Hit or miss, depending on what you are ordering. The designer slices are good if you are adventurous. The Shrimp is my favorite, but if you don't like grease, stay away! The Pizza for a New York pizza place, is not anywhere near noteworthiness, and it amazes me how forgiving Long Islanders can be about mediocre pizza. I order from there because it's ok and nearby, and for no other reason. The Calzones.... this is one of the few places I know of that 'deep fry' a Calzone (make sure you ask). There is nothing, and I mean nothing that can compare to a Calzone done this way. If they would only use a better Ricotta, this place would get a 10 from me for this dish. The restaurant is horrible, and a lot of cold cuts are used with their dishes, which of course is just not italian, but it is lazy when it comes to filling up a plate. The wine selection is really bad, and the quality of the dishes borderlines on cafeteria style. Don't have dinner here, go to some place nice. Do order a pizza here if you need it quick or don't know the area, but I would ask for extra cheese if you do.

Once again I rarely give out 5 stars, but Cafe Gio has earned it! The best place in the Babylon area for Italian food and blows away Pizzaiola! You will not find a better Sicilian slice anywhere and the amount of sauce on it is great! If you plan on dining in, be in for a pleasant surprise. The food is ALWAYS fresh here and it has never let me down! The decor is really nice and the service is really good. I have been coming here ever since Pizzaiola has gone downhill. The owner Sal is a nice guy and he is always involved in his work here. I just hope this place doesn't cut corners like other places do cause that will be a total shame.

Chicken night is a great deal and includes bread, a salad, a choice of about 15 different chicken entrees, pasta, coffee/tea, and dessert. All for under $15!! The portions are huge. The only complaint I have is that the chicken can be a bit tough at the end of the cutlets. I think that they need to do a better job of trimming the chicken and tenderizing it before cooking it, but knowing that, I just eat around it. As I said, the portion sizes are huge, so I can forgive that. Besides, with the amount of business and the quantity of chicken cutlets they must go through every Thursday night, I can understand when one or two pieces of chicken are a little fatty and tough on the edge...

L'italiano cibo e' fantastico! (The italian food is fantastic for all you non-Italians out there ^_^) I used to come to this place firstly for pizza because they not only have a great selection of yummy pizza to choose from, but they also have a "restaurant" portion where you can sit down and enjoy a full three course Italian style dinner. The restaurant menu is out of this world! So many classic Italian dishes/options to choose from! Don't get me wrong a little pricey, but definitely worth it. When I took one of my friends here we both couldn't finish our plates and ended up having left overs. I think for both of us a full three course dinner was around $30-$40. Not too shabby, but definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for some pretty dayum good l'italiano cibo :]

Pizza is pretty good, the restaurant has some good weekly specials. They did get new kiosks for a reward/loyalty system that the staff knew nothing about, and referred me to come back when the owner is in as he is the only one who knows how to use it.

Mmm first slice of NY pizza I've had and it was here, and very well worth it at that.
Pizza's awesome esp. the chicken parm slice. Restaurant part is ok but overpriced. Still a great place, though.

I took a Realtor continuing education class on Sunrise Highway Saturday and had just 40 minutes to Yelp, travel, purchase and eat lunch. I choose Cafe Gio, due to its proximaty and reviews. Still a bit hung over from the previous nights revelry, I choose to eat hearty. I ordered an open faced grilled chicken sandwich with a huge slice of mozzerela cheese, and some greens. I don't remember the name of it, but it was OMG good. Didn't even need the side of vinegarette good. Like, did Paula eat that entire sandwich good? Yes, that good. And it's on the North side of Sunrise Highway, which I travel on, on my way home from work. Mmmmmm.

It's a good pizza place but a subpar Italian restaurant. The garlic knot pizza is definitely worth trying.

