Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Great Venue wth Great bands! You can see all kind of World Music Artists from around the world. Cover is decent! The only thing that bothers me is the acoustics of this place which effects the sound of the band a lot.If they improve that they can be one of the top live music clubs of NYC

After our initial Valentine's day plans fell through, I bought last minute tickets to catch "The Love Show" at Drom. I'd never been here before and had never seen a burlesque show before but I didn't have too many options left so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. The place was spacious. For a burlesque show you gotta spread out the chairs a little bit so that the dancers have space when they come on to the floor. I would say there were about 80 people in attendance, with lots of standing room to spare. Thankfully it didn't smell contrary to what you may read in some of the other reviews. I do think depending on what event you're attending, this place could be a hit or miss. We'd already had dinner so we simply got an order of fries to munch on. They were cut super thick and void of any seasoning....basically they weren't good but at $7 a pop we finished the whole basket with the assistance of 2 huge ramekins of ketchup. The service in general was okay. The waitress was friendly and for the most part kept checking on us. Though I got the feeling the management here isn't too keen on organization. The show started a half hour late and there was some confusion about how people were to be seated. There is a coat check in here for $2 when you enter. I suggest you use it cuz they don't have spots inside for you to throw your coat on. The show itself was pretty good. Plenty of skin, singing and dancing all made for good entertainment. There was one girl in particular who had impressive moves and sick abs to boot. My wife and I kept staring....at her abs of course! I'm curious if the show was on par with what Drom usually brings in - if I see another interesting event here, I might just come back to satisfy my curiosity. We left right after the show and I think we got lucky with our experience. The love gods took mercy on me that night.

This is one of the best live music venues in the Lower East Side. We went here a couple weeks ago to see the monthly Church show. When I arrived there was a mixed group of people smoking out front. Some of them were going to Drom and some of them were waiting to get into the Japanese spot on the ground level. The entrance is down a flight of stairs that looks questionable, but it's no more questionable than any other divey, underground LES spots. Once you get past the hostess, the space is very impressive in comparison the entrance. It a large live music spot with high ceilings, a decent dancefloor and plenty of places to sit. You have to order food and/ or drinks if you sit at one of the tables, but I like food and drink so that's not a problem. The crowd for Church is diverse in terms of age, race and sexual orientation. The music was an inspiring mix of funky electro classical hip hop jazz. I know it sounds weird, but it worked. The audio visual system was impressive, the energy in the room was good and the overall effect of the show was very moving. Drom creates a vibe that captures New York nightlife culture at its best. I highly recommend it. Have fun. G

The 2011 NY Gypsy Festival here! A friend was having a birthday celebration here and the band playing was Montreal-based SoCalled. It is a mix of hip hop/funk/puppets/gypsy. It was high energy music and I found myself shaking my bon bon to the grooves. I had an awesome time. The venue itself is spacious and can accommodate 350 people. They book a wide variety of shows and DJ sets. I am so bummed that I just missed DJ Rekha's Bollywood Disco set. They have great artwork on the wall and the gin and tonic I had was stolid. I would love to come back and see the Tarantella gypsy show. Who doesn't love being bit by the spider?

I don't know who the people on Yelp are who like this place (as their sticker proudly proclaims on the door) are but it's certainly not me or my husband. We went this evening to see one of their events (a comedy/burlesque show that was apparently the inaugural event of the group that had it). My criticisms here will be limited to the venue vs. the performance. For one thing, my standards on such matters are much higher than that of the average person. I also believe those criticisms should be directed elsewhere. Despite this being a one star review, there were a few good things about this place: the lighting and general decor (dark & dim, which was fitting for a show themed around burlesque & "nerd comedy"). They also had a decent sized stage that seemed to be a decent space for your average band. I also noticed that when I walked in, they did have a basket of condoms available to take. A business that is cognizant of and encourages safe sex does get some points with me. I also did not encounter the truly horrendous service or treatment I read about in previous reviews, though I fully prepared for it. However.... I did not appreciate the mandatory policy of getting food if you wanted to sit at a table (which I'd been told over the phone only applied if you reserved a table). First off, there was almost NO ONE there. I understand those policies being present if paying customers are coming in & you need the space but...there simply weren't any. What the hell?!?!? Later in the show, the host even said "Hey, come sit at the tables so you can be closer to the performers." I commented to my spouse that if we weren't being extorted to sit there, then we would. We were relegated to the bar when we refused to order food there & were pressured to order. Thankfully, the bartenders did not pressure us to order drinks. Why, you might ask, did we refuse to get food there? There was no sanitation grade posted. I grew up in NC & live by the ethic that if you're not posting a sanitation grade, it means I'll be taking my life in my hands if I eat your cuisine. No, thank you! If it's not an A, I'm NOT eating there & I don't care if my purchase alone makes the difference between your going out of business that night or having enough money to pay your rent. I also HATE places that put mandatory gratuity on their menu, regardless of how many are in your party. That tells me the server is not going to give me good service & will slack off. At best, it says to me that they only consider themselves worthy of that minimum & even if they go above and beyond, there's no incentive to give them any more since they've already got 18% out of me (which is not below average by any means) just for showing up. Considering prior reviews of this place on food, service, high pricing & the lack of tap water, I had no interest in buying a piece of bread here. I would never give 18% or even 2% for the bad service I read about in previous reviews & I would dare any manager to try making me tip for bad or nonexistent service considering it's illegal to arrest or detain anyone for refusing to tip in NY state. Second, I don't feel the venue supported these performers. As the show was nearing the end and I assume a band playing later arrived, the place got louder behind us with people from this show and presumably others arriving to see the band. I saw no effort by employees to make loud talkers shut up & give those performing on stage some basic respect. As someone who knows professional performers, it really ticks me off to see people who most likely have less talent than a piece of white paper talking over stage performers others have paid good money to see. While I didn't personally experience the base service I read about, I would not return to this venue due to the questionable sanitation grade & policies designed to make the patron feel unwelcome. If I wanted to feel unwelcome, I could just go hang around some fat women with low self-esteem.

1/2 a star -- If it wasn't for the DJs everyone would have left this place. Last Saturday night: The bar was producing only ONE DRINK every 10 mins, with three people working on the bar 2 spoke English!!! I know that because the only way I got my drink -- literally 40 minutes after I started standing at the bar -- was that one of them left the bar area to get something from somewhere, I caught her and begged her for a vodka redbull, she stared in my face and was like "VODKA!? and RedBull?" I'm like yes !!! She was like okay I go make for you. 5 mins later indeed the least expected bar tender came back with it in a little plastic cup, a cup like the plane meal juice cup if you know what i mean.. its for $10! The "main" bartender was a guy in a white Tshirt and scruffy beard looked who looked like he was on some kind of drug cocktail where he would take Person A's order and then go over to the bottles for a couple of minutes, proceeds a few minutes later to go to the cash register and punches a couple of numbers in and then comes back to Person B with the wrong credit card and bill. By this time he had long forgotten about Person A's drink altogether. By midnight no one in the place had a drink in their hands. There were three layers of people around the bar trying to get a drink or close a tab and the only reason people stayed and endured this $&@! was that the men had to pay $10 at the door, ladies $5 for the DJs and that IS the only reason I was there. Then when I asked the security guy to speak to the manager? Guess who he pointed at?!!! The same drugged out clueless comical bartender. THE most AWFUL bar experience I've ever encountered. Do not go here if you are expecting to enjoy a cocktail with your music.

I am writing this to express my satisfaction for this place. Seeing a Hawaiian Slack Keys artist play here is just a great treat.
(4)Scott L.
This is a really nice venue for bands to play and I wish that the band I was there to see, Caravan of Thieves, had been given a better slot. Instead they went on at 8pm and hardly anyone was there. I was a little peeved that there wasn't anywhere to sit and watch the show unless you payed $20 at a table - not that that was difficult when the price of a Heineken is $8 with tip. I can't say anything for the food or drinks, so it would be unfair for me to give less than 3 stars. My advice - only go to this place if you're willing to throw down some cash, and only go after 10pm on weekends.

