great neighborhood chili spot that I never would have found without my buddy who's a local. delicious chili with all the fixings you can imagine (or heap on a steaming bowl of chili). you can choose to dine at a both, the counter or the full service bar. a gem of a local joint that I'll be sure to visit whenever I'm in town - sorry skyline, I still love you...

I'm from Southwest Ohio, about 45 minutes from Cincinnati. I have family here so I'm familiar with Cincinnati chili. In our town I'm a regular at Gold Star Chili (worked there for 2 years) and have had Skyline a handful of times (*chills*). Camp Washington is my favorite Cincy chili joint, but I've been trying to try every famous Chili place. My brother talked this place up for a while so I figured it would be my next stop. It was really good, the meat wasn't watered down (that isn't a term, certain chili places, especially chains, put a garden hose in their chili kettle and pour water in it) and was very filling. The taste wasn't much there but it was still good.

As an Atlantan visiting Cincinnati for over 35 yrs to see wife's family and friends, I have made it my business to try all the chili's I can. Skyline is my "gold" standard so everything is measured against that, and I believe Price Hill surpasses my gold standard. A tad spicier than Skyline and might have been a slightly larger serving, I like it quite well. A little bit runnier, I'd ask for it "dry" next time, and I guarantee you, there will be a next time!

This was my first time trying Price Hill Chili after being urged by family and friends for decades. To help you decide if this place is for you I'll go from the time I entered until the time I finished my meal. The restaurant is located on a main road and is easy to find. Parking is accessible. Entering the restaurant you get the "old Cincy" feel. It's clean and pretty good on the eyes in terms of aesthetics. The waitress was extremely nice and timely with our beverage order. The food was hot and we ate approximately 10 mins after seating. The drink selection could use some improvement. I had a 4-Way chili which was awesome! My only critique, however, the chili taste similar to Skyline, but better. The chili is thicker, seasoned well, and hot. I would suggest they add a bit more spice (I like spicy food) to distinguish the two recipes (Skyline v PHC). I would recommend this place for lunch and early dinner. I plan on visiting PHC if I am in the area.

Quick service and friendly staff. The chili is fantastic and one of my favorite in town. I've gone for brunch a few times. Huge portions for cheap.

I don't venture to the West side much, so this was my first trip to Price Hill Chili. As some other reviewers mentioned, their prices did seem a little high. My first impression, was that it was dirty and loud, it was a Friday night though and there were a lot of kids. The chili was just O.K. It didn't blow me out of the water. They do serve breakfast all day too.

We recently went to a wedding in Cincinnati. We were blessed by our friend who was born and raised here to show us why Cincinnati is so bad ass. Price Hill is one of the best diners in America that I've been to. You can tell that this place has been added on, and added on, and added on again. Odd shape diner really, but it works. People love this place. It's definitely a local place to go to and it's a staple at that. Our waitress was overextended so we didn't get the best service but we didn't really mind because it was the last hour we were going to see our friends. The weekend I was in Cincinnati I was obsessed with Goetta. I learned the history of it and history of the city in general and I *putting on my nerd glasses* had to embrace all that this city had to offer. Our friend, Mike, told me that this is the top place for Goetta (since everyone makes it different). I ordered the Goetta and Egg and my husband ordered the double decker sandwhich. One look at his sandwich and I was glad we have life insurance. That was a heart attack waiting to happen! He made it almost through the whole sandwich. You create your own double decker sandwich, but anyway you make it, it is still huge!! If your stopping through or a local and never tried this place you have to come here for the goetta alone. It's something to Yelp about!

Great service, the restaurant is in need of a good cleaning and some general maintenance. Chili is OK at best, not nearly as good as other local parlors.
(3)Jonathan S.
I like Price Hill Chili for their food, but I have to give them 3 Stars for their prices. $1.75 for a side of cheese, $4.40 for just two eggs, hash browns, and toast. Seriously folks? There were even omelets over $7, and steak and eggs was $15. Its a shame Price Hill has so few diners. With the prices at Price Hill Chili, they should move across town and be renamed Indian Hill Chili instead.

