Great tacos! Small and cheap! I have been wanting to try this place and was very satisfied. I had the carnitas and shrimp are both were soooo good. The thing holding me back from giving it 5 stars is the guacamole. It's good but not great. Chips are a little too salty for my liking.
(4)Kamy D.
Surprisingly simple and simply delicious: tons of flavor in the marinade and sauce hugged by a home made corn tortilla.

Cute little taco spot!! This is definitely a great little fast food spot to grab tacos! The food taste authentic and flavorful. This place is great because if you just went to sit down and grab a good eat without going thru table service this is perfect. I decided to try the chicken taco and the carne asada taco with a side of rice and beans. I was very happy with both selections. They make the corn tortillas fresh on premises. The rice and beans tasted home-made and the meats were seasoned well. The best part was it was all $10. This is such a great gem and I know for sure I will be returning here. Seating is very limited inside but they do have plenty of seating outside during the warmer weather. Taco lovers must try!!

Things to like about Otto's Tacos, ranked: 1. Small in size, big in flavor tacos. 2. Fast service. 3. Mushroom offering. Four solid yelps.

Best tacos in NYC... IMO. Carnitas and chips/guac blows minds on a regular basis. Minus one star for reliably slow as F service. C'mon Otto how hard is it to make a couple tacos in under 15 minutes???

This place was amazing for tacos. The juice dripping was infused with flavor. The corn tortillas seemed to be homemade. The salsa, the chips, the cilantro. OH-MY-GOD. We need one of these in Austin. The ambiance and design was crazy adorable. I loved the urban industrial look with vintage light bulbs. What made it more fun was the jam session we had while devouring our tacos. Will be back.

What can I say they have delicious tacos. I tried the steak, chicken and shrimp all of them were great. The meat was cooked well and the sauces were great. Will be back

Pretty disappointed in the tacos here. The tortillas looked like it would be delicious, but it really didn't do it for me. They're a bit thicker, which was actually good because it held up nicely. However, there were certain areas that were harder than others..which was not enjoyable. I got carne asada and carnitas tacos. Carne Asada was really good and tender and flavorful. The carnitas; however, were a bit mehh. A little salty and just not anything special. What really killed it for me was the heat factor! There is none. The only sauce they offer is Valentinos(?). Not spicy. Not anything really. The tacos were definitely not good enough to stand alone. Masa fries were different, but pretty tasty. Crunchy, thick texture. I did enjoy the sauce that came with it! Service - you order the food at the counter. They call your name when it's ready. You take it to the table, eat, and throw away your trash afterwards.

OK, these small corn tortilla tacos are amazing. Had the beef (it's pieces, not ground beef) and chicken. Tried my wife's shrimp. All were awesome! Beans and rice were top-notch, and I'm not usually a fan of anything but black beans. Chips and guac were great. The chips themselves were awesomely medium-thick and perfectly seasoned. Great little place to stop in for a bite!

The Quick: I had a foodgasm eating the carnitas and steak tacos. Was I sober? No. Am I ever sober while eating tacos? Most likely not. Am I good judge of tacos? Abso-freakin-lutely. The Details: Wow. Disclaimer, these tacos are covered in fresh cilantro which I personally love but if you have do not, these tacos are not for you. The meat is so juicy and flavorful and the simple yet delicious. The cilantro onions and green salsa are just perfection. No-frills, in and out the spot, that just has great tacos. The Damage: ~ $3 per taco. For a snack 2 are fine, for dinner I'd probably eat eat least 4 but I'm a mess ** I have the same passion for both locations, therefore the same review applies. Arriba!
(4)Gab G.
Delicious! I had a pork taco and a steak taco. Very fresh ingredients, great tasting and filling. I also had the fries, but I would skip them next time since they are essentially fried tortilla strips - not that interesting. Tasty dipping sauce, though. Save the room and order another taco!

When you come of drinking age in Southern California, you expect there to be tacos when you say adios to your bartender and call it a night. So when I moved here and people told me about their pizza-eating ways past-midnight...I just sobbed softly into store-bought tortillas. But cry no more! Because Otto's Tacos is probably the best late-night snacking in the city. They're certainly not Manhattan's best (for that, go to Los Tacos No. 1), but at 1 a.m. on a Friday night after a few drinks--you'll be pleased you stumbled in here. I can personally vouch for the carnitas, but from the looks of my friend's steak and chicken combo, it looked pretty yumtastic. I'll remember this place next time I miss my beloved burritos 3,000 miles away!

