Very good food, outstanding employees. They care about their customers. I have been a customer for over 10 years and I would recommend this place for an excellent meal.

Went back for the first time in a long time, having moved 35 miles away. We had a party of 4 plus a baby. Service was great, food excellent, prices value packed - in short, everything I remembered and like about this place. We were there for lunch which is very modestly priced for the quality, quantity and selection.

Love this place! The interior of the restaurant is mediocre but the food is fantastic and the service prompt and attentive. I especially love what's on the Korean menu...my favorite is the crispy sweet and sour beef, Yummy!!

My favorite Chinese place. My family has been going here for as long as I can remember (15+ years) and every other Chinese place I eat at gets compared to here. The place is clean and well-lit, with a quiet and casual atmosphere, though it's very cozy and not pretentious. The owners and staff are all very friendly, and if you pay attention, you'll see there are more than a few regulars who come in - this place is very popular. Food is very fresh, not the cheapest but way better than any other place I've dinned at for this type of food in the area, so the tiny price jump is worth it. The portions are pretty big, too, so be hungry.

Perfect Chinese food! I am a native Chinese and I cannot believe there's such a restaurant that serves REAL Chinese food. Peking Duck and BBQ ribs are my favorite. If you are cool with noodles, I strongly recommend the seafood noodle soup and Zhajiang noodle. Also, the waiters are all nice. I have already considered it as my weekend dinner place.

New to area and ordered takeout here tonight. When I first went in a couple days ago to get a takeout menu, the place looked a little dingy. Sweet and sour chicken was smothered in sauce, and the worst part is the fried rice was cold almost still frozen! First and last experience here. Also tried China Cottage just down the street this week. They are more expensive but quality is 100% better!

Ate there yesterday. The food was delicious. I look everywhere for almond boneless chicken (like they had at Ma's and Mark Pi's. ). North China did not have it on the menu but they were willing to try to make it- wonderful. Great hot and sour soup and egg rolls. Hot mustard will clear your sinuses!

If I ever had any inspiration to go to Mongolia, it would be from the chicken I ate here. I grew up in Dayton, so ive eaten my fair share of dishes from North China, and its always a great experience. This is one of the only restaurants that I crave when I am back in town for a visit. One of the first things I must mention is the phenomenal service when you dine in or carry out. They are always ready to seat you, and you will never find your drink empty. You will never be wondering where the waiter is or how long your food will be. Super friendly folks who know how to run a family business. Great old school Chinese decor, and warm family feel to the restaurant which I love. The lunch special is a great deal. Every combo comes with a cup of soup (hot and sour, egg drop, or wanton) a crab angle/Rangoon, and a chicken wing. They also bring you a pot of hot tea to your table along with some crispy wontons to snack on. I am a huge fan of the Mongolian chicken as well as the mongolian beef. The honey-esque glaze on the chicken mixed with the onions and spices served with a side of fried rice is perfect. So delicious, and would definitely recommend. My full lunch combo, with all the soup and crab rangoon and chicken wing, came to a whopping $7.45. How could that be any flippin better? If youre ever in the area, I would recommend this spot for sure for sure.

I did a little exploring around Dayton a few weeks ago... I'll start off by echoing what Brian C. said about some of the best service you'll see at a Chinese restaurant. The service here is smooth as silk. The staff here works the dining room like a great team should. The younger Mexican server and the middle aged Asian man made sure there was no lag time between appetizers, soup and the entree. The server started off by dropping off a bowl of those complimentary crispy wontons and some sweet and sour sauce for me to munch on. Before I knew it I had a cup of thick Hot and Sour Soup in front of me. It's has a great rich smokey flavor and it's got plenty of the good stuff in it....not just broth. The lunch combo by the way comes with a chicken wing, a crab rangoon and the soup. I give him additional props because when I ordered the Schezuan Shrimp, he informed me that theirs was breaded shrimp in a sauce with no vegetables. That's definitely not what I wanted so I explained what I was looking for. He recommended the Spicy Shrimp with Vegetables which was actually quite good. It came out scalding hot just like it should. This is a classic, slightly kitschy, old school Chinese American restaurant. If you've got a craving for some of that familiar Chinese comfort food that we love, then this is the place for you.

If not the worst meal we have had, it was close. Over cooked shrimp in sweet and sour. Meats in the low main was like it had bee boiled. Staff was more mechanical in their approach. Never again.

