Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Great atmosphere. Inside is a rustic timber lodge and outside has the feel of a casual family winery. Service inside was friendly and attentive. The food, however was just okay. Pretty much your Bravo type Italian. I will go back for drinks and snacks outside.

Husband & I decided to visit Gervasi Vineyards, this past Fri afternoon. We're wine lovers/makers & had heard rumors of an interesting place called Gervasi. Arrived around 2pm & SURPRISE--this is NOT the usual winery, with an informative staff pouring samples of delicious wine! In fact, walking up the lovely landscaped walkway to the front door, we found a sign that said "closed"--were told by young lady inside that there is only wine tasting starting at 5?!?! in the Bistro. But we could go to the Piazza & be seated & look over a menu, order at a bar & take whatever we ordered back to the table. We asked if we could taste wine, were told yes, chose 4 red wines, paid $4 for 4 very small shot glasses of rather ordinary, somewhat watered down wine. Needless to say, perhaps the owners should reconsider what the focus is----are they in the business of making great wine or providing a beautiful venue for weddings...We will not make a return visit-do not visit if you are expecting a working winery with decent wines.

Beautiful grounds..but that's about it...for the prices, the food should be memorable, and it simply isnt.

I surprised my husband with an overnight stay for his birthday. This was our first trip to Gervasi Vineyard and we stayed at the Villa's. The food was great, the service was wonderful and the villa was stunning. The only downfall was the massage I reserved. The service was wonderful but I specifically asked upon checking in if I need to tip the masseuse and I was told that was all included in what I was charged. This made sense to me because I was quoted 20% higher than what was online and that is what I was told the 20% was for at check in. I then asked our masseuse while she was packing up and she told me the same, that the 20% was already paid for. I then asked if she receives the 20% and she (very reluctantly) told me she receives 10%. I truly felt mislead that I was not told that upon checking in. I tip for service, always have and always will, and someone got 10% that was not intended for them. I ended up paying 30% for a tip in which I would have only paid 20%. I am sure it is in their agreement but that just seemed to be purposefully omitted.

This was our second visit and it was much improved from our first shortly after they opened. We had dinner in the Bistro both times, which is a well thought out space with lots of light, nice tables and only a few TVs (which could ruin it). We both had the wine flight - I had three reds, my wife three whites - and all were tasty. I like bigger, bold reds and found a few that hit the spot. The stuffed peppers with risotto and veal were extremely tasty. I could have made a meal of them entirely! We ordered the crispy eggplant (breaded and covered with cheese, red sauce and basil), and the shredded Brussels sprouts (looks like coleslaw but tastes much better) as sides to share (more than enough for the two of us). My wife had the Sicilian pasta and loved it while I tried the shrimp and scallop dish that was pretty good itself. The risotto with edamame and peas was a great accompaniment. For dessert, we shared the hazelnut brownies and had coffees. Could have been more than perfect if they were warm, but this did just fine! We had a really good time. The atmosphere was relaxed - dinner was a bit better than 2 hours and we never felt rushed - and beautiful. We finished with a stop in to the market and a stroll around the winery. It was a great early evening. One thing to mention is there were a fair amount of children here, which was a good thing for us as next time we'll bring our son (8) along. We had reservations for 3 PM this time, so it must be partly due to the time of day.

Great atmosphere, beautiful scenery, cute and romantic! Wines were good and we had a great time. However.. I probably wouldn't come back for the food. Everything we ordered was super super salty!! My friend loves salty food and can not get enough of salt but even agreed that everything was super salty!

I guess I must have been super hungry when I went before and left hungry. Not anymore though. Food was delicious and perfectly-sized portions. Crush House is great. Patio is a lot of fun.

Went today for the first time with my husband. Love to experience new wineries. This place was recommended to us. It was a beautiful fall day. Ate outside at the piazza . Did not like having to order & pay before my food arrive. Waitress delivered our food. My husband wanted water, didn't think we had to get up & get it ourself. The food was priced adequately & the wine was decent. Very overpriced by the glass. The grounds were beautiful. Hard to believe it's owned solely by one owner. It sniffs out many owners or corporations.

Came to the Crush for the first time. The food was sub par at best. Was like going to a fast food/buffet style place as far as the food was concerned. The place over all was nice and the ambiance was good. Will come back for drinks but pass on the food.

I was with a group that was considering using Gervasi as a location for an upcoming fundraiser. We decided to go down for lunch to get a feel for the location and the food. The Bistro is amazing from the moment you walk up to the enormous doors. Everything is beautifully decorated, very rustic yet refined. Views from throughout the room of the grounds are breathtaking, and the room, though busy, was not loud. Our waiter was was wonderful, he took the time to explain the menu and gave his recommendation for selections in each category. He went through the wine list very thoroughly and did a good job of answering our questions. You can buy wine by the glass, by the bottle, or by a 3-glass flight. You can pick any combination of wines (white or red or both) and they bring a 2 ounce glass of each. Since we had not had any of the wine there before, the flight was a great option. As you are waiting for your food they bring out a basket of bread. But this wasn't any bread - it was hot, garlicky, cheesy crostini slices that were to die for. Just the bread itself would have made me a happy lady, that is, until my meal arrived. I ordered the Lobster Formaggio - a huge dish of freshly made gemelli pasta in a light cheese sauce with large, discernable chunks of lobster. It was steaming hot (I hate when my meals seem to have sat under a heating light) and so delicious. The pasta was light with just the right amount of creaminess, and the lobster was fabulous. The serving size was big, by the time I was done with lunch I still had a substantial amount of leftovers for an additional meal at home. We decided to splurge on dessert and had the Nutella pizza. Picture a warm pizza crust covered in melty Nutella and chocolate chips and hazelnut chunks. It was heaven on a plate. Throughout the meal our wait staff did an incredible job refilling glasses and checking on us. Just enough to be right, and not too much to be annoying. We had such an enjoyable meal and we all plan to return on our own, as well as for our event. Such a fabulous find!

First impression is wow! I couldn't believe something like this was in Canton and I had never heard of it. We ate at the bistro but look forward to trying the crush house and the patio. The wine we had was excellent and best we have had in central Ohio. Appetizers on the table were pizza and stuffed peppers. Everyone loved these. Dinner ranged from filets to pasta. Some of the dinners were really good and some were so-so. Dinner prices were rather high but the ambiance was far better than anything around. Over all I will go back again to try the other venues.

We had entirely too much but it was all fantastic. Only mild complaint was that all dishes seemed somewhat sweet. Started with the cauliflower soup, bruschetta and smoked Gouda pierogi. The soup was super rich and delicious but a bit sweet although the arugula gave it a lively pepperiness. The bruschetta was good - not great, the balsamic was a bit too sweet and kind of overpowering. The pierogi were outstanding. Next was the Bibb salad which was delicious but for the sweetness. Mains were the gnocchi - special of the day which the husband loved. Very rich and hearty and not sweet. I had the shrimp and scallop chitarra but I asked for marinara sauce instead of the garlic and olive oil. It was really lively except the shrimp were small and a bit over cooked. The scallops however were amazing. The one bizarre thing was that the waitstaff destroyed five trays of glasses and plates throughout our two hours there. Our waiter was meh but everyone else was pretty nice especially the hostess who squeezed us in late evening. Overall will definitely come back as the food was delicious - you can always add salt when it's sweet - and the ambiance was amazing.

this place amazes me. For Canton this is quite a change. the atmosphere is quiet. the service was perfect. The wine is not bad for this area. Prices are on par with others in the area. My wife and I tried it on a fluke and we will go back. the food comes in huge portions but they allow half orders which were plenty for us. The Caesar salad was a little strange looked like a loaf of bread?? has anchovies but the critter is on the side of the plate. dressing was nothing special. The Salmon was great. Maybe a little salty but I had a huge workout earlier so I needed the extra salt. the grounds would be great for a weekend retreat. My wife and I decided we would book a night at the attached villa and get away from everyone. THE OTHER thing I can't over emphasize is this is not a chain!!!!!!!!! If you go and don't like it send me a note. thanks!!!

