I didn't discover Chicago Gyro until after college and thankfully I still live close because this place is awesome! I normally go with the Gyro and it is amazing. This time around I tried the Philly Gyro and switched out the mayo for tzatziki sauce and it was on point ! You really get your money's worth. The Greek fries are also amazing and worth trying.

Chicago Gyros apparently moved directly across the street from their old location. I thought they had simply closed down but that does not appear to be the case. I've tried their gyros at their previous location and they were very tasty so I don't expect anything less now that they've re-opened. Very generous serving of gyro meat, crispy fries, and hearty tzatziki. Biggest con is the terrible parking situation in the UC area. They have two reserved spots in the lot behind their restaurant... but that's obviously not nearly enough.

Looks good too me! Just like every time before!! Getting a gyro with everything and banana peppers... Along with cheese fries! Take a look!

Another pre-yelp review so going back in time........ I used to frequent here as a Bearcat and they never dissappoint. The gyros and the fries are hot and simply delicious. Everything about it down to the sauce. I found that in the later times it seemed that the gyro pita got smaller but either way its still good and the meat is great! If your around check em out!

Alright first food review for my new home Cinci. Just a few blocks from my place is a nice strip of restaurants and searching yelp this placed popped up. My fellow Yelpers steered me right again because the food was bomb. Went with the basic Gyro and some Greek Fries which came out to like $8 and change. Way cheaper then the Gyros I used to get on base in Hawaii and this thing was loaded with meat. Anyone paying the $2 for additional meat is crazy because it is already overflowing. The flavors were good and everything was delicious. The fries were a little soft like another person said but still good for that style. The place is cool, air conditioning, outdoor patio, tvs and plenty of tables. Also pitcher of miller High Life for $5 plus other beers in the fridge area. Lookin forward to comin back and tryin some more of the menu!

Awesome gyros and real Chicago style Italian Beef you typically don't find outside of Chicago. They even made us up a pound of meat to go. They have Chicago Style hot dogs I will have to try next time I'm here. Fries were OK, service was good.

They have their own parking in the back which is rare for the area. Tons of menu options. I've tried the gyro, fries, and gyro salad. By the name, I was expecting boring food or something but the salad was wonderful and redeems the fried menu. I've never disliked a Greek place though. Apparently I missed their baklava. I'll have to report back on it.

I moved to Cincinnati from Chicago several years ago and ever since then it has been all but impossible to find my beloved Vienna Beef hot dogs. Enter Chicago Gyros. They offer a Chicago-style dog, of course, but also boast several other hot dog menu items (including my new favorite, the gyro dog). You can also get Italian Beef and Italian Sausage sandwiches--yum! All have satisfied my homesick craving for Chicago staple Portillo's. I've also tried the gyros, spanakopita, and Greek nachos and have been pleased with all of those. I had to knock one star off because there have been a few times where they were out of stock on quite a few beers--I had to keep coming up with a second, third, fourth choice, and eventually had to settle on whatever the server brought out (which wasn't any of the beers I had mentioned). On my most recent trip, they were even out of hamburger patties. I understand running out of a menu item on a busy day, but it is frustrating to have to put in an order four times because it turns out they are out of so many things.

Just got 2 gyros. Why all the good rating? The meat was dry and over cooked . Would give no stars if I could plus I called them and the phone number go straight to voice mail. Drove from silverton what a waste

While eating their food, it's worth 5 stars. 15 minutes later in a grease coma, it's worth 1 star. Seriously, their food is so greasy that after a gyro and fries you may likely feel ill. It's a bit too much in the calorie end of things.

So good to have some Chicago cuisine here in Cincy. I had the Chicago Style Hot Dog and absolutely loved it.

Mmmmm gyros! I always get the philly gyro (essentially like a philly cheese steak, minus the steak and insert gyro!) The combo deal with a *very* large drink and fries for 8 dollars is definitely worth it as well. The restaurant is not very presentable - but in a matter of time, this will be moot as they are moving across the street to a new location. The staff has always been friendly. Service has been prompt (minus if you want a refill...though no person should drink that much soda!) The food is pretty good as well. All in all, no complaints. This is a standard gyro joint and a great place if you want a meal to fill you up all day long.