I'm starting to wonder if this place suffers a bit from being overpraised by the folks that grew up on the west side. I really want to like this place, but I always leave feeling a bit, well, underwhelmed. Often touted as the best chili in Cincinnati, I've twice found the chili here even less interesting than that of Skyline. Though the spicy spuds are pretty good, I've routinely found it difficult to find something exciting on the menu. I've twice sat in the back room that is often reserved for large parties, and once on the porch. I have to say I really liked the porch. In the winter it is sunny and warm and gives a nice view of Price Hill's Garden. This place is certainly family friendly and you'll have no problem bringing kids along or dressing casually and watching some sports with your meal. The layout of this place is a hodgepodge labyrinth of mostly small rooms that have not been refurbished in 20-30 years, and not necessarily in the good way. I'm under the impression that Price Hill Chili has gone through multiple add-ons. Though the employees here are always as friendly as can be, they can be very slow moving too. Usually when I'm in a large group I'm too busy thinking about what everyone else is doing to be bothered by slow service, but I have certainly noticed it on at least three occasions here, which I think is the establishment of a trend. I even remember a time where I could see my drink sitting under the fountain for an extended period of time and was half tempted to get up, move around my group and pick it up for myself. Hopefully I'll have better experiences in the future.

I used to live near Price Hill Chili and sadly I only got to try it a few times before I moved away. I looked it up on Yelp one boring rainy day and realized I had a great place to try right in my own back yard. I thought it'd just be a little divey type place, which I love and I was right and wrong at the same time. When you walk in the front door by the street, it's a dive. If you go to the bathroom, then you realize this place is friggen huge!! It's like it gets nicer and nicer with each step that you take. Every time I go here I have to get the goetta because it's just amazing. I would drive 8 hours from NC just to go there and eat there goetta kind of amazing. I'm serious and I will punch you in the knee cap if you don't agree. Ok, not really because that'd mean I have to drive back 8 hours to punch you in the knee cap... But the selection of food is HUGE!! Not just your normal chili type of stuff here, it's like a smorgasbord of awesomeness and I've never tried anything that I didn't like here. The staff have all been pleasant and when I called last time to reserve a table for 15 they didn't even flinch. They were actually going to set up a table for us on the patio so we could hang out for awhile by ourselves, but it was pretty toasty outside. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for something new. It's a hidden Gem to those of us who grew up on the East and North sides of town and I'm glad I found it before I moved away. Go and try the GOETTA, and eat enough to cover my portion too please. I miss it very much.
(4)Joni S.
Food definitely depends on what time of day you go. We have been during dinner hours and then late night after a Red's game. 3 ways are good, burgers are ok. Bid portions and reasonably priced. Restaurant feels old and dingy, like a dive. Service is consistently ok.
(3)Nathan S.
Average to good food. I do like the chili! ...but I hate it when places like this serve things that they shouldn't, like a salmon dinner. I didn't order it (I knew better) but someone at my table did and it was a dry, greyish piece of salmon. Blech... Stick to the simple diner stuff.
(3)Tim E.
I've never been to one place and seen so many people I know. Great food, great people, great management.
(5)Tricia G.
Great old school atmosphere. It's a part of the community. The prices are great. Food is good, but not terrific. Service was okay.
(3)D Z.
Best Cincinnati Chili! Great for large groups and kids.
(5)Stacey L.
Another West Side institution! They kick you out of this side of town if they find out you haven't eaten here at least once. Price Hill Chili specializes in all things greasy! It is an amazing late night hangout to soak up too many drinks. It is also a great place for breakfast. I especially love their breakfasts!!!! GOETTA! They have the best. Expect a wait anytime normal people are awake, but the restaurant is huge and it the line moves fast. Service is always stellar. Try carry-out if you are in a super hurry. The restaurant itself is absolutely nothing special and most looks like it hasn't been updated in 20 year... but who cares! Food is cheap and delicious!

