Had reservations here for a Friday night for a group of 6, but we still ended up waiting for about an hour before they finally made up a table for us. We passed by the time by knocking back grapefruit vodkas. Space is rather limited, and I felt cramped at times... BUT once we were seated, that's when the show started. We did a family style session of hot and cold. Fresh lobster tails with chunks of meat, huge plate of charcuterie with large slices of super fresh proscuitto (and I LOVE proscuitto), calamari, risotto etc. My friend and I shared the linguine with clam sauce, and when we told them we were going to split the plate, they brought it out to us in two separate bowls with all the appropriate garnishing so we didn't have to go through the trouble. So considerate! Heads up: They like to do their foods salty, and I mean salty. Proscuitto is meant to be heavy on the sodium, but they have a generous hand on everything as well.

Very old school feeling, but nice. Lots of complimentary bread and the pasta was good.

Stuffed veal chop, ribsteak, pasta. You can't go wrong. One of my favorite local spots. Been going for years. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is classic New York, and chatting with Sal is always an added benefit.

I can't believe I've been here 10 years and have only now found this restaurant. It's a real gem. The food is fantastic: good, honest-to-goodness Italian food that's well-prepared and nicely presented. A wood-paneled room that feels a bit like a supper club or a classy speakeasy. Super-attentive (tuxedoed!) service. Strong drinks about as big as a fishbowl! And they say -- though I have yet to test them -- that they'll make anything you want. Just ask. (I'll try that next time!) This is not an ultratrendy spot -- and thank God. It's a nice, classy place for adults to have a meal and a good time. Here's to you, Volare!

Brought here by other Yelp reviews, my wife and I came here for our anniversary and were not disappointed. I recognized many of the wines on the wine list (from having purchased them in wine shops) and was happy to see that the markup was lower than I usually see, so we grabbed a bottle of Montepulciano. The lobster tails, shrimp, calamari and clams (well, we asked to swap out the clams, so they doubled up on the shrimp), were really fabulous. Shared the chopped salad and pasta. Cannoli for dessert. So the food was really good -- but what my wife and I liked most was that the place was so unpretentious. The service was genuine and attentive, and nothing felt forced. It was the perfect place to take my wife for a chill evening in the village.

Went again. Can't help it. This time my whole party was and is still raving about the lasagna! Cheesy, meaty, flavorful. Like my mother would have cooked if she was Italian (and a world class chef!). Go! You WILL thank me. Really. You will. Did I mention they make the best (and possibly biggest) Rib eye steak this side of the San Andreas Fault? Go!

Perfect Italian food. Amazing quality and great waitstaff. Waitstaff is very professional yet have a great sense of humor. The food was cooked to perfection and all guests were pleased. I love the location off of the street. The owner is extremely generous and welcoming. There is no doubt that I will be returning.

This is the last of those wonderful nyc old-school village italian restaurants of the type in the movie Moonstruck. At turns romantic, at turns festive, this place is just superb! The kind owner greets all regulars personally and remembered us well even though we hadn't been by for a long stretch. The food is great--all the traditional Italian specialties you would want. The stuffed veal chop is a favorite. They pour a great-not stingy-glass of Chianti. With that and the sinatra crooning in the background, this place is hard to beat.

I recently had a private lunch with a group of NYU students here, and we were completely blown away by the food & the service. All of the pasta dishes were amazing. The Farfalle Norcino and the Penne con Porcini alla Piedmontese were my personal favorites. Every bite is savory, creamy, and to die for. I have never been to an italian restaurant that has served such quality pasta. When it came to desserts, we were able to have a little bit of everything- carrot cake, ice cream, tiramisu, eclairs... you name it! They were all made to perfection and the taste was impeccable. While this place is quite pricey, EVERYONE must come here at least once. Volare is a secret gem in the heart of Greenwich Village, and they deserve to be known by all New Yorkers!

Went back after a few years and it was better than ever, pushing 5 stars...Great service, great food. They will make you any dish you want so don't worry about the menu. Sal is a good man and runs a nice business.

Just fantastic! Great location in west Village but instead of crowded tables right on top of the people next to you, you get a spacious booth with privacy. It made dinner so much more pleasant. My salmon was massive and delicious. The dessert tray is so beautiful you want them all! They even gave us free sambuca at the end of the meal. Extremely friendly service, great portion size for a reasonable price, yummy food and a relaxed/intimate atmosphere in the midst of one of Manhattan's best neighborhoods.

