We stopped for lunch. I had the trail fried bologna and Swiss. It was not good at all. My aunt had the fried ham sandwich. It came on a bun that was soggy. It was very fatty and hard to eat on a soggy bun.

After reading reviews, I thought this would be a no brainer but this is nothing more then a diner. No frills. I'm looking for being a part of the fabric of the community but it wasn't here. I think there were better choices for tourists like myself that day.

This is the place to go for good 'ol home cooking! Cole Slaw is outstanding and fries with hamburger steak well flavored. Did not get dessert (too full), but I overheard other diners give big smiles for their pie selection.

This is a busy little restaurant with some fantastic food. It is a cash or check only place. The food is amazing with good portion size and good prices. It can get very busy.

we loved it ! sat at the counter - attentive service - iced cold waters and plenty of iced tea re-fills! big slices of home made bread...grilled chicken salad a big meal at a small price and delicious...nothing fancy - simple meals with fresh ingredients...husband had fried chicken with mashed potatoes gravy and noodles...we filled up fast ! the atmosphere reminded me of my grandmas kitchen - lively with happy faces...would go again and again until i had everything on the menu...if you are expecting flare and/or fancy - you won't find it here - just honest business with good wholesome real food !

The best local Amish cooking in town. As a local myself my family comes here often and we are never disappointed. Usually busy over the weekends but worth the wait. They have very fast service and great waitresses. Overall, a great Amish country restaurant.

Our waitress was very friendly and provided good service. Food was ok. I would actually give them a 3, as it was average, except for the pie. The pie is wonderful. Plus, since we were there right before closing, they gave us a free piece of pie since they would be throwing it away anyways. First restaurant I've been to where they would rather give there customers something free rather than toss it out. And that pie, banana cream, was delicious. For that, they get 4 stars.

True small-town diner experience. Very crowded when we walked in around noon but lucked out and got a table almost right away. Diner food which is to be expected. I got the Hot Sandwich which was roast beef on bread with mashed potatoes and gravy. Good old down-home, stick-to-your-ribs meal and very tasty. No room for pie, but looks like they had an extensive list of slices available.

Came around 2 pm and the place was still hopping. This diner, that has expanded into a full fledged restaurant space, serves a good mix of food you'd find at your run of the mill community picnic, and breakfast diner fare. I ordered the hamburger steak (two hamburger patties stacked on top of one another) with potato salad and corn. I was expecting a hamburger that had onions, peppers, bread, and egg mixed in the patty. But after, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked not having all that extra flavor, because I could taste the beef. The potato salad had shredded potatoes instead of cubed or mashed, was quite zingy and went well with the beef. Thankfully it was only a small portion, so I was able to eat it all. The corn, well, tasted of corn and was delicious. Great service, and a lively atmosphere. Definitely a good choice for grub if you're passing through.

We just had lunch. The wait was only about five minutes. We had the turkey club and it was great, and the peach pie was delicious . This was our first time at this restaurant .

Just an OK place to eat if you're in the area. The best thing about this place is that you're among the locals. Nothing blew us away but we did enjoy the coleslaw and the bread. Parking is somewhat difficult to come by so try them during their dinner service so that you can find a spot right in front.

On of the best places to stop at for breakfast when your in no work mode and want to just chill out and eat some great food with the amish.

It was dinner time and the streets were busy, but we took a chance to see if we would have to wait for a table. Luckily, a single table for two was open and we took it. The young lady in traditional amish or mennonite garb took our order and made us feel at home. While my wife went with chili and fried mushrooms, I ordered a favorite from my childhood past: liver and onions. How great to have such a memorable meal to spark the memory of one's mother cooking up a similar meal in her frying skillet. We wanted to return for a piece of homemade banana cream pie, but our schedule didn't allow it. I guess we'll have to return someday. This slice of homemade goodness beats those chain restaurants hands down.

My friend loves the ham loaf here, and it was good. I got the fish which was just OK - reminded me of cafeteria fare. The cole slaw was really good. The mashed potatoes were kind of runny & salty. Service was fairly good. The bathroom had a sewer smell. Cash or check only. Two people tripped & fell on the sidewalk outside our window so beware.

EXCELLENT hot roast beef sandwich. We had the half serving and it was delicious. We also added green beans and they were fabulous too. The roast beef tasted like I used to have as a kid. Tender, beefy tasting, high quality, melt-in-your mouth good. But then I had the elderberry pie ala mode and OMG was it wonderful. The elderberries were so tasty and the ice cream was so creamy. Nothing was too sweet either. My husband had the blackberry cobbler and the blackberries were like wild blackberries, so tasty, and again the softserve was AMAZING. We're DQ fans but this puts DQ to shame. Not too sweet, but creamy and tasty. YUM YUM YUM. We came in around 2 after arriving in Berlin at the Scenic HIlls RV Park and rode our bikes in. No waiting. Very good.

This place is in the heart of Amish country in Holmes County. The restaurant seems to have two mottoes: 1) "The best home cooking since 1938"; and 2) "Where the locals eat." Berlin is a small town, but hustling, bustling & busy. We toured Holmes County and Berlin is clearly where the action is. We chose this place to eat lunch because there was actually a line out front waiting to get in.We joined the line, but it moved quickly and soon we were seated. The extensive menu is printed on the place mat with specials written upon a board. Between the two of us, we shared the Swiss steak with mashed potatoes & carrots, a special, and the fresh salad bowl special. Both were fine. For dessert we had the date pudding, which is apparently one of the house specialties, and it was terrific, even if we did have to spoon off the huge over supply of cool whip on top of it. It was the best part of the meal. This place is essentially a diner, with diner prices and diner food in ample portions, and it is indeed popular with the locals.

This is a classic diner style restaraunt that you feel is lost in the '50s. The food here is great, it is one of my favorite breakfast spots. If you do want to eat breakfast here, I suggest you have a backup plan. The place is often full and you will need to wait.

We were visiting Berlin and needed a spot for dinner. Consulting Yelp, we thought we would give this spot a try. Granted, I'm not am Amish food enthusiast, but expected something a little different. I ordered the evening special of Ham Loaf with mashed potatoes and corn. Dev had the pork chop with noodles and corn. Both were served with a thick slice of freshly baked bread and butter. Yum! My ham loaf was interesting. Sweeter than I'd expected, but not unpleasant. The mashed potatoes were good, but were served with some pre-fab instant gravy that hadn't been mentioned. Skip it. The corn was canned and disappointing. Dev's pork chop was 'just okay '. Kind of tough. The noodles were very plain. So we both ordered fresh peach pie to go. I make fresh peach pie and that's what I was expecting. This pie contained bright orange peaches in bright orange filling covered in Cool Whip. Not real whipped cream, even. I guess I expected real, homemade food. Maybe I just don't understand the draw here.....
