The first time I dined at Sushi Express I went for lunch with my brother; I had an eel roll and he had a salmon roll. All was well until a few hours later, brother got food poisoning. I decided to give them another shot, dined in with my boyfriend. Food was okay, definitely not better than the other sushi spots out there. I got take out from them just last weekend; 2 california rolls and a shrimp tempura roll. I have never been more sick in my life. Just because food is cooked doesn't mean it isn't contaminated (learned this from a doctor). 3 days later and I am still recuperating. I really wanted to like Sushi Express; the location is so convenient for me. Their mediocre food is definitely not worth getting sick for again in my book.

Worst Thai food EVER. Do not go here for Thai food. It's unfortunate. They did not even ask me if there was something else I would rather eat, and my server didn't pay much attention to me. Also, she got my order wrong, I asked for chicken in my soup, not shrimp. Poor service. I don't know how the sushi is here, but I will never know because I will never return.

I agree with the recent post about the Thai food!! We have been ordering sushi take out from them for years. Most of the time it is good. They recently added a whole separate menu for Thai under the name ( Thai Express). It was GROSS. Not Thai at all. I ordered yellow curry with tofu- was so watery and had no flavor just a whole lot of hot oil. Rice was plain white rice .The Thai iced tea was undrinkable, spring roll with dipping sauce -greasy.So disappointing. Stick to Sushi and you will be happy

I tried eating here a few times the first year they opened, but they always got the order wrong and it always smelled fishy when I went into pick up my order, so I stopped going after about a year. I tried it tonight again. The order was correct and there was no fishy smell in the restaurant, so off to a good start. The miso soup was bland and the fresh salmon in my roll was definitely old; I spit it out and couldn't finish it. The appetizer of salmon avocado salad at every other Japanese restaurant I've been to (and I've been to many) is fresh salmon and avocado pieces over cucumber drizzled with spicy mayo. Their salmon avocado salad is a green salad with salmon and avocado on top drenched in a very hot spicy sauce, so I threw that out too. The shrimp shumai I got for my son was commercial grade, like the microwaveable kind, and the chicken udon for my daughter was so pasty she said she was full after a few bites and pushed it away. The salad came with a nice big cup of ginger dressing, so that was good. Unfortunately, I won't be going back.

I wish I could give them zero stars. We have been going here for years and we never had a problem until recently. They must have had new owners. We ordered take out and it took about 1 1/2 hrs to receive; when they finally delivered it the whole order was wrong. We called and complained and THEY seems annoyed. They said they would fix the order. Well 45 mins later they came with a new order, and guess what it was wrong again! Tonight we gave them one more chance to redeem themselves. We dined in. When we walked in (there were 5 guys behind the sushi bar) they told us to sit anywhere, so we did. We sat there for 20 minutes and NO ONE came to our table not even for a drink order. We were all annoyed and stood up and walked out. They all saw us get up and none of them spoke a word to us. I am so done with them. DONT EAT THERE!

I ordered form the Thai menu. Big mistake. I had the Tom Yum Noodle Soup. Disgusting. It's obvious they don't have a clue about Thai food. It had no lemongrass flavor at all, the broth was a bright red, they gave me udon noodles, not rice noodles as it's supposed to have and it contained bell peppers which it's not supposed to have. GROSS. They didn't even know what fish sauce is. Stay away from here.

Need sushi in a hurry then this is the place for you. The food is overall good based on the food 4 stars, the restaurant itself isn't much to look at but given it's mostly takeout based what do you expect. I've been a customer since they opened.

They used to be good. Food was always fresh, but lately in the last several montgs it's just not. Plus they've made changes to skimp & save, like their Tuna/or Salmon Avacodo salad. They've started chopping it up into kiddie bite sized pieces & drown it in dressing. What are they trying to hide there? The fact that they use half the amount of fish on it now....perhaps it's not as fresh as it should be? I've never seen a sushi restaurant ever serve it like this!!! The last time I ordered several different menu items. It all seemed to taste a bit off to me & had a fishy smell to it. I threw one expensive meal in the garbage! Fresh sushi should never ever smell fishy! Being a past long time customer I've tried to give it more than a few chances & time for them to get their act back together...but it's not worth the risk of getting sick, wasting my money or being disappointed.

