Wow, just wow! Hubby and I just came from dinner at this restaurant and it was fantastic. From the making of the reservations, to the welcome and great smile from Tashi (hostess), to the nice table by the window. The evening started out great. We then were given our menus and were off to the races. We got great recommendations for drinks, appetizers and dinner. We had the red sangria which was very tasty and had a nice kick (very smooth, you felt it after a few sips). For our appetizer we had the sweet-chili wings, very good and the amount was fine for two people (8 wings). Then the main: Oxtails - I had rice and peas, hubby had Jollof rice - both were stellar. The meat was succulent, flavorful and the gravy had just the right amount of spice. We will be having some for lunch tomorrow! Believe it or not...we even saved some room for dessert - carrot cake. Yeah, I know, some places have carrot cake as a throw away dessert, but this one was delish. Not too sweet, with plump juicy raisins, walnuts, a caramel drizzle, cream cheese frosting and so fresh! Run don't walk to this establishment. The owners are fabulous people who are interested in making this the best place you have ever eaten. Support, you won't be sorry!

It was a snow storm the day we went so the place was not packed at all. It was a decent little gem in Brooklyn. We went for a birthday party that already had a preplanned meal picked. Jelloff Rice with no meat and fried chicken in some type of sauce. It was pretty regular food. My PIC wasn't that thrilled with it. Drinks were average. Tasted average and had decent prices. Lemon drops were 5 per shot. I ordered 2 different drinks and they were out of a couple different juices. Which was disappointing. The DJ was good and kept a good mix playing. There was just no one there to enjoy it. All and all we had a decent time. We would go back maybe in the summer when there is more people.

We liked it here! The food was good. I'm a big fan of the Tangy Gold wings. The Lagos rum punch is strong and refreshing. I had the oxtails and my friend had the fisherman's stew. The sauce for the oxtails was delicious. I would I have liked for the meat to have been falling off the bone, like I'm used to. But it was good nonetheless. The music was good and not overbearing, which seems to be hard to find these days. The waitress was very friendly and clear about their menu and offerings. I plan to come here for my birthday and if that goes over well, I'll be back to give the 5 star rating.

Made a reservation (9/19/15) and could not believe the music coming from the booming system, a half block away from the restaurant, was coming from the place that I made a brunch reservation for. There were balloons tied outside the door that also made me feel like I booked the wrong day to try this place out. Once at the door, the music was "club-level loud", so I decided to call the establishment from outside to cancel my reservation. But then no one answered the phone, so I guess they couldn't hear it ringing. I felt bad for being a no-show. But not worse than I felt after trekking to their no man's land location on an empty stomach. But believe it or not. I will be back with hopes of being able to have a true dining experience. Came here with a friend who had a Groupon. I got the chicken fingers & fries. Fair warning if you aren't into spicy foods: it's a little hot. There was a blend on the fries that reminded me of something people I knew in NC had on their fries. I think they'd totally go crazy for this "small" plate at lunchtime (b/c this was definitely not a small plate & this is not just skinny me saying that). This venue looks like it would be very nice in the evenings for happy hour or the events they have here since decor is awesome. Our server was also extremely nice & her recommendation of the barbecue sauce was spot on with my meal since it had a sweet blend that complimented the chicken fingers (which I also loved since it had some quality chicken, nothing overcooked or icky tasting). The drink selections looked good, though I'm not a drinker & couldn't tell you much about that nor how any drinks tasted since I didn't have any. It's closer to DUMBO or Downtown Brooklyn than Bed-Stuy (where Groupon said they were); we'd return.

The ambience is absolutely amazing! The service is impeccable. I went today with my 6 year old daughter for brunch. The menu didn't really accommodate children but the owner was so nice he made her pancakes after she mentioned it was what she really wanted. It's absolutely my new go to place. The white sangria was awesome and the shrimp linguine devine.

Save yourself the frustration. The service is subpar, the food is mediocre and the drinks taste like soap. After passing by countless times, my husband and I finally decided to try it out. I wanted to love this place but we were sadly disappointed.

Big portions for a small price tag. The service was also very attentive without being overbearing. Would definitely recommend for lunch/brunch.

This spot is the bomb, The drinks are tight, the food is delicious and the ladies are gorgeous. Ambiance and class in downtown BK. What more could you ask for ? Had the oxtails and though I forgot to post a before photo of my oxtails, but the after pic speaks for itself. Check this spot out, you can't go wrong .

AmaaaZing venue with amazing staff and great service. Helpful with all food selections because it is African inspired so if you're not used to the type of cuisine they will walk you thru it. Great set up in terms of seating and the view of he bridge. City lights! Not crowded yet but when people get used to the fact that this hidden gem is here it will be!

