I used to love this place. Went on Sunday with family to celebrate graduation. Our server was absolutely awesome. He really made it fun and memorable. However, the two seafood dishes we had were very poorly executed. Maybe that is a "Sunday thing." Diver scallops (4 other them) surrounded a goofy, Asian style slaw. My wife asked me for my halibut, which was small and very dry. Halibut was served over bed of ordinary green beans.

Been there a few times with family. Average food. A few family member have trouble finding something but all love the banana cream pie dessert.

I tried the featured scallop special of the day and it was just amaaaazing. Bread was great too. Definitely coming back here again.

Salads are amazing here. Took my Dad here for his birthday and we all ordered steak and fish and were all happy with our meals and service. Hope to be back soon.

Enjoyed another great meal at Trio. Their Brunch was delightful. As another diner commented, the food was "amazing". We enjoyed the Eggs Benedict, Yogurt Parfait, Waffles and Cowboy Omelet. Despite their regular menu prices being high, brunch was very reasonably priced. The service was outstanding. Our server was very attentive yet not overbearing. The drinks were always filled, and he offered good suggestions for brunch selections. My only criticism is that they should bring back the brunch buffet. It was suburb.

Been many times for lunch and never disappointed. I usually go for the soup and salad but if I'm hungry, the sandwiches are big enough for two. Nice to escape from the Kenwood Mall to a quieter place to relax after following the mad shopper. Highly recommend Trio for a good food and drink.

I'd never been here before, though I had seen it many times as I drove past it. It was everything I could have expected, beautiful atmosphere, wonderful staff, amazing and delicious food too. I got the Grouper sandwich without the gluten, and a side of pesto aioli which was simply the best sauce I think I've ever had, I will for sure be going back for more whenever I am able. I also had a side of sweet potato fries (my favorite side dish), and fruit. Everything was prepared to perfection and I was very pleased with the overall presentation as well. I definitely recommend this place!

I've always thought this place was a bit more my parents' speed -- but decided to give it a whirl after buying a Groupon ($40 for $25). We'd just come from a wine tasting so decided to order just one glass of white to go with my scallop/shrimp pasta; the server graciously brought me two to try: an ounce of chardonnay and a pinot. Most of the wines are $9-12 a glass, bit high for the area. Ultimately neither was impressive, so I stuck with a Gruner Veltliner at $10.45 a glass -- refreshing, not too acidic, pretty good pairing with the pasta. My entree ($27.95 shrimp and scallops) was dressed in a white wine cream sauce that proved surprisingly light, the pasta cooked slightly al dente, just the way I like it. Only two scallops, which proved bit disappointing. I did manage to pawn off my broccoli on the husband. He was less than charmed. His entree, chicken in red sauce and cheese, was ultimately too garlicky for him (although to be fair I liked it), so he sent it back and replaced it with the kobe beef sliders (which he thought had cheese sauce?! vs real cheese). So, it was a pretty good date night until ---the manager got into a long-winded diatribe with the couple behind us. Awkward. It went on for a good 10 minutes as he defensively explained how they hardly make $12 a head these days and why they couldn't take some discount or other. Sheesh. Way to air your dirty laundry in front of patrons. Not cool. Verdict: food pretty decent, ambience --umm, awkward.

Went to Trio's again last night with a few friends for my birthday. It was wonderful as always. Everyone loved their food! I had the lemon chicken and my one friend had the fish special. The waitress was wonderful and it was just all around great food, ambiance and service! Keep up the good work!

My girlfriend brought me for my birthday. It was fantastic! This was my first time here and I'd heard good things but had no idea what to expect. We were given a terrific circular booth table that was out of the way and everyone working there greeted me by wishing me a happy birthday. I really felt like the management and staff were in on celebrating my day with me. It was awesome! I had the sea bass and it was so fantastic that it's difficult to explain. There are a lot of flavors in there that are perfectly balanced. Perfectly cooked with a light sear to the outside that gives way to a flaky, moist inside. The rice and vegetables are cooked perfectly and the sauce is a great accompaniment. In a bite you can taste every single element but none of them takes over. Texturally it is perfect as well. Light crisp to the outside of the fish, firm flesh, soft rice and veg that still has some tooth to it. One of the best dishes in Cincinnati. Had the creme brulee for dessert and it was executed perfectly. A lovely yet light vanilla flavor, sweetness of the caramelized sugar crust on top, the slight sour from the custard and brightness of the fresh berries. It worked so well with my after dinner coffee that I wish I had it every time I drank a cup! The manager stopped by our table and thanked us for choosing to spend my birthday with them. I can guarantee that I will choose to spend more evenings here in the future!

If you're looking for an intimate meal with some fine dining, Trio would be a good choice. They've got a nice array of entrees that are of American and Italian cuisine and also many drink specials. My boyfriend and I had the 3-cheese macaroni as an appetizer and the combination of the rich cheese sauce, fresh jalapeno, and crispy bread crumbs were a delicious combination and shell pasta held the sauce very well. I had the Veal Poccata which had a lemon caper sauce and a side of angel hair pasta and it was very good. My only complaint was that the veal was very oily. My boyfriend had the NY strip steak, which I think was better than my meal. The food was definitely good enough to come back and try another dish and I'd recommend coming here for a nice date night or a special occasion since the vibe is so intimate. The staff were also great and very friendly.

Great management and service. Love going their for lunch. I think they have a nice menu and very tasty food. Their soups are out of this world. Dinner is great too. The bar is fun and lively. The restaurant is plenty big for anything you need. It's a big miss if you haven't tried it yet.

This place is just fine. We split a $32 New York Strip steak (14oz) and got an extra side of mashed potatoes for $3 in order to keep our bill down and that was a very smart decision in the end because this place is expensive. The steak and mashed potatoes were good but nothing out of the ordinary or memorable. I'm not going to think twice about it after this review, but it wasn't bad or anything. It was enough food for the two people. They have free bread and that was nice. The butter had some sort of greenery in it and I liked that quite a bit. We didn't get to order another round of it before the meal came. We also got two glasses of happy hour wine good. I recommend this place for happy hour wine. The whole meal up to this point was fine but honestly not worth the money. However, we ordered a piece of lemon cream and banana cream pie and those were very good. They're $7 a piece and were surprisingly large (I expected small pieces with some piece of inedible flower next to it since this is a fancier place that charges so much for food, but they didn't). All in all, I wouldn't recommend this place to someone not looking to spend $80 for a meal (for two). It's not THAT good. It's just fine.