This small cozy restaurant offers a unique Japanese dining experience you cannot find around Long Island that is both affordable and delicious. First off: lots of options on the menu, ranging from specialty rolls to fried tempura, sashimi sushi, bento combination boxes. They usually offer your meal with rice, miso soup and a salad, which to me is considered a well rounded meal. I got the vegetable tempura meal with all of the above for less than $10. I also ordered a melon flavored Japanese ramune soda (those symbolic glass bottles that you need to pop the marble in order to drink it). Excellent experience to have if you have never popped open a soda like that before. There are two large flat screen tv monitors, and it was playing Kung fu panda during dinner. I really enjoyed the entire atmosphere as well as the deliciously made food. If anything I would suggest making the restaurant bigger so more people can come and enjoy this place. They also have delivery service so you can have an amazing meal delivered (if you live close by)

Came in for lunch because it was recommended. I wish I didn't step foot in there I know is a little harsh but I can't think of a better way to tone it down. Decor is plain 10 tables in the whole place, seats not very comfortable. Asked to start with edamame($4). I ordered the roll special: california, tuna, and yellowtail scallion, it came with a soup and salad. Basically, the soup and salad was the only thing that had it going for it. My boyfriend ordered a specialty roll I believe there was mango and tempura shrimp in it and it seemed okay to him. So what went wrong readers? We never got out edamames. Don't cross me when I'm hungry... More importantly I have to disagree with anyone that says the food is fresh. I spat out my sushi (california roll) and left food over. I'd agree with the other comment it was tasteless and just... off. I tried each roll and just couldn't bare finishing any. Clearly, not returning.

Love this place! Sushi is always fresh, delicious and good prices. Their speciality rolls are amazing! They are always busy so I recommend take out and call in advance.

We moved to the area a year ago from NYC where I was a sushi-freak - can and have eaten it 3xday/7 days a week. Tried several sushi places around here and so far found Sushi Express to deliver consistently fresh and yummy sushi! Now I'm a regular here ordering delivery once or twice a week. The food is really that fresh and good (hubby orders from the 'cooked' entrees and he has no complaints), decor of the place isn't much to talk about, but then again I only order delivery...I would highly recommend this great secret gem!

Great, cheap sushi spot with friendly attentive service. The decor is nothing fancy, but if I wanted to look at pretty walls I'd go to a museum, not a restaurant. Although simple, the place is also neat and clean, which is more important to me. They have a decent selection of beers and a pretty diverse wine selection. My girlfriend and I usually get the sushi boat for 2, which for $36 brings a boatload of fish. Our one "gripe" would be that dishes which are advertised as spicy (such as the Godzilla roll) are a little on the mild side. Otherwise, this place is low-key, non-pretentious spot to get our sushi-fix on!

This place came a long way since it first opened years ago! The rolls are creative and most a very good, but the spicy crunchy tuna and salmon rolls are kind of greasy...too much oil in the tempura flakes I guess. Try the "bagels" roll for some deep fried comfort food goodness! You can order online at GrubHub and they deliver pretty fast.

Just moved into the area and was craving some of that take out fish-crack, otherwise known as sushi. Stopped here on a whim, which is totally out of character for me when sushi is on the menu. The interior of the place wasn't the fanciest, but it certainly was clean and well kept, and the help was attentive as soon as I walked in. I was taking out, so I cant honestly judge the service here, although when got home, the food was meticulously packed, and all the utensils and generous portions of accompaniments were in the bag. The tuna was fresh and very dark, and the yellowtail was also tasty. Beef negimaki was a good portion, and the miso soup and side salad were very good as well. For the craving, this definitely put a smile on my face and I felt more than content when I was done. However, 3 stars for the drab interior.

Not a favorite .. Had food delivered. Service was good and packaged well. Hot items in one bag, cold in another. Problem was food. It was not great. Somewhat tasteless . With the variety of other sushi places around here, this one goes on the avoid list.