Very solid gyro at Chicago Gyro. This is more convenient for me, even though I have discovered the little treasure Mediterranean Foods recently, so I will definitely still stop in here when I want a huge, hearty, greasy meal. I can't think of the exact price, but it's somewhere around $8-9 for a drink, a large order of fries, and a substantial gyro. I get everything on my gyro and the combo of the crispy vegetables, chewy pita, creamy tzatziki, and juicy gyro is fantastic. It's an excellent bite. A couple of knocks: The place isn't very exciting to walk into; it is very drab. Also, there have been some inconsistencies with the food, albeit minor. Bonus points for having Adam Levine work the register, though!

I like the new locaton accross the street from the old one. The parking lot around the back makes it easier to access. The gyro was really good. The tzatziki is the best. That hasn't changed. I was admiring the selection of burgers on the menu. Nice prices. I will be back more often.

I have been going here for years, excellent place. The regular gyro with everything, a huge basket of fries with it. Great price. I couldn't ask for anything more. Every time I get gyro's from somewhere else, I always see how they measure up to Chicago Gyro's. These things are awesome. Even during the lunch rush, a carry out order doesn't take too long to get. I highly recommend it.

Right across the street from Spicy Pickle sits the only gyro place in Cincinnati that I trust. While I find it sometimes hard to get there before they close because of my schedule, the meal is always worth it. Prepare to eat hearty at Chicago Gyros. The portions are gigantic and you will definitely get your money's worth. The best gyro is the spicy gyro in my book. So load up and get one now. You'll have more than enough for later.

Disappointing. The food here is dull. Got the falafel pita and it had zero flavor. The tzatziki was creamy, but didn't taste like anything. The falafel was spicy and again had no flavor. The hummus and pita is over priced and also is sub-par. Also, the guy who rang up our order didn't care as he blatantly disregarded a simple request with sarcasm. I recommend Mediterranean King instead. Tasty food for better price and the staff are friendly.

In a new location right across the street this is a frequent for my boyfriend and myself. Great food, great service all at a great price. All the reviews are right. The gyro is hands down unforgettable. You will want another one even though they could literally feed a football team. Everything is good on the menu and they have fun specials. It's quick too!!

My first real gyro was at this place. My hometown in northeast Ohio does not do good Greek like Cincinnati does, so my only knowledge of a gyro was the kind that my mom made from a grocery store kit. After one visit to Chicago Gyros I was hooked, and this became a frequent dinner stop for me and my best friend in college. It was another couple of years until I tried gyros from anywhere else, and I have yet to find one that I enjoy as much as this one. Fresh and crunchy onions, flavorful meat, and cool tzatziki sauce. Sooooo good.

The first time I ate here it was the middle of Summer. At the time they had no air conditioning, so we sat there under the hum of ceiling fans, amplified by the ceiling decorated with pressed metal. The kitchen is right next to you, though you can only see the small window with the hand written orders hanging from a wire. You seat yourself here. Nothing fancy. The menus are printed on copier paper. The waitress will come over after clearing off another table and greet you. Typically there is only one, maybe two servers at Chicago Gyros and that's all they need. The store itself is small-- kind of tucked away on West McMillan behind all the construction. I ordered a coke and a gyro and my friend ordered a gyro platter that came with a gyro, drink, and fries. It was so hot outside and not much cooler inside, but a big coke and the cool cucumber sauce on the gyro fixed that problem. The gyros themselves are delicious. Freshly made. The waitress explained that all their ingredients come from market. Now whether not that's accurate, I have no idea, but it sounded good. That would mean their crisp onions are straight from some farmer and the lamb too. I like the idea-- always a plus for me. Also, the cups they give you for drinks are huge, not that that's hugely important, but it was a plus for me. In contrast, in the winter it is very warm in the store and the hot gyros will certainly warm you up. This is a favorite spot for me when I have the time to walk there for lunch. Parking is not exactly convenient. There is a lot of construction and the only available parking close by is meter parking. But if you're willing to walk you can park in the Corryville garage. It's worth the walk, I promise. Give this place a shot. If like gyros, you'll absolutely love this place.