I went here for dinner last evening. The atmosphere was great. The food was even better. I was impressed with the level of service and I will definitely come back. I'm kind of surprised by some of the other reviews I've read here. Perhaps they've corrected some of the previous issues. This is a great addition to Brooklyn!!!

So this restaurant/lounge is kind of weird. I wasn't exactly sure what their theme was and I'm pretty sure they don't either. I came here on a Sunday afternoon to catch up with friends and scope out an event that was supposed to take place. When we entered, there were about two people to our left and two to our right. The individuals on the right asked us if we were there for a comedy event (not even close). We told her no and she nudged us in the direction of the hostess who seated us right away. Once we were seated and given our menus, we checked-in via Yelp and had our free house punches honored. We also placed our orders. As we sat and waited, my friends noticed that their cups of water were dirty. Mine was clean. Weird. The waitress gave them new cups of water and let us know that she had placed our orders. We chatted, waited, joked around, waited, observed the venue, waited. We waited about thirty minutes for our food to come. A long time in the food service industry according to my friends who have both worked in the industry in the past. My salmon was good though they used sesame seed buns (brioche would have been better since the bun is thicker and doesn't fall apart) and the fries that came with it were alright; just regular crinkly fries. My friends enjoyed their pancakes also. They ordered a pitcher of Sangria, which at the request of my friend was strong but had lemons and cherries in it. Those two things just don't belong in a Sangria. Maybe it was a special or something. Our waitress seemed relatively new and tried her best to make sure we had a pleasant experience. While she was good, the establishment wasn't. There seemed like there was a lot going on in the back of the house. So much so that it pushed its way up to the front. We never got to attend the event we were there for because apparently it wasn't even taking place but the comedian that begin to perform as we left was okay. Random note: there is a legal smoking room in the back.

We went for a bridal shower. There were three events that day Sunday afternoon it was under staffed the waiter was the bartender. The waiter was rude. He served 20 people. We waited 2 hrs For our appetizers and an hour for our entree. The bride was not happy she had words with the "manager". We really couldn't tell who managed what. Horrible I would not recommend it for an event at all. The food was ok. It's a shame it's a nice looking place but the service was terrible.

Went here for Cinco de Mayo with some friends. The venue was very nice and spacious and they were having drink specials for tequila shots, margaritas and beers. We ordered several margaritas, I didn't like the flavored margaritas so when I got my next one I ordered plain and it was much better. The food was good however it was disappointing that they had no oxtails which I wanted to try. I had some of the appetizer wings and for entree the curry chicken and I liked it a lot. Most of my friends liked their dishes. The staff is very welcoming and hospitable and the bathroom was nice and clean. I always like to see that when I'm at a restaurant. Overall I think I'd go back especially since I heard that they have parties there as well.

You cant tell me nothing about Amarachi or Amarachi Prime. I have been knowing Bubby and the Amarachi crew since my sister discovered the Brooklyn Gem. I threw my 40th birthday party there and it was so off the chain NYPD shut us down. You always feel at home with the Amarachi crew. Please drop in and hang out.

Decent food; horrible service. It took nearly an hour to get our first and only drinks of the night. Our server ignored us for most the night. The place was not packed or super busy and yet our food still took upwards of 40 minutes after we ordered. When our waitress finally brought it out to the table we still had no silverware. I then look at my plate of Jerk Chicken which comes with a side of asparagus. I had two pieces of asparagus on the plate. The food was good enough that I would probably order delivery from here in the future, but I doubt I'd ever subject myself to their horrible service again.

If you're thinking of bringing a large party here, don't. If you're thinking of bringing a date here, don't. The live music is obscenely loud and the singers walk around and aggressively shove the microphone in your face and sit at your tables singing. I wasn't aware that Amarachi was a cabaret. Moving on... We were a party of 15 (for 9/12/14 at 8pm) and this reservation was made last week. That is more than ample time to be prepared for our large party. We were there for 2.5 hours and hadn't even received silverware. The waitress' excuse was "We have to wait for the knives." Never in my life, have I been to a self-proclaimed "restaurant" that doesn't have silverware ready for their patrons. A few people from my party ordered calamari and they eventually served us two plates 30 minutes apart. No silverware or small plates were given out. And so, we passed these plates around the table. Our calamari did laps! I mean, what kind of business owner or manager (I believe his name is Chris) can sit in his office knowing a group of 15 adults are passing food around the table because of his restaurant's inadequacies and be okay with it? We were obviously frustrated and started asking questions. Then we were told, our order hadn't been given to the kitchen until 9:57 pm. We were told this around 10:35 pm. That was the last straw and so we left. God forbid we had stayed past 10:35; we wouldn't have left until 2 am honestly (and that's an optimistic time given how incredibly slow they were). In the end, all Amarachi had to offer were excuses. Anything they had to say was irrelevant and didn't make the cut. Amarachi ruined someone's birthday and 14 other people's night.