It's hard to not compare Trio to the chic cafes that dot the Upper East Side of NYC. For me, Trio is a place to see-and-be-seen in Cincinnati. A great and diverse crowd almost always. Enough social stuff, getting to business: the calamari is not breaded, which is refreshing and delicious, served with a tangy sauce. The brie is excellent with the apple slices and cranberry. The gazpacho is perfect, but I believe it's a soup du jour, so no guarantee. Burger is wonderful. Great for lunch and dinner, relaxed but attentive service. Wine list includes champagne (not a staple in Cincinnati!)

Lunch yesterday, had the salmon special and companion had the mahi sandwich and gazpacho. Everything was good, food, service and atmosphere. I've eaten here several times and it is consistently good.

Trio's is always a hit when it comes to high-end casual dining with great food. They have a wide variety menu with options for vegan/vegetarians, children, and even picky eaters. The service has always been great, I have been coming here for the past 15 or so years. Last week the service was outstanding. Our server provided great insight to her favorite dishes and the best sellers on the menu. The food was impeccable, my boyfriend ate his pasta in under 5 minutes and was stuffed afterwards. It seems a little pricey but there are plenty of deals they are currently running. We had purchased something off of livingsocial/groupon which helped with the check. We are very happy customers and will be back soon!

Food is delicious and served hot. At end of main course, server offered to bring more tea. Later, she brought a dessert menu. Later, she took our order. Later, she brought the dessert. Later, she finally brought the hot water for the tea! I left a note with the tip: "l tip better when tea brought in a timely fashion.

Simply over rated. You pay too much for what you get and the servers seem put off to be serving you.

Came here on a whim. Service was slow and the food was ok. In my opinion, there is not much special about this place and it wouldn't top my list. My advice is to hit up a chain restaurant over this one. The food and service is more reliable for this price point.

  • Shon M.

They have a decent menu with lots of options, but we had a group of 10 and 3 of the 10 meals where sent back, and one was brought out wrong. We also ordered a bottle of wine, but after 10-15 minutes they could not find anymore of that wine. Overall it was ok. Would probably come back and try again sometime in the future.

  • Mike S.

Meal was very good as usual. Service was a little slow and considering the number of diners, this was a little odd. Greg Pancero needs to rethink his decision to squelch 1/2 price wine night in favor of 25% off. The place is nearly empty on a Friday night when it used to be packed. A marketing blunder to be sure. Lots of competition Greg. You have to differentiate. I might also add, the wine prices have increased and you have to ask for a "nicer" glass if you don't buy a bottle. Trio is a good restaurant. It used to be my go to on a Friday night because of the wine deal. No more.

My favorite place in Kenwood for salads. This place is packed at lunch time and pretty empty the rest of the day. Service is very good!

Was here for the Sunday Easter brunch. I'm not very familiar with Easter brunch prices but this one seemed very reasonable. The environment was great. Sat in the screened in patio area and weather could not have been better. Variety of food choices was very good. Hand cut filet was my favorite. Plenty of traditional breakfast items including an omelet bar. Only real complaint was the setup for the buffet line was very cumbersome and confusing to some guests. Overall this is a solid choice for Easter Sunday.

I hadn't eaten here in over a year, so I thought I 'd go back for the Nicoise salad that I always used to get because it was so good. I arrived for lunch with 3 friends about noon. We were seated in the newer addition with the large windows overlooking the parking lot. It was a nice room, but the sun was blinding my friends who were facing the windows. We asked the waiter to please have some of the shades pulled down to block the sun, and he did - and it helped a lot. The service continued to be good. All of our food was good, but not outstanding. Since the prices seemed a bit high for what we got, I'm only rating Trio a 3 * instead of 4*. I eat in this class of restaurant often so I have many comparisons to consider. My Nicoise salad was still good but seemed like there were less of the "good" ingredients and more lettuce than I remember. There also was very little dressing (which I got on the side) but since I was trying to limit calories I did not ask for more. All four of us were celebrating our birthdays that were within the past week, so I asked what they might do "on the house". The waiter brought us out each a nice "childs" sundae that was a nice ending to our meal. For his trouble I left him an extra big tip. I may go back someday, but I'm not in a hurry to do so.

My sister and brother recommended this place,so I had to try it. Of course I went with my brother and sister! I ordered the trio's chicken pot pie, my sister ordered the lemon chicken and my brother ordered the pork chops with potatoes. We also ordered calamaris and French onion soups. Let's start with the appetizers...the calamaris tastes fresh and crunchy but I would've liked the sauce with marinara versus the "asian zing" type of sauce. It didn't compliment the calamaris. The presentation of the onion soup didn't seem appetizing. The Parmesan should be oozing out of the bowl. The soup tastes good though. It wasn't salty like most of the restaurants. My chicken pot pie was absolutely disgusting. It didn't look good, the sauce was too creamy with strips of chicken that tasted like rubber and the veggies didn't compliment the soup. The only good thing from my dish was the puff pastry on top. The lemon chicken had a creamy sauce with mushrooms and capers which was so good! I had a piece of my brother's pork chop dish. The pork chops was cooked perfectly with the glaze and the potatoes along with my bite of the pork chops was divine. I had to tell the waiter to take my meal back and the waiter asked if I wanted anything but honestly I was too tired and didn't want to wait any longer at the restaurant. The manager (I'm assuming) came to the table and apologized to me and offered a dessert. I picked the lemon cream pie. The pie was pretty good. Maybe I'll come back here and try the food again, but maybe not.

I love to sit at the bar and have wine and appetizers. The food is always great and the service is as well. I was a little disappointed one time when I asked for a glass of cab and instead of offering me the $5 happy hour glass, they served me something for $13 a glass without letting me know there is a special.

