Honestly maybe I've just been crazy lucky but this is the way all restaurants should be. I've had excellent service both times I've been here. For example: we ordered the honey comb ice cream and our waitress noticed it wasn't very 'honey combing' and she immediately took it off our bill. the good: farm to table dining - menu changes often - super cool rustic look with barn wood - lamb - truffle pasta the bad: did not think the rib eye was worth the price I'm a sucker for this sort of feel. reminds me of my favorite places in CA. BONUS: look out for their awesome groupon deal

not worth the the money at all. The restaurant is located inside the marriott Hotel and from the outside it looks nice with barn doors and a big bar. The day we went, was almost empty and we had reservations for 8pm. Arrived and we were promptly seated by a well mannered hostess. Got offered bread and were told that the next person will take our order. Ordered the special of the day. A New York Strip steak with bok choy. Calamari and my friend the pork chop. The calamari arrived and it was crispy but greasy and almost no flavor. The steak tasted like pork from a chinese restaurant. it was literally chinese food at an american restaurant that costed me $25 bucks for well done beef when i asked for medium rare. The pork chop had pickled onions and supper dulled up veggies and very dry meat. It was 1.5 inches thick already cooked.. i don't know or any or have ever seen pork so think and dry. Ordered some of the local beers and they had run out of many of them and just told him to bring me anything. At the end they explained to me that the head chef was not there and they noticed that both of us were not enjoying the food and were just picking at it. My friend had one arm bigger than the other from trying to cut her pork chop and i was just blah,, i could have gotten chinese food near home. At the end my friend and i were not happy with the food, the place or ambiance since nothing was worth the price of admission. IM sorry i went there and im sorry i took you friend..

This is my new favorite restaurant in Tarrytown. Don't be fooled by the fact that it's in the Marriott. The farm-to-table cuisine isn't for everyone but if you're in to that sort of thing, you will LOVE Cooper's Mill. The menu is small and changes, and entrees aren't cheap - but that's because the quality of the food you get is superior to your average Sysco-serviced restaurant. Our server Karen was great and made us feel welcome right away. The bread was really tasty and our salad and flatbread appetizer was delicious. I really liked the veggie burger with smoked gouda - it was clearly homemade with lots of black beans and good grains. The food took a bit longer than "normal" but I'm OK with that, as I took it as a sign that they were actually preparing it instead of heating it up. We ended the meal with the ice cream sampler. Nerds ice cream was such an unexpected treat. And they didn't give me any hassle about my Amazon Local deal - a lot of places look at you like a second class citizen when you dare to use a coupon. If you like good, simple food this is the place for you. I'll definitely be back.

Fine if you're staying in the hotel and want a bite to eat. Not really a destination place for Tarrytown. We went to celebrate my sister's birthday because the now former chef had gotten great reviews. We didn't know he had left. Dinner was fine, but far from memorable. My striped bass was very good. The fiddlehead pasta had no fiddleheads. Service was very friendly but unprofessional. Too long a wait for the desserts we ordered to be served. As a local I won't likely be back.

Fantastic food. Tried it for the first time and was impressed. Did a bunch of apps and drinks. Cozy environment, easy to get to.

I didnt enjoy the food at all really, and way overpriced for what you get

We were staying at this hotel, so this review is for breakfast only. We were seated promptly, and at 8:30, there were very few in the restaurant. We waited approximately 15 minutes before our waiter acknowledged us and took our coffee orders. They kept pushing their buffet, for $18.95. We were off to a wedding and didn't want to pig out here, so we opted for ala carte. I ordered eggs benedict, and hubby ordered good start granola with bagel and fresh berries. The eggs benedict for $12.95 came literally with 2 small circles on the plate and nothing else. There was no fruit, no side, not even a garnish. Needless to say, by the time our waiter came to check in on our food, I was already done eating. My hubby's good start with fresh berries was literally a cup of granola in a bowl accompanied by a half a strawberry cut up into 3 small pieces in a 1/4 cup sized ramekin. This was $12.95. If they are trying to push their buffet, I suppose one way to do so is by serving miniscule portions at these prices. We're going to go to Dunkins tomorrow for the same quality and quantity at a lower price.

loved the whole farm look around the restaurant. It's farm doors where the center of my whole night because I could not stop talking about it. There menue is farm to table, witch is all the new rage with a very big wine selection and I ordered the crab cake witch was big and it was pretty good. Over all its not fancy but it is definitely not no fast food restaurant. I would definitely go again and I would recommend it.
(4)Helen B.
The food was ok, albeit overpriced for just ok. The service was disappointing. We arrived with reservations at 5:30 and verified with both the maitre d and our server that, as written in reservation, we had to be out by 7:00 because we had timed event tx. At 6:50 I pointed pointed to my watch and our server said "don't worry." At 6:55 our dinners came out and our server triumphantly told us that he said we shouldn't worry. We never got to our daughter's birthday cake/coffee and came to our event a little late after bolting down our dinners.

