This is our favorite place to go! We eat on the hibachi side. My wife and i order the angry dragon off the sushi menu. Then i get the triple combo with extra fried rice and she gets the triple combo with extra noodles. We love the yum yum sauce so much we buy a quart of it for home. I usually don't eat left overs but i love yhe lrftovers from Wasabi.

It was large portions and great food. I got sashimi, which was delicious, but the salmon was not very good. It was fresh, but not the best quality... Didn't taste much like salmon. I am from DC where you pay higher prices for less food, so this is a great place in my opinion. Our waitress was very nice and gave me a free bowl of miso soup. Definitely try it!

I came here for dinner. I ordered a drink, hibachi chicken and filet combo, and fried rice and it was ~$37. Pretty average price for a hibachi restaurant. The drink was really strong, but didn't taste great. But, it gave me a buzz, so that's ok. Unlike most other hibachi places I've been to, they give you your meat, veggies, white rice (fried rice is a $2 upgrade) and lo mein. I've never been to a hibachi place that gives you two starches...usually it's just one. However, since I was paying extra for the fried rice, I was a little upset that I just got a tiny bowl of it. But, having two starches made up for it I guess. The filet was perfectly cooked and the chicken was well done. The flavor was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. Something that I ate gave me a stomach ache. My guess is that the yum yum sauce was the culprit. After our order was taken, we waited for about an hour for the chef to come to our table. Some others at the table ordered appetizers, so maybe they were waiting for them to finish. But, it's not fair to make me wait for people I don't know (or maybe they were just understaffed that night). Once the chef arrived, everything was finished in about 20 minutes. I'd rate the food 4 stars, but since I had to wait an hour for the chef, I'm rating my overall experience 3 stars.

When my dad, my mom, and I went to Wasabi, we had the habachi. This is what each of us got; Me- Chicken & Sirloin Steak -$24 Dad- chicken & Sirlion Steak -$24 Mom- Scallops & Sirloin Steak -$26 The food was amazing and fast. The chef was hilarious! I don't have much to say but I would give it 5 stars. The total price was $85.40. But the food was worth it.

This place was next to our hotel and out of the 8+ places that were close wasabi had the best rating. I'm so glade we came, the food was amazing the server was very nice and the management treats the customers very well. We were waiting on our table and customers who had pick up orders would get their food and the manager would carry their bag to the car for them. To me that is caring about your customers. I recommend this place if your looking for a good meal.

Worst service from the manager! I visited this establishment with my coworkers and was greeted by 2 servers. I pointed to the item on the menu and ordered the teriyaki steak and lobster, $25. Apparently the new server put the wrong item on the grill and I was charged for a meal that costs $9 more. When I got the bill, I asked the more tenured server and she spoke with the owner/manager. He said because I ate it, he was charging me for the entire meal. I asked to speak with him and he came to my table and said I should've noticed it was wrong and not eaten the meal. He then asked me if I could not afford to eat there. I asked him if he was insulting me and he then said he would take off the $9 difference after trying to negotiate from taking off $4.50. The chef was also strange, one of my coworkers said she didn't want her noodles and extra pieces of shrimp so he put the extra food in a bucket and said he was allowed to keep it for himself. It was odd and unprofessional as most hibachi grills just distribute the extras among the other customers at the table. The floor is also extremely greasy. This was my 2nd time there and I noticed I almost slipped on the floor near the hibachi tables both times. All in all, I will never go back and my coworkers agreed.

Great service & food! Totally like the atmosphere there. When we arrived, there were tons of people waiting on hibachi. The host told me that the max wait for hibachi was about 30 mins on Friday night , and, surprisingly he delivered. The chief is very friendly & entertaining. The portion of food is more than enough for two people. The reason that I gave 4 stars is because the vegetables seems not too fresh. The chief didn't cook long for the vegetables but some of my vegetables were super soft already. That's the only down side that I had that night. Otherwise, it wood have been perfect!

The amount of food is crazy! Lol u won't leave hungry, the person that does the show is good. A lot of garlic in the fried rice. The sauces are all great a wonderful experience. It's very low lighting take your miners hat lol blk granite counter tops track lighting. A wonderful experience for a large group. Full sushi bar a great place to eat and have a good time a must see when passing through.

