Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This place is great! The food was delicious, hot and very fresh! We had a torta, a chicken enchilada, a steak taco and some cheese dip. It was all really great and the meat all seemed to be good quality. The chorizo was better than we have been able to find anywhere else around town, so far! We will definitely be back. Plus the owner offered to show us around after our meal. They have a cute little patio and a large bar area. We will definitely be back. The only drawback was that the meal took a little longer than I would have expected, so I just wouldn't go if I needed to get a meal quickly. I certainly think the quality of food made up for the lack of speed though!

I've been here before and I wasn't impressed. My sister wanted to try Avocados so we went again last Saturday night. I was really hoping that they would redeem themselves! While management was very friendly and on top of it, I still just think the food is average. At least they had guacamole this time. However, it wasn't very good guacamole - I really hate tomatoes in guac. And, it needed more lime and salt. My sister got enchiladas and she LOVED the sauce that was on them - she told me about 4 times how awesome it was. I know she really enjoyed hers. She didn't dislike the guacamole as much as I did either. :) I got the shrimp chimichanga - it was fine. Not bad. Not good. Just okay. While the service was friendly, it was VERY slow. We waited a good hour for our check - if my sister and I wouldn't have been so chatty, it would have been a huge deal that it was taking so long. Although my sis was a fan, I'm still not.

I tried this place for the first time on Bogo margarita Wednesday and was very impressed! Staff was very kind, service was excellent and the Enchiladas Toluca were PHENOMENAL!! Will definitely return here soon!

My sister and I went here late on a Wednesday evening. I think we were the last customer's of the day. The food was just okay. I saw part of mine being heated in a microwave, bc you can see into the kitchen from where I was sitting and that kinda killed it a little for me. The restaurant itself also felt a little dirty, maybe its because it was the end of the night. I would give them another shot, but ultimately, I would rather just go to Cancun on Glenway I think.

Good authentic Mexican with reasonable prices and great daily specials. Guac was exceptional and you must try the flan!

We absolutely love Avocados! Great atmosphere, delicious fresh authentic Mexican food, friendly service. We will definitely be back!

Wow! I just just left. It's the coolest new place! Today's special was fajitas but I had a chimichanga. It was stuffed full of barbacoa and had a side of rice. The bartender, "Mona",was really friendly. She showed me around the place and was a lot of fun. I'll definitely be back as soon as I can. I wanna tell everybody about this place. Next time I go ,I'm bringing a group for Mona's margaritas.

This is a first time for my husband and I! He happened to notice it Groupon because of the name. We decided to purchase the Groupon and give it a try. He had the fajita burrito and I had a regular burrito and they were both fantastic! The Margarita was great and the food and service was quick. We will definitely be back!

As always the food here is excellent. I have yet to try something here that I have not liked.

Great to see something new and different when I am wanting Mexican food. I and born and raised in Texas, living in Cincinnati for 3 years now, and struggle to find places that have that authentic flavor I am accustomed to. The food is very good, fresh, and very reasonably priced. I went for lunch and was able to be in and out in 30 minutes. Previous reviews about poor service must have been read by management because there was no issue at all. It's a small restaurant so don't expect 5 star dining service, but I was waited on within 1 minute, quickly offered specials for the day as well as a brief menu tour. Food came out within 10 minutes and my drink was refilled anytime it got low. That's what I want when I'm at a casual restaurant. I liked the fact that the owner of the place made it a point to have a conversation about my dinner, that personal touch ensured I'll be back and recommend to all my friends.

Tried them again and while the service was abysmal the food was better. They must've got a lot of complaints about the chips because they've changed them and they're acceptable now. I've also learned the secret to liking their food. Their salsa is too plain and is just tomatoes and garlic. Order some pico de gallo and mix it in with the salsa, this makes it very good. Then take your salsa concoction and put some on your tacos as they too are much too plain tasting without it. The guacamole is pretty good on its own but I'd recommend getting some lime wedges and squeezing it into it. Having said all this, I'm not a fan of having to order other stuff to doctor my food into tasting good so if I want Mexican I will be dining elsewhere unfortunately because I really wanted to like this place. Also I really have to believe that all of these 5 star reviews are plants and must be friends of the owner as there is no way anybody in their right mind would rate this place as five stars. Either that or they are very liberal with their ratings, me I reserve five stars for something Jeff Ruby or equivalent.

I love Avocados. The food is amazing. Tacos are served with radishes and cilantro, not lettuce and orange cheese. The chef takes a lot of pride in his work and Cheviot is lucky to have such a gem. The decor is clean, bright, airy and fun which helps because you're going to be there a while. The service is wretched. I've seen people walk out without paying and regular customers waiting on new customers. For me, it's worth it because the food is that good and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way (see my prior sentence about customers waiting on customers.) If I get tired of waiting, I just go next door to the connected Sky Room, a cool little aviation themed bar, and get a drink from the bar. If you're lucky they might have some home made Sangria left.

Very fresh Mexican restaurant. Liked it very well and plan to revisit and put it on our list of restaurants we choose from.

Food and margaritas are great but the service was terrible both time I came here! I was there about 10 days after it opened and about 3 days ago

We went there on Father's Day. It is more on the authentic side which we like. I had the chili Colorado which, for 10$, was skimpy on the serving. Way over valued. My son got the fajitas for 9$ which was about right and my wife got Asada tacos 2.75$/ea which was a bit pricy for the serving. Overall they were all good in the taste department. Note that the more authentic it is the more likely it will be served on the bland side but their pico de gallo helps in that area. The waitress was friendly but of an oriental heritage and it seemed there may have been a language barrier between us and her and the cooks. I would give service low marks but everything else good. Lots of potential!!!

