Corbo's is a classic Italian bakery. The specialize in there cannolis, and they don't disappoint. There are two varieties, chocolate dipped and traditional. The filling is clearly made fresh, and has the classic taste of fresh creme. Along with the cannolis people come for small specialty cookies, and cakes too I believe. I date a Carbone, a member of an old Italian family in Cleveland. Rumor has it that in the past if you went here for a wedding cake, and weren't Italian you were turned away. It was a strictly Italian American only business. I find history fascinating so the history behind this practically historic bakery is breathtaking. I almost wish I had a time machine just so they could tell me to take a hike for the novelty. Ok! Enough history, you walk in, and like any bakery work your way down a line ordering items you see passing by cases as you go. I love this format personally! One other gem here my boyfriend pointed out was the pepperoni bread, it's irresistible. The Cannolis are also the best in the city, if not the United States. Whenever I need a cannoli I know where to go.

Leave the gun. This place is the gold standard for cannoli. I've now eaten cannoli in the Little Italy areas of Cleveland, Boston and Providence - and by far, this is the best of them all. Good shells, filled fresh, and a wonderful, flavorful filling. Side note: They are not open on Mondays. I made the mistake of going to Little Italy on a Monday, and was sad to find that they were closed. While I was walking away, someone else walked up to the door, tried opening it, only to realize that they were closed, and uttered an incredibly loud expletive. He was not unjustified - they are that good, and missing out on that is disturbing.

Stopped in during the Feast of the Assumption after picking up a few bowls of handmade cavatelli at their stand outside the bakery. The bakery smells like a dream--namely, a fragrant, vanilla-scented, ice-cream-y dream. They sport a dazzling array of cookies and cakes, of which we sampled their tiramisu and cannolis. The tiramisu was hands down the best I've ever had: the filling was rich but fluffy and infused with an intense mocha flavor, paired with a crumbly chocolatey bottom layer. Good thing I don't live near Little Italy...I'd have it every day if I could. The cannolis were pretty good but the filling, which is embedded with chocolate chips, had an odd, custard-like--super smooth yet dense-lumpy texture. Colozza's in Parma still has the lead in the cannoli category, at least for me. I'm not sure if they carry this all the time, but their cavatelli was excellent, with the creamy-al-dente texture of fresh pasta and stick-to-you-ribs heaviness that's characteristic of Italian comfort staples. The only drawback: our cavatelli bowls each came with an enormous meatball, just a tad smaller than a baseball, and while the flavor was good, the texture was disappointing. 60% of it must have been comprised of some odd filler that resembled bits of wet paper. In short: Corbo's makes killer tiramisu and cavatelli (pasta only). They'll definitely be on the top of my list when I'm looking for a cassata cake or any cake, really.

I was actually looking for the bakery that my dad would take me to when I was little that was in the same area, but settled on this one. Absolutely NOTHING to write home about. Got the Tiramisu (have had better from a grocery store) and a walnut pastry (looks like a flying saucer). When I got to the counter, bill came to $8, but the price really didn't click until I left. I was wondering what the hell I just bought for $8 and called to see how much each item was. When the lady told me the Tiramisu was $5, I laughed - it could practically fit in the palm of my hand and the walnut pastry was nothing special, the ones sold at Publix in Atlanta are only $1.99 and taste far better!

Italian pastries and desserts hold a dear place in my heart. Which happens to be next to my dessert belly. Growing up in an Italian family, special treats were constantly provided by my Nonna. Corbo's brought me back to those memories. Yelp claimed they were closed after I finished my dinner Sunday night but the 'Open' light was still on close to 6pm. They were definitely rushing to close up for the night but were still friendly as ever! I felt rude so I rushed through my order and didn't get a chance to really browse around but ordered a bag of assorted cookies and a cannoli (duh). The cookies were delicate and fresh and just amazing. The cannoli was filled to order so the shell was fresh and crunchy- the only place I've seen this done at is WSM and until now those were #1 for me. I'll definitely have to go back for some cassata cake next time!