I am an Eastsider. But where the hell am I gonna get my goetta and cheese omelette in Cincinnati? Price Hill Chili of course. My best friend (and many other close friends/ex boyfriend/sexy elder boys/strongly conservative old men who enjoy listening to your "youngin'" conversations) live(s) on the westside. In fact, my best friend lives about two streets away. I'm also a teenager, which means my pocketbook is...uhm...ten bucks, flat. Where do I eat? Here, obviously. This is not the best meal you will ever have if you are any type of foodie. But the staff is extremely friendly, Sam (he owns the joint) is my bud, and they give me an overwhelmingly big omelette to satisfy my goetta cravings/needs. I do warn you though, the home fries kinda suck. I order an extra plate of buttered rye bread instead, yum:) Oh...you want to know about the chili? The chili is...not Cincinnati-style. Sam is a Greek immigrant (as you would tell from his still-thick accent) and his chili is Greek-Style...meatier, thicker, more substantial. If you're looking for a Cincinnati 3-way, don't come here, because although good, it won't be it. You don't come here to eat healthy. You don't come here on a date. You come here with your buds after Elder games to check out men, or if you're older, to talk about how Elder's football/basketball/baseball team did in the latest game. Price Hill Chili epitomizes the westside, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. BTW: They DO take credit cards now! Visa, Mastercard & Discover! (Sorry American Express holders...) P.S.: If you're from out of town and you've never had goetta, get it. It's basically sausage mixed with steel cut oats. And guess what. I love goetta. GOETTTTTTTTTTTTA! Goetta, goetta, goetta! Goetta, goetta goetta!...
(4)Ryan P.
Best goetta in Cincinnati. There, I said it. I used to think that Glier's hot goetta was the best, but even though Price Hill's isn't spicy, it still has a better flavor. Of course, I just had to get a side of it, since I hate hate hate eggs. My side of goetta went great with my 4-way with onions and cheese coney. Since it was my first time, I figured that would be a great intro into all their chili dishes. The 4-way was pretty good. I really liked the flavor and texture of the chili, but the cheese was a bit too melted for my tastes. Also, they don't have their own hot sauce, just Tabasco on the tables. It's one of my least favorite hot sauces, but it made do. The cheese coney was really tasty. They're a little bit bigger than Skyline, but once again I wish the cheese wasn't as melted. Maybe my dishes just sat in the heat lamp too long before they were pulled by the server. I think the next time I go, I'll have to try one of their double decker sandwiches. Other guys at the table had them, and they looked amazing. I wonder if they'll make me one with goetta. The service was good as well, and the place was really accommodating of our large group. I'll be back for sure!

Wonderful food, all around... You name it, they more than likely serve it. Also very fair prices and speedy service.

Part of my afternoon chili tour with Ethan H., a fellow yelpist from Indianapolis. We sat at the bar, so we didn't see the decor from the rest of the restaurant. We did watch the kitchen work the entire time though, and despite the institution's name, it seemed like most of the food leaving the line was not chili based. A lot of sandwiches and dinner looking plates were being processed and only a small handful of 3-ways or chili dogs left the counter. And I really don't understand that, because the chili was delicious. It was markedly thicker in consistency than Camp Washington Chili, and it struck one square in the nostrils with how much delicious cinnamon they employ. It had a much less perceptible spiciness kick, too. Again, no noticeable chocolate, so I'm honestly starting to think that it is a myth of the Cincinnati Chili legend. Maybe not, so I'll keep looking just in case. Service, despite our being right on the counter and telling our waitress that we were in a hurry, was a bit slow.
(4)Cincy C.
I dislike Price Hill Chili; their food is not particularly good, their cold cuts are cheap, they don't even give you chips with your sandwich without an extra charge. The service isn't particularly good or friendly, and the restaurant always looks dirty. I am continually perplexed as to why people like PHC, the place is just awful.
(1)Juliane S.
Lots of folks absolutely love PHC. I'm on the fence with them. The service is very good and the price is exceptionally low - but make no mistake this is a greasy spoon and getting anything healthy is difficult. It has been around since the 60's and is quite established in the neighborhood. Great place to take family and lots of folks do just that so if screaming children are not your strong suit this may not be for you. PHC serves its demographic well and many folks on the West Side simply won't go anywhere else.
(3)Mark F.
This is another one of those hidden gems in Cincinnati that you have to try. The people working there are always excellent; even if you come in at 1:30am on Friday night. It is a comfort food paradise. I order the Chili Cheese Omelet, home fries, side of goetta. Never fails to satisfy. You have to love the old school places and visit them whenever you can. If you haven't been I would say come on out to the Westside and enjoy Price Hill Chili.
(5)Andrew V.
Could be the best chili in Cincinnati in my book. Not as heavily spiced as Skyline, Gold Star, and the others but still very flavorful tastes of cinnamon and maybe some nutmeg or cocoa even? I could be imagining the latter two due to the delirium induced from their coney sitting in front of me. Homemade goetta is outstanding as well. I like it as a sandwich but they also make a mean goetta omelet. And finally the double decker sandwiches for when you need a meal that will last you a week. Holy cow. Huge. Delicious. Keep it coming - another coney and more goetta please!

