First of all, I don't know what Sean O. is talking about; I have had many, many wonderful experiences at Uptown Grill!!! As far as having to wait a little bit during lunch hours...this is NOT some fast food joint where the food sits under heat lamps. The fries are freshly cut and deep fried, and not once have I ever heard anyone say that they are greasy. They are very much like the awesome fries that you can only get at a fair or festival. The sauce on the ChickenNWaffle sandwich is an amazing combination of sweet, salty and with just a little kick. If there wasn't enough on your sandwich, you should have asked for more. Most people don't want their sandwich drenched in any type of sauce. I have tried almost every sandwich on their menu and am a huge fan! I had family members in from Colorado and they loved the food so much, that they actually made a special trip to Athens before they left to fill up!!!! The staff are always friendly, funny and accommodating. This place is so busy on weekend nights that yes, it does get a bit crazy, but that never reflects in the service or quality of food... I would recommend this spot to anyone from kids to seniors, and this review comes from a Bobcat Alumni!!!! #OUOHYEAH

LOVE the chicken n waffle! People rave about it and I know why. Just the best sandwich I have ever eaten. My dad came for parents weekend and ate one at 2am and yelled, "chicken and waffle baby!" as we were walking home. As much as he embarrassed me and scared the people on the porch of the house we were walking by, the c&w is that good! There is usually a line down Union street for this little hole in the wall place. Only in Athens, makes it that much more special. :)

I'm a 3 strikes guy...I've eaten at this place 3 times in the last month and have had nothing but problems...First visit was around lunch time and there was only one person working everything...for there only being one person working at that time she didn't a good job, but totally understaffed for around lunch time..had the fries can within a few minutes they turned into a lump of grease soaked of something..asked for a refund and the one person there refunded the price of the fries. 2nd visit.. what a nightmare..bars were getting ready to close so I stopped there to give it a second chance..ordered this chicken and waffle sandwich..the sauce had no taste at all and the chicken was only half done..tried the fries again and they again turned into a lump of grease..I spoke to a older lady and asked if they could put my chicken back on the grill to cook is some more or if I could order something new..she just rolled her eyes at me snatched it from my hand threw it in the trash and said sure...I said since that was your attitude I just want my money back...after 10 minutes of going back and forth she gave it to me 3rd visit..(I know what was I thinking) same thing bars were closing stopped by and the older lady said you again huh?? Played it safe ordered a burger..came out wrong bun only half done...didn't want to go through the hassle with the old lady again so I threw it away and decided to never go back...will stick with diner food or bar food.. No way in the world would I recommend this place..went 3 times and wanted to like it...

As you are walking up Union st, you may come across a simple window selling chicken and waffle sandwich among other things. That place would be uptown grill - a name that doesn't really describe the place but certainly appeals to the individual who needs to soak up the copious amount of delicious beer from Jackie O's which is right across the street. A soft, large Belgian waffle on both sides of a thin piece of fried chicken breast with a nice honey mustard style sauce describes the $5 sandwich. It's pretty good and boy did it hit the spot for me. This was my first time eating one of these, but it won't be my last.
