I was absolutely elated to see this new cafe/resto open up in Yorkville. There isn't too much over this way that's nicer than a diner or a coffee shop and not chock full of old ladies with lapdogs, so it's really a treat to be able to dash out to such a luxe feeling downtown-y restaurant, without the 45min walk and subway ride to SoHo or NoLIta. The menu is pretty much everything that is amazing about French food (do we say Monoccan food? ;), both delicious and crafted, decadent and elegant in its simplicity: they have both a terrine and a confit re foie gras and it's made in-house, which already blew my mind. A few other apps were the crab cake and a shrimp cocktail. Next time I'm definitely getting the crab cakes, they looked gorgeous. Salad section will not surprise, but it adds some French touches, like the joyfulness of lardons ;) and anchovies to the usual suspects. For mains there is a handful of seafood choices and a few meat options, in the hearty heavy but moderate portions a la francaise. Duck leg confit, roasted chicken, coq au vin -- perfect for the colder nights ahead, and the UES specialty: hangar steak with poivre sauce! Overall, the sense of the curated menu with the items with few, carefully chosen and created parts is the key here. Very French, very awesome. The ambiance is both warm and cool, with the music really adding to the setting. Just like the place itself: chic enough to be super French, but close enough to Italy to have that relaxed cool vibe. I'm super excited to become a regular here, and I hope they continue to expand and evolve their menu with the seasons.

Amazing! Stumbled upon this place and so happy I did! Went for dinner with my husband and we order more than we needed just to try it all. Started with French onion soup that was delish. Close to the best I ever had. Then had the house special spinach and goat cheese ravioli and they were very good. For main courses we had delicious skate fish and the skirt steak with fries. The fish was great, served with amazing mashed potatoes and very light frisée salad. The steak was cooked perfectly and in a delicious sauce. Both of our plates were emptied! We shared a fantastic crème brûlée for dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant, all of the staff are super sweet and Alexandra, the owner, makes a conscious effort to come over and see how everything is going. She is a hands-on owner that really cares about the success of her new place. Please check it out, always great to see a new restaurant in this neighborhood filled with nice people and nice staff. For what it's worth, the tables on either side of us were both raving about how great their food was as well.

I am from Paris and I have very high standards when it comes to food when going out and I found the food there to be perfection. There is no skimping on quality and you can tell that everything is made in the kitchen. The service is perfect as well. The French owner is present and very welcoming. I hadn't had a coq au vin since I left the motherland and it was a pleasure to experience the same level of taste and presentation that I would have at a high-end Parisian restaurant. I will recommend it warmly.

Great service, good food, we ordered barbajuans for share (fried ravioli spinach) it is ok, had lobster vol au vent and traditional coq au vin for main and apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Definitely recommend the lobster and dessert. Love the lobster juice, which is a little bit like lobster bisque, and the combination with puff pastry. Apple pie is thin and crusty with perfect balance of sourness and sweetness, top with homemade vanilla ice cream!

We were looking forward to a new neighborhood place, and with French food to boot. We were so disappointed by the amateurish service, and our waiter was downright rude, telling us brusquely that he would not tell us highlights of the menu until we told him what we wanted to eat. wtf? The nice manager stepped in, but still. Re the food, my dinner was good, but my husband's duck was not.

The food wasn't very good. The service was worse. Ordered a cheese plate appetizer at the beginning of the meal. When I asked about it the server said that the cheese APPETIZER was served AFTER the meal. We asked about it again after the meal when the restaurant was completely empty. After 15 minutes it never arrived I walked up to the bar handed them my card and closed out. Lazy servers.

Really liked the food, hated the crowd. I suppose that isn't the restaurant's fault. But what a tacky bunch of people. Our waiter, Oscar, was delightful. Crab cake appetizer very filling. Great for sharing or could be a main with a side dish. The hostess was dressed very inappropriately/unprofessionally for a restaurant. She needs to up her game.

Having now visited this place 3 times since it opened 2 months back I'm qualified to write a review! Excited to see another new spot opening, adding to the cluster of great spots towards 2nd Ave. Having walked past the awning for several months waiting for it to open I was worried this would go down the road of trying to appeal to the "high end" and be yet another "$35 for a plate of pasta" place.. However, was extremely pleasantly surprised when it finally opened. Menu is great and very reasonably priced (ignoring the Dover sole!). Had cocktails then dinner here, food was fantastic, coq au vin and moules frites, very tasty and perfect portion size. Came back for brunch the first weekend that they did a brunch, and whilst it was nice, it was very focused on "egg" dishes. Met the lovely French lady who runs the place and she chatted about how they were still fine tuning everything. 2 weeks later the brunch menu had been updated and came back with the kids, for a fantastic mix, pastry basket, French toast, pancakes, etc. I only wish it opened a bit earlier for brunch. Lovely place, charming people, open yet warm space, and reasonably priced. Definitely check it out if you haven't yet

We had a private lunch for 30 people at Monte Carlo and it was excellent in every way! The food was delicious, service was excellent, and space was perfect. The prices are very reasonable and every morsel was just delightful. Also, the space is light, bright and very contemporary while also cozy. I don't know how they do it but it's great. The owner was really easy to work with to make the event special for children and adults. I highly recommend for a private event but would also go back for dinner or lunch.

