My wife and I ate here twice so far and have been impressed both times. Please try this place out. Salmon entree was awesome.

3.5 stars, really. The Meritage is a nice addition to the Glendale area. We've only been once but our experience was pleasant and we look forward to going back. Good food -- sort of upscale American -- and a friendly, comfortable, clean and elegant environment. Also, the bill for 2 (two courses each, plus a glass of wine and a shared dessert) was extremely reasonable for the quality.

So glad this restaurant is in the neighborhood! It answers all the needs: cool, easy going bar and nice, groovy dining room that's not too crowded or loud. Good lighting, good sound dampening and good service. Queso and flour tortilla chips were yummy and the stuffed mushrooms were decadent and tasty for our apps. We love the menu (not too many choices, just something for everyone and all done well), and we three diners had salmon, prime rib and scallops. Always love the braised spinach and mashed potatoes. Sides and salads all first class, too. Desserts were creme brulee and blueberry pie with extra ice cream. Again, no complaints, ate every bite! Add a few cocktails and wine, finsih with coffees and dessert: it was another wonderful experience all handled so well by our charming and efficient waiter. We will be back soon, so what else is there to say?

This was a unique visit to this local restaurant, everything we ordered was perfect. We started with the Miritage Salad which was a nice blend of micro greens, apple slices, glazed pecans, and brie. I ordered the 9oz filet with a perfect crush of Maytag Bleu Cheese. I passed on the twice baked potato and ordered the sauteed spinach with garlic. For desert we ordered and shared the Bailey's Chocolate Cake. Miritage is one of the place you go with on special occasions as the price tends to be a little high for every day dining.

I love Meritage! The staff works so hard to make your experience the best it can be. I really appreciate the delicious fresh food and my experience has always been fantastic. I've been several times including opening week and it just keeps getting better!!

Just visited for the 1st time to celebrate my wife's birthday. Decided to give this place a try because of 700 WLW radio commercial backed up with positive Yelp reviews. Both my wife and I greatly enjoyed our experience here. We unintentionally arrived just before 6pm and our waitress was nice enough to let us know that it was still happy hour on drinks. My wife loved her white wine sangria and my Truth draft was delicious as well (both half off). We both went with the seafood 3 course meal. Bruschetta was great and a really healthy portion. My stuffed mushrooms were also very good but the bruschetta would win out if I had to choose. My wife call the wedge salad the best she had ever had, and I 100% agree. We both also had the pan seared scallops with were good but not the best I ever had, I'd give them a B. Overall the meal was A+ though. The entire staff was extremely friendly and about 4 different employees stopped by our table to wish my wife a happy birthday and thank us for dinning there. I made reservations online and simply put in the comment section that it was her birthday and they took it from there. They even put a birth day candle in my wife's dessert. Addition bonus points for not attempted to sing "Happy Birthday", just a nice gesture that was much appreciated. Will definitely visit again for the top notch service and excellent food.

Came here last night for dinner with my mom. I remember when the space used to be the gas light cafe and it was very crowded and the bar was right at the entrance area. Well since the new owners have taken over the space and named it Meritage it looks wonderful with curry colored paint on the walls and nice wood tables and black booths with some paintings on the wall. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by the general manager and he showed us to our table, our server came right over and filled up our water glasses and went over the specials and highlighted the wine list. We agreed upon splitting a bottle of Other from the Meritage section after a suggestion from our server. After looking at the menu I decided on getting the mussels in a white wine sauce for my app and for my main I ordered the bistro steak sandwich, my mom ordered the melted brie and tomato sandwich. My mussels were very good, I will say however there was to much mussel sauce in the bowl and could have been reduced down. The flavor was good and the toasted garlic bread served was a nice touch to sop up some of the sauce. The bistro steak sandwich was very good and served on a hoagy roll and cooked to the temperature I asked with some creamy horseradish and melted cheese and even grilled onions and the sandwich was served with fries and au jus sauce. My mom's sandwich was also very good as I got a bite in, the brie cheese was melted perfectly and had tomatoes on sourdough bread, usually it is served with potato salad, but my mom substituted the Meritage salad. As for dessert, another server came over and explained the house made mango cheesecake and then I wanted to order it. It was served with a raspberry coulis, very fresh and perfect for a hot night. Another note: Meritage has half price bottles of wine on Monday's! A great addition to Glendale!

