High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. this place is cool but it lacks identity. Food has never disappointed but the menu is a mix between great bar food and wanna be high end manhattan dining. Needs to simplified. Brunch is great but they need better specials, i mean i can head up the block and get unlimited brunchs drinks with great food. The majority of the staff is awesome, always had a great time for weekends with Jackie and Carol-anne behind the bar and during the week Trish and Taylor will take good care of you. Cant say the same of the rest of the staff, a little rude and unattentive, good luck getting a drink with the girl with the tattoos behind the bar, might need to light a bonfire to get her attention. Overall this place is still in a winner in my book, they just need to adjust a little

Nice draft menu, pints seem a bit small. Service is spotty, bartender never came by, waited for table service instead which was good. Yuppy crowd. Nice sound system, clean bathrooms. I would go back to watch another sports game, but there are also many other places in Astoria to go to as well. I didn't order food, but it's a pretty standard kind of boring menu. When you are competing with gastro pubs like Sweet Afton you really have to work on your menu and make sure it doesn't look like a chain restaurants.

went here one night - it was 'fine' - $3 red stripes, not bad! came back another night - INSANE. was seated by the host - waitress came over with menus - THEN SHE NEVER CAME BACK. we sat there for 15 minutes, the last of which we watched her just stand there staring off into space. we all got up...put on our coats...and LEFT. the even more frustrating thig is that we all WALKED RIGHT BY HER...she said nothing. the end.

i love how festive it was inside during christmas, which was the only reason why i chose to eat at this place for dinner. but don't go here for the food because it's just your run-of-the-mill bar food. it looks like a great spot to grab a drink though!

The staff and the bartenders were all nice and very friendly. I asked what they had on tap, and what our bartender recommended and he gave me a taste of both. As such, I discovered a great new beer today (Purple Haze!). My friend and I sat at the bar, and had wings and chili fries. The wings were very good but the chili fries were just average. Nothing to rave about, but I would come back again for the atmosphere, a pint, and to watch a basketball game.

This is a great bar, and it features THE BEST TRIVIA NIGHT in Queens! It's Tuesday nights at 7 in the upstairs 'attic,' and it's FREE (unlike some other bars in the area). It's a great time every week and there are fun prizes and drink specials. Raven's Head also has movie nights, live music, DJ,and a great happy hour.

Seems like this will be an up-and-coming establishment for the young professionals crowd in Astoria. This review is based on my experience from this past Saturday night around 10PM. After a movie, we wanted to try a new spot nearby in Astoria, but didn't feel like any cuisine in particular, so decided to go to Raven's Head for some bar food. The place is separated into two distinct sections (it also has an upstairs that can be rented out for events I believe); the bar is in the front, filled with 20- and 30-somethings spread out around the bar top and some scattered tables, blasting the songs you'd hear on the popular radio stations. Once you walk through the bar area and by the kitchen, the dining room sits in the back with a decent amount of tables, one large projector screen for big games, and a few more up on the walls. There's also a large fireplace (not sure if it's working) and some other interior aspects that give it a warm feel. Since it was past 10PM on a Saturday night, some of the loud music did spread to the dining room a bit, but it certainly wasn't overpowering. In terms of food, everything we had was quite good, albeit a little pricey. We started with an order of nachos, which was piled high and pretty standard. For our entrees, I had the Chicken Pot Pie, which I'd definitely recommend and my girlfriend ate the Shepherd's Pie, which I enjoyed as well based on the few bites I got to have. Between the fact that it is a pub in Astoria and the food was nothing incredible, I was a little surprised by the prices, but it was nothing outrageous. In terms of drinks, there are about two dozen beers on tap with more in the bottle, but no real stand-outs. If you're looking for good beer on tap in the area, head to MexiQ. Overall, I'd definitely return to this place to hang out at the bar, which seemed very lively with a good crowd, or to watch a game.

Food was good but the service wasn't that great. Understand that its a fairly new place and they might be under staffed, but the waitor we had for a party of 6 was horrible. When I asked for a dessert menu he said to ask my waitor, which was him! Very rude and wouldn't let me put desserts on a separate tab because it was too much work. He forgot our drinks numerous times and had to keep asking. The service is really why I gave this place 2 stars.

Very disappointing! Food took over an hour to be served and we are talking breakfast here. Waiter was overwhelmed dealing with the upset customers and too many tables. Kitchen was obviously unprepared. We will not be back.

Great new place !!!!!!I have eaten here numerous times and each time was perfect .Also took my dad for lunch he loved it too! All the bartenders and servers are fun and friendly .Pricilla ,Bretlin and Scott are my favorites so i was upset to see some not so nice reviews . Its hard enough to open a new business and people are posting unkind things .Use your common sense before you write something negative did you talk to person ,manager or owner to resolve your problem or dislikes . if i came to your job to review you how would you fair? Ending on a positive note you will love Ravenshead a city feel and look so why leave Astoria .?

Amazing brunch at an amazing price. We had steak and eggs and the two eggs brunch. Free bloody Mary's and Mimosas along with it. Great atmosphere, a real gem in Astoria.

This is probably one of my favorite places for Happy Hour in Astoria. 2$ sliders and 3$ Bud, Bud Light Draft and PBR 16oz cans. The Beer is always cold and fresh, the music is always chill and the Bartenders are always pleasant. M-F 4-7P you can always find a good seat. Football season can be crazy especially when the Giants are playing. I bet Baseball Season will be nice as well. Check this place out if you havent, its pretty nice and they have decent food as well. I will def be back!

The food is good and the atmostphere is fun but there is one waiter there who always seems to be annoyed, never there when you need your drink refilled or something is wrong with your food. And always makes you feel like you're bothering him. Chip on his shoulder that makes it uncomfortable to dine there. Left our food in the window where we could see it for a long time.

  • Thomas K.

I like the place. The food is OK. They have a great sound system. Unfortunately, on occasion they seem to blast it way too loud. Seriously, I never complained about music being too loud but the equipment they have in there can easily puncture someone's ear drum.

Great place!!! I've been here a few times and it keeps getting better. They've only been opened a couple months & I think in the very beginning, had a few kinks to work out. They are definitely doing it! There is a lot of room, bar in front, dining room in rear and another room upstairs, which you can rent out for private parties. The staff is warm and friendly and the food is really good. I was surprised I figured typical pub grub but it's so much better. Love the wings, calamari, steak salad, fish tacos, burgers.... Only had to wait a long time once but overheard that they had some staff out sick. That can happen anywhere. If you went when they first opened or had a not great experience, give them another try. It is a wonderful place and just what Astoria needs. If you don't you're missing out!

I have only been here on Tuesday nights for Trivia. The bar is based off of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" which gives the bar a different vibe than some of the bars in the area. Trivia is held upstairs and they have drink deals for the players. I have a great time every week!

Raven's head Public House is a great authentic pub in a part of queens thats slowly being gentrified. I've gone there several times and each time has been a pleasant experience. The crowd is always lively and in a cheery mood most likely as a result of the great food and amazing service. The wait staff are always around to order another drink or place food orders. The food is a great mix of bar classics. Burgers are big and have good grill flavor. My favorite there is the nachos. They are massive and topped with cheese and meat. It's good for a group of three! I've had their buffalo wings and they were pretty awesome. Basic buffalo wings may seem easy to make but you'd be surprised how many places mess them up, not here. Last but not least is the bar. The bartender was very nice and made great drinks. The beer selection is pretty good for a traditional pub. Overall this is an awesome place to go to unwind and have fun with friends. I'll definitely go again.