Wow! Believe it or not, I had a great sushi dinner in Akron OH. I've eaten at this place once before, about 3 years ago for a business dinner and don't remember it being anything memorable. This time I stopped in with my wife and two kids after a long derive out from Buffalo. The entranceway is really cool, with waterfalls, a koi pond, and Japanese drums. It feels a little like Epcot Japan. We sat in the dining room off to the side (not the hibachi area). My wife and I had the Wasabi Special Sushi for 2 and I have to say, it was really, really good. An assortment of maki, nigiri, and sashimi and they threw in some interesting items that don't always make chefs choice dinners, such as octopus and white tuna. Everything tasted very fresh and was expertly prepared. I like the way they scored the tops of the fish on some of the nigiri to make it even more melt in the mouth. The only criticism I could level was that the tuna sashimi was a little chewy, like perhaps it was cut a bit too thick. Miso soup and ginger dressing salad were also very good, albeit standard. We also ordered edamame and a chicken teriyaki dinner for my kids to share. The service was extremely quick and friendly and I appreciate that the waitress brought my daughters each their own salad, soup, rice etc despite the fact that they were sharing an entree. The chicken was so good the kids devoured it and we ended up ordering a second. My wife and I also split a bottle of sake and the total bill was still under $100. Good value. Highly recommended. I'd give it 4.5 stars if that was an option. Can't award 5 only because there's nothing particularly unique about the place and I reserve that for one of a kind experiences.

I was pleasantly surprised...Very Good Sushi! Started with the tuna tartare, it was great and just the right size. Small pieces of tuna stacked with avocado, masago, along with some tasty sauce on the plate. The chirasi was huge , for $19 I received so much fish I couldn't finish it all. Everything was fresh and very tasty. Although I did not order any rolls I saw a lot of them being made and they all looked great!

We had a friend visiting from the Philippines and thought this might give her a little flavor from home. There was a wait for hibachi so we did traditional. That was probably the wrong choice. We had the soy bean appetizer and the steamed dumplings. Both were ok. We then had the misho soup and salad and we all got a teriyaki dish. Soup and salad were just OK. Teriyaki had a good taste, but steak was a bit tough. Rice was a big lump. Fried rice, at a surcharge, had little flavor. Prices were decent and service was good. I think we just ordered the wrong items. Everyone seemed to be taking food home, but we ate all ours. Didn't think the portions were that big.

Still the best in town for sushi and hibachi experience. Great staff, skilled and friendly (also funny) chefs. If a restaurant can stay open on "restaurant hill" as long as they have and still have a wait at the door, they are obviously doing something right. Check them out, call ahead for reservations they do get busy.

This is the best hibachi you will find! The other hibachi restaurants don't compare, in my opinion. This place has the best quality by far, in comparison to any other hibachi I've had. The ambiance is so much more intimate than any other place similar. Hibachi places always seem to be so loud and hectic, this place isn't like that. It's more upscale than that. It's a little more pricier-but you're paying for the quality. The sushi is also a great option. I'm a huge sushi lover, and they have one of the best. The servers are superb, they are prompt and will answer any questions you may have. Now, let's get to the reason you want to come to a hibachi place to begin with-the HIBACHI GRILL AND SHOW. Awesome. These chefs are a lot more involved with the crowd, in my opinion, than you will find any where else. They seem to really enjoy putting on the same show every night. They all switch up their routines a little bit, which is a nice change of pace (and probably for them too). But the food they prepare for you, is SO worth the wait. Every appetizer they serve you-gets better and better as the show goes on. The salad, the sushi, the veggies, the soup, everything is good. I like to hold out for this dinner to celebrate on my birthday every year, because it can be pricey. And if you go here, you like to go all out-get the sushi and the filet mignon and all that jazz. It's a great place for a romantic night for two as well. There's a separate dining room for a dining night out-versus the whole hibachi show side of the restaurant, which I would say is great for a night out with the family, but definitely not limited to that. The dining side is a nice change of pace though, you can get all the same food that they cook up for you on the other side, or go for a more "normal" menu options they have on that side too (salads, sushi, seafood). Go out and enjoy the show with your loved one OR the family!

A good to very good hibachi restaurant. Pretty typical from other ones I've tried. I got the sirloin steak for $24 which is expected and came with soup, salad and shrimp. Didn't try the sushi. Also, squirting sake into your mouth for free is pretty cool.

Out of the ENTIRE world, this is my favorite restaurant. I moved to LA and still every time I'm in town I cannot wait to go here. It is DELISH! The Montrose Roll perfectly fulfills my "white girl sushi" requirements. The staff is always very nice, the atmosphere is gorgeous, and it's a darn good restaurant for Akron, Ohio. You MUST check it out. And you MUST have the Montrose Roll. PROTIP: Sit on the regular restaurant side if you're above the age of 6 and below the age of 76 (my grandmother is OBSESSED with the stupid hibachi show - she thinks it's like seeing fireworks and getting kisses from Santa at the same time). You will not smell like a Japanese kitchen, and there is so much less noise and drama with kids and such. It's much more peaceful on the other side. And they will serve you the same exact thing.