For Gypsy Fest this year, I decided to make dinner reservations in advance so that my friends and I can enjoy food and drinks during the show while sitting down. (They have a mandatory food policy at tables.) I made a reservation for a late dinner at 10pm for a show that starts at 11pm. A week later when I went back onto the event page to buy advance tickets, it turned out the show was canceled! When I had called Drom the week before, I specifically said I was going for a late dinner because of the show. When I called them to confirm whether the show was canceled, they said it was but there were tables for the show at 8pm which I gladly took. Why they didn't notify me about the cancellation is beyond me, but I didn't continue to question it when I saw how poor the service was during dinner. First off, 18% gratuity is automatically tacked onto your bill so the servers have no incentive on improving their service. Secondly, when their computers went down they stopped serving altogether. We couldn't understand why they couldn't use pen and paper until the computers came back on. Other minuses: They were out of manti but the two orders we asked for was left on our bill. It took an hour for our desserts to come out! If it wasn't for the performances (which were great, as usual), we would have left to go to any one of the hundreds of great eateries in this area. Next year, I'm just going to stand.

My friends and I came to this "gypsy bar" last Friday night to see DJ Hype. It's a small Turkish lounge in a very hipster neighborhood that serves its main purpose as a live folk music venue, which is why we found it odd that it would be hosting a drum & bass party. The ambiance and décor is dimly lit, intimate, and romantic - the exact opposite of the wild crowd that was expected to be showing up that night. But it all worked out! There was enough room for people to dance, although seating was very limited. (The couches weren't very comfortable anyway.) Mixed drinks average at around $10, but the bartenders make them strong. The sound system held its own pretty well, despite not being meant for electronic music, but the lighting effects were lacking and kind of killed the mood. There are two women's restrooms, which I really appreciated since lines can get really long later on in the night. Overall, I still had a great time, and would recommend Drom if you're looking to book a private party or event.

Staff will rob your stuff if you are not watching them. The staff picked up my jacket then took it. Played dumb when questioned. Never will return

The beef panini came with a side salad n all tasted yummy! I would of posted a picture but it didn't make it.. :( The staff was very friendly. In fact she was the one that recommended my choice. I would order it again!

This place is beyond disrespectful. I went there on Sunday to dance bought a drink left my tab opened and when I asked for water they didn't want to give me tap water, they wanted to sell me a bottle of water for $2, I said that it was illegal to deny water and he said "do you want the bottle or no", I got the water bc i didn't want to be dehydrated needless to say I closed my tab and left. Too bad bc i was having a good time and was probably going to drink a lot more. Water is free in NYC and you have to give water!!!

"WHO ELSE WANTS LIGHTER CAKE -- IN HALF THE MIXING TIME?" This is a definitely one of those quirky East Village places. And not in a good way, which is the same for a number of establishments around here. Some things don't change even as East Village has gentrified. Although for some reason, Velma's chest seems to become more pronounced over the years on Scooby-Doo. Saw an amazing artist here from Africa, with a really unique instrument. Really good, and that is the only reason this place is getting 2 stars. However, because of the incompetence at work here, only 5 other people watched this show besides me (and one of them was my date) The only redeeming characteristic about this place is the space itself. It is dark, decorative, and dramatic. It is salvageable. Unfortunately, the people here are not. The worst service. It took forever to get waited on. Terrible, unfathomably bad expensive drinks. My date ordered a recommended Cherry Bomb thingy and I ordered a dry, Tanqueray martini. Hers was sickly sweet cough syrup and mine was tangy and awful, like they had mixed sweet vermouth in a 2 to 1 ratio with the gin. If management is reading this, the bartender needs to be fired. The food was average for a club, but less than that for a restaurant. It was dropped off like laundry at our table, and never for the staff to return. The mandatory 18% gratuity is obviously needed as no none would ever tip. I can't believe that bars with this bad service and food actually exist in NYC. I would expect this bar to be in Ohio, 30 minutes outside of Cleveland. Really, really bad. I think my fellow Yelpers have been off their meds when reviewing this one. Perhaps they need to get out more.

Nice space, and saw some very good music there (and the sound was good too). However, table service was poor, food was overpriced and not very good. Wine overpriced and just OK. Our food (a simple appetizer) took 40 minutes to arrive (and there was hardly anyone there). The music was about to end and we were almost ready to leave. The bread that came with the appetizer was nothing special either. Then, the establishment put an 18% tip on my bill and charged my credit card without giving me the opportunity to decide how much tip I wanted to give, if any. Very bad practice, and a great way to irritate customers. I agree with Jia J.: Give people good food (not necessarily massive size), good wine and whatever other drinks, and fair prices, and you will draw crowds and make more. Alienate your customers with high-priced sub-par eats, and we won't come back.
(2)Christa N.
Went to Drom for a Cuban band and though the band was amazing ... Drom is lacking. There was supposed to be a buffet served but there was not much variety for the food. There were too many tables which really blocked the ability to get out their and dance which seemed to be confusing for what the point of the place should be. Finally one of the staff was SOOOO drunk that it was upsetting. He walked around the floor and ran into everyone in the process. For a straight show, this place could be good place to go (though over priced) but if you have any desire to move a bit, this is not the place to be.

Holy out of place, Batman! The story of how I ended up here is pretty simple; Aaron P. got a singing gig backing up a UK rapper named Jamieson. He continued telling me details, but for all of you that know me, he already had me at "UK." I'm a fan of the east village, and the alphabets in particular because you often run into random places like this. It's both modern and kind of janky inside, sort of like a smaller low-rent version of Joe's Pub (the closest place I can compare it to). To sit down, they give you the "food" or the "2 drink minimum" speech, but our waiter never came back to me after getting my first beer. When we asked him about it, he was like, "I don't even care. They make me say that." He was awesome. Scott B. was my partner in crime for this. If I was out of place, he was from Neptune. Watching Scott try and decipher rap lyrics in his head is the most amusing thing I've seen in a long time. I can say that we sat at the tables in front of the bar, but everyone stands right in front of the stage, so the seating here is a little questionable. If you have the option, the area all the way in the back (stage left, if you prefer) would be ideal to see a show, since people can't stand in your vantage point. Scott got a panini (he hadn't eaten all day guys. Let him be a fatty in peace!) that he said was really good. Drinks here are expensive for the east village, and seeing a show here means there was probably a cover. Jamieson was a perfectly adequate rapper, but opening act Shareen Amour ( shareenamour.com ) stole the show for me. You know the shit got real when here backup dancers suddenly seemed to appear out of nowhere. I had a really got time here. Recommended.

Went there for a party on Saturday and I was not impressed at all by the bar staff. I go bottle service and was suppose to get a table, but the staff nor the manager found me one. Then when I asked to speak to the manager she ignored me. I have never in my life asked for my money back but I sure did that night. I was told they couldn't refund me my money which made no sense at all. After an hour of standing at the bar waiting for something to happen a table was found for me. The place is small, the venue is mediocre, and the bar staff needs better customer service. If your people aren't prepared to handle big crowds then don't have big events there.
(2)Mark D.
This place really is awesome. I think my last review was based on the price alone and I gave it three stars but the place is really cool and the staff is really nice. The vibe is great, the venue is beautiful and the food is supposedly pretty good. If you haven't been there, I'd recommend it
(4)Tellit B.
I went there yesterday for the first time. The music was great. But I doubt I'll ever go back. IF I GO BACK, I'LL SIT AT THE BAR. THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE. Absolutely no effort what so ever. The menu is limited. Fodd was not fresh and Overpriced. I had chicken wings , The were frozen, not fresh. Don't eat here .
(2)George C.
This venue hosts some very interesting bands and I've been going for 2-3 years every couple of months. However, as all my friends also notice, you shouldn't have a drink there - They're bombs and they will give you a headache for days. Ever 2 drinks will do it. I keep forgetting and paying for it the next days, almost every time I go.
(2)Tom T.
Ok, upon walking in I saw a "They Love us on Yelp" sticker on the door. Well, Drom, I HATE you on Yelp. Upon walking in, you are confronted with a small lounge with some cool couches in it, and one side of the bar. I liked the look of the place, but hey, don't judge a book by its cover. The main room has a tiny, instrument cluttered stage, the other side of the bar, a small lounge-y area up two or three steps, and some regular tables on the floor. If you're not willing to pony up some cash for the sanitation grade-less food, get used to standing or sitting at the bar. Even when the place is partly empty. Next we have the men's room. Just because your club has darkened lighting doesn't mean the bathroom should too. And the underlit, black painted closet-like toilet stall looks like a good place to be raped. Seriously, I expected some toothless rednecks to push me in and have their way with me. Also, if you're a performer at Drom, expect no respect. The next act was coming in as the one we went to see was ending, and they talked over him. Did the staff or waiters say anything? Nope! Bottom line: NEVER GO HERE.
(1)Jason G.
Came here for the Red Elvises. This is definitely one of the best venues in New York. No, you can't see your obscure hipster bands here. And that's a good thing.
(5)Justin P.
Me: what's that Efes beer all about? Hot eastern block bartender: it's Dutch. Me: why not, I'll try one HEBB: hands me beer, $10 Me: Kool here u go. HEBB: (in strong accent) I have to tell you that in five minutes Heinekens will be free for an hour. Me (thoughts): awesome but I could've used this information BEFORE taking advantage of $10 beer night. But she's one of my peeps so we're straight. Drom was a dope little club with great system and underground club vibe, oh yeah and a wildly mismatched lineup for CMJ. Think: Johnny cash meets br549, followed by an awesome acidy jaZzy rocky instrumental out there band called delicate steve, capped off with a pudgy puerto rican chick in an ill-fitting leather bikini covering 90s hip hop with all the talent of your average bowling alley karaoke patron. I heart ny