I found a Groupon deal online and decided to give Cooper's a try after reading some great reviews on Yelp. For $79, my family of four got 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, 2 draft beers, and 2 glasses of wine. This would have cost us $170 without the Groupon (they give you an itemized receipt at the end of the night so you get to see how much you would have spent), so it was an AWESOME deal. Dinner comes with complimentary bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar. For our starters, we had the mussels, the crab cake, and the buffalo wings (this was paid for in addition to the Groupon). I really liked the way the seafood was prepared. The mussels were cooked in a chorizo, beer, and red pepper reduction, which I thought was pretty unique. I've only ever had mussels served in some variation of a white wine reduction, so Cooper's mussels were a nice breathe of fresh air. The crab cake - which was super meaty - was fantastic as well. The buffalo wings were nothing special, but they were a nice addition to our meal and went well with my beer. For the main course, I ordered the honey glazed roasted chicken, but I also tried a bit of everything else that the rest of my family ordered, which included the seared scallops, the pork shank, and the duck breast. The pork shank was definitely the best value (quantitatively speaking) of the bunch, but in terms of taste and presentation, the scallops were the clear winner. Unfortunately the portions are small. Otherwise, there was nothing particularly memorable about my mom's duck and my chicken was quite dry, although I did like the corn hash/bread that it came with. As for the beverages..I didn't have any wine (I left that to the parents), but I did get to make the call on the draft beers because my sister didn't want a drink. I don't remember the exact name of the beers - I'm guessing they rotate the draft beers frequently so it isn't printed on the menu - but I ordered a cream ale and an IPA per our waitress's recommendation. I really enjoyed the smoothness of the cream ale, but I wasn't a huge fan of the super hoppy IPA. Service was attentive and the dining atmosphere was very pleasant. Most of the patrons looked like they were in the area for business and had stopped in for a quick bite before heading back to their hotels. I love the farm-to-table concept, but I thought the menu was a little pricey. If you really want to try this place, take advantage of the Groupon while it is still active.

Cooper's Mill brings a unique and authentic take on "farm to fork" dining to the Lower Hudson Valley. The new restaurant offers a diverse menu ranging from signature flat breads to fresh vegetable dishes, and entrees featuring meat and seafood sourced from local purveyors. One of the premier dishes on the menu is the 20-ounce Grilled Rib Eye Steak served with broccoli rabe and wild mushroom butter. The menu also includes more basic sandwiches that feature artisanal and specialty ingredients. For instance, the Smoked Turkey BLT comes on a cranberry walnut baguette and is served with avocado, chive aioli and smoked uncured bacon. Five flat breads are a signature feature of the menu -- fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce and fresh basil; Coach Farms goat cheese, arugula, heirloom tomato and truffle oil; fig, bella bella duck prosciutto, gorgonzola and scallion; portobello, wild mushroom puree, red onion and fontina; and house made ricotta, local mozzarella and caramelized onion - all baked in the custom-made wood-fired oven. Delicious! Reclaimed barn wood is the key feature of the new venue and is used extensively throughout. The natural look of the antique barn wood creates a striking contrast with the open "industrial" look of the ceilings and surrounding spaces. Everyone will enjoy this new dining destination.

Only 2 stars because of the poor service. Marriott is really dropping the ball lately with their restaurants and Cooper's Mill is an example. Ordered bison chili appetizer ($12), mixed greens side salad ($8) and a glass of red wine ($10). Food runner brought out the chili and salad together (as I requested) but no wine. Then I realized I had no spoon or salt and pepper. Caught the food runner as he walked by and asked him for a spoon and pepper and my wine. Got the spoon and an empty pepper mill. No wine. Had to ask a bus person for another pepper mill and "hey, where is my wine?". Bus person then returned with a pepper mill and my wine. I was almost finished with the chili and salad when my waitress FINALLY stopped by to check on me. Once I finished my wine it took a while to get my bill. Food was good but overpriced, especially considering the poor service! Should have driven my Toyota Prius Hertz rental car (a review of the Prius is next LOL) to a local restaurant!
(2)Ari H.
Unfortunately we got duped into coming here via an Amazon Local deal, not realizing the place was in a Marriott Hotel- which would've been a big enough red flag to warrant a pass on the deal. That said, the menu really does read well. And that would be just the menu. Regrettably the preparations do not translate as well to the taste. Virtually everything we had would be exactly what you'd expect from a Marriott Hotel restaurant. The salad, flatbread, fish and ice cream were all underwhelming. The only thing that rose to a level of okay, would be the burger. But not even the burger was worth the trip. And the egg nog ice cream was flat out disgusting. On a plus note, our server was excellent. Oh, and I'm glad we didn't pay full price for it.
(2)Gordon P.
Located in the Marriott and we came for breakfast. Better than your average hotel breakfast- it was a real restaurant.

Went here last Saturday night with my boyfriend using the Amazon local deal. To be honest, we were a little bit skeptical given that the previous reviews were mixed. However, we had a really great time! The atmosphere is great--farm to table design. It was cute and cozy. Our waitress was wonderful. She was friendly, knowledgable about the menu, and recommended some great choices. For apps we got the calamari and the butternut squash flatbread. Both were delicious. The calamari came with a curry dipping sauce that was definitely a unique twist. I also ordered a Jalapeno margarita, which was absolutely delicious (and not too spicy!). For entrees, my boyfriend ordered the burger and proclaimed that it was one of the best he had ever had. It came with a really great house made ketchup. I ordered the smoked mozzarella sandwich. It was a little small for the price, but at that point I was pretty stuffed anyway so I didn't mind. This is a great place to come to--although the portions were a bit small, we both agreed that we would come back again!
(4)Brooke E.
We were a little hesitant to try the place out after reading some of the reviews on here... But pleasantly surprised. The food was certainly different, but good. While it did not seem to be the farm to table that was advertised it was reasonably priced and fresh. We will def be back again

Had a business luncheon here today. Excellent place for a client meeting. Located in the very nice Marriott Hotel, Cooper's Mill has a nice, rustic feel to it. The menu is attractive, with great variety - not your typical blah hotel restaurant menu. I order the Garden Pea and Mushroom Arancini for my appetizer. It was OK. I had the artic char for my entree. Again, it was only OK. My client had one of the flat breads and loved it. The service was very efficient and friendly and the prices were fairly reasonable for a hotel. They have a attractive beer menu - I'll try that next time. They also have a huge room for private events. I will definitely try the restaurant again.
(3)Dayday S.
Not sure if it has gone down hill or I was generous the last time around, but this is an average restaurant. Our service was particularly slow last night even though the place was not particularly busy.
(3)Van F.
Husband and I went there for dinner and had an amazing experience. We both had the NY Strip, which it was perfectly cooked and delicious. For dessert, you must try the chocolate delice, it`s AWESOME. It`s like a big Lindt truffle with a touch of Grand Marnier, just perfect. Service was outstanding and friendly. Can`t wait to go back to Cooper`s Mill.
(5)Jason F.
Food and atmosphere good if they only weren't so confused. They messed up 3 orders including mine all around me.