I have come to Trio's 2 or 3 times a year since they opened.....always at the behest of a companion or business associate. I have a hard time making my experiences there jibe with the descriptions here of "warm," "relaxing," "welcoming," "just hang out," or "best on east side." The food is good, yes, but it's good at lots of other places. It's very loud and I find the decor to be cold and very impersonal. The service is impersonal, too, and the feel of both the service and the menu is very corporate. By that I mean, you really don't feel the guiding touch of a chef or sole proprietor. To me, this is a price range ($15 and up for an entree salad) that should deliver something more somehow....say, a super warm welcome or AMAZING food, or a creative entree you can't get anywhere else. I don't find it to be any better than panera or nordstrom. I've had the salade nicoise, the meatloaf they brag about, every appetizer, every flatbread. Meh! This is the kind of thing that was exciting in 1980. Today we were there during lunch hour and were really rushed out after less than an hour, with no line waiting. I can honestly say I've never felt more rushed anywhere. Special requests (an extra pickle) were repeatedly ignored. To me, it seems a customer chooses his type of restaurant precisely BECAUSE it allows them to sit and talk, or get an extra pickle spear. I'll be back (business) but never because I want to be. And I can't recommend it!

I purchased a Groupon for $40 worth of dinner - after reading through the Yelp reviews, it seemed like that might be the best way to maximize my value. All of the food we had was pretty good, but two small plates and two flatbreads used up our total Groupon. You get complimentary bread and butter, and after finishing the Pecan Crusted Goat Cheese (my favorite of the meal!) and about half of Chef Wylie's Mac & Cheese, we only had room to try one slice of our flatbreads (Traditional and Mediterannean). We didn't have any complaints, but outside of the Goat Cheese, our meal was nothing to write home about. The only vegetarian entree was the $20 Pasta Primavera. Service was good - our waitress was attentive and she even inquired in the kitchen to make sure our mac & cheese was completely vegetarian. With the prices and limited vegetarian selection, we are unlikely to return.

Always good great service excellent location. Our waitress Amy was good the foods selected included the veal picatta, pasta and sauce not my favorite, shank bone excellent goat cheese salads with grilled chix very good choice. Wine by glass lots of options and the desserts we couldn't decide got two to share amongst the fours of us ...warm chocolate with ice cream and the butterscotch Special.

We decided to take our two daughters to Trio where we have not been for quite some time. We will not go back again. The cocktail prices were the highest I have seen in some time and not very good. Three of the four meals were average at best. My wife's pork chop was as much fat as there was meat. My daughters filet was the quality of Outback Steak House and not worth the $36 dollars. My other daughters Sea Bass was excellent however my meatloaf was the quality of a frozen dinner. On the plus side the apple crisp was excellent. Service also was not great. Next time we will go to embers where the money is well worth the quality of the food.

They say to wait before you yelp, give it some time and if you're still aggravated after a few days, it's warranted. I like my review is, after nearly a week since I visited Trio. I was visiting my family and friends in Cincinnati from Austin, Texas. My last day in town, my dad, stepmom, grandmother and I head over to Trio for a fancy lunch. I always saw Trio on Kenwood road when I lived in Cincinnati, and it looked nice from the outside. I was excited to have something decent to eat after a weekend of greasy Skyline and LaRosa's. We walk in and the decor is old and shabby. Whatever. I'll eat a meal sitting on the sidewalk if its good enough. We sit down and the server comes over to greet us and tell us the specials, etc. The real shame is that she was so nice! Prompt, personable and put together. Awesome. I order the ahi tuna salad and request it to be cooked medium, thinking that it would come out as a single piece, maybe cut and fanned over the salad. This is where my experience takes a horrible turn. The food comes out and my salad is a bunch of sad spring mix topped with what looks like tuna jerky, mostly overcooked and a strange bit of rawness on one end. I couldn't even touch it. So I sent it back. The lovely server apologized and asked me if I would like something else. So I ordered a caprese salad. The salad comes out and the plate is ice cold. This is something that has been pre assembled and refrigerated. There's an enzyme in tomatoes that turns off when refrigerated, that basically renders the tomato flavorless. So I'm setting myself up for flavorless tomato-ness. I take a bite or two. The mozzarella was horrible and chalky. I don't know if the curd was overworked in the cheesemaking process or if they just buy from a bad vendor or if it was just old, but it was really gross. To top it off, there was no actual basil in the salad, only a drizzle of pesto and some sort of balsamic reduction business. I call the server over and send it back. At this point, I'm really frustrated. My grandmother offers me half of her sandwich, which was totally sweet of her, but not the answer I was looking for. I felt like the people eating here were being duped. Sixteen or so bucks for each of the disappointing items I ordered is too much to begin with, even for a place that touts fine dining. Luckily neither of the things I ordered were charged to our bill, but when we left, my dad said that the hot ham and gruyere that he ordered reminded him of a time he got a terrible sandwich from Waffle House. I think this place could be awesome if they had a better kitchen and maybe some simpler outfitting of the dining area itself, but until then, I couldn't bring myself to recommend this place or go back the next time I'm in town.

I've always enjoyed Trio, but was very pleased to try their Sunday brunch for the first time yesterday! They have omelettes to order with lots of fresh, quality ingredients (smoked gouda, yay!) and a small buffet with fresh waffles, bacon, sausage, potatoes, plus any bread item you could want - muffins, bagels, english muffins, etc. It is a limited selection, but very good quality. I was especially pleased with the service we had! The friendly omelette chef was so patient and he made an amazing omelette. Our server, Ray, was amazingly kind, and made sure our glasses remained full and our table was happy at all times. Happy to know that the quality service and food at Trio are consistent, even on a Sunday morning!

Trio review? You don't need a review....you need to be here! TRIO is, IMHO, the most comfortable and welcoming restaurant on the East side of Cincinnati. The food is consistently delicious but, stick with the simpler offerings. My go to meal is always the homemade vegetable soup and the Ahi tuna salad with extra tuna.....light and tasty! In moments of weakness, I love the flatbread selections. In the evenings, this is a place where wine is an essential rather than an obligation. Once again, it is due to the relaxing atmosphere and a desire to hang around. A special note regarding the service.....it's the best in town...everyone is special and the wait staff is beyond comparison.

Went here for dinner during a weekend trip to Cinci. I found this place on Groupon, thankfully, becuase otherwsie I couldn't have afforded the dinner. The waiter was very professional & attentive. The food was really delicious. I had the mac & cheese small plate, a butternut squash bisque and the short rib over polenta. The food was all very delicious, and they had what seemed to be an extensive wine list. One thing I did notice is that my boyfriend & I were the only people there under 40. Not sure why that is, maybe because it's an expensive place. The food is worth the trip, however be prepared to drop about $80 on a dinner for two. In my eyes, that warrants mroe than the $$ listed on the overview at the top, but hey, I suppose that is relative. This was the only reason I gave it 4 stars because some of the dishes seemed extremely overpriced. $30+ for a pasta dish? Sorry, but no. IN SHORT: Great food, great service, be prepared to spend some coin & watch old folks dine.