Lovely, lovely grounds, unlike anything that one would expect to see in Canton. There was great vision and first-rate planning that went into this first-class winery. For the grounds and the facilities themselves, I'd give this five-stars. As for the food and the wine, it's a different story. I ate on the Piazza downstairs, outside. One orders at a counter and the food is brought out to the table. There is no waiter service. It's not a great system, as all the food is brought simultaneously, so if one orders appetizers and entrees, all the food would arrive at once. The remedy for this issue? Order the appetizers first, on a separate ticket, and then order the entrees later on a different ticket -- which would mean paying twice, as not everything would be on one bill. Yes, it's stupid and ill-organized. The food wasn't great. There were a few items on the menu for vegetarians: a couple pizzas, salads, and one pannini. The woman who took my order suggested that the pizzas would be the best bet. They were average at best. The crust wasn't refined, the toppings not full-of-flavor, the tomato sauce so subtle it could barely be distinguished. By all means, it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't memorable. I sampled several of the wines at the counter before ordering. Full disclosure: I live near Napa Valley and Sonoma County, two of the best and most mature wine growing regions in the United States that consistently produce world-class wines. These wines weren't that. To be fair, I did not find them "horrible"; yet, they were thin. They tasted watered down -- which is not to say that they were -- but the flavors weren't subtle or bold, aromatic or spicy -- they were diluted by the wine-making process. It's not that I wouldn't recommend the wine, but I'd suggest that people be prepared for what they're getting. It's not complex wine, but this is still a young winery. Give them some chance to mature and grow in their process. Given my proximity to Wine Country in California and being well-adapted to the costs, I did not find a $9.50 glass of wine or a $12 pizza (and it was small) to be excessive. Value is something that other Yelpers seem to be concerned about with respect to Gervasi. Yes, it's a notch or two more expensive than the ordinary run-of-the-mill place. That said, the ambiance is spectacular. One forgets that one is in Canton, Ohio. I've never seen anything like it and couldn't have imagined. Overall, I give my four stars because of the builder's vision and well-thought out and well-constructed vineyard. They have villas for overnight stays, a Pavillion for outdoor weddings, and a conference room for indoor meetings or weddings. There is a beautiful pond and the view from the Piazza is lovely. The food and wine are not four stars; they are three stars at best, and 2.5 stars is more likely the most accurate description. Still, it's different, it's romantic, it's quality in layout. I'd recommend people to go at least once to see what can be done in this normally sleepy and boxed/chain restaurant locale in Northeastern Ohio. One can bring style to Stark County, and Gervasi succeeds on that front in spades.

Just here for the first time today, on a company event. We were at the Pavilion. Cold buffet and desserts. Nothing special. A couple of cheeses, smoked cheddar, goat and something else I couldn't identify. Mozzarella and balsamic vinegar with some tomatoes, cold cuts! Some noodles and vegetables. Again, nothing special. Desserts included a mousse, brownie cone with a spit of chocolate syrup, cannoli, chocolate strawberries, etc. Nothing special there either bit the mousse was tasty. I have not been here for dinner so I can't review the "real" food. I was underwhelmed with this visit though. The parking staff also send us to the wrong place after we were already in the right place! Wasted our time. Can't comment on prices either since I didn't pay.

This review is for the patio they call the Piazza. OK, the good: The buildings, the grounds, the gardens, and the atmosphere are amazing. The owners spent a fortune on this place, turning it into a very classy place (that was once an abandoned old tree farm). Kudos for investing in a Plain Township based business, where I live. This is where I run out of nice things to say..... The bad: 1.) The place and it's clientele are very pretentious. If you didn't arrive in a Mercedes or BMW, and wear $600 outfits, you were instantly out classed. The place wreaks of money. Not a common man's place to eat at all. 2.) We had to wait 45 minutes for a party of 5, and when we were seated, they sat us at a square wrought iron table built for 4. Very cramped and awkward. 3.) The prices are ridiculous! $10 glasses of wine that were small in size and filled with mediocre tasting spirits. Expect to pay $10 - $24 for a sandwich, chips and a pickle spear. These meals anywhere else would be under $9 and would exceed Gervasi's portions and taste. I ordered a bottle of wine. That was a mistake. They gave me something called a half sleeve. Guess what it was? A half bottle of wine! Yeah, 375ML of wine for the price of a full 750ML bottle! Rip off. 4.) When we were finally seated by the hostess, we quickly learned that there are no waiters or waitresses! You literally have to walk up to an ordering station, place your order and pay for it. I felt like I was eating at the county fair. Thankfully the kitchen was kind enough to bring the food to our table. Unbelievable - no wait staff? Really?!? If this is an upscale place to eat, they lost my vote. For these kinds of prices, I expect to be waited on. 5.) You had to tip at the time you paid for your meal. Really?!? Tip for something that I haven't received yet? And tip for what? Where's the wait staff? It just felt like greed. 6.) No full service bar. Wine and soda only. (A member of our party didn't like wine, and wanted a mixed drink) 7.) I'm not sure how to control it, but the walking grounds are filled with Canadian Goose crap. It's everywhere. If you walk the grounds, expect to get bird crap all over your shoes. All in all, I spent $125 for a party of 5. We all walked away very disappointed, and vowed to never return. I actually felt ripped off. We could have spent half the money elsewhere and received twice the value. I never mind spending a little extra money for an upscale place to dine. However, I do expect to see value for my hard earned money. The Gervasi Piazza failed in every way.

We recently had our wedding and rehearsal dinner here and everything was amazing. The location cannot be beat. The beauty of the grounds and buildings is amazing, something you might expect in Napa or Sonoma but is unexpected in Canton. The wedding was outside, and the reception was in the outdoor pavilion. Everything was mazing. The staff was awesome and helpful all the way through the process, not just on the wedding dy but with everything leading up and all of the planning. You felt like they were going the extra mile and not just "doing another wedding". Food and drinks were great, service was excellent. Every single person that was impressed with the location and the food. Great Job.

This review is for the new Crush at the Gervasi vineyard. We went 10/313. Very cool wine bar, casual eatery on the Gervasi property. There are two stories. The first floor has the bar. There is also veranda seating. The views are great. Its hard to believe that you are in Canton, because it looks so Tuscan. I had a wonderful gorgonzola maple salad. It was big and so very delicious. My dad got the Italian meat salad. My mom thought mine was better. We all ordered pasta bowls. I had the short ribs with orzo. It was so good. My mom got the shrimp and chorizo sausage bowel. The chorizo was not spicy, which was fine with my mom. However, having been to Portugal and Spain, I didn't even know they made un-spicy chorizo. The sausage was ground into very tiny pieces, so small, that we had to ask the staff if that was indeed the chorizo. We were used to link sausage that would be cut on the bias. Dad ad the greek pasta bowl with chicken. He seemed to love it. I ordered a gelato for dessert: mocha and Frangelico liquer gelato. I loved it. You have many gelato options. The gelato flavors can be paired with any wine or liquer, so the options are aplenty if you use your imagination. They have parings on the menu in case you don't want to task your brain and just pick something. I had a chard and a red wine, which were great! The decor is very upscale and as usual for Gervasi, very expensive. The sinks in the bathrooms have little red lights in them. Very cool! Seating is first come, first serve. We walked right up to a great table on second floor with views of the bar action.

This review is for the bistro. i hve not used the patio outside or the hotel. Nice ambiance and the prices are reflective of that, but I believe it was still a good value. The best is the wine flight, built as wine tasting, but they charge $7.50 for 3 small samples, all together it would be 2/3 of a wine glass, but the wins were good. The food was well prepared, and well presented, you certainly noticed the pasta was freshly made. The service was real good. But we visited in he off season...I bet it would be crowded during summer time. The grounds are really nice, and phenomenally well kept. I would go back.

We've eaten here several times on the patio, once in the dining room with a group of 10 friends. The place is stunning. Even though the space is nearly new, it looks like an old italian villa with lots of old exposed beams and stucco and brickwork, beautifully lit and furnished. The property is beautifully landscaped, and the patio area is a great space. Most of the wines we tried were enjoyable. I'm not a wine snob, so crisper younger and sweeter wines are fine by me. I'd give them 5 stars compared to other ohio vineyards. Their grapes i'd guess are sourced from California while they get their own vines up and producing in the coming years. What they've been able to produce so far is commendable. The food unfortunately was hit and miss. Mostly miss. I ordered a pretty typical seafood pasta dish that should be hard to screw up and it was crap. My wife had lamb that was pretty good though. Dessert was tasty. Others in our party expressed the same opinion. specials were pretty good, the rest was bad. On the occasions we opted for the patio, the appetizers were pretty terrible across the board. The meat and cheese plate was an insult to cured meats and dairy products. It was like cold cuts and rubbery cubed cheese leftover from an office luncheon. The pizza was warm-ish, but still edible. I don't set the bar very high for Canton and i still left disappointed every time. I won't even complain about the price other than to say if it met expectations it would be a good value. I want to love you, I really do Gervasi. I want to bring out of town friends here who will leave impressed and satisfied. Until the food steps up to the level of the awesome decor we'll have to go downtown for our Italian fix.