I was here two Sunday's ago for the Giants/Saints game. We sat in the back area because it was empty and the bar was pretty crowded- plus there's a large projection screen in the back, a Christmas tree, fireplace, and lots of tables. We had an hour to kill so we ordered some food. The wings were mediocre, and the mac and cheese tasted like it was just defrosted. Our server was not very attentive or friendly. We were there for about 5 hours and she never once went out of her way for us . There were times when we had to ask the bus boy to ask her to bring us beer. Overall, I didn't hate it here, but I certainly didn't love it. I'd come back from a few drinks, but not for a game or the food.

So far, I'm a big fan. They seriously turned this place around. A vast improvement from Blackstones AND they do $0.20 wings! So far my favorite thing is their wedge salad and their excellent beer selection! So long Gleasons, you suck. :D

Overall - I have been to Raven's Head many times and generally consider it to be an excellent spot to grab and drink and have a good time. Raven's Head has that local bar feel that I really enjoy and is what keeps me coming back. The establishment is set-up very well; at the front is the large spacious bar and in the back is a dinning room where you can catch the game and not have to worry about talking over the crowd. Filled with TV's there is a good view of the game from almost any angle. The staff is very attentive and is more than happy to change a particular TV to the sporting event of your choosing. I enjoy Raven's Head more during the day and on the weekends; primarily because of the staff that is working. Below I have rated this local bar in terms of Service/Food/Specials. Service - In general I enjoy the bartenders and wait staff. Jackie/Carol-Anne/Taylor and Trish are amazing. Jackie is a great bartender, she talks to almost everyone and makes you feel welcome - she always checks to make sure the food is good and your drinks are full. Carol-Anne is also great - she is a fun bartender, provides good conversation and service is top-notch. Trish is there during the day and makes you feel like you are at the Cheers bar - which is important in a bar like this that caters to the local crowd. Taylor is awesome he always makes sure your drink is full and is all around a great bartender. On the negative side I had a bartender I think it is Bretan whose service leaves a lot to be desired. He has spilled beer on me (not his fault cause the keg was kicked) however he did not even apologize and said "oh did I get you?" Also whenever I get food at the bar he never asks if the food is good or not (something I believe called a table touch). Also he spends the majority of his time talking to other staff instead of building rapport with his customers. I usually leave sooner than I would when he is behind the bar, which is unfortunate for Ravenshead because he is usually there everyday. Food - The food is very good; I prefer many of the main dishes over the appetizers. If you do get an appetizer, I would recommend getting the BBQ wings as an appetizer as they are very very good - usually crispy with just the right amount of sauce. The Burgers are also excellent, second best to Bareburger in the area. The Sheppard's pie is also very good and is the just the right size (Cronin next door has a huge Sheppard's pie in comparison). The chicken pot pie is surprisingly good with a light flaky crust and lots of delicious shredded chicken inside. The double-breasted chicken is excellent, very flavorful and juicy - it is a special now, but would recommend putting it back on the full menu. Specials - I think this bar should take a page out of the Dillingers Pub & Grill page with the specials. Dillingers usually has something everyday - not just .20 cents for wings, but nights where burgers and steaks are cheaper and they change it up every month. Also, the lack of unlimited Mimosas/Bloody Mary's for brunch is a big draw back. Dillingers and closer-by Mexi-Q offer a form of unlimited Mimosa, which is why my friends and I usually visit them for brunch. Final Words - If you are in the area, definitely stop in and give Ravenshead a try - the food is very good and I have never had something I did not like. Overall, the staff is friendly and attentive. It is for these positive qualities that I keep coming back.

This was the first stop on our st. patty's day bar hop in Astoria (because of the proximity to the apartment) and it really did not disappoint! I've been here once before for bunch which was decent. The crowd on pattys was definitely there, but not in your face. There was a good mixture of people, the music was authentic and (since they have a good beer selection) so were the beverages. We ordered wings and fries which were OK. about as good as you would expect. Service was fine for the most part. A friend of mine who was sitting next to me at the bar was getting a bit frustrated becuase his beer wouldn't fill itself. I guess as with any loud bar, you're going to have to speak up a little bit :]

I feel compelled to write a review, which I don't often do because this was the worst dining experience I have EVER had. I ordered a hot cider rum drink. The drink came out in a glass and it burnt my hand just to touch it...so I couldn't even pick it up to drink it for a good 1/2 hour. I decided to wait until after dinner to drink it. The waitress forgot to put in our appetizer order so we ended up canceling it as it was going to come out with our dinner. I ordered a pretty bland black bean burger, but I was hungry so I ate it all. Meanwhile I asked for a glass of water, drank some, and then saw something floating around in the glass. I pulled the straw out to discover some slimy crap all over the straw and in the water that I drank half of! I point this out to the waitress who essentially says nothing. Shortly thereafter I get some plenty intense stomach cramps. Now was this in my head, was it the slimy crap in my drink, or was it the crappy burger? Who knows...but apparently the waitress didn't bother to even let a manager know what happened. I got the bill (nothing was comped btw) and got the hell out of there leaving my full cider drink on the table. The waitress seemed nice, but clearly oblivious. Needless to say, I will not be back. Too bad since I just live a few blocks away.

good selection of drafts and bottle beer, and they actually have great food. I had the nachos the first time I went which was incredible and the second time I had the grilled chicken sandwich that had the avocado. Both times it was great, since it is fall I took advantage of the Sam Adams Oktoberfest. (big plus for having it on draft.) I will definiltey return, I only removed a star because I was ignored by the bartender for some time.. there was only about 4 other people there.. so there really is no excuse.

This review is for the rental of the room upstairs. I had my bridal shower here over the summer and everything was absolutely fantastic. They really worked with me over the menu so that it could be something that I could afford. The staff there were excellent. Jacque worked out the details with me and was there the whole time. I feel like they really went over and beyond my expectations. The food and the service were great. The menu doesn't have a great selection but that did not matter to me. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking to throw a party.

Living a block away, I was very excited to see Raven's Head opening up. Looked like it would be a great new pub with a more upscale selection of food. Unfortunately after giving them a third try, we're opting out. For our first visit, we came in during the day on a Saturday - being the only people in the restaurant, the bartender waited on us. She actually mentioned that she didn't like the management and that they weren't working to fix kinks in their system. She also advised us against ordering one of the dishes, saying it was no good. When we got our food (chicken tacos and French onion soup) it was good, but nothing to write home about - and pretty overpriced at that. Our second and third visits were during more crowded times - the bar was busy, but not so busy it excused the slow and weird service that others have mentioned. Additionally, on our last visit (Sunday brunch) the host tried to lead us into the back room - the room was empty and not inviting - we asked to sit up front and we the same situation play out with a few other groups. On this same visit, we got a burger and eggs benedict. The eggs were very blah and came with a sad side of dry hash browns. While there, we noticed their drink special of the day was $10, WAY overpriced for Queens. We won't be back.

Awesome bar. The service was super quick, and they have Sam Adams Cherry Wheat on tap. I love the high seats and stools, and I really liked the crowd - thankfully, not too hipster, just ordinary guys and girls like me and my friends.

