Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

This establishment has been has been in the same location for the last forty years. The owner is a Greek gentleman. The Gyro's are awesome. the meat is nicely spiced. The greek fries compliment the meal. It's not fancy. You are treated like a guest and that is nice in this day and age. Good food and great prices.

I have been eating Sebastian's for almost my entire lifetime.... and those years are beginning to add up. Sebastian's hasn't changed one bit in all that time. Always a homey family feel with good quality food. I really can only recommend a small portion of the menu, because why would you go here and not order the gyro meat. I like that you can order the meat only and aren't forced to get the sandwich. Of all the Mediterranean restaurants I have ever gone to, they have the best gyro meat. The Greek fries are always served burn-your-mouth hot and liberally covered in seasoning salt. The restaurant itself is nothing spectacular to look at. You push your way thought a crowded seating area to order at the counter. Find yourself a seat at a rickety table. And wait for your little piece of Greek heaven to arrive at your table. This is fast food Mediterranean at its best! Prices are very reasonable as well, though if you order the meat and not the sandwich be prepared for it to be a little pricey, but a good portion. Run, don't walk, to the West Side to try this institution out.

My husband is half Greek, so we went here for his birthday lunch (we had only previously had takeout). The cashier seemed impressed that hubby has a nice pronunciation of "gyro", LOL! Our picky five year old was with us, so we ordered two gyros and fries, along with drinks. We also ordered two spanikopita, which had a wide variability of quality in Cincinnati. We were given an extra order of gyro meat for my daughter, which was really a nice thing you get from a locally owned family run place (of course, she pronounced: "you know I don't eat meat!", as appalling this might be a to a Greek mother, but her father ate it all up) My daughter LOVED the spanikopita (a cheese and spinach pastry with phillo dough)! She never ever tries things like this. I was amazed that she would eat it! Of course we truly enjoyed the gyros and the rest of the meal. The only other time you would get such a meal is at the Panegyri festival in Cincy at St. Nicholas on Winston Road. If you want a good gyro, either wait for the festival or go HERE!

I'm Polish by heritage but I sometimes I feel like I ought to be Greek. Man, I love gyros. As far as I'm concerned, Sebastians has the best in town and some of the best I've had anywhere. Like reviewer Gigi F. wrote, tons of meat, tomatoes and wonderful tzatziki sauce. The "Greek" fries are just regular fries with some Greek seasoning sprinkled on, but they're prepared perfectly: golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender and moist in the center. This is what a Greek diner is supposed to be like.
(5)Sheri A.
Best Gyro in Cincinnati hands down and the baklava is awesome too. It's a cash only establishment so be sure to stop by the nearest ATM on your way.
(5)Stephen P.
My local favorite and weekly fix. Great tasting and authentic Greek restaurant. Worth visiting even if your not around the west suburbs.
(5)Joel B.
I've heard such great things about Sebastian's I was excited to try it a few weeks ago when I was Westside. I don't really get the hype? I mean, the food wasn't bad, but certainly not better than any other gyro place in the city. The greek salad with gyro was too small for me, while the tzitki sauce lacked flavor (other than creaminess), and the pita bread tasted the same as you'd get at any decent grocery store. Other than the fact this place is cash only, what sets it apart?
(3)Autumn E.
Really good gyros, quick, cheap, amazing baklava, friendly service. The owner is such a cute little old man. I loved it.
(5)Justin W.
No matter how you pronounce gyro, this is the best place to get one on the West side. It's a small, cash only place -- but they did put an ATM in the restaurant which is nice. The food is awesome, the price is spot on and the people are great too. Very glad to see Sebastian's up, running and successful after all these years. Go try it!
(5)Gwen B.