I'm always a little surprised how good Trio is - year after year. I first ate there about 15 years and each time it's been really good. Very consistent. I highly recommend the seabass - it's terrific. Love this place!

Ask any chef, especially one that used to work at Trio, which restaurants they'd rank at the top in Cincinnati and Trio will usually top the list. Why; great eclectic menu executed with precision. Former chefs leave Trio to build great restaurants but Trio is the exemplar. Tell owner Greg Pancero that Mark Faust sent you and watch what happens, then mention I'm Larry Higdon's friend, he'll light up. There is a reason this was one of Carl Lindner's favorite spots. Find out why.

At this price point, I have a hard time recommending Trio. $33 for a 6 ounce filet? Spend the extra ten bucks and get one twice that size and three times as good from any of the Jeff Ruby establishments. My problem with Trio is that they tout themselves as fine-dining. I see them more as a middle tier family oriented restaurant. Would anyone ever actually pick this place over Boca? How about Local 127? I certainly wouldn't. Having said that, their roasted mushroom and goat cheese flat-bread was fantastic! I just can't justify adding this place to my rotating dinner list.

We were in the area and looking for a nicer lunch spot, so chose Trio. I had been there once before for dinner, but a long time ago and the only thing I could remember was that I thought it was overpriced. I figured lunch was pretty safe, but we still walked out of there with a $40 tab for 2 people (including tip) so yeah, still pricey even for lunch. The interior is nice, but looks a little like it was designed to look really modern back in the early 1990s. Tables by the window are best if you can get one as the rest of the dining room can be quite dark. Service was very good--fast, attentive, and courteous. My husband got a cup of lobster bisque and the Trio salad. He liked the bisque and though the salad was just OK. I got the blackened grouper sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fish was pretty good, a tad fishy, but nice blackening seasoning, but the bun was very disappointing--just a plain white bread hamburger bun; definitely expected more from a place/price like this. The sweet potato fries were very good--nice crisp on the outside and good sweet potato flavor inside; didn't care for the dipping sauce they came with though (tasted great just plain). Overall, a nice place with great service, but can't say the food completely justifies the prices.

We went for Sunday brunch. This is NOT worth 15$. The eggs were absolutely disgusting. It was nice to have choices and a lot of them for your omelet, but low grade eggs to fill the skillet completely ruined it. The service was meh. Many other members of our party were blinded because there were no blinds for a huge window at this way overly expensive restaurant. There were a few broken chairs. It took half an hour to ring up our party's checks. (There really weren't that many mistakes on the checks either) I will not be returning here. For the amount of money this place charges you'd think the food would be much better.

Great service and menu selection. Seating is vet comfortable. The fish and veggies seems to be covered in butter, very greasy even though that wasn't expected. It's a nice place, but it feels like health is sacrificed for taste by adding excessive butter, and frying stuff over grilling, baking or broiling (some dishes.

We had an enjoyable experience the last time we ate here. The menu is rather large and there seems to be something for everyone. The one thing that turned me off slightly, was that it smelled rather strongly of whatever fish of the day it was as soon as we walked in. However, the hostess is usually friendly, we have never had to wait for a table and we always like the food. The baked brie and meatloaf sandwich are especially good. The waitress talked me into getting a cappuccino instead of a regular cup of coffee which I also really liked. The prices are slightly higher than other restaurants in the area but the quality is better and the types of food they serve are unique and delicious- so I consider them worth the price. We went for dinner on a Sunday evening and for 2 people it cost us about $50.

Great service, great food. Have been coming here for years and always enjoy the consistent and tasty food. Nice ambiance. Good wine menu to compliment food. I have not had a bad meal here yet and I am sure this will continue. Nice place to take family on a weekday or for a special occasion.

I had heard a lot about this restaurant from locals and took a very precious friend here last night to "TREAT" her. Embarrassing. I don't know how they charge what they charge. All food, and I mean every dish, was overcooked. My friends didn't mind because it seems they are used to it, but fish should be moist inside and barely flaky with a steamy center...not breaking off on the fork like canned tuna. My partner ordered the filet salad medium and it was like jerky. Gladly, she doesn't ever mind a well cooked piece of meat and she dealt with it. For $160, we did not get a well-cooked meal. If Trio is going to charge these prices, they need a cooking staff that understand temp times, searing and presentation.

I live in Blue Ash and have been to Trio many times and have always been pleased with the food and service...until last night. The place was very busy and clearly they wanted us in/out as fast as possible. I ordered the french onion soup, and that arrived in a few minutes. Obviously, it was pre-prepared and reheated or microwaved. The waitress was trying to take away my soup with still half a bowl left. I'm a fast eater, but we hadn't nearly finished our soup/salad before the waiter delivered our entrees. We asked him to take them back until we'd finished our appetizers. I ordered a 6oz filet and it arrived completely dried out. No doubt not helped by leaving it under the heating lamp while we finished our appetizers. If I'm paying $32 for a small steak and a lump of mash potatoes, at least I expect it to be cooked fresh. We were at Trio at the busiest time of the evening and there must have been at least 100 people seated, so it would have been impossible to get our food that quick if it was cooked fresh. I've waited longer in McDonald's!

The restaurant is lovely decorated to give a private, romantic, more adult feel. There is a good ratio of booth to table seating available. I personally am the No. 1 fan of booths.. nothing like comfort as I indulge in tasty morsels. We tried the pecan crusted goat cheese and balsamic salad - 4 of 5. The dish was very tasty, but i was disappointed to not really taste the pecan influence over the goat cheese : ( ! As entrees we had the Lobster special ~ 1.5lbs with red skin potatoes. The potatoes were super delish but the lobster was a little chewy. Overall not bad for not living off the coast :D Sides - French Onion soup: was good once my taste buds got over the initial shock that it does not taste like the Soupe à l'Oignon I had in Paris or Lyon, France. The Brandy + (?)give it a very sweet, almost tomato-like taste - which was a shock to me. Also, it was made with provolone and not Gruyère. I guess it would have helped to prepare myself had the menu stated - Trio specialty rendition or the like...because the ingredient change aside, I did enjoy the soup very much; I just had to look past the differences :D!

