While the restaurant portion of the Oaks is also fantastic, this review is for our May 2015 wedding reception: The location: The banquet area is just gorgeous and we got some really unique photos from the balcony. The dance floor is small, but we had a smaller wedding (about 100 guests) and didn't have tons of people dancing, so it worked fine for us. Our guests loved having the outdoor space on the patio and lawn to spread out (and in some cases get away from the music). Plus, the view of the lake is just fantastic. We got some amazing photos at sunset! The people: Glenda, the event coordinator, and Jan, the in-house florist/decorator, do a fantastic job and were hands-down my favorite vendors to work with. They were responsive, friendly and professional, and their tips and questions really helped me think through and plan various parts of the event. The planning process was thorough, the event went smoothly, and all our decorations and flowers looked great. (We even had Jan do our ceremony flowers, which she delivered off-site.) Anyone else I talked or worked with was courteous and helpful as well. The food: Delicious, as it has been every time I've eaten at the Oaks. They have a very large banquet menu to choose from which can be a little overwhelming, so we did the "tasting" dinner (they give you a gift card to use on dinner). The only catch is that the banquet options you want to try may or may not be on the menu since it changes so often, but they can sort of approximate things if they have the ingredients or point to a similar alternative. For example, chicken piccata is on the banquet menu, but the night we went to taste they were offering veal piccata. We ended up gong with peppercorn-crusted filet medallions, chicken piccata and a vegetarian pasta dish--our guests loved it! Overall, you may pay a little more per head at the Oaks versus other places but for the view and ambiance, excellent staff, and high-quality food it's totally worth it. I would highly recommend this venue to future brides!

I was very surprised by this quaint little venue. As we were approaching (mind you, it was 45+ minutes from Cleveland), I kept asking myself "Where are we going?". We were traveling here for a wedding and when we finally arrived, I felt as if we had just parked in someone's front lawn. It is a very small venue, but it definitely added to the charm. The inside is split into a few different areas. You have the dining room to the right which is a bit of a maze. To the left, you have a 2-tier reception area for larger parties. All of the inside is very old-ish--I'm guessing it is the original interior of the place and has never changed. In the back is a beautiful green space that leads right to the lake. There is a patio that wraps around the back of the lodge. There is also a walkway with beautiful stone pillars with any ivy/vine top. Beautiful location for a wedding! The biggest surprise of the night was the food. Like many weddings, this was served buffet style and had your typical line up of green beans, mashed potatoes, rolls, a beef, chicken and fish selection. But the fish, salmon, was served with crab meat. The chicken was topped with bleu cheese. I don't know what kind of beef I ate, but I can tell you that it was good. Oh and I can't forget the stuffed mushroom I had for an app - yum! Overall, if you have an event with less than 100 guests, this is the venue for you. I also would like to try this place for just a regular dinner!

Beautiful venue. It was a little warm and buggy this day, but the lake view from the patio is great. The food was adequate, Not outstanding as the prices would suggest. The petite dishes are really petite. More like appetizers. I had the veal piccatta. Nicely prepared and presented. The veal was properly cooked and well seasoned. The green beans and potato side dishes were tasty as well. Very creative cocktail too. If you're looking for a romantic dinner by a lake, this is a good choice, just beware of the high prices!

Now I could easily leave 5-stars but I know any great restaurant (which this is) always has room for improvement..... But not too much in this humble reviewers opinion. We had heard of this establishment from some research and friends who had dinned there before. So we took a drive out from Portage Lakes (so. Akron area) to see what it was all about. A beautiful setting, right on the lake with a great patio and views of the sunset. We immediately made a reservation for one of our weekly "date nights". We arrived and were seated promptly, our server was polite, attentive and knowledgable about the menu. They had a nice wine list and we ordered a bottle for dinner. The menu is wide and has depth as well. Lots of great choices and worthy of repeated visits to work our way through again and again. Nice job and kudos to all. We are fans and will spread the word. Worth the drive from Portage Lakes for sure.

This place is fantastic. So far, it is my favorite place in the Medina/Lodi/Seville area. Wish there were changing tables in the mens' and womens' bathrooms, though!

Great place. Variety of menu selection and appetizers. You overlook Chippewa Lake, and in the summer, the outdoor seating area is charming and gives a great view of the lake. My favorite item is their shrimp and artichoke pasta and they also have an excellent breaded veal. The wine list is surprisingly good and they have a cozy bar area to relax before or after dinner. Parking is easy in their large lot, and free!!

This is a secret gem! We live in California but are sure to hit the Oaks multiple times every summer that we visit Ohio. The lake view is spectacular, the food is fantastic and the service is phenomenal. Sit outside and be sure to plan your meal time with the sunset. There is live music on the weekend. Incredible ambience. You will not be disappointed.

Truly beautiful views and enchanting atmosphere. Unfortunately I think this works to the customers disadvantage as the food and service leave much to be desired. Our server was very pleasant however minimally attentive. You are not seated with a menu from the hostess and in our case left idle for 15 solid minutes before caving and awkwardly flagging down a staff member for service. Food was overall mediocre, over priced, and served cold. Throughout the dining experience our server took excessive amounts of time to return to the table to take orders, bring drinks, and check in despite (in her words) the restaurant being "dead". The restaurant has history and the lake views are incredible however not worth the dining experience.