We were planning to go to Outback when they were super packed so we decided to do a quick sit down at Wasabi. Was here 3/29 at 6:00 pm. The dinner tables were very serene and classic with a view of the sushi chef's prep table. I ordered a Tempura Udon and a volcano Maki sushi. My friend ordered a Kyoto Box and shared their green tea mochi amongst the 3 of us. My other friend ordered 2 sushi dishes that came with rice. All our meals came with miso soup and sweet ginger dressing salad. A waitress stopped by and offered me some spice powder for my Udon, I really enjoyed it, not overwhelmingly hot at all, great flavor. The quality of the food is like it's been handled with care, buffets don't have that quality and it was a lovely experience. I took home most of my udon though XD. There is also a Wasabi restaurant in Seven Hills/Independence so I guess if I am craving this location, I could stop there. The open bar is visible at the Hills location once you walk in, in Akron it's the Koi Pond and hostesses. Love it~

Such a fun experience, it truly is dinner in a show! The staff is very friendly and determined to make you enjoy your experience. Like all hibachi, the signature onion volcano was included along with many other treats like sake being squirted into your mouth! How fun! In addition, the sushi was incredible. I would highly recommend the red dragon and fantastic rolls!

I thought the atmosphere was splendid. I did not expect this place to be so beautiful as a $$ establishment, but I was wowed. We were seated despite being late for our reservation then we wanted to change to a private room and they easily accommodated us. Appetizers and entrees were delicious and waitress was very attentive. It was 10 degrees out and we had a private room where we could sit on pads crossed legged and it was warm and cozy. It made for a great group meal and the prices were excellent for such a fine experience. Will be coming back.

Consistently interesting food, suitable for a wide variety of tastes. We took grandparents, parents and kids out to a celebration dinner there - and everyone left delighted. The noise level was low enough to allow spirited conversation - at a normal volume. Our waiter really knew the menu well, and was able to guide everyone through the interesting menu to find food that delighted. Highly recommend.

Great food and service. The chef was very friendly and exceptionally good with kids. Highly recommended for kids. Portions were good, we split the hibachi meal ( there is a $6 charge ) and it was more than enough. The only bad part was the smell that stuck in our clothes, my jacket was smelling with food for a long time. It also seems to be a bit too crowded. Great place, will go again for sure.

Wasabi was a hopping on 7pm, Saturday night: the bar was in fact standing room only ! I avoid Montrose (aka: strip mall/sprawl/suburban hell, land of Applebee's) as much as possible but Wasabi appears to be the only restaurant with any sort of sophistication or trendiness [yes, this sounds snobbish, le sigh]. It's dark stone and a small stream and pond underneath you as you walk in. There's recessed lighting, water fountains, coat check; yes, these are signs of sophistication for Montrose.. The food itself ? Okay (I don't have Asian cuisines enough). I had the scallops - scallops weren't flavored with anything unfortunately. As a full dinner, it came with miso soup, and a small salad with ginger dressing. Everyone else in the party of 8 was satisfied with their meal for the most part. It was a reasonable $19 or 22 for my meal, 6-8 large scallops, very generous side of white rice, the miso soup, and small salad. Best moment of the night: it was a birthday, we had baked vegan apple cookies for the birthday gal. We offered extras to our server and the bus boy. Bus boy came back for seconds, got a cookie, walked away, forgot about the plates... hehe.

Went here for a company party and they were very accommodating. There were about 20 of us and some of us had sushi and most of had hibachi. They do offer lunch portions and they were affordable for what you get. The place is very modern with a contemporary feel to it. The furniture is comfortable and inside looks like you literally stepped into a Japanese restaurant. There were wooden logs around each hibachi table. The cooks were entertaining and also more fun when you see your co-workers get sake shot in their mouths. I had ordered their shrimp and steak lunch portion and it would've been nice if I had more shrimp. I only got 3 and the person next to me didn't even order shrimp for his lunch so maybe the server forgot about it. Drinks are made strong but nice to know that it's worth the price. Their desserts were also good as well. I ordered their mochi $5, for 3 flavors. Strawberry, Green Tea, and Mango. NIce ending from a good meal. The hibachi meal by the way comes with lo mein noodles, fried rice/white, and vegetables. Salad comes with it too. Overall good experience. Tip: Lunch special 3 maki rolls for $9.

