Eggplant Parmesan Sandwich, huh? Thanks yelpheads, Kimberly S, Tate D, and Cami T ! Can almost taste it. (Oh, yeah.) It's the first item on my Gallucci shopping list for my next visit. Gave each of you "Usefuls" for the tip. I could go on and on. And on. However, this review is specific. Yes, I agree with most reviews here that there are thousands of wonderful edibles at Gallucci's. Don't have time to list everything I've purchased and enjoyed, so I'm listing just a few of my Must-Have items only. They come with my high recommendations. * MARCONI Chicago-style HOT Giardiniera 32 fl.oz We buy 2-4 at a time. Call beforehand to make sure in stock. It's a regularly- stocked item, but sometimes sells out. It might come in a smaller size, so you can start with that one. Great mixed into chili-style dishes or other, with sandwiches, or even chopped up fine and cooked in savory dishes. * MAMA GALLUCCI'S Pasta Sauce 32 oz. Very nicely-flavored and the thinner style. It's perfect. It's been years since I've made any from scratch---it just takes too long. Before discovering this one, tried all the well known---and upscale brands, too---then added any extras to it that I wanted. Nothing compares. What makes this one best is it's pure simplicity---mild and flavorful. The last thing I want in a convenient jarred sauce are all those sometimes overbearing seasonings and additives. This is wonderful as is, or as a base. You can very easily add something you like---heat, cheese, cream, mushrooms, wine, etc. This isn't Ragu or Bertolli---it's Mama Gallucci---a local grandma who happens to have a fabulous, inoffensive, for-all-tastes, pasta sauce. We buy 4 at a time. Just try a single jar for starters. It's great. Thanks, Mama G. (Her son joked that she makes it right there and bottles it all herself.) **** Important **** Jar looks very similar to her PIZZA SAUCE. Don't make the mistake we did one time, and discover you'd brought the wrong thing home. Another one hour plus round trip for a trade-off. * INTERNATIONAL COLLECTION TAPENADE Kalamata Olive Savory Appetizer Spread 5.8 oz. Nothing out there like it, but don't get TOO excited. It's a product of the United Kingdom, and heard it had recently suspended its production of this heavenly spread. Don't know why. Maybe olive oil cost is increasing, making this item too expensive. Just remember it, then ask for it EVERY time you visit. This is a real Foodie Find. ~ Don't waste your money on any others if this one is available. (Unless Gallucci's has started making their own---then definitely try theirs, too.) Wasn't cheap---maybe $4-5---but worth even more. Trust me when I say that it's hard to share---and I'm the sharing type. Perfect on lightly olive-oil sprinkled, crusty fresh bread slices. Forget about it as an appetizer---I've made this an entire meal. If you buy it, open the jar BEFORE you pull out of the parking lot. TASTE IT. Use your finger, ballpoint pen, mascara tube, anything---even your car key. You'll go back in for more---I know it. .

Cleveland's Largest Italian market with ok pricing. I go more for the hard to find Italian items, like hard to find pasta shapes like Bucatini, Polenta, dried herbs and spices in bulk, Italian cured meats, and cheeses. To bad they can't bottle the smell of the place, It smell so wonderful. It smells the way a Italian market is suppose to smell like. Buona mangia!

Have been dropping in to Galluccis for almost 40 years. Had my first Galluccis taste from my BGSU roommate who ruled the Murray Hill neighborhood of Cleveland. Hard salami and sharp provolone, prosciutto and capicolla, crusty Italian bread and Parmesan reggiano, all in 1976, way before it was Rachel Ray cool! Been living in central Hoosier-ville since 1981 where biscuits & gravy are one of the the five main food groups. You know beer, tenderloin, corn on the cob, whole catfish and biscuits & gravy... anyway every time I get back I make my way to this Italian institution. As everyone says it ain't cheap but I'll swear by its unequaled selection, quality and taste. As for the counter folks, they're just doing their job. So make up your mind and tell em you want... A 1# hunk of provolone, 3/4's # hard salami sliced thin and grab a half doz hard rolls... for the road home. For a short time my name's Jimmy The K!