We made a last-minute decision on Saturday evening, after volunteering at the Glendale Wine, Beer and Food Festival, to try for a table at Trio. Based on the number of cars in the parking lot, I didn't hold much hope for anything less than a 45-minute wait. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when we were seated immediately in a comfortable booth next to a window. I asked our server if this was typical, and she said that while reservations are recommended, especially for large parties and special seating requests, most of the time the wait is no longer than 20 minutes. Now the food: I decided to go light, having caprese salad for dinner, and fresh berries with cream for dessert. Both were outstanding. The tomatoes were summer-perfect....red, ripe and full of flavor, and the aged balsalmic was delicious. This was a good choice after a long day in the heat. The berries and cream were also devine; the portion size was generous and the cream was light and fresh. This is a great place with a diverse menu and friendly, knowledgeable staff.

I'm a long-time fan of Trio, but it's become too pricy for the quality. I spent $12 for a Caesar salad that wasn't as good as the $5 one at Strong's in Newport, plus a mac and cheese "small plate" priced at $8 that was gummy and not nearly as good as the $4 side dish at Longhorn. The small filet and mashed potatoes my husband had were fine, but also way overpriced. Service continues to be top notch, but given the price hikes I don't expect to return. It's upscale casual ut with fine dining prices now.

Trio is located on the side of a strip mall, across the street from the Kenwood Towne Center. After walking past the front podium replete with requisite buxom blonde hostesses, you'll find two separate dining rooms connected by a full service bar. The bar is circular with two 32" LCD flat screens mounted to the wall. There are 5 small tables in the bar and plenty of room for an after-work gathering. But enough of the décor, you want to hear about the food! If you follow my food reviews, you know I fancy myself a bit of a wedge salad gourmand. When I saw the wedge on Trio's menu, I knew it would be my first course. The lettuce was adorned with sliced cheery tomatoes, chunks of delicious maytag bleu cheese and crumbled bacon with a drizzle of balsamic syrup and served with a thin, flat parmesan crouton. My search is over! I've found Cincinnati's best wedge!! You'd think it would be hard to get this excited about a hunk of iceberg lettuce, but Chef Mark Boor has done what so many others have failed with executing. After the exciting start, I was please to move onto the entrée. I ordered Trio's signature fish dish: Gulf Coats Grouper "Hemingway" prepared in an herbed panko crust and pan-fried with a lumb-crab-lemon caper buerre blanc, served with rice and grilled asparagus. The fish was perfectly cooked and the buerre blanc sauce with crab meat was a good pairing. I was quite pleased with the entrée. For dessert, I selected the key lime pie. The pie came with a baked meringue topping. The filling had a thick yet somewhat liquid consistency with a distinct lime flavor. The meringue was light and flavorful. Another success! Thumbs up to Trio, well worth the trip up to Kenwood!

My husband and I dined here on Valentine's day with my parents and it was a great experience. The decor is tasteful and somewhat contemporary in style. The room we were in was at the back and features a huge, floor to ceiling mirror which creates the illusion of a bigger space so that was nice. The tables were not crowing on one another or anything. The waiting area is a little small. We had a reservation so we didn't have to wait for a table. Our server was great - she had a personality! I feel weird pointing this out but, honestly, most of the time servers around here are just doing their job and don't seem to have much extra flair but our server was witty, knowledgable and nice. My mom and I both ordered the Trio Meatloaf and had starter house salads. My dad had a pizza with pepperoni and sausage and my husband had the Mexican pizza. My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed the meatloaf - it was topped with crispy onions and sat on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. But maybe what was even better than the meatloaf itself was the caramelized brussel sprouts and carrots that accompanied it - so GOOD!! The house salads were also delicious - the dressing was a vinaigrette that I can't remember the name of but it made all the difference. The salad is chopped, too, so no corralling huge pieces of romaine. My husband and dad both loved their pizzas. The crust was just the right thickness, there was a great sauce amount - not too much, not too little - and the pizza was not greasy or anything. Our server let us know they can actually build any pizza you'd like with whatever they have in the kitchen, so you aren't limited by the choices on the menu. For dessert, my husband and I shared the banana cream pie, my dad had the raspberry cheesecake and my mom also had a banana cream pie. The cream pie is definitely big enough to share - it's not a slice of pie, but a miniature pie. It is amazing and probably the best banana cream pie I've had ever. The raspberry cheesecake could also be shared - it was a huge slice and so creamy and delicious! I also have to mention that they have caffeine-free iced tea available which is virtually unheard of around here. For the price, I think the portions and experience are just right. And even if you're on a budget, two people could each get their own pizza and enjoy a non-alcoholic drink for under $30. Definitely give Trio a try - it would be a great date night or treat for a special occasion!

Trio is the place you go when you're splurging on a nice meal. The service is always good. You never have to ask for anything. The food is always amazing, and this place does it right. My favorite server is Brendan. Ask for him, he will take good care of you. The meatloaf is awesome. Any of the fish dishes will melt in your mouth (the swordfish special tonight was ahhhmazing), salads, onion soup, and the mac n cheese are good sides. They even make brussel sprouts taste good. You get what you pay for, most of the time. In this case, Trio is worth the money.

Trio has to be one of the best neighborhood staples. Having grown up in the Kenwood area I have to say it's a must for family and friends. During my most recent visit, and possibly one of my last after moving out of state, I ordered some of my favorites: the barbecue chicken pizza, side Greek salad, a French Martini, and the banana cream pie for dessert. The pizza is a must - sweet, tangy, smokey and delicious. I'm pretty sure it's also wood-fired. The Greek salad is the same as every other Greek salad but it's one that has made me like black olives - just a little bit. The French Martini is something I sometimes have difficulty finding, at least someone that can make it right, but boy did they. A splash of champagne on top was an enjoyable surprise. And last was the banana cream pie; gram-cracker crust fresh bananas topped with brûlée'd white chocolate shavings - YUM.

The food and staff were outstanding. Will come back here next time I am in town. I had the Sea Bass which was melt in your mouth yummy. The other person had the meatloaf and reported equal result.