$5 for a huge a** Gyro with tons of meat and Tzatziki. I have nothing else to say.

The gyros are great, and the place has a wonderful gritty college atmosphere. If you are going on a Sunday, stop and pick up a Bearcash coupon book because they have a buy one get one free coupon for regular gyros. Who can say no to that?

This review is a special one... Head to Head: Gyros (Chicago Gyros vs. Areti's Gyros) I had just gone to Chicago Gyros in Clifton when the next day wine me, dine reviewed Areti's Gyros in OTR at Findlay Market. So, rather than put up a single review, why not introduce a new concept on the blog: Head to Head. A lot of what we all do as eater's is try to figure out who has the best of something, so when I think there's reason for a match-up, let's get ready to rumble! The Battle: Chicago Gyros (CG) has long been my favorite gyros (yes, that's singular) place in town (see photo on the left). Areti's Gyros (AG) got a "freakin' great gyro" review from Julie at wine me, dine me (see photo below on left). Could we compare 10 more gyros? Sure. But, the heavyweight division needs a champ to wear the belt to start. The Food: This is all about the gyros itself. Sure, both places offer other options, but more on that below. Chicago and Areti's both make a solid gyros, but in my opinion, Chicago Gyros takes the trophy hands down. And the defining characteristic that sets CG apart - a better tzatziki. At AG, the tzatziki consistency is a bit off, almost like mayonnaise. The tzatziki is so important in balancing the savoriness of the seasoned lamb, and CG's got the best balance. And on top of balance, CG's got a full-on taste explosion happening - great meat, the onion's acidity, and a cucumbery garlicly tzatiki that pulls it all together. AG's pita is a bit thinner than CG's - I prefer Chicago Gyros here as well. On both sandwiches I'd agree with wine me, dine me - leave off the tomatoes until they're in season, they're forgettable at best. The only "problem" at CG is not a problem at all - too much meat! Neither place skimps though. At Areti's, it wasn't that the gyros was bad, it was just pretty boring. In other news, Chicago Gyros also has great fries - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside (unless you get them for take out, at which point they're all soft). They're using some sort of seasoning salt for added flavor, I think it's Lowry's. I've also been known to snag a baklava on the way out the door - honey goodness. Areti's looks to have plenty of other options too (see the slideshow below for more pics), but I can't speak to the quality. The Ingredients: I'm not aware of either place using anything notable (seasonal, organic, local, etc.). Summer is surely welcome though to improve the tomatoes - I'm very, very close to a seasonal ban. The Setting, Story, and Service: I grew up on gyros. The place is closed now (and it was going downhill for many years), but when I was a baby my mom would stop there on the way from our place to Lake Michigan or the Lincoln Park Zoo. Then, when we'd do return visits, Sparta Gyros was always a big treat. In terms of setting and service, Areti's has a leg up on Chicago Gyros. The woman behind the counter was very nice, and it was a quick stop. Findlay Market was surprisingly busy on a weekday at lunch, so the atmosphere was nice for a mid-day pick-me-up. At CG, service is brusque, they don't answer the phone around lunch for pickup orders, and parking can be a bit of a pain. But, they remodeled this past year, have a few TVs with ESPN/games playing, and once you're on McMillan you have plenty of options. They should rename it Sandwich Street now that they have Penn Station, Jersey Mikes, Quizno's, Chipotle, Jimmy John's and more within 1 block. The Winner: Chicago Gyros - your new champion! If you enjoyed this review, there's more at Amateur Foodies.

Chicago Gyros is an absolutely fantastic gryo place. Just now accepting credit cards, Chicago Gyros is an affordable lunch option for UC students on the south side of campus. Offering all kinds of different gyros and even more traditional Mediterranean fare like Spankopitas and Tyropitas, there is something for everyone. While there, go ahead and have a seat because the staff does a good job and your food comes out very quickly. If you get a combo, don't be concerned about getting enough food because you get a ton of fries. Everything is a little greasy, but who cares, it all tastes great.