This Volare is a very special place. I came here with my boyfriend for my birthday dinner. I actually feel bad for ever giving another establishment five stars because I've never been anywhere to equal it. My BF's boss recommended it, so I figured we'd go when we went to NYC in November. I think what sticks out the most for me are the people. Mind you I have been served very, very well before, usually at places where I'm with someone who is a regular/ is known to tip extravagantly. And, I have been to some pretty exclusive VIP places too. However, this time it was just me and the boyfriend: two kids in their 20s trying to make ends meet (I'm a Ph.D student) so not exactly the type you'd look at and expect a lot of money/ tip if you know what I mean. (The only reason I could actually afford this place is because my mom actually sent me a few $$ so I could go out for dinner.) Anyway, the food was fantastic- best rigatoni vodka I've had, and the house wine was unbelievable. Rather large glass by the way! The staff was so kind and really treated us like we were special, just like we came there everyday and spent lots of money. After our dinner, they offered dessert and after dinner drinks on the house! Our waiter even took our picture (which I have framed) and wished us well on our trip back home. Awww. That's what made it for me. That they were willing to treat us like were mattered, just like any other customer. Not only that, they by far exceeded expectations with the dessert and limoncello. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in NYC. Of course, after I've saved up for it! Ps. The building and restaurant have a great history. Lillian Russell, the famous Saratoga socialite of the Victorian era used to live upstairs ;-) hence the old-fashioned burlesque paintings on the wall.

The smell of wine and garlic along with some older happy chatty new yorkers emerged from the stairs of this basement restaurant and I got my hopes up. Atmosphere and decor leaned toward a classic 60s old school Italian place. Film a movie here but I wouldn't recommend it for dinner. My risotto and sauce were tasty and creamy but the asparagus and shrimp were diced up into tiny pieces that didn't seem worthy of the $18 entree price. House glass wine was $12. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing or maybe the lack of bad reviews on yelp are from fear of getting "ya legs chopped off and thrown inta da Hudson."

Three stars for the food, which is good, but nothing special. One star off for service. We asked twice for the wine list but still had to wait 10+ minutes, then the server reprimanded us for not being specific enough (we wanted wines by the glass). Pluses: entrees are large, and a glass of house wine is the size of two glasses. Minuses: large TV playing; moth ball smell. Regulars of this restaurant probably have nice dinners here, but for the uninitiated, it is nothing special.

Loved this place! My husband is from NYC but lives out of state now, and his mother actually grew up in the West Village. Out of all the places we've eaten in the city, we'd never been here. We just discovered this place because our friends referred us. The food is amazing! The wine was great. The staff was very friendly. Great atmosphere. Clean. Romantic. We had numerous courses and everything was fantastic. This will now be a go-to place for us when we visit NYC. A real gem.

All my comments from my previous review remain. This is still an old school Italian with personal service that makes you feel like family. I don't recommend coming here "pre-theatre" since a meal at Volare tends to be leisurely and the main focus of the evening itself. Only the finest ingredients are used, and the kitchen makes each dish to order. My only caveat is that this is a traditional Italian restaurant so you wont find any "Nouvelle" cuisine here, although the outstanding Insalada Volare may be the one exception. However, for what it is, Volare is a true gem.
(5)
Robin K.
I can't say enough about Volare. If there is an Italian meal you want just order it, it doesn't matter if it is on the menu or not. They will make you anything. They always pour a drink the way a drink should be poured, no half glasses of wine. The old world atmosphere is wonderful as is the service. We have been coming here for so long if our daughter isn't with us, the entire staff will ask how she is.

Great spot when you want a good food with a low noise level. The staff never rushes you out and are very attentive. The food is good and the seafood hot antipasto is a much order. They always offer complimentary after dinner drinks which is a nice touch. But, the best part is if you show up at 7 pm you can still be sitting there taking up real estate at 11 pm. It is great place to hang as no one is pushing for your table. It's a classic.