So for a ladies night, we opted for Otto's Tacos. What we failed to realize is that there are two Otto's Tacos. True story. Half an hour later, we were eating chips with guac and delicious tacos on tall stools. (I hauled my butt 8-9 blocks in painful booties. Fun times). The tortillas are made to order. I had carnitas and carne asada (what can I say? I love meat). Washed it down with beer and Horchata. The Horchata was great. This mixture was made from rice milk. It was light, very fresh (despite that it was bottled), slightly sweet, and less thick than the almond Horchatas that I have had in Seville. Very nice. Definitely superior to the Horchata at Los Tacos in Chelsea market. The Carne Asada was well seasoned, and seared right. Juicier than I expected. To be honest, I still prefer Tacos El Bronco's carne asada. I love TEB's pineapple topping with the seared seasoned meat. But Otto's Carnitas were amazing! The volume of amazing pork juices soaked through the corn tortilla. The pork tasted like it was slow cooked for 4-5 hours. I wanted 5 of these. Definitely returning. This is one of the best places in the West Village for a quickie inexpensive dinner.
(4)Christina F.
Nice little place with really fresh ingredients. I got a chicken and pork tacos and to be honest the meat tasted the same. I thought the portion size was fine and good value. Ingredients were fresh and the salsa was on point (medium). In a nice area too! All in all good choice for lunch!
(4)Rayshauna G.
I love, love, love Otto's. Their churros are amazing and they didn't forget about us vegetarians - their mushroom taco with red sauce is so incredibly good. Pair it with a Mexican coke and you're all set. This was my last stop before heading back to Boston...and I'm so glad I made a stop here.
(5)Franny A.
Brooklyn comes to Manhattan & the Eastside comes West with great tacos. I had heard & read how great the tacos are and they are. Only gripe is tight seating & no Lou. Food wise: Flavors are BIG! Ate: Chicken taco Mushroom taco Chips & guac Rice & beans All tacos are on housemade corn tortillas & they are juicy good. I really liked the mushroom & warm chips and retried beans & containers too. $13 buckaroos! Great spot near the Christopher St. Tube.

THE BEST TACOS are found here wowowowowowoo I PROMISE you, these are the most tasty tacos and I've already been back to have more. I literally have tried everything on the menu and here are the details 1. The tacos are served on the most fresh tasting corn tortillas you've ever eaten 2. SHRIMP tacos are so tasty and have this wonderful sauce on them - order 2 3. Carnitas = amazing 4. Chicken = amazing 5. Steak I would choose these as my least favorite but still good 6. Chips and Guac - gotta have this with any taco right 7. Masa fries were good but next time I did not order them so I could have more shrimp tacos 8. Churros; guys. these are SO FRESH. Fried right before your eyes and taste so warm and hot and melt in your mouth good, my mouth is watering currently thinking about them. These are not your average, trust me and order them. Moral of the story, go here ASAP.

Quick in and out taco shop. The carnitas tacos were delicious! Juicy meat, zesty salsa, and covered in onions and cilantro. 2 are prefect for a snack. Would get 4 if going for dinner. There's indoor and outdoor seating.
(4)Janet G.
Fast food, fast good Mexican food, here it is. needed a bite, not a dinner or lunch even. Passed the brunch time in other places so there I was, wandering around. Slightly hungry but not ready to commit. Small but Hefty tortilla tacos with super yummy sauces. The guajillo sauce is Great!! The red sauce was surprisingly spicy, the kind of spicy that is natural and tastes fresh. Not syracha spicy! FEAR NOT there is ORCHATA h2O !!! Can't talk about the meat, but I did enjoy the shrimp and shroom tacos. Yummy little dose to tame my feelings of melancholy for Mexico.
(5)Meghan S.
Fantastic tasting tacos, guacamole was amazing. Sauces awesome. Why the 4 stars? Price to size ratio. $3 for a 3 bite taco. They do load the tacos up with meat, but still, $1 a bite? They are generous with the chips for the guacamole though
(4)Michael M.
The only thing that would make it better would be more veggie options and maybe a diff type of mushroom. Glad to have them in the neighborhood. Staff seemed a better than the typical food service employee

After hearing such rave reviews from the East Village location, I was happy to see that an Ottos opened up near me... I was expecting grandiose tacos given all the hype but I thought it was ok. Better than ok- definitely tasty- but not earth shattering. Bf and I came on a nice open night, he had the carne Asada taco, chicken and carnitas. I had the same except shrimp Instead of the steak. Didn't try the steak at all but the shrimp was ok - the pieces were delicious and plump, but the creama sauce was a bit lacking in flavor. The carnitas was juicy but not hot, and it was very lean (which I guess is good but also.. Flavorless?) The chicken was by far our favorite - it was nicely charred and flavor was on point. I appreciate the use of fresh veggies and the hearty, thick tortilla on all tacos. And the Valencia hot sauce is awesome. A much better version of franks hot. We also split the masa fries which was rolled corn, baked and fried. This was really creative and inventive and delish. The cilantro Dipping sauce was great and I like how they were cut thin. As the service and price point so expect food to come out fast and costs below 20 a head. FYI this store plays awesome music (Tbt old school hip hop!)