I am going to keep this short. My DVR is full of Doctor Who episodes and I can tell there are other people who have reviewed this place. And I agree with them. This place is tasty, fast and cheap. And the fries are awesome. I recommend the gyro with feta + light on the tzatziki. Skip the salad, because your eating a gyro. If you had wanted a salad, you would have ordered a salad.

Here's the thing - the food is really pretty good, the prices are fair, especially if you use the student discount or have a coupon from one of the many Bearcash kiosks around, and the service/wait time isn't bad at all. But nothing is amazing! The portions are solid, the salad options are fresh enough that you can get some balance, and the gyro meat is really pretty damn good. So why only 4 stars? Because literally right around the corner you can get a better gyro/chicken sharma for half the price. Go down the street to Taza, drop $5, be in and out in literally 3 minutes, and be happy. A tastier, loaded up, sandwich + fries + drink, quicker and easier. Now if you want a hot dog, burger, beer, or some crazy accompaniment to your gyro? Stay at Chicago Gyros. But for just the classic Mediterranean ish, Taza is your spot.

We really loved this place. We reached here when we were very tired and almost everything around was closed. We had gyro wraps and they were delicious. Actually they were so huge that we had a tough time finishing them! Nice and friendly service as well.

We had a serious craving for gyros on a Sunday night, but most places around us were already closed. We did a quick yelp search and found this gem. The service was very pleasant. We were seated and quickly taken care of. I was actually a little surprised how quickly the food got out to us. The gyros were absolutely delicious and the Greek fries were amazing. 5/5 would recommend

Here's the key- Order the large Greek salad with gyro meat and side of pitas (I get two plus a side of jalapeños). Make your own gyros- plus some salad. I end up with two gyros with an even mix of veggies and meat. If you order theirs they are heavy meat, light veggie- and well my waistline just can't handle that anymore. Also Greek fries are great, cheese fries not so much

I tried the appetizer sampler platter, the gyros and some baklava. The stuffed grape leaves are not a taste I'm fond of. It is cold rice in grape leaves that taste like toothpaste along with if you accidentally get shampoo in your mouth. The pita and hummus is delicious. But I would personally add some red peppers and chili powder since I like it spicy. The gyros were delicious and the Tzaki sauce complete it. The lamb and cucumber along with onions add a nice texture and flavor. The baklava is around the size of a tortilla chip and is $3 it's good but a bit expensive for the amount.

Looking for a casual dining experience in a college district with amazing food? Here you go. Located right on the corner next to a parking garage...it's been our winter comfort food pitstop. My SO discovered this place on a spontaneous occasion/ random pang of hunger. When we were in the area he shared his amazing experience and I was sold...let's try out the place that sells Chicago Gyros. Well to no surprise I can say I love this man for a reason. The gyros are great! (recommend getting the plain gyros) The meat is juicy and the slices are thick and plentiful. We always order a side of fries and end up regretting that decision. Be prepared...it's a lot of food. I tried the Philly Cheese Gyro...it's exactly what you'd expect but being a fan of the classic....I can't help but to advocate more the plain gyro. Note to the wise...stay away from the baklava...I decided to order it on a whim thinking, "it's small why not?" I ended saying "Oh no..." after the first bite. It's really hard and does not have the rich indulgently sweet and nutty taste that usually accommodates this snack. But other than that over all my stomach consistently thanks me after each visit.

I love Chicago Gyros, and I have since it was at it's old location across the street from it's current location. They have amazing Hot Dogs, Underrated Burgers, and delicious and unique Gyros. AMAZING Greek Nachos that are to die for. It's really affordable and you get a lot of quality food for a good price. I'm a creature of habit and I usually always get the gyro combo. I get a Chicken Philly Gyro with lots of french fries and a big ass drink. I think that runs me about $8. They now have a small bar with a decent amount of craft brews as well. Even though we moved out of Clifton we still go here once a week. I would suggest to always go during the week, and during the day for the best service. I would also suggest not going on Sundays. Sundays, I don't know what it is, but the service is always HORRIBLE. The servers who are there on Sundays never get our orders right, and the cooks over cook your food and it tastes awful. The inconsistency of the service here is why they are not getting five stars.