If, while in Greenwich Village, you are looking for good, hearty Italian fare in a homey environment, this is the place! More than just the food, which is off-the-boards terrific, the atmosphere is lovely. Whether at a table(for a large party) or a hand-carved wooden booth for an intimate supper, you are welcomed into this bistro as if you were an old, dear friend and they look forward to making your meal a comfortable experience. You dine under tin-ceilings decorated with twinkling white lights; you are surrounded by dozens of selections of wine bottles with antique etchings on the walls like a true, turn-of-the century New York Italian bistro. Expect to be greeted with a smile, served by a knowledgable and friendly staff, and to have your wine hand-delivered to the table by one of the owners. Portions are plentiful, and be sure to leave room for cappuccino and one of the superior desserts. Finally, as silly a detail as this may seem, when was the last time you dined in a NYC restaurant where even the busboys all had crisply laundered white shirts? That is the kind of pride that this establishment takes in letting you know that your meal is as special to them as it is to you.

They were highly recommended by a good friend and they did not disappoint. It's true Italian at its best. No menu needed. You'll be asked what you would like dinner this evening....and they will make it for you. It's a throwback and nostalgic experience. You step inside to a era perhaps most well know from mafia movies....time and the hectic pace of New York slow down. You will enjoy one of NY greatest throwback dining experiences. I'll be back on my next visit....tough guy.

First time here in, probably, 15 years. The food is still awesome. You don't even need a menu -- just kinda-sorta tell the waiter what you feel like having and -- POOF -- the perfect meal. Old style service. Very professional. Very friendly. Nice and quiet -- you can actually have a conversation with your meal-mates without screaming. Crowd is typical suits with expense accounts. Very laid back. Not pretentious. A little pricey but well worth it.

Quaint little Italian place. The service was great and oh so charming. Eggplant rollatini was the highlight, the rest of the meal was just ok in my books. They encourage you to order anything you like and they'll make it. The downside is you get a surprise bill and some of the pricing was higher than I thought it should have been. I would go back for the eggplant for sure!

Hot and cold appetizers for the table are a must. Then ask for the macaroni with chopped sausage (off the menu special). Veal Parm, franchaise and all pastas are great.

Wonderful old time restaurant in Greenwich Village. Service was top notch and the Maitre D' stopped by the table throughout the meal; nice touch. I had a Caesar salad to start with a daily special of eggplant parmigiana; absolutely delightful and well prepared. Good wine selection and homemade tiramisu with a cup of fine brewed java to end the meal. Perfect dining experience!

Another visit to my father's favorite restaurant in New York City did not disappoint. Yet another fine experience with Sal, Falco, and crew on Saturday night. A warm, cozy space on the ground floor just steps away from the bustle of Sixth Avenue. Although not a lot of extra room, it is a place where you can relax! Reliable, consistent, and well-executed southern Italian cuisine, highlighted by friendly and accommodating service. Although the restaurant has earned a large group of regulars, first time customers will feel equal warmth from the staff. A menu is available, but unnecessary given the array of specials and the ability of the kitchen to accommodate requests and substitutions. Portions are substantial but not overwhelming. Hearty, but not too heavy. Start with some of the simple, yet excellent pasta courses for your first course and then take in a meat or fish dish for an entree. Risotto dishes are regularly ordered at our table. Stuffed veal and pork chops are particularly well executed and their straightforward grilled fish presentations can be tweaked for different tastes. Mixed seafood appetizers (baked clams, fried or grilled calamari, grilled shrimp, and small grilled/baked lobster tails) for the table are worth the modest splurge. The wine list is small and mostly contains current vintages of well-known names, but it has reliable choices at each price point and good value on the lower end of the spectrum. Mixed drinks are poured short and after-dinner drinks are encouraged, so pace yourself! Deserts are simple, classic Italian and are just the right portion size after a multi-course meal. I recommend the tiramisu. As usual, we left satisfied. I trust that you will as well.

Simple Classic Italian food. Nothing fancy about this place as its in its original decor from forever ago. The classic homey feel makes this place. I wouldn't want it any other way. The owner is so nice. There is no menu & you order what you want. Very typical Italian, no fancy different dishes. Everything is excellent as if there's a little old Italian grandma cooking in the back.