Quick trip today to check things out, grab a sandwich, and pick up a few spices. First off the prices on beans, spices, oil, vinegar, and pasta were pretty reasonable. I had heard this from local friends who swear by this place for their select food items. Sandwich ordered was Italian Steak with fresh mozzarella. Sandwich was like the wet shaved beef you can get in places like NYC and Chicago (wish I had asked for sport peppers). Pretty great by those standards, and just slightly under the Portillos Italian Beef I had in Chicago last week (again no sport peppers, but lots of mushrooms). I was impressed. They have a lot of cool stuff in here. Not sure what people are talking about because the service was perfect. Lots of parking and easy to get to on the near East side. I plan to return at least every 2 weeks until I have tried all the lunch offerings. Something about a Eggplant Parm....

Once again, rude service 'greets' customers. The guys behind the meat/ cheese counter seldom, if ever, smile and make a customer feel welcome. The spirit of the the original people from Faeto, Italy who created this store is loooong gone. My grandparents would be appalled by the arrogance and nasty attitudes. Meanwhile, I'll be going to Alescis. Better service, and, you'll find things Galluci's doesn't have.

The place is full of great products and has a wide selection of baked sweets. The food section is priced very well and is pretty good. The staff is extremely courteous and nice. Just be warned that it can get very busy around lunch.

As a rare act of charity, I have since given Gallucci's a chance to redeem themselves. This time I went for a safer bet - a large meatball sandwich. Let me start by saying that my first impression still weighs heavily on me. However, I can't deny that you simply can't go wrong getting a meatball sandwich here! The thing was worth going back for, especially considering it only costs $6. I still don't love the rest of the food and the service leaves much to be desired, however, I feel that it is only fair to upgrade Gallucci's to a sold 3 stars for making this lovely creation. If only it didn't take 20 minutes for them to get it out to me and the served it with a smile....

Fresh Imported GABBA-GOO?(Capicola) As well as a SUPERB deli case BRIMMING with other (Prosciutto IS DELISH!!!!!!) Imported meats! Home made pasta all over the place~! The ready made sandwiches and sides are SUMPTUOUS ~!!!!! They have more imported wine and beer here than at some of my favorite haunts closer to home but I'm maybe 25 minutes away so shooting over 490 to E55 doesn't take long at all!!! I've bought from here for years and have always been very pleased with the quality of product I have brought home so.... My advice? If you are looking for GOOD- AUTHENTIC Italian? Gallucci's
(5)Mike G.
I've get lunch here on a regular basis...so why do I keep going back if I only gave 3 stars? The pizza!! There pizza is one of the best I've had, good toppings, thick chewy crust that is amazing. However, I've tried a few other things from their lunch line but the quality and flavor just isn't there. If you go for lunch, get the pizza!
(3)Jorsi B.
One of the most incredible Italian deli's that I have ever seen and tasted!!
(5)George S.
Gallucci's is one of those cool places that is...out of place. You'd expect a premier Italian grocery like this to BE in a place like Little Italy, but instead, it's a little more distant, located in the Euclid Corridor about halfway between Downtown and University Hospitals/University Circle. And it's worth the trip. Gallucci's is a Cleveland institution. Loads of wonderful fare, including exotic oilive oils (which can actually sampled,) loads of amazing pastries, salamis, fresh meats and cheeses, home made sauces dough and components of all types for that special meal Italian-style. On top of that, their prices are great and the service is really good. Their deli/take out place in the back is worth a stop over for lunch; lasagna, meatball subs, chicken and a variety of fresh, hot foods are there for the purchase. I only wish I could stop there more! If you're looking to get some great foods that'll make your palate (and your wallet,) dance, "mambo Italiano" down to Galluci's for a date with some great stuff!