Wish I could give it 3 1/2 stars. Went on a Saturday night and it was quite busy, so service and food came out a bit slow. Had the combo appetizer - although good, not worth the $13 or $14. Had mushu pork, a fried noodle with beef for the kids to share, and Yu Xiang (sp) beef for myself. Way too much food...but at least we had leftovers. My beef dish was supposed to be spicy (it said it on the menu), but it was far from it. Everything tasted fine, but nothing that screamed hot damn. Unique things about this place - the mushu pork as you know comes with "pancakes" and plum sauce. The server actually prepares them for you at your table. After we were done, we asked for boxes - the server boxes your food at your table. And the kids had Sprite. Came in a can, which puts me off a little, but they charged us $3.50 for 2 cans, which puts me off a lot. The wife liked this place more than China Cottage across the street though, and fwiw, half the customers were Chinese.

Just left and have never had service as bad as tonight. Waitress pushed so hard to make us finish before we were done with our meal. At 8:55 we were told it was time to close. As we walked out door locked and lights turned off. I was embarrassed as I had told my friend and client how good the place was. Been going there for over 20 years. NEVER AGAIN!! Avoid this place like the plague.

Love this restaurant! Always great food and fast service! Love the pepper steak, it melts in your mouth and if you really want to try something a little different, get the Jang pong on the Chinese menu. You have to specially ask for that menu!

By Sue Lau | Palatable Pastime Sometimes the New year brings unexpected surprises. I had expected to make a Szechuan noodle dish for our new year's dinner. But, SURPRISE! Somehow the refrigerated noodles were accidentally put away in the dry pantry. Oops. So out today in a mad rush before dinner and I guess since it was the new year, everyone seemed to be sold out, except Dorothy Lane markets, which looked at me like I was from the moon. "Are you sure those were fresh noodles?" "Chinese noodles?" "What was the brand?" Yeah, yeah. I know I could have used dried noodles, but once I get my head in a certain mindset, I can be stubborn. So after the second market was out, we decided to pop in to North China just outside of Dorothy Lane market on Far Hills in Centerville, Ohio. It was well into the dinner hour by then and both of us were feeling hungry and a bit testy. So once inside, we order hot tea and try to decide what we will be having. Bill has his mind set on stir-fried squid, after having seen my photos for the Ojingeo Bokkeum (Korean Stir-Fried Squid) I had made and blogged for the Lunar New Year. I already had my mind set on Kung Pao Chicken, since I was feeling like something a bit spicy and crunchy. I also wanted a few pot stickers, so we decided to get the dim sum platter since it was kind of a special day and we don't usually do that. Bill decided upon the "Eight Seafood Dishes" which the very friendly waitress suggested to him. It had shrimp, squid, scallops, mussels and sea cucumber in it as well as a number of usual vegetables. He ordered it extra spicy. Read full review here: palatablepastime.com/201…

I'm new to the area so this is the first Chinese restaurant I've patronized thus far. For dinner, the parking lot was packed -- a good sign. The hostess was very attentive and seated me right away. The entire staff is very efficient and pleasant, a plus to any dining establishment. I can tell that there are a lot of repeat customers -- many were chatting with the hostess on entering and leaving the place. Another good sign. I ordered the Hunan beef and it came quickly. I wish I could report it was a great dish but the truth is there was not even a hint of spice/heat to it, even though that little spice symbol was right there beside it on the menu and it was evident there were chili peppers in my dish. Let's say it was a nice beef and brocoli dish, nice enough that I took leftovers home and finished off for another meal. But, let's not call it a Chinese dish of Hunan beef. I will be back to try another dish and update my review at that time. Obviously, from the crowd that was there, people like this place. The best part? The price was ultra-reasonable, especially for dinner. With the dish, a soda, and tip the bill was under $15.