After a cold, rainy morning outside taking family photos- we had worked up a strong appetite. We wanted something warm, fast, but with options to cater to diverse pallets around the table. Charles P. suggested Price Hill Chili and when the word chili sounded out in to the air like angles singing at the occurance of a miracle... I was already walking toward my car. When we were seated, I had already loved this place. I mentioned it had been raining, so my hair was plastered to the side of my face, my clothes were damp, my make up was smudged and... we fit right in! There were families, couples, groups of guys watching the baseball game and everyone was relaxed, comfy and enjoying themselves. So, naturally, so was I. The menu was extensive and took some time to cover. The waitress offered that they served breakfast all day (ding!), that they had chili hot and ready to go(ding!) and they onion rings (cha-ching!). Now, all of this sounded good. So, I ordered my unsweetened iced tead, the group ordered theirs and we sat there in silence drooling over the menu; ham and cheese melt, 3-way, 4-way, omelettes, bacon cheeseburgers, french fries, onion rings.... Divine. But! This momma is still watching what I eat and I'm at a place called, Price Hill Chili. They were known for their chili. I can make an omellete at home everyday. In fact, I do. So, chili was my decision and I committed to that by closing my menu and asking someone to hold it and keep it from me. The decision has been made. There was no turning back. We ordered.. and waited. The food came in a timely fashion. Most ordered hamburgers, one ordered a 4-way with onions, one ordered a Ham and Cheese Melt and one ordered the club with onion rings. Me, I ordered my chili with a small house salad with ranch. The chili was definitely Cincinnati style chili. I'm not the biggest fan of that style. Living in Cincinnati, there certainly are bigger fans, but there are lesser fans as well and so I ate that chili to the last drop. I was given some cheese and oyster crackers to compliment my chili choice. They kept refilling our drinks and the service was very attentive and polite. Even with a pretty packed house. Over all, I was pleased. I don't know that I would go out of my way to eat there, but if I'm in the area, it would defintely be a top choice. I recommend it to families, or friends for a Saturday afternoon lunch or maybe a Sunday breakfast after church. It's yummy in my belly!