Good sound esp for East Village. Great staff and always enjoy myself there. I like how they are working on improving the space all the time and how diverse the acts are too.
(5)Maly A.
Came here last Saturday to see a performance, cool ambiance. Food & service pretty good.

I thought DROM was pretty impressive just based on the event that I attended here. It was one of the QUE BAJO? parties, Uproot Andy and GEKO JONES, Djing. I had a great time with a great crowd of people that liked to dance. I got there around midnight on the friday and left around 3:35 or 3:40 it was just starting to clear out. Lots of room on the dancefloor but right after 12, yeah alot of people were feeling the dancefloor. Not alot of room for most folks until later. There were some very cute colombian women here, very impressive. All shapes and sizes to dance with, haha. I will definitely be back here for one of the QUE BAJO? parties. Location is not that hard to get to, 85 Avenue A. Drinks here were pretty pricey so I pre-gamed somewhere else. I think it was $7 just for a Bud lite bottle. Other BEERS like Heineken Light were $9, I believe. I got Vodka and Cranberry with alot of Vodka anda splash of cranberry for $3 at the place I went to.
(4)Ramon B.
Saw High Contrast here. The place is sooo nice man. It's really dark with really dim lights. Pretty. But because of this, it made an uncomfortable feel of the show that I was getting ready to attend. I'm bout to listen to some raw dnb, and we got people walking around with wine glasses and shit. A lot of the turnout didn't quite look like they fit the event. Prices were expensive then most. BUT they definitely made it up by using much more liquor. I don't want to say that this place is small, but it felt cramped. I praise the drum & bass gods for allowing me to attend this event. I'd come back
(4)Elanor S.
Plus: great space, solid sound system, good cocktails. Minus: auto-grat, no tap water, mediocre food.
(3)Gwen A.
Live performances are great. The food needs to be improved.

Cool Turkish lounge in the East Village. A bit hidden from the street, you need to descend the stairs to get to the action. Inside is dark and slightly sexy, with couches and tables along the sides. The back room has a fabulous high ceiling, gloriously long bar on the right, and plenty of room for mingling and dancing. If you come here when it is busy, you'll probably have to wait a while to get drink service (they seem a little short-staffed under some circumstances). Unless you encounter my luck and can speak Turkish, and consequently make friends with the Turkish workers. I had enjoyed enough mixed drinks to feel confident busting out my oft-unpracticed second language on Hakan, the GM, who kindly engaged me in conversation. Result? Free shots of that famed, cloudy RAKI (Turkish liquor - licorice tasting danger drink). There are cool events here on weekends, with different varieties of musicians performing/being showcased. Some appear to need a special invite, so, practice your "merhaba" and make friends with the workers.
(3)Leonor W.
Came here for a BOMBA party a few weeks ago. The venue was great, it has a big stage, a private separate area, a big dance floor and a relatively big bar. Drinks were cheap, around $8, but I assume this was because the party organizers had come to an agreement with the venue. Biggest drawback of this DROM was the fact that they had no a/c, there were probably around 250 people crammed in there and it was literally a sauna, really managed to make the night very unpleasant.
(3)monica m.
Not a bad little spot for drinks and appetizers and heard Carlos Nunez (piper) there. The drinks were good but the appetizers were just okay - I was ok with it would recommend for drinks and music.
(3)Larisa T.
The pros: --Really cool, artsy vibe. There seem to be a lot of regulars. --Kind of a change of pace from the normal night out --The jazz band that played was really good The cons: --Came here for a burlesque show. The show was just meh. --The drinks are really expensive --If you get cheaper tickets, which we did, you have to stand the whole time.
(3)Timothy L.
Went here for a Turkish dinner/dancing show last week. Had some okay food and some drinks. The place was pretty full, but there were only a few on the wait staff and one bar tender, so it took quite a while to get drinks and food to people after they opened up. We had a table with an okay view of the stage, but since we were a bit back in a corner, it took quite a while for us to get any drinks at all. The show was enjoyable, but I think they really should have had a few more people working there. At $7 a beer and $13-14 a cocktail, I'm sure they can afford to pay a few more staff to avoid some of the audience going thirsty. That said, the waitress who did wait on us was nice even though she had to serve way too many tables at once. Probably won't go back here unless there's some show I really want to see. If I could find the show on Yelp, I would give 4 stars, but unfortunately I can't. This review is only for the venue.
(2)Laura B.
I went to Drom the weekend before Valentine's Day and I have to admit that it was the worst decision I ever made. The food was horrible not to mention that their menu is one page long. On top of that the drinks are over priced and the seats are so close to each other that you can barely move. In terms service... I can't even talk about that. The staff was rude, rushing from customer to customer. Sure they are not going to give you the time of the day, because the tips are included in the charge, so they have nothing to worry about. I would not recommend this place!!!!
(1)Isaac J.
I dig this place. When you walk into the venue you'r be surprised at how large the place is below. I've been here a few and the drink are cool... a little pricey bt they do the trick and get the buzz going. I've seen a few shows and it a great venue because it's so small, but one word of advice, be sure to check if they're requiring people to reserve seats for the shows ahead of time.

Came here a year ago for a random night out and actually had my most memorable nightlife experience of 2010. The live performance was by a group of Latin musicians and consisted of singers, bass, guitars and bongo drums - have been trying to find the name of it since and no body I went with that night remembered because it was such a random decision to go there...but I just walked by and immediately recognized the exterior and couldn't help but walk in. I'm happy I did and now I can finally come back...oh yea - and they have super cool artwork all over the walls too. Yay! ;)

Okay so not sure why I didn't think to review before, but truth is ...totally forgot about yelp. Been to plenty of venues and have to say I enjoy Drom every time I go...I'm usually there the last Saturday of each month since last June with Soul Factory Presents with the exception of this month with Bobby Valentino show last wknd. I've ordered a few things but am in love love love with the fried calamari and fries...with my white wine. The staff is so great and very attentive...oh and the sound is impeccable compared to most places in the city!!! Highline, Soul Village, SOB's etc need to watch out for their competition, especially when it comes to the SOUL FACTORY PRESENTS shows...You Go Drom!!!

Interesting and talented acts, but the blonde bartenders couldn't be less interested in working. Don't expect to get a drink in any timely manner.