Love this place! Whenever the wife and I have a meal here it just comes together. It feels like home to us. Just big enough to have character, but small enough to feel just right. Never a bad meal.

Food and service excellent, a great dining experience. We had stuffed mushrooms, wonderful salad and a salmon dish for a set price of $25. Wine selection good both by bottle or glass. I will go back for the meat options which sounded so good when our nice server Eric shared Until next time ....Ciao

Just had the MOST amazing dinner. My husband and I chose this place based on Yelp reviews. Great choice! I had the Surf and Turf and he had Goat cheese encrusted filet. Better steaks than the ones served to us at Jeff Ruby's two weeks ago. Wish it was closer to our house but well worth the drive.

I was here with a friend who had a coupon. My friend loved the cauliflower soup. I had the Meritage salad, which was fresh & good, as were the rolls. I also had the vegetarian pita sandwich and it was good. We both got the chocolate layer cake & it was good. We got there about 6pm on a Friday night, and by the time we left it was busy. The guy server was good but could have been better. I would only go back if I had a coupon, because otherwise the prices are high for what you get (except the yummy asparagus for $4 seems like a deal).

Don't sit at the bar. The bartender is really rude that she placed the check on our table in less than 1 min (literary! more like 30 sec) after she took our plates as she wants us to leave asap!!! Of course, without asking if we want dessert or need anything else. Since she didn't do such to other customers, so we felt discriminated. She was rude because we are Asian??? Such attitude ruins even decent dinner. However, I had prime rib (special menu) and that was really good.

Ever wonder why you *didn't* listen to the little voice in your head telling you there's a reason why the restaurant has a sign saying 'immediate seating available' out front, and it's probably NOT a good one? I convinced myself and my friends that this place was an undiscovered gem and, given some of the reviews here, you'd think it was. It's NOT. Problems we had: a) Bar screw ups. A member of our party asked for a mixed drink. First time it came out there was a *major* ingredient missing and the glass was half full. The replacement was okay, but the second one ordered had a different taste and clearly had been mixed using different portions, which is just...wrong. b) Fish special. For some reason, one dinner came out *several minutes* after everyone else's. Not a little later, the rest of the table -who had been told to please go ahead and start - were halfway done with their dinners and one pretty much done when the meal came out. Then when it came out... nothing special about the dish at all, very mediocre. Honestly have had significantly better at mini-chains like Bravo. c) DRY food. Steaks were served with huge pats of butter, which two members of our party removed. Underneath the steaks were very dry. And one was rare! And the salmon was over cooked as well. The only good thing were the salads, fresh and very tasty, and the service, our waiter was fantastic (hence two stars). However neither of these outweigh the deficiencies in the food. We don't be back. And next time I'll listen to that little voice.
I have dined here several times for lunch. It is a little pricey for lunch and could use some additional lunch menu items on the $9.99 menu. For example, if you order the french dip off the menu it is $15.99. That is way too much for lunch. The lunch menu only offers like 4 items. The food is awesome! The service is very friendly and attentive. I am sure it would be great for dinner.

My wife and I were looking to break out of our same-old-restaurant(s) rut, so we picked Meritage based on strong Yelp reviews. The restaurant is about 20 minutes from our house and in a place we rarely go, so it fit the bill as a "dining adventure" for us. The food was well prepared and the portions reasonable (we ordered the double surf & turf). The ambiance was comfortable if a bit too bright, especially for a Saturday night. The service started out great, but deteriorated towards the end of the meal. Our server seemed aggravated with us when we asked to see a dessert menu (they don't have one, though they do serve a handful of dessert items), and he never asked us for our dessert order. He also - inexplicably - cautioned us about drinking too much (we each had a cocktail and one glass of wine from a bottle we corked and took home with us). Rather bizarre.