Corbo's has the BEST cannoli in town, and it's not even close by a long shot. Every time I go in there I can expect attentive service and an all around pleasant experience. In addition to the cannoli I'm a huge fan of their rainbow cookies and peanutters. I do have to try their cassata cake, as they advertise that as best in town as well. One of the other added benefits of going to Corbo's is I know they will get to my order efficiently whereas other bakeries you can plan on being there for a while. A little on the cannoli: Regular and chocolate dipped, has hints of cinnamon and the perfect shell/crust. The crust has some good crunch to it, others I've tried around town are a little too chewy. The filling is rich/creamy, and of course the chocolate chips too. Full on endorsement.

While in cleveland recently, we stopped for ice cream at Corbo's which was very good. However, they have a complete array of Italian pastry and desserts and they also sell pasta and jarred sauce. The staff was very friendly and most accommodating. I would recommend and return.

Awesome cannolis. The best in Cleveland. I'm also a huge fan of the cassata cake. I could polish one of those off solo! So good! And considering how crazy busy they are during the Feast of the assumption, they were very quick and courteous.

  • Theresa B.

The cassata cake is every bit as good as the hype. It is a perfectly moist yellow cake, with layers of delicious yellow custard and strawberries, and the whip cream frosting is so light and fluffy. This cake is decadent without being heavy. I just ate a piece, and unfortunately the rest of the cake is at home. I wish I had more cake....

If you're going to get the lobster tail, ask them how fresh it is, or nibble a little piece of it before you leave. I got one and it was so rubbery, fruit leather was easier to cut and chew.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST ITALIAN BAKERY IN THE AREA! I ordered a cassata cake via phone for my boyfriend's birthday and it was the MOST AMAZING cake I've had in a while. Cleveland is famous for it's cassata cake and this is THE place to go. The waitress was very friendly and helpful on the phone - she helped me decide the stuffings, the size, and the toppings and everything. They also accept credit card via phone or payment at pick up.

Great Bakery. Like the freshly made Cannoli, Sponge cake with strawberry & whipped cream, coconut covered cake. Coffee was good too - loved the cups. Behind the counter girls are excellent, one quiet and the other more cheerful. Like the cheerful.

As I prepare to order my ka-billionth Corbo's cake, I figured it was about time to write a review. Corbo's has been part of my life since the day I was born. Every celebration, there was a Corbo's cake present. First communion, numerous birthdays, my wedding cake. Corbo's has always been a special part of the important events. You can't go wrong with the cassata, add rum if you can! Always friendly, always good, Corbo's makes special days even better. :)

What an adorable little bakery! Comapred to Presti's, it's worth pointing out that they put the filling in their canolis at Corbos after you order it, which is neat. They are also much more anise-flavored. To me, that's not appealing, but most people seem to prefer it so - there you go. It's up to personal preference on that one. This place isn't going to have anything really savory like Presti's - it's all cookies and cakes, basically. But they know what they're doing. The cookies are always awesome and the staff is always friendly. I have yet to be let down by the food here. Like I said before, it's just a bakery, not a cafe or lunch spot, so they seem to put a good amount of focus on making the sweets authentic and awesome. I still like Presti's, as well, and basically go back and forth between these two places. I love them both! Definitely worth a trip.

I was visiting Cleveland for the weekend, and my hosts took me to Little Italy for dinner. Being Sicilian, I was loving this. After dinner, one of my hosts wanted lemon ice and wandered into Corbo's. I was ecstatic to discover that Corbo's had Italian sesame cookies! Sesame cookies were a staple of my childhood...and something I haven't had in at least 20 years. They are not made en masse like they used to be, and there is no Italian bakery in Raleigh (something that should really be rectified, but I digress), so I was so happy to see this. I had to buy half a dozen cookies. And they were just like I remembered them--dry and crumbly, with just a hint of extra flavor. (I always taste lemon, but I'm told it's actually anise.) I was a happy camper. Thank you, Corbo's, for returning me briefly to my childhood. :) My Cleveland hosts are coming to Raleigh in a couple of weeks and have promised to bring me more sesame cookies from Corbo's...I hope they do!

You have not lived in Cleveland until you've tried Corbo's tiramisu and cannolis! They're the best :) Plus, there's friendly service. What else can you ask for from a bakery?