I will ABSOLUTELY NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. My friends will ABSOLUTELY NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. I LOVE LIVE MUSIC, FOLLOW MANY MUSICIANS IN NYC,HAVE FRIENDS WHO GO TO SEE MUSIC ALL OF THE TIME AND I WILL TELL THEM TO NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. THE STAFF IS RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, BELLIGERENT! We bought tickets for a performance, reserved a table and spent over $200 on drinks/food. Then we were assaulted by the more menacing members of the staff and told to leave the minute that the band finished (right after the bar allowed us to purchase $60 more in beer/wine). The "bouncer" was just shy of battery with my group of girlfriends and told us to put the drinks down and leave immediately or he "would become physical". Not a single one of my girlfriends were inebriated or bothering anyone. He also made comments how we should "LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH"!!!!. I am an American, born & raised. My girlfriends are all AMERICAN CITIZENS AND FLUENT ENGLISH SPEAKERS. I could not believe that any representative of a food establishment in NYC would say such a thing!. That staff member ruined our previously lovely evening of great music and forced good, paying customers to leave with a HORRIBLE impression of this once pleasant venue. Only go to this venue if you are a Sadist and like abuse. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

I will never go here again: 1. 18% gratuity is included, even for individuals. This is a growing trend among new self-aggrandizing bars, and as a native New Yorker I find it insulting. These places prefer to mandate a tip rather than cultivate a loyal customer base or ensure quality service. Not worth it. 2. The waitress did not bring my change, and as we got up to leave and I looked around for her assuming she had simply been busy and would be looking for me before I left, I saw her standing aside and watching the show! I had to go over to her myself to get it, and she made no apology. This must be standard practice. 3. The mic was not working for one performer, and the sound guy didn't fix it or switch mics even after the performer pointed it out. A classless place all around.

I have done repeats at this place with "Cumbiana" a group that understands the true music of the "African Disporia". The food and beer is great along with the service. This is definantly a place for World music. Seating is limited and standing is required, after all seating is covered.

I have been to Drom several times, seeing shows ranging from Hard Rock bands, Gypsy punk, to a spectacular Belly dance show. What I love about this place is that it captures the essence of what NYC is all about - diversity. In the heart of the East Village, it has a certain gritty charm that draws you in. For an underground club, it's pretty spacious with room to sit or stand. The sound is amazing and even the stage lights are awesome. Being a vegetarian I love the Turkish tapas here. It's the real deal. Delicious hummus, grape leaves, babaganoush. Not like the crap you would get at most places in the area. A friend turned me onto this place a few years ago and now I've introduced other friends here as well. It's a great location to hang with friends and do something interesting. And in my experience the staff has always been very courteous, even when they're extremely busy. I would definitely recommend anyone to come here.
(5)Sam H.
Excellent Live music and good food and drink! my favorite place.
(5)Rachel H.
1) I don't speak/understand Turkish 2) This is a Turkish bar/lounge that often has live Turkish music 3) The band was absolutely AMAZING even though I couldn't understand any of the words (since I don't speak Turkish) I'm also pretty sure I was the only person in there who wasn't singing along but the band was absolutely AMAZING. This place has a laid back atmosphere with AWESOME decorations. I forget what they were called but I had two AMAZING drinks...... one was some blue concoction served in a champagne glass, and the other was some mixed drink that had brandy and pineapple juice........ yummmmyyy. I'd def like to go back here again

Went there for NYE 2011. Had a horrible experience. completely ruined my NYE. We bought tickets in advance for $35 each, thinking that they'll pack reasonable amount of people in there. Turned out it was way over-packed. The music sucked even more. The sound system broke several times during the night. Most people did not stay past 12a.m. We were promised a champaign toast and snacks with the $35 ticket. Did not get any. Will never go there again.

Interesting spot. I don't quite know what to make of Drom. Really big space made it refreshingly not packed late on a Sat night. I like that, esp considering I'd just come from Cain, where 20-something B&Ters who obviously missed the concept of deodorant kept running into me. I also like the decor inside - great lighting, nice and airy, good atmosphere. Decent music, too - a mix between old and new school hip hop with some randomness thrown in. And yet given all this, I still wasn't impressed at all. In fact, I'd prob never go back. Maybe it was the crowd. This place is heavy on the Desi's. Not quite my scene.
(3)Brian L.
Super rude wait staff. I cannot believe that I have paid $40+ dollar for two to be treated like s**t. I was there with my wife to see a show, while working as show staff. One waiter, who barely speaks English, told us that he would not serve us. Even though I was working, I was STILL a costumer and I do order from the menu. Hello. Say nasty things to others will not bring more business no matter how good the food is. Unfortunately the food was not even good. In conclusion, nothings good to say about this restaurant. Sorry, I have tried.
(1)Michaela D.
The space was great. The DJs were great (worth the $5 cover). The crowd was classy. The bar was a mess. The bar staff and management should be embarrassed by the service - it certainly kept us from returning for another round and caused us to leave earlier than we otherwise would have. I'd give Drom a second chance, but I'm wary.
(3)Eat It B.
This place is awful! Nice enough space, but incompetent waitstaff (despite repeated requests for items, they never showed up) and a ridiculous, criminal policy of automatically adding 18% tip to your check, no matter how small your party. My burger was no better than a McDonald's puck of who knows what material and tasted terrible. They don't serve tap water either, so be prepared to shell out $3-5 for a bottle of water. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
(1)Jennifer A.
Saw a band here awhile back. Sound was okay. Bar was pretty nice but there was a long wait for service that night... Great show but expensive drinks and immediately after the band finished, they put the lights on and started chasing everyone out without allowing an encore. On the way out I realized that it was because they had a line outside that went around the block for the late night Turkish dance club it turns into. Didn't appreciate being chased out so early.
(2)Gennadiy B.
This is a very cozy venue to see small bands, nothing that requires a mosh-pit. Plenty of tables with clear view of the stage, additional seating in a lounge-style area plus along the bar, clean and spacious bathrooms - Drom is recently renovated and it shows. Wine is $8/glass, fruit platter ($12) is very generous, has peach and pear slices, veggie panini ($10) was enormous. Odd practice of adding 18% tip to the bill for 2, but I didn't let that bother me.
(4)Hanna H.
I went there for the first time mainly to see "Ibrahim Maalouf" and his band , music as expected was amazing ! and I liked the vibe and atmosphere of the place. nice setting and lighting.Crowd and staff were pleasant. But please do work on your beer list: are you serious? This is the East Village! we are spoiled with excellent beer all around! buzz me when you add craft IPAs and Belgian beer so I will come more often.

Drom is the place that you can enjoy World Music, good food and drink with right price. Fridays are big fun with Greek and Turkish Music, it's my favorite. I love their eggplant salad and calamari

Cool place. Must visit.

- Went to Drom for a Chebb I Sabbah performance. It was good. - It was packed and the circulation could have been better. - Decor was nice. - Crowd was good, however this was a very specific event, don't know the regular crowd there. - I had a great time.
(4)Carl C.
Stopped in here for the Gypsy Music Festival and had a good time. The turkish staff were affable and put on a great show. Haven't tried the food but I like the space.
(4)Cherepaha B.
Drom is a fairly specific space, but anyone can warm up to it. It serves great Turkish tapas and has a lovely Turkish wine list. But its primary aim is to showcase live music with an ethnic identity. On any night, you can hear a fantastic local (or touring) band playing Turkish, Greek, Russian Gypsy, and other contemporary blends of folklore and the new world. It's one of the very few outposts for this in Manhattan, perhaps in all of New York. Come for the wine, stay for the music; and vice versa. I really do enjoy it a lot.
(5)Megan K.
12 of us from philly rolled up to this place to see a friend of ours perform. it is dark and sexy. the stage is hot. and the service was great. they had a vip area. that stayed empty, we tried to take it. but they had rules that did'nt suit us. so no one used it. the prices are philly prices. not nyc. i had kettle on the rocks $12. same as center city. the sound was great and chesney snow and eternia were AMAZING! we had the best time in this spot. the crowd was super eclectic. people loving good music. other then the vip thing. we had a flawless time.
(5)Erin W.
If you want to go to a place that is understaffed, charges $5 for a diet coke, doesn't stock enough red wine on a Saturday night (not kidding - THEY RAN OUT - and as a tablemate and I had only one glass each, I swear I wasn't the culprit!), and makes you wait well over an hour for less than mediocre food, then go for it. One of the people at my table said he has had excellent food there in the past, but last night was so ridiculously terrible that I doubt even he will be back. There are too many great places in NYC to waste your time and money here (not to mention sending your good mood spiraling into a foul, violent place).
(1)sa f.
what a RUDE, rude, rude bartender! we rented the place and filled it up and she complained about people asking for glasses of water because she was saving glasses for "paying customers." if i weren't with friends, i would have walked. as it is, i opened a new account on yelp to make note of the "recessionary customer service." i hope the word gets out!
(1)Chelsea J.
Just came to see my friends accapella group. Great service, i had the special Grapefruit beer only $6!!!! Watch out theres a minimum if you sit at the tables