As a Korean American there aren't many choices in the area for something you might be craving like Korean influenced Chinese food. This is basically the only place in the area that you can find such things on the menu. They have a separate menu for these items. Don't be afraid to try them. Jjiajjiangmyun (blackbean paste stir fried with vegetables and meat over noodles). Priced at about $10. It is plentiful and also good to share if you plan on ordering other dishes to share with your party. They will split it into two bowls even before bringing it out. Also served with kimchee that is at its perfect ripeness. Very greasy but will definitely satisfy your craving. Out of the other choices on this special menu (tang Soo Yook, mapo tofu, etc) my favorite is the Kang pong chicken. Its got a slightly sweet not spicy batter and goes perfect with your noodle dish. However all these dishes are pricey in the range if $16-18. BUT the portion is HUGE, enough to share family style and probably take some home for leftovers. I asked if it was possible to make a smaller sized dish and was unfortunately denied. Lastly if you are looking for Korean BBQ style marinated beef, order the Peking ribs. It's their version of kalbi. Service here is always friendly, don't be afraid to raise your hand for something. This is not the type of restaurant where they follow pretentious rules. They are really good at refilling your water at all times.

Surprising little find! Excellent food (American Chinese variety) and the service was really over the top. Haven't been here in years, we usually go to the other Chinese restaurant down the road and like it so much that we were hesitant to try North China, I'm glad we did though! The interior is pretty basic, nice but not over the top in either direction. One of the biggest elements for me is the service, great food with poor service = no return for me, bad food with great service and I'll usually at least give them another try. North China really excels when it comes to service, they are prompt, friendly, and helpful. An example; the dish I originally ordered looked to be spicy (which I like), the waiter told me that it was really more sweet and asked if I still wanted it, I was thankful for his advice and ordered another dish, he even brought out the hot chili oil in case I wanted it a littler hotter than normal, really good service in my opinion! The food was fantastic! Everything was tasty and well cooked, of course the portions were huge and more than adequate for lunch today! Which brings me to another example of good service! When we were finished instead of just giving us boxes for our leftovers, they came out and boxed it up for us, I very much appreciated this! I'm sure we'll return to North China and you should check them out!

I love this place. The waitstaff works as a team and is very attentive. I've never had a meal here with which I was not satisfied. The prices are reasonable. They're kid friendly. Everything is clean. The fish in the tank seem happy. They make with the pot of hot tea right away, without even asking first. To me this was a very good sign, the first time I dined there, and is one of my favorite aspects of the place. The menu is varied and wide ranging. It's my favorite chinese restaurant. Update: still go there. still love it. upped to 5 stars cuz it really is awesome value for money. Another Update: We love this place so much we've pretty much made it a habit to go there at least once a week. They're closed to remodel, though, and it's really been hurting us. China Dynasty and China Cottage are OK but they can't fill the void left with North China closed. There's less than a week to go before they re-open, though. I can wait, but I don't want to! They've reopened. The Yu Xiang Pork is still good! All is right with the world.

At North China Restaurant, you'll be able to find those Chinese dishes that Koreans enjoy. I tried the jam bong, jaja mien, and fried pork with sweet and sour sauce (found on the Korean menu), and they were all delicious. Apparently, they hand make the noodles at the restaurant, so allow a couple extra minutes for noodle dishes. Portions are large and great for sharing. Service is quick, friendly, and professional. I'd consider making the trip up from Cincinnati again if the occasion strikes.

I'm really confused at these great reviews. Perhaps it's from people that either don't eat out much, or haven't eaten outside of the midwest. Walking in I was a bit of a skeptic; however once I got in it was nice looking. My waiter was nice, but the (I'm guessing manager) just doesn't get how to take care of people. I ordered the hot and sour soup. It was ok at best. It was way over peppered. I'm not sure I have ever said that on a hot and sour review. The soup came with some burnt tea, and crispy wonton with sour sauce. The wontons were tasty but I could tell they were not fresh. Next up I was recommended to get the dragon and phoenix chicken. It was essentially chicken and shrimp with stuff. The meal came with white rice. The rice I feel came out of a microwave. I could feel frozen pockets in the middle. The shrimp was HORRIBLE frozen microwaved shrimp. The chicken was delicious though. My thought is this. Go, order chicken and don't get the shrimp.

My friend and I went last night, and plan on going back with more friends. The food was excellent, great quality. It came out incredibly fast and the portion were generous. I got the Orange Beef (very flavorful) and my friend got the House Chicken Steak (so tender and all white meat). Complimentary wontons and hot tea before the meal. To top it all off, great staff and didn't break the bank.

North China is by far my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Dayton area. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The food always arrives quickly and is hot. Mongolian beef has become my favorite Chinese dish and I always order it when trying a new chinese restaurant -- I should just quit because no other restaurant can measure up to what is served at North China. I would recommend North China if you are looking for great Chinese food in the south Dayton area.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