We ordered takeout from Sebastian's while in Cincinnati, my in-laws are regulars here apparently. I ordered a large Greek gyro salad and my husband got a gyro. Those were the only two items that everyone in our party ordered. The large Greek gyro salad was delicious and a good sized portion. I think the small size would've been a little too small for me even though I had some leftovers with the large. The salad came with a decent amount of meat and a warm piece of pita bread. The gyro was a normal sized gyro which everyone enjoyed. They gave us a cup full of tzatziki sauce which was a nice addition to the light balsamic dressing on the salad. We liked Sebastian's a lot and will certainly be returning for more!
(4)Dale H.
First place I ever had a gyro and still the best I have had so far ! Just wish I lived closer.
(4)Brian C.
Best place for an awesome inexpensive meal! The staff is incredible and the owner/ operator Alex is a throwback to a time this world needs! This place warms my heart and makes my belly feel great!

Having grown up with an aunt who married into a Greek family, my standards for Greek food have always been high to say the least. Sebastian's is a place my boyfriend introduced me to in college that I wish I could frequent more often! Sebastian's is definitely a divey kind of place but don't let the looks deceive you. It's a family run business and from the moment you walk in, you get that feeling you get when you're returning home after a long time away. You'll catch the owner there from time to time but mostly now you'll get to meet his family. The gyros at this place are unreal! I seriously would order more than one except the portions are so generous that finishing one is sometimes a challenge. The spanakopita is a must try! It's always been one of my favorite Greek dishes and eating this takes me right back to eating at my aunts house. This place is a must try if you're looking for top notch Greek food in the Queen City!

Sebastian's is an awesome establishment. I recently came here starving and thirsty after a few intense rounds of lazer tag at scallywag tag. We sat down at a booth and I ordered us gyros and water and at the counter. Less than five minutes later, our food and drinks were delivered to the table. The gyros were delicious and unpretentious; just a huge pile of gyro meat with some tomatoes and onions on top of a warmed pita bread with cold tzatziki sauce on the side. Even my picky 9-year-old brother downed his entire sandwich! My sister wasn't very hungry so I had planned to just share some of my gyro with her, but the owner had noticed that she didn't order anything. He decided to give her a generous portion of gyro meat and tzatziki sauce so she could try it too! I've never seen any restaurant do this, but I was very impressed with the kindness and attention to detail. Sebastian's has a small diner feel which I love. The service is definitely friendly and quick, and they were super accommodating to all of our requests. I forgot that they were cash-only but luckily they do have an ATM right by the entrance. If you're looking for a delicious gyro on the west side, just grab $7 and run to Sebastian's!
(5)Sherry T.
Sebastian's is a Price Hill staple. The place has been around forever and does not appear to have changed in it's many existing years. I would love to say the gyros are great, but the Greek place at Newport on the Levee serves better ones. I don't think the spanakopita is great either, despite the rave reviews. However, the tiropita is so good, it makes me feel like crying. The last time I went I ordered a second one to go and barely made it to the car before wolfing it down. It's really that amazing. Besides the tiropita, I love the atmosphere and service at Sebastian's. It's an old dump of a place and the folks who were there are very matter of fact, but at the same time it feels welcoming. Although I do not find myself in Price Hill often these days, I will stop by Sebastian's for the tiropita every time I'm in that neck of the woods.
(4)Carissa T.
100% hands down the best gyros in Cincinnati. And this is coming from someone who is Greek. Almost as good as grandpa's cooking! ;) Great staff as well. Just wish they took credit card :(
(5)Sean B.
Best gyro you can get in this area. It's authentic and the tzatziki sauce will have you begging for more. Remember to bring cash because you won't be using credit here, but it's worth the hassle for me when I need my gyro fix for the month!
(5)Julia C.
Great service, inexpensive, and one of the best Gyros I've ever had! My boyfriend and I each got a Gyro and a drink, plus baklava, for under $20. It's definitely more of a hole-in-the-wall small diner, but we both love finding little restaurants like that. We will be back sooner rather than later!