I went to this place on my luch break...BAD IDEA. Although I get an hour for lunch, I spent over half my break there. It was a Saturday around noon..NO ONE was there eating, however I ordered a chili cheese dog and ended up waiting over 20 minutes for it. The man working the register apologized for it, but I couldnt help but to frequently look back into the kitchen wondering WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG. I was told they had an issue with the chili earlier that morning. Anyhow, what REALLY turned me off was to look back there and see they guy putting the onions and cheese on my hot dog WITH NO GLOVES. Can anyone SCREAM health department. When I FINALLY got my food, I just left, with a free brownie, thank goodness because I surely wasnt going to eat the hot dog....the chili WAS ICE COLD. I still to this day cant do anything but SMDH. Thanks but I wont be back.

Chicago Gyros seems like the epitome of a collegiate food dive: generous portions for the price, quick food prep and service, somewhat grungy decor, and competent and friendly service by college (or at least college-age) kids. But given the relatively simple and not-exactly-great food, I'm not sure I get the hoopla expressed in most of these reviews. Chicago Gyros is pretty much a standard-issue college-area gyro joint: Most of the menu consists of a bunch of different types of gyros and burgers, served with pretty average french fries. We got the gyros--I can't comment on the burgers--and they were fine but not the freshest-tasting or best I've ever had. (For instance, they're not on the same level as the gyros made by the guys at the new-ish Ali Baba over on Red Bank.) For about $8.50, you can get a platter with a giant gyro, small Greek salad, fries, and a drink, which is a nice bargain. The salad itself, though, consisted largely of iceberg lettuce. The wife ordered tiropita as a side and said it was only OK. In short, there's nothing particularly wrong with Chicago Gyros, but from what we could tell, nothing particularly great about it either. If you're in the neighborhood, it's a good, cheap food stop, but not much else. One goofy side note on our visit: Right after we walked in--a few minutes past noon on a Sunday--one employee who was prepping the place for the day rushed around to turn the restaurant's two televisions on. I figured he was getting ready for crowds wanting to catch NFL games, but the lad tuned one TV to a car-chase show on a true-crime channel and the other to an infomercial for shoe inserts. Go figure...

How have I not written about the place is a beyond me. I go here at least once a week against my better judgement because I have a soft spot for a delicious GYRO. If you are familiar with the Clifton area you definitely know where the best place to get a gyro is - and that is Chicago Gyros. The place they are currently occupying is totally different than the tiny hot corner where they used to be. The new place across the street actually has working A/C and plenty of tables and booth. Food here is a absolutely awesome. It does not matter if you are in for a quick snack or in the mood for a giant gyro their is something here for everyone. My favorite has to be the regular gyro or the philly gyro. The menu has all the staples you can expect from a gyro joint.

Chicago Gyros has the best gyro in Cincinnati. This city has some pretty darn good gyros too. Just take a look at Areti's in Findlay Market. The reason I love Chicago Gyros is for a couple of reasons. First, and most obvious, is the gyro's they are serving up are ridiculously fresh, hot, flavorful, and bursting with meat. Literally, the size of this gyro is unbelievable and I challenge you to finish one without be stuffed. They offer extra meat for $2.00 but seriously, this is not needed. The Tzatziki sauce, onions, and tomato are all there and all round out a perfectly balanced gyro. The new location is also amazing. The space is large, modern, and decorated to make you feel welcome and want to dine-in. The menu is also something that sets this gyro shop apart from others. It's large, much like the meals. Fries, falafel's, Chicago style hot dogs, you name it they most likely have it and it's most likely delicious. Whenever I'm craving a gyro, Chicago Gyros is my first choice. Give em' a shot. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

If you have a hankering for a gyro with meat piled high, Chicago Gyros is the place to go. I'm a huge gyro fan and I must say, Chicago Gyros have the best gyros in town. The lunch special comes with a gyro, fries and a drink. It could easily be two meals and often is two meals for me. I suggest ordering the Greek fries with any meal you get. Fresh french fries have a bit of feta cheese and seasoning sprinkled on top while a side of Greek dressing is served with it! If you're in a rush, service is relatively fast. Just an FYI!

