Great food - shwarama was tasty and not too fatty/rubbery. They baked my bread fresh on the spot with designated pit style oven. Portion was large. Ambience is pleasant with lots of room. Not too loud. Service was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised by actually being served even though I chose the bat stool tables.

This place is decidedly mediocre because it is decidedly inconsistent. The food ranges from delicious and well seasoned (any of the kebobs) to overdone and bland (they sold me a well done barely seasoned unevenly cut steak when I ordered a medium rare one with extra seasoning). The already high prices seem to have gone even higher in the past month or so; their $27 steak printed on their takeout menu is now $35 in the span of me ordering the same thing in just a few weeks. Service is sometimes curt, sometimes warm and friendly. I don't think I'd be back for a while.

Man has this place gone downhill. It of course all starts at the top with a manager who does not care. I received a delivery and when I called up to complain that there were missing items, the manager said call back later as I'm busy dealing with other customers. When I called back later, he then said he said he would personally deliver the items himself. I was impressed until he said that he could only deliver the items after the restaurant closed. He said he would be over a bit before midnight. He was unwilling to send one of his normally deliverymen or issue me a refund for the missing items.

Food is ridiculously over priced here. 1 chicken skewer and salad for $21.00? Only 1? Really i eat at the finest restaurants and dont mind paying but this is a simple grill. I dont like feeling ripped off. It was good the food but not worth the price for 1 skewer like 6 cubes of meat

The food at Nargila is pretty good, if a bit pricey. That being said, it's a kosher meat restaurant, so what do you expect. Most of the times I've gone there I've ordered to go, and my review reflects this. The one time that I ate in the service was good and the food was good. The mixed grill is great and I usually get either falafel, shwarma, or chicken kabob in a lafa, which is a pretty good deal. The thing that bugs me about this place is that nearly every time I go there to order food to go, they keep me waiting for 20+ minutes, even when I call ahead. If it was just once or twice I would understand but it's happened several times and for that reason I don't really go there any more.

HORRIBLE service, waitress was really rude, food took over an hour to come out. Way over priced. Not recommended. Bad experience :-/

I have never felt so discriminated against in my life ..... The food was salty and other people got two pita instead of the one we got and the host just said to me "you are just not used to our food" are you fricking kidding me? I am a personal chef, I eat and cook all different cuisines for a living I feel like all the customers of the Jewish race were treated differently than we were. I will never ever eat there again. Also The guy said to me "you just don't know our food" really? Wtf

I held a surprise party for my husband's 50th birthday at Nargila Grill for 21 people on a Saturday night after Shabbos. Michael was sooooo accommodating and attentive to our guests. The food was delicious and the flow from appetizers to food to dessert was perfect. There was plenty of food for our guests and Michael was attentive to requests such as ice for soda or more pita. The restaurant was relatively empty (only one other smaller party going on) and we were able to linger after the meal in order to socialize and chat. This was a perfect location for our party. I would definitely eat here again next time I'm in the area.

Humous is off the charts good. I grab it as a take out platter all the time. This is the real deal just like you are in Israel -- fresh, tasty, full of flavor, seasoned, dripped with some oil, and real honest to goodness humous the way it is supposed to be. you can make a whole meal out of it.

One of the many reasons that I miss Detroit: kick-ass Mediterranean food on every corner. When I moved to NYC, I tried 2 or 3 places, and they were so awful I gave up. I can't believe it took me 8 months to find this place! We ordered hummus (pricey at $10, but tasty), chicken schwarma pita, Israeli salad, and the morrocan beef kofta. We were pleased with our selections and had lunch for two. We also ordered baklava, to go, which was amazing, and clearly homemade. There were only two other tables at 2:30 on a Wednesday afternoon, and everything was clearly made to order. The lunch specials are about half the price of the regular entrees, which is good to note. They also had a decent wine selection. We will definitely be back!

I never would have gone here if not for my cousin, who lives in the hood and was picking up the tab. The restaurant itself doesn't have much atmosphere, but I have never had better baba ghanoush in my life. The meze here are all really great. She loves the Shabbat-to-Go dinners, which seem expensive, but a meal for four feeds her family of five two or three times over. Even when a cousin shows up and eats most of the baba ghanoush. You have to pick it up a little early because of course they close before sundown on Fridays, but if I were having a dinner party on the UES and I didn't want to cook, I would definitely consider it.

Pass. Nargila your food preparation has taken a dive..not fresh. hard as rocks. If you go here.. order from the older worker.. Avoid the younger boy who doesn't enjoy his job.

