A little loud for my tastes with the bar crowd hovering near the dining area. However - we ordered the $11.99 appetizer choices of stuffed mushrooms, potato skins and onion rings. All perfectly done. REAL - unfrozen potato skins, too. The clam chowder is easily the best in Rochester. We both ordered the chef's specials and were not disappointed... a far cry from pub food, my entree (grilled swordfish) was worthy of any Michelin star restaurant. Perfectly grilled, fresh and dressed nicely with a mushroom/brussel sprout hash and a perfectly incredible. sage sauce. .The other entree was the seafood pasta which was teeming with shrimps, scallops, tuna, and calamari in a light, tomato sauce that was an accent - not a cover-up. Service was stellar and worth the brief wait in the noisy bar area. Owners... word of advice? The thumping bass is not needed to an already clamorous environment.

Friday night dinner with the family and everyone enjoyed their meal. The fish fry was a big hit at the table, good size but a bit too greasy although the meal was nothing but fried. Other items ordered; steak, quesadillas and roast beef sandwich which all looked good. They were very busy for a Friday so service was slower, took awhile for a drink, salad and bread. It wasn't an issue for our table since we were catching up with family out of time. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Wintonaire.

Wow what an improvement since the previous owner sold this place. Gone was the rude elderly hostess, the noise issue that plagued this place was finally corrected. The renovations have made this place really warm and inviting. The prices are great too. Next visit we will try dinner. Really happy to add The Wintonaire to our rotation because we live around the corner

Not a lot of seating, but they take reservations. Our group of 7 got smooshed by the kitchen entrance and stairs leading to the party room. Unfortunately the servers, (who were very nice) splooshed water when depositing dirty dishes and christened a few of us. The menu was an oddity with an $80.00 chicken sandwich special (see below, worth every penny) and other menu items with just $$ signs after them. No complaints on the food though. Everyone liked their dishes and their drinks. We ordered the honey jalapeño wings well done. They were crispy and hot and sweet and welcome in my mouth anytime. I also sampled the Gouda, chicken, ham extravaganza of melty juicy sandwichness. The reuben was standard tender meat, adequate kraut and cheese. The bread was a little sogged, and the dressing bland.

Wonderful neighborhood spot! Had a cocktail and a burger, both were delicious! Sat outside and had a great time. Ordered the Bacon Blue Cheese Burger and fries both were cooked perfectly, the bun was toasted and perfectly fresh. It may have been one of the best burgers I've ever had! The bacon was crisp and actually sizzling! The server was a doll and the service was great, we will definitely be going back.

I would actually give this restaurant 4.5 stars. The decor in this place was fantastic. The age range of the customers varied which was refreshing. I visited with my family to redeem a groupon. We weren't sure what to expect so we were pleasantly surprised by the service. The waitress was very friendly and gave us great advice on what to order according to our preferences. I highly recommend ordering the Richmond wings and their garbage plate. These 2 dishes were the most delicious. The only complaint I have is the temperature within the restaurant. It was blazing hot when we first arrived. However, the staff turned off the heat once they realized there was an issue and the temperature was within a comfortable range within a few minutes. They said it was a problem they'd been having for a while and were working to resolve it.

I've picked up takeout here several times now that it's only a few minutes away. It's always a simple process and takes ~15min. I have yet to eat inside the restaurant since prior to that we went in the summer and sat outside in the front. Regardless, they have a solid selection of bar food and great sandwiches. It is more of a sports bar and most of their drink specials are for cheap well-drinks and domestics. What I've had and would order again: - Nachos are jam packed with toppings like olives, tomatoes, seasoned ground beef (mimics hearty chili), jalapeños, shredded cheese and homemade cheese sauce, plus salsa and sour cream for dipping. - Homemade potato chips* are bangin! You get a ton with your order. They're perfectly salted, crispy and crunchy. **I wanted to get my nachos made with these but the waitress suggested otherwise. I think I would have preferred the homemade chips to the tri-color tortilla chips. - Turkey club - simple and straightforward. But it was delicious. I like the deli turkey they use and the bacon is thick, crispy and well-portioned. The white bread is super soft even after being toasted. -Chicken Caesar wrap - also simple and straightforward. They use a oil-based dressing so it's not as heavy -- good lunch option. You'll find me making a quick trip here again, most likely for lunch.

