Last night (Friday) was the night before Valentine's Day and the place was just jammed. the servers were harried and the kitchen was having a lot of trouble keeping up. The food was ok considering the turmoil but I don't recommend going there next year the night before Valentine's Day.

Love this little bar & grill - my fellow, his aunt & I stopped by this Akron long-standing pub. I thought the food was very good - I had a burger and it was very tasty. The service was prompt and down to earth. No fancy shmancy, I'm you're new best friend deal. An efficient server took our order, brought our food & refreshed our waters and beverages as needed. This is a down-home pub and the food is quite good. She didn't seem unhappy or unfriendly, just took care of business. I did consider a triumph when my silly husband got a wry comment and grin from her! I loved going there because it was one of my husband's teenage haunts (let's just say that was decades ago!) The bar area is just right for lunch - and the main dining room is a delightful step in the past with its colorful padded booths. It was one of the best meals I had in Akron - but it was all about the memories and history for us.

Food was great! Service not so much. You could tell that the server working did not want to be there AT ALL. A customer walked in and the server made a disgruntled noise and the customer turned and gave me a look like "did she just do that?"

I enjoyed the food. It was good. The service on the other hand, not so much. The waitress wouldn't take out order, the when she did we waited and waited. My salad didn't even come. Bottom line took an hour and a half for 2 people to get/have dinner, the server even said at one time she was flustered. It wasn't even busy, what would she have done if it was.

Had given a five star review previously but now revising to a 2. The service has gone drastically down hill. Servers are not happy or friendly the last couple months. The food is still pretty good for the area so I keep going back.

Top notch family owned joint. This is really high-end neighborhood food. An unexpected little gem, where the staff sincerely care about your experience... Wonderful bread ...great selection for the carnivores in your life...no signature dish because they are all signature dishes. Great place for a cocktail or two and a sandwich, or wine and a nice steak. Don't forget that during lent ..all you can eat fish fry... Great spot!

I love the specials the Ido puts out every couple months, whether it be "Half Way to St. Patrick's Day" with Irish entrees or creole food for Mardi Gras. The food is really good and is priced accordingly.

Go get an Ido burger. Seriously. I've tried some other things on their menu and love the soup and salads, but I just keep coming back to the burger.

Don't be fooled by the exterior, this place has awesome burgers! Not hard on the wallet either.

Eat on every Wednesday afternoon here for the great Burger deals. And the stuffed pepper soup is better than moms. Sorry it's that good!! Enjoy, I always do! It is seat yourself so get there a bit early or after dinner rush. You won't be disappointed.

I have been a fan of the Ido Bar & Grill in Firestone Park Ohio for many, many years, even before my friends, Steve and Marcy Baker bought it in 1998. They both had many years of experience at another fabulous restaurant in Firestone Park named Guy's. When Guy's changed their format from a restaurant to party center and catering, Steve, the chef, and Marcy, the hostess manager, took a big step and bought the Ido Bar & Grill. It had changed hands several times from it's glory days into bad versions of a neighborhood bar. Gone were the menu items that had made the Ido Bar & Grill famous, not only in Firestone Park but all over the Akron Ohio area. Steve and Marcy did not waste any time as the food was awesome from opening night. Back was the Famous "oozing" Ido Burger, giant chef's salad, chicken diablo (my wifes favorite) and the Hungarian sausage. Steve did not stop there, however. He was known for his steaks at Guy's and he did not disappoint at the Ido Bar & Grill. Steak to die for; huge Louisiana Rib Eye, Swiss steak and large filets that melt in your mouth. And do you want to know a secret? Don't pass on the 2 huge pork chops basted in your favorite seasoning, oh my!

This neighborhood dive on S. Main is an unexpected pleasure. It looks pretty dicey from the outside. There are no windows so you don't know what you're in for until you enter. Once inside it's a friendly local watering hole. There is always a couple of guys downing beers at the bar at noon on a weekday. The waitresses seem to know everybody. I think a lot of the customers have been drinking here since they were 15. They have more home style bar fare. Open face turkey or roast beef with gravy, meatloaf...tons of burgers, sandwiches and wraps. The fish fry on Fridays is one of my favorites in the area. They have daily specials that they post on there web site. All in all, pretty good stuff here.

Best thing about Ido: the service Second best thing: the menu and food itself. This place is quite a bit more adventurous than most Akron eateries. The ingredients are first class. Least favorite thing about Ido: the Mrs. She walks around scowling and speaks very disrespectful to the staff. We've been coming for years now an she has NEVER greeted us! We eat here about once a week. It sincerely is nearly enough to make us stop going but the food is superior to the competition and we adore the top rate friendly staff.