A carbon copy of its LES brother, or any other otto's. Does this qualify them as a chain? They certainly look like one. I'm not saying some chain's cannot produce decent food, but to me, for some reason, its a bit off-putting. Never the less, otto's is down the street from my office, and on a nice day is a great place to enjoy some taco's. Solid taco's. A bit better than average IMO. However, I happen to be a bit on the gluttonous side when it comes to certain foods. Taco's are definitely one of them, and the fact that the taco's are rather small, and I had to get up and order again was annoying. (im lazy as fuck). I asked the kid working if he could somehow make a giant tortilla in the machine and make 1 giant taco, and he looked at me like I had two heads. . . I digress. Overall, Otto's is a good choice, and I would return when in the neighborhood.

Otto's Tacos is pretty fantastic. It's your basic, no frills eatery where you can grab some awesome food pretty quick. We came in as a group of three and had our food within about 5 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. We shared the chips and guac as well as the Masa fries with the table. The Masa fries are so much better than I thought, but I'd really never consider ordering fries at a taco joint. Thick, corny, salty fried goodness paired with a nice sauce. The chips and guac weren't so exciting, but they do give a big portion of both. I tried the carnitas and the carne asada tacos. The corn tortillas were great - they're not too thick and unlike most other 'authentic' Mexican fare, they only do one per taco. I'm a fan. The meats were both seasoned very well, but I think I'd give carnitas the edge, since the salsa pairing was tastier. The carne asada had a spicy and sweetish salsa, which I'd probably opt out in future visits. To each their own. I'll definitely be back.

Excited is an understatement of my reaction when I saw that Otto's Tacos was opening a shop in the West Village. I had been trying to make it to the East Village location for over a year, but never was able to get there. I stalked the West Village location throughout construction and think I was in there on one of their first days open. And I wasn't really a fan. I've been back two additional times and now must face the music and say I think these tacos are just ok. I've had the shrimp tacos every visit because I'm obsessed with shrimp tacos, the mushroom tacos, and the fish taco, which was a special on my last visit (not always available). The shrimp are tasty in the taco, which is topped by cilantro and onions (yummy) but the green sauce on the taco is over powering for me. By the way, did I mention I love sauce? But not this sauce, and not on this taco. The mushroom taco has a nice chipotle fresh salsa on it but it is not a very outstanding taco even so. The special fish taco had battered fish with the same meh sauce as the shrimp tacos. The home made tortillas are good, and the guacamole has good flavor but the consistency is a bit too smooth for my taste. Seeing how many great reviews there are for Otto's, I can only assume their meat tacos are off the chain, and although I am not enamored with any of the tacos I've had here, it's nice that on any given day a pescetarian like me can choose from 2-3 tacos on the menu. Heads up to the vegetarians out there, the rice and beans are made with animal fat.