We lucked in to finding this place on a recommendation from our hotel. Wish we lived nearby, because we'd become regulars. It's upscale, yet casual. The menu is diverse, but not so gourmet we didn't know what we were getting. We got the special and it was outstanding....what a great melding of flavors. Beth took such good care of us in the bar area, and made good recommendations. Their house salad dressing is so good you'll want to take some home. We saw so many things on the menu we want to try, so we'll have to make a return trip soon! Locally and family owned...a great place to support!

In the midst of celebrating our first Christmas on our own, my wife and I decided to celebrate Christmas eve with a nice dinner and a movie. If you have read my previous reviews, you will know that I am a big fan of the Kenwood Movie Theatre, so that's where we were headed for the flick. Where to eat? ...well, we decided to hit up Trio. We have heard decent things about the restaurant and it is conveniently located in relation to the Kenwood theatre. They were full with reservations, so we ponied up to the bar. The bartenders were funny and friendly (especially the brother and sister that both work at the bar at Trio - really funny to see that dichotomy play out behind the bar! :-) Anyway, their happy hour (which we caught the end of) was pretty good - half off draft beers and $5 glasses of wine. I had asked for the driest of the $5 dollar glasses and the bartender delivered; pretty good for a "house" merlot. I ordered that to get it at the happy hour price, but saved it for dinner. In the meantime, I ordered a glass of the new Glen Livet Cask Strength; a deliciously strong scotch. It came attached with a $14 price tag, but it was Christmas, so I figured, "what the hell!?" Anyway, scotch ordered at a restaurant (at least, decent scotch) is never cheap. My wife had the seafood pasta and I had the filet mignon. Her pasta was filled with delicious seafood, including large scallops in a quite tasty sauce. My filet was cooked perfectly (for me, medium rare). The sides, bread, etc that accompanied our meals were equally delicious. All in all, Trio is a decent place to have dinner if you don't mind the higher end price tag; if you're getting dinner and drinks, you're not getting out of there for under $60 - $80 for two people. Check it out.

Came here for Sunday Brunch. If you want brunch food, there's no a la carte option you have to opt for the buffet. The buffet line was long but "moves fast." I guess, the word fast is relative, I didn't find them that speedy. The wait is for the omelettes made to order. The omelettes were ok, but I could easily do the same thing at home. Pretty boring assortment of rest of the buffet items, the baked goods were pretty dull and underwhelming to get in an upscale restaurant. Not worth it, if you want brunch food, go elsewhere.

My mom and I wanted somewhere to go after a long day of shopping at Kenwood last Sunday. I'm not too familiar with the Kenwood area, so I whipped out my fancy Yelp app, and we agreed on Trio. Trio is a classy American restaurant, and the menu was filled with fancy pork chops and steaks, and a small amount of pastas and salads. My mom ordered the goat cheese crusted pecan salad and Mediterranean flat bread and I ordered the mushroom ravioli. It seemed like most of the salads came complimentary with an entree. I opted for the Caesar salad. It was very good and not overdressed, which is one of my pet peeves. It was however, very large. The ravioli was good as well, but by the time I had finished my salad, I could only eat a couple of bites. I especially liked the combination of mushrooms, yellow tomatoes, and herbs on top. My mom's goat cheese salad: also HUGE! She had no room for her flat bread once it arrived. The couple of bites I had as leftovers though were very good! I liked the greens on top- they were a nice change of texture. Our waitress- not so great. She didn't even stop by to see how our salads were, and seemed too busy to take care of the of us the rest of the time. My mom and I seemed to be a bit younger than most people in the restaurant- lots of canes and scooters. It does seem like a perfect place to take your parents or meet the parents! Although the food is very American and does not seem too "adventurous" I would love to come back again- I'll just make sure to save up first!

My husband and I stumbled into this seemingly quaint restaurant at around 5 pm Christmas Eve. We were sat right away (even though we made no reservations) and were greeted by a very nice, well-knowledgable waitress. While we certainly had a slight wait for our food, it was definitely worth it! We ordered the calamari to start. The wasabi and horse-radish sauce was addicting. It had a slight sweet-n-sour taste to it, which I loved. For my entree, I ordered the pancetta flat bread (only $10) and my husband ordered a pasta dish with artichokes and asparagus (a slight bit pricer at $23). Both were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. I particularly enjoyed their daring experimentation with melon and lettuce on pizza! It was a delicious experience with food.

Had to wait about 15min. To be seated when there were plenty of tables open. Food is to expensive for what you get. This place is not my cup of tea. If you like over priced and artsy fartsy food this is for you.

Trio time's a charm!!! They have EXCELLENT food. My favorites are the crab cake sandwich, chicken salad sandwich and basically all the pizzas/flatbreads! I have never had bad food or service at Trio. The atmosphere is nice. It's modern and open with plenty of seating, but it's very loud. WHAT? It's very loud. WHAT? IT'S VERY LOUD!

Drove up to Trio after having experienced the ridiculousness of the duck boats in Newport. I'm just saying, make sure you have nieces, nephews, or some form of small human with you. There were maybe three other tables with patrons sitting on them. Did you know that the day before July 4th is the slowest day of the year for restaurants? Well, it is. Almost ordered the meatloaf, but cant order the same thing that someone else does because of some weird rule of mine. It was said to be very good and a taste confirmed it. I was raised as a child to believe that pork and shellfish are unclean meat and thus a sin. Keeping this in mind I spotted my own personal Broodwich on the menu. video clip link below. start at 4:24 in case you have other things to do. metacafe.com/watch/85341… It may quite possibly be the epitome of evil in a sandwich. A crabcake sandwich with bacon. I ordered it. I ate it. It was very tasty. I'm still alive. The waiter was probably one best waiters I've ever experienced. very friendly and helpful. They had Arnold Palmer's on the drink menu. I was in my own personal heaven, for now.