Good Service is NOT a Thing of the Past! I probably wouldn't have traveled to Glendale from Bellevue if I didn't have a gift certificate for Meritage, or have even known about it, but I'm so glad I went. I sat in the bar area, which was neither divey or pretentious. There was a 2-man band playing and the music contributed nicely to the atmosphere. Our server greeted us promptly and was very attentive, as was the hostess who I assume was the owner. We didn't recognize much on the wine list so we asked our server for a recommendation. Even though Meritage has bottles over $100, the one our waiter recommended was one of the least expensive on the list and was delicious! I'll be more apt to try a more expensive one next time since I know whomever is picking their wines has good taste, as did our server. My friend and I decided to have some appetizers with our wine and ordered their hummus of the day and the muscles. Both were excellent. The hummus was a little lacking in tahini, but tasted great with chunks of chickpeas, black olives, and feta cheese. The muscles were done in a white wine sauce with diced tomato and were cooked perfectly. I was more than pleased with my experience at Meritage. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the service was better than most restaurants I've been to in greater Cincinnati. I will definitely go back!

This was a real treat. I didn't have a reservation but they were accommodating anyway. I started with a glass of the red wine sangria and some warm bread and butter. The waiter, Stephen, recommended their version of a wedge salad which comes with a balsamic reduction. It was the best one I've ever had. Fantastic. My main course was the Thai salmon with rice pilaf and the daily vegetable which was spaghetti squash with shaved Parmesan and a yummy sauce. The service was friendly and expedient. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive and the food was cooked perfectly. I can't wait to go back. My only complaint...I was too full to try desert.

This is an excellent restaurant, not too posh but posh enough to please all but the terribly picky people who should simply stay home. Katy was our server last weekend and the evening was just great. Cheryl and I split a large Prime Rib and with exception of the missing horseradish which we did not miss until we were in the car on the way home. The general manager dropped by our table. This time it was not because we were making too much noise but to help our friends find the perfect wine that was not a Merlot or a Cabernet. Somehow he found the right wine because our friends settled down after that to enjoy their Vino. We had a very nice Cabernet Sauvignon whose name escapes me at this instant. Eat here! It will not disappoint!

I have been here twice and had two very different experiences. On my first trip, from what I can remember, I enjoyed my food quite a bit. I had the NY strip and remember it being a good cut, cooked rare/medium-rare. I liked it enough to come back... I most recently went on Valentine's Day (2 days ago). They offered a 2 for $60 menu which is a pretty good deal for a nice establishment. The bruschetta was fine, not great nor bad, likewise with the salad. However, my steak (a Manhattan strip) was a bit below par. I knew it came with a peppercorn sauce but I expected it on the side. Instead, my steak was totally smothered. I thought this was a bit unusual; a good cut of steak doesn't need to be drenched in sauce, it should be able to stand alone. The cut was also questionable, as there were a few pieces of fat that couldn't be chewed through. It wasn't awful but if I return here I will be hesitant to order a steak again. In my opinion when you pay more than $20 for a steak it should be better than what is available to buy at Kroger. Perhaps the lesson here is to stick to the regular menu instead of the specials. On a more positive note, our server and manager who sat us were top-notch and the atmosphere is cozy.

Went there last night with my wife for a nice night out away from the kids. I have to stay, from start to finish, this was probably the most enjoyable meal we have had in a very long time. My only negative was that the restaurant was quite noisy. Perhaps some better acoustic tiling would help in that regard. We started with the queso dip, which was excellent. The homemade chips were still warm and the dip was great. Next, I had the French Onion Soup. Probably the best I've had in years. Nice and cheesy and the broth was very flavorful. For our entries, my wife had the 12oz Prime Rib and she claimed (being a prime rib connoisseur) that this might have been the best prime rib she'd ever had. From the few bites she let me have, I couldn't disagree. I have their special, which featured Thait Glazed Salmon, Rock Lobster Tail and Pan Seared Scallops. Honestly, of the three, I was least looking forward to the lobster tail since I typically prefer main lobster to the rock variety, but it was absolutely delicious! The salmon was also wonderful, as long as you didn't overdo the dipping sauce. The scallops were prepared perfectly and were nice and buttery without being overdone. No desert, but we were both stuffed by then. Our waitress provided fantastic service and we will definitely be returning!