The food is better than your average pub food, and the drinks are moderately priced. The service, however, is AWFUL. The waiter completely ignored us for more than 15 minutes, and actually waved his hands in disgust when he saw me trying to get his attention *just to order a round of beer*. I paid for multiple rounds at the bar, only to discover that our waiter tacked on those drinks to our bill, even though he'd interfaced with us twice in two hours. Go to Cronin and Phelan's next door. The service is much better there, the crowd is much nicer, and you never leave in a bad mood. I won't be back.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday ... not Funday! It's always a hard time to find a spot that's open before noon on Sunday because that's when the booze starts flowing, according to NY state law. So after cruising 30th Ave and then making our way to Broadway, we found a spot that had their windows open and it was very welcoming. They do offer a pre fixe brunch, $13 for a meal and a cocktail (bloody's or mimosa) While we were their first two guests, we got ourselves a table right at the window, got comfortable and started to browse the menu. This bar has your typical brunch fare, everything from eggs benny, omelets, french toast and of course pancakes. I was feeling quite of simple on that lovely Sunday and just went with the veggie omelet. While it was only a choice of 3 items, I asked if I was able to have all the veggies which wasn't an issue and sadly, no cheese! I did get a side of avocado and salsa to jazz things up a bit. My friend got the eggs benny which was your standard plate. Both dishes were served with the most delicious home fries I've had in a while. I'm not sure what they marinated these babies in but maybe it was the fact that they were with sauteed white onion, red and green peppers for some added flavor. Both the omelet and benny were really nice portions! They didn't cheat us on this. Since we didn't drink and only had some OJ, our waitress was kind enough not to charge us and just added that on to the $13 pre fixe. There were numerous fliers in the bathroom promoting their weekly specials, movie night, wings & beers and whenever the Mets or Yanks are on, if its your thing, they serve $1 hot dogs. Nice little spot, service was prompt and took good care of us. Can't say I'll be running back anytime soon, but it was nice to try a new joint in the neighborhood!

Came a few weekends ago and hung out at the bar for probably 4 or 5 hours with a few friends watching football. It's a really cool bar with a nice atmosphere, and the food is pretty decent too for a sports bar set up, but it's unbelievable to me that you can sit down, spend hundreds of dollars between 5 or 6 dudes, and not get a SINGLE buy back. I was annoyed, but we stayed, and went upstairs where I think they had some live music, which was good. Once again however, ordered over 100 dollars of drinks and not a single buy back. I'm sorry, but if a group comes in and spends over 400/500 bucks on drinks alone, which are a bit overpriced to begin with, you give them some buybacks and/or a round or two of shots, even if just to show appreciation. A good way to make sure a group NEVER comes back to your bar is charging them hundreds of dollars without a buyback. I can't imagine coming back to this place for any reason (for dinner or just to hang out) if this is how they show appreciation for customers. It's a crying shame, cause this place has a really cool set up.

Went there to watch NY Giants demolish the Packers. Great game, good crowd, bad service. They need more bar tenders and servers. Everyone working there seemed overwhelmed and it was more entertaining when one of the server had an argument with the bartender....comical. The same bartender tucked on an extra drink on my tab. Anyhoo..been to better places and the drinks are pricey.

To Raven's Head, My wife and I had our wedding rehearsal in the upstairs event room and I must say they did an outstanding job from the food to making sure everyone was taken care of, we had such a great time and I truly will never forget it! The service was great every one of the staff members were very professional and were willing to do whatever you needed, especially being it was such a special day in our lives. We had such a good time and felt that the price was more than fair for everything they gave us that we decided to also have our baby shower here as well. Thank you for everything! Came here around midnight Decent drinks, nothing fancy pretty basic Music started out GREAT, huge 90's mix, dance mix, progressing to a more modern hip hop/ R&B with mixes of things in between. The only problem was sometimes they would cut out the best parts. 2am it got really crowded, sausagefest and not in a good way Friendly clientele, a little umm aggressive I guess. I was outside when someone accidently bumped into 2 guys. A little conversation was held after and one turned away and bam, 2 guys knocked him out from the back... So yea, I would say it was a good night but the clientele...ehhhh

Ever wonder what it would be like if Charlie Day were your trivia quizmaster? Find out at Raven's Head, which features his celebrity soundalike! Compared to other Queens trivia establishments, Raven's Head currently ranks second (coming behind only Open Door in LIC) for the actual bar experience, but first among NYC Trivia League locations in the borough. Grading trivia establishments on a curve, those factors combined gives it five stars. My friends and I went to the bar as part of our Trivia "World Tour" throughout NYC. We're big fans of the trivia provider (NYC Trivia League), and this particular establishment has Danny Friendly - one of the League's best (ranking up there with Ryan West) quizmasters. He asks the questions efficiently (the five rounds ran from 8:15-9:45pm), checks answers quickly, and has the enthusiasm and sense of humor you'd ideally hope for. And as a bonus, he sounds like one of the actors from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The prizes are also substantial - first and second place compete for $50/$25 bar tabs, while third place receives a round of fireball/kamikaze shots; any team could trade their prize for a cheap (retail price according to my wine app: $8) bottle of wine. The $50 bar tab is one of the highest prizes I've seen for any Queens trivia establishment, outdone (from what I've experienced) only by Irish Rover and Astoria Tavern (both of which award cash pots based on $10 team buy-ins). But of the nine teams who competed for the $50 bar tab, four ended within one point of each other. (Thank goodness for tiebreakers.) How's that for some healthy competition? I've always been a fan of Raven's Head as a bar establishment. It has a good beer selection. There appears to be a rotating beer special for $5, but getting a draft for something like Singlecut is $6. Their food selection is also commendable. First of all they go the extra mile when it comes to venturing beyond the bar staples - menu items include burger variations, steak/turkey/chicken sandwiches, kale salad, and Irish chicken curry. Taste-wise I've always approved of the curry, although last time I had it the portion was smaller than it once was. But the most recent time I went and had the full order of the shepherd's pie, which I greatly enjoyed. Although it did look a little burnt (the mashed potato top resembled a toasted pita), it did not affect the taste one bit. There were mixed opinions for the other dishes at the table, particularly the salmon special and French fries.

Came here for lunch on a Friday. The place was empty. The bartender was so welcoming. My BF ordered a Bloody Mary and he says it was really good. For appetizer we had the cauliflower buffalo bites with ranch dip . They were so good, the texture of chicken and the buffalo sauce was delicious. Had the chicken sandwich special it was so good and fresh. Same for the boyfriends Broadway burger on a pretzel bun with a fried egg.

I've been coming to Raven Head almost weekly for trivia night the past several months so I've been able to try more of the food and it is just not good. The burgers are generally bland with stale buns and french fries are just OK. The nachos can be stale too and the black bean sauce they put on it is pasty and dense. The guacamole is very fake and watered down - it's more like a pale green sauce. Most recently, the buffalo chicken dip was watery and barely had any chicken in it. We thought they made a mistake so we sent it back to the kitchen - the new one looked the same so what we thought was shredded cheese was actually shredded chicken?? My friends and I just try to eat beforehand so we don't order anymore. As for service, there is one waitress (I think her name is Yvette) that always works Tuesday nights and she is awesome. Super friendly, gets all our orders right and is fast even when it gets super busy. We always want her to be our waitress because the others are not as nice nor good. (gets orders wrong, takes forever for refills and to get our check) Another unfortunate incident with the service that happened recently was another waitress pretty much turned us away when we arrived for trivia. We are there almost every week and usually walk right in the back room. This time she stopped us midway through the front bar and said she only had room for 2 and we couldn't go back there. We looked and it wasn't that crowded. We couldn't believe that she was turning away 6 people. While we stood and debated what to do, a man (the manager maybe?) came by and said, "hey, we're going to bring some tables down for you so it's no a problem". That was really nice of him and when we sat down, there was still space for another table so I don't know why she said we weren't allowed to sit. I'm not sure what the girl's problem was but she proceeded to be very rude and short with us the rest of the evening. We couldn't believe that she was upset. Wouldn't she be happy that we were able to stay and she could make her tips off of us?? The upstairs space is really nice so maybe they should consider moving trivia up there.