Well I had a chance to eat here two nights in a row and that says a lot! Out here for business and craving sushi like mad I do remember seeing this place and wondering what it was all about. The parking lot seems endlessly full at all times and I love sushi but I must say I am very jaded being that I am from California, the SF Bay Area to boot, and lets face it; we do have awesome sushi joints at are finger tips at all times. Jaded as hell, I enter through the first set of doors and am greeted by a nice Plexiglas walk way serving as a bridge. Under lays a nice Koi pond being filled with water from a waterfall. This is very nice I think to myself as I head into the main door and greeted. This place was packed to the gills. One side of place serves as a hibachi. Very famous indeed and nice for them occasion to wine and dine friends, family, coworkers, and that girl you are trying to get in bed. LOL yes I blew the cover on that one because I surely saw a few dudes trying a bit hard on their dates! Behind the greeters counter is a full bar, though I did not get a good look at it it appears and sounded to be much fun. To the right is the dining area with private booths, very traditional Japanese status; aka taking off your shoes and sitting on the floor. There is also some regular tables, for those who have stinky feet; hahaahahahaa!!! In this section there is also the Sushi bar. Anyhow, I could care less about the hibachi dining. I was here for the sushi. So straight to the bar I was walked. The decor here matches that of what you'd expect at a high class Japanese "styled" place. You can clearly see that someone had a great eye and balance with the decor. It is what you'd expect at any really nice joint. I read some reviews here speaking of "tacky". I laugh; tacky is the decor at some of these American Dinners where placing old rusty street sign are a way to spice up the place. This place was beautiful. Everything was in balance. So let's get on with the sushi. I ate here two nights in a row, should tell you how the sushi is. Again, I fully admit to being a snob, jaded, and completely an ass when it comes to sushi! This place was spot on. Have I had better? Of course! However, this place throws down well. I could see it making a great stand in the San Francisco. The fish was fresh. I was told it came from San Francisco. *Jaded Mode On * Duh, that's why it was good. Kidding aside, the Saba, Hamachi, Uni, Sake, and others were point on! The preparation and display was beautiful. I even tested the sushi chief on his abilities and told him to throw me what ever he wanted. He passed with making up some interesting rolls. I tried their signature sashimi, it was good. I mean I don't have anything bad to say about my two meals here. Overall this place is great. Fresh fish, nice and professional staff, and well worth it in all ways. Don't take my word, try it yourself. And trust me, when I say jaded I mean it...

My family and I enjoyed our meals at Wasabi! I would have given this restaurant five stars except our shrimp was overdone. I had to pull off the overcooked part of it. It seems strange to have to pay $2.00 more for fried rice, so I didn't. Other Japanese restaurants in the area do not charge extra. All-in-all, the food was tasty, we had a good time and will, most likely, be back.

When hubby and I were invited here on a double date with friends, I assumed it would be like the Benihana chain I remember from the west coast. It was very similar, but better. The ambiance was lively and subdued at the same time, is that possible? The decor was quite lovely, contemporary, with a koi pond peeking out from underneath the glass pathway just inside the entrance. We were soon seated around the hibachi grill with a few other couples and a family. Our chef was unassuming at first, but once he got going, there was no stopping him. He was, at times, ridiculous in how he talked and joked and bated the guests. . and hol-y sake! He was far too generous with the squeeze bottle. The hamachi jalapeno and beef tataki starters set the pace for a tasty meal. Both dishes were perfectly prepared. Between the four of us, we enjoyed chicken, shrimp, steak, scallops, vegetables and salmon with fried and steamed rice. The flavors were divine! Wasabi is an experience, to be sure. . one that you want.

This is my second time here, and it will be the last. The first time everything was great and everything went so smoothly that I was okay with the long wait time even though me and my fiancée had a prior reservation. It went well enough that I had a high expectation for this restaurant. The food. The service. The whole shabang. This time, however, was the complete opposite. The waiter was very nice, but the chef, is completely different. When he was handing of the sauces, I asked for the same sauces instead of two different sauces, and he ignored it and the made a fuss about it to the whole table when I asked for the right sauce, and then comes the cooking. He repeatedly threw food at the guests at the table, and when it comes to the "chicken toss" trick, I refused to participate, and the chef would rudely call me a little girl and a woman which is greatly offended me as my pride of being a guy that served the United States military. Then comes the food proportion, my steak and chicken hibachi turned out to be 5 pieces of steak and 30 pieces of chicken. I complained to the manager about the treatment and his excuse? The chef is Asian and that is how Asians joke around. Sad thing is that I am a Taiwanese American and that my mother is from a typical Taiwanese family where respect means everything, and that is not how we joke around in our family. It's a shame that he even tried to pull the race card on me. If I wanted to go to a restaurant to be treated poorly, I can just go to a restaurant that costs about 5-8 USD per serving instead of 20+ USD per serving. I'm just going to save the gas and go to Hibachi Japan instead for cheaper and better service and more consistency in quality.

When I was back home in Ohio this past weekend I had a serious Asian craving. Unforunately, Akron doesn't have quite the amount of dine-in Asian restaurants like Chicago does, so it made it a little tough. My group of 5 was on board for a 6PM dinner (which, in my opinion, is WAY too early; dinner is meant for 8PM and after!) and offered two suggestions... First suggestion being PF Changs. We stopped in and, at 6PM, they had a 2 1/2 hour wait. (!!!!!) Seriously? Suburban people and their early dinner time ;) Next stop - Wasabi. The parking lot was freakishly full but when we walked in we figured out why. Turns out this place is a Japanese restaurant, half-Hibachi, half-regular restaurant. Since we weren't doing hibachi, we were seated right away in the regular part of the restaurant. We opted out of a "private room", which they offer at no additional charge, because we didn't want to talk our shoes off and sit on the floor. When we sat down a few of my friends looked at the menu as if it were in another language, which it was, but with what seemed no understanding of the items. True, some of the rolls had no explanation as to what all was in them, but our waiter (Drew? I think) get extra stars for being patient and essentially going over the entire menu for us. He fielded every question, which we had a lot, and instilled confidence that we were ordering exactly what we wanted. Side story - my friend ordered the California Roll thinking it was an eggroll. Haha. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki since I wasn't having a sushi craving, but offered to eat a bite of my friends sweet potato roll. The Chicken Teriyaki was great - it was served on a sizzling fajita plate in the shape of a pig. The only bad thing about it was that the teriyaki sauce sizzled all over my white polo. FAIL. My friend's sweet potato roll was excellent and served with rice on the outside of the seaweed, making it so much easier to eat. We gobbled everything up and split our checks with no problem. For as nice as the restaurant was, it was pretty reasonable. Not sure if it'll be a new at-home favorite, but I'd definitely stop back to try the Hibachi.