Legit tacos. $3.25 for most tacos on the small side, but good. Moist and fresh meat which is hard to find sometimes. Various locations in Manhattan. The ones that I can think of off hand are East Village and West Village. Looks like they make their tortillas there. Not the traditional flavor but they were good. Definitely worth a visit.
(4)Ryan R.
Wow! From such a fancy shmancy establishment I totally didn't expect such amazing food! Carnitas were totally tender. Woah. Juiciness. Softness. Oh, supple pig, I thank thee for thine existence. Next, the carne asada! Little over moist but that's a preference. Totally great. The home made corn tortilla was thick and the veggies were great. Hot sauce was a nice kick! The home made horchata was the best I've had in NYC. To die for. Or not die, because you can't enjoy it again afterward, but certainly sell your soul to demons for it. But the Masa fries were what made my eyes and tongue roll from their respective sockets. Oh woman! They were drool worthy. I will think of them often. Service was sweet too! Bummed by the lack of restroom. Also that the seating area was small. But understanding the NYC context, I forgive them and won't deduct a star. Thanks ladies and men! And other genders too. You all rocked here!
(5)Raisa V.
I appreciate the fresh made tortilla ... The food is super flavorful but salty ...... I had the carnitas taco and the chicken taco .. The carnitas was more salty than the chicken .. I also bought the rice and beans ... Don't order it .... Sucks in my opinion .. Tough rice .. The rice n beans wasn't salty tho ..... Bring a gallon of water
(3)Gabi F.
Pretty good tacos! $3 each for chicken and carnitas. They are street taco size... so 2-3 is a good portion for dinner. I would recommend the masa fries though ($3). They are unique and quite tasty. Masa, deep fried, lightly salted, and served with some type of chipotle aioli. The serving is big enough for 2-3 people. It is a fast-casual concept so a great place to go for quick food.
(4)Davide L.
Being a Los Angeles native I really enjoyed these tacos. New York seems to lack on good Mexican food. This is definitely one of the best places I ate on my trip beating out some of the expensive restaurants I went to. Chose the Carne Asada and Chicken tacos. The Masa fries were also extremely delicious!
(5)Frederick C.
Overall, nothing tasted bad. My problem was, that bringing my takeout on the walk across the street caused for my tacos to become a bit cold, and the tortillas too soft to eat like a taco. Despite having to use a fork to eat it all, the flavors were decent, and they are pretty cheap tacos. The masa fries were pretty good with the chipotle mayo as well...
(3)Laurie M.
Delicious, delicious food, especially at 1am on a Friday night after a beer or two. I live in the area and this type of place is a rare breed. Not too many options for quality, cheap food in a casual environment where you order from the counter. Also a nice alternative to the typical late night falafel. Ordered carne asada tacos, masa fries and guacamole. Each was good, surprisingly unique and a decent portion size. The tacos had homemade tortillas that were thicker than usual but tasty. Masa fries were hearty and came with some type of spicy mayo sauce that was really good in combination with the guacamole.
(5)Nath L.
Didn't care for the beef tacoes. Spice mix tasted odd. Adored the warm churros made to order though! Would return for that alone.
(3)Zach G.
I had lunch there yesterday. The tacos were okay. The best part was the tortillas, but the ingredients in side were not as high quality for the price you pay per taco. The salsa taste great, but he chips were not up to par with the quality of the salsa.
(3)Jesse S.
Get the carnitas tacos! And don't forget to grab a bottle of their hot sauce. The tortillas are phenomenal. Nice and quick service. Several tables to sit outside on a beautiful day.
(4)Vincent D.
My favorite taco spot in NYC now has an outpost on the West side! Definitely a unique taco experience - shells are made in house and like nothing I've had before. The shrimp taco is my favorite, and if you're in the mood try the masa fries - essentially their taco shell ingredients formed like a fry and fried - I've heard the accompanying sauce described as 'crack'. Enjoy!
(5)Bambino D.
The service is the best part of Otto's. The people are nice, efficient, and helpful. But for $3.75 for one tiny taco, it's not a great deal. The vegetarian taco was good, but I wasn't over the moon about the flavor, pretty basic. Everyone in this place deserves a raise though. They seem to work pretty hard.
(2)Sylvia P.
Fresh made corn tortillas, lively ingredients, happy tummy. I love that they press their tortillas to order - unlike many other taquerias the tacos are served on one thick tortilla versus two thinner ones. The ratio of ingredients, as well as the flavors are balanced. The meat is a tad on the greasy side. But kind of expensive for a teeny tiny bite - it's not like they're using grassfed and organic meats or anything of the sort. A filling meal will likely set you back $15 or more Great spot on 2nd ave to sit and people watch while you enjoy your tacos and cerveza.
(4)Rachelle R.
Carne asada with masa fries and a Pacifico, please! One of the coolest and best casual taco joints in the village - give it a try!

Decided to order for another office lunch after reading the reviews. Mixed chicken, steak and pork tacos. The pork tacos were def my fav. It was very flavorful and had plenty of seasoning and juiciness. The chicken I felt was a little bit under cooked. Since I don't eat red meat I can't fully judge but was told by my coworkers they really loved them. We also ordered sides: rice and beans, chips and guac and chips and salsa. And finished with some yummy churros with caramel dipping sauce! Considering I ordered late in the morning, the food was definitely delivered on time for 7 people for lunch time.
(4)James P.
Best tacos I have had in a long time. The tortilla, seasoned meats and veggies all come together with the salsas. Perfect size, a great lunch meal!
(5)Laura B.
Had a really tasty meal here. Tried the chicken, carnitas and carne asada tacos, as well as the rice and beans. The tortillas were especially delicious. Coming from SoCal I'm picky about tacos, and I am impressed. All in all an inexpensive, simple, fast and tasty edition to the neighborhood.
(5)A L.
If you're looking for an affordable and satisfying Mexican-food fix, I'd opt for Chipotle instead. You'll get more for your dollar there. My shrimp tacos were about $3 each. As expected, the shrimp and the tacos were small, but the sauce they threw on top was pretty good. If I didn't get a side of chips with their spicy red sauce I'd still be hungry.
(2)Uli N.
The tacos are ok, service isn't at all friendly and the wait insane. Just a churro took 20 min. Good brand name, but there are places much better taco places around.