I have been here a couple of times and it's a fun place to drink. The second time I went it was for a Giants game and this place was an awesome place to watch the game. The people there are really into it, the cheers were really loud as were the boos. Don't expect to come here on game day and have a quiet conversation. There were a ton of Giants jerseys, you don't even need to watch the game, you could just watch people's reactions to know what's going on lol There was also a pretty badass drink special that day, the beer that Sunday was Newcastle and or was pretty cheap. The food: Chicken Torta- fried chicken cutlet with lettuce, tomato, avocado, jalapeño, Oaxaca cheese on a Brioche bun and Chipotle mayo. It was a solid sandwich, the chicken was nice and crunchy but could use a tad more seasoning. The avocado and the Oaxaca cheese were great, the brioche was the Americanized part of it but it was a pretty good bread alternative. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

I've been here for a couple of private parties for pretty large groups. Both times the staff were accommodating for our party and the food was served buffet style. We took up the entire top floor which was great because it's a good amount of space for 30+ people. There is a great amount of seating and you get your own bartender/bar upstairs with the buffet/group/party option. I would say the brunch menu is much better than the dinner options for the buffet. I felt like the easy to make breakfast foods were good for the buffet like the french toast, eggs, english muffins, and bacon. The dinner options were chicken, mixed vegetables, and potatoes. Do these things sound boring? Yes, yes they are, but it's buffet style. I would rate the food a LOW 3 with the service being a HIGH 4. I like the space, so that's an A+. It's in between the N/Q and R, so a ton of options either way you're coming from. There was a minimum for the 2-3 hours we had the space to ourselves so speak with the restaurant manager about reserving a time and menu.

Used to be my favorite bar in astoria. The staff had some changes and it hasn't been the same. Honestly, ever since Johnny (bartender) left, it hasn't been the same. Amira is also a good bartender (not sure if she's still there). Pros: nice ambiance Dj on weekend Good food TV's Cons: Change in staff members PRICEY No pitchers

Good bar food, good service. This is a fun spot to go if you want grab some dinner and drinks or just drinks. The space is big. The upstairs is cool and you can request to play beer pong. Down stoats is bar/table service and then in the back is a nice dining area, but maintains the sports bar vibe. Lots of tvs too. The service has always been good as well- no complaints.

Cool spot with a kind of college-kid vibe, at least when we went the day after Halloween, but minus the drunken college kids. The music was pretty varied, and I loved it. When can you really get your Swing moves on one minute and then jam to Notorious B.I.G. the next? But it was pretty cramped where we were dancing, so it doesn't seem like a real dance spot. And after a while the loud music got to be too much. Had a great pumpkin beer, and they took the time to put sugar and cinnamon on the glass rim. Double plus. The potato skins were awesome, but the amount wasn't that plentiful for the price. I'd definitely go back if I were in the neighborhood.

Had buffalo tenders, a pbr and a glass of water. Because I was hungry and thirsty. The food was alright. The pbr was standard. The three stars are for Ashley, she's an awesome server. I'll come back for the beer and the atmosphere.

Number 1 drunk brunch in Astoria! Whenever we're looking to really take advantage of bottomless brunch, my friends and I go here. They have the two hour unlimited drink brunch with mimosas, bloody marys and whiskey morning drink that is my personal favorite. The food is also delicious and comes with a free beverage for those that might be looking to get too crazy.

Really depends on the bartender. Sean and Owen are awesome but Ameerah /Amirah (spelling?) Is very rude. I lost my turbo phone charger the other night. I specifically stopped by a few days later (granted a Saturday night) to ask if I had left it behind. When I asked Amirah if she had seen it (she had even been working the night I left it) she refused to look for it. I am also a bartender and If she told me that she was busy and asked if I could stop by at another time I would have totally respected that. Instead she just flat out refused to look for it. She said; "I don't know what it looks like", when I described it she said; "we have a lot of chargers". When it became clear she wasn't going to look for me, I just left. Not the kind of hospitality I would expect from an Irish bar that I frequent twice a week. Id steer clear of her if you want to be treated with respect, all the other bartenders are lovely.

I've been a here a few times now to watch a game and I always have a good time. It's a nice space with plenty of TV's scattered around. On my most recent visit I sat at the little bar in the back. It was a little less crowded back there. Our waitress was very friendly and always seemed to be around when I needed a refill. The wings are pretty good as well, which is essential for any bar. They have quite a few beers on decent number of beers on tap. Unfortunately most of it is made by big beer companies though they do have some craft beers and local breweries on tap like Six Point and Brooklyn. I refuse to support big beer so I usually go with Six Point, but that's just my preference.

This just might be the worst bar I've ever been to. Horrendous service and it wasn't even crowded! After ordering two very simple drinks with the waitress (bourbon on the rocks, gin and soda with splash of grapefruit), my friend and I waited nearly half an hour for our drinks to arrive. Finally, the gin drink arrived, but was completely wrong (vodka and grapefruit). My friend's bourbon was nowhere to be found. Each time we asked the waitress for the drink, she came up with a bogus excuse about how the bar was "backed up" and the bartender was "working on it." Meanwhile, I walked to the bar to have my mixed drink corrected, where I was met with exceptional rudeness from bartender about making me a new one. Finally the bourbon came, albeit without ice. We sent it back and asked for our credit card back, rather than a new drink, at that point just wanting to get out of there. We waited another 25 minutes for my friend's card while the bartenders, waitress, and a supposed bar "manager" argued over it. After this ordeal they should have charged nothing, yet sure enough we paid $7 for the vodka grapefruit. No apology was given, and neither was a tip.

We came into Raven's Head Public house after working out at the gym. I had seen them in an article on the Internet in regards to their AYCD brunch. And, I was very impressed. We were taken to the back and sat at a table that let us watch the game and eat comfortably. Every part of the service was attentive, quick, and friendly. Our server, Claudia, anticipated our needs consistently, checked in with us, and kept our drinks full. The food was great, a nice unique twist on Irish Pub brunch, and the drinks were fantastic. Beer options for an AYCD brunch are a nice touch. I gave the review 5 stars because of excellent service, quality of food, pricing, and quality of drinks. If you wouldn't go into an Irish pub, it may be a bit not your vibe. Don't expect a quaint Williamsburg French cafe, and you'll have a good time. I'll definitely be back, and I recommend you visit too.

Ambience is great a lot of great character for the place Food is pretty good Mixed drinks - better not order. Stick to what dive bars know best. Example, ever time I ordered a Manhattan, each and every time it came out wrong, like every time it came out of different variety - too strong, way to ruby red or why the hell is there a weird taste of lemon in it oh there is an actual squeezed lemon wedge in it or why the hell is it in the rocks?????? That's one drink they keep screwing up every time eith different bartender, very weird.

Had a great time here on Saturday night with the girls after hopping around to 2 other places in the neighborhood before stopping in here. They play good music and there was a good crowd going in there.. which dies at like 2am lol. The place literally, cleared out at that time. Drinks were good and cheap. Service was good. I think the name of our server was Gretchen. She checked in on us frequently to make sure we were good with our drinks. Will be back!