I have been here a few time. I was not dissipointed. It is a bit expensive, but completely entertaining. Food is good, kids got a good laugh and the mother-in-law had a great time. The Family and I will be returning.

Sushi is too expensive and isn't as good as others around the area. Habachi is hit or miss depending on your chef.

Well, I know I usually write long reviews. However, all I have to say is try hibachi Japan in cuyahoga falls. It's definitely ten notches above this chain. I've been here quite a few times with other people when they pay. However, I will not waste my money on this place. The food doesn't have any flavor and the sushi selection is mediocre. If all you want is sushi go up the street to the Montrose Centre shopping center and eat at Sakura. It's the best sushi around. If you still want the hibach drive further and try the place I mentioned above you won't be disappointed.

Dined here with a group on New Year's Eve. Overall, food was good, but service was sooooooo bad, I'll definitely never go back. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. I understand that restaurants are very busy on holidays like NYE, and I'm very forgiving of wait staff for their mishaps here and there. No one's perfect. However, our waitress (Ivy) was flat-out incompetent, screwed up repeatedly throughout the evening, and was completely unapologetic about it. Ivy repeatedly neglected to take the drink order of one of the men in our group. On her 4th trip to the table, she finally took his drink order (a coke and a Tsunami). She brought the coke, but she didn't bring the Tsunami until he asked her a second time. Another man in our group asked for a Bud Lite and received a Miller Lite. Ivy then dropped an entire tray of our drinks, further prolonging the amount of time we waited to receive our drinks. When we got our food, only half of us had napkins and chopsticks. We also did not have soy sauce bowls for the sushi. When Ivy came to our table, I asked her for napkins, chopsticks, and soy sauce holders. SHE STARTED WALKING AWAY BEFORE I WAS EVEN DONE TALKING!! I'll be damned if I'm going to dine at a restaurant for $30+/person, and the waitress cannot even stop long enough to listen to me asking for items that we NEED to eat our meal. When she brought the soy sauce holders, they were covered in some red and blue gooey substance and were not clean. One person in our party received the wrong entrée. When he brought this to her attention, instead of taking the plate away, she stood next to him for 10 minutes checking her order pad, apparently convinced that he had indeed ordered the shrimp and steak when he clearly had not. She finally took the entrée away and eventually brought the correct one. We had 6 people in our group and asked for our checks to be brought in pairs, which Ivy said was fine. I was charged for a side of fried rice, which was incorrect because the 2 people on my check only ordered sushi, no hibachi entrees. We put our credit cards with their respective checks in the folders, and gave them to Ivy. She came back 5 minutes later to tell us that she charged an $80 check to a card that was in the folder with a $35 check. At this point, we were so frustrated by how bad the service was, we asked for a manager. The manager didn't come over for 20 minutes. When he did, he was also very unapologetic and was not at all helpful. The table next to us had also been waiting to speak with him. They were apparently as disgusted by the service as we were. As far as the food, I can only speak for the sushi, which is what I ordered. The sushi was good. It was fresh, well-prepared, and presented beautifully. Not the best sushi that I've ever had, but certainly not the worst, although it was slightly overpriced for the size and quality of the sushi. Overall though, the service was so awful, from both the waitress and the manager, I would never dine here again because it was a very unpleasant experience.

Great Food, Pretty Good Service. I've never had the hibachi here, i always sit on the other side and get sushi plus other menu items. Sushi is Great, sometimes heavy on the mayo sauce on a few special rolls. I get the same waitress every time or she is the only one that works at lunch. haha She never writes down the order so sometimes i don't get items. They are only open for lunch on thurday and friday. I don't know why. I'd give it a 5 if it wasn't for the missing of items i order and too much sauce/mayo on some rolls when asked to be light on the sauce or without sauce. Otherwise Great Place!!!!