If real estate is all about location, location, location ... then this place is all about ambiance, ambiance, ambiance. I've dined here several times and it was an exquisite experience each time. A number of reviews here comment on the prices. I figure if I want a cost-conscious meal w/wine, there are a few hundred establishments between the BV Mall and The Strip where I can get that. NONE of those places has an atmosphere anywhere close to the one at Gervasi. Having said that, I've found the Bistro at Gervasi to be a very good value. Salads, pizzas and appetizers are all reasonably priced. The wine is indeed pricey, and I've had better tasting experiences at wine tastings, but this is a fairly new winery that is just beginning to build its steam. I'm sure award-winning wines are in its future...

This place is a great surprise in Canton! The wine was pretty good and the food was good too. The prices are fair. The atmosphere was definitely my favorite thing about it. There really is a reason every Saturday for the next three years is booked for a wedding! I would love to stay overnight here sometime, I almost forgot I was in central Ohio! The outdoor area is really cool. My family enjoyed playing bocce ball. It had a country club feel to it and the landscaping was impeccable. Will be back, hopefully for more than just dinner.

Oh my. Where to begin? I suppose I should start with driving up to the restaurant to park for a dinner (with reservations). I was turned away by the parking attendant who indicated I needed to go park in a field a good walk away from the restaurant. It was 90+ some degrees and I was wearing a sport coat. I have had a lot better luck in finding closer parking in Tremont and downtown Cleveland. I later learned that the folks that were at Gervasi to attend the farmers market had the same parking priority in the restaurant's parking lot as people that came to the restaurant with reservations. That's an interesting philosophy. I walked over to the lower level host, informed her we were there for dinner and had reservations. Apparently they can't handle reservations at the lower level, so I was directed to walk up and around the building, go into the upper level and ask them. Grumble. I walk up and around and through the main doors, and was greeted nicely by the host. I explained who we were and that we had made reservations for 8 to 12 people. She then escorted me downstairs and pointed to our table - which seated six. Um, anybody see a disconnect here? She then said "Well that table over there should be ready to leave sometime soon; we will pull that table over when they leave." Really? This is what arriving on time with reservations gets you? Meh! I sat down and realized I was right by a door that goes outside to the lower level host. Geez! So far, all this place has going for it is ambience: beautiful grounds, amazing buildings, and top notch interior decorations and lighting. A+ on Ambience. We were in the middle of a conversation and the server actually interrupted multiple times and spoke over top of us to start explaining the specials. I guess we are in a hurry now. We placed our appetizer order (GV Artisan Piatti, Bruschetta Trio, Marinated Vegetable Antipasto) and wine order. Note: there are no cocktails here -just their own house wine and limited beer. I had the red wine flight (Velluto, Truscano, and Abbraccio). Ok, so I think Velluto translates to Velvet, and that is the name they gave their Pinot Noir. Oh man, this wine and velvet don't belong in the same sentence unless the sentence is "This wine is definitely not like velvet!" This Pinot came across as fiery, bitey, and lit up the sides of my tongue. The Truscano and Abbraccio were approachable. Just give them some time to breathe; they taste young. The appetizers were all good, nothing exceptional though. The appetizer presentation was very good. The server did a good job of giving us a bit of time after appetizers and wine were served prior to taking the dinner order. I had the Grilled Pork Chop (16oz Grilled Pork Chop, Sage Potato Cake, Sauteed Squash, Orange Chili Glaze). I was really looking forward to sinking my teeth into a nice thick juicy 16oz pork chop. When my meal arrived, I just sorta stared at my pork chop. I've never been served a pork chop that looks like that before; I uploaded a picture to the site. What was worse though is when I cut into it. It was undercooked - picture uploaded! Ah come on now, Gervasi! There are only a couple of ways to get an F from me on food, but serving undercooked pork or chicken is a foundational level restaurant no no. If I were a certain UK chef, I might have jumped up, dropped a few f bombs, run into the kitchen, called them a bunch of donkeys, and told them to shut the place down before they poison someone. Instead I just sat there and shook my head; I'm not going to disrupt every one elses dinner to send it back. The squash was thinly cut and overcooked, almost mushy, and there was no seasoning - completely bland. Visions of shredded potato with sage seasonings possibly browned in olive oil manifested itself on my plate as what I can only describe as dried out crushed potatoes compressed into a hockey puck that soaked in oil; it was yellowed not browned and was also completely bland. I tasted no sage. They must not taste before they serve here. I left the pork chop - with the rare side showing - on my plate. The server cleared it with the others plates without even noticing the undercooked pork or asking why I left it on the plate. Minus another point on service. I think the kitchen staff completely blew this meal and service certainly didn't make up for it. Maybe the place grew in popularity faster than they could handle it. I'm betting I would have had a completely different review had I arrived for the farmers market, strolled around the grounds with a date, and had a couple of glasses of wine on the patio with appetizers or a pizza. And I may try that in a few weeks. But purely as a restaurant dining experience, this is a two star for this visit. ATMOSPHERE- A+ SERVICE - C- FOOD - F (under cooked pork and bland over cooked sides) PRICE - C (you can't ask these prices for this kind of service and food

We went for lunch yesterday, on Sunday right when it opened. The atmosphere is very lovely! The bread was very good and warm, garlic bread? We ordered the lunch special - $30 for a big salad, one pizza you can choose, and one lasagna. We also ordered the lobster alfredo pasta. This was the perfect amount of food for 4 people. The salad had mixed greens, goat cheese, strawberries, pistachios, and raisins (craisins?) with a balsamic dressing. It was absolutely delightful, everything melded together wonderfully. The lobster pasta was a tad heavy and rich, but with a lot of big chunks of lobster. Very good. The lasagna was ok, I've definitely had better. I don't know if it was the meat or what, but again, I've had better. We ordered the veggie white pizza and we all thought it was great - the perfect amount of cheese, vegetables, and there wasn't too much crust. It is a thin crust, which I prefer. All in all it was a wonderful experience. I even bought a bottle of wine next door at the Marketplace, but haven't had the chance to try it yet. Very easy to make reservations on opentable.com ! Will definitely return next time I'm in the area!

So I read all the reviews good and bad. It seems the only complaint was over the food. I decided to give it a try and glad I did. The food was wonderful I had the pierogies to start absolutely wonderful. Then the bone in ribeye which was cooked the way I ordered it and butter knife tender.. The service was awesome.. Sorry I can't say if any of the Italian dishes was authentic Italian cuisine. 1 I'm not Italian and didn't grow up with authentic home cooked Italian food 2 I never been to Italy and 3 i had steak. After dinner we went to the patio and enjoyed more wine and great music.. I highly recommended you spend an evening here with the one you love the atmosphere is just beautiful. No complaints here..

Not Very Good I'd been trying to get my family together for over a year to return to Gervasi's for dinner. The first time the food was memorable, today it was unanimously a disappointment. Five of us had pasta dishes we had order before and I had the short ribs, My meal was OK, no one else enjoyed theirs.

I used to be a DJ and have done a TON of weddings. This is a perfect place for someone in the northeastern Ohio area to get married. The facility is brand new and high quality, the food was wonderful, the scenery pristine...all good stuff. If you're just looking to get away, as soon as their villas are done, I think this will be a perfect "Staycation" location. Great wine, plenty of places to relax, read, and look at the water, bocce ball & other games, etc. I'd definitely consider coming here with my wife for a long weekend.