If you go to Price Hill Chili, go in the front door on Glenway Avenue. The area you walk in to is how Price Hill Chili started. It has since expanded quite a bit and has a lot more dining area (the most recent addition being a window room fully equipped with flat screen tvs), but the front room is the most nostalgic and you can also watch the cooks cook there. I grew up across the street from Price Hill Chili. I have been here, quite honestly, at least 50 times. Many of my friends in high school worked here and we always hung out here. I no longer live across the street from Price Hill Chili, nor do my friends work here anymore. But I return to Price Hill Chili about twice a year for an omelette. I love their omelettes, but it seems they have downsized them recently as well as raised their prices. Still, the prices remain reasonable. Obviously don't come here expecting something to be the best thing you've ever had, because it won't be. Do come here if you want a casual dining experience, an extensive menu with good Cincinnati chili as well as a few good greek options (the owner is greek). It's a west side landmark and worth a visit.
(3)Alexander P.
Sam, the owner, built this place to what it is --- after many expansions, one of the best diners in the city. It has developed more into a bar-type place and a full-on restaurant, but I will always remember coming here for the breakfast food and great lunches. It has a diner/ friendly feel but offers a good range of options. If you typically get fries, you absolutely must get the Greek French Fries (a type of peppery-salt seasoning). These were a staple for my friends and I when we would eat here all the way back in grade school. Over all, this seems to be a great place to come after church or before a game, or just whenever. The prices are very affordable, and I always avoid eating at chain restaurants when there's the opportunity to support a nice local gem like Price Hill Chili.
(4)Bob F.
Price Hill Chili. A west side establishment. So what was an east sider doing here? Well, I've been on a quest for chili, Cincinnati chili, and you can't rightly not include what is undoubtedly the favorite chili parlor of half of Cincinnati. When I walked in, it was a little more refined than I expected. I was expecting more of a homey house converted to restaurant style, but when you've been in business for as long as they have, I guess you need to keep with the times. I got a 3-way and a cheese coney because those are just what one gets at a chili parlor. The chili was a little watery for my tastes but reminded me a lot of what my dad used to make at home. Delicious anyway and a good choice for anyone on the west side. However, also being a west side establishment, I was quite disappointed there was no Hudepohl on tap. But having a bar at a chili parlor is definitely a plus, so the Hudy bottles work just fine. Chili and beer make a wonderful evening!
(4)Rob K.
Clap clap clap. Yum yum yum. I'm not sure why I had to go here a few times before feeling like writing a review, but here goes... Don't overlook the breakfast hours. Weekends for breakfast are the tops, and need to be taken advantage of. But here's a tip: head to the bar and have breakfast at the bar. Bypass the waiting area, and have at it. If you ask nicely, and if the place is really crowded, they'll open the room in the back - behind the bar. Try a variety, go away happy and then come back for more.
(4)Mike W.
If you want to introduce an outsider to Cincinnati Chili, Price Hill Chili is the place to do it. It's slightly more meaty than the mainstream, which may be less of a culture shock than those used to Texas-style. It can still stand up taste-wise to some of the better joints, but I still have to give the edge to some others. Price Hill's major selling point though is atmosphere. From the exterior, it looks like a very exclusive club. On the inside, it's a family restaurant plucked from the pages of Americana. It's very inviting and familiar atmosphere, moreso than the chili parlor decor we've all known to love and appreciate. And as many others have mentioned, they have goetta. Might as well knock out two Cincinnati staples with one stone, right?
(4)Sean B.
If you can work your way past the photos of Dick Cheney in the lobby -- wait, just make sure you enter from the street and you can avoid them all together -- Price Hill Chili is a great place to grab breakfast or to sample yet another version of Cincinnati-style chili. A Westside institution, it's a safe bet to take out-of-town visitors for a weekend breakfast/brunch. Heck, it's probably the only place on the Westside open on Sunday. Try the Goetta and Cheese or the Chili and Cheese omelettes if you are in the mood for something eggy, or the Big Sam is great for lunch. Word to the wise, no credit cards accepted, so bring cash.
(4)Michael C.
I seriously don't understand the love that folks have for Price Hill Chili. When I lived on the West Side, I had a few so-so meals at PHC before eliminating it from my list of dinner options. A few months ago, I started noticing rave reviews of PHC's breakfasts from local publications. Since I consider myself somewhat of a Local Breakfast Groupie, I decided to give them another try. Big mistake. The eggs were runny, the coffee tasted like dirty water and the homefries were probably the worst in Cincinnati. I was shocked that anyone could consider this place a "local treasure," especially when there are legitimately great breakfast restaurants like Mokka and The Echo only a few short miles away. The one saving grace of my most recent experience at Price Hill Chili was the sweet and wonderful waitress who did everything she could to make my meal pleasant. When PHC's figures out a way to make their food as great as their service, I'll become their most loyal customer. For now... I'm heading over to Mokka.

so embarrassed to say that i have lived in cincy for 14 years and this is the FIRST time i ever wen here. it is awesome. i had no idea how BIG it was or how AWESOME the menu was. i am hooked. i will be back. i have the corned beef double decker. home run. blue chees dressing is very good on the side salad too - and i am a blue cheese snob. for fealz. cheese fries are really awesome too. however, PRC still has this one on PHC. sorry, dudes. next time i am on the west side, more likely than not, if it is not my in-laws' house, i will be here.