Yay! A new restaurant and it's actually good. I'm a fan of supporting local and regional ingredients whenever possible but I'm a bigger fan of good food. Chef Falconer (formerly of Sweet Grass Grill) seems to have a knack for not only balancing local/regional/sustainable ingredients but also making them taste really good. Cooper's Mill is located in a hotel, despite having a separate entrance. This isn't a huge deal to me because I happen to enjoy hotel restaurants if they're good restaurants. It's still fairly new and so little things have to be worked out but it's overall a nice spot that I hope is around for a while. It's a darker space with reclaimed barn wood used all over the restaurant and for tables. The bar is a nice long bar with a long table right by it for additional seating. It has, what else, on draft but local beers. There are also sliding doors to section off different parts of the restaurant if one is ever in need of such a thing, On our first visit we had the jumbo lump crab cake (which the hubby tried on the second visit and enjoyed thoroughly), duck confit hash (with potatoes, manchego and a baked duck egg on top which was amazing and a meal in itself), fresh pork rinds with a sriracha dipping sauce (super cheap and super good) and the charcuterie platter with - 5 spoke cheddar, berkshire blue, tasso pork, bella bella duck prosciutto, house Made pickles, house Made Whole Grain Mustard and some raisin bread. This to me is so worth it, it's the kind of thing where you can just get appetizers and be happy. The cheese was awesome, I'm not usually a fan of blue but this was very nice and balanced well with the spice of the Tasso pork. The duck prosciutto needs a little more salt but it was still fun to try and balances out when you try it with everything else on the platter. For entree most of us had the confit Berkshire pork shank with citrus beet root and Gorgonzola risotto. This is a meal for two people. It's incredibly fatty but also very good. I loved the kick of citrus that was actually in the beets in the risotto. It all played so well together. The skin on the pork was again amazing, but this is definitely a meal for two people. For dessert I had the ice cream sampler - chocolate bread pudding ice cream, cookie dough, beet honey and finally tomato sorbet. The tomato sorbet I could have lived without. It actually tasted like grapefruit, decidedly more savory and incredibly acidic. The beet honey was amazing though, very mild and interesting in a good way. The little one was thrilled with the kids selections and I was thrilled that they were actually healthy. Oh and how could I forget the warm plain flatbread brought out to the table with olive oil. Simply marvelous. On my second trip, date night with hubby, service wasn't as great and there were little execution problems but I chalk this up to the restaurant being barely two months old. We started out again with the crab cake (still good) and pork rinds which were still crackling like a bowl of Rice Krispies when they came to the table. For entree, hubby had the Arctic Char with cauliflower hash and eggplant purée which he did enjoy however the portions on the accompaniments are very off. Surely a large piece of fish deserves more than a few tablespoons of purée and 6 pieces of cauliflower. The skin on the fish was also not crisped. Nonetheless it was overall a good tasting dish. I had the duck breast with turnip purée and Swiss chard, again with the same portion size problem, I felt like all I had on my plate was a duck breast. While it was good I had ordered it medium as opposed to medium rare but still got a medium rare duck breast with fat that hadn't been rendered long enough making for a fatty, tough piece of meat. It's a shame because one or two fixes could have made that a five star dish. The turnip puree that I did have was honestly out of this world. For dessert I had the lemon posset my mom had raved about, with fresh blueberries and ginger syrup. It was indeed quite good, oh how I love ginger when used properly. It was especially refreshing on a 90 something degree day. It's a lovely custard with incredibly refreshing flavors and a nice finish to a heavy meal. Hubby went for the chocolate bread pudding and loved it. I was actually a little jealous because it was so delicious but hubby was nice enough to share, Will I go back? For sure. I'm hoping the little things get worked out but I think this is the start of a beautiful restaurant.

My friend and I arrived at 8:00 pm for and 8:30 reservation on a Saturday night, and the hostess forgot that we were at the bar. I reminded her and we were seated by 8:40. No one filled our water glasses or put out any bread or pickings. The waiter took ten minutes to greet us and by this time we ordered immediately. The crab cake appetizer was delicious, and that is why we gave 2 stars. We both ordered the duck breast with pureed turnips and swiss chard. The duck was tough, served over a smearing of the pureed turnips with swiss chard. You could get a bit of the turnip flavor, but you could not scoop it up on your fork to taste a mouthful. What little I could taste on my duck was delicious. The atmosphere was pretty noisy with a mixture of families with kids, and couples. The dress there was very casual, shorts and golf shirts seemed to be the theme. The restaurant temperature hit you when you walked inside; it was freezing. I realize there has been a heat wave, but the patrons were dressed for hot weather and the wait staff were wearing long sleeves so I think the temperature was catering to their needs. I saw one customer with her napkin draped across her shoulder. We will not be going back to Cooper's Mill.