Chill bar, spacious. Has two floors. The music is pretty good. Fireball shots were $5. Pretty cheap beers. Not sure if they had food. I think upstairs is better for dancing. It was pretty crowded for a Saturday night and didn't have to wait too long for drinks. I would definitely go back.

One of the more classy Irish pubs in the neighborhood. They have weekly events like trivia and beer pong. I like to come after a trip to the gym for a Sam Adams seasonal brew, but they also have many other drafts from a variety of regions. The hostess is Irish and her accent is a bit thicker than the usual pub hostess.

Raven's head used to be a great local bar for delicious sandwiches and beers. Unfortunately, the serving size for sandwiches has changed to smaller portions while still charging 14-16 dollar for a sandwich. The bread isn't even real rolls as it appears that hot dog buns are being utilized for the sandwich preparation. This used to be a great bar with delicious food.

This review is based off of Super Bowl Sunday which happened to be my first time here. Came with a large group of 12. We were all starving once everyone arrived so we decided to order two platters. They were offering 5 appetizers for $45. Now, I am reading the menu and noticing that not all of the appetizers included in the platter are listed a la carte and the two that were listed were $8.95 and 9.25. Being a person who can add and multiply, I worry that these platters might not actually be a good deal or a deal period, seeing how 5 x $9 is $45. Usually platters are enticing to customers because they are supposed to be more bang for your buck. But it was the Super Bowl and I didn't want to be a negative nancy, plus my friends were speculating that maybe they would be bigger portions than a separate order. We order two for the table. The platters come out and we are all stunned. Is that really it? Really? There were a handful of onion rings, a few mozzarella sticks, two potato skins ($4.50 per skin), three boneless wings ($3.00 per nugget) and two chicken tenders ($4.50 per tender). Not ok! I ask to speak to the manager and I explain to him that this is ridiculous. So does another girl in our group, to complain about her side of the tables platter. The manager seems apologetic and makes us believe that this must be a kitchen issue and that he will bring another platter (we assume two since both platters were not sufficient). We wait and finally one of the exact same lame platters comes out. We now have to speak to the manger again to ask about the other platter. Now he is angry with us and thinks we are ungrateful for our "free" platter. He berates us telling us that this is how the platters always come out. We say that that is not worth $45. He says if we ordered a la carte we would have gotten double the portion. I explained to him that ordering everything individually would actually be cheaper than getting the platter so why would anyone ever get the platter. He says, "so it's on the same plate." The same plate?! Why would anyone care?! Why would any sane person spend more money to get less food for the convenience of a single plate?! This place is knowingly ripping customers off and they are not remotely sorry about it! And the food was mediocre at best and super greasy to boot. I will never come back here again.

So let's start off by saying that no stars is not an option but most definitely what they deserve. In the first 5 minutes of finding a "quiet" table in the corner about 10 employees of this shitty bar kept bothering like a mosquito in a hot summer night. One came to take the salt away from the table, another cane to take the pepper, than the bouncer, i say the bouncer came to check our glasses of they were empty. I mean can I have a drink in peace for fffffs sake. NOT HERE MY PEEPS NOT HERE

Nice space upstairs for a private event. The food was pretty good. The game was on and it was spacious. I found the prices to be a little high (for the location), no drinks included with brunch. Overall good place for brunch if you are in the area or have friends in the area.

I have been here before in the evening but was pleasantly surprised at their brunch offerings. Went here to watch the Madrid came and had bottomless cocktails and A meal for $30. The service was great, everyone was checking for refills and orders were taking quickly. I had the Eggs Benedict who were good but nothing to rave about. The breakfast nachos my friend got were a better choice. Overall good experience and would return!

WOW, I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! Raven's Head has become the go to bar by my boyfriend's place. I was dorkishly excited by this Edgar Allen Poe themed bar and their Poe themed cocktails - this theme is in no way shoved in your face or made ostentatious, but it's just correctly executed - done any harder this place would dance along the fine line of kitschy tourist and certifiably lame. On two specific locations service has been a little less than desired. One time my boyfriend questioned why our waitress kept rolling her eyes in this non-chalant attitude whenever we ordered beer or food, I chocked it up to her being a woman and perhaps having a bad day or cramps and it didn't put a damper on the moment or my feelings for this place. The second time it was simply between me and one of the female bartenders who was not happy when I asked her what beers were on tap or bottled and then she was completely rude when I asked her to not run my tab on the card because I wanted to pay in cash. I told her twice because she never looked at me to acknowledge it the first time, but she snapped and rudely said she got it the first time. This didn't really affect my feelings for this place either, but it did affect her tip that night. Food wise I've only ever had their appetizer platter - it comes with mozzarella sticks, yummy cheesy/bacon-y potato skins, buffalo wings - yanno, the usual. It's all pretty delicious stuff and perfect for a night of playing-catch up, enjoying some beers/cocktails and not wanting to commit to a whole meal and just get a little taste of a few different things. Plus it's great for two or three people (who aren't starving) to share. The boy says the pork sliders here are fantastic but I have yet to try them and hope to do so soon. They have Sam Adams Cherry Wheat here which makes me smile - plus their happy hour is pretty good and it's usually not too crowded and super awesome when you can get seats by the window and they open the glass up so you can enjoy the weather...I've only come here at night though...I would gladly welcome some daytime drinky poos here, I've gotta get on that...

I love a good brunch. I feel like you can get Eggs Benedict & a mimosa anywhere in the city. Raven's Head had 5-6 bottomless drink choices, a pretty diverse brunch menu & I was pleased with the variety. The bloody was good, I tried the breakfast in bed, delicious as well. I had the breakfast nachos & they were superb!!

Was looking for an afternoon snack. Think this place is okay, pretty standard pub food, nothing too special. Thought the service was good, but the mixed drinks we're poured a bit light. If you live in the area, worth a visit to try, if you don't live in the area, probably not worth a special trip. Looks like it's set up to handle groups in the back.

There aren't too many bars in Astoria where you can walk in at 10 am on a Saturday morning, ask the bartender to put in your game of choice on the speakers, and start your day with a shot of whiskey and bloody mary. Football (aka soccer) is a mysterious sport. You may have no affiliation with the team you support but yet it can be unhealthily obsessive. Why this happens is anybody's guess but the good news is that you aren't the only one. The guys at Raven's Head get it and they open up their bar and kitchen in the early hours of the weekends so crazed fans can start throwing down brewskis and start cheering for their teams while the rest of the neighborhood is still sleeping. Most fans tend to flock to some of the more "famous" soccer bars in the city for these games but one can come here and enjoy a game without having to push and shove their way through a crowd. I definitely prefer the latter. Helping matters is their amazing Irish breakfast. I've had many Irish breakfasts in the city in my years as an avid footy fan, perhaps too many; but the one here is miles ahead of others. What throws it over the top is their black pudding which is flavored heavily by thyme. It's one of the best blood sausages I've found in NY. Raven's Head is an awesome sports bar to watch European football leagues. However it's also one of Astoria's best kept secrets. Let's keep it that way.

I think the entire staff must've joined their open bar New Year's Eve party because when we came in for brunch on New Year's Day the service was actually the most horrible service I've had since I moved to New York City 8 months ago. We had reservations at noon but for the first 20 minutes didn't even have drinks and weren't asked what we wanted to order to EAT until 1 p.m. Then it took another half hour for the food to come in. I definitely recommend NOT coming here for brunch. They don't even have sweet potato fries!