Stopped in today for take out--ordered from the "Mardi Gras" menu. Overpriced & not that good. Jambalaya had so much tomato sauce in it, it was like eating thick spaghetti sauce. Red beans & rice was kind of bland. Also didn't get the cole slaw that was supposed to come with the dinners. Keep it; I won't be back.

Food is good, but the service is terrible. Especially the hostess stand. These poor girls act like they not only hate their jobs; but like they also hate their lives. Good lord, would it break bone to smile?!

Took my family there and we all had burgers. The burgers were delicious, and good amount for the money too. My youngster also got ice cream with his kids burger and I ordered the apple dimpling. I highly recommend the apple dumplings they were out of this world. This place is awesome.

I love fried pickles. If a menu has them listed, I will try them. I've traveled a lot, and have eaten a lot...but the Ido has my favorite fried pickles. The breading is perfectly crunchy, and the ranch peppercorn dressing that they serve with the pickles is to die for. Their burgers are great, but i've noticed that they're not consistently great. I love the Ido burger, which is with mushrooms and onions. I love mushrooms, and the Ido never skimps. The waitresses are also hit or miss. There's an older woman with blonde hair who I absolutely adore. She's worked there so long that I think they may have built the restaurant around her. On my last visit, I had a different waitress, and she couldn't be bothered to refill drinks, bring us condiments, or really do much else.

The best special of the week is 1/2 price burgers on Wednesdays. If you go at the wrong time you'll wait in line. The food is generally good and the service is highly variable from pathetic to fairly good, never excellent. The beer is varied but is priced *well* above the competition. I never go there except on "burger day." Not certain why others find this place so attractive other than there are few alternatives in this dumpy area. No wi-fi! My rating would be a "weak 3."

Tried the Tuesday night special - Twin Pork Chops. Chops were tasty and nice and thick. Service was good considering our waitress was overworked. Also enjoyed the potato pierogi appetizer with sausage.

Good food. I have had the Ido Burger several times, and like it every time. Service is OK. There is nothing in the physical nature of the place to draw me back. As a result, I do not think of this as a destination restaurant, but more of a "we're in the area, and this place has good food." restaurant.

Always fast friendly service (I'm usually there during the week after 8pm.) Their menu is decent, however if you are a picky vegetarian you may be in trouble. However, they will remove meat from the meals when they can (not possible with the chili or stuffed pepper soup!) I had the perogies (without the sausage) and they were great!

Working in Akron is truly a good thing with the Ido Bar and Grill right down the street. The Ido has excellent burgers and salads for lunch. They're daily specials, with homemade soups are always tasty and inexpensive. I have not had an opportunity to eat Dinner at the Ido, but would do so in a heartbeat if I didn't live in Cleveland. Well worth a try!

We tried out this place due to Yelp reviews. We went on a Wednesday which is half-price burger day - anything with burger in it is half-priced. This is good for your wallet, but also resulted in a very long wait time for lunch. We got lucky finding a table and then lunch turned out to be over an hour for burgers. The food itself was pretty good - I had the double-stacked mushroom/swiss burger (they call it something else) which was large and decent, but I've had better. Fries/chips are standard, you can sub with canned green beans for a little more. Overall, it was good to save money to go out to lunch, but the wait time wasn't worth saving a few bucks. The food was decent. Based on other reviews, I'd maybe give it another shot on a non-Wednesday if it isn't so busy, and try something other than a burger.

Great food in a what looks like an old neighborhood bar (dive). Soups are as good as the " Soup Nazi's" and excellent sandwiches for lunch. Dinners are very good with excellent steaks and seafood. Prices are moderate but well worth the price.

We went to celebrate a birthday and had a group of 10 at our table. As everyone else was getting their entree, our Waitress said our order would be right up. We waited 5, 10 then 15 minutes. Our Waitress was nowhere to be found. Other people in our group needed refills on their drinks and we still needed our food. I flagged down another Waitress to check on what was going on. She apologized and said she would check. After another 5 to 8 minutes, my husband got up, walked to the kitchen where our waitress was hiding and told her to cut our order. She tried to explain that it was her fault and she forgot to put in the order and that it was almost ready. My husband said," oh really, after 25 minutes you are just telling us this and my whole family is finished eating! No, you cut our order!" I am sorry, but even if you did forget the order, we ordered three medium rare steaks with baked potato. Medium rare steaks take 8 to 10 minutes to cook and baked potatoes are pre-made in big batches. There is no excuse for taking 25 minutes to even tell us what is going on! They did not offer a free dessert for our trouble, or to wrap it up to take home for our trouble. They took our sodas and salads off the bill and said sorry. The birthday girl was so distraught over us watching everyone else eat that she didn't get to enjoy HER dinner. Just a total bummer, and they did nothing to earn our business back. All 10 of us will never be back.