My parent's recently moved to Glendale, so we go to Meritage all the time, and every single time I go I happen to have an amazing time. This little place is run by people who enjoy cooking, have a good sense of flavors and have yet to disappoint. Think of it this way; the steak is almost like being in a steakhouse and everything else is prepared nicely. Also; they have a chocolate drink that one of the bartenders came up with that my brother raved about while he was visiting. Thankfully we can walk to my parents place when I visit, cause they put it on the menu after enough people (including us) urged them to add it. It's the most well-hidden place in Cincinnati because it is easily one of the best places in town for an overall American cuisine experience. Marketing for them would do more to help explode their reputation, but I love the fact that Glendale is this small little city within a city that feels like you never have to leave...all because of places like Meritage. Go and enjoy!

Dinner for four last night. Ate in the lounge, we all enjoyed our meals. I had a steak prepared as ordered and very good, their Caesar salad is one of the best I have ever had. entertainment in the lounge at a volume that allowed us to hear each when talking but offered a pleasant background. Eat here often, highly recommend it.

I had never heard of this place until I purchased a Foodie Cincy deck during the Christmas season, as I am not familiar with the Glendale neighborhood. So with a $10 off of a $30 purchase in hand, we headed here for dinner. The restaurant is located in an old home, so the atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable. We had a group of 3 people - 2 of us ordered the petite filet and 1 of us ordered the daily fish. All of us enjoyed our entrees, and the service was very attentive as well. This is definitely a place that I could see as having a lot of regulars, because of the welcoming environment and varied but familiar menu items. Price wise, this place is cheaper than a lot of other places in the Cincinnati area with similar menus. There is a good selection of seafood and meat entrees and they offer a 3 course seafood night for $25 on Sundays and Tuesdays. IMHO, an awesome deal! It is a little bit out of the way for me, but I can definitely see myself returning.

This is our "go-to" restaurant for those times we'd like a good meal, pleasant surroundings, wonderful staff and consistency. Never had a bad meal, never had bad service and the specials really are special. Whether we eat in the bar area or the dining room the experience is completely satisfying.

We live in drunkin staggering distance of this place. Lol. Things we love! The daily hummus never disappoints also love the fried zucchini & eggplant appetizer Pork chop is great! Thick cut & the maple cream sauce is really good Tuscan chicken sandwich is also a favorite as well Definitely try their sweet potato fries they are the best I've ever had Love the black & blue burger. Ask about the Meritage burger. It's not on the menu. Has bacon, bourskin cheese, onions & balsalmic reduction. Super good burger If you are there & your lucky enough to have the rib special get them. They are great bit sell out fast. Prim rib is also a great special they do as well All this being said. The biggest complaint we have is that it's the SAME menu that they have had since they opened. Specials are usually always the same as well. Really wish they would get some new things. They do such a good job

Before reading my amazing review of the restaurant below.... Enter the correct address into gps! If you simply GPS meritage restaurant, you end up in a very scary ghetto!!! My fiance and I ate here last night and it was hands down the best dining experience we have had in a long time! Wonderful ambiance, with soft live music playing near the bar area. The musician chose classy fun songs perfect for the dinner crowd and wasn't over amplified like so many places make the mistake of doing. Our server was phenomenal and well educated in their dishes and told us about the specials of the night and her recommendations. I ordered their seafood trifecta with their cabbage and goat cheese and was in heaven! My fiance ordered the strip and said it was cooked perfectly with a complimenting glaze that didn't over power the flavor of the steak. But back to my dinner.... The salmon was to die for and the cabbage.... Even if you don't like cabbage, this is a must try! It was sweet and mixed perfectly with the flavorful goat cheese. The flavors that mixed in my mouth just woke up my tastebuds and...just wow! This is going to be our go to date night spot from now on. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
My daughter and I needed a girls night out. Wanted something delicious, but not pretentious or fussy. Meritage fits the bill perfectly. We both ordered the prime rib special. It came so quickly which was perfect for us. It was late and she was hungry! On the downside, our prime rib was much fattier than expected. Still delicious and prepared as requested. Our sides were also fantastic. Our server was kind and appropriately attentive and friendly. The musician in the bar was a nice touch. He was talented! I didn't share his taste in music, but he was still good. Friendly hint: watch out for the utility pole in the middle of the parking lot. Can be a pricey trip to the body shop.
We celebrated a birthday there tonight and the food was excellent, service and atmosphere were great. First time customers but will certainly be returning

Wow... This place is great. My wife and I enjoyed a romantic anniversary dinner here. The food was incredible. My wife got the Cajun goat cheese crusted steak... I regretted the amazing food I got bc hers was so darn good. This place keeps you guessing and is worth the treat. But you will be paying a bit for the enjoyment.