The band gets 5 stars, they were amazing. This review's for the actual venue. Located in the LES with plenty of street parking, which was great. One star for that. Also tickets were only $10. Woot. However, the show didn't began at 9 pm and they made everyone wait outside, which was sort of a mess. The security guard was super nice however. That's where they get another star from. The problem with the wait also is that it bleeds into the wait of those waiting for the sushi restaurant right on top of DROM. They took those who bought tickets already and were supposed to be waiting at "will call". What happened was someone with a printed out list went through and checked each person into the concert one-by-one, which took a while. Then we ended up waiting outside until 9:30 pm so doors weren't open until then. My one friend was told over the phone a few months ago, she had a table. Yet when we called to change the reservation, we were told tables were first come, first serve. When the waitress came out to let people in, it was completely disorganized. We were up front and center but she put some "friends" in front of us, who proceeded to let OTHERS jump in front of us. The waitress / hostess told us that it's no longer 2 item minimum for tables but instead 3 item minimum. So ...she made that new rule right then and there out of no where. Then she was very rude about how it better be alcohol or food because each person required a $10 minimum to sit down. Okay, maybe this should be organized neatly and informed to everyone prior?! My friends walked away and when I turned to ask them if they definitely wanted a table or not, the hostess snapped at me like I was wasting her time. So frack that, we opted to not get a table. The place packed up quickly. The bar's on the other end from the concert stage. There is really no sitting area unless you are far from the stage with not much of a view of the band. Beers start at $7. Pretty standard list. The bottle water I paid for was only a little colder than room temperature, which pissed me off a bit. Grr. The crowd itself was alright. Some dbags here and there. There was definitely some illegal drug activity in the crowd, which was a bit annoying. Thankfully, the band was out of this world and I had fun watching them (even if they came on stage 50 minutes later than they were scheduled to perform).

I wish I could divide the stars because the performance and the food are on two ends of the bar. I took the mom and grams to Drom for a Latin Jazz band in celebration of mother's day. The music was amazing! they both enjoyed the show. The hostess was very nice! Now the food. We ordered the wings (thai), fish and chips, cheeseburger, and eggplant balls. We ended with the warm date cake. -The cake was the favorite. The warmth and toffee complemented each other perfectly. -The eggplant was interesting. The balls were great but needed a sauce that could do them justice. The one it came with was very underwhelming. -The burger was ok, my nephew at it but the cheese was crazy drippy. It dripped enough to upset him because 8 year olds need their cheese to have a backbone. - Fish and chips were crazy bland. -The wings. Man the wings. Those were a mistake. I ordered thai because when I see thai I think sweet chili, sesame, coconut... I do not think hot sauce. These were so hot, they were inedible. I took a bite of one and couldn't eat it. They tried a piece from the same wing, and none of us could tolerate it. So we left 11 of the 12 in the basket. Our waitress didn't come by to check if everything was ok until we had finished the other dishes, and the busboys had cleared tee table. They left the 11 wings behind. When she stopped by we had been in need of refills for about 20 minutes. When she asked how everything was I mentioned that we couldn't eat the wings because they were too spicy, she said they are thai. I looked at her as if a black hole was forming and swallowing up her answer. I asked her for the dessert menu and pointed out the need for refills. Dessert came, it was amazing. We got our bill, which included an 18% gratuity and the wings. Personally I'm not a fan of gratuity EVER being included for small groups. Paid and we were on our way. In conclusion! Jesus this is one of the longest reviews I have ever written. I would recommend this spot for the music, not the food or service.

Great music venue! I loved the acoustics but the sound tech was not on top of his game. He seemed to be visibly shaken and just totally out of it. He planted his face into his hands many times during the bands that I listened to.!! Lol! Maybe he had a rough night... Oh wait...It's 7pm..... Great service from the staff!!
(4)Jessica T.
Drom is AMAZING! I work for a local nonprofit and we had a kickoff event there. The staff was so nice and accommodating, especially the bar manager. They always communicated with us if there was an issue with guests, and we were able to communicate with them when there was a problem with the venue. I was in charge of the sound and tech (we were screening short films and had a slideshow playing) and the sound guy was really totally awesome. I'm not the brightest when it comes to dealing with technology, but he sat with me, explained everything and was very patient with me. As for the venue itself, it's a great spot if you're planning a party/event. The space is a hidden gem. Decor is on point! They have a checkin/reception area in the front and you can create a "VIP" section in the back towards the stage. They have tables and chairs that you can move around however you please. The stage area is cool. Great for live performances or a DJ set. They also have a projector where you can have a running slideshow. Price is reasonable. In all, all of the people who came out had a great time. If you're thinking of renting out a space for a party or event, this is a great spot. It's got a funky cool vibe and is located in one of the best NYC nightlife areas.

What do you Mean you RAN OUT OF PLATANOS???? Ok so let me set the scene. I will preface this by saying that the band was amazing and that is the only reason why I gave the venue 2 stars instead of none at all (if that were possible). I went here last Friday night to see Cuban Jazz with Cuban Pianist Jorge Luis Pacheco with guest star Jose "Pepito" Gomez around 8:30pm. This venue is in a basement in Alphabet City and really gave you the old "LES Dirty feel" of seeing live music in NYC (in a good way). We went downstairs and got seated in the WORST place ever!!! I mean, I could see the band if I could see through the huge support beam in front of my face. Not to worry (sarcasm), the mirror behind the bar served nicely to let me see the band through its reflection. Plus I guess they were trying to save some money on the air so they left the door open...... FREEZE...... ummmm thanks.... Logistics! This is a huge component of any venue. Who thought it would be a good idea to have staff running around in between the support beam and my table to and from the kitchen? Queue the scene of bus boys running by me with huge buckets of dirty dishes over my head.... Not Cute. Also venue......tell your staff to stop knocking into the tables and chairs........ I counted 4 table spills (thankfully not mine) and at least 12 people annoyed. Also train your staff! 9 people coming to my table trying to take away my half consumed club soda so that my friend has to purchase another one, not ok. Now to the worst part. The ticket purchased said "Latin Dinner includes Rice & Beans, Roasted Chicken, and Sweet Plantains". When we got our food and while it was a pretty ample portion we noticed something shocking.......... there were no plantanos... Weird right? So I asked the server it they would be served separately. He seemed to stumble over his English so I switched and asked him in my Colombian Spanish. Immediately he told me that we were not going to be getting any. Ummmm........ why? He told me that the earlier show ate them all but that he could give me salad. What do you mean you RAN OUT OF PLATANOS???? Ok. Couple of things wrong here. #1). I'm Colombian, don't promise me platanos and then don't deliver. That is the best part of the meal. Plus, you waited until I NOTICED a 1/3 of my promised meal was missing and I asked before you said anything? #2). Are you kidding me? The show was pre-purchased, you are telling me that management can't count how many dinners were ordered for the earlier performance and the 8pm and compensate accordingly? #3). If you are going to skip on the best part of the meal ensure the rest of it is good. The chicken was dry and disappointing and the rice and beans were ok. Now the MUSIC! That was truly great. Guest star Jose "Pepito" Gomez was really wonderful to listen to and the rest of the band played beautifully! We had a great time listening to the performance. Even in a bad venue, the company is what really makes the night!
(2)Chris C.
I went here last night and overall we had a good time (the show we watched was fantastic). The location is decent, the decor and overall set up is great, bathroom (men's at least) was clean, there's a decent view of the stage from pretty much anywhere you sit or stand. I just wish I had read the Yelp reviews regarding the food, it was terrible! We ordered a small Panini, which took 45 minutes to arrive and tasted awful. I know this is more of an entertainment/ bar place than restaurant, but if you offer food then do it right or don't do it at all! Do yourself a huge favor and eat before you arrive!
(3)Tony R.
Came here for a cuban salsa night. The music was great, but the venue was very meh... We bought tickets online that came with a set meal....The food was supposed to be Cuban, which granted it was, but it was the most basic thing they could get away with. It was mediocre version of "moms" cooking. It's so disappointing. The service was good, and they are pretty good about accommodating guests special requests as long as you email before hand. I would come back only for events, and never the food.
(3)Elizabeth F.
I ordered an online ticket for a dance performance last Friday with an 8 pm start date listed. Instead of being able to sit down at the empty tables, the crowd had to wait for an hour standing up behind a barrier in a small, cramped lobby. There were several older age 60+ people in attendance who I'm sure were not expecting to have to stand for an hour. No one made an announcent about what was going on. The waitstaff moved about on the other side of the barrier in a lackadaisical, unhurried way. At 9 pm I still had not been able to get a place at a table, I grew tired of waiting and left.