Im going to try really hard not to sound like a big city snob here, but this place was a real disappointment. It's like eating decent wedding buffet food with awful wine. I'm sure this is a lovely place for a wedding....and it would be a grand experience. But for a dinner with lively conversation, excellent food and an impressive wine list-this is most certainly not the place. Having said that...I think there is potential here, and would rate it a 2.5 if the option was available. We had a 9 pm reservation, so parking wasn't really an issue, but if the weather had been at all inclement, it would have been a nightmare. The landscaping is exquisite, and the buildings are gorgeous. For some reason though, there's a real shortage of bathroom facilities. Our party of 10 was seated in the lower level that's laid out in German beer hall style. The noise was out of control. I started with a Riesling that was sweeter than Kool Aid, not at all my style. I switched to the "velvet" Pinot Noir...marginally better than the aforementioned Riesling, but that's not saying much. I don't consider myself a full blown wine afficionado, but I know a bit about wine and food pairings and different vintages. I think the Gervasi owners are trying too hard to be something they're not. The best advice I can give them is get some name brand wines in here. Some of the appetizers I tried were the caprese salad-meh; the bruschetta-meh; one of the brick oven pizzas-quite good. I had the short rib entrée, which is considered one of their signature dishes. The server brought mine out and it was huge-she said it was a double order by accident, but "they wouldn't charge me for the mistake". The Parmesan mashed potatoes were cold-tasted great, but cold-so were the carrots. The short ribs were warm to hot but, nothing special-they tasted like my pot roast-which is delicious, to be sure, but nothing out of the ordinary. A couple of my table mates got the brisket/filet combination, which wasn't presented well and won no praise from either of them. My brother in law was very disappointed in the pork chop which he reported was very dry. If this place is profitable, then good for the owners. Their overhead must be enormous though. I'm guessing there were around 500-1,000 people on the grounds when we arrived. But I'm not convinced they were all there for food, it seems like some people were there just to take a look around and ooh and ah over the architecture and grounds. Based on some other reviews, I probably have higher expectations than a lot of locals. I just don't think you can create made-to-order, quality meals for crowds that size...unless you have an army of chefs. I'll concede that our late arrival time may have accounted for some of the lapses in service and food quality...it doesn't excuse it, but I know that it's not unusual for quality to suffer at the end of the evening. Would I give it another chance? Yes. But I'd probably stick with a pizza and some wine on the patio before indulging in a big meal again.

After a return visit, I was disappointed to find that again our table wasn't ready and we waited for over a half hour to be seated and again received a complimentary pizza. Our meal was great though, service was excellent. I contacted the owner about my aggravation with the wait time and he was very receptive of my criticism and offered his apologies. I will go again next time I am in the area not only because of the food, ambiance and wine (all great), but because of his timely response and dedication to customer service. Be prepared to wait, relax and have some more wine. And a designated driver!

I've been to Gervasi a few times, and while it's a great option if you're just looking for a place to enjoy a glass of wine with some friends, I wasn't impressed with the dining experience there. The wines are good, and fairly reasonably priced. The lunch menu is pretty basic-- some appetizers, salads, pizzas and pasta dishes (about 3-4 options per course), and seems a bit pricey for what you get. I had a the Sicilian salad with chicken, and while the chicken was cooked nicely, the other listed ingredients were pretty sparse. My dad got the buccatini with meatballs, and he enjoyed it, but didn't rave about it. My mom absolutely loved the asparagus soup, and nearly licked the bowl clean. She also got a beet salad, but it was a tiny portion. I love the outdoor area of Gervasi when the weather is nice, and the Bistro has a nice lodge-like feel. In general, a nice place to go for drinks, but probably not the best option for a meal.

Well where to start. First the decor is awesome. It feels like you are in a wine making barn out in the grape fields. The wine was pretty good. We had so many different ones looking for that exact one that we wanted. I had the prime rib and yes it was pretty much amazing. They side dish was baked vegys that included baked beats ( that's the only reason I mention it. ) The waiter was a little slow, but that allowed for some great family time in-between glasses. With everything being so good you can imagine the bill. It was a bit pricy however not out of the norm for similar wine bar / restaurants.

Absolutely beautiful place! The food is exceptional. Has the butternut squash soup - incredible!! Their pizzas are close to Italy. Thin and crispy. Friendly and professional service. The staff seems very well trained. A nice treat!!!

First of all, the grounds are beautiful! We actually got engaged here in the vineyard area. We were blown away by the scenery. The wine was wonderful, but a little pricy. Dinner was excellent. There was an outdoor patio for people who want a less expensive experience, but it was such a beautiful treat nestled in Canton.

This is a world class place tucked into the quiet little suburb of North Canton. If the design and decor don't blow you away the staff and the amenities will. I'm no foody so I can't speak to the cuisine, but the grounds and the ambiance are enough to make anybody's night, and we've received excellent service each time we've gone.

We were in the pavilion with a fairly large group for dinner. The Chilean Sea Bass and Filet mignon was the best ever and most everyone there agreed that the food was outstanding. The beautiful landscape made this a very memorable evening.

So I've casually called this place a few times hoping to grab dinner and every time there were no reservations available. Finally I had a 30th birthday and we needed somewhere to go, so I called and got the only time they had available, which was 8:00pm. We arrived about five minutes early and weren't sat till almost 8:30. Not a huge fan of that, especially since we had a reservation, but I digress. Once we were seated, we got the nights specials and such from the server, and then we didn't see her for literally 15 minutes. In her defense, she got sat with another four top, as well as a nine top that she was handling all on her own, so I don't fault her. I was a little surprised that such an upscale establishment didn't have a larger, more dedicated wait staff. Again, I digress. We placed our order and then they brought our wine ($9 glass Reisling) , water, and their bread. It was Italian bread, cut thin, then baked in some EVOO and spices from what I could tell. It was a little too crusty for us, so we asked for some butter, which was brought out from the freezer apparently, as it was rock hard. So far, not terribly impressed, but this is where things got better... I ordered the acorn squash soup ($7) and split a wedge salad ($6) with the misses. The soup was an A+, sweet, creamy, and the toasted pumpkin seeds gave just the right amount of salty and crunchy to compliment the sweet textures. The wedge was also good, with a nice blend of cream, bleu cheese crumbles and balsamic. The sundried tomatoes were a nice touch as well. I ordered the Short ribs for my entree ($22) which came with carrots and mashed potatoes, as well as mushrooms. The meat was extremely tender, but it was really more of something you would get in a pot roast. Maybe I just didn't realize what short ribs were, but I was expecting something else. Regardless, I was pleased with the meat and the jus it was cooked in. The carrots were slights above average, nice al dente crunch. The mushrooms were also good. The mashed potatoes left a little to be desired in my opinion, but most places don't really have the skin on, home made mashed potatoes I love. That's personal preference. Overall, a good solid meal B+ The atmosphere was interesting. This place is an old barn that was restored to the restaurant. It had a nice warm feel, very open, and homey at the same time. The lighting was just right, and the ambiance was good. My only complaint was that for some reason they had little 40" flat screens on the walls every 30 feet or so that were playing a tourist video of Italy. It just seemed really unnecessary to me, and kind of mucked the classy ambiance ever so slightly. Also, they had a few too many knick knacks for my liking (i.e. worn signs that were actually brand new) Overall, it's nice to see that Canton has a place that's got people excited again, and I'll certainly give them another try in the future. I would recommend you do the same

Being the owners of a landscaping company we loved the grounds. Being wine aficionados who have set a goal of visiting every Ohio winery for tastings we were very disappointed. It's not really a true tasting room - more of an overpriced, pretentious restaurant. The prices were inflated and I felt like I couldn't really try the wine and learn more about it. It was nice for a one-time visit to check off the list but I don't plan on going back.

Gervasi is exactly what Canton needed. This area is flooded with chain restaurants that are nothing but average. The last time I was in town we stopped by for a late dinner and everything was perfect. My husband and I split the family style lasagna which was cooked to perfection. With three trips to Italy under my belt I'm quite picky about Italian foods and nothing disappointed. Our table split the nutella pizza for dessert and it was heavenly. We're still talking about how good it was. The location and decor are over the top. In my opinion a bit off on authenticity - everything's new and mass produced. It was missing the worn but warm character that you find in older Italian restaurants. I still give them a lot of credit for almost nailing the mark - and their food makes up for it. I'm dying to go back and try the patio - but it probably won't be until next summer. Perhaps by then things will be a bit worn.

Loved this winery. Both inside & outside were beautifully decorated. We had several different kinds of wine & all of them were wonderful. Service was a tad slow. (they were pretty busy, but we had to have the bus boy get our waitress...) Our appetizer took 20+... our meals came about 10min. after that. All our food was hot & tasted excellent! We will come back to this place when we're in town!

Dear Dana from Arlington; Canton is the home of innumerable Italian eateries large and small, so it isn't all that crushing to see critiques of Gervasi's food. But as a showstopping shrine to wine culture, Gervasi is a must-visit. You'll enjoy the tasting flights and the ambiance. It's the perfect place to take a first date or to take your Nonnina to see her weep with nostalgic joy. Pure flamboyant fun.