I'll start by saying this place is delicious! Any time I want a huge, delicious, American gyro day or night, I go here. The staff is always friendly and their is plenty of room inside to eat or take it on the road. I always go with the classic lamb gyro with their delicious cucumber sauce. Many people also get the Philly Gyro which has peppers and cheese and swear by it, whatever your taste! When you get it, the meat is piled high and every bite is delicious!!! My only fault when ordering is their French fries are nothing to write home about. Now I may be bias because I LOVE frenchfries, but I find then to be bland and soggy, when I want crisp and salty. Overall a great place to grab some gyros that will satisfy your hunger.

Good stuff for a lunch. Great staff. Taste good but not nessarly high quality food. But if you don't mind dropping 15 buck to treat yourself to lunch and a beer it perfect when in the area.

I've been a fan of this place for years, before they opened up their new and improved location/menu across the street. This is my favorite place to go for gyros because they are absolutely delicious, not that greasy, and portions are very generous.. and their french fries with cheese sauce are the BOMB! They also added Chicago dogs to their menu and burgers, but if you're a first timer here, definitely go for the gyro!

iLove this place, they prob have the best gyros, they are packed with meat. It's very straight forward, get the Bearcat coupon book, they have great coupons (25% off) with UC I.D. and the coupon. I use it often... they have a nice happy hour 2pm-7pm as well...

I love the Chicago Hot Dogs. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable. Greasy? I had to have surgery on my stomach at Good Samaritan and their food does not upset my stomach. I seriously doubt anyone on this page has a more upset stomach than I do.

In my opinion, one of the top 10 burger places in town. I come here to get my greasy burger/fry fix. They have many burgers on the menu but I really enjoy the Greek, 1000 island and regular burger the most. Each burger is between $6-8 but add $4 and you get fries and a drink. A pretty good deal. The fries are also excellent. Crispy with fantastic seasoning. The gyros are also really good, altho a bit messy. But a non-messy gyro probably isn't a good one anyway. Don't go expecting a fancy burger place. This is a college fast food joint so it's fairly clean but it has a dingy personality to it. But I do think that's a good thing as it shows me that they're focusing on making quality burgers and gyros which I always get. Never had a bad meal here

Two of my girlfriends and I enjoyed man-size servings for cheap! I enjoyed the chicken gyro filled to the brim with crunchy onions and fresh tomatoes with greek yogurt and spices. It was too good. I also had a large pepsi and french fries. My bill was only $6.00. Seriously, the best lunch bargain in town!

Awesome gyros and real Chicago style Italian Beef you typically don't find outside of Chicago. They even made us up a pound of meat to go. They have Chicago Style hot dogs I will have to try next time I'm here. Fries were OK, service was good.

Last time I ate here it was in the building across the street (so years ago!). Today, I got a chicken gyro and cheese fries for $9. The chicken was bland, and the cheese for my fries was obviously Cheez Whiz (or something like it) in a cup. I guess for campus it's fine, but I'd suggest going elsewhere for good gyros. The service was good though!

One of my favorite gyro spots in Cincinnati! Gyros are excellent and portion size is quite generous. I ordered double meat my first time there. BIG mistake. I had to eat my gyro with a fork. Needless to say, I finished my entire gyro with ease. #fat

Love their new location, although it isn't really new anymore. They have a pretty good beer selection as well. I used to stop in the old location all the time after class to pick up some baklava. This was the first time I dined in. Boyfriend had the super Greek salad with chicken and it was really tasty. I had the gyro provolone burger and loved it! It was gyro meat topped w provolone and served on a bun with traditional burger toppings and their taz sauce. Great spin on a traditional gyro. Fries were tasty too and I'm not a big French fry eater. Definitely plan to return in the near future.

I love, love, love gyros. Sure, I pronounce it "jai-roh" not "hee-roh" or however it's supposed to be said, but I love them nonetheless. I heard great things about Chicago Gyros so it was only a matter of time before my taste buds would drag me there. My boyfriend and I both got a regular gyro and soda, and my boyfriend also got a side of fries (making his a combo). I appreciate that the size of the cups of soda are HUGE. The fries were great, although I'm not used to gyros coming with them on the side. My favorite part of the gyros themselves was the meat-to-pita ratio. There was so much gyro meat piled onto the pita it was unbelievable! It was served fresh and hot, which is more than what I could say about gyros that we ordered at a certain Mediterranean place on Ludlow... *cough-cough* Our total came to $16 even, and I think that is a more than reasonable price for such a filling and delicious meal. We'll definitely be back!