Holy Cassata Cake! My favorite since I was a wee lad. Apparently Molto Mario agrees, not that they needed his pompous validation.

If there is any type of competition between the two bakeries, Prestis will impress you with their cafe feel (coffee, breads from Stone Oven), while Corbo's will impress you with their BAKERY. They have these chocolate chip cookies with fudge in the middle, and every time I bite into these little bits of heaven I die all over again. They are soft, and almost taste like raw cookie dough because they are served cold. IT IS A MUST TRY. The lemon bars are almost as good as my own - truly homemade. no gimmicks. I ate 3 under a week - yeah, that good. I prefer prestis for the raspberry linzers, but honestly this place has its niche in my heart! Somewhat sketchy hours - I went there 2 days in a row & they were closed, but clearly it was worth the wait!

    (5)
  • Dina T.

Their desserts are pretty good.. I was considering Corbo's for my wedding cake, but they were a little too pricey for us. Their pepperoni bread is very good, along with their pasta sauces!

One of those cute local bakery's that have all the goodies you'd ever want to satisfy your sweet tooth. I've been living in Cleveland for 5-6 years now, and my first taste of Cleveland was Corbo's Cassata cake (chilled strawberry and cream cake), and it was a moment to remember. The fresh strawberries and jam complimented the light cream and fluffy white cake perfectly. You really need to get each element of the cake on your fork when you eat for the magic to happen When I go to Corbo's, it always makes me happy, great memories, and friendly staff. This bakery is the perfect local go-to for

I like baked goods, I really do. As much as I moderate and watch the portions on the sweet, delicious treats, I am a sucker for high quality baked treats! So it is no mistake, with the help of yelp, that Corbo's was a must-visit place while I visit Cleveland. Situated in the heart of Little Italy, Corbo's roots show and its neat, clean storefront is impeccable. I don't understand the signficance of the Godfather theme they have going on, with the "Leave the gun, take the cannoli," on the door, but I will go with it. The place is spacious and has some seating near the doors. You'll be greeted by all the treats to your left, along with the helpful staff. To the right, they have some other culinary goods like Corbo's homemade pasta sauce, pasta, etc. There is so much selection! Make sure you know what you want because you will be standing for a bit just trying to decide. We went with some petit fours (extremely sweet!), coconut macaroons, cannoli, and tiramisu. The smaller treats were delicious and gone instantly, like take a picture and by the time your review it on your camera and it's gone. I had never had tiramisu, nor cannoli before, but on both accounts Corbo's made me a believer. I can only hope that future establishments I frequent will produce this quality. Again, I don't get the Godfather theme with this place; But Corbo's Bakery is going to make you some baked goods you can't refuse.

Picked up some cannoli and Tiaramisu....stay tuned!!! The Tiaramisu was really good as expected!!! The Cannoli was fine, I understand that you can only do so much with Cannioli but if you don't mess it up with foofiness then naturally they'll be just fine!

  • Angie P.

Corbo's is the only place that my family got Cannolis from. They're the absolute best around and I haven't found a better one in various states that I have traveled to. I now live in Columbus Ohio so I make a point to get a Cannoli whenever I'm in town. Love, love, LOVE.

Attention cookie lovers: if you prefer the brightly-colored, sweet, soft cookies, like rainbow ones for example, or those pink or green leaves with chocolate in the middle, then go to Corbo's instead of Presti's!! I went to Presti's the other night in search of some sugar. While that bakery was populated and fun in its own way, with lots of coffee drinkers and "designer" looking pastries, it's not what I was craving. Went to Corbo's, and I knew just from the smell walking in that I had found what I was looking for. Everything was fantastic, from the chocolate drops to the raspberry-filled. My favorites are always the rainbow cookies, though, and I was so happy they had them here! My husband loved the cannoli too, and said the shell was light and airy and the filling was smooth and not overly sweet with a great texture and crunch overall. Would love to come here for a big-ass cake sometime.

  • Ashley H.

I judge and italian bakery by their rainbow flag cookies, if I'm lucky enough that they serve them. These were amazing, possibly better than my fav mikes pastry in boston. Nope, they were definitely better. I will be back!