Three stars for location and atmosphere. Location is excellent. Food and wine is less than impressive. We had their lunch menu. Artisan Piatti was excellent. The rest of our meal was not memorable. We were very disappointed with their wine. We tired 6 different ones, all were less than impressive. Great place to go for the atmosphere, just not sure you will get a meal worth the price you pay.

I honestly am shocked to see anything except less than stellar reviews of Gervasi. After living in DC for years, I am used to GOOD restaurants. I mean GOOD. I may even border on calling myself a food snob. ...But Gervasi didn't disappoint. This place hit a home run where it matters most: food quality, service, ambiance, price. The food was outstanding. My table all shared our dishes, and I can say without reservation that the crispy calamari, roasted apple mista salad and gelato trio are not to be missed. I had the pork braciola for dinner which also was excellent, albeit a bit fatty. However, the polenta and spinach dish were tasty beyond words and the pork itself was cooked to perfection. Additionally, the wine choices were unique, reasonably priced and paired well with the food. Furthermore, the ambiance was stunning. I loved the combination of old and new. The restaurant uses salvaged beams and flooring from an old barn but adds to it a lot of modern twists that give the impression of luxury without pretentiousness. I happened to visit when the restaurant was decorated for Christmas, and done so beautifully. No offense to Ohioans, but it was hard to believe that such a beautiful restaurant and property were basically smack dab in the middle of residential Canton. Finally, the service. All in all, the service here is what I would describe as "above and beyond". Gervasi aims to please - and they succeed. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. The management is also fantastic. Before arriving, I sent an email inquiry regarding what dishes could be modified to be gluten-free. I got a prompt response informing me that not only could dishes be modified, but Gervasi offers a separate gluten-free menu. Winning! I'm surprised they don't advertise this, because this is a real selling point. The owner's wife has Celiac Disease and because of this, the staff is well-trained to serve patrons with food allergies. When I mentioned to my server that I am gluten-free, he quickly offered to bring me bread rolls made from tapioca flour. What?! GF bread in a restaurant? I was in heaven. As if that wasn't enough, the arrival of my gluten-free crispy calamari (again, a rare treat - this one was made with rice flour), I had something of a religious experience. Long story short, this place is as good as it gets and I will return to Gervasi whenever I get the chance.

I was visiting from Cali and a gf of mine took me here! For that evening, I totally forgot that I was in Canton, OH! It's such a beautiful setting! There was a bit of a long wait and I wasn't a huge fan of the 2 wines that I tried but the ambiance was beautiful, and very relaxing! And the food was presented well and tasted great! You may not like it if you're a wine snob, but it's worthwhile to enjoy the beautiful lake, fire pit, and the live music!

Wow. Second time to Gervasi was pretty bad. We had to send the pizza back because it was undercooked. What's worse is how rushed the service was. If we hadn't told the waitress to slow it down, we would have been in and out of there in under 30 minutes. Not cool. Also, if a table orders a bottle of white and a bottle of red and you're a WINERY, you should offer both white and red wine glasses. One style of stemware doesn't do the trick.

This place is is one of the nicest places to eat in Ohio. The views and grounds are amazing. You would never expect to find this in the middle of canton, Ohio. The food and wine is good. Make sure to get reservations a few days ahead of time if you plan to eat inside. The outside patio has a separate menu from the inside but is still fantastic. They do not take reservations for the patio but it is usually just a short wait for a table. In fact, I actually prefer the outside food to the inside. You can also bring your own chairs and grab a bottle of wine to sit lakeside and enjoy the view. Gervasis also has great bocci ball courts and cornhole on the lawn. It is kid friendly as well and they have plenty of room for them to run around. You can dress in whatever you are comfortable in. Casual attire is perfectly acceptable for the patio. I really enjoy the laid back atmosphere and ambience of this place.

I love Love Love this place. This is going to be a long review because there is so much to discuss. the restaurant: The atmosphere is wonderful. Big rustic wooden dinner tables with big wooden chairs. Oversized wrought iron chandeliers. It's over the top but it works. The food is good. They have wood fired pizzas, great salads, pastas, meat dishes etc. Something for everyone. I have to admit as much as I love this place, I think the food is good but not fantastic. I'm not saying its bad by any means, I've just had better. They have a nutella pizza for dessert that is a must have! I have tried their wedge salad, very tasty. The short ribs, Yum. The pizza is good. The lobster pasta, good but not out of this world. The patio: or piazza as they call it. They have a great patio too. They have a more casual menu available on the patio. Like, sandwiches, salads, pizzas. You go order your food at the grill and then they give you a number and they bring it to your table. They also have a full bar but you have to stand in line to order drinks as well. Basically, its casual and you don't get a waiter. I'm not sure I love that idea but it works. They have an enormous fire pit in the middle of the patio surrounded by chairs for you to just chill. They have live music on the weekends. Fantastic place for date night with friends. the grounds: The grounds are just amazing. You don't even have to eat in the restaurant to be a guest. You can bring a picnic and sit in front of the lake or you can stop at the market place ( the store on the grounds) and purchase a bottle of wine to share. They now have a private area for weddings. It's beautiful!! The wine: The wine is delicious! They bring their grapes from California and the last time I was there I saw vines so I think they are also growing their own grapes for local wines. I will absolutely go back to this place and share this hidden little secret in Canton with many friends!

This is by far one of the most beautiful places in Northeast Ohio. My family enjoyed a nice Sunday Supper dinner at the Bistro for my dad's birthday. We were all blown away by how incredible the food was. The Sunday Supper special came with short ribs, mashed potatoes, salad, delicious bread and a nutella pizza for dessert. I highly recommend the Sunday Supper experience to anyone celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a romantic night out. I am already looking forward to my next visit!!

Absolutely out if this world. Great service and never felt rushed. Barber select wine one of the best I've ever had. App - stuffed peppers, spicy but delicious Pasta - chittara, straight from italy with a scallop to die for Main - short ribs spot in Dessert -- only slight disappointment here... Brownie with gelato is more like ice cream... You just can't get real gelato in the states.

I would love to give this place 4.5 stars if I could. What a nice dining experience! We were in the area and decided, on a whim, to book a reservation at The Bistro. We arrived early and decided to grab a drink from The Piazza and stroll the grounds. We had a nice glass of sangria which was perfect for the sunny day. The grounds are charming, picturesque, and very well kept. They have nice lawn games set up for guests or relaxing Adirondack chairs next to the lake. This would be a beautiful venue for a summer or fall wedding. Our server was Tara in The Bistro. She was friendly, professional and knowledgeable about all the wines and the food. She made some nice recommendations for my fiancé's wine flight that were spot on. We started with the smoked Gouda pierogis and the mushroom vol au vant. The only thing I would change would be not ordering these together to share because they are very rich! The vol au vant had a nice finish on the palate with the hints of their white wine in the sauce, and their choice of mushrooms was excellent. I detected at least 3 different types in the dish. For my entree, I chose the Chitarra Pasta. I would have preferred a little more crust on my seared scallops, but the quality of the scallops and size were good - velvety and buttery. Another personal preference is the amount of arugula used in the dish. It was overwhelming. The pasta itself was delicious and the garlic olive oil sauce was perfectly flavored without being flavorless or overpowering. My fiancé had their special of a blackened red fish served over calamari and gnocchi in a roasted corn sauce. I only sampled a bite, but I certainly would order it if I went back and saw it on the menu. My fiancé was extremely pleased with the dish and also said he would get it again. We even stopped at the shop and took home a few bottles of wine for our parents. For a spontaneous dinner in a small town, we think this place is a gem. We are already planning on returning for a trip here with friends for a nice day trip. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit.

I'm usually not a big fan of Italian food in general, so I was a little hesitant to come here for a friend's birthday. I'm glad we did! The restaurant is beautiful and grand, and ("romantically") dimly lit. I felt out of place in such a fancy establishment, (being unable to pronounce anything on the wine list added to the feeling), but the waitress was incredibly helpful and friendly, so it didn't take long for me to be comfortable. The meatballs were the best meatballs I have ever had in my life. I don't even like pasta, but I like their pasta. I was so excited to eat my leftovers for lunch the next day... good even when cold and eaten in the passenger seat. Definitely go for the wine tasting! A lot of fun, and educational. ;)

This was our 2nd visit. First time was during the week. We wanted to do the winery tour, so this trip was on Saturday. Honey and I tried the white wines at the bar in the Crush House while waiting for the noon tour. We enjoyed them all and also tried one of their imported reds. Nice. Judy did a great tour and we loved the Gervasi story. Her enthusiasm was evident and we were able to ask several questions. After the tour we had a lite lunch - the hummus tray plus soup and salad...also at the bar. We like the atmosphere very much and the food was decent and fresh, which is important to me. I rated GW a 4, but that is mainly for the atmosphere. We want to try the Bistro next time. Grounds are beautiful. Loved the story about Guiseppe and his swan mate. An interesting note - we have only been twice and both times a wait person tripped on the stairs to the 2nd level with a full tray of food. Sounds a little treacherous. We will return...for sure.