On Friday, September 23, a group of us met for the monthly Happy Mouth Supper Club outing. It was Wendy's month to select, and she chose MERITAGE (which rhymes with "heritage"), a new restaurant that has opened in Glendale. It was a great selection, and we (Ted, Tracy, Carrie, Ron, Terry, Julie, Jay, Wendy, and me) very much enjoyed the food. They offer "classic food with a twist", and have kept the menu small and reasonably simple, but flourishes appear here and there as the "twist". The classic Steamed Mussels in White Wine Sauce features a couple pieces of nice bread (however, the bread should be served alongside -- rather than soaking in the wine sauce and getting soggy), and the Grilled Brie Sandwich is outstanding with it's smear of balsamic reduction on the plate (if you happen to find the tomato soup on the menu, it is a natural pairing with this sandwich!). The Fried Eggplant and Zucchini is surprisingly light, and the roasted garlic aioli compliments the crisp, fresh vegetables nicely. A previous visit, I tried the Bistro Steak Sandwich, which was cooked properly and tasted nice, but the large vein of sinew running through the steak made it chewy and slightly difficult to eat (this is to be expected with this particular cut of meat, but perhaps the kitchen could jaccard the steak before cooking). The fries were fresh, crispy, and very tasty -- a treat. We found their selection of wine to be very nice, but were surprised at the limited number of wines by the glass, especially considering the name of the place (meritage is a type of wine, "Bordeaux-style without actually being Bordeaux"). I hope in the future to see additional wines offered by the glass. However, we found pleasant choices by the glass. We stayed for dessert and Wendy & I enjoyed a piece of their Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. Nicely executed, with a thick layer of sweet frosting on top of dense carrot cake. The only thing missing, one of my dining companions noted, was the little frosting carrot decoration! It was a good Happy Mouth, and we have high expectations for MERITAGE.

Friendly environment; lovely colors and inviting space. Would have been happy in the dining room; but a gathering in the bar space was lovely. Bruschetta seems like it couldn't be special, but it was. The freshest tomatoes made for a wonderful start to what was to come. A taste of the scallops and mushrooms just makes you want more. Familiar entrees with the highest quality ingredients made all the difference. That filet melted in my mouth, as well as the pork chop. I mean really, how do these usuals taste so exquisite? Talented musician in the background finished off the atmosphere leading to an overall, beautiful dream defined by Kristie Fowee. Thank you, Meritage, for a wonderful evening.

My mom & I were in Glendale meeting with photographers & starving after a long morning of wedding meetings. She suggested some restaurant which used to be in this building, but when we arrived we decided to give Meritage a try. Maybe it was because we were there at lunch during the week, but the restaurant was filled with mostly elderly people. This made me a little nervous, but by the time we left there were other business professionals eating as well. I had the tuscan grilled chicken sandwich with mac & cheese. My sandwich had a bit too much pesto to the point where it was dripping off the sides, but otherwise very flavorful and the bread was delicious. The mac & cheese was to die for. Just the way I like it - cheesy with bread crumbs on top and a few burnt edges. My mom went with the fish sandwich and fries. The fries had a great seasoning on them as well. A little expensive, but well worth it if you're in the area.

The decor was modern, clean, and simply beautiful. It was nice that they also have an outdoor seating area. It was very hot inside so I think they were having issues w/ their thermostat. The service was fantastic! Most of the food we ordered was fantastic too, with the exception of the seafood. I had the lobster and my husband had the scallops. My lobster had the faint smell of ammonia which was a huge letdown considering what a great experience we were having so far. My husband also smelled ammonia in his scallops. So why would I still give this place 4 stars? Well, being from CA, I expect the seafood here to be top-notch. But when I'm in the mid west, I don't expect much from the seafood there so I knew I was taking a risk. I was also really impressed by how kid-friendly the place was. Although it was a "white tablecloth" place, they had a changing table in the bathroom, which was a nice surprise since I have kids. I'd definitely recommend this place and would come again but I won't order any seafood.

