There's no getting past the odd location (Niko's somehow ended up behind a Walgreens and an Auto Zone). But hey, it's Akron - if you eliminate restaurants in odd strip malls and outdated 60's and 70's buildings, you won't be eating out very much. Once inside, you'll find a cozy, quiet space with warm colors, friendly ownership, and packs of little old ladies eating soup. The sandwiches teeter on being pricey, but once you try a couple, you'll find them worth the price: the meat is delectable, super, thin, and piled high, as it should be in a place that does it deli-style. I was a skeptic at first, but I'm now convinced: these are good sandwiches, and you can thank the meat for that (for what it's worth, they tend to under-toast their bread, so ask in advance for some extra toasting if you want the sandwich to hold together the entire meal). The matzo ball soup makes a nice complement to a sandwich; the chicken stock is home made and piping hot, while the matzo is soft and scrumptious. Location alone eliminates Niko's from Diamond Deli territory, but otherwise a solid - if not a bit quirky - sandwich stopover.

I enjoyed this place at soon as I pulled up till I pulled away. We were greeted right away with smiles and the service was great. They have great vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options. Their gf wraps are amazing!! the tomato basil soup is made with almond milk and it was really tasty. I'm not a fan of tomato soup, but theirs was very good. And their vegan potato salad was soooo yummy!!! And they have gf brownies and a gf/v strawberry jam bar. We tried the strawberry jam bar and wowwwwww!! It went great with with their coffee. And the have an espresso machine which is also a great thing! I'll be back for sure!!

This place is a hidden gem, great sandwiches and salads! Dyno took care of us and Niko stopped by our table to let us know he had just made the cheesecake, it was fabulous.

Has good vegan options (but you have to ask!) Niko advertises 'Vegan" specials in his ad but often then aren't posted when going into the restaurant. He does carry vegan cheese, vegan mayo and often vegan Tofurkey lunchmeat. So some of the meat sandwiches can be made vegan with a few substitutes. Usually he will have a vegan soup of the day as noted by the 'V' on the blackboard, but he hasn't yet been marking many items with 'vegan option' as he should! But he and staff are accomodating if you ask. Niko is very friendly and tries to have something for everyone. Nice cozy place for a sandwich.

Since Niko took over, this has become the best sandwich place in the Akron area. The soups, salads and sandwhiches are all phenomenal.

Awesome find in the corner. Hidden gem in Akron. Best salad in town with a very cozy atmosphere. Very nice people. I will be back when in Akron.

I've tried at least 6 different sandwiches here, and they've all been beyond delicious. The ambiance isn't great, and I wish there were better sides, but the staff is always super nice. Typically, I order carry-out, then step next door to Nickelby's for a cold beer and conversation with strange characters.

Let me just say this: the service/food was not even worth me driving over the massive and numerous speed bumps in their parking lot. This was my first time eating here, and I ordered a turkey wrap for takeout. I was told it would take 15-20 minutes. I would love someone to explain to me what part of a turkey wrap takes 15-20 minutes. So I went to my car to make a few phone calls, and I came back in 20 minutes (I timed it). They hadn't even started making it, and there were probably just as many people working in the restaurant as there were customers. I was the only one waiting for a takeout order. I didn't get an apology, just told it would be "just a minute". I sat down, and more than 10 minutes later, I was told my food was ready. It a had been 30 minutes at this point, and I finally got my food. Still not even an apology. I took the food back home. A turkey wrap with some spinach, cheese and a little dressing. It also came with a very small handful of chips and a pickle. Add in a can of pop, and the total came to $10. It was pretty bland. Not bad, but for an $8 wrap, I would expect a lot better. Bottom line, there are too many good food choices around Fairlawn to waste time and money on this place.

Nice place, very clean with a super friendly staff. I had a cornered beef w/ swiss on rye. The portion size was decent, about right for a lunch sandwich. The corned beef was alright, not bad but not spectacular. Sandwiches include chips and a pickle . The coke came in a cold bottle which was a really nice surprise. I thought the whole deal was a little pricey. $10.31 for a sandwich, chips, pickle and a coke. Plus two bucks tip, I'm out $13+ for lunch.

Well, it isn't what is once was....food is overpriced, seating uncomfortable. And though there have been numerous requests, the owner refuses to offer smaller (or half size) portions. On the plus side, you can still get Lou and Hy's original cheesecake there....

I really enjoyed stopping her for lunch. The staff was really upbeat and made me feel welcomed, and the decor was comforting. The best part though, was the actual sandwich. I created my own, corned beef on a kaiser with cheese and veggies, and I was so thoroughly satiated I almost went back for another one. There is yet to be a place in Akron that can provide a deli sandwich like the one here. Do your stomach a favor and make a trip to the Sandwich Board.