Went to Price Hill Chili this morning for breakfast. We hadn't been out to breakfast in quite a while, and it sounded SO good! It ended up being basically fine. Their homemade goetta was definitely the highlight and very, very good. Around the table we had pancakes, french toast and a greek omelet. The french toast and pancakes were, well, french toast and pancakes, served with fake maple syrup and powdered sugar. I will say I appreciated the powdered sugar because that fake syrup is pretty gag-worthy if you ask me, but nobody did, so what can you do? Anyway, certainly no better (or different) than what I can make at home. The real pitfall for me though was the omelet. It was basically a VERY thin sheet of egg wrapped around a hodgepodge of finely diced ingredients that basically tasted like nothing unless you got a bite with a bit of olive or feta. Would definitely like to return for lunch or dinner sometime to see what that's like, but so far, Price Hill Chili, for me, has not exactly lived up to the hype.
(3)Brandon S.
This place is amazing and deserves no less than 5 stars. The owner works every shift and is never not seen on the floor. They have every type of food prepared perfectly. Great place to go to for any casual dining occasion. You will get addicted.
(5)Nick M.
I went here for a late night snack. I was surprised to see that they had their full menu available. That was great for me! I ended up having a meal instead of just a snack! The food was good.
(3)Phil M.
their food is just another place to get food. nothing special in this place. and I stopped going there when I see they pander to the republican party every few years. not spending my money at a place like that.
(2)Andy P.
After taking the scenic route out here (thanks Randy S.!) and giving my navigator some stern advice, we ended up at Price Hill Chili. It's pretty much a Greek diner that serves chili and goetta, which are both local specialties, so I got some of both. Randy got it over spaghetti which apparently is pretty typical. The chili was a kind of a radioactive red grease with some meat and beans in it and overall wasn't that bad. Sort of strange and runny, but it could have definitely been much worse. Maybe my palate has not adjusted to Cincinnasty chili tastes, so it's really hard to say, but we both were kind of like, WTF? The goetta, which I had never had before tasted like grease and pork knuckles mixed with fly paper. Still, again, it didn't seem that goetta was the culprit as much as the overall quality at PHC. We were also treated to a bizarre dialog among regulars, off duty workers hanging out and the wait-staff. That was a plus. Overall, I regret going because I probably just should have gone to Skyline, but I wanted to be different. I suppose the nail that sticks out gets pounded down.
(2)Christoffer M.
A landmark. The chili is classic (meatier than Skyline, though not as spicy). The place is packed (always). The kids hang out here. The goetta is always hot. But the great fame comes from the mouth-stretching double deckers. If you wish to simulate one, here's how: Toast 3 slices of bread. Lay one on a plate. Grab as much lunchmeat as can fit in one hand. Slap it on the first slice. Add cheese and sauces as desired. Put the next slice on top of it. Tomatoes. Repeat the lunchmeat piling. More cheese and/or condiments. Lettuce. Third slice. Unhinge your jaw and devour. The Hippo (ham and roast beef) is the classic, but you can pick any two lunch meats for your sandwich. You'd better pick two you like, because you will have a lot of each.
(4)Randy S.
Stopped in here for a late night dinner with Andy P. during or road trip from Dallas to Connecticut. As Andy alluded to, there were some navigational shenanigans, leading to us riding down some streets where, as Andy said, we could get shot in the head. Oh well. We lived. Yes, this place was weird. The patrons freely walked into the kitchen, and we couldn't quite figure out the relationships among them. But, the chili over spaghetti was tasty. A one of a kind place. Ambiance: 25/25 stars Food: 17/25 stars Service: 16/25 stars Bathroom: 15/25 stars Probability of going back: 2% (a one-time thing, I would think)
(3)Michelle M.
Although know for their Cincinnati-style chili, I decided to try Price Hill Chili's steak hoagie with a side of onion rings. Both were delicious. The service was fast and attentive and the price was right. Price Hill Chili is a winner.
(4)Emily S.
Price Hill Chili is the staple of the West Side of Cincinnati. Nestled right in Covedale, it offers everything you could ever want in a local fare. Owned by Sam Beltos, one of my favorite Greek humans, he means business and delivers on food and friendly service. Become a regular and he'll stop and chat every time you're there. With stories from his family back home and in Cincinnati to the celebrities he's met, each one is just as entertaining and one of a kind as he is. I may be biased, being a native west sider, but come breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, Price Hill Chili offers you what ever your heart desires. With brunch and breakfast, I'd recommend an omelet or two eggs over-easy with a side of goetta and home fries. (The exact order my father has ordered for the last 20 years, yes 20 years!) The goetta, oh the goetta, is everything and more. Meaty, oaty, crispy. Just thinking about it makes me want to hop on over. They make the goetta in house and trust me it's delicious. For dinner or lunch, any one of their sandwiches will do. From the steak hoagie to the Stinger and Big Sam, none will let you down. Pair them with a half order of fries or onion rings and you'll be in greasy spoon heaven. Price Hill Chili is an institution decorated head to toe in local Cincinnati sports memorabilia. From local high school photos and equipment to the major leagues and professional teams signed helmets and signs, Price Hill Chili will make you feel right at home. Visit there enough times and the waitresses will put in your usual and have your drink on the table before you can even get comfortable in your seat.