Trio was good, I think it's just not my scene. And for me to give a place 4 stars, I have to want to go back. We had a $100 gift card as a present from my fiance's brother, so we decided to celebrate our anniversary with a nice dinner out. We made our reservations early in the week (very cool to do it via the website) so we had all week to look forward to it. I wasn't a fan of where they sat us: up front next to the windows. In a darkened restaurant, it gets annoying having headlights shine in your face every few minutes when cars pull in and out of parking spaces. What I did appreciate was that they gave us ample time to enjoy each course before bringing out the next one. We got the pecan crusted goat cheese appetizer, which was awesome. I ate too much of that and then the New England Clam Chowder that I couldn't fully enjoy my entree. The Shrimp Primavera was a bit rich for me, taste-wise. I only ate half and boxed up the rest, but it might be one of those leftovers that inhabit the fridge until the next cleaning-out (shh, don't tell my fiance or his brother). I appreciated the fine dining experience, but was a little out of my element. I just kept thinking how uncomfortable the servers' uniforms looked.

This was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. I love shopping across the street at Kenwood Towne Center and then hopping over for a nice meal whether it be dinner or lunch. The staff, food and ambiance are all wonderful! I can't remember what I ordered, but next time, I'll be sure and post specifics and photos.

Always excellent food. We were there a couple of days before new years and it was busier than I had ever seen it. It was, however, the first time the server wasn't great. Regardless it's still one of my favorites in the area.

Described with a trio of letters: Y-U-M! I came to Trio for a late lunch, and this place was still packed! With people queuing out the front door, you know a restaurant must be good. The spacious restaurant has ample seating, and is so popular it even has an overflow parking lot across the street. After a 15-minute wait, we were seated. The menu was vast: so much to choose from! My dining companions recommended the fish, as that is what Trio is known for. In fact, the daily special (which was Tilapia) was already sold out at 1:00. So yes, order the seafood here. They also raved about the gourmet salads. To start, we had deviled eggs garnished with with caramelized bacon. Divine! I never pass on a good deviled egg. For my main, I went with the fish tacos, which were made from three kinds of fresh fish wrapped in tortilla shells. Garnished with lettuce, pico de gallo, and fresco cheese, the tacos were savory and just the right portion size. It also came with a side of ginger rice, which was fluffy and delicious. The ladies ordered the Trio Salad (bibb & spinach, chicken, cranberries, red onion, romas, pine nuts, goat cheese, honey poppyseed dressing) and the pan seared salmon. The salad was massive and filled with a colorful array of ingredients. Upon delivery, the scent of the salmon dish made me know what I was going to order on my next trip to Trio. For dessert, I had the creme brulee, garnished with fresh berries. Also delicious! I'm convinced everything here is good. In addition, our server was very attentive, refilling our drinks, promptly bringing out food and clearing away plates. Regardless of the crowd, Trio provided an excellent dining experience. In summary, three words: I'll be back! Cost per person: $20-$25 Reservations Recommended

Went in for lunch and the service was fast for a slightly formal sit down. The menu looked pretty good as there were quite a bit of options. I got the chicken curry soup which was pretty flavorful and the trio salad. The salad was pretty big and didn't need to eat it all. I would go back but kind of expensive for lunch even though I think you get what you pay for. Nice place and near the mall.

We have been long time Trio customers, have been going there for years and have been there hundreds of times. After reading one of these posted reviews, I was prompted to respond. In a review, they stated that the decor is "shabby". and indicated it should be updated. Folk's decor at Trio is remarkable, well done, tasteful, and comfortable. As far as a "cold" salad plate...UHHH, they serve them on cold plates and NOT warm plates, and never, I repeat never have I had a salad that was pre-made, didn't happen, never will. Regarding the overall quality...I can count on one hand the number of times I have had to send something back, but I would have fingers to spare...5 to be exact...well, I am counting my thumb. To Greg, Brett and the crew...KEEP it UP!

I'm shocked I haven't written a review for this restaurant yet since it's one of my favorites in Cincinnati. Classy, great service, and amazing food at a fair price (it does cost more, but you get what you pay for and I think you get a lot here). The food quality is just so high - I've had dinner and lunch here. This review will focus on the lunch which was the Tuscan grilled chicken sandwich and Atlantic Cod sandwich (my husband and I like to get 2 meals and share). Yes, the sandwich is about twice the price of what you'd get at another restaurant, but it is so much better quality with fresh and amazing flavor. The chicken sandwich came with 2 grilled breasts, and I loved the sauce on it and the foccaccio (sp?) bread. I swapped out the fries for a side salad and was a big fan of their lemon vinaigrette dressing too. The cod sandwich was even better than the chicken sandwich, and I ended up sticking with that sandwich at the end. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Good place! It was recommended to me by a few friends. Went with my boyfriend for our anniversary, and it's a good setting for a date. Got a flat bread that had crab and shrimp and avocado goodness (can't remember what it was called), and a side of mashed potatoes. Boyfriend got crab cakes and they were great as well. Would return.

Trio is a nice restaurant nestled in the Kenwood Mall area that is independently owned and not part of a chain. What surprised me about Trio is, while a classy joint, an average person could still make sense of the menu items. I find sometimes that when a restaurant tries to go upscale, they start using ingredients and names that the average person wouldn't be familiar with. I enjoyed my meal, and I thought the service was great. Not too much, not too little. I was at Trio with co-workers for a team dinner. We had a nice opportunity to socialize without having to yell over a lot of sound, and the booth we were seated at had plenty of space for us (even though I'm a big man). I would definitely take friends, family, and co-workers to Trio. I really like the restaurant.

It is 11:45. Josh and I are 15 minutes early for meeting his parents for nice lunch. His mother tells us to order some booze. Shit. 15 minutes later with no breakfast in my belly, I am nicely buzzed. Of course when the waiter comes around, I have forgotten to look at the menu. Stay cool, Anne. Order what you know. The seared tuna app looks good, go for that. And it was good. I practically licked the wasabi creme fraiche off the plate. It's rare that I am able to distinguish actual good food from KFC when I am wasted. So kudos, Trio.

Trio is a favorite for us. We visit for special family occasions, or I'll meet friends for a girls' lunch. The menu offers something for everyone's tastes. The quality of the food and service have been very consistently good. It's a popular restaurant, so it's worth taking the time to make a reservation so you're not disappointed. Bring your wallet.