Delicious flavorful Mexico-city style tacos. The meat are all well seasoned and the tacos need no sauce, unless you want heat. Chicken and pork are the best. Beef could be better. It has good flavor, but tastes like ground beef.
(4)Melissa K.
Was craving Mexican and this place hit the spot. I'm from La, so it's not quite the taco stand tacos I'm used to (they're definitely "inspired" like they say) but none the less they are super tasty! And the salsa makes them pop. A must try quick spot if you're on the Westside.
(4)Robert L.
The tortilla is terrible here. It's too thick and dry. And over price for what it's worth. This place is some hipsters wanna be gourmet Mexican food. But poorly executed.
(2)Dan M.
If you are in the area or close it's just a joint you need to experience. Clean, on point and service was great. This will be a regular for sure.
(5)Sean C.
Excellent taco alternative to Chipotle. Got the Carne, Carnitas, and Chicken tacos. Meat was moist and flavorful and toppings were just right. Not a huge corn tortilla fan but didn't mind them here. Also had the guacamole and salsa, both were very good. The only thing I didn't care for were the masa fries, thought they were dry and wouldn't get them again. Maybe a got a bad batch based on the other reviews. Overall great food, will be part of my rotation.
(4)Erica F.
It's pretty good. I think it's a bit too salty. The tacos seem to be lacking something. Some radish something sweet to the savory. The food is just lacking an edge. It's fast and convenient but when you start adding up the money you might as well go to Empellón TAQUERIA across the street on West 10th.

finally excellent fresh flavorful tacos in nyc on the east side. i was just about to give up entirely and leave my taco dining to visits to california. or that other place down in the west village, name I can never remember because i always vow to never go back because it's too expensive for tacos. the only snag is i ordered delivery through caviar a 2:19. finally at 3:30, waaay past delivery window, they showed up. super cold. and the bag of chips was open, totally exposed. they could have at least folded over the top of the bag.

