This bakery was buzzing on a relatively empty street, so I had to stop in. At 9am, the buns were still warm from the oven. This Chinese bakery has classic breakfast foods like youtiao, doujiang, and even a fried egg and spam sandwich. I ended up getting a mini pineapple bun. $0.50/ea, 3 for $1.25. I love pineapple buns, but sometimes I don't feel like having one the size of my face. What made this bun different from most Chinatown bakeries is that the dough is reminiscent of a croissant texture. Light, buttery, fluffy, and quickly devoured. I also got a red bean pineapple bun ($0.80). The soft dough had deflated and turned chewy by the time lunch rolled around, but the massive bun was generously topped with egg crust, painting it a radioactive orange shade. A +star for using real chunks of red bean in the filling instead of red bean paste. I'll definitely be stopping by if I'm in the area again.

Based on one visit in the afternoon, this is one of the best Chinese bakeries I've visited. The coconut buns are far better than standard, and still taste fresh in the afternoon. And my friend got some kind of peculiar but delicious ham or pork bun. Also, the lady staffing May May was very friendly (in contrast to the other bakery just a few doors down to the south, where we walked out because they were very unpleasant). I'll be back to try a taro bun.

This bakery is located on the corner of 11th Avenue and 63rd Street. It's a small bakery with two tables inside. I've been here many times before and I'm still a regular at this place. I usually come here for breakfast only. They have so many things to choose from. Stir-fried mei fun noodles, steamed pork buns, spare rib over rice and many different selections of buns. YUM! My favorite is their dried shrimp rice noodle roll. Their noodles are super soft and they put so much scallion and dried shrimp in it. OOh..they also sell chinese newspapers there so you can grab and go!

Great buns and very affordable. It also helps they are always open at 7am. Can always get a fresh bun and a hot coffee before I go to work!!

All I can say is that they have created the crack magic for coffee. I will still go to Chinatown at 6 am to get the coffee with LIQUID SUGAR that makes your heart go boom boom boom and makes you want to run to Africa and heal the world!!! Fist pump!!!!

Umm can we say yum?? All together now.....YUM! Got a bag full of goodies for less than $5. My sister saved her coconut bun for the next day cause she was so stuffed and it was still as delicious as mine had been. I had the fried egg and spam sandwich cause I mean when else will I eat spam and it was better than I expected.

Not the greatest selection nor the friendliest of places.

Believe it or not, New May May is almost idential to Old May May, so don't fall for the false promotion. Bakery goods are, well, good. Get some hot buns early in the morning. I don't know how to pronounce the names but they have a pineapple bun that's excellent. I love the doughey taste of their buns.