This is the third time we've been here. This place is really loud no matter how many people are in it. But it's nicely decorated and for the most part the staff is friendly. Stick to the appetizers and wings. Those are delicious! We both had pasta tonight. It was blah tasting and came with nothing- no bread, no salad. Nothing. It's a bar. Remember that and you'll have a great time.

One of my favorite bars aright out of the city, my friends and I are able to get drinks in good time, and never feel like it's too crowded nor too few people! Bartenders are great and very sociable, and do their jobs well!

EVERYTHING IS AMAZING!!! Food, drinks, atmosphere. Great place to go watch sports, throw some darts or just grab a drink/food. One of the best spots in Rochester, for sure!

I love this place because they have excellent karaoke! The service on the other hand during karaoke, could use some work. But I go here strictly for the karaoke and I have no complaints about that!

We had not been to the Wintonaire in quite some time. The place has been remodeled looks very good. The service was outstanding and surprising. They seemed to be going out of their way for great service which we appreciated. The corn beef and cabbage was very good with maybe the carrots a bit overcooked. My wife ordered wings that were one of the best she has had! We would've stayed at the bar for another drink but the music is so loud you can hear yourself talk. However that is not a reason to stay away. The food and the service is tops and we will be back.

The Simon Graduate School of Business hosts happy hour events all over the city for its students to socialize and network with fellow students and locals what seems every two weeks. This place has been the best place so far! We were greeted by the owner's mom who asked each of our names, and told us about her sons who own the place. After chatting with her for a while we met one of the sons who was working the bar and was an absolute sweeheart! And the libations were deeeelish! I didnt have any food, but I plan on it. I live right around the corner so I will definately be back for lunch or dinner. I am not sure if it was a marketing scheme or what, but usually we are greeted by some surly, disinterested security officer! I would prefer mom any day! Had a great experience! Thanks again Wintonaire!

Went here last night to watch a basketball game. Decent selection of beer on tap, good standard pub grub and really awesome prices. The interior of this place is really nice and new too. Great neighborhood bar with good service and atmosphere. Their wings were really good too actually, and they actually give you a full dozen instead of 10 like everywhere else. We'll definitely be back here.

AMAZING! Helping friends move into the city, and had the luck of stopping at the Wintonaire for lunch. First things first, since I can't wait to say it. FRENCH ONION SOUP. Look at the fact that I visited in summer, I'm not a huge fan of soup when eating out. But......the scent wafting to my nostrils summoned...no, commanded me to have a bowl. Wow, is the best way to sum it up. Salty, but not overpowering salty broth, a nice sized piece of french bread in the bottom of the bowl, and the chewiest, gooiest, most delicious cap of cheese. I then had a burger, which was delicious. The waitress was AWESOME on Saturday afternoon, as well as the barmaid that greeted us immediately when we walked in. An excellent visit, and will definitely be back again, and soon. If I'm enjoying french onion soup in this weather, I can only imagine what it'd be like in the winter. Oh, I'm going to be back.....you betcha!

I usually go on Sundays when its 2 for 1 drinks with friends. Its definitely a great atmosphere, good location and the crowd is always nice. I always enjoy my time there, the wings are pretty good as well.

Nice family place. Everything on their menu is good. They have anything you might be craving.

Let me start by telling everybody that this place is primarily a SPORTS BAR, not a restaurant. Yes, they do serve food (mostly fairly mediocre fried fare and burgers, absolutely nothing special), but they put you up where everybody can see the big TV screens, which, depending on what they are watching, can be turned up to almost ear-splitting volume. We went to eat here only because the Winfield across the street was so d@mn busy, and we were hungry. If you are looking for a decent restaurant, this place ain't it. We found out the hard way.... So, I guess if what you want to do is go out and drink while watching the game and get some fatty fried bar food, this place more than delivers. But, if you want a place for a nice sit-down meal, forget it.