This is a pretty standard sports bar with surprisingly good food. I especially like their burgers. They have an okay beer selection and the prices are pretty decent. The service is always pretty good, but not usually great. The back room is great to catch a game on the big screen.

A great, cool pub in the heart of astoria. Staff is amazing, the vibe is chill, and omg the food!!! You don't expect much from an Irish pub but let me tell you...the food is amazeballs! The Irish curry chicken, fried pickles, the burgers...like everything was awesome! The upstairs is so cool with foosball, pool table, and more intimate setting great for parties. A must go! Plus they support charitable organizations such as Team in Training/Leukemia & Lymphoma Society all the time! You can't go wrong with this place!

This is officially my new home. I live in Astoria and I would pass this place everyday on the way to the bank or somewhere else. I was always intrigued by its facade and name but I never bothered to pay a visit. Finally, a week ago I did it. I stepped foot in this establishment and by golly and I happy I did! I was welcomed by a very friendly host (who actually smiled! Genuinely too!) and she told us we can sit anywhere. We picked a spot, she took us there, and she handed us the menus. The establishment was fairly busy and the waitstaff was not only attentive to our needs but she also came by to check on us. One of the staff came by to fill our glasses with water and he noticed that we were ordering food. He was kind enough to pull over another table the plates can sit comfortably as well as our behind!s. He (I will assume the busboy) was very nice! Our waitress was engaging, nice, and she has spunk! Unfortunately I didn't get her name but I wish all waitresses were like her! She suggested the Buffalo dip to us, which of course we ordered after her yummy description of the dip. I am so happy we listened to her! That dip... omg.... its like hot sex to my taste buds! Aside from the Buffalo dip (which is now a must every time we come here) we had the fried pickles which were very good and we had the nachos, which were phenomenal. Still, the dip stole the show. My only suggestion is, please add more carrots and celery to the chip basket for the dip! The second time I came here, we had the dip once again and the popcorn chicken. I LOVE the popcorn chicken and honey mustard dip is one of the best I have had. I normally don't like honey mustard but this, I hogged it. Both times that I have come here, I really have no complaints. The second time around we came here, the music was really loud. I don't think its necessary to have music blaring like a club at a pub. Either way, I still love this place! Drinks! The drinks here are great! They don't skimp (at least not on mine) and they pretty much serve what you want. Their cocktails menu has a good selection as well! The atmosphere in this place is pretty nice. By the bar area it can get a bit loud but there is additional "quiet" seating in the back. The decor is awesome and the big screen t.vs is pretty nice. Its also a great place to kick back with friends, have a drink at the bar, and watch some sports. I am so happy I finally stopped in this establishment. It will definitely be my "go to" place.

I really love the atmosphere of this restaurant. I recently had my surprise bridal shower here and loved that the party had their own space upstairs. The food was very delicious (fried calamari, sliders, lasagna and steamed vegetables). The music was spot on and the next song was better than the one before it. Apparently it was one of the bartender's iPod so whoever it is, keep that playlist going! The only downside was that since it was a surprise, my maid of honor made sure that the appetizers were out before I got there so guests could eat. Turns out a big order came in so they didn't make the appetizers until after I got there (which was 45 minutes after guests were supposed to arrive) and everyone was hungry. Other than that, it's a great restaurant and I would definitely go back there again!

Me and my wife went here for St. Paddy's day a few years back. We had lots of Guiness and a shepherds pie that can't be beat. I know where I will be come next Mar 17. Its nice that they have separate dinning room with a roaring fireplace where you can have a quite dinner.

I came here for a cool drink and some shade after strolling through the street fair. There was only one bartender serving the whole place-- at least thats what the other patrons were saying. I still can't believe this place only had one guy however he was doing the best he could and after finally getting his attention the drinks were delievered promptly. I didn't get a chance to look over their food menu to comment but nothing about this place will drive me back, there are plenty more quality pubs/bars in Sunnyside that surpass many in Astoria. All in all this place was just OK.

I had no intention of ever going back to this bar after bad experiences. But a friend of mine said lets just go in for a beer then we will leave. I went in same bartender was there so i was kinda skeptical of what was going to happen. He asked us what we were drinking and immediately got us what we wanted. 30 seconds later the owner came over and knew where we worked in the area. He bought us a complimentary drink and said he knew i had a bad experience there and asked me to give his establishment another try. I agreed and this most recent time was 100% better than the last 3. I shook hands with the the bartender Matthew and i will go back soon.

While coming off as a generic Irish pub, I do have some love for Raven's Head. The crowd here is always eclectic; bros, groups, weird foreigners who tell you that their a virgin and looking to get laid, obese women who try and hi-jack your table while you're still sitting at it, etc. The bartenders here are always on point (the skinny Irish dude me and buddy go to always hooks it up with buy-backs) and with the wall to wall TV's, we can always catch whatever local game is on. Plus, for bar food, this place is pretty solid. No amazing beer or booze selection, no must try on the menu, no amazing decor here - just a no frills Irish sports bar/pub that serves its purpose well.

I come from NJ just to eat here (and visit my best friend but THEN we go eat here). I will drive. I will even take a bus and a train. The food here is amazing. I could eat the chicken schnitzel and buffalo dip for life. The decor is comforting. The staff are friendly. Did I mention the great food? I was just there with my friends the other night and I'm already craving their food again.

Just moved to Astoria and stumbled across this place while looking for a place to catch a game and get a beer. I've now been back 4 times in the last 10 days. The food here is very good. I've had the "Poe Burger" and the Bacon Bleu burger...both were FANTASTIC with crispy bacon. They come with fresh cut french fries and homemade potato chips. On to the wings... I must say, the wings here are top 5, that I've ever had. They aren't too small, or too big, and when ordered "well done" they come out with a crisp that I rarely get from other restaurants. I wish they would offer "all drums", if even for an extra charge. I would gladly pay more to get all drums. If I had to nitpick, I guess I would hope that the bleu cheese was a little creamier and more crumbly, but still, the bleu cheese is good and the buffalo hot sauce is excellent. The staff is very nice, and accommodating from the waitresses, bartenders, runners...everyone. Can't wait to go again and try something new. My new "go-to" spot!

Went here tonight for my bday. One or two years ago I would have given this bar a 4 star rating, well something has drastically changed. No bartender to be found behind the bar on a holiday week for more than 10 minutes. When I asked for a manager from a server I was asked "why". When I said I wanted to complain about service I was pointed at the absentee bartender (missing for over ten mins as mentioned before). Food is ok but takes over 15 mins to get a drink when requested from a table. I suggest to avoid and visit the other very awesome Astoria Gems also located on broadway. This place will not be long for the competition if it keeps up with this sub par service.

I've come to Raven's Head a few times to have drinks or dinner. The food is always pretty good and the drinks are decently priced. Overall, I'm a fan. Haven't run into anything negative about the place. I think it's nice they get in the holiday spirit. Typical good pub.

Decent bar with pretty good food. The atmosphere is eclectic and casual. Pretty busy on the weekend. Other local places in the area can beat it!