What a wonderful new find. Went with my son for a Mother's Day treat; and a treat it was! I intend to tell all of my friends and hope to return to this little jewel many times. Great food, great service, wonderful host, and special atmosphere

This new restaurant, in the same location as several failed establishments, shows signs of going in the same direction. The food is good, not great, and slow to arrive; portions aren't generous. There was no reason for this, at prime dinner time on a Saturday night and the room had plenty of empty tables. Drinks are well-made. They don't serve lunch.

Very happy to see this resturant reopen and serve simple authentic French food. I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The crab cake, skate, coq au vin, and duck leg are all delicious.

Delicious! A more private view from the exterior with curtains on the windows on a normally quiet UES street; tight seating accompanied by a youthful staff makes this restaurant curiously inviting and available. Background EDM was replaced by the noise of diners post 7:00 PM, who represented an established UES clientele; loved the food. Plan to be back soon. Recommend floral arrangements or candles on the tables.

Went here with my girl for a celebratory dinner out. From start to finish, the dinner was top class. We started with the salmon and crostini plate... Huge, heaping plate of a smoked salmon spread with little crisp breads. I got the casino royal cocktail... Subtle, yet strong and smooth. The mains were the special, duck l'orange, cooked to perfection and so much duck, I couldn't finish it. She got the M-C burger... Hands down the best, most classy burger I've had in NYC... The olive mayo is really rare and special. Overall, an excellent dinner that rivals any place we have been to in New York. Also, their playlist was great: when we arrived, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder... 2 hours later we were putting on our coats to Kraftwerk. Decor is pretty fancy, simple and elegant... Which made the soundtrack even more enjoyable. Highly recommended.

This new spot is a total gem! The decor is very simple, all white which is refreshing. It's a great spot for a romantic and quieter dinner. The food was fabulous and the service was top notch. They have a small cute little bar as well. It's a little on the expensive side but here you get what you pay for- a superb dining experience.

This place is destined to go the way of its predecessors in this location. $15 the cheapest glass of wine? The service was welcoming; the restaurant was fairly empty. The food...meh!!

Just had dinner here and was pleasantly surprised. Nice atmosphere, food was good, service attentive. Had the Caesar salad, lobster dish and the hanger steak. I'll be honest that I didn't love the lobster (I didn't care for the sauce, but the lobster itself and the pastry were perfect) so I switched with a friend who filled up on the white bread (which was better than the wheat roll). Cocktails were good especially the roulette. I would definitely repeat this meal.

So glad that my boyfriend discovered this amazing French restaurant. I wasn't sure what to expect because we found this restaurant through restaurant.com ! The food is so delicious. Those fried raviolis are a little piece a of heaven! We also ordered the skate fish that was just right and the duck. But the dessert was the best. These chocolate drizzled ice cream sandwiches that were made w cream puffs were to die for! Aw man! I am craving one right now. Alex the manager is cool too. She gave me her card and told me about these dance/brunch parties that they are going to have on Sunday's in about a month. I'll see you soon! Yum yum yum

Had dinner here tonight for the first time: French onion soup: A- , seared tuna special with mushrooms and port sauce: A , apple tarte with vanilla ice cream: A+ . My only complaint is the way the bill is processed: After presenting you with a conventional paper pre-tip invoice, an iPad is brought to the table preprogrammed with tip percentages: e.g., no tip, 10%, 20%. No way to give 18%. Worse, the tax is included when the designated tip is calculated, thus in effect inflating the tip. (Best to avoid these two problems by paying the tip in cash.) Worst, no final receipt is provided, so you have no paper record of how much you actually paid, including tip, unless you specifically ask that the tip and grand total be added by hand. Otherwise, when your credit card bill arrives next month, you won't know if the amount listed for this restaurant is correct or not. That gamble might be acceptible in Monte Carlo, but not in New York! It's a shame that this questionable (and easily corrected) billing method casts a shadow on what is otherwise a most enjoyable dining experience.