The best Moroccan food . If you like spicy food this is the place to be. Very nice atmosphere. Very friendly staff excellent service. Thank you very much

Absolutely delicious. I only got take out from them so can't say much about the restaurant itself but the food quality is superb. The spring chicken and the lamb kebab are my favorites. In a Lafa of course. Their hummus is good too and unlike other places they spread it generously. If you're in need of good Israeli style Lafa that's the place to go.

Great food, friendly service, slightly better food then Pita Off the Corner, much better service. Same prices. Just one problem: they are constantly out of stock of the delicious peach and mango flavored Israeli juice that I love.

Upon placing our order, it took 75 mins for us to get our lunch (order was placed at 12:00pm and our offices are 13 blocks away). Restaurant staff reasoned the delay: "The fish takes time" (striped sea bass fillet). Our meals were cold when finally arrived. This was not the only time my colleagues and I ordered delivery with Nargila; each time it took eternity to have our lunch delivered. This place has good hummus. Israeli and tabbouleh salad contain vinegar rather than lemon; far from being as good as the real Israeli ones. Thank you, never again.

Still really good food: falafel, shawarma, and especially the wonderful, warm, homemade bread.

Terrible delivery through Delivery.com , stay away. No delivery after an hour. Called, no answer, no voicemail. Do not order from here.

Slightly disappointed. Made a reservation in advance online AND went in person earlier in the day to confirm the dinner reservation. Yet there was no table ready when we got there and they acted like we didn't make a reservation. Also, they did not provide us with a highchair as I requested in my reservation, even after I asked politely. They scrambled to set up a table but were not friendly, and didn't apologize for the inconvenience. They didn't bring a highchair till about an hour in. The food was ok overall, but some of it was cold when served. Hummus, pita, and fries were the best. Meat and chicken dishes and burgers were meh. Overall, the experience was lacking.

This is the saddest Shakshuka I have ever had. It is not Shakshuka at all. It was just pasta with light tomato sauce and 2 eggs. What a travesty!

I absolutely love the malewech here, it's just a bit on the pricey side. If it weren't for that, I'd be back every Sunday! Their falafel is delicious and we also have had the chicken schwarma pita. Next I'm looking to try the Morrocan beef kofta! I thought the service was phenomenal.

This is a pleasant restaurant and very friendly staff with a decent Middle Eastern menu. I don't normally eat in kosher restaurants, so I can only compare it to non-kosher. The food was fine, but far from exceptional. Nothing "interesting", not much flavor. The "saffron rice pilaf" had no saffron and I think they forgot to put the hot pepper in the spicy lamb dish I ate. But for people who like more mild tasting Middle Eastern food, this should please.

FOOD: I am not Jewish nor am I kosher so take this review as you will but Nargila is quite good food, especially falafel. I will still give it 4/5 since I have had better (the falafel at Yossi's Cart). However the food here at Nargila will not leave you disappointed. 4/5 SERVICE: Service is kind of OK if it is not crowded, but it is slow. You will have to wait and it is not super friendly...they prefer to give you your food and you go on your way. However no complaints . 3/5 AMBIENCE: Sort of like a deli in the front and a little bit like a restaurant in the back.. It can get a bit hectic with a lot of the staff shouting to each other at times, but other than that is quite OK. 3/5 PRICE/VALUE: Considering what good Glatt Kosher costs elsewhere in the city this is a reasonably good deal. Prices are about in line with what you might expect for upper east side Manhattan and the food is good, so you will get what you pay for. 4/5. SUMMARY: All in all not a bad Glatt Kosher place and a good place to get a falafel. Just go for the food, don't set your expectations unrealistically high and you will come away satisfied. 4/5

Very solid kosher place when visiting religious friends of mine in New York. Pricey, as all the New York kosher places are that I have visited with them, but very pleasant and the food was quite good. We found the drinks pretty terrible and undrinkable, and don't quite understand why there is no real beer on the menu. The juice with caramel and excessive sugar was revolting. Everything else was really nice, and the servers were kind and patient.

Do yourself a favor and skip this one. I recently moved to the neighborhood and had passed by this restaurant several times and after reading several positive yelp reviews, I decided to give it a try. Not only was the man who took my order (he appeared to be the owner's son) incredibly rude and disrespectful, the food is outrageously over priced for the portion sizes. Not to mention the food is also inedible. I am Middle Eastern and I would never call kibbe something that was essentially a fried pouch of cornmeal with meat that could compare to hot dog food oozing out of it. Stay far far away from this place!