Finding decent sushi near Kent has proven to be damn near impossible. I miss my standbys in Cleveland. There's on sushi restaurant in Kent proper that is HORRIBLE and a few in Akron that are just okay. Wasabi was a step above the others, but I was torn between a three-star and four-star review because it still fell a bit short on a very simple matter. Sushi is not meant to be served ice cold! I hate, hate, hate when restaurants do this. For me, it completely ruins the experience. The delicate flavors of the fish don't shine when it's too cold. So while I could tell that the fish at Wasabi was good, the temperature it was served at nearly ruined the entire experience for me. Maybe I'm too picky. The miso soup was out of this world, which is weird to say. Miso soup is usually pretty straight-forward but they add something (I think green onions) here that makes it shine. The salad was pretty much on-par with every other sushi bar salad I've encountered. The boyfriend and I ordered their sushi/sashimi sampler for two and were greeted with a great variety of fish. He had no complains as he is far less picky than I am. Neither of us particularly cared for the rolls (tuna roll and california roll) that came along with the sampler, but neither of us are generally fans of rolls to begin with. This restaurant completely separates the hibachi section from the traditional sushi section, which was a nice touch. We could occasionally hear echos of the hibachi show, so we were glad to be far removed from it. Our side of the restaurant was traditionally designed and decorated and proved to be a soothing environment. The service was great, too. Best sushi option I've found so far in Akron, so it's worth a try!

Wasabi is a sushi bar/hibachi located on the hill in Montrose. I ate on the regular dining side, not the hibachi. I went there for a first date, and my first thought was, "well done, you". My date got extra points, its a pretty nice place. The ambiance was nice, the prices were a little high, but hey, Im worth it. He got the chicken tempura, I ordered two sushi rolls. All were delicious and we both ended up taking food home. The beer selection was not my fave, but its a Japanese steakhouse so Asian beers are at the forefront. They have a full bar, so I just went with my standard Grey Goose and cran. All in all, it was a nice visit- next time Im thinking of trying the hibachi. They also have a tatami room- you know, where you take off your shoes before sitting at a table on the floor. Definately not what I wanted for a first date, luckily I dodged that bullet.

Been to Wasabi several times and have never been disappointed with the food. I always go for the hibachi and usually pair it with some sushi. Consistently delicious. Service is usually excellent as well. The only reason Wasabi doesn't get five stars from me is because it can get a bit pricey, but if I had the money, I would eat here every night!

With a group of business colleagues, we headed to the Hibachi-style (in one half of the restaurant) Wasabi Japanese Steak House. You never really know what you're going to get with these - sometimes the food is terrific, and sometimes, you realize you just paid 10 extra dollars to watch someone balance an egg on a spatula. We decided to skip the fire and egg-balancing show in favor of a quieter table, which proved to be a wise decision (based on the 20 minute wait otherwise). We were seated immediately, and the food was quite good. Not 5-star good, but definitely a solid 4 for this out-of-the-way place in Akron. I almost gave it 5-stars for the 'entertainment' at the adjacent table, which was an older couple in their late 50's/older 60's practically reaching 2nd or 3rd base right before our eyes. He had what looked to be a fake head of curly grey hair, along with the dictator-style mustache, and she was eating it up. Literally. I witnessed her sucking on his finger, which was just a bit more than I expected to see - and yet, the entertainment value was almost worth it. Oh, but this is a food review. Well, the food was quite good. Two got noodles, one had hibachi-cooked steak, and I had tempura and sushi, which was fresh and tasty. Definitely a worthwhile destination in Akron. And hopefully that couple actually made it to a room somewhere. :)

Wasabi is a combination of two restaurants- a fine dining side and a hibachi side. We did the hibachi on a very busy night and had a great time. The chefs were very conscientious in their preparation of everyones food- I wanted my steak medium rare and I got a medium rare steak- who woulda thunk this was possible at a hibachi joint? Definitely an upgrade on the majority of hibachi restaurants out there- if you are looking for a fun time with a onion volcano and some sake poured into your mouth out of a squirt bottle- this is your place :)

OK come on now, you know what you are getting here. There is going to be a moment where the entire grill is engulfed in flames and the patrons around the table "ooh" and "aahh" Something is going to get hurled at you from a stainless steel spatula while everyone watches you attempt to catch it in your mouth (broccoli and yes I caught it). There's going to be a volcano made of onion. Lastly, there is a lot of commentary, singing, slapping of utensils and shenanigans. Generally there is also some decent food - I usually opt for the scallops and steak. Veggies, rice, noodles and meat are cooked well. My 4 star rating is based on a few factors: First of all the ambiance inside Wasabi is very pretty with lots of low light and walls that glow blue. The waitress was very attentive and there was nothing to complain about regarding the food. The biggest factor in my 4 star rating was watching the "show" though the eyes of my 7 year old niece. She chose Wasabi for her bday dinner (seriously when I was 7 I thought Olive Garden was where rich people ate, what is wrong with this generation?) She loved the attention she got from the cook because it was her birthday. She reminded me that there is a time and place for everything and Wasabi delivers on the hibachi show boatin' promise with good service, tasty food and a comfortable ambiance.