Wow is the place something. Walking down the steps into the quaint, homey, Italian-style dining room sets the tone for the entire experience. We had someone in our group of nine who was a regular and knew exactly what to order, so we didn't even bother with the menu. First, we started with a seafood platter which was pretty good. The fried calamari was definitely the highlight. Then came a sample plate with three pastas, the best of which was fusilli in a spicy tomato sauce. Then came the meats. The best was veal in sun-dried tomato sauce. To finish of the meal they brought out this incredibly beautiful desert tray. I had the tiramisu, which was a great choice. Overall, the vibe is perfect for this kind of local, hole-in-the-wall place. And the food is to die for. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again! Also, the bread basket was excellent was well. Fresh, crisp, and very flavorful - just like good bread should be!

I never met more disgusting people than the owners of that place, they really don't care about nothing else than the money they make there. The place is filthy and food is so so. Forget about it.

Absolutely DELICIOUS, great ambiance, true Italian dining experience. I'm taking off one star because we didn't get menus which really dupped us into a tasting menu that turned out to be very expensive... that said, I'm going back this Saturday because I can't stop thinking of the wonderful food and huge glasses of wine!!

Love the atmosphere of this old-school Italian restaurant. I just met friends there for drinks but most tables were already filled with diners by 6:30pm on a Wednesday. The entrees looked pretty large, so bring your appetites... Service was very efficient and the main bartender / manager Sal was very friendly and made his rounds to greet all the regulars. Great spot to meet for drinks or dinner.

To be honest, I went to Volare because my professor recommended it. I had higher expectations, but they weren't met. The food was scrumptious! However, the service wasn't that great. One con- I was charged an extra $10.00 for some odd reason, but luckily, that was fixed! I probably won't go back, but it was a decent experience.
Best Italian place in the city. The staff is so friendly and remembers me every time I go in there. Not just hi how are you, but specific questions about things I told them last time I was in. Food is great, drinks are great, location is great, people are great. Highly recommend.

Saturday night is not the best night to eat out, but we went anyway. The ambiance is old school Italian, Pleasant American Songbook, and lots of regulars. The bread was good, crusty and plentiful. The baked clams were also good, six for an appetizer. The wine by the glass was relatively expensive for a standard red ($12), but was filled to the brim. The linguine vongole was too salty, and the linguine was undercooked, and some were tough. The chicken parmesean was excellent. One of the best I've had and was moist but fried crispy as it should. . It came with pasta, but for $24 was on the expensive side. The tartufo for desert was standard. The service was just ok, and was very slow. The bill came to over $100 with tip, so it wasn' t cheap.

Volare is a case study in a satisfying dining experience. This hole-in-the-wall Italian gem came highly recommended and lived up to every expectation. The space is very intimate and warm, walls covered in standard Italian kitsch. The waiters are fantastic: funny, helpful, and neither too intrusive or frustratingly absent. And who could ask for a better bread basket? Be sure not to fill up before your entree arrives. Having sampled a bit off other people's plates during my two visits, I can safely recommend the veal, chicken, and meatballs. It's all incredibly delicious, and leaves you with an indelibly happy NY memory.

You know it's a great place when a menu isn't offered. After pouring you a large cocktail, the waiter tells the offerings of the night. The seafood appetizer is the way to go. The entire experience is great although a bit expensive.

A trip to Volare is a trip back into the men's club of the Madison Avenue days. As you approach this small brownstone basement, do not be surprised if you see a bunch of men in suits outside enjoying mid-meal cigars. Walk down the steps and into a dining room that screams old New York Italian. Volare really is the epitome of traditional Italian cuisine. The staff makes you feel like part of the family, stopping by to say hello and provide recommended bottles of Chianti. My company decided to have its holiday dinner at Volare, which paid off as a delicious and fun destination. Our meal started with a mediocre and acidic Chianti, but their large wine list enabled us to trade up for one of the best Cabernets I have ever tried. Their bread baskets included crisp sesame bread sticks and fresh Italian bread with aa moist, doughy center and crunchy crust. The Antipasto Caldo was a large seafood assortment, offering crisp shrimp cocktail, cheesy baked clams, fresh lobster, and fried calamari. The found the calamari extremely greasy, but the rest of the platter was delicious. The Antipasto Freddo was a delightful blend of Italian meats, cheeses, and peppers. After we had enjoyed some appetizers and wine, we decided to share several large entrees. The Chicken Parmigiana was topped with a sweet tomato sauce. The breaded Veal Cutlets were tender, but a bit over-fried. The Veal Shank had been braised, leaving moist meat that melted in your mouth. The Penne with Porcini Mushrooms had a very light sauce that was both reassuring to the diet, but lacking in substance at the same time. The desserts were spectacular. I am very particular when it comes to tiramisu, however this was more of a decadent mousse than dry cake. I could not stop myself from reaching for more. The carrot and chocolate cakes were also terrific, exuding moist freshness. Our meal concluded with bottles of Limoncello, Frangelico, and Gran Mariner, a lovely way to unwind after such a high-powered meal. As the evening went on, this homey, family-style environment lost its inhibitions, as a random woman from a nearby table decided to delight some of the suited businessmen while dancing on their table. Quite interesting...but that just goes to show you, a good meal (and some wine) can excite even the most buttoned up and traditional places.