Gorgeous place. It is definitely a beautiful escape in Northeastern Ohio. This winery in canton is situated on 55 acres with beautiful vineyards, tuscan inspired villas, and serene pond. There are two major restaurants. The Bistro had a more expansive menu than the Crush House. The wine tastings are 5-12$ offered at the Crush House, where there tours till 3pm and there are tours of the vineyard as well. The Bistro feels like upscale lodge. The three villas have 4 bedrooms that can be rented by room or villa. This is a perfect weekend getaway or even a luxurious day trip.

This is a gem in Canton. Turning into the driveway I felt like j was in an entirely different place. The food was delicious especially the gnocchi. We had a wine flight and I love the moscato. The outdoor space is really nice too. Next time I think I'd just bring a blanket and sit there as wait times for the restaurants and the patio were especially really long. The crush house was less busy, but is sort of off the beaten path. I enjoyed playing bocce and listening to music from a wedding.

This place is breathtaking! Attended a wedding here at the pavilion and it was such a beautiful wedding. The grounds are amazing, the service was out of this world and the food was so delicious. Highly recommend visiting this place. The villas are so spacious and comforting. We will definitely return.

My husband and I are checking out of Gervasi today. We have enjoyed our stay for the most part. The villas are absolutely stunning, breakfast is incredible, and the grounds are gorgeous. The Crush House was our favorite of the three places to eat, it wasn't as formal as The Bistro but absolutely delicious with fantastic cocktails, food, and service. The Bistro is formal, it does not serve cocktails, only select bourbons, select beers, and wine, but the food and service was great. This is a beautiful resort, and the weddings that I saw were beautiful. Note that quiet time is 11, if there is a wedding, you'll be ready for quiet time as you can hear the music inside your villa, 2 villas away. The noise is the reason for 4/5 stars, if you are a light sleeper (such as myself) bringing earplugs is recommended but my husband is a heavy sleeper and has slept very well here, the beds are very comfortable.

With gift card in hand, my friend and I decided to check out Gervasi again. We called last minute to make a reservation and they were completely booked, but luckily they had a table available right when they opened. This time we checked out the Bistro Restaurant and were seated downstairs in what was made to look like a wine cellar. We decided to get a bunch of plates to share that way we could sample a variety of Gervasi's offerings. As we were celebrating a pregnancy no wine was consumed on this visit. Now on to the food... Corn Soup - This was really delicious! So much so that I scrapped the bowl with my bread. Smoked Gouda Pierogies - These were pretty tasty as well. Only four of them though. BBQ Maiale - Disappointing. Seemed like a lot of pizza crust and not enough sauce. Tuscan Beef Short Ribs - Very good. The meat melted in your mouth; everything worked well together and tasted great. Roasted Broccoli - Disappointing. I thought the broccoli was hard and the dough under cooked. Gnocchi Sorrento - This was okay, not outstanding, but not bad either. Hazelnut Brownies - This was just okay as well. Enjoyed the caramel center that oozed out of the brownies. We took a walk around and the scenery was beautiful, just be prepared for a large crowd of people. Had a busy country club feel to it. Overall we had a much better experience this time at Gervasi and I am glad I gave them a second shot. I would rate them a 3.5, but since the waiter did an excellent job I upped it to 4 stars. I would like to come back and check out this wine and food pairing experience I have heard about (and have some more of that corn soup!)

Totally worth the hour or so drive from Cleveland. The food was fantastic. The staff was kind and attentive. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Will spread the word about this place and will come again for sure! Thank you for a great evening.

We came to Gervasi over the weekend for a girls day. I have never been to another winery in Ohio but these grounds were beautiful. Such a relaxing and calming atmosphere. We decided to go with the winery tour and tasting which is $18 a person. You start at the crush house where you are taken back to where the wine ferments, learn a little about the wine making process, and peak into the bottling room. The tour was boring at times and I was getting antsy so taste wines! So after the tour your lead into a tasting room. At your seat you have 4 samples of wine and 4 small appetizers to pair them with. This was a great way to learn about what wines to pair with certain foods and it was fun to hear everyone's input. I would recommend this tour to anyone it made for a great day! After the tour there are plenty of other places to explore around the winery.

We made the a special trip here for the Holidays based on several friends recommendations. Eight of us rented a limo for the trip down and back. So it was a pricey evening. But it was worth it. A special occasion. Everybody was very happy with their meal selections and the service. The wine selection was very nice and they do a three wine 2oz flight so you can sample several. My GF and I did that and then both agreed on a bottle to order with dinner. Specials are very nice. I ordered the regular menu beef shanks. A very big portion. Tender and very tasty. The shredded brussel sprouts were unusual and good. Try them.

The most beautiful place I've ever stayed. I just love this place! Great wines & delicious food, not to mention the most fabulous grounds to walk around. I feel like I'm in another country when I'm here! I can't wait to come back for another stay. Love the Crush House addition too! :-)

We have stayed overnight at Gervasi twice now and both times we were very pleased. We only spend one night because we are fairly local and the villas are a bit pricey. If you are looking for a relaxing quiet getaway, I definitely recommend Gervasi. While the food and wine are just okay and not deserving of a "WOW!" the atmosphere, the villas, amenities, service, and general ambience is worth the extra $ when we do splurge.

I'm SO MAD at this company!! Their cancellation policy is fucking ridiculous and although I'm having a medical emergency and can't go anymore, they refuse to give my hotel room money back because they require 30 days notice!! 30 fucking days?! NO HOTEL DOES THAT! They are out of their rabid ass minds! How fucking selfish, rude and greedy!! Worst customer service I would not recommend this place to anybody!!!

We came here for our first anniversary. The grounds are spectacular. A wedding reception was going on while we were there. It was a Sunday so the Crush House was closed. I'd asked the hostess at the Piazza where to go for a tasting. She said she didn't know and she had to check with someone. Seriously? You work for a winery. I feel like that would be a common question...know the answer. She advised me to go to the Crush House but I reminded her that it's Sunday and it's closed so we headed indoors to the Bistro. Ugh. To do a tasting you can either sit at the high top tables which seem abnormally high to me. I'm 5'1" tall and couldn't get up on the chair without making a spectacle of myself so we had to stand at the tasting bar which wasn't fun because my husband is disabled and can't stand for long periods of time. We did a red flight and a white flight. Delicious! We then each bought a glass and headed outside to wait for our reservation time. We returned to the Bistro for dinner. Be prepared for things to move slowly. It is a lengthy dining experience. You don't order, pay and go. It's a place to slow down, sit and enjoy. I loved the crostini and we ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer. There was a disproportionate amount of bruschetta to topping. On each piece there was one to two bites that was just bread. My husband enjoyed his lobster fromaggio and I had the beef short ribs with gravy substituted as I don't do veal and the dish is typically served with veal gravy. It was very tender and fell apart. We ended with the nutella pizza. Yum! We also had ice cream with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate. I'm sure we will return but there is room for improvement. Edit: I just have to give props to Gervasi Vineyard -- the restaurant responded to my Yelp review in about 45 minutes! Very impressive.

Gervasi Vineyard is an amazing place for any occasion! The venue, staff, food and wine were outstanding! I personally had a red flight of wine and loved the "velvet". I would recommend the pirogies and a pizza for appetizers. I had the red fish special and my husband had the pork chop! Amazing! We will be back!

My now fiancé proposed to me here last night in front of the carriage! Perfect evening with a carriage ride first then a laid back dinner inside. There werent any tables available without a reservation, but it worked out nicely because they have couches up on the loft part which is cozy. Then the carolers showed up for an even better atmosphere. To top it off our waitress came out with a complimentary dessert at the end that had congratuations written in chocolate! Perfect evevening with to die for food/wine and atmosphere!!

Lovely surroundings but the food is little better than even mediocre. New chefs are needed. We have never really had a good meal there. However I must say the meatballs in the Crush House are the best I have ever eaten.