I was at Drom on a busy Sat.nite (two weeks ago) with friends for Paul Carlon and had a really great time. Music was great, service was pleasant and food was yummy. Having read the reviews, I was not sure to eat there. But one of my friends, an alphabet district bar hopper; said the menu and the quality of food has totally changed, so we took the chance. We were a table of 8 and we tasted almost everything. Fried Seshito Peppers, Eggplant Balls, cheese fondue were prefect for nibbling. We also had Cheese Platter and mediteraanean tapas combo platters. Great for sharing! My special friend had Tri-tip steak cubes and I tasted from her plate, yummy! Well, I have to admit nice vine selection was surprisingly long for and alphabet district under the ground music venue. We went through couple of reds and whites (ladies did). Favorites are Rioja and Cabernet. White was Cab.Sav. Sorry don't remember the brands. Benefit of good wine.lol. I am not an easy to please person, a food critic and a self proclaimed cook myself. And I hardly grant five stars. But I felt like this place is underrated so here goes my fling stars.lol. I do value Yelp reviews, however in Drom's case, I don't understand what's with some people. They say they like the venue and music was great then rate it 3 stars!!! I was kind of icky going there after reading your reviews man. Then having spent a truly fun night partying with may friends, I have to be honest; some of you are a bit cruel! Well, after our fun night, we are planning to go to Mardi Gras Party on New Year's eve. Can't miss a jazzy, funky New Orleans theme party in NYC, especially on New Year's Eve ;) PS. I know, I am out of line with my 5 star rating when compared to others and YELP does block such reviews and ratings sometimes. Never blocked before. Its my honest opinion, SO BE IT!
(5)Amelia M.
First time trying out my bhangra moves at Bollywood Disco night. I have to say I find the music and beat so engaging that you can't help but want to dance the night away, which my friend and I did.

Different live music daily and various DJs and parties. DROM is a very cool place to visit especially if you know who you are going to listen to. The place is pretty big (about 400 capacity) but the layout divided so even when live concert is going on you can step aside to the couches and have a conversation. Drinks are average in price (Jameson $10). Tall ceilings, ok interior design. It gets 4 stars vs 5 because of the sound system which is long overdue for an upgrade. It is not bad, but definitely with the amount if artists playing here often I heard more Han once that the sound is not the best (speaker position, sound station etc). In any event - definitely a good place to visit and listen to music from all over.
(4)La B.
Attended the Shades of Burlesque show which was amazing! There was a 2 drink or 2 food order minimum to sit at the tables in front of/near the stage. We ordered 2 brownies with ice cream. The portions are very small, for $6 it was a disappointment. They use chocolate syrup vs. hot fudge if that is important to you, it is to me sometimes, but it met our 2 item minimum. Staff was cordial and did not try to over sell us. After the show they quickly started to clean up and remove tables and chairs, keep in mind this is not to rush you out but to prep for the next show. The stage is at an angle facing toward the bar. There are cushioned seats on the right hand side, sort of like couches and tables/chairs to the left. The location is NOT wheelchair accessible. You must walk down a series of stairs and walk up them to leave. Once inside the location is free of any stairs or obstructions to enter.

Pass this place by. It is absolutely not worth anybody's time. I have to mention before I get into my story that it was raining alot, when I got to the bottom of the stairs I was met by a tile floor, I slipped but thank God did not fall, the owners of this place didnt even have the wherewith all to put a slip resistant mat on the tile floor. (This kind of lets you know where the rest of my story is going). There were two good bands scheduled, their sets seemed to be rushed to fit in a third unscheduled band, the third band was not good entertainment at all, where this third band came from is beyond me, one guy was playing an accordion, nuff said. The drinks are way over priced, two drinks cost me 25.00, thats crazy, the owners must think they are located in the diamond district, its a dive. The end all for me was after the two good bands played, Drom decided to put about ten tables out for the bad bands onlookers, which weren't many,, oh yes sorry I forgot to mention, throughout the first two performances most of the onlookers had to stand up, WHY??? I will never, let me repeat never patronize this poorly managed spot again. STAY AWAY!!! There are too many good spots in New York to go to other then wasting your time and money coming here. I didnt try the food, it probably sucked anyway. How the heck do you have a food menu and no place for your customers to set down and eat it? THIS PLACE SUCKS.................
(1)Armando T.
Went to see a belly dancing show here with the wife.. The show was great!, the food was not. We used a "show and dinner" ticket. The food we received was cold and almost tasteless. In all fairness, its an entertainment club/bar more than it is a restaurant and the entertainment aspect of the experience was quite good. If you are looking to enjoy a show and a few drinks, this is a great place to go....just make sure you eat before you get there.
(3)Corey S.
If I could give a 0 I would... I went here to see one of my friends band that was playing and my girlfriend and I wanted to eat while we listen to the band... Well that wasn't a good idea I order fish and chips and my girl order chicken wings... FROZEN fish???!!!! Who does that??! Hard as a rock and I return it right back to the freezer... drinks were ok but when we got our bill a auto tip was added for a party of 2.. I them called over the manager or owner and the reason she gave me the tip was added was because they have a lot of foreigners that don't know how to tip.... Really??? Really?? You will never see or hear from me again ... But you might here from a lawyer... Please stay away if you are a foreigner...

DROM is an excellent destination for good music in a warm atmosphere. The tables are not right on top of each other, and every table has a good view of the stage. There is one section of long tables on a dais a few steps up from the floor against one wall which provides banquettes on wine side at the cost of only low stools on the other. One note: The restrooms are rather awkward, at least the men's room is. There is no lock on the door, as it is also a pass-through for staff to reach some "employees only" area behind it.. Not cool, really. I can not speak to the food, but the drinks are serviceable. The wait staff are perhaps not the most eager, but they are competent. It was obvious, however, that tables ordering only drinks received significantly less attention that those ordering food. This was not so large an issue, though, once the music started.
(3)john d.
Nice vibe, reasonable prices. The lamb sausage panini was excellent. Really good sound system and eclectic music venue. The service is pleasant but very disorganized. I almost walked out in frustration trying to pay my tab so I could leave!
(4)Roy P.
So a great show for CMJ. Really good sound. A-OK for music.
(3)Nan C.
So, there is an ATM located within the venue and there's $2 fee for coat check. There's one, somewhat small, unisex bathroom on the main level (I don't know if there were others, maybe I missed 'em). The venue staff is super friendly. I didn't have to wait long to get a bartender's attention. I visited DROM for a private event and also for the Prince / Michael Jackson Experience.Take my advice; eat before you go. I was not impressed with the food. That pork belly app was not palate-pleasing.
(3)Norma S.
This spot is a great find. Clean, trendy, you can stand or take a seat in a nice lounge area. You need to check the artist due to the neighborhood you get a variety of performers. From the street level you walk down to the basement level to find an amazing open area. Again due to the area you also do get very different types of people. You are NOT in the West village/Meat packing district so keep in mind there is a BIG difference in the people you will mingle with here. If you are up for a night of variety this is the place.
(4)Jia J.
Not unlike the Highline Ballroom, DROM is a dark, high-ceilinged place with multi-level seating to ensure a good view of the stage...in exchange for the crap food and blah drinks that they force you to buy, which is a TURN OFF no matter how awesome the event is that you're supporting that night. Again, I really believe establishments would double their revenue by simply presenting better offerings. The space is more intimate than the Highline Ballroom, though; like an eighth of the size. The pocket of elevated seating at the side of the stage is the way to go if you can beat the crowd there, but prepare for a bit of a neck ache from constantly turning to the side. If you can, turn your whole body to face the stage, not just your head. Saving grace here is perhaps the service. Quite friendly and not as desperately pushy as that of other forced minimum spots. I ended up drinking two bud lights for like twenty bucks (exaggerating only a bit) because it was the most economical way to fulfill my obligations to the establishment. By the way, my poor mom (who accompanied me to the show) left her really expensive prescription eyeglasses there...I don't fault the staff for not finding them, but DO find it inappropriate that they never ever ever answered her phonecalls. Even worse, when I called them mid day to try to help Mom out, they DID answer, and knew all about her messages! Girl on the phone said, "Oh, that woman who kept calling....yeah, we know about her." It's like (a) that "woman" is my mother, and you can call her Mrs. Jung, (b) if you answered just one of her fucking calls or the one message she left, she wouldn't have kept calling, and (c) if there's a small storytelling event with a small and trustworthy audience and a woman leaves her glasses there, how is it that those glasses of a particular prescription go missing by the next morning? They weren't even fashionable to the type of clientele who frequent this area of the city, so I doubt that they were stolen. I feel like the glasses are still on site, but DROM just hasn't gotten it together to do an earnest search. I'd go bust in there and rifle around myself, but...I don't want to go there again! Just like every other dank, underground (but not UNDERGROUND) bar along Aves A,B, and C, this is another spot that can wait to be visited.