After making (literally) dozens of phone calls from CA trying to plan a Surprise 50th Birthday party in NY for my hubby, I found Raven's Head Public House on Urban Spoon. (I started with the "A"s and went through alphabetically, so you can imagine how long it took to get to the "R"s.) I had a very specific venue/image in mind. I wanted a casual environment in which we could eat, drink and mingle bar-style. I definitely was not interested in a sit- down meal, as my husband hadn't seen his friends and family in a long time and I knew he'd want to talk and hang-out with everyone. I found a few places that seemed "almost" right, but either the party room didn't have a bar (so it was just a boring room), or they asked an exorbitant fee just for the room rental, or they wouldn't do a party on a Saturday night, or the person I spoke to acted like my party was an inconvenience... The second I spoke to Andrea at Raven's Head, I knew that this was exactly what I was looking for. She was incredibly friendly and easy to work with, and the private, upstairs bar was PERFECT. It even has bathrooms just for your guests. You can pipe in your own music on your ipod through their sound system, too! In essence, you are getting a large, full service bar, all for your private party. No problem bringing in a birthday cake, dessert, decorations, favors, etc, which believe it or not, some places wouldn't allow, or they charged you to bring your own cake! All of this, and you just need to guarantee them a $600 minimum. No crazy rental fees. I booked it right then and there, and hoped for the best, as I was not able to get anyone to check out the place before party day. FYI... They do offer buffet style parties, too, but that wasn't what I had in mind. The week of the party, which was on March 15, I called a couple of times to create a menu, figure out what I wanted to do with drinks, etc. April and Andrea both took fantastic care of me. No pressure to overspend, no upselling, just great customer service. Everything turned out better than I expected. April was there to greet my guests, which was great because I got the Guest of Honor to the party 40 minutes after I had intended to arrive! April was supposed to have gone home well before the party started, but she hung around to make sure I was taken care of- - that's good service! Bartender Erika (Erica?) was very friendly and attentive to our guests. When a couple of minor issues came up (ran out of plates, that kind of thing), she quickly addressed my concerns. The place was lively and fun, there was plenty of room for guests to sit and to walk around, my party favors and desserts had their own tables, everything was great. Owner Dave checked up on us a few times to make sure that I was happy with everything, and I assured him that it was going very well. Even when we completely underestimated how much food we needed- - we had a couple of uninvited 20-something male guests show up who apparently like to eat- - the folks at Raven'sHead were able to serve additional trays pretty quickly. And the food was very good. Well above what I typically expect from bar food, so that was a wonderful surprise. We sampled the sliders, frickles, kabobs, wings, potato skins, calamari, etc, and everything was delicious. When the bill came, I noticed that I wasn't charged for the two or three mixed drinks that my guests ordered before Erika realized that I was just doing beer, wine, sangria, and soda. I never made a big deal about the charge, and would have paid for the drinks without even a slight fuss, so that just goes to show that they understand good service at Raven's Head. I also ended up ordering coffee and tea with the cake, and the flat rate for all guests was very reasonable. For the beer, wine and sangria, you pay by the pitcher and by the carafe, so you have to trust the bartender to acurately keep track, and the bill certainly seemed in-line with how much I saw people drinking. When the "official" party was over, they opened the upstairs bar to the public, but never rushed us to finish eating, move the presents, etc. I felt perfectly welcome the whole night, and we did hang around for a bit and chat with some old friends. I just got an e-mail from April thanking me again for my business, and letting me know that she was sending me a gift certificate as a token of appreciation. Realizing that I live in CA, she was thoughtful enought to ask if I'd like the gift certificate sent to a family member in NY, which I did. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but I hope I gave you enough details to know that this is a great place at which to have a party. In fact, one of my guests is already talking about doing so. Thank you, April, Andrea, Erika, and Dave, as well as a very efficient busboy whose name I cannot remember, for a wonderful night!

If you're looking for a good time, great service and fun company, Ravenshead is the place to be on a Thursday, Friday an Saturday night! My boss and coworkers used to rave about this place all the time. I didn't understand what the hype was about until they brought me here on my birthday. I had such an amazing time. Now Ravenshead is my go to bar in Astoria.

After two encounters with fellow humans at Raven's Head, I'm pretty sure that I'll go back some day. It's close to the station and is a good place to meet up before going out to somewhere more particular to each party's proclivities. Raven's Head seemed to me like a generic pub with standard drinks and prices. The first time that I went they played radio fare on the sound system, the second time, more indie/new wave music (which I liked much more). That makes me cool, right? Overview: a convenient meeting place in Astoria that seems to play okay music sometimes, with standard drinks and prices. You'll probably have more fun elsewhere if you can (if logistics allow it).

This was a great place to spend St. Paddy's Saturday - here's why: Bar Staff: Our first bartender was a little to in-your-face... she was kind of demanding... Then, my favorite bartender in Queens arrived. He gave us many free shots and was so entertainingly Irish. There is no other way to express his affect, but people, you'd dig it. Drink Selection: There is a solid variety of beer here, and they are very well-stocked in the liquor department, especially whiskey. I have got to love a bar with Fireball whiskey! The beer is local and international, so chances are, you'll find something that is perfect for you. Food: The food was on a special St. Paddy's day menu, so I believe that's why it was overpriced. I'm assuming they elevated the cost to take advantage of drunkards who have large appetites. Overall - awesome spot to spend the bulk of St. Patty's

I've come to this location several times and still it's in my top places to go. I usually go after dinner so I've never had their food. The ambience is good, the music that plays when I'm there is mostly 90's (which I'm a fan) and the staff are great. They have tv's everywhere so if you want to catch a game or just watch music videos this is the place. I once went upstairs for karaoke and had a blast. The place is super clean which is a plus!

Seems to be a lot going on here - they have a robust events schedule including movie nights, they have a pretty decent bar menu, excellent drink selection (many drafts on tap!). Raven's Head is a lot larger than it seem from the outside (upstairs area, back area, etc), and it's the perfect place to stop by for a drink whenever you're in the area.

My favorite local spot. Yes, I'm biased because I'm an Astorian and feel particularly proud of my neighborhood. But Raven's Head is a pleasant and clean pub hosting a dart board (though REALLY inconveniently placed), front house with ~6 little tables, a full bar, and - my favorite - back house/restaurant area with a pull down projection screen for showing sports games or having events like movie screenings. Oh, and an upstairs for reserved parties only, I believe. The staff has always been friendly and generally attentive. My favorite thing about Raven's Head is the fact there's absolutely no pressure to keep buying food and drinks if you're in the back room watching a game of the screen. As a worry-wart, this makes me feel awesomely relaxed and comfortable. The food here is solid and surprisingly good for a pub. I'd actually stay away from the guacamole and chips for the sheer reason that I don't think it's the greatest value on the menu. The chips are homemade pita ones, I believe, and while that's a nice touch, sometimes I really just want a big bowl of cheap tortillas and a slab of un-spectacular guac at a bar. But anyway. I've ordered everything from the chicken tenders (yum) to the Eggs Benedict. The eggs benedict is average, and the Hollandaise sauce is a little on the tart/sour side (no, not spoiled), but the potatoes are delicious. Greasy, but delicious. Raven's Head is my #1 suggestion as a spot to watch games/movie screenings when they have them, in the area. Just be aware that for large events, they may be understaffed, so don't come here starving. Food usually takes awhile.

