It is outdoor patio time and Tlaquepaque has large one that is hidden from view. This place serves up some generous portions. Highly recommend the steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas. There is plenty to share and still be full.

I cannot pronounce the name of this restaurant, which makes it more intriguing to me. I stopped for lunch on a Saturday (husband was hunting, traffic was backed up on 77 North, I was too tired to shop at the mall). I will agree with fellow Yelpers that this place has a peculiar smell on entering - somewhat of a mixture between sewer gas and cleaning fluid. This smell either dissipated or I became accustomed to it. Either way it did not detract from my meal. I like the atmosphere here, it is dim and quiet. I chose a booth near the bar area and enjoyed the complimentary chips/salsa. The chips were a bit stale and the salsa was runny and too mild (more fresh tomatoes, more cilantro, more spice)! I ordered a Margarita that is made with genuine fruit juice. It was very good, however it was also very weak. I was entertained by overhearing an older man at the bar trying to "chat up" barmaids who barely spoke English. This Sexual Dynamo said that he lives out of state, travels for a living, and he couldn't stop talking about Las Vegas. Employees were sitting at the booth behind me speaking Spanish and laughing, which was a bit distracting. For lunch I had a Chicken Taco Salad which was okay. The shell was soggy by the time I got down to it. This soggy-bottomed taco shell appears to be par for the course at most Mexican restaurants. I am still searching for a Taco Salad like the salads they served at the now defunct Chi-Chi's. I have yet to find one that good. Overall the service was fairly good, the waitress was pleasant and the food was acceptable. Although the drink I had was weak, it was freshly made and took quite a while to mix. The weird smell was, well, weird.

We always enjoy the food. Our first choice for Mexican style food. The drinks are good Also. We have tried many of the entrees here and haven't disliked any of them. The service is very good. Everyone smiles and makes you welcome. Plenty of parking front and back.

I really did not care for this place when they first opened but I now I have found one thing that makes me think it is A-OK. The lunch fajitas with the chicken, shrimp and chorizo for $8.99 is pretty great. You get a lot of food for the money and it is pretty good. I do not usually eat at places for price but I can't deny this is a pretty filling and tasty meal for under $9.

This is my favorite Mexican joint of all time, Tuesday and Thursday Margs are $2.15 and the food is always great. While you might find a better salsa, you won't find a better value. The people that work here are incredible. Couldn't recommend it high enough

I am a transplant from San Diego California. I grew up on really good Mexican food. I am always on the look out for good Mexican food spots. The food here is pretty good but there is something I don't get. How can this and other "Mexican" restaurants not offer horchata?

Average Mexican food. Nothing special and a bit higher priced than many other places like it. Margaritas are below average and a bit weak. But all the food you can tell was fresh and made nicely. I'm sure I'll eat here again but it won't be a place I look to go to often.

First visit to this restaurant. The place was clean and the young waiter we had was pleasant and friendly. The food was good but not spectacular. Being from California, I'm spoiled with the variety of delicious Mexican food. The prices were very reasonable.

Boring, bland....no sparkle, just load up on those carbs. Staff are nice but I want something that stands up and barks, something wonderful, and that will not be ordered here.

I'm amazed at the reviews that this establishment has gotten. I went here one time, it was dirty, and the food was not great. The bathroom was an absolute mess. I am weary of going anywhere the management does not care to maintain cleanliness.

My daughter and I enjoyed this Mexican restaurant very much. We both thought our Seafood Burritos with rice and beans were very good! The decor on the inside of the restaurant was a pleasant surprise - so beautiful!

I was not very impressed with this place. Based on the reviews that I had read I expected much better food. The service was a little slow as well. The guacamole was not very good. It tasted kind of bland. I don't know if there was just lights not working or what but the back parking lot was very dark that night.

Best margaritas in town. Hands down. Endless chips and salsa, great patio seating, and awesome service! It is a great place to relax with friends or unwind after work.

Poor service here. Veggie fajitas were mainly peppers and onions. The price is good. I suggest going to chips and salsa. This place is standard Mexican fare.

Ever since our favorite Mexican place closed, we've been searching for a new Mexican restaurant. This place has done the job. Service has been good and there is a variety of food. The chips and salsa are very good also. Definitely our new favorite place!

Moldy tasting salsa. Seriously. Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself. The past few times we have been there, it has started with chips and moldy/spoiled tasting salsa. I know! I know! So why keep going? I think it is in hopes of finding delicious salsa. But no. We are only met with moldy tasting salsa. When you walk into the resturant, it's so cute! You love it! The decor! The staff is always smiling! You see the yummy chips and the salsa. Then, bam! What the H? This salsa is horrible! It can't be! Babe, try this salsa! What the H! This salsa is....gross! What more can I say after the salsa is moldy tasting? Nothing more than go to this place only to check out this moldy tasting salsa. The food was very good. I had a veggie burrito. No mold taste there. Go there if you want to check out the moldy salsa and good food. Sit in amazement as to why they continue to serve this stuff.

This is a good place. Prepare to bring some home. Try the especial vallarta. Its an awesome fajitas served IN a pineapple. First time I've seen that.

Went back for a birthday party and I was unsure of what to order. After my first visit with broccoli in the fajitas I had no idea what the sauce would be like and I didn't care for the liquid cheese. But I have to say I was most pleasantly surprised On a limited budget I decided to go for the combo - two enchiladas and a taco for $7.75. Pretty cheap and the food was surprisingly good. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. The enchilada sauce was flavorful. The chicken was paired with onions and green peppers to really add some punch to the sauce. The taco meat was boiled and a bit off, but overall ok. My friend ordered the milanesa, basically mexican chicken fried steak. And it was awesome. I haven't had any since we left Mexico and I loved it. So my opinion of Tlaquepaque has gone from eeh to yea!

WARNING! FOOD POISONING. DO NOT GO HERE. I went here with my dad and we both woke up at 3 am the next night and vomited every last bit of food or liquid that was in us. It was horrible. It was obviously this filthy restaurant's chicken because that was the only common item my dad and I ate that day.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Their fajita burritos are one of my favorites!

Man, how much I miss this place! This is the best Mexican food I've ever had -- even after being in California, where you would think the Mexican food would be outstanding. Really friendly service here, large portions, and tastes amazing. My favorites are the guadalajara and then churros for dessert.

I was shocked to see this rated so high. I've been there twice, and, how to put this delicately, ... it smelled like raw sewage. Maybe they had a plumbing issue that has since been resolved. We brought a guest there once, and were so embarrassed when he referred to it as 'the place that smelled like a toilet. ' There are very good Mexican restaurants not far from this one. If I go back some time and find that it doesn't smell anymore, I'll edit my review.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