This place is amazing, and living in Chicago it is hard for me to post such a rave review about an Italian place outside of the city, let alone the state :) Every time I go to Cleveland, this place is a must visit. They are efficient, and the food is great. I walked in at lunch with an order of 14 meatball sandwiches, and walked out 15mins later. The warehouse guys all loved it too, and many had not even been there before. I am glad that I have not recruited some regulars.
(5)Adam B.
WOW.....Just wow....If I lived in Cleveland, I would be here all the time. One, it's a great place for lunch. I had a pizza calzone and the amazing hot olive salad (olives, peppers, and veggies all mixed together). Both were delicious. There was a line out the door so clearly this place is well known and popular. There is a bit of seating outside (picnic tables under some cover) but it seems it's mostly carryout. Two, its an amazing grocery store! If you make italian food and live in Cleveland, shop here. Really impressed.
(5)Shichen W.
This place is amazing! You can find almost everything in in Italian cuisine there! I haven't tried their homemade pasta but the cheese and deli meat are great! Not very different than what I had in Italy. It really exceeds my expectation!
(5)Andrew B.
As a lunch spot, Gallucci's is a God-send. They constantly rotate their menu, and the soup selections are always top notch. Pizza slices are huge!
(4)Sara B.
I love Galluci's and thank them so much for staying open late to help me out. I didn't realize how long it would take me to get out there (my gps woefully underestimated) And they were literally all packed up ready to go when I arrived to get a meats from their amazing deli section for a party. They fired up that slicer and made great recommendations on top of it. I wish I had a chance to browse the shop more (it's always been a favorite of my mother's) but they did have fresh figs that were a great accompaniment to the meat and lots of other unique items. Galluci's saved the day! And the other poster is right: just say the name and you'll be happy!
(5)Leigh C.
This place is crazy! I don't even know where to start, really. Ok- I do. Start with the bakery section (unless you're diabetic and can't eat sweets) and grab at least one slice of cake. Maybe two- why not three? You're doing research, right? I like the carrot cake. I love it really. Unless you're there and it's near closing time I think you should not get the last slice of carrot cake because it's possible that I might be coming in and then I wouldn't have any carrot cake- that would be really rude of you. I know you're not like that. Chocolate mousse cake thingies and other cheese cakes and cakes are also great- if you see your favorite dessert you should get it and I imagine pretty soon that the lovely woman behind the counter will soon know what you want before you make your request! While knocking over people to get to the baked goods you'll have passed the prepared food section where some great noodle and olive salad things can be found along with too many other tasty dishes for you to take home and warm up for dinner. They've got an olive bar, a lovely deli section, and at lunch you can grab a sandwich or other quick bite OR stand in line OR if you're on top of things you can phone in an order. I will say (and I do hate to say a bad thing about the place!) I'm not the biggest fan of their pizza squares that are ready for drop in lunchers. Their selection of Italian goods is amazing. I'm not Italian so I can't vouch for anything more than massive selection! I love their spice selection. It's just great! They also have a huge selection of wines. I'm limited in my knowledge of wine as well, but; I can say they've got a variety. And I've never been in the store when finding someone to answer questions or help you find something was a problem.
(4)Sydney G.
The highlight of my trip every time I come to Cleveland. I love their meats and cheeses (hard salami, sopressata, fresh mozzarella), and that garlic loaf and italian bread can't be beat. Their baked goods are outstanding: angel wings, macarons, cookies, and of course, cannoli. So yummy. The actual grocery section is awesome because you can get imported goods at super cheap prices (especially the spices. Virtually unheard of in Charleston. I stock up every time I go!). My mom loves their frozen pasta and italian wedding meatballs, and always gets a bunch of that to cook throughout the year. It makes me sad that I only go here once a year. PLEASE COME TO SC!!
(5)Robert S.
Found this gem after morning visit to Cleveland Clinic. Had $5 calzone and bought cheese, salami, 00 flour, basic vinegar, frozen meatballs, and nut flour. I will return. Calzone tasted great.
(5)Cami T.
OMG. The best eggplant parm I've ever eaten. I've never been in the store but I'm a frequent catering orderer. The food is well priced, delivered promptly (through a service) and it's Ah-Mazing! The Brocolinni looks a little worse for wear but just thinking about it, I'm licking my lips. I can't say enough about the catered food from here, it's out of this world!
(5)Amanda L.
Fantastic cheeses, cassata cake, deli, catering. If you're throwing a party, this is the place to go if you want GOOD quality at a fair price. Love this place. Staff is kind and helpful. I just wish it were in a better location.

