I'm never going back there. They had bags of salad dressing, the one I got was full of moss. Terijaky chicken was dry, orange chicken was soggy. Overall very gross.

Went here with a large group after a church service. I don't usually care for buffets but this was excellent. The food was fresh and hot and we'll stocked. Since we were a big group, they had this little room off to the side they put our party in. They took good care of us and had no problems splitting the checks. The buffet made it easy for our party not have to wait long to take and get our order. :)

This is a pretty standard Chinese buffet. There's nothing spectacular about it but if you're looking for decent buffet style Chinese food at a decent price, this is your place. The chicken and broccoli dish is usually yummy. The egg rolls are hit or miss. My boyfriend very much enjoys their frog legs but that's not my thing. It's always clean and the staff is nice enough. The service here is good but sometimes there are children working the front counter. It weirds me out just a bit. Maybe that's just a cultural thing that I don't understand. The only complaint I really have about China City is the TV. There's a massive television centrally located in the dining area and it's always obnoxiously loud and tuned into some mindless crap like Dr. Oz.

It's the chinese buffet that is in every town. You know the one. Greasy, "chinese" food that just hits the spot sometimes. The food isn't anything that you'd brag about. You might even scoff at it around your friends but sometimes....man, you really want some of their peanut butter chicken. There are a few things, both good and bad, that make this one stand out from the rest though. The good: The service is solid. I don't think my cup has ever gotten half empty. Some one, either the server that gave me a table, or their child, which is a little weird, is right there to give me the refill and ask if I need anything. For your basic chinese buffet with cheap buffet price, the selection is surprisingly large. The frog legs are much better than I would expect and the salad bar, although it always looks to be five minutes away from wilting, is always full. The bad: Wear cleats. I don't know why they continue to think that covering the floor in what I can only assume to be ky jelly is a good idea but it really isn't. I mean sure, watching me fall would probably be funny but still, not cool. There's a giant television that is always front and center that, if you get there for lunch, is turned to max on Dr. Phil or some other mind numbing program. It's really distracting and if you happen to get placed near it, removes all possibility for conversation.

Buffets ( Chinese ones specifically and this one in particular ) scare me and fascinate me at the same time. The scary part? While I'm average height and size, I find myself being careful to not get in the way of some of the patrons of this establishment. These are value driven, get your food money's worth people and you'd better get out of their way. The fascinating part? The people watching is good here. All types of people. It's particularly fun to watch someone go up to the buffet for the 4th or 5th time and each time get a heaping plateful of food and then get ice cream for dessert. They typically drink several Diet Cokes by the way. Gotta watch those calories. Other than that, the food is is pretty good for a Chinese buffet. The Bean Sprouts, Bok Choy, Pepper Chicken, Steamed Dumplings and Hot and Sour Soup are of particular note. Other than that it's typical Chinese buffet fare. They have coupons on the back of the receipts from the Kroger across the street for a dollar off lunch or dinner. China City Buffet also offers a punch card whereby you get a stamp for each visit. Visit 10 times and get a free lunch. And who said there was no free lunch?

Been desperately trying to find a good Chinese buffet in Columbus, which has been a lot harder than you would think. Finally tried this place because of a suggestion from a buddy. I'm so glad I did. This is now my go to when it comes to Chinese food. Everything I've had from there has been excellent. The generals chicken really stood out. I'm always disappointed if a buffet has lackluster generals chicken. The food is delicious and warm and the selection is good as well. This is the best Chinese buffet I've ever had, honestly. A hidden gem.

A very typical Chinese buffet. Nothing outstanding, but decent, predictable Chinese food (plus some pizza and such for the kids.) There seemed to be a lot of seafood; I tried some and it was decent. Service was good, prices were fair. Carryout prices were reasonable- I got a container to go from the buffet, and an entree that wasn't on the menu but they whipped up to request.

We enjoy this place. The food is pretty good, and is hot. Good variety, also. The service is friendly and appreciative. I'd give this place 5 stars if it weren't for the large TV which is intrusive. Distracts from good conversation.

Good but not great food. Great service. It's a buffet! I can't say much more except I think it's rude when a whole family comes in and swarms over the crab legs when they bring them out! ;-D

When this place first opened, they did very well. Then, as the months/years progressed, they began to go downhill. The food is ok, nothing special. The people who run the place, I must admit, are very nice people and do what they can to give decent service. However, their water tastes like sewage, their soda is flat most of the time, the bathrooms are horrid, cold and stink to high heaven and in the winter time it's freezing cold in that place. The few times I visited there during the winter, I had to keep my coat on during my meal. Such a shame as they're the only Chinese buffet on our end of town. If we want Chinese buffet, we travel up to the Worthington area and hit Hong Kong Buffet. I don't know why China City has taken such a nosedive, but I haven't been back in a while now.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