My hubby and I ate here for the third time on Friday night. The food is always good although the service is hit or miss, but I always view this place as more of a bar with good food than an all out restaurant. There was no one in the dining room when we arrived and the waitress took our drink orders and put in our starters, side Caesar salad for me and a bowl of chili for my husband. She asked when we wanted the starters to come out and we asked to have them first. She came back to take the rest of our orders --I had the shepherd's pie and my husband had a burger 40 minutes later (without refills on our wine, beer or water) our entrees arrived along with my salad and without the chili--at least the chili wasn't on the bill Now the reason for the single star review---when our entrees came, we asked for another round of drinks--my husband's beer arrived with what appeared to be a cardboard poker chip floating in it--disgusting! Unfortunately, our drinks were dropped on the table so fast we couldn't even alert the server. We won't be returning until Raven's Head pays more attention to detail.

I was here briefly this weekend. I rarely trek out to Queens but found the bar a nice spot. A little noisy and a little crowded for a friday night. But I guess that's expected of any decent bar. The list of beers on tap weren't quite craft quality but at a pretty huge and wide range. Going from German beers to Sixpoint to Abita to Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. It hits a wide-range of your standard beers. The cocktail menu looked unique though. Everything is Edgar Allen Poe themed. I like that. Anything that has a drink named 'Dark and Dreary' wins a special place in my heart. I did not sample any of their food but I've heard good things about it from my friend. Drinks are standard price $5-6 post happy hour beer range. I'd give it a 4 for the theme and 3 because I'm just genuinely more partial to bklyn and am biased.

From the outside it looks like a pub, a place with a jukebox, laid back but not at all divey. But there's a bouncer at the door. And then there's a DJ. Blasting dance music. But then there's a quasi-gastropub menu- the word aioli is tossed around. There are two guys in flannel and Tims watching the game, but also some cackling twenty somethings, and an older couple trying to enjoy their meal. This place doesn't seem to know what it wants to be and I wasn't interested in trying to figure it out for them. People sort of stuck to their own groups and the drinks were very weak, which didn't help any.

Great atmosphere!! They have enough TV'S to satisfy any sports enthusiast and a great beer selection. I ate the fish and chips and to be honest, I've had better. I couldn't finish the dish. It didn't have that traditional fish and chips taste. It might have been the batter choice. All in all a great place to grab a drink with friends.

Had a pleasantly surprising experience here on St. Patrick's Day, of all days. I wasn't feeling up to venture into Manhattan and so I turned to my reliable borough for some authentic Irish good times. Having walked by Raven's Head before, I always made a mental note to go there. Once I learned they were serving an authentic Irish menu along with $5 pints of Guinness, I did a Irish jig down Broadway to to check it out. The Raven's Head is newly renovated building, hosting an Irish watering hole. The bar is in the front, and in the back is a nice dining room with a large projector screens and flat screen TVs. I was nervous that the service would be slow, based on complaints from previous Yelpers, especially since the bar was packed with thirsty, drunk people decked out in green. The service was surprisingly efficient, considering how swamped they were. My fiancee and I started out with some buffalo chicken wings, which were a great base - lots of meat and quite tender. I went for the fish & chips, and fiancee went with the corned beef sliders. Both were excellent, and being the agreeable couple we are, trading a slider for a fish & chip. The cherry on top were the guinnesses - if you want a perfect pour, look no further than an Irish bar. Will be back in the future next time I'm looking for somewhere to drink on Broadway. Appreciate the fact that they do trivia nights and movie marathons.

I came here on Jan 4th for my birthday with a small group of friends. We were coming from dinner in the city and looking for a place to have a drink and relax for a bit. The only reason they lose a star is because the bouncer very nearly refused to let me in! ON MY OWN BIRTHDAY! It wasn't my 21st, it was my 24th. I had to set my bag down and take every. Single. Item. Out of my purse to find my ID. Once I handed it to him, I told him he could wish me a happy birthday. He didn't card a single other person in my group. This kinda pissed me off. I get carding people, but giving me such a hard time and being a hardass wasn't cool, man! The drinks were reasonably priced, the front was crowded but we easily found a table in the back. I will probably come back sometime for a drink and to watch a game.

I made it a point to sample the appetizer menu of this establishment, knowing that it had recently opened a few weeks ago. First impressions: 1. I like the rustic appearance of the exposed brick, plus the cleanliness. 2. Bartender ,Trisha, was super friendly. 3. Be prepared for small portions from the appetizer menu. 4. Best Buffalo Chicken Wings in Astoria. 5. Budweiser on tap.

Went there couple more times. They have a lovely second floor. Played beer pong there and drank White Russians like Lebowski. Prices still a bit higher than you would want but the bar is in Steinway, Astoria so it does get pretty busy there, hence they are able to be more expensive. Good atmosphere.

This place could be my new neighborhood bar, or it could not. I've only been here three weeks and I've been to less than five places in Astoria. The food is solid, best Burger I've had in the city thus far (Bill's lost its luster, The Counter is overrated, I have not been to Shake Shack or Old Homestead, yet.. I am going to Bareburger as soon as I am done writing this) but the staff is a little rough around the edges. I waited a long time for my food in a near-empty bar. They have a great tap selection though, and a beautiful room upstairs. I suspect I'll be back here more often, so this rating may change.. maybe even tonight if I'm feeling froggy.. I'll let ya know.

Have been twice and like it. Will definitely go back. The staff is very welcoming. I liked going on a week night because it wasn't as loud. Went this past Friday and it was packed downstairs/ had a great vibe but we wanted to be able to talk as a group so we went upstairs and it was exactly what we were looking for. The wine was served in a decanter -classy and cute. Seems to be a good place to have a birthday party/ event and rent out the upstairs. Update: go there to play foosball upstairs

This place is just ... OK. It's one of few decent bars in Astoria (at least in the Broadway/Steinway area) and they have decent drink specials, so that is why we go there. However, the crowd here can be really weird some nights, and I've had some awkward conversations with dudes here (well, moreso my friend, but yeah, there's a chance for it to happen). The food isn't all that great which is the real buzzkill for me -- it's standard bar food, but even then, it's sort of lacking. Sliders I had recently here were rather boring. The chicken was stewed chicken on a bun (little to no flavor) and the steak slider was just a regular burger, with no cheese, and absolutely nothing on it, not even an onion or something. Come on, guys! If you come here during non-Happy Hour hours, you can easily spend over $75 for just two people. Kind of a lot -- I'd rather go to a restaurant for those prices!

I go to a lot of bars in Astoria and Raven's Head is not my favorite. The few times that I have been there, the music was so loud I couldn't even hear myself while trying to scream to my friends. It wasn't because the bar was crowded either. The music was just unnecessarily loud to try to drown out the live music going on upstairs. The drinks were pretty standard. The bartender had no idea what I was talking about when I showed her a FourSquare check-in discount on my phone. She then took the phone out of my hand and walked away for several minutes to talk to her manager about the discount. While I could see her the whole time, I found it extremely rude that she would just take my phone and walk away. I don't think I will be coming back here very often.

I hope to write a follow up to this follow up that balances out the crap time I had here on Friday. Hostess: Two? Want a seat in the back? Me: Can we get that table by the window? Hostess: Yeah, as long as you're done by 10, then the DJ is going there. Me: That's fine, we should be gone by 10. (The time is 8:38 when we are seated and given menus. A manager walks over.) Manager: Hey guys, I don't know if anyone told you, but this table's reserved for the DJ at 9. My wife: Oh, I'm sorry, the hostess told us 10. Manager: Oh, that's right, it's 10! Never mind. (By 8:56, no other exchanges have occurred. No water. No drink order. Nothing. We leave, disappointed, like the Native American who was sad about that commercial about garbage.)