The Research Club, an international networking events firm held an event at Amarachi Prime 23rd February 2015. Jonathan and the team catered so well for our private business evening function with 150 guests. We had an amazing time with delicious splendid food and great service all round. The vibe was great and we recommend this venue to anyone and everyone!

Never order from here. I found them on seamless and ordered lunch (costing $26.00) and they promised delivery within 30-45 minutes (I only live a few blocks away). It is now almost 2 hours later and I have not received my food. Every attempt to contact the business results in a busy signal on the phone. Absolutely inexcusable and unacceptable. I will make every attempt to have the charge reversed on my card and will never order from here again.

Having enjoyed the owner's Amarachi Lounge for years (hung out, party there fully catered by them, events) I decided to drop by for lunch w a friend. First of all - we were met at the door w their signature service - courteous professional cool. Great vibes. Love the space - art, family, open, lots of light and big screen tvs and sound to boot. The food - I peeked at the summer salad as the chef was slicing the fresh mango and berries...I should have taken a pic but we threw it down so fast...delish. Lunch - I had the Bubby Burger cooked perfectly, season w lots of spices, super fresh and juicy. My date had the salmon omelette w hash browns. Amazing as well. Bonus-I think they said they do breakfast til 4? Yup. In my line of work I tend to convene/attend a lot of mtgs w coalitions, partners, etc. The right space is so key. I did a thorough look w this in mind and the pics do not do this place justice. Small or larger groups would work very well. I'll be looking to use this spot in the near future. Overall excellent. Enjoy!

Amarachi is one of my FAVORITE spots...not in Brooklyn, not in New York but PERIOD (and I travel A LOT). WHY...everything is EXCELLENT from the food to the drinks to the atmosphere. I get there and have a hard time leaving because it is just that good. I am one of the pickiest eaters alive and I eat everything possible off of the plate. This is definitely one of my favorite spots to hang out and have a great meal. The flavors and atmosphere will truly feel welcome. Your belly and tastebuds will thank you.

Was there for an after-work event. I've heard of this spot but never knew where it was (at the neck of the Manhattan Bridge in one of the side streets) so got a bit lost, but once I got there I was impressed. The vibe was nice, the DJ was great (not sure if it was their DJ or for the event). I ordered wings and they were deee-licious. The sweet Cuban option, I think. A bit pricey - $12, but at least it was super tasty. Anyhoo, I would def return. Cool spot.

Worst service. Called restaurant one hour into delivery. They told me left five minutes ago. Thirty more minutes go by, I call seamless. Seamless calls them, restaurant tell seamless it hasn't left. So either he lied on phone or is incompetent. Maybe time for some new hires...

I love this place! The atmosphere is sexy, friendly & sophisticated. The food is creatively delicious! The blending of flavors are definitely an incentive to come back again & again. The drinks are also a creative blend of alcohol that are quick to mellow & relax. This is my new hangout spot!

I'm giving Amarachi Prime FIVE STARS because it ROCKS!! A group of us girls visited to celebrate a birthday. From the decor, to customer service...it was all good. The food was excellent from appetizers to entrees to desert. It was a Friday night, there was a DJ (off the hook) and even a live show. The drinks were delish and unique. The ambiance was cool and mature and everything was priced just right. I had one of their specials of the evening which was boneless curry chicken with white rice. They even put spinach on the plate. It was the best curry I ever had and the spinach was a bonus and sooooooo good...it was just $10!!! Our server and another gentleman were on point, as far as assuring we were satisfied and taking pictures. He even danced with the birthday girl and provided desert. Can't wait to visit again...

The most unprofessional restaurant ever. I will most definitely NEVER come here again. We went for dinner on a Saturday night (surprisingly it didn't seem crowded at all. I guess I understand why now). We walked in and there was no one by the door to greet/seat us. We sat and waited for maybe 5 minutes before a man came down from the elevated area and seated us. No introduction. We have no idea who he was or what his role was. We sit down and wait again for any server to greet us and take our drink orders. A different guy came over and asked if we had been helped yet and went back to tell the server. When she finally came out she didn't have any menus or glasses of water in hand. She just told us she was our server and left to get the menus. She finally handed us menus and came back for our orders. The server made conversation with us and almost told us her whole life story down to when her bf wants them to have kids. Completely inappropriate. It must've taken 15-20 minutes to actually get our drinks and it was only 3 of us (out of 4) who ordered a drink. One of them was just a sprite! After that we literally waited an HOUR for our food to come. The server came over during that time and told us that she spoke to the chef and "told him about himself". That was how they compensated for the long wait. No complementary appetizer, round of drinks, dessert, bread, nothing. Again, unprofessional. We finally got our food after contemplating just getting up and leaving because of the long wait and lack of service to make up for it. The food was subpar, at best. And to make matters worse they have the nerve to add automatic gratuity. I know that's their policy but when the service is bad and you have your customers waiting this long you need to make adjustments or do something to make them feel like they're being taken care of. The waitress even caught an attitude when we disputed the automatic gratuity. I was really hoping to make this place a staple since it's black-owned but I absolutely will not be visiting again. It also doesn't look as put together as it does in their photos. Just an overall disappointment.

