The best cheap food in Crown Heights. Period. Come here for the breakfast sandwiches - 2 bucks - the homefries - also 2 bucks - or the Philly Cheese steak, Tuna Hoagies, and Fried Chicken. It's classic diner food. If you ever had a shitty atmosphere dingy cheap little diner in your town that you and your friends rolled up to every sunday to lick your hangovers, you will find Sal's home. Don't expect some artisanal shit here. There's no garlic mayo, no pan-roasted palm hearts in apple vinaigrette reduction sauce. Sal's is for people who want to get quick, decent food for cheap. The staff is really nice though, and if you have strange requests, they are more than willing to accomodate. I've even seen people walk up to the counter and ask for a "dollar" of fried chicken, or a "dollar" of mac and cheese. To which the guys took two strips and wrapped them in a paper towel, and cut out a little square and put it in a styrofoam tray. I get the tuna hoagie like every day. It's the best one I've had for 4 dollars and 25 cents. I've had worse that were 6 bucks.

Sal's is great if you know what to expect. This place is a staple of the neighborhood and Sal and his staff are friendly and genuinely seem to be happy to see their client base of regulars. I've been to Sal's many times and I don't think I've ever not seen Sal himself behind the food prep counter. I have never eaten in at Sal's but the dining room smacks of a fast food joint. The food itself, while served quickly, is made to your order by the grill cook. I have had only very tasty sandwiches and breakfast platters from Sal's. That said, while I have never had a bad-tasting meal from Sal's I wouldn't go there if were looking for health food. If you want freshly-prepared, somewhat greasy fare, this place will blow the doors off any chain fast food joint. That said while they prepare everything in front of your eyes, the ingredients themselves are mostly refrigerator or freezer fare and I'm not too sure that you would want to eat a salad that they make there (if they offer salads at all). The prices are tremendous (another place in which Sal's scores over fast food chains) and more in line with cheap delis than a diner or fast food chain. I just got a cheesesteak on a roll and an order of french fries for a total of $3.75. Where else in New York city can you get that good of a deal? If you want fast, genial service of made-to-order greasy fare, Sal's is the place for you.

Sal and staff are great + last of a rare breed - fast and cheap food! Not pinky out at all but quick and easy lunch + lots of breakfast options. My go to for quick eggs and grits after getting home in the wee hours.

Local neighborhood staple spot. Good, cheap breakfast. Perfect for after the club, greasy hangover prevention. Also, much respect to Sal...He's there every morning, at the crack of dawn whipping up these guilty pleasures. With the neighborhood swiftly changing, it's nice that this simple little hole in the wall place can still exist.

They have halal food and there are not many in that area who have halal food. I tried the fried chicken and fries, plenty of sous and taste so good. BUT you have to pay in cash( I don't always have cash on me so that's why I am taking away one of the star)

The breakfast sandwiches are amazing!! I could eat them all day. Ok im exaggerating but excellent and simple flavor in the egg. Definitely going back. Excellent prices as well.

This place is what hungover dreams are made of. It's a neighborhood staple and I hope they never leave. Get the pastrami egg and cheese on a roll, you will not be disappointed. Sal, the owner, is there every morning manning the grill. It's cash only but they have an ATM. Quintessential hole in the wall spot, highly recommend.

Sals is ideal for a quick and dirty cheap breakfast. Sal and his staff are friendly and always chat with you while you wait. Breakfast sandwiches are 2$. Nothing on the menu is more than 5$, making it well worth the visit. Don't go here looking for a lovely brunch, but definitely stop by this neighborhood spot to grab something for the road.

Four stars for what it is. A cheap neighborhood joint with good food. More of a take-out spot, think of Sal's as get in order, get your food get out. If you're by yourself and it's not after 2:00 PM on a school day you might consider eating in the dark and dingy "dining" area in the back, which after 2:00 PM is inhabited by locals, HS students, and the average hooligan/thug/whatever you prefer to call them. So the food is great, the fried fish is out of this world. you can get it on a roll for $3.00 or on a Hero for $3.75/$4.00. I get it with lettuce & tomato, tartar sauce and hot sauce, and that's all you need. I've seen people getting it on white or wheat bread, I take the roll or hero because it's much more fulling. So check it out and they sell breakfast sandwiches, and burgers, and food, but don't ever think this is the typical dine-in restaurant because you will be disappointed among other things.

3.5 Stars.* There are some mornings when one throws health concerns to the wind and, on a glorious Spring day with dreams of Prospect Park at the forefront of our minds, we decided to commit to the most comforting of foods: a bacon, egg and cheese bagel from Sal's. Call it what you will: hole-in-the-wall, cheap thrills, cheap and cheerful - this is not a destination restaurant, nor is it stellar in any regard but, let me assure you, when you live around the corner and need sustenance on a Saturday morning, as you scurry off to the park to picnic upon a hillock, this ooey-gooey, cheesy delight does the trick. Yes, grease will flow down your hands like the rivers of Babylon but isn't that the point? Crisp turkey bacon, oily eggs and melted cheese on a buttered bagel - the simple pleasure, dear Yelpers, the simple pleasures. Conclusion: A sophisticated dining excursion is great, but sometimes one craves good "bad food." Yes, it is akin to those times where you find yourself in an airport in the middle of nowhere and you are forced to take a trip to McDonald's. If you maintain any semblance of humanity, you find that - despite your better judgment - you love it, for in that instant you capture the joys of your unselfconscious youth - the pleasure of cheap and greasy food. Sal's captures precisely the same emotions and so, if you take it for what it is (a fast-food hole-in-the-wall take-out joint), the product is nothing short of a joy. _____________________________________________________________ *In the class of cheap take-out establishments.

I've only been twice and just ordered coffee and an egg and cheese on a roll to go, but so far the service has been friendly even if slightly harried and these guys know their business. There's a good reason it's packed most mornings with everyone shouting out their orders and getting in each other's way. Basic but delicious. I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu. Thank you Sal!
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