5 stars, yes, 5. so i am staying in the marriott, very nice, yelpdate to follow. anyway, i wanted a burger and they did not disappoint. ok, first, it was 15 bucks, thats quite a mouthful for bacon cheese burger, but you know what, totally worth it. i mean lets review. for a buck you get something yanked from a cow (i hope) with a chemical, pass. for 8 bucks you get a casual dinning thing, often frozen or pre molded or who knows. but for a mere 15 bucks, you receive a grass fed patty that had to be 10 oz. the cheese was a tangy cheddar and the bacon was a smokey delight. the lettuce was fancy bibb lettuce not that iceburg kaka you would get at any other establish not worth its salt. the roll, was just a roll, oh well, nothing fancy but importantly was holding this meal in hand together. the fries were very good, but i got it to go to consume in the privacy of my room, better this way, but the fries lose a little in the steam box that forms in the 3 minutes it takes to get it up to the 4th floor and unboxed. the togo/hostess was very nice about everything and it hit the spot. i could see how people actually not living in the hotel would visit, just another plus in my book. as for eating in the place, seems cozy, for 2+ that is.
(5)Ken R.
Just have to say the service is very slow. I gave two stars for the food and craft beers.
(2)Ken K.
Great service, food, wine and local tap beers! The happy hour is excellent. I always look forward to my happy hour visit to Cooper's!
(4)Frank R.
Excellent Fresh farm-to-Table ingredients ... deliciously flavorful ! Lamb Chops is out of the world. Honey Glazed chicken was satisfactory. Grass Fed Burger heavenly ! Waiter Adrian was courteous and polite. Mngr. Vincent was professional friendly & courteous. Will revisit!
(4)Erin J.
Flat bread was basically a piece of cardboard with a salad thrown on top. Got the monk fish- practically inedible and fish was not fresh- three random pieces of fish thrown on the plate- who knows if there were all from the same fish or not. Used the groupon deal but not worth the terrible food.
(1)Adam G.
Pork shank was great. Mussels appetizer was good. Ambiance is lacking feeling like an (in house) restaurant for the hotel. Groupon discount made it worthwhile. Service was very good.
(3)James P.
I was disappointed as we approached to discover that the restaurant is located within an average appearing motel surrounded by a large parking lot. Not very romantic at all. Fortunately we decided to try it out anyway and were surprised to find a completely different vibe on the inside. The bar was beautiful and the atmosphere exuded rustic elegance. The service was slow, albeit friendly and the mushroom flatbread was to die for. A hidden gem for happy hour for sure.
(3)Matt G.
We went last night and it was such an unmitigated disaster that they comped our whole meal - more than 2.5 hours after our table of 4 sat down. To call service slow was an understatement. It took over 5 minutes for the waitress to see us after we were sat. More than 10 to get our drinks. Over 30 minutes for our appetizers and then over 30 minutes to get our entrees (after finishing our apps). Then since it had all gone so badly, they offered us dessert on the house, and it was so slow (and we were paying the babysitters by the hour), that we went to cancel dessert over 20 minutes after we ordered it. And then the bread pudding came out, but the bowls of berries were missing. Of course, my wife finding a long blonde hair in the bread pudding was the last straw (no one at the table was a blonde). Other fun stuff - never got bread, until we asked and it came out as entrees were being served. I cleared the empty dishes that the appetizers were served on myself, by stacking them on the next table after the busboy walked by repeatedly and didn't do it himself. Want your water glass refilled? Forget it. I didn't clear the dirty appetizer plates, and even after the very invisible manager came over (upon request- but slowly), and I pointed it out, he walked away and instead of doing it himself, a different busboy came over a few minutes later and did it. We got the impression that the manager just didn't care. And it showed. As far as the rest of the food: Flatbread pizza - partially burned Mussels - decent, but the broth tasted like dishwater Wings - pretty good although not very spicy but where were the carrots and celery? Salad - hard to screw this up Monkfish - pretty good, although a really small portion Steak - good, but more rare than the requested medium rare (and they took their time) Chicken - pretty good. Berry dessert - no idea Chocolate bread pudding - ask for it without someone else's hair in it. As big fans of farm to table restaurants, we were excited for this newcomer. However, and we know it has only been open 6 weeks, the flaws are too great and the staff woefully untrained. Having met the manager, you can see the effects of uncaring leadership. There is no shot that we'll be back.
(1)Joe N.
I have stayed at this hotel several times and I always look forward to the menu at this restaurant. It changes based on the season; very fresh ingredients. For breakfast I had a Captain Crunch encrusted French Toast! Highly recommended! The only down side is that it's a little on the pricey end, otherwise I highly recommend.
(4)Melanie B.
Went here for my birthday and am so glad I did. Absolutely delicious food! We had the hardest time deciding what to order. Carin, our server treated us very nicely, and made the experience special. We will definitely be back!
(4)Al B.
We had a wonderful meal here, with fresh local ingredients lovingly prepared. Every detail, from mustard to pickles, to fantastic bread, is made in-house. The charcuterie and fig flatbread appetizers were delicious, as were the terrific mussels. All were generous portions, and you'll want to share them so you can taste them all. The mains we loved were a succulent pork shank, grilled Arctic char, a perfectly seasoned, meaty crab cake, and excellent roast chicken. There's a great selection of local craft beers and a well-priced wine list. Service is friendly and attentive. you can really see the care that went into everything. This is a brand new restaurant and I'm trying to spread the word so they'll be successful and I can go back often!
(5)Anne P.
We bought a Groupon for Cooper's Mill after reading that it was a farm to table restaurant. Nowhere on the menu was there any mention of where the food came from. Our very friendly waitress Vanessa bought cold complementary bread rolls to the table along with butter that she said was house made - it tasted rancid. The beer was good. My husband and I ordered the romaine salad - it tasted like it had bottled salad dressing on it. I ordered the cod and requested it be cooked well done - it wasn't. We definately will not come back and do not recomend Cooper's Mill.
(1)Marshall F.
Worst restaurant meal we've had in a long time. We went because of the Groupon - and even at half-price, this meal was hardly a bargain. Farm to table? What about the bottled buffalo wing sauce? My wife got duck that was tough and so badly cooked that the fat wasn't even rendered. I got the confit pork shank - a massive wad of meat on a bone that obviously had simply been plunked in a deep fryer until the skin crackled like old shoe leather. When my wife complained about the duck, the embarrassed server (she was very nice) offered us a complimentary dessert. We ordered strawberry-rhubarb cobbler and it was flavorless, with a pasty oatmeal-type topping that obviously had been seared with a blowtorch and unsweetened filling that included large, fibrous, insufficiently cooked chunks of rhubarb.
(1)Owen V.
The food at this restaurant was pretty good, and a groupon deal allowed for a reasonable meal, however the service was extremely slow. After we ordered, it took an hour to receive our food, but we were missing two meals. We asked them and they said that they forgot the meals and were to make them now. However, everyone else in our party was done, and we didn't have our meal yet. They made no effort to apologize and eventually brought the burgers, which were quite dismal. In the end, avoid this restaurant unless you have a groupon and plenty of time.
(2)Mitch S.
dingy off-lobby restaurant with mediocre food. no great shakes. not going back.
(2)David T.
Went last night (Saturday) based on yelpers reviews -- thanks as always! Decor was interesting -- sort of a modern rustic, especially in the main room / bar area -- did not feel at all like we were in a hotel (only related problem was parking, as Ruth Chris restaurant had their own valet, and Hotel did not, and two weddings, so had to park on the other side of the property...) Nevertheless, food was quite good - we shared the mushroom flatbread -- excellent and the steak cob salad -- waitress said it was huge, and that was an understatement! Would feed two for lunch, easy! It was delicious -- just needed a touch of pepper, which was not initially offered, but graciously provided when asked for (copper table-sized salt shaker and pepper mill brought to table later -- after less than 6 weeks since the open, a minor logistic). Also note, we asked for the steak medium, but came out more medium rare (of the four of us, two preferred medium, two medium rare, so presented no problem as part was closer to medium)-- maybe definitional, so if it matters to you, I'd ask what they mean! The pork shank w/gorgonzola risotto was amazing -- was expecting it to be more "osso bucco-like", but it was very different, in an amazing way! Pork was completely crispy on the outside (skin on, and just delicious), but the meat was flavorful and tender. This also was a huge portion -- I made it through only half of it! Risotto was a great consistency and the gorgonzola was not hiding, so very robust flavor, but the combination worked very well! The Artic char came out looking very much like the photo -- crispy skin on top, veggies were fresh, colorful and perfectly al dente, flavor was fabulous, and although the fish was not that thick, still was quite a nice size and moist! Chicken Pesto Sandwich looked and tasted great --saw a few other sandwiches which looked really good. We sat in the "side room", which was very quiet -- there was a large party in the main room by the bar, and it was much noisier there. his room had 4-5 "wall tables plus 4-6 high-tables, so if that was packed too, would probably have been noisier. Overall, the restaurant really offers a huge range of size/types of meals, with modest to huge portions available in both entrees, salads, sandwiches and flatbreads! I would have rated this a 4.5, moving to a 5 once they work out some of the minor kinks. Definitely would go back!