Let me start this out by pointing out a fact. I don't like lamb. I want to like lamb. Lamb is healthier than beef, so many people rave about it, but every time I try it, no matter how it is prepared, I dislike it. You may be thinking, if you dislike it so much why would you give Sebastain's 5 stars? Excellent question! First, let me start with a story. Not knowing the area and being hungry, we were looking for a place to lunch. The person we were with suggested Sebastian's. She claimed they had the best gyro's ever. Knowing that my husband is a huge fan of gyros, I decided to go along. One meal not to my liking wouldn't kill me. They both seemed so excited by this place how could my answer not be yes. It's not like I would be eating something I don't eat for dietary reasons. In we went. My husband knowing my dislike suggested a salad. They have a fairly limited menu. I decided to just go for the gyro. It is true what they say, stick to what you know. Sebastian's doesn't need a big menu, because they make the items they do offer so amazingly well. I would rather have a few amazing items that a mass of mediocre. Sebastian's is the first time in my whole life that I have been able to say "I like lamb!" Yep, I said it. I like lamb! This may be the only place I like it, but here I do. It was tender with great flavor. The pita around it accompanied it beautifully. The pita was strong enough to hold the meat while still being soft. The produce that topped the wrap was a nice balance. This is hands down the best gyro I have ever had. The fries we good too. We had a great meal. I look forward to going back. Note, they have limited parking in the back. Not sure if people shopping at other businesses use their lot or if it is shared, but it is fairly small. Also, it is small inside. Not ideal for large groups, but great for parties of 6 or less.
(5)Bill E.
Sebastian's has been a family favorite since I was growing up right down the street. We used to come here with my grandma and grandpa. My favorite is always a Gyro with all the fixings and a fry and for dessert bakavla. Alex is the owner and "Chef" and runs the restaurant with his wife Sue and his daughters. The restaurant usually is closed a few weeks during the year so he can go back to Greece and catch up with his family. If you haven't been yet, this is a must visit for anyone in Cincinnati. Just beware they only take Cash!
(5)Andy R.
I have eaten at Sebastian's for 30 years. Best Gyro in town! Period! If you are in the area, stop and get one. If you live on the west side, try not to eat there too much. It is delicious.
(5)Jason C.
Best Gyro in town!! Family owned business and you can feel it when you walk in the door. This place is cash only, so bring cash. The tzatziki sauce is amazing, it is thin so it flavors the whole Gyro.
(5)Chris G.
Sebastian's has been the "it place" to get Gyros for many years in Cincinnati. This was my third trip overall, but my first since 2006 or so. A small, divey family owned shop... Sebastian's is situated oddly on a corner of a main road through the West side of Cincinnati with limited parking in the back. Nearby are a couple small shops with limited hours which increase the parking slightly. This trip was made with a group of people, about ten (10) of us. Sebastian's is a small place which is CASH ONLY establishment so the line (and there's usually a line) moves along somewhat slowly with a sizable group. Not the best if you have a group larger than say six (6) people, but well worth the effort even if you do. I came prepared to share, so I snagged a nice sized table and when it was my turn to order I asked for the Gyro Dinner Plate with sides of Spanakopita, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Fries and Baklava (which I didn't share... it's MINE!) Most of my group also went with a Gyro or Gyro plate, but some did go for the grape leaves dinner. Either way, most all were satisfied, with only one feeling they could've had better elsewhere. Not bad for a group of ten. I was thoroughly impressed by my Gyro and the grape leaves. The Spanakopita didn't seem like the best effort was made to me. The Baklava was fantastic, but the fries were about average. Overall I'm glad I was able to bring my group here to a small family owned place with good food and plenty of personality. Though things were slow due to the size and layout of the restaurant, I don't feel it detracted too much. I'll certainly be back, and recommend you drop in as well.

Very cordial owner and chef and also nice server. The food is delicious, nothing fancy but simple as tasty fits the bill many times. We came in at around 3pm after a day at the museum. Got a nice meal of the dolmathakia dinner and a side of the Greek fries. My wife got the gyro and it was pretty good portion size. A good quick meal if you are in the area or if you get off the Anderson ferry and need a bite.
