I came here for the first time on Cinco de Mayo and really enjoyed it. It was SUPER busy, but yet they did their best to accommodate you and get your drinks and food to you in a timely matter. I had their steak tacos and lobster quesadilla and they were really good! Drinks were nice and strong, yummy flavored margaritas. Friendly staff too. Would most certainly come back.

What a surprise! My boyfriend and I decided to stop here on the way back to the city from the Adirondacks and were pleasantly surprised. This place was pretty busy on a Thursday night yet no issues getting a a table. One of the servers gave us chips and salsa and water early on. I would like to say the service was great at this restaurant and the waitresses were very friendly. We tried the Fish tacos and shrimp burritos which were very tasty The fish tacos did not lack in portion at all and it was quite juicy. The Shrimp burrito was equally savory. The salad, beans and rice gave a nice touch to the entrees. Don't forget to ask for the jabanero house made salsas! It's very spicy but a nice addition to the entrees. Yay for finding hidden gem in old small town!

How much do I love this place? Words don't do it justice. No heavy, sloppy sauce Mexican here - at least not that I've ever had. Fresh, light and the guacamole is killer. Reservations strongly recommended.

Really had a great meal!!! The atmosphere is casual but elegant! I had the lobster quesadilla which was so yummy!!! All the staff were attentive and pleasant!! Also... They have amazing margaritas!

Every time you try a new restaurant there is a bit of excitement for something new, while at the same time a little apprehension over the possibility of being disappointed. I was delightfully surprised at the excellent friendly service, mellow ambiance and exceptional food at Santa Fe Uptown. I ordered the Grilled Steak Burrito with a side skewer of Grilled Cilantro and Garlic Marinated Shrimp. While waiting our friendly server Beckah was very attentive to our needs and kept our group in drinks, chips and salsa. The wait was not any longer than expected. I was very impressed with the presentation - my plate looked sumptuous, like something in a upscale cooking or travel magazine. My dinner was grilled to perfection, with a fine blend of spices and flavors that told me the chef was highly experienced in the ways of bringing out the best in food. My frozen Marguarita was one of the best I'd ever had. I knew before I was done with dinner that Sante Fe Uptown was going to be one of my favorite places to eat. If you want an exceptional Mexican dining experience, excellent food at a reasonable cost, and a great place to take family and friends you should visit Santa Fe Uptown. You will not be disappointed.

Food was very tasty. HOWEVER, they need to really reconsider the caliber of staff they hire. There were 6 girls who were trying really hard to be cute, running around doing a great deal of nothing. The host was a male and he was oblivious. He didn't connect with the customer and just had a really rude and ignorant disconnected attitude. I felt little sincerity in ANY of the million and one staff running around who only seemed to care to congregate in that little curtained area...running back and forth with chips but not even glancing at a table. Need to really find people who are not interested in their cute dresses or male cuteness and find those that can give credible connections to the food and the clients. Very disappointed. Made the place lower class as far as I am concerned. Embarrassing.

Loved it! The bartender was great describing all the different Tequilas. All four of us started with the blackened shrimp app, really yummy. Then I had the vegetarian sweet potato taco, probably the yummiest taco I have ever had. All four of us split a slice of key lime pie... it was just the way I like it a little tart and not too sweet. The hostess was delightful as was our waitress, both in a genuine yet slightly quirky fun way! It was just the kind of relaxed dining experience we needed to start off our Columbus Day weekend!

Recently visited this restaurant to entertain business clients as they suggested it. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Food was average. Tortilla chips were like Moes, greasy and somewhat stale. Salsa was not seasoned properly. Plaintain appetizer was way too overfried. Entree presentation looked very nice, but the NY strip steak I ordered medium rare came nearly well done. It was disappointing.

I was amazed and delighted to hear from the Santa Fe bar and grill after my last review! They really value their customers and wanted us to come back and try again and a generous gift certificate was so welcome and so completely unexpected. We enjoyed the excellent service and super friendly and attentive staff. Santa Fe has a beautiful back deck and you really feel like you are on vacation! Thank you to the management for being incredibly diligent and thoughtful! What great follow through! This is Hudson Valley hospitality at it's finest! We will definitely be back and will highly recommend to our airbnb guests! You have fully made it back on our list!

I love this place. The food is great, the service is great, it's just great! My favorite night is Tuesday, Taco and Tequila Tuesday. $4 Tacos (a la carte) and $5 Margaritas. The Sweet Potato Tacos are exquisite. The Guacamole is wonderful. I've had about 1/2 the menu and it's all great. The steak mushroom and red onion quesadilla is one of my favorites. This isn't your ordinary Mexican fare--it's like upscale Mexican. Go early or make a reservation, they get busy.

A co-worker and me ventured in on a Friday, the only day they serve lunch. I ordered the pulled pork tacos and WOW were they amazing. The pulled pork was juicy and had an amazing sauce. I did go for the side of guac since I love it with anything mexican, plus it gave the pork more flavor. I wasn't into the hot sauces, but my co-worker liked them. That was the one downfall of the meal for me, which is minor, but hot sauces should be perfected at a tex-mex joint. The service wasn't as great as I had hoped, considering there were only two tables being served and we were one of them. I went without a water refill for the entire meal since I didn't see the waitress till we were almost finished. Be a little more attentive! Overall, definitely would go back again!!