Spent 88.00 and left hungry. Small portions

Tried for our anniversary dinner! Karen was our server - very attentive, friendly and informative! Nice wine and beer selection! My husband enjoyed the prime rib. The mussels appetizer was delicious! We will definitely return !"
(4)Nick R.
Avoid. My arctic char was burnt and flavorless, and I sent it back. I am like the least picky eater ever and this dish was inedible. Service was not very good either.
(1)bruce s.
Fair, at best. The 'farm to table' proposition rings hollow and appears mainly a marketing ploy. Nothing served stood and service was uniquely incompetent.
(2)s b.
I had high hopes for this place, but have to agree with other reviewers - the service (as well as the ambiance) are abysmal! Ambiance - I expected rustic chic, but was greeted by TVs and a very awkward layout that leaves most tables sitting very exposed. Furniture is reminiscent of dingy bar, not farm to table upscale restaurant. Don't get fooled by the exterior/entry way. Food - Just ok. I expect fresh, mouthwatering, stick to your bones type food in a farm-to-table restaurant, but unfortunately it's more reminiscent of bar food. Service - Our server was nice, but clearly not well trained. Took forever for him to take our order (even drink order), and to understand what we wanted. Once appetizers had come out he came out to ask how everything was, not even realizing that 1 person (who he was standing right next to) was without food!! The icing on the cake was that the charge was put through incorrectly on my credit card. I called the restaurant, spoke to the manager who assured me he would look into it and get back to me to let me know what the status was. He did get back to me to let me know that his accounting folks were unavailable. Then - radio silence for the next several days. Called, left a message. No response. Called again, phone was answered, was put on hold - forever. When I called back and told them I was left on hold for a long time so I called back, the response was "Oh, that's ok." When they finally got the manager on the line, he clearly did not want to be bothered, slammed down the phone at the end of the call. Really? I would have never even bothered writing this review had it not been for this attitude, but this was just very off putting.