(4)Dawn B.
I love the Gyro here, the meat is so tender and fresh, it almost melts in your mouth. The tzatziki sauce could have been a little thicker on my latest visit, but the flavor was good regardless. The spanakopita is to die for here! Try some baklava for desert, you won't be disappointed. One of my favorites for lunch on the west side. Bring your cash, they don't accept plastic here.
(4)Charlie T.
I want to support a local business, but I will not be coming back. My order was not only wrong, but not very good. The cookie tasted old. And I sat there for at least 45 minutes with an empty cup. The spanakopita was okay.
(3)Toni S.
I was raised on Sebastian's. I've been eating there for 25 years. But the quality has gone way down. The gyro sauce tastes like water and you only get 4 slices of meat on the gyro and the prices are outrageous. I'd much rather make it myself.
(2)Lewis W.
Best gyro I've ever had -- tasty meat, fresh onions and tomatoes wrapped in a perfectly warmed pita. Top it with some tasty tzatziki and prepare for a delicious Greek treat. Sebastian's is a nice, clean little diner with pleasant service and parking out back. Hope I get back soon to try the baklava and other fine-looking pastries in the case by the cash register.
(5)Chuckie G.
Sebastian's is the bee's knees. First time I ever had a gyro, indeed probably 98% of the gyros I have had in life have come from here. And well... that isn't a bad thing.
(5)Doug M.
I've been coming here for well over 20 years and the only thing that's changed is the price. The meat almost melts in your mouth and the pita is light and crispy from being on the flat top. And I always try to save some space for a piece of baklava for dessert. Get an order of meat to go and I dare you not to eat it in the car on the way home.
(5)Ryan Z.
Hmm... so, I really wanted to love this place. In fact, I think I had already made my mind up that this was going to be a 5 star review when I saw that they cook their meat on the spit --- like it's supposed to be done. Buuuut... after eating the gyro, I had trouble even giving them three stars. The problem was the tzatziki. The gyro meat was delicious actually. The tzatziki, on the other hand, was bland and runny. It had the consistency of slightly spoiled milk with no traces of cucumber or anything else. This was my first time there, so I might have just had bad luck with their sauce today, but I'm not so sure that I'll be going back to give them another shot. Areti's gyros in Findlay market are a much safer bet. Oh well...
(2)Shariff J.
Aright, now this is pretty good. I'm not sure if anyone bothers to read my reviews, but I don't care because it's therapeutic after a few beers at 1:30 am and I'm gonna do it anyway. So , as I always say, I'm not from Cincinnati and most places suggested are severely over hyped. This place was not. My girlfriend and I were arguing so I got pissed off and left looking for something to eat. I heard about Sebastian's so I drove to the little hole in the wall on Glenway. It smelled good in there. That's always a good sign. Tip#1 bring cash. I had to go to the ATM across the street because that's what they take. I just got a Gyro because that's all I've heard about the joint and besides I couldn't pronounce have the damn menu items anyway. Tip#2 if you get a Gyro get extra, extra, extra sauce...and not because your a fat a$$. That sauce is GOOD! Simple ingredients, great food, and dirt cheap prices. I'm all in on this one.
(4)Kevin K.
This place is cash only, but well worth the hassle. The food here is awesome. Great flavor. Meat is cooked on a spit and shaved off, which is the only way to have gryo meat. The owner is super cool, the staff is friendly, and I recommend this place wholeheartedly.
(5)Amanda S.
Best gyro's and baklava around, and I always make the trip over to this side of town once in awhile to enjoy. Small portions, but I think because it's so good - you want more! Tzatziki sauce is very good, but is a little thin compared to other restaurants - agreeing with another poster.
(5)Alex S.