I can only comment on the Gyro and the Chicago dog. The gyro was great. Very good pita, well seasoned meat and always good to see it come off a spit. The onions were just on top and just simply fell off, but the tomatoes on the bottom were a nice touch. Then the taz sauce as they call their taziki, wow, soo very good! The Chicago dog was ok. When I'm craving it I'll come here, but the bun fell apart on the bottom and ruined the experience of the dog. Overall, I'd come back jut for the great gyro and be happy and satisfied.

I keep coming and it keeps getting better. Please try the super Greek salad, it's delectable. Small if you want it healthy. Normal if you're feeling gluttonous and it's so damn cheap. Love it.

If you're a native Chicagoan stuck in cincy and feeling homesick head over here. The most authentic Chicago-style cuisine you'll find in Ohio. The gyro, hot dog, and Italian beef are the exact same as you'll find in Chicago. Definitely find this place and give it a try

    (5)
  • Corinne H.

They must have recently changed their tzatziki recipe, because now it's super thick, reeeealllyyy garlicky, and there wasn't enough for the whole sandwich. It used to be more yogurt-y, which the boyfriend and I both preferred. This time around the pita was dry, and too small to wrap around the gyro meat. If we went back, it would only be for the fries which are still excellent. Maybe if the sauce changes back well give it another shot but for now, it's Areti's at Findlay market for the two of us.

I've been to Chicago Gyro a couple times but they have one of the best gyros I've ever had and their fries are really good too. They have other things on the menu like hamburgers and hotdogs. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend.

  • Whitney G.

The first and only time I've been here, I ordered a jalepeno burger and ended up with a bacon cheeseburger? My two friends had gyros and ended up sick as dogs. They couldn't eat for days. Me personally, this place freaks me out.

Warning: do not eat here if you are not very hungry! Chicago Gyros was my first gyro experience, and I'm so glad I started here! I've heard good things about this place so I decided to go last night since I was in the area anyway. So about the gyro- deceptive! When I saw it, I thought, "Looks good. Looks pretty hearty." That was an understatement! I was barely able to finish it and I was stuffed! The gyro meat was well seasoned and I had sauteed peppers and onions on mine and they were cooked perfectly. I will say that the meat was just a little salty, but it was still very good. I can't wait to go back and try something else off the menu. The service was fast and friendly. After I placed my order, I was told that they had run out of chicken but they were cool about changing my order and accomodating me.

  • Becca E.

The gyro is one of the most perfect foods know to man. It is so simple, taziki sauce , meat, onion and tomatoes all nestled together in a thick pita. Not as good as the doeners I ate when I was in Europe, but it is an adequate substitute between oversea trips. Chicago Gyros is one of the best places in town to get a gyro. The portion is huge, so be prepared and you probably want to split the french fry. However, there is a great meal deal you can get with a gyro, drink and fries. The interior isn't anything fancy but the staff is pretty attentive. As with most Clifton places, parking is the best hassle. If you have room (which is unlikely) you can also grab a piece of baklava on the way out.

  • Rebecca H.

This place has the best gyros you are going to find in Cincinnati. You get a ton of food for the (cheap) price. I hear they sell other things besides gyros, but I would not know.

Delicious. This is my place for burgers, gyros and falafel. I always have such a hard time deciding. The burgers and thick and juicy. They toast the wraps for the gyros and falafels just right. And the fries... hot and crispy. I suggest getting any of these three items in a combo with the fries and a drink. Its really cheap like 7 bucks or so. Service is fast. Menu also includes some great greek foods like spanakopita.