I really wanted this to be good, but it was the exact definition of mediocrity. First, I just felt like I was in a sports bar with nicer tables. We started with drinks; my "sangria" was essentially apple juice FILLED with ice with some apple, canned peach, and a blueberry with the stem still on it. We got the special flatbread for the evening that had kale, spinach, italian sausage, peppers, goat cheese, and ricotta. Unfortunately, it was a dead-ringer for frozen Digiorno sausage and pepper pizza. My boyfriend's pork chop was fine, the greens that came with it inedible because they were so salty. I ordered the Red Watercress salad which advertised roasted fingerling potatoes, goat cheese, walnuts, and vinagrette. It was a small bowl of watercress with ONE iced cold potato, no walnuts, and some shredded ambiguous cheese. The lemon meringue tart for desert was again, fine, but clearly premade, possibly even frozen previously. None of this would upset me so much if it hadn't been so incredibly expensive for just disappointing food. We live in the city and don't get to Tarrytown much, but we will definitely not return to Cooper's Mill.

While I can't speak for the whole menu, I was a bit underwhelmed with everything I have tried. Over a 3 day training, we ate here each day. So let's start with the good. The ingredients are all seemingly fresh. Because of this, they really do have potential. The bar area is also quite inviting & nice to catch up for after work cocktails (or after dinner somewhere else). The bad; quite simply; the chef (at least at lunch the 3 days I ate there ) is either very sensitive to seasoning & believes his/her seasoning is fine or just doesn't taste the food... all my food (except the Bay Fries) was quite bland. I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Caesar salad, crab cake sandwich, burger. Bay French fries. Chicken sandwich... The bread was the only good thing about this sandwich. The peppers & mozzarella added nothing to help bring this sandwich together. Instead, every chewing motion left me feeling like I had 3 mouths, each eating something different but using the same taste buds... A very strange sensation.., just al bunch of bland flavored competing for who could be the most bland. The Caesar that is served with the chicken sandwich, the dressing was overwhelmingly full of flavor like miracle whip mayo-based salad dressing... very strange considering Caesar dressing is not made with that component. The dressing was quite heavily doused on the salad & had a pretty strong anchovy flavor. And serving it as a complimentary side to the sandwich... I'm not certain what they are thinking. The Crab Cake... Being from VA (which VA & MD is where you expect a good Crab Cake if your from the coast) the first day I elected not to attempt it... Now I can say with confidence I should've stuck with my original thought. In the same vein as the chicken , this crab cake was simply lacking in flavor. I'm unclear if the crab was not fresh or was simply some kind of northern crab (like I've had in Maine) vs something like a blue crab but even the crab itself literally tasted like nothing. The peppers on top of the sandwich were flavorless & so over-cooked they were like mush. The shining star of this meal was the Bay Fries... Seasoned with Old Bay, they were pretty decent (it's amazing what happens when you season something) The burger on day 3... exactly what I expected (hence the reason I ordered it)... Yes bland... But I knew at least with this offering I could repair the poor preparation with mustard & ketchup. If your going to eat here, I suggest the burger... This way you can ask for toppings to make it taste good. If this is considered one of the better places in Tarrytown , I'd be concerned about the others.

I was invited to attend the grand opening/ribbon cutting event for Cooper's Mill. The menu features a lot of locally sourced ingredients, which is becoming more and more prominent in this part of Westchester, and that's really refreshing. I was able to sample quite a few of their new menu items, including some great cocktails featuring locally crafted spirits. My 2 favorite cocktails were the Rickshaw Ricky (Hudson New York Corn Whiskey, ginger beer and lime juice) and a really wonderful Brooklyn Gin-ger (Brooklyn Gin, pickled ginger, simple syrup, grapefruit and champagne). They also have a lot of local beers on tap - I'm hoping they'll carry Ommegang, because that's my (and my husband's) favorite local beer. As far as the food - there were some great things there. I tried 3 of the flatbreads, and the one that really stood out was the Portobello (portobello mushrooms, wild mushroom purée, red onion, fontina and truffle oil). It was rich and earthy and had a really nice flavor. The flatbread was perfectly crispy. I also really enjoyed the Cooper's Mill Burger (5 Spoke cheddar, uncured smoked bacon, house made pickles, heirloom tomato, lettuce and onion on a crusty roll). The pickles were fantastic, and it had the perfect amount of cheese. The seared diver scallop was beautifully cooked, on top of a spring pea purée with pea shoots on top. I was also a big fan of the grilled ribeye with wild mushroom butter - it just melted in my mouth. They have a ton of homemade ice creams, and I tried the beet and honey one. Oh... my... goodness. It was great. The flavor of the beet gave it a nice subtle sweetness that was accented but not overpowered by the honey. If you love beets like I do, it's a must try. And if you don't love beets, maybe this one will convert you ;) I also got to sample the Lemon Posset which was like a panna cotta with crystallized ginger syrup, garnished with blueberries. It was fantastic! The texture was heavenly, and it was sweet and slightly spicy. Really, really nice. The staff was friendly and the space was beautiful. I have people from out of town visit often, and It's nice to have an option other than Ruth's Chris attached to the Marriott (because, let's face it, it's really pricey and definitely not a place you'd want to bring children to). I'm very curious to see what kind of breakfast offerings they will have, too, as my family loves farm eggs, porridge, etc. And with so many great local coffee roasters, I'd assume they have local coffee, too. All in all, a nice new restaurant that I'll be sure to bring my family to.

Food was good, not outstanding. Interesting farm to table recipes. Honey glazed chicken was moist, sausage bread pudding was flavorful. Service was slow.

Mixed results... Once seated we received complimentary flat bread with olive oil to dip which was fine. For appetizer we shared the "Chorizo Calzone" which included jalapeno peppers. While the crust was a bit hard the calzone had a flavorful nice kick to it and was the evenings highlight. For the main we tried the Seared Monkfish which was a disappointment. Bland and boring the surrounding olives were expected to carry this dish. It didn't and the tasteless string beans didn't help. The "Grass Fed Beef Burger" worked but the accompanying home made ketchup (somebody pass the Heinz) didn't. Shared the recommended rice pudding dessert special. The coconut topping with a touch of lemon didn't help - another bland offering. We found the dining area to be dark / dull however our server Stephanie was alert, attentive and all smiles throughout the evening.