The smells are intoxicating as soon as you walk in the door. I have wandered through this store in an aromatic stupor only to find myself at the register with a baket full of deliciousness. On one of my early visits, my in-laws were coming to down so I stopped in for the full antipasta platter supplies. Having only married into a 100% Italian family, I needed some guidance on what to buy ... the guys behind the deli counter, olive bar and bakery gave me perfect suggestions and my in-laws were in awe. They had not seen cappicola or proscuitto like this for years! We sent a nut roll home on the plane and sent torone out for Father's Day. The house cured rosemary ham was sublime and the fresh mozzarella was a dense, creamy delight. Every time I opened a new container or package, the whole family couldn't wait to see how it measured up to their memories - and Gallucci's delivered - and exceeded their expectations every time. I stop in as often as I can and every time I find something new to enjoy. From fresh foods, to homemade frozen or imported cans and jars - it's an on-going battle to be able to lift the basket onto the counter at the end of my visits. The warmth and helpfulness of the owners and staff make Gallucci's one of my favorite places in my new city.
(5)Kimberly S.
I ventured out in the white-out today just for the eggplant parm sandwich - it's that good! I risked my life, and safety of others on the road, to swerve my way to Gallucci's for the sandwich that continues to call my name. Each time it calls - I respond! For $6.00 you get enough food for a small family of four in this sandwich. As Cami T. wisely mentioned - it is amazing eggplant, and they don't skimp on portions. You get layers and layers of yummy breaded eggplant, and the sandwich is cooked to perfection right before your eyes. Hold tight for about 6 minutes and you're biting into a mouthwatering blend of eggplant, homemade sauce, provolone, garlic, roasted red peppers, and crispy bread. I ache for this sandwich ... truth. I hear they have other food, and that it's good too - ha!
(5)Pete L.
The worst sandwich (Italian sub) I ever had. How do you but 1 slice of ham, cheese, pepperoni... Ext, on a piece of so called no taste Italian bread. I'm Italian...these guys should be ashamed of themselves calling this an Italian deli.
(1)Tate D.
"We're not in the lunch line ... we're waiting for olives" ... some friendly guests told me as I stepped into line to get some lunch at Gus's. YES - they have a large selection of olives and many other mostly Italian type items. And yes, it is a joy just to go there and look around. They also have a huge selection of wine, vinegar, olive oil, cheeses and other fun mostly imported stuff. I'm not overly educated on where they get their meats and other perishable fair, but it seems abundant and fresh as well. Mostly, I go there to grab a little lunch (take-out) and remind myself that Cleveland is a real city with authentic people and character. The people here are friendly but not overly so - if you are ordering in the heat of the lunch-hour, you might wanna announce your order quickly and not-quietly to keep the flow moving. As for location - Gallucci's spot it town is a reminder that poverty still exists right next door. This is not a neighborhood to take someone if you are trying to convince them this is a city without challenges. However, most people probably realize Cleveland has challenges ;) My tip: try the eggplant parm sandwich at the lunch counter - if you like this sort of thing, you won't be disappointed.
(4)Mike M.
Great sandwiches. Call ahead if you don't want to wait. My favorite so far is the meatball sub.