Okay. Now that I've read the other reviews, I'll try the place again sometime...maybe. But overall, I just felt "yuck". The service was just bad. I was waiting for the server, who was wearing a sloppy tank top and shorts and seemed to be more involved with her cell phone than working, to pop her gum. I ordered the greek potato salad, and was absolutely disgusted when she brought it. It looked NASTY!! It was a plate of pale cubed, wet hot potatoes. It looked like frozen Southern hashbrowns that had been microwaved. They sat it a puddle of water(?) as if they hadn't been drained after being cooked. Feta cheese had been sprinkled over the potatoes and melted. Around the edge of the plate, in separate little piles, were a few greek olives, a few rings of onio (gigantic thick slices), some banan peppers...and oh, one more thing. Can't remember it. It was served with "Greek dressing" on the side. I was immediately "put off" by the awkward and unappetizing presentation, but my father-in-law was paying and I didn't want to be rude. I drizzled some of the dressing over the potatoes and tried to cut the onions up, but they were too huge to work through. So, I tried a couple forkfuls of the potatoes with the feta and dressing. Yuck!! Just revolting. When the server brought the gyros, I asked her to take it away. I told her it just wasn't what I thought it was going to be and it just didn't appeal to me. I don't know if she charged us for them, or not, as I didn't see the bill. The gyro was good. It had only the tzaziki sauce and a little tomato on it. My father-in-laws' chicken gyro also had lettuce on it. I was surprised that mine didn't. Also, the place I usually get gyros serves banana peppers automatically, and that wasn't on it either. However, I won't "ding" them on that...it might not be "usual" and it might have been served exactly like the menu description. I did like the pita, the meat and the sauce. They were all tasty. The server had to be flagged down to bring drink refills. She gets a definite ding, here, because they were "low" or "empty" when she brought the food. And instead of checking on us, or bringing them, she was texting...which was just annoying. We actually got the attention of another worker who saw us looking around. He said something to her, she looked over at us, and then went back to texting. So I had to actually motion her over and ask for more drinks. Overall...gyro--Good. Potato salad--nasty. Service--poor. It wouldn't be worth it to me to go back again. My college son who was also along, agreed. (It was his first time there, too.) Didn't say anything to his grandpa...didn't want to hurt any feelings,,,don't know what his take was. That being said, everybody else on this site is very complimentary, so maybe we just had a singularly bad experience??

Another pre-yelp review so going back in time........ I used to frequent here as a Bearcat and they never dissappoint. The gyros and the fries are hot and simply delicious. Everything about it down to the sauce. I found that in the later times it seemed that the gyro pita got smaller but either way its still good and the meat is great! If your around check em out!

While eating their food, it's worth 5 stars. 15 minutes later in a grease coma, it's worth 1 star. Seriously, their food is so greasy that after a gyro and fries you may likely feel ill. It's a bit too much in the calorie end of things.

The price is great. The size is great. The flavor is perfect!

I've been to Chicago Gyro a couple times but they have one of the best gyros I've ever had and their fries are really good too. They have other things on the menu like hamburgers and hotdogs. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend.

The first and only time I've been here, I ordered a jalepeno burger and ended up with a bacon cheeseburger? My two friends had gyros and ended up sick as dogs. They couldn't eat for days. Me personally, this place freaks me out.

The gyros are great, and the place has a wonderful gritty college atmosphere. If you are going on a Sunday, stop and pick up a Bearcash coupon book because they have a buy one get one free coupon for regular gyros. Who can say no to that?

My first real gyro was at this place. My hometown in northeast Ohio does not do good Greek like Cincinnati does, so my only knowledge of a gyro was the kind that my mom made from a grocery store kit. After one visit to Chicago Gyros I was hooked, and this became a frequent dinner stop for me and my best friend in college. It was another couple of years until I tried gyros from anywhere else, and I have yet to find one that I enjoy as much as this one. Fresh and crunchy onions, flavorful meat, and cool tzatziki sauce. Sooooo good.

This place has the best gyros you are going to find in Cincinnati. You get a ton of food for the (cheap) price. I hear they sell other things besides gyros, but I would not know.

Two of my girlfriends and I enjoyed man-size servings for cheap! I enjoyed the chicken gyro filled to the brim with crunchy onions and fresh tomatoes with greek yogurt and spices. It was too good. I also had a large pepsi and french fries. My bill was only $6.00. Seriously, the best lunch bargain in town!