UPDATE: recently returned, ordered a margarita, straight up, and it was great! Have upgraded the review to four stars. Also had the fish tacos - one salmon and one catfish. Those are incredible. Seriously, crazy delicious. And they were served with three hot sauces for dipping (this may be the norm, I don't know). My friend tried the hottest one and, it was indeed quite spicy. I tried the medium and it was very tasty! Would definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

Excellent Mexican food. We had catfish tacos and pulled pork tacos. Both orders came with two tacos with rice and beans (excellent) and a salad side. Each was unique and distinctive; I'm glad we shared. The margaritas were made with high quality tequila. I definitely recommend Santa Fe Uptown if you're in Kingston and want a fun night out with top quality Mexican food.

Went here tonight with a large party from work. The staff were friendly and accommodating (we had a reservation). The ambiance is casual and cute. Nice bar area and there's a patio outside as well. The food was very good. I ordered the enchiladas tipicos and they were phenomenal. Big portion size. Two others at the table ordered the same and enjoyed it, too. Another ordered a chicken salad and that looked great! Again, portions were pretty generous. Another companion really enjoyed the blank bean soup. Heard the shrimp appetizer was unremarkable. Fresh salsa and chips were delicious. Margarita was spot on and fresh- no mixers, all homemade :) I'll definitely return.

Went here for dinner this past weekend with a large group of girls. We sat outside to enjoy the nice warm weather. I had a late lunch, so only ordered the black bean soup which hit the spot. It was just the right consistency, size, and had a wonderful blend of flavors. As I arrived last, I didn't get to try to chips, salsa, and guacamole since the rest of the girls CLEANED the plates off. I'm assuming they were THAT good. :P We had pitchers of margaritas that were nice, but could have been stronger. The rest of the girls ordered entrees and the portions were huge; I don't think anyone was able to finish their whole plate. Not a big deal, but it was a bit confusing figuring out who worked there, since the servers were all wearing random clothes (interesting that there isn't a uniform, but some name tags might be helpful). Regardless, the service was great and the food came out fast.

After perusing Yelp, I realized a fav spot up in Tivoli had opened another branch of their restaurant in Kingston. Tried it tonight and were delighted to find the quality, and innovative menu carried over to this new outpost as well. Formerly, we'd be fans of Armadillo, but quality has slipped quite noticabally over the years. We are pleased to have a new option for Mexican, one that stands a notch about. Highly recommended! PS. Homemade salsa is awesome!

Very friendly place with a nice atmosphere. Sat at the bar while waiting for a table. Bar service was friendly but understaffed -- the bartender didn't stop moving for the 45 minutes we sat there and we had a hard time getting his eye. Service was much more prompt once we got a table. Food came out fast and was delicious, with very spicy hot sauces on the side.

Been going to Santa Fe for a while now...the food is still fantastic, and I'm a big fan of their wings, but I'm sick of their inconsistent hours. Their hours are NOT posted on their website and seem to be at the whim of the staff. Called the other night at 9:30pm to find out they'd already closed at 9pm (I've been there on a Wed. when they've been open well-past). #Inconsistent

Dine or Ditch? Dine...bring your sombrero! I walked in with a group of friends for "Taco Tuesday," a term coined by one of the regulars living in Kingston. Although I cannot speak for the rest of the food on the menu, every Tuesday they have a $4 deal for any Taco on the menu, including the special of the day - this time chicken with avocado, along with all you can eat nachos and salsa. Overall the Taco's were tasty and well crafted with toppings and sauce. While I was happy with the food, and the price point was spot on, this certainly wasn't the best Taco I've had. What really made the experience was the fun ambiance and consideration from the wait staff - they provided several dining patrons who were sitting outside on the patio with multicolored hand woven shawls (for someone who always get's chilly, this was a nice touch!).

This is a really sweet spot in Uptown Kingston and we really need good restaurants there. Unfortunately, sweetness is also their undoing. The lemon water was served in the glass part of old sugar dispensers. This led me to think, "what did they do with all that sugar?" Why, they've put it in the food, of course! The menu is headed in the right direction, conceptually, but evidently they lost confidence and felt they had to -- add sugar! Everything from the sauces to the dressings were waaaaaay too sweet. They project a "healthy/freshest ingredients" philosophy but the sugar really blows that away. Some other points: - The staff was friendly and efficient - The place looks really nice and is a nice addition to Uptown. - The portions were small (I ordered an entree salad with grilled shrimp. There were only five shrimp served.) - The chips were colorful but didn't taste so good. Splurge a bit on your chips, folks! - The salsa could use some oomph. - Parking is available. I hope this review has a positive effect. I will try Sante Fe again in a few months and report back.

Our new favorite restaurant in town! We've had mixed experiences at Armadillo, the other Mexican restaurant in Kingston, so were super excited when we found out Santa Fe had opened. It's quickly become our favorite place to go when we're craving 1) Mexican, 2) Margaritas, or 3) Comfort food. The highlights: - the staff is always very friendly, prompt, and accommodating - as vegetarians, though there are limited options on the menu, we have been happy with every thing. I have cravings for the sweet potato and goat cheese tacos... and order it almost every time. - the homemade hot sauces, available by request, are sooooooo hot but incredible! Just a drop or two is enough! - the margaritas are stellar. I especially love the signature Santa Fe. - they are SO accommodating to vegetarians and gluten-free folks. I'm not celiac or gluten intolerant, but I often prefer the gluten-free corn tacos to the flour ones. It's never been a problem to sub them in my meal :) The only reason I've given 4 stars instead of 5 is because one time I ordered the Roasted Beet salad and it was the only time I've been a little disappointed. Despite the name of the dish, the beets tasted like they'd been boiled (a little soggy and without that deep, roasted flavor), and the pecans were coated in a sugary candied coating that was overly sweet. It wasn't terrible, just not as good as I'd hoped. Looking forward to the next visit!

Drinks - huge selection oh tequila and 3 Mexican beers on tap. They have a large bar area inherited from the previous restaurants at this location.