Most awkward space for a music venue. There is something about the setup of the place that is not conducive to seeing the performers. I think it's the huge columns that are in the middle of the room that blocks the view of the stage and breaks up the floor space in such a way that the whole venue does not feel cohesive. Whatever it is, this is one of my least favorite venues in the city.

I came here for an early show on a Friday, there was an event later which is never a good sign. While the show was going on everything was great, decent drink not stupid expensive (at least not for a club) door and bar staff were very nice. The space is really cute and the sound is great Then the show ended. I understand you need to set up tables in the middle of the floor but I honestly felt like I was being chased by the people setting up, no matter where I moved or stood in the room it was in a place they need to put a chair. Did you want to buy band merch? TOO BAD because the entire area is now blocked off by these tables. ::sigh:: one day we will all learn, the early folks are NEVER treated well, not here not anywhere

We went on a Groupon for Pepito Gomez's 2nd show on Sat. Feb. 15. It's a beautiful space and all the tables have a great view of the stage. We were seated by the side wall which works out a little better as it's a little less loud. The sound was great you could hear every instrument and the vocals. It's a great deal. I would've given 5 start but the chicken dinner everyone got as a part of the offer was cold and rather bland. Our neighbors agreed. Just a little more spice/flavoring and serving it warm--would seem to be an easy fix. From the other reviews it seems people agree that some of the meals could use a little TLC. The only other bummer is that salsa music is usually associated with dancing but there's just not enough space for both tables for eating and dancing. I believe they have Wednesday night salsa dancing though. Overall a great date night spot though.

Had such a great time at the Latin Summer series Drom is a nice cozy spot with great staff and food will visit again and suggest this spot to friends

Went to Drom this past Saturday with a group of friends. Ladies WARNING before entering you need to walk down a flight of stairs. When wearing 6 inch heels this can be challenging. I literally walked so slow I thought it took 10 minutes to go down the 10-12 steps. Seriously, it is in what I call the basement of this establishment. But once over the stair debacle we entered and the hostess was prompt and attentive. The establishment is bigger than I expected. The place has a mellow vibe upon entering but somewhat more chaotic when entering the bar/ dining room area. There was a coverage charge of $20 but I thought it was well worth it due to the live entertainment. We had a table reserved. I highly recommend doing so. The dining area does feel a bit cramped for my taste. The tables are just to close together. Also, depending where you are sitting you can have an awesome to a downright horrible view of the stage. We were fortunate an had a table with a great view of the stage. The server was good and I have to admit I enjoyed the food. Nothing fancy or innovative as far as the menu but the food tasted fresh and the serving size was just right. We ordered drom salad, calamari, chicken panni, and several drinks :-) As for the entertainment it was AWESOME. However, some performers were better than others. I especially liked that the artists are outside near the entrance area where you can meet them, buy a cd, and/ or take a pic with them. Really nice touch to end the night! The price point is on par with Manhattan prices and the drinks are done well. Would I be back? The answer is yes. But, I would only go if there was a performer or event I am particularly interested in seeing and had a table reservation. Also, if driving parking is not easy to get but that is to be expected in Manhattan.

I threw an event at Drom and I was very pleased with the outcome. The venue is great- it is a bit of a surprise when you walk in to see such an upscale interior. The manager was great to work with, the bar was totally on the ball and the venue was perfect for the 5 bands that performed.

Been coming to this venue for a long time. They have of course changed names over the years. As a club/bar I don't like it. The drinks aren't great. Its really just a 'meh" experience. However if you are coming here for dinner and a show I think you'll have a more enjoyable time. Especially if the acts are really good. Food is decent but a little bit overpriced. Good for shows, but just ok for everything else.

Came here for a friend's birthday on a Friday night when Le Youth was spinning. It was a good show and it wasn't too crowded. A few creepers scattered on the dance floor - especially the one guy drenched in sweat while dancing by the speakers. The staff allowed people to dance on stage and some crazy girls (including my friends) were hitting on the DJ and messing with his levels- pretty hilarious. poor guy. It was odd to see two amateur photographers who claimed to be shooting for a music video? Not sure if true but they were both snapping random photos with very little focus. I'd like to see how the photos came out because I would be surprised if any are even in frame. I would rate DROM with three stars if it weren't for the awful service at the bar. Each person in my group, including myself, returned to the dance floor after a bad experience with the bartender. I dealt with a male server and he was so rude that I did not want to return. The line for the women's bathroom was also so long and the bathroom was filthy with wet floors. I would not return.

Came here for a belly dancing show. The show was GREAT! The Mediterranean food was OK! The waitress was the WORST! At least two tables in my section complained to management about her attitude, and I make 3. Won't be coming back here.

Well, I can't give more than two stars for this place, even though the group I was there to see was the excellent Hazmat Modine. It was the first night of the Gypsy Music Festival, and they were preceded by a very good combo called Sway Machinery. Because there was some confusion as to when Hazmat Modine would start, I got there for the 8 PM set; naturally, they went on at 9. I had run there from my volunteer job with my packages and had to stand for an hour with nowhere to put them; in fact, I got dirty looks from people because I wouldn't set them on the floor. I wasn't about to order food, simply because I hadn't seen the menu and didn't feel like paying $15 for a green salad; all the tables appeared to be reserved anyway. I don't drink, although I suppose I could have gotten water from the bar. I didn't want to miss their set, and wasn't in the best mood when they finally took the stage; because I was standing the whole time, I ended up leaving early. The last show I went to that I wasn't allowed to sit, I also had to go home early. Nothing personal, but I did pay the cover; why don't we get to sit?

So here I am, Friday night on a whim ended up at drom with some friends for a live air sex show we just found out about. Sounds interesting right? That's what we thought (good for a laugh) except it's starting way late and the zack galifinakis looking dj is just playing his fav tracks from an iMac. Maybe when the show actually starts it'll improve but this bar kinda sucks and the late start time makes it worse. 2 stars seems fair.

I went here Memorial Day weekend for a Bollywood dance. The floor was packed when I came around 11:30, but that never phases me if the music is good, which of course it was. By around 2am, I had plenty of space to REALLY move! What delighted me most about the place was the forgiving surface of the floor and the fact that it really stayed open until 4am as promised. What irked me was that there seemed to be only 2 bathroom stalls for the entire place. Still, that was a minor concern as I am more of a dancer than a drinker. That said, I actually didn't try any drinks, so I cannot comment on the selection/service. But I would return here to dance, for sure.
(4)MaryEllen C.
Really nice space for live music, decent food and drink menu so I wish I could write a better review however expect to pay a $10 cover and then be promptly kicked out after 20-30 minutes when the band you paid to see finishes their set. We were told the place was "sold out" for the next show yet we were never informed at the door that we were paying to spend a half hour there. We dropped $250 and would have probably spent more had we not been asked to leave. Poor management decisions. I will not return.

Came here Sunday for a show, which didn't disappoint. The fare was typical dinner and a show style, so if you're a foodie, your palate will not be pleased. Started out with a crap arugula salad, which was overly dressed, and the follow up was a plate of grilled chicken, one slice (one!!) of green pepper, and a generous serving of white rice. That's it. Now I know Turkish food well, and this wasn't even spiced. At all. The table next to us never got served their dinner on time, and we had to wave down the server to get their dinner for them. The drinks were good though, at $12 a pop. I popped once, therefore. The entertainment made up for it though, with a bellydancing show that raised the level of the evening. The venue is a dark place, small (even for NYC standards). Once the show ended, we were made to feel that it's time to go, as another crowd was being ushered in.