So, this review is probably about 15 visits late, but hey better late than never. The first time I stumbled upon this spot I was looking for a something meatless for Friday, since I was following Lent, so I went with the mushroom taco. It was so good that I immediately, and somewhat embarrassingly, ordered a shrimp taco, and that was great, too. So, for about 14 consistent visits I've ordered mushroom and shrimp tacos, but today I decided to also order the Carne Asada, so I didn't appear to be an obsessive freak. Well damn, the Carne Asada taco was off the charts, too. What I like about their tacos is the size(fairly small), the tortillas(homemade corn), and the ingredients(mostly meat or veggie and some onions or other sauces). They don't ruin the flavor by adding a bunch of sour cream, cheese, and other stuff. You can also request guacamole, which is also very tasty. I recently tried another taco spot that is highly rated(it's on Delancey street). Otto's was hands down better and I love that their consistent. I will say that their customer loyalty program sucks but given that I'll still come to this spot at least once a week, I guess it's not really a big deal. Their program is that once you accumulate 100 points you receive a 15% discount(you also receive a 15% discount on your first purchase on the program). The discounts are rewarded back to your card. Anyway, you can't go wrong with the Otto's crew
(5)Hanskarl L.
Honestly can say one of the best tacos I've had and with such fast service. I didn't really expect much from this place besides being another chipotle rip off but I was hungry and in a bit of a rush. Well I was definitely wrong about that as soon as I took the first bite of my carne asada taco and was taken by surprise. I left there satisfied, full and didn't spend as much with the prices being fair.
(4)One D.
Simplicity executed well, Otto's gets 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 for being in this immediate area which is sort of a desert for good fast casual food. Otto's is a quick taco stand style spot specializing in fresh corn tortillas for the tacos. They are excellent tortillas texturally and flavor wise. I'd like a touch lower on the price point for a taco that takes 15seconds to prepare, but at $3.25 per, it isn't awful. Compared to the taco place inside Chelsea Market, otto's doesn't come close however. and there is no self serve toppings bar. In any case, it is nice to have in this area a fresh tortilla authentic style taco spot.
(4)Parisa M.
It is OK! I love Tacos, and was so excited of trying this new place in west village, honestly, their pricing is convenient, but the actual tortillas are kind of greasy and oily!
(3)neel s.
good tacos.. good hot sauce too!
(4)Melanie D.
my favorite tacos! Pretty cheap for new york and staff is funny and helpful! cute atmosphere in a cool neighborhood.
(5)Connie S.
Uhhhhhbsessed w this place. Had a couple shrimp tacos ($3.50 each) and masa fries ($2). The other tacos (chicken, carne asada, and others were $3 each. Each taco is about the size of my palm. Guac is $0.45 whooooo! Was so good I went back the next day and ordered the same thing. I very well may go back tomorrow and the day after and the day after that as well. There's enough seating for ~15 people along a wall w stools and a long table. You order at the counter and pick up your food on a tray or togo. So yummmmmmmmy. This LA girl approves!
(5)Sneha R.
Really liked the vegetarian Mushroom Taco - Really cheap at 3$ with Guac it came to 3.45$ - Can't ask for a better deal if you are looking for some cheap food!
(4)Guy V.
Yummy tacos that are pretty small but also cheap (around $3-4 per taco). Perfect place for a casual snack after going out for drinks, as they are open late. Coming from Texas, I found these tacos to be flavorful and interesting, and I would recommend them to someone who wants a quick late night bite.
(4)David R.
Different but fantastic. Not on the menu but get the gorgon! Shrimp tacos are also great.
(5)sarah p.
As a West Village resident for almost a decade, one of the main reasons why I stay in the neighborhood (besides the quiet cobblestone tree covered streets) is the food. There are SO MANY GOOD restaurants in the West Village. However, through the years, as rents have increased and a lot of the smaller casual restaurants have been forced out, the ability to grab something delicious and quick has dwindled. Enter: Otto's Tacos. I've been a huge fan (and good friend of, supporter of, collaborator with and advocate of) their food since they opened in the East Village last year, so I am thrilled to have them come to my neighborhood. FULL DISCLOSURE: I am totally biased, they are family. But the bias comes from a good place. I wouldn't eat the food of my best friend, mother, brother or sister if I didn't like it. Maybe my father. And I definitely wouldn't advocate for it, support it and promote it if I didn't love it. Otto's food is fresh, simple and packed with bold flavors. My favorites are the shrimp, mushroom, carne asada and their now infamous deep-friend taco - the Gorgon. Wash it all down with a delicious (and affordable) beer and their perfectly crunchy Masa Fries (yup, tortilla + french fries had a baby and that baby is delicious). I highly recommend coming in for a taco or five. The West Village casual dining scene is a much better place with these guys (and Mighty Quinn's just around the corner! Amazing!) now in it. I guarantee if you live in 10014, this is your new go-to.
(5)Alyssa B.
These tacos are some of the best in nyc and that coming from a Californian! Simple menu, cheap price, flavorful meat and great tortillas. Fast service too. We will definitely be back. They are really simple: meat, onions, one kind of salsa and cilantro.
(5)Lydia T.
Really good and very affordable. Every visit the staff makes me smile. Thanks Otto! I think the shrimp taco is the best....
(4)Diane F.
So I do not like Mexican food... but these tocos are so good that I have them at least once a week. Their salsa Verde has the perfect amount of heat and their chicken taco Is spiced to perfection. This gets added to the list of Great Cheap Eats of NYC.
(5)Kevin F.
Fabulous tacos. Never had better. Had pork with green salsa. Taco shell flexible. And tasty as well as filling. Still yearning for more.
(5)Kaite A.
Stopped by yesterday; glad I did! There are not enough "quick eats" in the 10014; restaurants, yes. But, besides sloppy pizza slices or coffee/cookie type places, there are little options for speedy and delicious eats with no fuss. Impressive news: TACOS in the West Village!! Yum. No more freezing my bum off at the chorizo trucks around the 1 train stop at Christopher Street. (Actually, I stopped that practice awhile ago and as such, there's been a taco drought in my winter soul.) No more. With Otto's Taco, you can sit down on a comfortable stool at their communal table that peeps Seventh avenue. That's what I did yesterday, and it was a yummy good time. I had the chicken taco made with cilantro and onion, then an order of rice and beans. Fresh ingredients and taste home-made; I thought I would save the rice and beans for later. Nope, I ate them all and wondered if I should get an order to go. My diet and budget rained in my enthusiasm. But, there will be a next time. Hey Otto's Taco: any chance for a taco-stamp card? I'm almost afraid of one; look out coffee addiction, you might have company. Note: I am not family but if I were, I would eat there daily. Seriously. I lean towards a paleo-type diet, when I can...
(5)Nyah K.
Very quick! Chicken was cold though. I'm not so sure on keen on the tortillas. I may try something something else another time.
