Love this place. Bean coming here for over 40 years. Best gyros and souvlaki on the island. Gre as t service and the Bayville beach location is a huge plus. Give this place a try. Gyro with the red sauce 5 stars all the way. Salads are very good too.

The gyro is sliced thick and served on a thin pita, which tips the scale dramatically towards the meat's favor. Very tasty and a satisfying chew. The pita was so stuffed it started tearing, but a few strategically placed chomps fixed that right up. The tzatziki sauce was very good and so was the chicken souvlaki.

Really happy with the food here. It's a nice little beachside spot and is a good, cheap place to hang out, grab something to eat, and watch the sunset. Greek salads are par for the course, with olives, feta and onions. I wish there was a bit more lettuce, but overall it was very good. Grilled chicken was ok. A little hard on the outside. Gyro meat is way better, so go for that. There's no waitress service, so don't expect anything too fancy, but there's lots of tables to sit at and eat. Food always comes out quickly. They have an ice cream spot inside too if you're looking for a cone to eat while you walk along the beach.

Great Greek salad! Gyro is good too. Hummus is perfect. They also have ice cream in the summers!!! I always do takeout, not much of restaurant. There's no sit down ordering. A quick walk from the beach

I have been coming to this place for many years and have enjoyed it for just as many years. Over the years I have watched the prices go up and up but the quality and the position have remained the same. That all changed yesterday when I noticed that the portions and quality have lessened to the point that I will never return.

I've been here a lot. Many things are great. Gyro and souvlaki is excellent! However ordering large salads seems a little weak. I ordered a large Greek salad and it's 98% iceberg lettuce. I feel at $9 for a large salad there should be more substance of other veggies. Also I ordered buffalo chicken wings which were soggy small and not tasty. Would def not recommended that. Many things on the menu are fantastic however. My last visit isn't ideal but would order here again. Just staying away from "just salad" and never ordering wings

Good food and nice folks. Probably the best spot on that little strip in Bayville to stop by at while visiting the beach. The greek salad, fried shrimps and gyros were all great. One of the patrons was being very kind the whole time.

Ate here on a Sat afternoon while taking a cruise through Bayville. Surprisingly good food! Really courteous staff. Niceish view of the beach sort of.

This place has been around a long time, and for good reason. Stopped here with the family and decided to eat in rather than take home. Place is clean and staff was pleasant. We ordered the lamb gyro plate that came with fries. Very tasty meat and fries were not greasy. Yogurt sauce was very good. The only downside was the vegetables that came with the gyro were cooked. First time I have ever gotten a gyro where the vegetables were cooked. Always have been raw and that is the only way for me. Also you cannot get slices of feta, only cups of crumbled. The spinach pie is outstanding, a must have. We will defiantly be back. Worth the trip.

Place is going downhill. Came for years and could always count on a good, fresh Greek salad and gyro. No more. On a recent visit the place smelled like a garbage dump (yes VERY unappetizing) and our gyro meat was so dry and reheated that it was gyro jerky. Fries and onion rings tasteless. We would have sent the food back but the owner/manager who was tending the counter was standing outside smoking a cigarette. Sorry Souvlaki Place. You've lost this customer.

Surprisingly the food here is very good , it's not fancy at all , very simple and excellent prices . I've been here several times and I've always been very happy with the food ,prices and service . The burgers are delicious and juicy , the souvlaki platter is also very good , the salads are delicious , the rice pudding is homemade and amazing and the coconut ice is to die for , idk what they do differently but it's the best coconut ice I've ever had in my life !! My only complaint ( why I gave four stars and not five ) is that the employees clean the tables with Windex while your eating and personally the smell of windex or any cleaning products is not exactly what I want to smell while I'm eating , Im happy they are clean but just don't do it while the customers are eating!!!

Like the last poster, I've been coming to this place since I was old enough to drive from Plainview to Bayville with a carload of friends just to get a gyro. I doubt the same cooks are there as were there in 1985, but the spirit is still alive as well as the spirit of the creation of one damn fine gyro. The service has changed, inasmuch as back in the day you milled around the counter waiting for your food; now they give you a numbered table marker and bring the food to you, so anyone complaining about the service is way off. If you've made it all the way to Bayville (right now the main road is closed due to Hurricane Sandy damage so there's a detour to get there), you'd be very remiss in not stopping in for a gyro (with red or white sauce, both are great!).

The service at this place is what really makes it stick out to me. When we ordered our food to go, the ladies behind the counter were extremely friendly. We ordered extra tzatziki sauce and they made sure that every dish we ordered had 2 cups so everyone would have enough. We ordered $50 worth of food so it was definitely appreciated and it was cool we had extra to put over the spinach pie. All of the sandwiches were huge and overstuffed. I enjoyed everything that we ate. They really gave us a lot of food and I felt like they appreciated us as customers.

Standard Greek-American fast food: gyro or falafel sandwiches on pita, good french fries, a pretty bland tzatziki sauce. It's the kind of place that the local teenagers work at after school or summers, so don't expect super service. Really, a quaint place with inexpensive quick food. Lovely location directly across from the beach for when you work up an appetite soaking up the sun and splashing in the sound.

This is a no frills sort of greek food place, there's I believe not waiter service and most of the food is served on paper/plastic plates. The food is decent but does not strike me or remind me of classic greek fare. It's in a great location and I feel depends on the location to carry it a little too much. The counter service is usually that of high schoolers but always nice and friendly none the less. Prices are average for this sort of fare and as well there's a Edy's Ice cream attached to the shop. A ok place to get a quick bit but not worth driving too far for.

I do not agree with either of the reviews prior to this. I have been going to this place for many many years. Yes it is by the beach and it is casual, but I guess these other reviewers have never gone to Greece where little places like this are all over and make the best food. We use to travel all the way from Bellmore to have a great Gyro and even after they open the one in Wantagh we would still travel the distance. We have since moved from New York, but when we go back the first place we stop is Souvlaki Place. This is coming from someone who is Greek, cooks Greek food and owns a Greek/American Cafe in Florida