Approach cautiously. I've eaten at this restaurant twice. The first timer was uneventful, a neutral experience. Unfortunately, the second time the service was too, too fast. We had just been given our salads, almost immediately followed by entrees. It was apparent that the staff wanted to go home ( it was 7:15pm on a Sunday). Two of us ordered steak which we had to send back twice to have it cooked properly. Overall the experience was not relaxing, too fast and too expensive for level of service The remaining food was tasty.

Great place! Quality Food, Service and Atmosphere.
This place is fantastic! A friend and I stopped in after playing tennis for a quick bite, and were pleasantly surprised. They had a great draft beer selection, and my friend and I split the steak sandwich, mac and cheese and the beefsteak tomatoes, and everything was so delicious- especially the mac and cheese. This is literally the first time I have ordered mac and cheese (that didn't have truffle oil or lobster!) that is was utterly phenomenal. Will definitely return with my husband for a date!

Just walked in here on a whim while business traveling. Great ambiance, professionalism, and taste! It's regular american dishes with an upscale twist.

Highly recommended. Fantastic food and great service. Very pleasant atmosphere and decor.

Last night I had one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Good food at a restaurant is important, of course, but just as important is the ambiance and the service. Meritage didin't disappoint in any of those areas. Meritage used to be the Gas Light Cafe which was nice. The new owners have kicked it up a notch. Meritage is a converted house in historic Glendale. The decor is contemporary but cozy. There was a guitar player performing in the bar area where we had a short wait while waiting for a booth. The dining room is small but doesn't feel overly crowded and isn't noisy. My wife and I were celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary and wanted to splurge a little. We started with the scallops which were prepared to perfection. I don't know why so many people have trouble sautéing scallops which should be quite easy. But, they are often overcooked or don't have enough color on them. Ours were prepared to perfection, not overly done, and with a wonderful chili sauce. The general manager recommended an excellent bottle of wine that I was not familiar with and we loved it. My wife had the wedge salad and I had the Caesar salad. The wedge salad was great, if you're a fan of bleu cheese (which we both are). It was loaded with bleu cheese dressing with crumbles of bleu cheese a bit of a balsamic vinegar reduction. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to Caesar salad. I did notice the menu said it came with bacon. But, I skipped over the fact it came with red onions, too. In my opinion, it wasn't really a Caesar salad. But, it was good. For the main course, my wife had a fish we can't recall the name of. It was from South America and was really good. It was most similar to grouper. I had been to Merigae for lunch once and had a fish sandwich, I do recall that fish. It was golden tile and it was the best fish sandwich I've ever had. So, if you go to Meritage and you like fish, try the fish of the day even if you don't recognize the name of the fish. My wife's fish was pan fried and served over a bed of rice with asparagus. I had the prime rib which was done to perfection. That came with a loaded baked potato. For dessert, we were both stuffed. But, we had to try to the creme brûlée. Frankly, I'm not a huge fan of creme brûlée except for the caramelized sugar on top. When it came we both sighed because the portion was huge. But, we ate the whole thing. I think it was the best creme brûlée I've had anywhere. The service was excellent. I like the little things like they kept our water glasses full and our server, instead of telling us to keep our forks between each course, brought out new silverware for every course. The prices are reasonable for such good food and a wonderful atmosphere.

The food, and just as important, the service was outstanding! We decided on the red snapper and it was delicious! Our server Ted was very attentive and made us feel right at home. We will certainly return!

Freaking amazing!!! Had surf and turf fixed perfectly!!! Make sure you do reservations though, because on Saturday night they were full and turning people away!!! You want a great night with wonderful food go here!!!!

(5)Adrianna P.
Went for dinner, the wine selection was great. I had the filet, medium rare, and it was perfectly cooked. The service was attentive, and charming. It was a great experience.