Old school Italian at this joint. Fish bowl drinks and unhealthy portion sizes. Get the hot and cold appetizers to start... Follow it with a stuffed veal chop. Only draw back is the bathrooms. 1 urinal in the men's room and toilet that is as old as the building the restaurant resides in.
(4)
Denean P.
This is a place with an old school vibe, great food and fantastic service. Go here and have your waiter suggest a great meal. Get a lovely wine pairing and sit back and relax. After your meal, if you are lucky, they'll bring you some after dinner drinks, usually lemoncello or sambuca. This is an old world restaurant that is not to be missed.

Stepping into Volare felt like I was walking onto a movie set....old style italian. The service was amazing, I kept waiting for the waiter to put the food in my mouth - they did everything else. The service was awesome and so was the food. There were 5 of us so we ordered an assortment to share/family style. Yes, it was expensive...Yes, well worth it!!

Pasta-Pasta-Pasta!!!!!! Fantastic Italian food done the right way. The "Gravy" was excellent and the service is outstanding. Try the Pork Chops with hot cherry peppers and a side of Gravy(sauce).

It is so easy to walk by Volares and not see it - slightly downstairs on West 4th street near busy 6th Avenue. But if you do enter, you will find a cozy, warm and accommodating restaurant with delicious food, ample drinks and a great bar. I have been to Volares many times and especially love their pasta piedmont style, veal any way they prepare it and the volare salad. And dining companions rave about their great osso buco and other pasta offerings. The glasses of chianti are generous and the dining experience is relaxing, although it can get a little noisy when it gets crowded. What more can I say? Try it yourself.
(5)
Simon L.
Old school,, baby. Definitely worth a visit. Enormous drinks, great interior and atmosphere, but if you're brave, the best thing is not needing a menu - just ask the staff what's good and they'll cook you something special. The Osso Bucco is especially good.

We tried Perla and couldn't get in and this was the next choice. I found this place odd. Our waiter was a little passive-aggressive- seemed to be disappointed we didn't all have starters. Decor was frumpy. Wine list did not include wines by the glass and when we asked waiter he just gave us a choice by grape variety. Food itself was fine but just ok - there are much better options at this price in NYC. Best bit was we could get in.

The punched tin ceiling, which is original, the heavy darkwood walls and bow-tied wait staff are just a few of the touches that make Volare so charming. (A short flight of stairs takes you to the birthplace of the Whitney Museum.) The northern Italian fair is equally comforting. Veal is prominently featured, and the menu is replete with such classics baked clams, grilled Bronzino (sea bass) and lentil soup. Diners who are serious about their steak, but cannot convinve all their family and friends to go to a steakhouse will be pleased. Daily risotto and seafood dishes work well, too. The wine list is not superb but easily navigated. The history is as rich as the tiramisu.

We came here for a big, noisy family sit-down dinner. We received excellent service, delicious food and extra attention from the waitstaff. The hot and cold appetizers were tasty and the entrees were enormous. The osso buco was especially tasty; the shrimp fra diavolo was also worth coming in for. They will serve you an after dinner drink on the house--limoncello, frangelico, amongst others--which is wonderful.
(5)
Sara L.
Wow! Although the wait staff didn't seem very lively or friendly, the smell emanating from the restaurant was enough for our noses to know we'd eat well. My lady had the gnocci with (I think it was pork) ragout, which was stunningl The ragout was tender, wonderful, and tasted like the greatest friggin Italian stew EVER. Them gnocci were just extras! Four stars for that dish. My bucatini were very nice as well, if a little heavy on the cream. I'd rather it have been a little more tomato-y, as the richness of the cream was a little too much. But both dishes were super tasty! My only complaint is that there was no spaghetti and meatballs on the menu!