I giving 3 stars with the hope I enjoy this place so much I'll return over and over and get to 4 stars. I am the only one sitting at the bar and the bartenders are looking to do anything but talk to me. Maybe it's me? Anyway, the "house" cocktail list sounds better than it tastes. The Sazerac has way too much Absinthe in it and only tastes like licorice. The Old Fashioned was too sweet between the Maple Syrup and the Pumpkin Purée. They look better on paper than they taste in a glass. Anyway, I'll try the food some other time.

So we came here a few weeks back on a Groupon which was a pretty good offer. People may not come here as this restaurant may be perceived solely as a hotel restaurant, but I think it is a bit better than that. How was the F.S.A. (Food, Service, Atmosphere) Food: I had buratta for the appetizer, and it was a nice change of pace from mozzarella. Very delicate and I could have eaten it all day. Entree I had a big pork chop, and despite the thick cut, it was still juicy & tender. Mild flavor. Dessert my wife & I shared an ice cream sampler, which was cute because they each came in their own mini sundae glass. Service: We had a very friendly server - great explaining the menu, came by a couple of times to see how things were. Atmosphere: Plenty of space, but I thought it lacked a bit of character. All in all worth a try, especially if you are a locavore.

Houston...we have a problem. Went there a couple of nights ago since I was in town for work again. We sat at the bar. According to my colleague that is a regular of this place, most of the staff has changed....so the service isn't as good as it used to be. Ok - fine - whatever. I just wanted something to eat and maybe have an adult beverage. So, I ordered my adult beverage and I was talking to my colleague...blah blah blah....when I stopped in the middle of my sentence. Why? There was a roach crawling across the bar...right in front of us. Heebie jeebies. Heebie jeebies. Heebie jeebies. Eew. So, my companion took one of the bar napkins, grabbed it and smushed it. He left it on the bar so that the bartender would see it....but he didn't pay any attention. Finally we called the bartender over and handed him the corpse-laden napkin. The bartender looked horrified...but that's where it ended. No "omg...I' so sorry" or....really.... anything. He disposed of it and that was that. No conversation with a manager, no comp on a drink....nothing...like it never happened. Look - I know roaches and other critters "happen" where there's food...I grew up in an apartment building and I (unfortunately) know about this crap. But no acknowledgement of the nastiness that was a roach on the bar? Yea.....no thanks. I'm officially skeeeved.

Was seated then ignored for 10 minutes. And the staff was surprised I left. Don't go here. Go somewhere where they acknowledge you.

Awful. We were not guests at the hotel, but we live in the area and we're looking for a new place to try for Fathers Day. The service was beyond awful. We were seated right away, but we had to ask the hostess for a high chair for our toddler three times. There was no explanation or apology when she realized she forgot either. We sat for twenty minutes without being approached by anyone on the waitstaff - no coffee, no "I'm sorry we are running behind", nothing. When the hostess finally got our high chair, we told her we were ready to order and she got a waiter who acted incredibly put out. He condescendingly laughed when I asked what their bread choices were (that's a common question, right?). After another five minutes of still not being brought our coffee, we left. The food may be great - I wouldn't know because it was definitely not worth enduring the awful service to try it.

This is by far the W O R S T restaurant that I've been to. Cooper's Mill has great food but the horrible service takes away from it. I attend Mercy College and since on campus housing is full students dorm at the Westchester Marriott. So on those days there isn't any food to eat Cooper's is the go to place for a lot of students. First off students are not allowed to dine inside of the restaurant (unbelievable I know) so we order food and wait outside of the restaurant like unworthy human beings. As soon as the staff notices that you are a Mercy student their demeanor changes. They become very short and rude and can care less if you are waiting 20 years for your food. On the night of February 5th, 2015 I came down stairs tired from a long day of school to order a pizza that they have on the mercy menu. Despite my bad experiences, I figured since I haven't gone in a while the service would be different. Sophia took my order at 8:46. By 9:00 pm I was still waiting for my pizza. Annoyed I finally approached her and asked why the pizza is taking nearly 20 minutes. She goes and checks. 10 minutes later she says that there is a problem with the oven and my pizza is now being made. So for 30 minutes she saw me sitting in the cold hallway and didn't deem it necessary to tell me about the delay. I finally got my pizza at 9:25. After waiting almost a hour for pizza they gave me cans of soda for my wait. I check the box and the pizza was no bigger than the frozen mini Celeste Pizzas that they sell at the Super Market. Frustrated I take the pizza back to Sophia. With an attitude she tells me that this is the new size of the pizza. This sounded like a lie. I told her my roommate got the pizza a few nights ago and it was not this size. She kept saying that this is the new size. I refused to pay for that excuse of a pizza that they were serving so I asked for my money back. I waited almost 45 minutes for a meal that I did not eat. Not even the service at fast food restaurants are this bad. Cooper's Mills is an establishment that is biased against Mercy College Students and they will never get money from me again.

Came here on a Friday night on the early side. Everyone was very friendly and they had a great coloring page with stickers for the kids. The food was good and the wine was lovely. I had the burger which was good and we shared charcuterie plate (tasty). My husband had the chicken with peas- I never thought I'd say this, but there was too much bacon in the peas. Also, The service/kitchen/bar was so slow, there was a really lengthy wait between the appetizer and our entrees. If you are looking for a very leisurely paced meal and have a lot of time to kill this is a good spot.