Independent restaurant and somewhat pricey, but stellar yet relaxed service and a creative, fresh menu makes it worth the extra dime. Met a former colleague for lunch and we both agreed that the place is a winner. Why 5 stars? Beautiful yet easygoing environ, good ambiance, great pace of service, outstanding food options. We both had sautéed walleye and salads. Creativity in their menu; great breads for munching prior to the main course. Food was good enough to be memorable a month later. Will definitely return for dinner sometime soon! Cant rave enough about this place, and defy you to find a better restaurant in Glendale, which is filled with plenty of solid choices. Full bar, wonderful cuisine and we'll be visiting you guys again very soon.

We've eaten at Meritage probably 10 times since they opened in 2011, both lunch and dinner (including tonight). The experience has been consistently a 4 to 5 star one. Only one time, pretty early on, there were some problems with the service. But the food made up for it and by now the subpar server is either long gone or has undergone serious training. This is fine dining in a small, bright, new and clean establishment. Menu is not tremendous, but many good options, and we have had all different dishes here, everything has been delicious and beautifully presented, as well as being exactly as described, and at good temperature. Servers have the menu, the specials AND your order committed to memory - no scribble pads here. They're also very knowledgeable on the ingredients and preparation. Tonight I had the pan seared scallops - Big, tender, tasty, and perfectly seared, served over herbed rice with a vegetable. My husband had the glazed grilled salmon, which was very special. Their vegetable choices are very unique, and they feature a "vegetable of the day" which you don't see very often. They are happy to let you substitute sides, and I strongly recommend their amazing potato salad as well as the grown-up macaroni and cheese. Yes, it's pricey - but this is fine dining. To be gentle on the budget, consider one of the sandwich choices with an extra side for your meal. I've tried the Tuscan chicken and the Mediterranean vegetable sandwich: both are excellent. The mussels, daily hummus, and the stuffed mushrooms are all memorable appetizers. We had dessert here one time only, and my recollection is that it was quite good. My husband raved about the filet mignon on a previous visit, oh! And the French fries are awesome! I'm going with 4.5 stars for now; the one very minor negative tonight was that I found the dinner rolls a little too crusty and they made too many crumbs when you broke them apart and tried to butter them; but that could just be my opinion. Hope to update review in the not too distant future as I have a birthday coming up! Another good thing about Meritage is that they belong to "Eat Local Cincy." Your dining dollars translate into points to redeem for gift certificates for local independent restaurants. Eat independent! Say NO to the big chains! I'm updating to 5 stars, having returned for a birthday eve dinner on May 10. The rolls were perfect this time and it was very childish of me to find fault in the original review... What can I say... Once again, professional attentive but not overbearing service, mussels in a sauce to die for with thick garlic toast ... Beefsteak thick sliced tomatoes with fresh basil and balsamic drizzle .... Perfectly done sautéed veggie pita and that amazing potato salad. And because it was a birthday celebration, we finished with Tahitian vanilla bean creme brûlée. The sound of live background music, soft classic rock guitar, a pleasant atmosphere, a consistently great experience. You'll love Meritage. Make a reservation though unless you're in the door before 6 PM!

(4)Steve W.
They've done a great job remodeling the restaurant. It looks really great. The food was great but the portions are oversized. The service was excellent.
(4)Daniel C.
I have only been here for lunch, but each time has been better than the last. The daily specials are great and the prices are more than fair for the quality of food and the thoughtfulness put into each dish. I am really looking forward to making here for dinner very soon.
(5)M M.
(2)Cheri H.
Wonderful service, friendly staff, good food. Did an excellent job with remodeling!
(4)Bernard T.
Great place! Quality Food, Service and Atmosphere.
(5)Fabian S.
We just gave the Meritage the third try during the last 18 month and it was once again a very lackluster experience. While the service has slightly improved the entrees are overpriced and in my case the fish was over cooked. The expertise of the staff how to handle wine and the wine glass with plenty of lipstick did not help the experience either. All the little mistakes and shortcuts by the staff took a lot away from the evening. Lastly: the creme brûlée is a vanilla pudding with a sugar coating!
(2)Chelsea C.
(4)Tara S.
Great wine list. Probably the best lobster tail I have ever had, no joke. It was so tender and flavorful. Mac n cheese is a must, and the veal chop was awesome. Loved it.
(5)alice s.
We have been here about 3 times. Our daughter is attending college close by, and this is our place we all love to go when we are in town. Rhonda was our waitress each time and did a great job. Great food! Great atmosphere.