Great food. Wonderful Menu. Beautiful restaurant. Energy (without being too loud). Professionals who know how to serve, make a drink, and prepare food very very well. Great hosts. OK - the menu is well done - with a great selection from sandwiches to meals to apps... great gourmet pizzas and flat bread. Their salads are a big stand out and always a favorite (and this is coming from a meat-loving hungry man.) The staff REALLY knows what they are doing. Sharp. The restaurant itself is nice... great ambience. High end without being arrogant. The owner is ever present without bothering anybody. I always see people I know when I'm there... Hugely popular with the locals. People who know great spots to eat in Cincinnati - eat at TRIOS. OH - plenty of free parking next door in their lot and across the street. Right across the street from Nordstroms / Kenwood Towne Center. SUPER EZ access to I-71 North and South. This is the kind of excellent experience that you expect from a top local (non-chain) restaurant. Always a good experience. GO.

Personally I think this place is too expensive but friends and family drag me here often as it's a convenient spot for the home crowd (especially when Mama is paying!). They serve my favorite white wine-- Conundrum-- and the food is pretty great. I love their lasagna. I think last time I was here I got the smoked salmon pizza and it was really really good! I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely a convenient nice dinner in the Kenwood area-- I wish there were more good restaurant choices in this area but Trio is a good standby.

Last night my family and I ate at Trio's restaurant. My wife & I used to come here quite often. In fact, we had our day after wedding brunch at Trio's. We haven't eaten here in a while but were looking forward to the evening. We sat in the patio area but there was a strong sun shining right into our eyes. We asked the waiter to lower the shades outside the window. He did as asked but the shades were raised minutes later. I asked again for the shade to be lowered since the sun was hurting my eyes. They did as I asked. I asked a waiter who it was the manager who kept raising the shade. He said that the owner wanted to keep the shades raised. I jokingly told him to ask the owner to see me before he tried to raise the shade again. A few minutes later, the sun was in my eyes again as the shade was raised once more. This was the 5th time that the owner raised the shade and the direct sunlight hitting my eyes gave me a pounding headache and caused me to see spots in front of my eyes. I got angry and stormed into the bar area to ask why they couldn't leave the shade in the lowered position. The waiters and hostess apologized and lowered the shade again but the damage had been done. I left the restaurant with a throbbing headache and vowing never to eat at Trio's again. The food was ok, as always, a bit safe and on the bland side but that is not enough in today's competitive environment. The change that I've see in customer service from this place is very disturbing, especially when it is coming from the manager, not the staff.

Slightly expensive but delicious food and cool atmosphere more than make up for the damage to your wallet. I visited Trio with my grandma over the busy Christmas season. We had made a reservation for lunch (definitely necessary throughout the entire year; this place always draws a crowd) after shopping all morning at the Kenwood mall and were seated within five minutes of arriving. I was looking for something light to combat all of the cookies and festive desserts I had been eating over the previous week, so I chose the Trio Salad. This salad made me incredibly happy because it combined all of my favorite salad ingredients into one: Marinated grilled chicken topped buttery Bibb lettuce sprinkled with cranberries, goat cheese, tomato, and pine nuts. Everything came together nicely with a slightly sweet Poppyseed dressing (a rare dressing find in Cincinnati, for some reason, but one of my all time favorites). I hardly got through eating half the salad before I was pleasantly full, and I felt gloriously healthy because all of the ingredients were fresh and crispy, even in the middle of a chilly December. My grandma ordered her long-standing favorite at the restaurant, the grilled salmon salad. Hers came topped with a beautifully cooked six ounces of salmon and feta cheese with crispy onion straws; I would have had order envy if my own salad hadn't been so delicious. Trio's interior is surprisingly modern as the establishment has been around for more than twenty years. We sat in a comfortable booth which afforded us some quiet; the restaurant was pretty loud with the lunchtime rush. Our server was efficient and sociable, despite having at least six other tables of hungry diners under his watch. Both of our salads were between 14-17 dollars, but they were so wonderful that the price was pretty forgettable. Trio's dinner menu is significantly more expensive than their lunch menu but I've heard such great things about the sea bass that I'm going to have to suck it up and spend the cash to visit one evening. One more note: When Trio is crowded parking can be a problem. They do have a private lot but it isn't big enough to accommodate a full house crowd, there is parking across the street, though!

Trio is a traditional American style bistro. With both comfort food and some innovative dishes, its a perfect place for everyone to enjoy. The Cajun Chicken Penne with a lite cream sauce was very good. My wife, mother-in-law and my wife's friend all ordered pizza's. The pizzas are both traditional and some nouveau riche ones. Their Pizzas include Mexican, Margherita, apple and Thai among others. I hadn't been here in a couple of years and definitely want to return during my next trip to the queen city.

This is the local "special occasion" restaurant for my family. The food is really good and the service is great. Pretty decent beer selection but they are really known for their wine selection. Its expensive comfort food really, but they have really good steaks if you like steaks. To be honest, I like their pizzas. I know I can get the same flavors cheaper elsewhere but when I am there with family its what I get. Because I can never go there on my own due to cost (I am college kid for buddha's sake). If you like steak and want to go to a upscale local restaurant that does not begin with Jean-Robert or specializes in ribs and heart attacks (Montgomery Inn).

This place is pretty great for business dinners. Went here with a group of about ten or so people that all showed up at various times and the waitstaff handled it pretty well. We ended up just ordering appetizers for the whole table but due to the size of the table and the size of the appetizers (they were pretty big) they didn't really get eaten because people were being too polite. They were also pretty messy but that's fine. Can we go back to the waitstaff? They were totally champs. I had a little bit of a cold and was exhausted and wanted a little booze. So they made me a green tea with brandy and lemon and honey. Nice little concoction...wasn't the best tasting thing in the whole wide world and wine would have been better but it sure did the trick! Everyone enjoyed their food and dessert and at the end I got some port so that took care of my wino needs in a fun little way. I should mention that we got one of the private meeting rooms and IT services were pretty good. They only had a minor ten minute or so setback when they couldn't get the laptop hooked up. But they fixed it before anyone really showed up so no harm, no foul. All in, I'd recommend this for a place to go when you want to impress people by spending some $$ but I wouldn't necessarily call it my favorite place ever.

Last night was the first time I had been here. I had the Sea Bass and it was very good. It was not Chilean mind you and a little pricey at $29 but it was presented on top of thinly sliced mixed vegetables and rice. My wife and a friend has Lemon Chicken that they enjoyed tremendously. Great salad selection, various menu options in a contemporary atmosphere. It is said that the owners of the city of Cincinnati (basically) the Lindner's dine here frequently.