(3)Aamer A.
Great place for a quick bite at a reasonable price. The salsa is tasty and the ingredients are fresh. Can't go wrong here.
(4)Steve S.
Went here for lunch. Ordered 2 chicken tacos and a soda. The meat was not hot, it was cold, almost as cold as the salsa on the taco. This was very disappointing. Can you guys make to tortilla any smaller?
(1)Sarah G.
Great tacos! Fish one was by far my favorite. Rice and beans could've had a little more flavor but overall i really enjoyed and i would definitely go back,
(4)Jason A.
the tortillas are fresh and home made which is a rarity in NYC, the flavors feel very authentic and more like LA than NY (in a good way). I tried the Baja tacos and the guacamole, both were A+ excellent. looking fw to trying everything else on the menu.
(4)Christina N.
The tacos were average. The corn tortilla seemed stale and my shrimp tacos were those mini frozen shrimps you buy at the grocery store and it definitely showed in presentation and taste. The masa fries were good. The service was OK. The guy at the register didn't seem happy to be there and that's never a comfortable feeling for a customer. The place itself was conveniently located in a very nice neighborhood with many bars and restaurants.
(3)Katie I.
Excellent quality tacos that aren't over-priced. When I say quality I mean not chain-style and excellent tasting meat and corn tortilla and sauce. Located in West Village and open late so perfect after drinking. The carnitas tacos were banging and I'm a bit of a taco fanatic so I've tasted the spectrum of tacos. Delicious! They also were able to accommodate my super picky friend (pescatarian health nut) by having shrimp and mushroom tacos. Stop by here if you love tacos. I misjudged it when I first walked in because of the fact that it was open late and looked like a chain (cashier and glass where you can see them assemble the taco). Because of that I thought the tacos would be The Taco Truck -quality of the one in Hoboken but they were way better. Carnitas were on par with Taqueria Downtown (Jersey City) if that helps my fellow foodies. Place isn't exactly fancy but good enough to enjoy good super casual eats with friends (think Chipotle style in terms of casual but serving higher quality food at good prices and has beer).
(5)Carol G.
As a Mexican-American with a grandma whose fluffy hands make the best corn tortillas, I am finnicky about my tacos. And my tortillas. Otto's food is spot on. They put a creative spin on all the classics, and the end result is flavor awesomeness. My favorites are the fish, shrimp and carne asada tacos. Especially the fish. Masa fries are not be missed, and the beans and rice were good supporting actors. The beans are creamy, all thanks to the pork fat that they use. The only miss was the horchata. The flavor is good, but the consistency is a bit heavy for my liking. I think La Esquina remains the best in this liquid category.
(5)Brandon B.
The taco's were pretty good; decent, really. I tried three different types. Generally too salty and pretty un-nuanced. The guac was also too salty, not at all spicy, and generally only moderately constructed. The red salsa has a very odd flavor, which I found quite offputting. The green salsa is good, however, and the chips middle of the road. I doubt I'll come back here, but it wasn't worthy of a sub-3 rating
(3)Allan M.
Chicken tacos were excellent - slightly tangy oil, fresh onions, crumbly corn shells. You can order them per taco, which is nice. What made me happiest about Otto's, however, was the very well made horchata. I haven't had any this good since I left California. Servers were friendly and warm.
(5)Carrianne C.
Otto's tacos were good but I wasn't totally sold on their tortilla. Mine was kind of weird in taste and texture, and the shrimp taco had maybe a little too much crema? I love that you can get a big dollop of guac for a teensie weensie charge (*ahem* Chipotle!!), and I like that there are some tables outside for people watching.
(3)Luz T.
Atmosphere: A+ Dine in, or take out. Outside and minimal inside seating. Tacos: A+ Ordered carne asada and they did not disappoint. Their tortilla and sauce really topped it off. Drinks: A They offer a minimal selection of beer and one side horchata (rice milk) among other drinks, which tastes AMAZING! I wish they had a large size :) Service: A+ Speedy, and friendly. Even on a busy Friday night. First time here from Chicago, and I would def visit again next here!!!
(5)Dan G.
The tacos are pretty good. I'd definitely come here again for a quick bite. I was craving Otto's Tacos for the second time, so that definitely means something.
(3)Harry H.
My experience was a 2 but it's rounded up for the potential I know they have -- let's call it a 'saddest thing in life is wasted talent' bonus point. I wish I could say my experience here was as overwhelmingly positive as at the EV OG. Called to see if I could order the gorgon (or pay for an equivalent item and have them prepare it instead) and was denied, OK, fine. Ordered Grubhub pickup of a carne asada taco, a mushroom taco, and a shrimp taco. They don't offer delivery through Grubhub, yet I arrived to shocked faces and 2 separate staffers insisting I ordered delivery, then failed attempts by them to contact the driver, who then called me as I stood at the counter and handed them my phone to get the guy to stop yelling in my ear. Another downside is the purchase doesn't register for Swipely since it's processed as Grubhub rather than Otto's Tacos, so the 15% off via Grubhub counteracted itself. Sadly the shrimp taco was the only one that wow'd, as the much-lauded carne asada and the mushroom were really forgettable, with just the tortillas shining. The nasty attitude of the guy preparing the food and his deliberate 'slap-some-slop onto a mess hall tray' technique really didn't add to the nonexistent charm.
(3)Adam Z.
I greatly needed reasonably priced addition to the neighborhood. Skip the masa fries -- too carb-heavy. I have met the Gorgon and slain the Gorgon, but I would bring a friend if I was going to do it again.
(4)Tiffany L.
Delicious tacos and horchata! Small space inside but our group of 8 were able to share the large table inside on a Sunday afternoon. They make their corn tortillas fresh. The best taco was the carne asada - HUGE flavor explosion. The masa fries are made our of corn and super dense. Fun to try but in the future I'd stick to their chips! Horchata is creamy, cinnamon-y deliciousness.
(4)Stefano D.
After having just spent a week in Mexico City having the BEST tacos, I came here today with my partner and had really good tacos, for New York. Very tasty, good corn tortillas, good carnitas! In a warm New York night, I would have preferred my Pacifico beer colder.
(4)Tara H.
I'm working at the new mrs. Greens store opening up in the neighborhood and came here for my lunch break; exactly what I needed. I got a carnitas taco and everything about it was fantastic, prices very reasonable too. Definitely my new favorite spot for lunch!
(5)Rosetta S.
I think this is fast becoming a chain, but it's a pretty good one. I like the thick homemade tortillas. The people at this location are very attentive and polite, and the service is quick. I like the carnitas, though they can be a little too salty. The chicken is delicious too. They have Valentina hot sauce, which I love, but they need to also have a spicier option. It's a good, quick place to grab a bite in an otherwise overpriced hood. Very few fast and tasty options that won't hurt the wallet.
(4)Raisa V.
(3)Vincent D.
(2)Uli N.