I actually Came here my first night in the city and saw a band and it was awesome! The light guy was even flashing the lights on beat with the music which was pretty amusing. Drinks were good. Bartender was nice. Overall great experience, will come again!
(5)Helen W.
I came here to listen to the Silver Arrow Band. The atmosphere was nice. The drinks were a bit pricey. I think $12 for a vodka cranberry. It's a relaxed environment and people were just enjoying themselves.

My husband and I came here on a Friday night in April for a Killing Joke afterparty. The venue was filled with beautiful people dressed like Trent Reznor c. 1989 and the DJs played post-punk and death rock. Admission was $26 for the two of us - not bad, not great. Drinks were free, since my husband knew someone, and they were too strong for me, so they might be great for you. (I'm not much of a drinker anymore.) Making out with your spouse like he's someone you just picked up is encouraged, we got to hang out with dudes from KMFDM and Killing Joke, and they let me use the men's since the line for the women's room was up to a ridiculous 14 people. Good times.

The music was really 5 stars, but the food was bad. Actually, I bought the Travelzoo, that included the meal, and the food was dry and cold. I then decided to pay and buy some snacks, but they were weak and bad too, so it was not that they were trying to rip us off with the Travelzoo deal it's just that the food is not well done. Lacks decor and the drinks were weak.

DROM has hosted a couple of concerts I've been to recently. The atmosphere and food are both fine, but the wait staff last night were unreasonably rude to a friend of mine. There's a "two items per person at tables" policy in effect, but last night was pretty empty, and I was at a large table with only four of us at one end, three of whom were buying food and drink. Our 4th friend, although she'd bought a drink at the bar, was unceremoniously ejected from our table and sent back to sit at the bar like an errant school child. The waitress wasn't even going to let her go back to get her jacket from the table! Stupid. I left no tip, but even paying was hard, because nobody. had. any. change. In a bar? Really? No change, guys? They also had the temerity to add the tip in to the total bill amount, which is a desperate, stingy move that does nothing to increase my estimation of them. To top it off, the sound-guy working that night wasn't very good - the sound was muddy and badly balanced. DROM: your two-item minimum, rude wait-staff, and generally bad service has done nothing but convince me and my friends that we should try and avoid you in the future. You kind of suck. ---Update:---- The owner kindly invited me to call him and talk about the situation. He was very polite, so I'm hopeful that he'll encourage the people who work at Drom to be more flexible with respect to table-seating in the future. This bodes well, though I'll have to experience it myself to know if anything's changed. To whoever our waitress was that night: you need to exercise some good judgement in situations like this. 3 out of 4 people were actively ordering food and drink, the 4th one had a drink from the bar, and the room was pretty empty. Who benefits from treating our 4th friend like a misbehaving child? Nobody. If you'd been a kinder person that night, several people with the potential to go back to Drom might've left feeling better about the place. As it is, I think your efforts may have thwarted a fair amount of future business. -j-

Never been to a place that wouldn't allow me to pay money at the door to see music that's about to end. Or let me stand in the empty vestibule waiting for a friend to come out and say hello. So thanks, Drom, for being the rare unfriendly experience I've had in New York in many years. For fitting the (unfair) stereotype of the City. And while I've been standing outside writing this, your bouncer prohibited three people from walking down the stairs just to see your venue. They knew tonight was sold out, and were not going to rush your ticket-taker (their average age was about 62). They were just interested in a future show. Way to show some hospitality.

I paid $45 to see the Rebirth Brass Band, a great New Orleans band. And I was so disappointed. It was way too crowded for such a little basement club. The staff constantly interrupt the audience and the show by carting cases of beer through standing-only crowd (can't they stock the bar before it gets crowded???). And they sold WAY TOO MANY TICKETS for such a small space. I saw some of the concert while pinned against a wall with people stepping on my feet the whole time (wait staff included). So DISAPPOINTING. I had a much better time seeing Kermit Ruffins at the Brooklyn Bowl recently (same size standing-only crowd, but with a better bar and MUCH bigger standing-only space in that venue).

I came here for LucidNYC, which is an event where there are few speakers who speak about things that matter to them, and people are supposed to meet each other and discuss. I enjoyed this space where it was held. It definitely didn't feel too formal and it had a more casual feel to it. The space is huge with high ceilings which you wouldn't expect since this is a basement space. You have to walk down a set of stairs outdoors to get to the entrance. For the first hour of the event, a jazz band was playing on stage while people were getting situated and ordering food and drinks. To sit in the lounge or at a table, there was a 2 order minimum per person. Luckily, from 7pm-8pm, it was still happy hour. So I ordered a $5 vodka cranberry. The people at my table ordered a brownie, and 2 sandwiches (one was the chicken panini and the other was the spicy beef panini). I wanted something more substantial to eat but once I saw what they got (they ordered before me) I didn't want to order it. The chicken panini was too cheesey and the beef panini "was street meat." The brownie with ice cream was alright. None of these things actually look appetizing, the sandwiches also didn't come with any type of sides (both were $14). Either way, I ended up ordering chicken wings ($10). Surprisingly, they were delicious. I ate all of it. It came in a bowl with a side of some type of spicy sauce and dressing, plus celery. The chicken wings were so crispy and crunchy. It was amazing. I was definitely happy with my order.

SO BAD! Bad service, sketch neighborhood, let guests stand and wait in the cold wind for no reason, and the lights on the main stage went off unintentionally for what, like 5 times in an hour?! Gosh if Drom doesn't have the capacity and capability to organize a large live concert event, please don't. You guys are just ruining others lifetime to earn the dirty money. And fyi, I think you are lucky to have such amazing audience and amazing artists to be there. SHAME on you that this place sucks so much. Cuban food was okay just felt cheap, but they dare to overcharge so much for horrible drinks. anyways peace out, never again.

I heart ny
(4)Clifford D.
Good sound esp for East Village. Great staff and always enjoy myself there. I like how they are working on improving the space all the time and how diverse the acts are too.
(5)Maly A.
Came here last Saturday to see a performance, cool ambiance. Food & service pretty good.
(3)Jordan W.
(4)Kristeia A.
(3)Karla V.
(1)Ramon B.

(3)Joseph A.
Yay! ;)
(5)Shawn B.
(5)Jason F.
Interesting and talented acts, but the blonde bartenders couldn't be less interested in working. Don't expect to get a drink in any timely manner.
(3)Lysette F.
(1)r f.
(1)Atno S.
I have done repeats at this place with "Cumbiana" a group that understands the true music of the "African Disporia". The food and beer is great along with the service. This is definantly a place for World music. Seating is limited and standing is required, after all seating is covered.
(5)Sara M.
(5)Ling L.
(1)Parisa S.
(4)denis m.
Drom is the place that you can enjoy World Music, good food and drink with right price. Fridays are big fun with Greek and Turkish Music, it's my favorite. I love their eggplant salad and calamari
(5)ViviMar Val C.
Cool place. Must visit.
(4)Shake S.

There are too many great places in NYC to waste your time and money here (not to mention sending your good mood spiraling into a foul, violent place).

what a RUDE, rude, rude bartender! we rented the place and filled it up and she complained about people asking for glasses of water because she was saving glasses for "paying customers." if i weren't with friends, i would have walked. as it is, i opened a new account on yelp to make note of the "recessionary customer service." i hope the word gets out!

(3)Cy T.

(4)Sonia N.
(2)La B.

(3)Jia J.
(2)Larissa A.
(2)Rob K.

(4)Nan C.
(4)Eric R.
(3)Sara S.
(2)Jahmila M.
Came here for a belly dancing show. The show was GREAT! The Mediterranean food was OK! The waitress was the WORST! At least two tables in my section complained to management about her attitude, and I make 3. Won't be coming back here.
(2)Fallopia T.
(2)Joe C.
(2)Mary Z.
(3)Theresa V.
(3)Salt S.
I actually Came here my first night in the city and saw a band and it was awesome! The light guy was even flashing the lights on beat with the music which was pretty amusing. Drinks were good. Bartender was nice. Overall great experience, will come again!

Good times.