I've lunched here about five times, and each has been excellent. We always ask for the full menu at lunch so we can order some sushi, which isn't detailed on their lunch menu, which I think is a bit strange. You have to order the Wasabi Dumplings- they are just that good. They kinda blow off the front of your face with the amount of wasabi in them, but for some reason they are slightly addictive. We have had all the rolls that they make- the only one I really don't like is the Snow Roll or something like that- it is all white and really not tasty. The Red Dragon roll is my favorite with the Crunchy roll taking a close second. A friend of mine ordered the lamb appetizer and the tempura shrimp appetizer the last time we went. The lamb was surprisingly good and the tempura was exactly what you would expect out of a higher end restaurant. Light and delicious. The interior is really cool. This place used to be an Olive Garden and now it is almost uber-hip with water sculptures and twinkling lights in the ceiling. Although I have not had dinner here, a couple of my friends did and said it was the most annoying dinner they have had. Apparently there is a gong that is whacked way too much and people running around with sparklers, which stink up the joint. This is second hand info, so take it for what it is. Check this place out if you are in the mood for a fresh, delicious lunch.

Excellent food and service. We went there with a group of 7 after running the Akron marathon. The teriakys dishes were great size for hungry people. Prices were good for the amount of food. Our waitress was very polite. If i am ever back in Akron i will def go back there

As good as it gets for a Japanese steakhouse, and reasonably priced. This restaurant is easily one of the best Japanese restaurant in the Midwest. On the sushi side of the restaurant, the rolls are tasty and fresh. And most importantly, the sushi rice is perfectly moist. Even the miso soup is better than a lot of the restaurants that I have been to. The pieces of onions they put in the soup makes it an instant and flavorful upgrade than many restaurants. The hibachi chefs are extremely entertaining while preparing your delicious food. The meats, seafood, veggies, and the RICE are mouthwatering and almost makes you wish the hibachi chef will cook faster. Maybe I was just a little bit too hungry that day. But the show is just great too. The little pyromaniac inside of me loves the onion Volcano!

My most favorite place ever!! My boyfriend knows that this is always the go to spot when it comes.to me, amazing sushi, all the employees are great! Sometimes the hostess there can have a bit of a snooty attitude, that part never fails, but everyone else including your "grill man" are excellent, delicious food!! Worth the.price.

I can say I will never come to enjoy hibachi style cooking. The flavors run together and while overall the taste is ok, the purpose of picking your meats is rendered useless. The same happens at Wasabi, where the food is priceyer than most and the decor is slightly better than some. I found the hibachi chef more obnoxious than anything else, as his routine included excessive flirting and conversation. I tried both grill and sushi, finding the grill to be average in taste and the sushi subpar. I was really counting on the sushi to save the meal, but the chirashi box was bland and the waitress couldn't tell me what fish was included. In the end, all I could really be thankful for was that nothing was inedible or poorly cooked, with the exception of the mochi icecream, which was abysmal at best. I won't be back unless another birthday luncheon drags me there.

This is one of the best Japanese Steak Houses in Ohio. I have been to many and this is top two or three. The service is great, the cooks are fun and energetic and the food is always cooked to perfection. The restaurant has a nice ambiance to it and always clean.

If you are in Akron for business and are by yourself and don't know what you want to eat but are thinking Japanese may be on the cards, then seriously don't look any further than Wasabi. I came here the day I arrived in Akron for my birthday and figured I'd have a tasty treat for myself. The entrance of the restaurant is really soothing. Water flows beneath you and to the sides and its just really appealing to the senses. To the left are the Hibachi grills where you can watch the cooks dazzle you with all their superfluous cooking skills. To the right is the traditional sit down restaurant that I opted for. I ordered a spider roll to start my meal off with, and at 11 dollars a pop, I was seriously considering ordering another one after enjoying every bite of the first. I ordered the steak and shrimp from the entrees section of the menu and was glad to see it came with miso soup and a salad. Both the soup and salad were great and prepped me for a delicious main course. The steak and shrimp set me back 18 bucks, but paying 37 with tip for dinner on my birthday wasn't bad at all. I decided to come back two nights later and ordered the Sushi Combo for 22 bucks and loved it. The White Tuna (which apparently isn't even tuna according to some people I overheard talking at the sushi bar) was fantastic. The plate consisted of about 6 types of fish with three slices each. it also came with miso and salad. The staff were friendly, the owner asked me what book I was reading and looked like he cared, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was superb. Like Arnold always said, "I'll be back".

Great ambiance on the dining room side of the restaurant. The other side is hibachi. Service was excellent. Our entire meal was sushi and it was some of the best we've ever had, including other major metro areas much closer to the ocean! Tops in the area for sushi by a country mile. Would recommend reservations, at least for Fri/Sat nights - it was packed.

It was PACKED around 5pm on a Sunday night. If you want the Habachi I highly suggest getting reservations. The dining room was was not busy but filled up fast. Definetly will go back when in the Akron area.