Great atmosphere, good food Gervasi was highly recommended to me for a memorable night so I just had to try them out. The land is beautiful and the decor of the Bistro (main dining building) was gorgeous. our waitress Kristy was very knowledgable and explained just about the whole wine and dinner menu which was nice being our first time. Started the meal with a wine tasting and the duck appetizer. I am terrible at picking out wine so that was a bust, but the duck appetizer was amazing. The table bread was also very good, I had to contain myself from eating too much and being full. For entree I had the scallops pasta dish and roasted broccoli. The roasted broccoli was over a puff pastry, very unique. It had good flavor, unfortunately the sauce under the pastry made it soggy. The scallops and shrimp pasta dish was good, but it did not wow me to be honest. The scallops had good flavor, but i prefer mine more browned on the outside. The pasta was alright, the sauce really was not a sauce but rather just oil. I think that threw me off. The shrimp were tasty, but again not spectacular. No complaints, but for as much as the bill ended up being would expect more memorable flavors.

I highly recommend visiting during the warmer months so you can dine alfresco and take a stroll around the grounds. The patio menu's way more limited than their indoor bistro but it's more casual and relaxing outside than inside. You go up to the counter to order your food and grab wine. Did I also mention they had a live band playing? Albeit everyone around us were at least twenty years older but my girlfriends and I held our own. My friend got a glass of their red (don't remember the name) while we all shared their grilled veggie pizza. Her wine was super sour--eck. The pizza was okay, not as memorable as the meal I had a couple of years ago (indoors). Their "pond/lake" had a few adirondack chairs and bocce ball courts. Still a lovely oasis in the Canton area, but gets bumped down a star for the food.

Have been here twice now. Once at the Crush House and once at the Bistro. Both have unique dining experiences. The Crush House is the bar and a little more informal but so nice! There's a nice patio up top that has beautiful views of the grounds. We ordered appetizers and drinks. The Sangria here was one of the best drinks I've ever had. The Bistro is gorgeous. It is now decorated for Christmas and I cannot say enough about how beautiful the grounds look, even in the cold. Our sever was so friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and wine. She was able to answer all of our questions. The food, delicious. From the bread they bring to our appetizers and meals, everything was wonderful. I have been to Napa and the only difference between Gervasi and a winery in California is simply location. This is just as nice if not nicer than some of the wineries I have been to out there. I cannot wait to go back here in the spring/summer to see what everything looks like in warm weather. Definitely worth the trip if coming from out of town. You'll never know you're in Canton!

Worth the drive -- it is a little over an hour to from my house. But it is worth every mile. As soon as you pass thru the gates - you are no longer in Ohio. You feel like you have been teleported to Tuscany. The vineyard surrounds you and dominates the landscape . The Villas are understated and charming and the grounds - with the lake are serene and lovely. The food is very good and thoughtful - the wine is average (but there is a large selection). But the best part is -- you can stay all day. It is the most relaxing and peaceful (and romantic) place in the area and possibly in this half of the country, no joke. We go every couple of weeks and take our own chairs - sit on the lawn with a pitcher of Sangria and forget all about the world as we watch for the home pair of swans to cruise by. Enchanting.

Super cool place and a def. stop you should make if traveling to Canton. We went to the Crush House (new wine bar) located right near the villas and had a drink before taking a tour. They offer free tours on Saturdays at 12,1, and 2. Our tour guide was fantastic and we learned a lot about wine making. Afterwards we headed to the bar for some samplings. They are between 5-8 dollars and you can mix and match what you would like to try. I tried 4 whites and my date tried a mixture of reds and whites. I also ordered a glass of red sangria which was delicious. They have a small plates menu and we the 3 appetizer trio which were fantastic! We went with the meatballs, loaded chips and cheese plate. The meatballs were on skewers with mozzarella cheese and a tomato. The sauce was fantastic! The loaded chips were tasty with a homemade cheese sauce, bacon and blue cheese crumbles on top of homemade chips. The cheese plate went perfectly with the wine tasting. I would love to go back and try their formal dining at the Bistro.

Rarely am I so moved to share a raving review. This is one of those rare occasions. This was our first visit to The Bistro at Gervasi Vineyard in Canton, OH. And we will definitely add it to our list of excellent dining. I include here a photo of the pork tenderloin centered in mashed sweet potatoes, topped with diced glazed apples and accompanied with fresh green beans. YUM!! The service is excellent. And the view over the lake is very romantic; especially at night.

Absolutely beautiful property. This is a great place for a wedding reception. The wine and service were wonderful. The food was OK. I found the price of the food to be too expensive for what was served. We ordered the specials and wished we had ordered off the menu as soon as our plates were placed on the table. I would go back and visit to give them another chance. I'm giving them 4 stars because this is what a real winery should always look like. Salud!

Living locally near Gervasi we have spent a number of enjoyable evenings dining there. Whether in the re-purposed barn named the Bistro, or out back on the Piazza with its separate menu the settings are designed to provide you a backdrop for a memorable occasion. The menu is designed to complement the vineyard's wines that yothis to u can choose to pare with your dinner. No meals are prepared with any wine sauces, unfortunately. (I presume they can make more profit from selling the wine separately.) Expect to pay $22. - $38. for the Specialty entrees. They have a nice selection of gluten free offerings. I just can't get past the Tuscan Beef Short Ribs, they are delicious. However... Our last visit was a huge disappointment for me. My dinner was extremely below the level they strive for. The specially prepared green beans had accidentally been dosed with an amount of salt akin to some being dumped mistakenly into it. My wife and I were there celebrating a special time for ourselves, it was Valentine's Day. So I fought to not allow it to detract from our time, but I also needed to eat. After pointing out two problems to our gracious waiter, I was about to ask for the chef to come out when he brought out from the kitchen a replacement for the ruined side dish. They were so good! It was too bad my mood was lowered due to this. To make it much worse, our waiter told me that the chef was perturbed that I had raised an issue. This hasn't been typical, but to be honest to you I need to share this regrettable experience. Accidents will happen, but having a chef with a bad attitude toward me like it was my fault after I had ordered a meal from the special menu designed for the day was very troubling. Check their website for their scheduled live music that performs out on the Piazza. I highly recommend Jim Kalal if you can make arrangements for when he and his wife, Sylvia perform. They are a rare team of highly accomplished abilities in the styles of Spanish music and dance. The grounds are well manicured providing beautiful scenery to enjoy whether dining or enjoying a stay at the Villas or the Farmhouse. The lake with both swans and ducks are serene and a part of what you can take in both while dining, or while taking a stroll. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4/2/15- In corresponding with Business Manager- Jeffrey H., (whose response is below) I have come to appreciate Gervasi's upper management. Jeffrey has his head in the right place.Rather than giving me empty lip service, he talked about how Gervasi would work at improvement. Though offered, I declined any compensation in this case since it was not my objective. More important to me, I feel my time has been well spent in assisting this extraordinary establishment in some small improvements. * I write my reviews for the benefit of fellow diners, and if the establishment is interested in making any needed improvement, providing feedback to help with that.

This place requires two reviews. One for the inside bistro, and one for the outside patio. They have different menus and they are very different in nature. So... Bistro - 3.5 Stars. They try to make it feel like a "fancy" restaurant and the prices certainly reflect that. The food overall is good, but not great. They have some decent pasta dishes and some pretty solid appetizers. Not many places in town use bucatini pasta so that was a nice change. This is a winery, so you would expect the wine to be pretty awesome, but its just OK. The best part about this place is the grounds as a whole and the atmosphere. If there is such a thing, the who's who of Canton will generally be here. Very trendy place to be right now. Outside patio - 3.5 stars. This excels also in the ambiance/veiw category. The main reason to come here would be to enjoy the view, walk around and enjoy the games they have on the lawn area. The feeling can certainly take you away from Canton. However, the food is just slightly above average. The pizzas are good - from scratch and prepared well, but nothing phenomenal. Again, the wine is average. As a whole probably the worst part about this place is the wait. For the bistro you better make reservations weeks in advance. For the patio you better get there at 4:30pm for dinner or prepare for a 1.5-2 hour wait. Unless you have a picnic on the grass with your food.

Gervasi offers lovely grounds but I found the food mediocre and the red wine, particularly the Sangiovese, awful. Overall, a overrated overpriced experience. I should add that after our party was reduced from 6 To 3 we were stuck in the basement under the stairs as if to say we were the red headed step child. Staring at the wet floor sign under the stairs did NOT add to the expensive experience. The only reason I awarded 2 stars was for excellent service.