I went for an event last night and had an all around great time. They had a prix fix meal that came with the event. I had the fried tilapia topped with mango salsa & shrimps, with a side of jollof rice and cabbage. Let me tell you, the food was to die for, OMG!!! If I wasn't so stuffed (the portion size is more than generous), I would have cleaned my plate. Talk about a great balance of Nigerian and Caribbean food. It was the best of both worlds for me. The place was beyond packed and it took a little over 30 minutes to get our food. The drinks are always great. The bartenders were overwhelmed with orders but over time, I know they will improve. Keep in mind that they've been here for only 3 months. At the previous location, the bartenders only were taking drink orders. Now they're doing both drinks and food. I've seen how efficient they have been at their last location so I'm confident in this new spot.

Went here last night with a Groupon. I'm hard to please so I have to give credit where it is due. Service was excellent. Appetizer [calamari] and entree [Tilapia w/Shrimp/Salmon w/mac & cheese and spinach], the best. I was pleasantly surprised and will go again. Oh, the Thursday DJ did his thing. He was awesome!

This place is cool for big parties. The space is huge and the dj was on point paying everything from top 40, reggae, kompa, and old school music. While at the restaurant, you can get a free fruit punch drink by using yelp lol. The drink was a little strong for me...I was expecting a more fruitier taste. I ordered the tropical cooler which is as good as the name is. We were warned by the staff that the wait for food would be kind of long because there was another party bugger than ours that was also in attendance..and they weren't kidding. Our party size was about 15-20 people, and 2 of us (myself included) didn't get our entree and drinks well into dinner which definitely sucked. However, our meals were delicious. As an appetizer, I split the sweet chili wings with a friend. It comes with 8 and they were very tasty. I had the Optimus prime steak (medium well) which was awesome but because it took so long to come out, I barely ate it and had it packed to go. I wanted to try the cake in a bottle but they didn't have it available at that time so I tried some of the red velvet cake. As a self proclaimed connoisseur of cakes, I would pass. It's just a standard red velvet cake. I would come back here for drinks and appetizers but maybe early enough to beat the crowd if I plan on getting an entree.

Food was soooo below average. Went for a frat event and enjoyed the atmosphere but the food was horrid. Ordered the jerk wings shrimp and calamari. The calamari was over fried ( sent it back ). The wings and shrimp had to do because we were hungry. But wouldn't order food again from here.

This is the place that ex-con (on parole for murder) got into an altercation, starts waving a gun around and splits out the door... mins later NYPD guns him down as he turns the gun on police, literally about 50ft away from the front door! Happened about 2 months ago. They've been offering deals to everyone in the neighborhood especially NYPD & FDNY... more of a night club/lounge or "player's club" as it would have it than a respectable business. Tilapia de la Nigeria? C'mon now! Everybody knows that's just a fancy name slapped on a poor ass piece of fried fish. We have a saying down south, "you can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl!"

No,no,no! Now, this is definitely not a place I'd frequent (mainly due to distance) but I must say that it was a terrible first time so I definitely won't return. Also, to be quite honest this review is based solely on their ability to handle a "dinner party", not a regular night out at the lounge. The two stars given was for decent music and atmosphere otherwise I'd say NO STARS! Firstly, the service was terrible. We had a dinner party of maybe 20-25 and had one waitress! Poor thing didn't know if she was coming or going. I ordered oxtails at approximately 10p but was told they " ran out of oxtails" around 11:45p (EXACTLY) and my appetizer????? Calamari???? It came out after I ate the curry chicken that must have been African style because it was nothing like any curry I've eaten from India or West Indies. I couldn't even finish my small plate. I ordered a coca cola and a sprite came out. I was ready to kill somebody I was so damn hungry.

Black owned restaurant here! This place is AWESOME. Had a high school reunion here and it was the most fun I've had in a long time. The food was just delicious and the DJ played the best music. This is one of those places that you hope no one finds out about because you don't want it to get too crowded, but at the same time you want everybody to find out so it stays here forever. Parking right out front and not far from downtown shopping.

This place was awesome! The ambiance is nice and the food was great - I went for brunch! (French Toast with eggs and bacon; Ox Tails). Maxine was a great host and very accommodating. The drinks (Pitchers of Passion Fruit Mimosa and Mojito were GREAT!

Enjoy!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