I love the Wintonaire! The restaurant is mostly bar space and seating with plenty of televisions. They do have a side non-TVed restaurant seating area. This place does a great business--I have never been when the place was empty. The one issue is that the space can get pretty loud, but it was never to the point where I couldn't talk to someone across the table. They have great drink specials (and the drinks are cheap at their regular rate too). Note: I'm a beer drinker there, so that statement is based on beer, but I can't imagine other booze being too expensive there. The food at the Wintonaire is great. I have never been dissatisfied with a meal, and any adjustments I wanted to make to the meal was welcomed. On Sundays, at least during the football season, they have 30 cent wings. I have had them a few times since I the Wintonaire opened, and they have definitely tweaked their wings (now larger) and sauce (hot is now actually hot) over time. I absolutely love their waffled fries. So crispy and delicious. My friends have purchased meals there in the past and have always enjoyed them. The best part about the Wintonaire is the service and the family/owner. I have always been promptly welcomed when I walked through the door and shown to a seat at the bar or at a table. The owner has checked in on the tables, but never in an obnoxious or prolonged way. I highly suggest people check this place out. It's cheap, delicious, friendly, and has something for everyone.

Went here for the first time last night with my parents. It's a bar/restaurant with the bar and bar seating area taking up 75% of the interior space. It was loud, it's a BAR there are TV's on, but not so loud that we couldn't hear each other talk. This place has been vacant for quite a few years, after being known as Youngers ever since I can remember. I grew up in the neighborhood. My old library branch is right across the street and my dad gets his hair cut at Rocky's up the block. Before my time, it was known as the Wintonaire and apparently had quite the loyal following. Kudos to the owner for bringing hopefully some of the former grandeur back! Also two thumbs up for bringing more business into the City AND utilizing existing commercial space, further improving a great neighborhood!!!! Onto the food. We all enjoyed selections off of the sandwich section of the menu. This place is doing solid pub/bar grub. Healthy portions, homemade chips, quality components used in their dishes, etc... I enjoyed the chicken bacon cheddar wrap with french fries. They put mixed greens in the wrap (instead of gross iceburg) and keep the ranch dressing on the side for those who may not like it or want a little more caloric control. (although there IS cheese and bacon in it...shh!) The fries had that crispy potato flour coating on outside. They were cooked perfectly. There were a ton of them. Mom had the beef-on-weck, with a side of homemade chips. It looked like a perfect portion. There were a ton of chips (think Kettle potato chips!) but the roll wasn't the size of your head, which made the sandwich easier to eat and not overwhelming. Au jus and horseradish served on the side. Dad had the reuben with onion rings. (That's his restaurant barometer; how good of a reuben they serve.) It was served open-faced with cheese melted over the beef and 'kraut. Beef was not piled a mile high on the bread, so points there for not being a ridiculous portion. He thoroughly enjoyed it, and appreciated the fact that they sliced the corned beef instead of pulling it, or putting too-thick slabs on there. I didn't get a good look at any bevvie lists, but they have nightly drink and dining specials, and their bar looks pretty well stocked. Beer is bottled and on tap. I had a Genny Lite bottle. I had to keep it real. I know my parents will be back. The prices are right and the portions are perfect; it's a quick, close option for them. Nothing too crazy on the menu. I will go back and get my hands on one of their panini. They sound great. Check out the menu online. Just go check it out!

Our book group (4 couples) went on a Monday night. The waitress was attentive but not intrusive. The food was very good, generous servings, and inexpensive. I highly recommend this place for a casual meal. Notes: * there is limited parking behind the restaurant, otherwise it is on-street. * this is a bar/restaurant and has a neighborhood feel. * they have done a very good job of upgrading in the last two years.