I was part of a party of six for dinner tonight. Dinner took over 1 hour to be served and it wasn't that busy. I had the burger which was very good. The meat was fresh and cooked as desired (many restaurants can't get medium rare right). While the food was good the service was slow.....too slow. We were there for over 45 minutes waiting for the check.

We have been back several times and it food and service was great. We went back last night to celebrate our 22 wedding anniversary (which I noted on the reservation) and it was a disaster. I made an 8:15 reservation when we arrived we were told it would take 10-15 minutes to set up our table, I was amazed what is the purpose of a reservation any way, we ended up walking leaving and going some where else.

Really surprised that this place is inside the Marriott. I shouldn't be, I mean they also have a Ruth Chris. I'm just not totally used to going to a hotel restaurant, unless it's a last resort. I know, some really great places can be found in the hotels of NYC, but it really isn't a thought. The place itself it really nice. Very rustic vibe to it. It really has that mill look on the inside, with the wood walls and big wood block tables. The place was very clean and had a warm inviting feel. Once inside it's like any other restaurant you might go to. We started off with the calamari which was lightly fried and absolutely delicious. It came with a very tasty and sweet curry, pineapple sauce. It was the perfect starter for a wonderful meal. I got the flounder special. It was a nice big flounder filet, stuffed with spinach and feta. The fish was cooked nicely and the the stuffing was wonderful. It came with a mixed green salad which was also delicious. My girlfriend got the roasted chicken, which came with fresh broccoli and an amazing Italian sausage bread pudding. Yeah I tried it, and wow! We heard that they had great homemade ice cream and were thinking of trying it out. The flavors didn't really jump out at us, but they change frequently. We were very stuffed though anyway and really enjoyed our wonderful meal.

Came here with my parents because they had a Groupon, and was pleasantly surprised by the food! Although many of the appetizers and sandwiches sounded good, we ultimately went with three entrees and two desserts, and all were great! Serving sizes were pretty tiny though, we had to eat plenty of bread to fill up. I got the roasted baby lamp chop, which was delicious, though I was not a fan of the polenta it came with. My mother got the seared diver scallop; I'm usually not a scallop fan, but these were quite good. My dad got the duck breast, which was good but a little overcooked (it was supposedly medium rare, but the outside was borderline burnt). For dessert, we went with the ice cream sampler and the rosemary olive oil cake. The ice cream sampler was ok... I've experienced some great ice creams in my life, and these were good, but wouldn't buy again. The sherbet in particular was meh. The cake was really delicious - I find desserts way too sweet sometimes, but this was just right, and with the interesting additions of rosemary and olive oil flavors. One of the most pleasant aftertastes I've ever had to a dessert. One complaint is that - while the rest of the cake was subtle perfection, the surface had a ridiculously strong sour lemon flavor that was way too overpowering.

I read the reviews on here after we went and I am a little surprised. We had a really cool waiter. We asked about drinks options that weren't so strong because I don't drink. He suggested a Malibu BayBreeze and it was really good. We all ordered crabcakes. My grandpa got the appetizer and my grandma and I got the sandwich. It was very good and I would definitely suggest them. The only downfall was the bread and the ketchup. The bread was harder to eat than stale bread and the ketchup was homemade style. It tasted like it wasn't blended together enough, sort of like tomato paste. And the prices were just a tiny bit high.

Wayyyyyy over priced for the lack of quality food that is served. I ordered the filet mignon which was supposed to come with mashed potatoes and asparagus... The filet was completely overcooked, the mashed potatoes (if that's what you want to call them) was a thin sauce like smear at the bottom of the plate that tasted just like instant potato. And The asparagus was mush. My husband ordered a New York strip steak that came with fries. The steak was way undercooked and the fries were so stale they tasted like they were days old. He ate one and then threw the rest away. We were just craving a nice steak dinner and we decided to spend more than we normally would to have it. We were so disappointed. It was the worst "nice" restaurant I've ever eaten at. And we spent over $70 for just two of us for food that was worse than your local Denny's! If your looking for a nice dinner, please spend your money elsewhere!

I love the Idea of Farm-to-Table but the menu could be revamped. It needs to be. I had the burger it was great. Might have been the only good thing. We were told by a worker not to order the chicken as that was a member of my party's first choice (And I'm grateful that we were told this). Upon being seated by an unfriendly hostess we waited over five minutes for our waters and menus. - The place was empty. The bartender can not make drinks for his life. I ordered an Old Fashion. Standard drink, right? I've had a few variations of this from unseasoned bartenders but this was the worst. Other members of my party were also displeased with their cocktails. We ordered all cocktails right off the short, cocktail menu (even the Old Fashion). Beers were nice and cold and the presentation was aesthetically pleasing on both the drinks and our burgers. I wish this place was better because of it's Farm-to-Table theme. Oh well.

Exceptional service, delicious food, and a nice environment! Already looking forward to going again to try more of the menu!

How come you can not leave zero stars? Worst food for room service. Do not order from this place. Order from Capri down the block or Eldorado diner. The food in room service is horrendous. Every order is wrong. All food cold. All food soggy. Go somewhere else. The chef and managers need training on how to make everything from a hamburger that is not soggy and disgusting to an onion soup that taste like dishwater. TERRIBLE - KEEP AWAY.

We have been to Cooper's Mill a couple of times and were pleasantly surprised. My expectations were low being that this is a hotel restaurant. We are from Washington DC and stay here when we visit relatives and friends in Westchester. We have had drinks and dinner at the bar and seated dinner with my family. The wine selection was very good, service was spot on, food was good and I was actually impressed by the presentation of the food. My daughter is a avid reader of Bon Appetite magazine and even she liked the presentation.