This place has horrible service. My friends and I got simple meals and we were there for an hour and 40 minutes. It took 20 minutes just to get our margaritas. The margs were delicious, but the wait and service were not worth it. The waitress forgot multiple things that we ordered as well. I think I'll only go back for a marg or 5.

I really enjoy their tacos, but service is lacking. After waiting 15 minutes to order (with only one other table seated), we waiting 20 minutes for our food. We just got tacos, which are pretty good especially for the price. The chips, though, are not good enough to waste calories on. They are thin and oily without any salt. I'd recommend getting carry out or enjoying a drink and Sky bar next door and ordering it over, but don't go if you're in a hurry or hoping for friendly service.

Went in for lunch. We were one of two tables. Server was very slow. We sat for about 20 minutes before ordering. Never refilled salsa. Took 45 minutes to get food. Took another 15 to get check. Total lunch was 1:35. The cook didn't understand what my order was and it was actually the daily special written on the glass near front door. Server came to table twice to get order. Ridiculous.

I was a little hesitant to give this place a try. I heard they recently opened and on top of that, I had just returned from a vacation in Mexico where I was eating local, authentic cuisine. Avocados did not disappoint!! The food and service was fantastic! The menu has a unique selection, the variety catered to every person in my group, and each dish I sampled around the table was better than the next. It is obvious that the owner places a great deal of value in working with quality ingredients and creating an authentic experience. Avocados is definitely worth the visit!

Went here with my daughter and husband on a week night. Service was excellent and the bathroom and restaurant were clean. I liked the decor. The food was bland but still enjoyable. I don't know a lot about traditional Mexican food but I enjoyed the guacamole and enchiladas. I was most impressed by the service. Our waitress was the bartender, and we thought she was very attentive and sweet to our daughter. I would recommend it and will be going back very soon!

We had heard this was authentic Mexican, but the menu offered pretty much the typical Mexican restaurant fare. There were 3 of us, and all of us found our food to be extremely bland. My friend ordered the quesadilla specifically because it was supposed to be served with cilantro and lime. It had neither. Also, the restaurant had an overpowering musty smell. All in all, it could have been MUCH better.

Really dig this place. GREAT AUTHENTIC MEXICAN TACOS! I am truly excited to have a food joint so close that can do a Barbacoa taco right.

Very authentic. The enchiladas with the shredded pork topping was excellent. I highly recommend this place.

Our new favorite Mexican restaurant! The food is delicious and so fresh tasting. Not the mush you usually get served at other Mexican places, which come out to your table in a blink of an eye. You may have to wait a little longer here for your food, but it's worth it. It's a small place in the middle of Cheviot, so they typically have one or two wait staff working. The service has been fine, but when they get a crowd, you may just have to wait a tad more on getting your drinks or chips refilled. Hopefully once the popularity picks up, they can staff more. We would hate to see this place go! Check out Avocados!

We tried Avocados on the recommendation of a friend. I ordered the tacos, one each of chicken, pork and steak. I ate them in that order and each was better than the prior. I felt they were a little plain on toppings, but maybe that's what makes them more authentic? The guacamole was good, but I think the larger portion is nearly the same amount just served with some tomato wedges. It was loud but no more than the average restaurant these days. Children's chicken fingers were very spicy, esp for a kids meal. We informed the owner who was friendly and listened intently. I would go back with hopes that they will improve a couple things.

Unlike some posts, we were immediately served after being escorted to a quiet outdoor patio. The Margarita was perfect. The food was authentically Mexican, not Tex Mex. The veges were grilled to perfection, not too soggy. Several servers brought the food out together so the five in our party feasted at the same time. The owner came out to greet us and seemed involved in every aspect if the business. Avocados will definitely be on our top local places to eat!

After looking for some Mexican food other than chain fare or downtown hipster vibe, we decided to try Avacados. We were actually pleasantly surprised! I had the shrimp chimichanga and my husband had the enchiladas supreme. The flavors were awesome......and we eat a lot of Mexican! We ate on the restaurant side and finished with some after dinner drinks at the Sky Room bar. Service was awesome and very friendly! We will be back soon!! Very exciting establishment for Cheviot!!

Just got home from giving this place a try and we are so happy that we did. The food was better than expected. I'm so happy that there is now somewhere GOOD to eat at in the neighborhood....all of the diners are a waste of time with garbage food. Vitor's is good but expensive. This place is our new favorite. My bf had one of their giant burritos. He wasn't sure he'd like it but ended up eating the whole thing. The chicken was soft and tender, not dry and chewy like at a lot of Mexican restaurants. I shared beans and rice, pico de gallo and queso dip with our two toddlers. Everything was just how we like it. And our bill was just under twenty dollars!!! After eating we went to see the bar next door. There is a cute little outside area where we met a very happy little man named September. The music was good and for a minute I forgot that we were in Cheviot. The only negative for me was the chips and salsa as others mentioned. Really just the chips. And it's only a tiny negative The salsa is the same as at Cancun or anywhere. If the chips were homemade, I'd not hesitate to say the food here is better than at Nada (where I'm not sure they make their own chips either).