Zero stars if I could. Really poor outside service. Their computer systems were down and they did not want to take our orders. They couldn't use common sense and take our orders with a pen and paper. Staff and manager were very unfriendly and not accommodating to our large party. We had to go inside and eat due to rain. The server was good but the wait for the food was ridiculous! The food was very forgettable! Better restaurants and service elsewhere.

We met friends at the Bistro on a Sunday afternoon for wine sampling and dinner. The Bistro's ambience is romantic and private. The food (pasta) was cooked to order and complimented our wines nicely. We loved the wine sampler flights (3 for $7.50). Our waitress was VERY knowledgable and personable. It was a lovely day made even better by close friends, good food and wine, and a beautiful venue.

My second time here - this time we had a group of eight. The meals were excellent. I had the Chilean sea bass and it was quite good (though not the best that I have had). The really cool thing though is that one of my guests was gluten free and they had an extensive menu for that. They were also very accommodating on the other items that he wanted changed out. That is hard to come by.

Sweet potato soup was delicious--sweet and spicy. Spring salad with added salmon was great. The dressing, which I requested on the side, was deliciously sweet and sour. The salmon was cooked to perfection--crisp on the outside; moist on the inside. Enjoyed the gelato trio for dessert (pistachio, vanilla and one other flavor). Service was perfect; ambience was wonderful. We were seated on the lower level in a room which resembled a wine cellar. The upper level tables have the better view, I realized afterwards. If the weather is nice, allow time to stroll around the grounds.

Chef Rocco was fabulous the menu has so much to choose from for any dietary standpoint and if not listed everything can be modified and cooked to order. We ordered many different things so we could have little tastes and lots of left overs. Everything was incredible. My husband had the pork and a side of the pasta with bolognese, I had ravioli with a side of risotto, we shared the pierogi appetizer, potatoe leek soup, Cesar salad, the taste was superb. Our anniversary gelato was a beautiful touch. Natalie our server was outstanding very attentive, pleasant, and made our night complete. Oh the wine ...we had zin zin it was great, the limoncello was just ok I cannot wait to return in the summer. We stayed in the villa which I highly recommend.

I'm just curious why the manager hasn't responded to this review as he seems to do for others. I would genuinely like to know what reasoning is behind the cafeteria style food and drink ordering practice. It can't be to save on labor costs, there are plenty of employees it seems. A truly good restaurant accommodates their guests, it doesn't stand on the "rules" when a reasonable request is made. I really want to know because I would like to go back. It's a truly unique and beautiful place to dine.

What an amazing dining experience! Went here on a Saturday night for an anniversary dinner & it turned out to be one of the best date nights we've had. The atmosphere was nice but relaxed, and was decorated very pretty for the holidays. We started off sampling a few dry reds, all of which were good (but I wasn't blown away). We had the appetizer special, 1lb of mussels in a garlic white-wine sauce, which was really good. We counted just over 3 dozen mussels for a mere $12, which would have been much more expensive anywhere else. The bread that comes out before your meal was good too - but word of caution, it comes with parmesan cheese on it, so if you don't like/can't have cheese, you may want to request a few plain pieces as you're seated. For dinner, I had the beef short ribs, which were to die for & easily the most tender ones I've ever had. My guy got some sort of homemade pasta ravioli stuffed with ricotta and meat and served with root vegetables, which he said were very good as well. Portion sizes were pretty large. At the end of the meal, we were surprised with a special dessert plate (our waiter asked at the beginning of the meal if we were celebrating anything special & we told him it was our anniversary). The plate was inscribed in dark chocolate with "Happy Anniversary" and included two small scoops of vanilla gelato with white chocolate covered cherries on top. It was a perfect ending to an amazing dinner! Would highly recommend for special occasions.

I would give this place more stars if I could. My husband and I stayed in a Villa for Valentine's Day. We had couples massages in the villa, we took a tour, tried a flight and some lunch at the Crush House. We also visited the marketplace and had reservations for the Bistro. Everything was beautiful. The staff was wonderful and the food was AMAZING. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and drinks. We ordered a bottle of wine to our room. Even leading up to our trip, the staff was wonderful with communicating with me. The history was very interesting. We will definitely be back. Romantic and the best Valentine's Day I've ever had. So glad that we spent it at Gervasi!! Greek nachos, the steak, the beef short ribs, the lamp lollipops, and the perogies... holy cow!

I do believe some people worship Gervasi but I sure don't have my heads in the cloud on this place. It's OK based on the food and drink prices and awesome on the atmosphere. VILLAS: I spent 2 nights in the Sorrento Villa on a Wednesday/Thursday night. I arrived fairly early on Wednesday morning, around 10AM to check-in and they did have a room ready for me. Check-in was quick and the lady was so friendly and helpful with explaining everything. We had the entire villa to ourselves and it was the closest to the water so it was so peaceful to eat breakfast, lunch or just relax outside. The villas do share a common space but because we were the only ones we have no complaints on noise. The fridges are stocked with all kinds of juices, sodas, waters and also some yogurt and fruit you can take. Also every morning they leave a breakfast for you of pasties and other assorted muffins. First night we did the 2 floor king suite and it was nice but since we were the only ones in the villa on the 2nd night we switched to the regular room across the hall. The only complaint I have is noise. Even in the 2 story suite we could still hear every door shutting despite being upstairs (they come in the middle of the night to pick up/drop off breakfast around 7am). FOOD & DRINK: I have only eaten on the patio and personally I think you pay for the atmosphere because the food really isn't anything amazing. I have had the cheese panini for $9 and it was something I could make. NOT worth $9 at all for being OK. I have also had the burger which was overcooked and dry, again not worth the price. Everything is just so overpriced for basic food, nothing special. Drinks are also costly. $9 for a glass of wine, really?? The pitcher of sangria is worth it though as it goes along way for $22 and it is very good. SO, I'll be back but maybe try the inside for dinner but it's not on the top of my list.

Beautiful vineyard in an unexpected location. This was the most recent venue for my fine dining group. At the time, Gervasi's was offering its 2013 Spring Menu. Pros - The bistro has lovely views of their lake. The restaurant exudes a warm, old world charm. We were seated next to a lovely fireplace. Excellent service overall though the staff did forget to refresh my utensils once between courses. The wine flight is a great way to sample the various wines Gervasi makes. They also have round tables for bigger groups (long rectangular tables makes conversation flow challenging). Must Taste - Pepi di Vitello. These are banana peppers stuffed with risotto, veal, caramelized onions, and tomato sauce. This is a delightful blend of textures, sweetness, and acidity. One could make this a meal in itself. Also worth mentioning were osso buco and short ribs. Why I Did Not Rate It 4-Stars - (1) My entree was disappointing. I ordered the Gnocchi with beef tips, pearl onions, morels, asparagus and cherry tomatoes with a rosemary veal sauce. Although the combination looks smashing on paper, in execution it leaves much to be desired. The gnocchi was not as light as I would have liked, and the beef tips were surprisingly dry. (2) Limited dessert choices. The Nutella Pizza plays to my preference for salt-sweet foods but the vanilla gelato accompaniment bore little resemblance to the delicious concoctions I savored in Italy (or Little Italy for that matter). The gelato trio was equally disappointing in its selection. And, of course, with so many Italian bakeries in NE Ohio, the dolce piatti suffered by comparison. (3) This menu played it safe. Entrees were served with mashed potatoes, fingerling potatoes, or seasonal vegetables. While they were delicious and had excellent flavor, the surprise factor was missing. Overall, I would recommend Gervasi for family dinners, business meals, and even first dates (truly a romantic venue!). However, if (1) you're a foodie looking for that wow-factor in your dining experience or (2) you're in search of authentic Italian you may be in for a disappointment.

I have been to Gervasi countless times. Their outdoor patio & grounds are gorgeous. The newer crush house is just as beautiful. This location makes for a great girls night out. We often order apps & split a btl or order their sangria by the pitcher. This winery makes you feel as if you are not in Ohio. I highly recommend Gervasi to everyone.

The atmosphere was great. The food was average at best. Overall if you are going there for the atmosphere and the wine but not the food its worth it. My advice is go to Youngstown, Detroit, Chicago or the east coast for Italian food and come here for drinks and kicking back on the patio and soaking in the overall atmosphere to relax. They desperately need a new chef for those of us that are Italian or Sicilian because the food is nowhere near up to true Italian par. Service was great though overall.

This place would be perfect if only the food and wine were on par with the spectacular surroundings. Sadly, they are not. Cant beat the atmosphere, tho.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