Surprising to hear all the rave reviews of this place Have been here to eat multiple times and each time I have left more disappointed than the last Pastas are generally overcooked. Seafood is rubbery and meat is similar to the low quality cuts you see over at Food Emporium.
(1)
Yan T.
Although our waiter was Albanian, the place was bona fide Italian. Some of the friendliest service in NYC, totally devoid of pretension. Had the osso buco, which was huge and filling, but they'll cook anything on- or off-menu. The risotto is also very good, creamy and melting in your mouth. We also got complimentary sambuca and other after-dinner drinks. I don't know if I'd make this a destination, but it is a good neighborhood restaurant.

Old school Italian restaurant. Very friendly manager and staff, lots of regular customers, but they chat and enjoy the irregulars too. Good food. They have a menu but as we learned on our first visit they relish informing you "This is Volare - you can have whatever you want" and indeed they'll cook whatever you want.
(4)
Mr P.
This place has the best osso bucco in the world. Okay, may be I have exaggerated a bit, but it is at least the best I ever had. I pretty much came here just for the osso bucco every time I visit NYC. One time thought I try something different, well guess what, I almost can't finish the mushroom salad and that was just the salad. I watch all the dishes that the waiters brought out, the portions are very large. May be they only look large to me because I am used to the tiny portions they serve here in SF. Anyway, the place is very old time. Waiters are friendly and helpful. House wine is descent enough so that you don't have to look through the wine list unless you want something special.

Where do I start. Volare is an amazing experience from start to finish and in every aspect of the culinary experience. Volare's has always been a big hangout for the Financial Printing community and for good reason. Great food, creative dishes, Wonderful staff who treat you like family. I live in Hong Kong now and go here when I come back for Christmas. Nothing like coming in from the cold to a very warm, friendly and cozy atmosphere. Sal never forgets a name or face and treats everyone like royalty. Every friend I have been to Volare's with has loved this place. It's truly great to come home where most things have changed and find a place you love that is still the same. Sal and Falco, I'll be in NYC for Christmas and looking forward to introducing my wife to Volare's. Absolutely great food and amazing service.

This is a comfortable small local Italian joint that has been around for many years. I might not have discovered it if someone I know did not grow up right around the corner. In a way it is a walk back in time that hopefully will not cave in to modernization. The first time I ever went, they had a Chicken Rollatini that was out of this world. The next time I went, I did not see it on the menu or as a special and I was very disappointed. I decided to really test them and ordered it anyway! To my surprise, Sal took the order without hesitation! Being that the meal was designed ad-hoc, it was not entirely the same but still very good and I give them a lot of credit for doing this. I went one time around the holidays and everyone was given a present-a wrapped up bottle of olive oil that turned out to be delicious. They also had some live music to make the restaurant even more festive. The rest of the appetizers were very good but the overall service from Sal and his staff made for a great time.

There is nothing more that I can add that hasn't already been mentioned within the other reviews. Both food and service are superb. Nothing trendy or hip just old school cooking and a staff that makes you feel welcome from the moment you get in the door. Go with a group or for an intimate dinner for two. It truly is the best.

(4)James S.
Stuffed veal chop, ribsteak, pasta. You can't go wrong. One of my favorite local spots. Been going for years. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is classic New York, and chatting with Sal is always an added benefit.
(5)Brad D.
(5)Michael L.

Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Highly recommend to anyone looking for Italian food in the west village
(4)Carlos S.
Go!
(5)Rae S.
(5)James B.
(5)Carolynn C.

