So it is Starbucks, so you think you know what you are getting... however, that is not always the case here. It's in the Student Union, so it is a decent location to get a coffee and the atrium provides a nice bright area to sit while enjoying said cup of coffee. However, the employees are students and at times appear to be having more fun than working, not bad except there is typically a line of 10-20 waiting... additionally, they sometimes don't follow directions well. For a chai latte, I've had a cup of foam once and a super sweet concoction another. Consistency is not their strong suit, but it can be an adventure when you first sip your drink. Additionally, this is not a corporate store, so it does not honor Starbucks awards (including free refills).

This Starbucks is in the middle of campus, which has its pros and cons. I usually stop by here in the mornings before teaching, and it is quiet between 7am-8am. If you get there around 8:30am or 9:00am, however, forget it! Crazy lines, and orders get immensely backed up. Typically Starbucks fare. However, since it is a campus location, when they run out of products towards the end of the year/holiday, that's it. Keep that in mind if you're looking for your favorite muffin! Also - they don't take all rewards/coupons there. I'm a gold card member, and my rewards on my card don't work there. Something to think about before visiting if that was your intent!

Whenever I feel stressed or tired, I will go the this coffee shop. The hot coffee or frappuccino always makes me feel released and relaxed. The staff there are also very friendly. Sitting in the casual coffee shop with sunshine, I would be calm and energized. I love this corner of campus! I would like to sitting there do anything I like, reading or thinking, even doing academic tasks.

Yes, it's Starbucks. But after a good experience here yesterday, I'm going to go ahead and review it. Let me be clear - I didn't even order a drink here, so this review is just about the atmosphere. I was here to interview a high school senior who applied to my alma mater, and since he worked after school at UAkron, we decided to meet here. Parking - if you're not a student, not great. I managed to snag a metered spot (1 hour max) outside the union, but there weren't many of those. The Starbucks was also a little hard to find - it's all the way at the end of the union. Wifi - even nonstudents can access the UAkron guest network. However, I found it to be really slow, and it kept kicking me off so I had to reload a lot of pages. Not ideal, but since most people here are students...not a huge issue. However - the space is laid out great. There's ample chairs, ranging from standard hard plastic cafe chairs to armchairs to leather chairs. As a bonus, some chairs have cupholders and a little swing-out writing/laptop surface: perfect for studying, reading, taking notes, using your computer, etc. There's a really good amount of tables too: this place was clearly designed with a large student population in mind. The staff was being helpful to other groups, helping some UAkron organization set up at their tables. Anyway, well done Starbucks/designers of the union!

Awesome staff. They know what they are doing. They are really nice and efficient. They stayed open a little later than they needed to and didnt complain at all. They were able to answer questions about deals. Only downside is they dont take the gold card but thats because of the university.