(2)Kevin F.

Really liked the vegetarian Mushroom Taco - Really cheap at 3$ with Guac it came to 3.45$ - Can't ask for a better deal if you are looking for some cheap food!

Chicken tacos were excellent - slightly tangy oil, fresh onions, crumbly corn shells. You can order them per taco, which is nice. What made me happiest about Otto's, however, was the very well made horchata. I haven't had any this good since I left California. Servers were friendly and warm.

The tacos are pretty good. I'd definitely come here again for a quick bite. I was craving Otto's Tacos for the second time, so that definitely means something.

I greatly needed reasonably priced addition to the neighborhood. Skip the masa fries -- too carb-heavy. I have met the Gorgon and slain the Gorgon, but I would bring a friend if I was going to do it again.

After having just spent a week in Mexico City having the BEST tacos, I came here today with my partner and had really good tacos, for New York. Very tasty, good corn tortillas, good carnitas! In a warm New York night, I would have preferred my Pacifico beer colder.

I'm working at the new mrs. Greens store opening up in the neighborhood and came here for my lunch break; exactly what I needed. I got a carnitas taco and everything about it was fantastic, prices very reasonable too. Definitely my new favorite spot for lunch!

Different but fantastic. Not on the menu but get the gorgon! Shrimp tacos are also great.

These tacos are some of the best in nyc and that coming from a Californian! Simple menu, cheap price, flavorful meat and great tortillas. Fast service too. We will definitely be back. They are really simple: meat, onions, one kind of salsa and cilantro.

Really good and very affordable. Every visit the staff makes me smile. Thanks Otto! I think the shrimp taco is the best....

Carne asada with masa fries and a Pacifico, please! One of the coolest and best casual taco joints in the village - give it a try!