I can see why Sebastian's is appealing. It's quick, it's cheap, and it's pretty good. I was neither blown away nor too disappointed; it was simply down the line, middle of the road A-OK. As many people have pointed out, this is more of a gyro stand than a restaurant. You order at a counter and go, grab your food and bring it over to a booth. The gyro is about $5 and you'll have it in no time. It comes with no sides or drinks, so those are extras. They also only take cash, which is kind of annoying. And by kind of, I mean really. Still, the food was warm and tasty and obviously a recipe that's been passed down from generation to generation. And it was pretty good. Not the best gyro I've ever had, but delicious all the same This is a family run establishment, and that's true down to its core - the owners are family, the staff is family, everyone there knows each other like they are family. This is a place where they clearly get to know you if you come in time in and again. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here again, but if I was in the neighborhood and needed a quick gyro fix, I wouldn't be against going.
(3)Richele S.
Hands down one of the best establishments I have EVER been to. The authentic gyros are super delicious and are very generous portions. The cucumber sauce is yummy, too! Next time I'll have to order feta cheese on my gyro. I also would recommend the spanakopita as a side item. The light cheese flavor and spinach inside of the flaky pastry is so good. The inside is very small and they tend to get busy during lunch time. Alex and his employees are amazing! They're super friendly and you can tell that they truly care about their customers (repeat and new, alike). I can't wait to go back! Note: They are cash only.
(5)Jacquelynn A.
So I had never had a gyro before. Greek had just never sounded appealing to me and now I feel quite ashamed of myself as to have missed out on this delicious food my whole life. My friend ended up bringing me here for lunch and I had a run of the mill plain gyro with feta and from first bite I was hooked. I must say that I was not expecting such awesomeness on a pita but have since rescinded my view and shall be returning very very soon for some more. Oh and they are very friendly and its great service!
(5)Robin F.
Notoriously the best gyros on the west side. Ask any west sider who has the best gyros in the city, and they'll tell you Sebastians. I usually order the Greek Salad with meat, which includes a pita bread, with extra feta. Don't let the appearance of the place scare you. It has a run down diner appearance. Not a lot of indoor dining, and overall, and is dive-ish in appearance. I stick with carry-outs. Sebastian's food is five stars. Appearance and atmosphere is below-average...thus the carry-out recommendation. Price is right.
(4)Carla G.
So, I'm not Greek. But my cousins on my Dad's side have an aunt who is Greek. Growing up, "Aunt" Mel (short for Melpone) introduced us to the wonderful world of tasty Greek foods like baklava, soulvaki and gyros. I came to wish that I was Greek so I could eat like that all the time. Flash forward many years and I have a Greek student in one of my classes. After his demonstration speech on how to make keftedes (Greek meat balls), I asked him where he goes for Greek food in Cincinnati. Without hesitation, he said, "Sebastian's." Since then, I've been going to Sebastian's whenever I feel like my tzatziki levels are getting low. A small gyro (no tomatoes) is my usual order and I split an order of Greek fries with my husband. Sometimes, we skip the fries and get the spanakopita or tyropita instead. We're usually too full for dessert, but may get some baklava for later on. Is it a full service Greek restaurant? No. Is it the best Greek diner in Cincinnati? Damn straight.
(5)Todd S.
Great break from chain restaurants. Seems like one of those places you would see on Diners Drive Ins and Dives.
(4)Katrina H.
Hands down, the best gyros in the city!! Alex and his employees are nice, always. Bring cash!! No high chairs for kids- which stinks. But the place is tiny, so I don't blame them.
(5)Holly H.
Was excited to be in the vicinity to finally get to try the "best gyros in Cincinnati." Maybe my expectations were too high, but it was just pretty average. The meat was moist and pita soft and fresh but flavor was a just not great. I seriously make better Tzatziki at home so I think that's where they fell short. The Spanakopita was good for a fast food version and I'd definitely recommend it.
(3)Howard M.
