I guess if you put feta on everything and call it Greek, and Columbus natives don't know any better, then yeah. This place could do so much better. The service was horrible. We had one girl seat us by pointing across the room at the open booth. Then another girl took our drink order, but another person brought them to us 20 minutes later. After another 15 mintues, we still hadn't ordered. Another guy came over and said that our waitress got stuck behind the bar, and he'd take our order. Lousy service, and sub par food. This is the kind of place that I think you go to when Thurman's wait is too long.

I stopped in for lunch here awhile back and had a pretty decent time. Service overall was a bit slow for what you'd expect at lunch time but my sammich was pretty darn tasty. I got the rueben which was recommended by a few people and it was stacked with yummy flavors. I wasn't a huge fan of the chips nor was I a fan of paying for french fries. I had a nice slice of baklava for dessert which was, as I would hope at a Greek restaurant, delicious. It was the completely authentic and a great way to top off a slightly decadent lunch. The atmosphere was nice and casual. I liked the fun and quirky decor.

Finally made it to Easy Street. My go to was always German Village Coffee Shop. I decided to give this place a chance and am glad I did. Not crowded....for breakfast. But a steady amount of people. More of the line from GVCS and Thurmans should give this place a try. Atmosphere very nice, clean, dark and comforting. I sat at the bar since it was just me. I probably won't do that again as the stools seem a little low to be able to comfortably eat, since the lip of the bar makes it difficult to get the plates close enough. I ordered Scooters Favorite. Biscuits and Gravy, eggs any style, homefries and choice of bacon or sausage. The portion was huge and well worth the 7.99. Everything tasted amazing. The homefries could have been crispier but that's just my preference. They were cooked well...just not as crispy as I like. People were nice, professional and accomidating. I will absolutely be back and try their lunch and dinner!

I have to confess that I don't feel like I've had a "complete" experience with Easy Street. It's not a restaurant where I feel at home. We happened in here one day when the line for Thurman's was too long to bear; it was crowded, but we found a table by the door and wedged ourselves in. Normally, I am quite anxious about places where you seat yourself; I've had enough terrible experiences at Hounddog's Pizza to know that it's quite easy to be overlooked when it's busy. I don't remember getting poor service the first time we popped in, though, so it must have been okay. Even though we semi-frequent Easy Street Cafe, we only ever order one thing: Greek pizza, add gyro meat. (We also once got the spinach dip along with it, which was really freakin' tasty.) I love their Greek pizza; rather than a pizza that is heavy with red sauce, their Greek pizza is olive oil on a lean dough, mozzarella, feta, olives, green peppers, the optional gyro meat, topped with tzatziki and baked. It is truly excellent, so much so that we can never bring ourselves to order something different. The service has always been decent every time that we've gone in. I've never had cause to complain about the food or the service. (Of course, we only ever order the one dish....) Oh, and Brad S.? "Don't be ridiculous." ;-)

Usually I love it here but my last experience ruined me. I went in and it took 20 minutes between drink refills, the waiter brought our food and it was great but he ignored us, and didn't advise up that instead of an up charge I would get a half order of onion rings and be charged the full price of the appetizer and took nothing off the entree. I asked about and he said chips were free, but I didn't get chips. If I was going to be charged for both, why did I not receive both or get informed of this before the order? He then also took an additional 30 minutes to get our check. And no it was not busy.

I had a great time here last night-- cozy, neighborhood-vibe, hold the dive. I was on the fence between a 3 and 4 star rating (and as I always must say-- not that 3 stars is bad!). I went ahead and gave it the "Yay! I'm a fan" status because: (1) the service was extra-friendly and attentive and (2) we could all use a little more monounsaturated fat in our pub eats. The food was pretty good, I just had two appetizers (hummus plate and flaming cheese) and some brews, but the mood was festive and fun, even though the snow continued to fall outside. I see what others have mentioned about the menu being a little strange (Mediterranean-meets-pub fare) and the wacky wall decorations. Still, I'll give extra points for uniqueness. The flaming cheese was pretty good, but the real novelty is in the presentation. Lean back, and watch your tresses. Easy Street Cafe is exactly what it needs to be... ...which is apparently a neighborhood pub with a wacky Greek uncle.

As others have mentioned, this is a little strange. It probably should be called George's Greek Palace or something. The decorations are wild, includiing the Blues Brothers sitting up over the doorway. I stopped here today for dinner. I started off with the hummus and pita appetizer. The hummus wasn't bad but it wasn't the best I've had. For my dinner, I went with one of their specials of the day, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. This was pretty good also. All in all, a pretty good meal.

I work near Easy Street Cafe, so I frequent it for lunch. -The interior is cute and quaint. I've never had to wait for a table at lunchtime, but I'm sure the situation may be different once 5 p.m. hits. - I was pleasantly surprised to see the menu is primarily Greek food. And it's good Greek food, too. Try the Greek salad or the greek quesadilla; you won't be disappointed. -Who knew a good Greek place would have incredible french onion soup, too? It's seriously my favorite. -The staff is so nice here. They make you feel like a regular, even if you aren't.