My family, especially the kids love this place. Great Tepayki food with no greasy odor when you walk in like some places. Good alcohol too!

The place is really nice and quite big. I was surprised to see such a nice place in Akron area since other few places I went were not up to the mark. This is a place where you can take your date. The food wise, I liked the sushi I had. I went with Salmon and Tuna since I like to play safe when going to a new place. My sushi and Maki rolls were fresh and tested great. Philadelphia roll had little more creme cheese than I like but it was good. They have lots of variety and plenty of items to choose from. The prices are on high side but Sushi places are always little pricey. I will go again when I feel like eating Sushi.

I'd rate this somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4. It's clearly not an authentic Japanese restaurant, as I didn't see a single Japanese person on the staff and the menu is Americanized. The decor is intriguing and aesthetically pleasing, though, and it does the job. I ordered tuna, mackerel, and scallop, the agedashi tofu (fried tofu), and the softshell crab. The sushi was very good, with the scallop being the highlight-- it was melt-in-the-mouth fresh and delicious. The agedashi tofu, though not authentically prepared, was tasty. The "breading" is supposed to be like tempura breading- so light that it can get soft with one dip in the sauce- but it was more like tofu hush puppies with crunchy breading. The softshell crab was ok... the sauce (tonkatsu sauce) was mismatched in my opinion. The crab tasted better being dipped in the agedashi tofu broth, which is similar to tempura dipping broth. Overall, decent place. I went twice in a 48-hour span and it was satisfying.

Great hibachi place. Probably best in the Akron area. Otani is not as good and Hibachi Japan comes a close second. Their sushi is pretty awesome too. $35 for their best meal, the Wasabi special comes with filet mignon, lobster tail, scallops, then you also get shrimp, rice, salad and soup. Service and show is pretty good too.

Very dissappointing when getting in the front door is a challange. We called to make reservations for a party of eight and was told that they don't take reservations but that it was not a problem they had plenty of room and no waiting. When we showed up we were told to go away until everyone in our party was present and then they would seat us. When we returned a few minutes later, they acted as if they had never seen us, handed us a buzzer and told us it would be at least 30 minutes before they would seat us. After having that experience at the front door this party of eight moved on to a very enjoyable evening at Anthony's down the street.

3rd visit to Wasabi. Sunday night 6:30we only waited 15 minutes. Had a great chef, he was not much of a showman but he was by far the best cook we have had everything was cooked perfect.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! The Chef's are really fun & entertaining if you have never been to a Habichi style restaurant. The food is awesome. Love the decor. They have really nice private party rooms if you want to order from regular menu. If you live in Akron or Medina and think driving to Benihana too far then give this place a shot!

No sure what is happening with this location but the cooks haven't been as animated lately and the food has been overcooked. The triple combo is one of the better choices on the menu. Sushi is great - Tangerine Dream and the Cucumber Rolls are my favorite. I had some type of dragon sushi and it was good - just can't remember the name of it.

Chef SPAT yes SPAT on the ground! Then he sneezed, that would be acceptable if he did spit just moments before. I have never seen such behavior in a restaurant before. Stay away!

Fun atmosphere and okay service, except for the fact that our waiter didn't know the difference between red and white wine. And while the food might be good, it is coated in so much salt, butter, and garlic; we wanted to throw up. We even asked for the cook/chef to go light on the garlic, yet when I left I think I scared away every vampire within a 100 radius. And our food was SO salty; I literally woke up the next morning and felt hung over. I was so dehydrated from the salt! Let's also not forget you have to burn your clothes when you leave, because they smell SO bad. Ugh. I had to get my coat dry cleaned. Finally the pricing.....ridiculous. Our bill was $80 for two meals and two drinks. Never again. But I'm sure they'll stay in business, there's a lot of people out there will kids and money to burn.

Went here a few weeks ago for a friend's birthday. Good experience, food, and drinks, but still not my favorite hibachi place. (Hibachi Japan in C.Falls!) our cook was super talkative and funny. Dare I say too much food? You get noodles AND rice, and it seemed like everyone had a bowl full of rice left after they finished their meals. Sauces were OK, but again, I prefer the sauces at my go-to place.

We have experienced the hibachi menu mostly as both eat in and carry out from this location. Eat in is great, but most nights, we want to bypass the loud theatrics and eat dinner and be able to talk to each other while doing so. Most of the chefs here are loud and cannot take subtle hints that I do not care to have egg tossed at my face or saki squirted into my mouth. On the upside, if you want dinner and bit of a show, this is you place! Taking away here is a slippery slope. First, the food tastes nowhere near as good. Second, they are never on-time. Never. They tell me 45 minutes and I arrive on time to wait at least another 10 - and "she's in the back packing it right now" every time I arrive. If you like hibachi, Wasabi is your place - just know what all of that means!

DIRTY. Do you wonder why the lights are so dim?? Good service, friendly and attentive. The chef was inappropriate and kept making sexual jokes with children at the table. Won't be back.