Here's why I like Sebastian's. it's a good, quick, affordable, non-restaurant chain lunch on the westside. You're not going to see Greeks laughing or dancing or breaking plates here. By the register is an old picture of the owner. He's young, handsome and fit. He's dressed in a military uniform and has a look that says "I know 43 ways to kill you and I'm thinking of number 21 right now." Standing behind the counter carving meat off the cone, he still has that look. But...hand the cashier about $5 and you'll be holding a serviceable gyro within about 4 minutes of walking in the door. For lunch, that's often all I want.
(3)Scott R.
I have been going to Sebastian's for over 25 years... it is hands down the best Gyro in all of Greater Cincinnati. Even though it is small and can get very crowded at lunch it is worth the wait... I lived on the West Side for 29 years and then moved to NKY 10 years ago..... If I want a Gyro I make the drive over the river and do not settle for anything less!!!!!
(5)Reza L.
Best gyro in the city!!!
(5)Charlotte F.
Fabulous! This isn't the place for atmosphere, but the food is excellent, the staff is friendly, and it's inexpensive to boot!
(5)dale d.
Fantastic place for greek food, and the portions are abundant, contrary to the first review on this restaurant. The gyros have so much meat in them, they are exploding out of the pita and tin fold. The baklava is to die for. The prices are reasonable, and haven't gone up for years. I first started going to Sebastian's when I worked at Philipp's Swim Club as a teen, and always come back. Family-owned and operated for over 20 years, this place is a staple on the west side. Oh, and it is a Greek restaurant, the first reviews should look on the old-school menu, they have lots of greek food items. Must have: Gyro with a slice of baklava.
(4)Joe S.
Sebastian's is a great place to have a gyro. The place hasn't changed in years, and that's fine with me. It's all part of the comfort-food experience. Alex Sebastian opened the place 30 years ago and has a loyal following. Need ambiance? Look elsewhere. Want good food and a reasonable price? Go to Sebastian's.
(4)Sean B.
Let's call a spade a spade. This is not, as Cincinnati Magazine calls it, a Greek restaurant. It is a gyro stand plain and simple. This family run joint has been around for some time, and it's a quite popular takeout joint, but there's not much else here beyond gyros, baklava, and a simple Greek salad. The staff is friendly but not without a little attitude - after we ordered a salad, we asked if they had any olives or hummus. "You get olives with the salad, but we're Greek, not Lebanese. Hummus is Lebanese." An honest mistake on our part, but you have to make a pretty good gyro to help us recover from the ignorant and embarrassed feeling we were left with. Unfortunately, Sebastian's is just so-so. It's not great, but it's not awful either. Service was super quick, but portions are on the light side. Still searching for a great gyro in town, right now the most decent one I've found is Chicago Gyros is Clifton.
(2)Thomas R.
A great place for gyros. They have a limited menu, but who cares, you're not there for anything else besides the gyros, spanakopita, and baclava. Boy are they fast too!
(4)Theresa T.
I had read about this restaurant here on Yelp and put into my GPS on my cellphone. So when I had time while in Cincinnati I checked it out. And I'm happy I did. The food was great! I knew it was my kind of place the moment I walked in. There was a line and there was one girl taking the money and one man making the food. I happily waited in line for give my order. I got a small Greek Salad and Gyro. I got my salad when I paid at the counter and the gal told me she'd bring me my Gyro when it was done. I sat down among the regulars and ate me fresh and delicious salad. And then came my Gyro. It was outta sight. Hot, Fresh and made to order. I love the bread. Not that "pita wannabe" but real Arabic bread. I wanted another sandwich but I was too full. I still have their address in my phone and plane on going back.
(5)Gigi F.
Go to Sebastian's and experience the BEST GYRO you will ever have the pleasure of eating!! For 20 years, I've tried to find a better gyro, and it just DOES NOT EXIST!! Lots of meat, fresh tomato and onion, and the sauce is perfect. I always order extra sauce! The Greek fries have just the right kick, and I dip mine in the sauce too. Great baklava! The only reason my sister cried when she moved out of this neighborhood is because it takes her longer to drive to Sebastians! YUM!
(5)