Located in the heart of Little Italy on Mayfield Road, Corbo's is a fourth generation Italian bakery specializing in cassata cakes, cannolis, tiramisu, lemon ice and other Italian pastries. On a recent trip, I had the chocolate cannoli. The tube shaped fried pastry was perfectly crisp. The ends dipped in chocolate & upon ordering, filled with a fresh, sweet, creamy ricotta cheese mixture. The divine combination sent my pallet on a wild journey through flavortown. Madone!

Corbo/'s is an awesome, old style bakery like the kind you remember going to with your Grandma as a kid. They have everything--- and I have never had any bread or pastries or cannolis from Corbo's that are not perfect. We stop here every time we are in Little Italy-- and always wished they wee closer. Was so glad when they opened an outlet in Brunswick.

  • Patrick W.

DELICOUS! My girlfriend and I were lured in by the smell wafting it's way down the block. "Lets just go in to look and we'll come back later and buy something", I said. Of course the second we crossed the threshold into Corbo's bakery, we knew that wasn't going to happen. It was one of my dreams coming true. Cookies, Cannolis, and Cakes Galore! Check it out! Recommendation: Cucidad (sp?- the fig cookie) and a coffee!

  • Holly N.

Go and get a friggin' cannoli already!!!! The best bakery in Little Italy and perhaps in all of Cleveland. You can't beat their fresh handmade cannolis, so why try? I've also had their cakes and they are wonderful. Every time I go to Little Italy I make a stop and you should, too.

    (5)
  • Ermelinda C.

The place to get your cassatta cake from - no joke. I forget all the rest after a piece or two of it... Corbo's Bakery makes fantastic wedding cakes as well and they have won several national wedding cake awards - just saying ;-)

    (5)
  • Annalise P.

Corbo's cannolis. If there was a way to just order the filling by the liter, I could probably exist on it alone. These are the best cannolis I have ever had. So splurge a little bit and get one, splurge a little more and get a chocolate dipped cannoli.

    (5)
  • Adam H.

MMMMMMM cannolis and chocolate cake! These guys are the pros when it comes to good old Italian desserts. Yes they have hype working in their favor, but they earned it! The Little Italy area is full of history and just a really cool place to walk around and try all the food! The smell in this place is just amazing too. If they could bottle it into a candle or something they would be millionaires! Maybe!? This is a must try for all fans of Italian desserts

    (5)
  • Diana M.

They have awesome chocolate chip cookies baked with chocolate inside but if you are looking for cassata cake go to Presti's!!

    (4)
  • Soly Z.

The cannolis are perfection because of one key difference between Corbo's and other Italian bakeries; they keep the filling in the fridge in piping bags, and only fill each shell as the cannolis are ordered. The result is a perfectly crunchy shell that hugs its creamy riccota filling without sogginess. The staff on duty the day I visited the bakery had no idea how to prepare espresso drinks. This normally would have irritated me enough to knock off an entire star from a review. However, the desserts made up for this deficiency and the regular drip coffee actually ended up being really good.

  • Habby H.

Of the 2 bakeries in Little Italy, Corbos is by far, the best! The cookies are super fresh and they melt in your mouth. The creamy cassata cake is the best I've had (Mario Batali apparently agrees). The chocolate fudge cheesecake is to die for! I'm not a fan, but I've heard the cannolis are the best...getting their sweet tasty filling AFTER you buy them, which is a necessity. People come from all over for the pepperoni bread. It truly is, ALL THAT. Don't forget to try the spinach version! I think I like that one better. I haven't had anything I didn't like and I've tried just about everything at this point. The prices are definitely high, but that's to be expected. Try finding pastry this good anywhere else! Corbos used to be on the corner of Mayfield and Murry Hill. They recently moved next door, which just made sense. The old place, although charming and old school, was too small and was falling apart. The new place is huge, complete with tables and chairs and large cases full of goodies. My one big complaint is the ambiance (which is why I'm giving a 4 star rating). It's so bright, it feels like a grocery store. There's nothing warm or inviting about the place. I feel like I'm on display when inside. There's no need for the stark lighting for the pastry cases are well lit. It's a shame because the place could be really nice. I go in and I get out quick. You won't find locals hanging out with their laptops here. When it's warm, you can sit outside, which is nice. If Corbos were to get wise and soften the lighting, maybe adding a drop fixture or two, they'd be a really be a force to recon with.