How could I have not reviewed this place yet!?? This is by far one of the best Israeli restaurants in the city!! A girlfriend of mine who grew up in Israel kept running into people she had not seen in years from back home when we were here. Time and time again the beef shish-kabob, Israeli salad, **Hummus, and falafel don't fail. THEY ARE OUTSTANDING. The service here is less than sub-par but the food makes up for it if you're aware that the people working here (1.) will have an attitude (2.) are slow to wait on you,and (3.) are difficult to place an order with over the phone. The lunch portions are not much smaller than the dinner portions and the food at lunch is nearly half the price. So if you're interested in trying out this spot but don't want to spend the $$$$ then try coming here for lunch. Love the traditional nectar and juices that are available here and even the wine isn't bad. Date Rating: 7 (the lighting is a little on the bright side) Pick up Scale: 1 (unless you speak Hebrew and run into an old fling from back home) Strong Suggestions: Remember this place is very simple. If you order delivery don't have them put the hummus inside the pita it will get soggy. It's best to eat in person or specify that they leave it separate. NOTE: They are closed on Jewish holidays.

The people that answer the phone sound like they are upset with you for calling their restaurant. They are short and discourteous on the phone and you have to try hard to receive simple answers to questions like " what sides come with the white meat chicken cabob" On the other hand the hummus is the best I have ever had in my life, the Israeli salad is FRESH as can be imagined and the flat bread/pita is great as well. On a 1-10 scale I would say a solid 7 fits the bill, if the people were in a better mood I would toss them an 8.5.

I've never been to a restaurant whose prices are higher if you eat-in vs take-out. My friend and I walked in and ordered 2 sandwiches from the take-out menu (which was handed to us by a worker). One sandwich was $6.50 and the other $9.95. They have cafe tables in the front of the restaurant which were empty (different from the back of the restaurant which is clearly table service) so when the worker asked if we wanted to stay or go, we said we would eat right there at the cafe table. Well after eating the sandwiches, we went up to the cashier to pay and he handed us a check that was over $22! When we asked why the prices were so high, the worker told us the price is higher if you eat-in. Wish he would have warned us about that when he asked before if we were staying or going! $22 for 2 sandwiches?!?!?! Over-priced and not very friendly - I expect more for what I paid.

this place is AWESOME. We went to NY a few weeks ago from Toronto with this restaurant in mind among other reasons to go to the big apple. The food alone would give the place a 5/5 stars. Best Israeli-middle eastern food in Manhattan, hands down. And we've been to several others. This was probably our 5th time we went in 2 trips to NY. Again, food is great, service is good, the place is very clean and nice. Only minor detail is the price. It is a bit pricey for not being an upscale place. An almost secluded, tucked far-away in the UES of Manhattan that is not that posh should charge less for their food. If it wasn't for the prices I'd give it a 5/5, other than that your palate will enjoy this place like no other if you're into mediterranean/israeli/middleeastern food.

As a Kosher spot, pretty good. Compared to everywhere else, not impressive. I go here once a year or so whenever Kosher relatives are in town. Food is good but overpriced, which is expected as a Kosher restaurant. The service is slow but friendly, and the pita is fresh. The falafel appetizer is really good and affordable.

Nargila offers delicious Israeli food and not-so-fabulous service, which is why I usually rely on take-out. The falafel and hummus are delicious -- it's a much more worthy venue than Pita Grill, which is one block to the east and several rungs down on the standards ladder. The crowd skews older, which isn't so surprising given the neighborhood. It's a kosher restaurant, so it's closed from Friday night through Saturday evening, and on all Jewish holidays.

My sister and I swear to the hummus of this place. Its sooo good. You can get a falafel platter (with 5 falafel balls) for 10 bucks and you can share it with two other people. Its so good. They're pretty generous with the pita bread too and I loove their pita bread. their pita bread is so moist and thick, unlike the hummus place's pita bread (which I think i store bought because its so god damn dry). I just want to say that they're extremely busy on sunday nights though. I had to wait forever just to get a take out of the falafel platter.

Anyone that asks for a good Kosher restaurant in the city I point them in Nargila's direction. They have a great menu, I haven't had anything that I didn't like so far, and I will continue to come here!

The food may be acceptable but be prepared to wait well over an hour if you order from this place. Totally not worth it.

Oh, Nargila. Why are you always closed? First was the flood, and you were closed the ENTIRE weekend I was visiting. Fine. But why aren't you open on a Friday night so my boyfriend can grab me a falafel pita and bring it to me in Boston??? I'm dying for a fix, man. Help a girl out!

Good Middle Eastern food, Priced reasonably. Nothing like a grilled Schwarma or some of their marinated chicken. While the seating restaurant itself is not fancy, I like it. Also they are good about take out if you call in advance. Two thumbs up!!

I have been here several times with my adult children and with friends. The food is always plentiful and fresh. The service gets slower with each visit, but I do love the food. The waitresses aim to please.