OMG!!! What a cluster when I tried to send my dad a gift basket for his birthday!!!!! Four phone calls and no satisfaction at all. I should have known it would be a problem when, during the first call, it seemed to be a surprise that I expected the basket delivered within five days...argh! When the folks I spoke with realized I wanted the basket delivered to an address nearby, they said they could get it there on time but they were unsure about what the final charge would be....well, guess what? No basket and the charges are unspecified and pending. I will NEVER deal with these folks again. I was particularly disappointed since, when I lived in Cleveland, they had good stuff for sale in their store, albeit at inflated prices. Word to the wise, stay away!
(1)Ali G.
Their lasagna is the best lasagna I've ever tasted, hands down. The staff are friendly and the men are flirty! ;) I go here every time I'm in town - it's a must!
(5)Jessica B.
I will not buy a million things because they look and smell amazing. I will not buy a million things because they look and smell amazing. I will not buy a million things because they look and smell amazing. Every time I come in here I have to give myself a little pep talk before going inside. They have an amazing selection of products, which are all reasonably priced. Literally, everything you could possibly need to make an incredible Italian feast is here. Even though I love their homemade pasta, I make my own and they have the best flour here. And the cheese--THE CHEESE! If it wasn't going to kill me, I'd live off of crucolo and nothing else. So delicious!
(4)Amy T.
Good stuff Italian import/food stuff store. They have yummy frozen pizza dough and prepared foods deli counter. Your first time here you will feel intimidated here, especially if you are not Italian, but you are not alone. Make yourself step up to the deli counter and order. My dad often orders lasagna for catered lunches that make the office ladies go nuts.
(4)amy d.
love the hot food bar @ lunch time, I just don't understand why they let the bald guy behind the counter wait on people, he so rude. The owner should know he's not good for business.
(3)Dick S.
Gallucci Gallucci, Gallucci, just saying the name makes me happy. I used to tell my dog that if I gave her to the owner she would be Poochie Gallucci. She did not find it anywhere near as funny as I did. The store has a wonderful deli counter. I make a terrific platter for guests with the Italian roast beef, some of the prosciuttos and salamis, whatever cheeses I find on top of the counter, and as many of the cold dishes I can afford. Get a loaf of bread from the bakery counter and either olive oil or Gallucci's own truffle oil and that is one helluva platter. I also buy a Mazzone pizza. As a kid I lived in a neighborhood with a lot of Sicilians and this was the pizza they ate--cold, tomato sauce only. Not for everyone. Gallucci used to sell the very hard frosted Sicilian cookies but no longer carry them sadly for me. Their frozen pizza crusts are very good as is the preshredded mozzarella and sliced pepperoni. I find the home made sauces rather mundane so prefer my own. Although there are long lines at the hot prepared food counter I have not found anything worth waiting for. Ordinary red sauced pastas, etc. that are at every Italian American dining room. I do go back to that crowded corner but for the olives and specifically the Sicilian assortment. So much cheaper than grocery store olive bars and so many more selections. There is an excellent assortment of olive oils, canned foods and pastas. They even carry some Hungarian products which delights me. This is a store any cook would love and apparently office workers on their lunch hours.
(5)John M.
I haven't been here since 2004. This is by far the best Italian in Cleveland. I used to get the lunch specials while I did my MBA at Case Western. It isn't Brooklyn Italian, but for Cleveland, you will be hard pressed to do much better.
(4)Justin L.
I came here on a recommendation to get one specific product, and they were out. Oh well... I had fun just browsing. I have never been tempted to host an Italian-themed party before, but now I am. I left empty handed because I only wanted that one product, but I'm still giving it 4 stars because I did have the option of leaving with a quart of dried oregano for three dollars. Anytime you can leave somewhere with a quart of oregano, that's 3 stars. If you can do that for a fiver or less, that's another star. If they had that one special product, well...
(4)Jen M.
THE best Tiramisu I've ever had. And their market is great. They make their own pasta so don't forget to stock up on it in the frozen section. Gotta love Mama Gallucci's pasta sauce, too. Damn delicious. And the meatballs are good. The heat and serve pasta with 2 meatballs is awesome. The cutest thing? I went in the first time and asked to taste their sauce. A little lady behind the sandwich counter poured a little bit of sauce in a small plastic cup and heated it up in the microwave before letting me taste it. How cool. Great wine selection, too. Love this place for all things Italian.
(4)Krissie W.
Great lunch options, affordable products. I love that they've stayed in the city rather moving out to the burbs. I am only giving Gallucci's three stars though because the employees there are so rude. Seriously, the grouchy old men who work the cash registers can be downright jerks. And the people working the lunch counter - well, they have somewhat of an excuse because they are dealing with a lot of indecisive and doting customers, but some of them are just MEAN to people. It's completely bizarre.
(3)Teddy B.
Gallucci's is a nice stop for an Italian. It's an Italian Grocery store with its own bakery and deli. I sometimes visit here for lunch when I am at work. It has a good variety of fresh cooked Italian foods as well as Italian brands. The lunch crowd can usually get busy but I don't mind waiting because of the fresh smelling Italian food. Reminds me of growing up when my Dad would cook his spaghetti and meatballs. In short if you are on the fence, it's worth a stop
(3)Paulius N.
Nice Italian (pronounce "EYE-tal-yin") grocery store just outside of downtown. Lots of cheeses, charcuterrie, olives, salads and pastries. You can get sandwiches during the lunch hour along with a few other eyetalyin goodies. I tried the Gallucci pasta sauce recently. Meh. Kind of a let down. A little runny and one dimensional. Much prefer the Maxim's sauce. From Maxim's. Maxims rules.
(3)Mike D.
Gust Gallucci's Italian grocery is one of my favorite stores. I love a place with a learning curve. The first times in you might feel intimidated and out of place, they're not there to teach you about meats and cheeses, you need to bring some know how with you, or pick it up a little bit each time you shop here. You won't find slick little corporate signs telling you all about olives and what to do with them, but eventually you figure it out and become a better shopper and cook and even a better person for it. Weird. I always pick up my Gaeta olives here and my Capicola, Prosciutto, and salami. They have all the oils and canned and dry goods from Italy that there is. You can buy a sandwich at lunchtime but the line can be long, all in all a nice place to shop.