  • Janice S.

Love this place! I can see why both Presti's and Corbos can coexist across the street from one another. They are great bakeries in their own right. For cassata cake, though, Corbos is awesome. My mother fondly remembers going to family weddings and always having cassata cake. If it passes her standards (it does) then that says volumes.

    (5)
  • Liz R.

My mouth is watering just thinking about this place. I don't go here often, but when I do, it's on a mission for cassata cake. Every birthday in my family has been celebrated with one for more than a decade now and with good reason. I've never had better cassata from anywhere else. Hands down. Oh, and the canoli aren't so bad either ;)

  • T. S.

Authentic. Italian. Pastries. This place would not be out of place anywhere in Italy (especially Naples, teehee). Truly a gem for Cleveland. ps. don't complain about the parking -- walk, or ride a scooter. :)

My bikini body's biggest enemy in Cleveland. Drool worthy homemade pastry need I say more?? Corbo's is a place you go and you are instantly taken back to a time when you were with your parents in a candy store for the first time as a child. With childlike wonder you see all the pastries through the glass. The pure excitement of the joy you are about to experience with every bite it magical. You'll never be rushed to make a choice even on their busiest days. There is not a single thing I have had from Corbo's that wasn't sheerly orgasmic. Everything is done with the perfection and love of a grandmother. It truly is a slice of homemade heaven. Not to Miss: Tiramisu, soft not soaked lady fingers with the smoothest marscapone perfectly sweetened and vanillaed all topped with a layer of fine Italian espresso. Cassatta cake, white cake, creamy vanilla pudding, fresh strawberries all topped with homemade whipped cream. Cannoli Ever wonder why the godfather passed on the advice leave the gun take the cannoli? Try corbo's it will be apparent. Creamsicle Torte Orange, Cream, Vanilla really is there anything that takes you back to orange popsicles stuffed with vanilla ice cream as well? Peperonni bread, Cured meat, fresh mozarella, and flaky Italian bread best lunch you can ever have. Hit or miss: um. . . the weather. .. .it is in Cleveland Avoid like the plague: Only if your watching fat sugar or cholesterol.

  • P W.

The cassata cake was delicious. The cannoli was good. The tiramisu was also a great desert. I came here after taking mom out for lunch and we both ate a lot of unhealthy deserts. It was worth it. A great way to end a day or night in Little Italy.

  • Lee K.

I've been to Corbo's and Presti's a couple times and find that the pastries taste much fresher and better at Presti's. The cassata cake tasted somewhat dry and heavy at Corbo's while at Presti's it was fresh and moist and blended together with the layers of custard. I'm not sure what to make of the cookies at Corbo's. They had a a somewhat unfresh aftertaste that made me wonder if they were baked with margarine. I suspect that everything is fresh at Corbo's but the consistency and flavor don't prove it.

  • Karen W.

Corbo's has excellent cakes and Italian desserts. The orange creamsicle cake is amazing! I'm also a fan of the rum baba.

  • Ron A.

There cannolis are the best I've ever had. I would recommend the chocolate dipped shell, they are pricey ( $3.75 ) , but they are worth every penny. From what I have herd there cassata cake is the best in the country, according to Mario Batali: "Corbo's Bakery has the best cassata [cake] I have tried in the USA," says chef and Food Network star Mario Batali.

    (5)
  • Alan W.

Best canoli i've ever had, and I've had a few. That's the reason I go here and they are pretty much all I get. And I love the motto posted on the door, "Leave The Gun, Take The Canoli."

After ten years (so far) of exile in MA and numerous trips to the North End Dear Hubby and I have not been able to find any bakery as good as Corbo's. Had to make the pilgrimage to Corbo's when we were in OH last week and once again they did not disappoint. Got a sack of their biscotti and compared one-to-one against a bakery near our home. No contest...Corbo's far and away superior. *sigh* Too bad they're over 600 miles from my taste buds right now. :-( BTW, it's ALL good!