(4)Stacy L.
(5)David R.
Going there for years. For those who prefer to eat rather than dine! Consistent, excellent food and service. Kitchen will make anything you want. Extraordinary pasta. Comfortable, neighborhood environment.
(5)Peter D.
love this place! have come here for my birthday dinner last two years now. classic old-school italian ambiance and delicious food! the staff are very friendly, and offered us complimentary after dinner drinks. one of my fave places to eat in the neighborhood
(5)Rebecca R.
(5)Scott L.
(2)Anthony H.
(2)Lindsey G.
A real gem.
(5)Bob G.
(5)Robin K.
(5)Jeffrey W.
Oh my god! The best lamb shank I ever had. Had a wonderful meal and all in my party agreed! Will definitely be coming back; soon.
(5)Lisa Y.
(4)Neil S.
(5)Jeff P.
(5)Lou G.
(4)Kendra A.
(3)Jim S.
Hot and cold appetizers for the table are a must. Then ask for the macaroni with chopped sausage (off the menu special). Veal Parm, franchaise and all pastas are great.
(4)Michael G.
(5)Dave N.
(5)Victoria J.
Love the place! My parents have been taking me here since I was a baby. Never disappointed!
(5)K M.
(5)Neil D.
incredible selection. Everything is great! Don't ask for menu, instead explain what you want and they will work with you to make your meal - YOURS. Never found a better place!
(5)Victoria W.
Great food as well as very kind and attentive service. Really enjoyed it there! I can recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a high-quality Italian meal in a nicely setting.
(4)Carter R.
(5)Ruben M.
I never met more disgusting people than the owners of that place, they really don't care about nothing else than the money they make there. The place is filthy and food is so so. Forget about it.
(1)Cate D.
(4)Meghan G.
(4)Jimmy S.
Great old school place. Amazing service and good food. I always look forward to my boss taking the team there. No menus, just order what you want and they make it for you. I like the veal shank, very nice.
(4)Eric P.
I gotta say I was so stuffed last night with the food and faulco treating me and my Guest like rock stars he gave us exclusive meals anything we wanted he cooked from scratch we didn't use any menus so you already know I ate like a king from eating lobster all the way to a delicious skirt steak I say for all you Italian pasta lovers I recommend this place to you and your friends ask for faulco he is awesome he would make you feel at home thanks Again faulco....
(5)Colleen C.
(3)Maria L.
A quiet, definitely not hip or happening place. Décor is pretty dated, dark wood paneled walls, tables with white tablecloth, Christmas lights and fake plants for decoration. Waiters in tuxedos, the same ones they wear in diners. Definitely for an older crowd. Food was good, very straight forward. I enjoyed my risotto with asparagus.
(2)Mary J.
Best Italian place in the city. The staff is so friendly and remembers me every time I go in there. Not just hi how are you, but specific questions about things I told them last time I was in. Food is great, drinks are great, location is great, people are great. Highly recommend.
(5)Jerry F.
(3)Andrew J.
(5)Paul S.
Best Italian in the Village hands down, possibly the entire city.
(5)James S.
You know it's a great place when a menu isn't offered. After pouring you a large cocktail, the waiter tells the offerings of the night. The seafood appetizer is the way to go. The entire experience is great although a bit expensive.
(4)Carole B.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere charming and the service was great. Go and try it for yourself
(4)Alison C.
(4)Alex C.
(4)Denean P.
(5)anita r.
(4)Charles G.
Pasta-Pasta-Pasta!!!!!! Fantastic Italian food done the right way. The "Gravy" was excellent and the service is outstanding. Try the Pork Chops with hot cherry peppers and a side of Gravy(sauce).
(5)Charlene L.
(5)Simon L.
Old school,, baby. Definitely worth a visit. Enormous drinks, great interior and atmosphere, but if you're brave, the best thing is not needing a menu - just ask the staff what's good and they'll cook you something special. The Osso Bucco is especially good.
(4)Scott E.
(3)Kevin K.
(4)Mike P.
(5)Sara L.
(4)Jonathan E.
Surprising to hear all the rave reviews of this place Have been here to eat multiple times and each time I have left more disappointed than the last Pastas are generally overcooked. Seafood is rubbery and meat is similar to the low quality cuts you see over at Food Emporium.
(1)Yan T.
(4)Port D.
(4)Mr P.
(4)Anthony L.
(5)Anthony C.
(5)Diane D.
(5)Chinku G.
Food, Service, owner are all the best in this quaint Italian restuarant. 7-8 years of trying every place in NYC and I just keep coming back to Volare. Hard to beat.