PHC is a classic! Good old fashion greasy spoon diner food which is always there for you when you need it. Unless it's Sunday after 3p because they are closed then. Recommend the Big Sam burger or the Stinger.

I had the coney and the chili because it was what Cincinnati is known for. It was different and enjoyable but I wouldn't get it again. I'm just not a big fan of chili on spaghetti. I did however really enjoy the gyro. It was the best gyro I've had outside of Europe. If I could find a gyro as good as that one in SF I'd be a happy camper. The waitress was awesome. She was really helpful and extremely nice. I wish more servers in San Francisco were like her.

I had previously rated this restaurant badly. Recently I went back and they did well. The food and service was good. Way to go.

This is a Westside icon. I love this spot. The food is solid - not the best you've ever had, but it's consistently good. Feel like going in at 7pm on a Saturday night with a group of 15 or so? No problem. They're always accomodating, and I have never waited terribly long even with a large group. Late night, i LOVE to slip into the lounge side of this place and have a cheap beer and people watch. It's our go to for cheap comfort food!

I have been here so many times throughout my life. Living on the westside it's just another staple restaurant all must visit. My most recent visit was lunch with a couple girlfriends and my youngest daughter. We arrived just after 11:30 on a weekday. Great time to arrive for lunch. When noon hit the tables were filling up. Service was good. Drinks were delivered promptly as was our food. The waitress stopped by once after food was delivered, however we didn't see her again until the bill was paid. We could have used more napkins and a refill. I ordered breakfast, two eggs, home fries and goetta. The eggs were cooked as asked but was really disappointed by the home fries. They were sliced potatoes that were so oily I just passed on them. I understand a fried item is oily but these potatoes looked as if the were just heated to a warm in a soppy, oily pan. The goetta was spot on and made up for the taters. A big ol' slab that was a bit crunchy on outside and nice and soft on the inside. Oh yummy, yummy goetta!! My daughter ordered off the child's menu and had a 3-way and fries. This is a large portion for a child. The fries came with the 3-way. She mainly picked at all the cheese on top and are a few fries. She had a large amount left over and I wasn't offered a box to take it home. Again, not the worst service....it just needs a few pick me ups in offering instead of waiting to flag down and ask server. The price is what you would expect to pay at a family owned business. A bit higher than a cooperate business. Overall, not bad. But not in any hurry to return. I prefer Delhi Chili.

Horrible service every time I go to PHC. I was with a group here on Saturday and our waitress spilled coffee on my boyfriend. Not only did she not apologize but her response when my boyfriend reacted was "if it makes you feel better I got some on myself". Are you kidding me?! I have worked in the service industry for over 10 years and I would Be mortified if I ever did something like that!

