I enjoy a good steak and stop in a steakhouse whenever I travel within the U.S. It's natural for me to be drawn to locally managed steak joints like the venerable Jeff Ruby's here in Cincinnati. However, I enjoy the national chains also, and I had wonderful carnivorous dinners at Morton's, The Palm, Capitol Grill, Fleming's etc. This was my initial "stop in" at a Ruth Chris, and I was looking forward to my dinner. Located in Cincinnati's Bank's neighborhood, Ruth Chris is the only upscale option in this sport's fan's idea of heaven. The Bank's will soon connect the Red's ballpark to the Bengal's football stadium, and crowds of cheering fans fill the streets. The decor of this Ruth Chris is steakhouse generic, but there is nothing wrong with that, especially compared to the beer bong joints that line the street. However, everything went down after the initial observations. The service was amateurish everywhere. The bartender didn't engage, mixed up our order, and the drinks were expensive, without the panache to back up the prices. Our steaks were served with confusion, especially since I asked for my New York Strip "Pittsburgh style," extra charred on the outside. The kitchen had no idea what I meant, and I was compelled to send my steak back. It never came out right. My wife's Rib Steak was tasty, but small compared to what you get at most upscale steakhouses. The sides were bland and tasteless. We left Ruth Chris a fan of Morton's, Capital Grill, Fleming's and Jeff Ruby's. Ruth Chris is not in their league.

Came for my birthday and it was awesomeness! I made a reservation because it was super busy...walked right to my table! They had "happy birthday" confetti on the table and a card which was a nice touch. The food (very pricey) is ala carte and piping hot and amazing! The chicken is my favorite thing on the menu! They then brought out a complimentary dessert with "happy birthday" on it and a candle! I was so happy and it was truly a great birthday dinner. Not sure id come here on a regular basis simply because of the price but for special occasions, heck yea! The staff is so nice and very accommodating!

I'm always open to tying new steak houses in Cincinnati, however this one was quite off putting. We had undercooked veggies and the service was lacking.

I had a bit of a rocky start with Ruth's Chris in Cincinnati but they have steadily improved over the past year. Ruth's Chris offers sizzling steaks with family style sides. The steaks come out on a super hot plate with a pat of melted butter on top. At our most recent visit steaks were cooked to our desired levels of "doneness". Previously we had trouble with steaks coming out cooked more or less than desired; they were all right on at this last visit. Sides (broccoli, asparagus, creamed spinach, etc) were nothing to write home about but accompanied the steaks well. The steak is the star. Service is prompt and unintrusive. Ruth's Chris is a great place for a steak in Cincinnati.

It was a nice quick dinner at Ruth´s Chris Steak House during the weeknight. We took advantage of the Happy Hour menu. Due to Pearl Jam´s concert at the US Bank Arena, the place was packed and luckily we were given a regular table instead of the bar/lounge seating, yet we could still go Happy Hour! Judging from the previous Yelp reviews, the prices must have changed. Currently the Happy Hour is available between 4.30 and 6.30 PM and includes several full dishes (protein + fries) for 8 USD each, beer (4 USD) and some cocktails (I believe they were 10 USD). We had a Prime Burger with Fries and Steak Sandwich with Fries. It was a very good dinner as for 8 USD, that´s all I can say. It was not mind blowing, but given the price, nice interior and extremely polite and gracious service, it was great! I especially enjoyed the fries, crunchy and not oily! The burger bun was fried, which made it very crispy too. Well done!