Pastries and service are excellent! We generally stop here (and Presti's) and pick up cookies to bring back for friends - the food is outstanding and we are much appreciated when we share it.

Mah, do not like the new location. It really lost a lot of charm. Cannolis still great though.

Not usually one for deserts, but the Corbo Casatta Cake is one that you will always, ALWAYS use as the gold standard. Word in the food world has Mario Battalli as one of it's biggest fans.

  • Michelle T.

I wasn't incredibly impressed, esp after visiting Presti's across the street and seeing the better *looking* goods (such as the fig thingies and biscottis in general). However, the cassata is what my family has been ordering for years! I will still pop in here, but not to get all my bakery needs.

We go to Corbo's a few times a year when traveling from Chicago. Hands down the best Italian bakery we have found. It is worth waiting in line for their fresh creations.

  • Sarah S.

Was not too impressed with Corbo's. Try Presti's instead! Presti's has much better variety of pastries and foods, as well as gelato. One thing corbo's does have is Italian ice though.

Who doesn't love a cannoli? Especially when it's made to order. Couldn't help myself, bought a creme puff and some lemon biscotti for road. All quite delish.

Never disappointed. I've loved their cannolis since I was a little girl. I absolutely love going here and we'll always try to stop in when we can.

  • Jessica H.

Yum! Maybe I just picked right on this one? Maybe it is the best? But the tiramisu won my heart! I visited during the Feast of the Assumption and even though vendor food is sometimes subpar, the tiramisu was a little piece of heaven! I was with a few friends and it was hard for us to share. We also ordered some of the famous cassata cake, which was yummy, but as best as I can describe, it's like a muted sweetness. This was my first time trying the cake. It wasn't what I expected. The strawberries were big and juicy, the cake and cream light and fluffy. But that tiramisu. Oh that tiramisu! Mmmm. I forgot how much I love that stuff. Thank you for the reminder Corbo's!

Stopping here is a must anytime I'm on the Eastside or even remotely close. I stopped in originally to try their cannoli. These are great because not only do they come in different sizes, but they are filled to order. Delicious & fresh! Now here is the reason I can't stay away: I wanted something different so I randomly ordered a piece of the orange torte. Oh. My. Goodness.. Is this real life? This is the BEST dessert I have ever had. It's tart, incredibly moist & layered perfectly. They also have a raspberry torte that is equally amazing. I have purchased an entire torte for family parties & it's always a hit. It's also very reasonably priced. These are both available frozen if you don't plan on being home for awhile (the single pieces & the entire torte). Last but not least, their biscotti is perfect with your morning coffee. I love that they have the broken pieces discounted as well. If I am not near the Eastside, I will make a stop at a Marc's location since they have many of the items there & they are always just as good. The Brecksville Marc's has a large Corbo's section.

Surprisingly delicious baked goods! I went to the location in the Marc's grocery store in Mayfield Heights, and was slightly put off by the dingey packaging atmosphere. I didn't expect much from their baked goods and wouldnt have bought anything if my boyfriend hadn't ko kept enthusiastically mentioning grabbing some sweets, but I'm really glad we decided to buy aome pastries! The names of the pastries we bought escape me now, but the taste never will! I bought a pastry that was similar to a bear claw but was much, much more delicious. It managed to be very rich, very gooey, very nutty, and very flaky, and very airy all at the same time. Boyfriend got what im assuming was shortbread cookie rounds with fruit preserve in the middle. I wasn't a fan of those since I usually dont like that type of cookie, but he definitely enjoyed them much more than other variations he had tried. I will for sure be visiting this place again on my next trip to Cleveland.

Corbo's at Mapleside made a wonderful cassata cake for my sister's baby shower last weekend. It looked and tasted like a wedding cake! Thanks so much for making the day so special!

Had to stop at Corbo's Bakery because my husband was craving some Cassata cake and this is the place to get it. I ordered a few cookies, the rainbow ones and the leaf cookies. The leaf ones were disappointingly not crispy, but still tasty. His cassata cake was also a disappointment. Apparently Corbos used to use a whipcream topping and now they settle for cool whip. He even told me that the one I made him for his birthday was better. Such a compliment & you see how nice I am making cassata cake for the husband. :)