I grew up in Cincinnati, 20 minutes away from this place, yet didn't step foot inside until age 31. My review is hazy - we came here late after enjoying Vinoklet wine festivals- so, you know. We just needed some food in our bellies and I chose here over White Castle. My man-friend ordered the coneys and fries) he's been coming here for years and had never had their chili!) and I got breakfast: two eggs over medium, hash browns extra-crispy and cornbeef hash. Our meal totaled $11.64, I'm not even joking. If you're looking for a place with gourmet food or a super clean upscale restaurant, this is not your scene. But if you're looking for a cheap, filling meal that's open late and hits the spot after consuming a decent amount of alcohol, hellooooooo price hill chili!

This place is a westside landmark and Sam and the boys still do a great job every time I visit. Sandwiches are large, service is great and you always run into people you know. Try the Hippo or any of the double deckers. Breakfast here is always perfect (get some goetta!) I don't get chili here very often but it is always good.

I found my way to Price Hill Chili for lunch this afternoon after being forced out of my temporary home office due to Time Warner's failure to keep the Internet connection alive, but that is a conversation for another day. I have wanted to visit this Cincinnati institution on the west side of town for a number of weeks but my wife and I had failed to find the time to do so. I know that I have been inside the restaurant or the connected Golden Fleece Lounge many years ago, but I don't think I have ever had anything to eat. The restaurant and lounge sit on the busy Glenway Avenue and have been in this same location since they opened the doors in 1962. I entered the restaurant through the original front door, and the first thing you see is the steam table and grill, making it feel like you are using the back door. Since most people likely enter from the rear of the building, which connects to the parking lot, this room does now feel like the kitchen area. I took a seat at the dining counter adjacent to the kitchen area so I could watch the two cooks and the various waitresses as they came and went. After taking an order for another guy at the counter, a waitress came by for a drink order and handed me a menu. I glanced over it, although I already knew that I was coming here to try the 4 way. The menu is filled with traditional diner fare including a wide variety of breakfast foods. I noticed right away that most people were either ordering sandwiches or breakfast, especially omelets despite it being nearly 1pm. It also appeared that many of the customers were regulars since many were known by name and didn't need a menu to decide what they were having. After placing my 4 way order, it arrived in front of me very quickly. Immediately I realized that this was going to be quite a bit different from the Skyline Chili that I am used to. First of all this chili isn't as sweet as Skyline's. Though this chili would still be classified as Cincinnati style, the spices are much more subtle. I did detect a little cinnamon but none of the chocolate tones that I have grown to love. Price Hill Chili is also meatier than Skyline's, so more on par with what Gold Star offers, from what I can remember. With all of that said I must admit that I much prefer Skyline's brand of chili. This wasn't a bad chili but as I said before I have really grown to love the in your face spices from Skyline. If I were to go back to Price Hill Chili I would likely try something on the menu other than their chili, as it appeared most of the other customers were doing. Perhaps they too have already decided they like Skyline better. However Price Hill Chili must be doing something right, as their customers are very local and an open parking spot was hard to come by on my Thursday afternoon visit.

More astonishment. Nobody has bothered to review Price HIll Chili? What is wrong with you people? Shit! How do I say this? There are certain establishments that have more meaning than can be fit in a simple description. On the surface, Price Hill Chili is a slightly seedy Cincinnati chili joint which stays open way later than I stay awake, and also offers goetta (don't ask) and breakfast food. The food is good, but not exciting (unless you're from out of town). It has been in operation roughly 45 years -- a long time for a restaurant, but not as long as Skyline(1949) and not nearly as long as Empress Chili (1922). But in many ways, Price Hill Chili is a symbol for everything that makes my town different. I almost said special. Cincinnati Chili is a greek invention. Goetta is hardcore German, like many of the west side's denizens, and only really exists in Cincinnati. And the culture of chili joints is exclusively ours. I could go on and on, but what I have to say wouldn't have much to do with your dining experience. So just go and enjoy. And remember: as in German, the word "Please?" (bitte?) means everything polite, even, "Could you repeat that?

If you're a west-sider, you've been there many times. It's like a second home to many, and the food is wonderful. You'll see Sam (the owner) wondering around greeting everyone, and wishing them well. It's a feel-good place, that serves the best Goetta in town.