DEREK: Easy Street will remind you of a place where you will always find something on the menu you will be glad to munch on. Yer-oos, burgers, and plenty of stuff to tempt the comfort food palate. DEREK: So the wonderful and friendly welcoming committee was glad to provide us with the first table of the day. I believe she may have been just out of hibernation cause she had the personality of a waking read headed grizzly bear. DEREK: So Troy warns me not to try the reuben in fear of the "Danny's" corned beef affect that ruins most corned beef experiences. Obviously I was not in the mood to listen to his warnings. Must have been the oppositional defiance I was feeling from the grouchy bear that seated us I guess. WOW - was I glad I got the reuben. Dude!!! It came out hot and melt in your mouth tender. The bread was a good match too and the 1000 island dressing was not overpowering to hide imperfections of the sandwich. It was hot, tasty, and overall excellent. DEREK: Surprise of the visit was the yummy baklava. Very nice textures and plenty of nuts to keep you happy. The bottom was nice and gooey with plenty of flavor. It seemed like it was missing something though T - what did you think? DEREK: Gyro meat seemed tasty and the gyro did not overwhelm me with goodness. T needs to tell everyone about the sauce... The regular fries are bland and even the seasoned fries could use a bit more spice as well. Make sure you give Easy Street a try when you find Thurman's packed beyond a Van Halen concert. Yes I like VH Troy. Must be the 80's coming out in us again. Say HI to the RED HEADED GRIZZLY for us!

A joke: A man walks into a library and loudly asks, "I'd like two hamburgers and an order of fries!!" The librarian hushes him and hisses, "This is a library!" The man apologizes, lowers his voice, and whispers, "I'd like two hamburgers and an order of fries, please!" This gut-busting wisecrack was told by our server, in attempt at icing over the irritation that had been building over his failure to, well, serve our table for the previous hour and a half. My mother and I had around two hours before we had to be somewhere, so we thought we'd grab a bite to eat and then run a few quick errands. Considering we were seated fewer than 10 minutes after arriving, the idea that lunch could take up that entire window of time seemed ridiculous -- but oh, it happened. It seemed that we weren't consuming enough alcohol on our Monday lunch date to warrant any attention from the waitstaff. I had really wanted some tzatziki sauce for my Greek burger (which was delicious, but slightly dry), but I had given up and eaten almost the whole thing by the time anyone came to check on us. They're an interesting hybrid of American favorites with obvious Greek traditions. Big cushioned booths are surrounded by old Hollywood posters and eclectic framings. Noteworthy menu items: Pig sticks (cinnamon sausage), Greek pizza (or burgers or chicken or anything else you might possibly want done up Greek), and Flaming Cheese (served only after 5pm, but WOW!) I'll admit that most of my experiences in Easy Street have been a function of their legendary neighbor Thurman's: Wait's too long, we'll eat at Easy Street. No where to sit at the bar, we'll go to Easy Street. Once or twice, however, I've actually ventured into Easy Street because it was my destination of choice. This last experience was a strong reminder why I'll usually just wait it out down the street.

I should qualify by saying first that my review is colored by the fact that I can't seem to eat here without getting sick because foods that I am allergic to keep making their way into my food (I am allergic to gluten, dairy, and sesame). I ordinarily wouldn't eat at a place like this because choosing from things on the menu is like side-stepping landmines for my stomach. I've been here in the past and had really bad service and a hard time getting food without having to send it back multiple times (ordered a salad without cheese, salad came with cheese, sent the salad back only to receive the same salad with some of the cheese picked off the top and had to send it back again). But I was with a friend today that really loves this place so I acquiesced and decided to go again. Big mistake. Ordering things here that are allergy-friendly is almost impossible (even if you politely announce to the server while ordering that you have a food allergy). I ordered a diet coke and the chicken kebob over rice. While it was very tasty, it wasn't until a bite or two in that I realized that the rice was filled with cheese and that some of that cheese had made it's way onto my chicken as well. At that point it was too late - the sickness had already started to set it. So, as I write this review from a hunched over position on my couch, I largely blame myself for this experience. Shame on me. Overall, the food is tasty, but the service is pretty terrible and the fact that I can't eat there without getting sick like this will probably keep me from going there ever again.

Easy Street Cafe is my favorite place for weekend brunch in Columbus. They have fantastic omelets and breakfast pitas, real fried potatoes, and pretty good diner style coffee. I've only had non-breakfast food there a couple times, but that was also good. I like the food, and George, the owner, is always nice. The service can be iffy, though. Some very good servers, some terrible. It seems the biggest issue is actually getting to pay when you're finished. I've started paying when my food arrives, which seems to work alright. Anyway, I like the food, the owner, and the crazy, fun decor. You'll see signed memorabilia from Eric Clapton, Muhammad Ali, Elvis, and others. It really is worth the stop. BTW, I like Thurmans, but anyone who waits in line for 45 minutes to eat there, rather than walking 50 feet and eating here, is crazy.

Love this place. Hard to park and it's usually packed but it's worth it. All the food I've tried was good. The calamari (crispy and comes with a slightly spice exciting sauce, delicious even to people who don't eat calamari), hamburger (big in size, nice standard burger perfectly put together with a pile of fries), and village greek salad (my favorite, comes with a perfectly warmed pita cut in fourths, beautifully ripe and carefully chosen peppers, tomatoes, olives, drizzled in olive oil with some salt & pepper YUMMY) are all absolutely amazing and can not be improved upon.

Solid choice for a good beer and a gyro. Happy hour specials are great too! Half off draft beers and apps. This is our standard neighborhood stop.