I've always liked Cafe Gio. We used to go there all the time. Great food! But I went there tonight and I was totally grossed out! At the pizza counter, they exchange the money directly over the pizza!!!! OMG I almost puked. I ordered a Buffalo slice. It looked really good. So the girl says $5.25 and I go to hand her the money and I realize that there is no way for me to hand her the money without exchanging it directly over a pizza pie!!! Only half the pizzas are covered by glass. The rest of them are sitting right there waiting for your pocket lint to drop right onto them. I almost cancelled my order but I figured what the heck, I've probably eaten worst things that I didn't know about. But this is a problem with a lot of pizzerias in our area. It's a health code violation! But for some reason, these shop owners think the health code only counts when the SCDHS inspector is in the house. As for the Buffalo chicken slice. It was good. Very tasty. Too much blue cheese dressing for my taste. They should put a less blue cheese dressing and replace it with crumbled blue cheese and it would be perfect. But overall the slice was pretty good. They really need to do something about the pizzas not being covered where the money is exchanged. It's gross! I really drives me crazy that the owner and everyone working there doesn't realize how disgusting this is. I won't be back unless they correct this.

This place has really gone downhill. Terrible service, the manager is unprofessional and has a bad attitude and worst of all the food is gross! We decided to stop eating there because the atmosphere is terrible and so we ordered in a pepperoni pizza and they delivered a box of slop. When I called for the manager, he was nasty and basically didn't care. Don't waste your time or money!

Lunch Specials are enough food for a dinner. Good food. Don't order stupid stuff. Stick to simple red sauce Italian and pizza. Why would you think that a pizzeria makes good Thai food? Relax. The guys behind the counter are gonna give you attitude. It's a wise-guy thing. Don't bother trying to figure out what the slice girls problem is. She's just a b!tch

I use to go to cafe geo all the time but these last six months I found that it went down hill my daughter and I ordered pasta to get delivered it took forever to come and when it did it was horrible dried out the portion was so small, that was just one example I could go on and on. Bottom line I stopped going plenty of other places to go giving one star cause I have to.

Wanted to try a new place so I decided to give Cafe Gio a shot. BIG MISTAKE!!! The food arrived after an hour and 45 minutes ice cold. I googled mapped the distance and i am only 2 miles away. Don't order the soup unless you love progresso's pasta fagioli, they open a can there yah go. The only thing that I really liked was the house dressing this actually did not come out of a can and was homemade.

God I love writing reviews for pizza cause It all comes back to me on how many I have been to. I like this place. Garlic knot pizza is a must and they started this trend. No one does it better. The sit down is very nice also. I have done that many times for first birthdays, confirmations etc...

In a word? Yum! So I recently moved into this area, and on moving day we were looking for a local pizzeria to grab some food for our trusty moving helpers. I stumbled upon this place, and it looks like I picked the best of the lot right off the bat! The pizza here is DELICIOUS! But that's not all! The regular food is fantastic as well! They have weekly Pasta Night specials on Mondays and Chicken Night Specials on Thursdays. These come with your choice of dish, a salad, garlic knots, coffee or tea, and dessert. Trust me on this, when you go, get the cheesecake for dessert. I don't know where they get it from, but it is BY FAR the single best slice of cheesecake I've EVER eaten. Better than Whistle Stop? Yes. Better than Cheesecake Factory? Yes. Better than Juniors? Hell yes! This is now my GO-TO Italian place in my new area. See you there!

There are so many better pizza places on the island. This place is over priced and the pizza is sub par when compared to other pizzerias in the immediate area. the take out portions are small and the slices are just not good. they have recently seemed to add more specialty slices but those to lack when compared to other places. final thoughts: go somewhere else.

Just like sitting at your mom's house. I've been hearing about this place for some time now and when a friend suggested a few of us meet for dinner he mentioned this place. Cafe Gio is a jazzed up pizza place. Upon entering you can get pies and slices to go. The pizza end of it takes up maybe 1/6th of the available space with the rest given over to the sit down restaurant part. There are no reservations so you wait in line and get a table. The wait is worth it. The place is absolutely hopping with a load of happy diners munching away. The room is noisy and crowded - if you are looking for intimacy, this is not the place. If you are looking for excellent food at a great price - you found the right spot. It would appear that they have some sort of "special" night - every night. Thursday is chicken special night - with no less than 22 chicken dishes available. The regular menu has all of your usual Italian favorites and is quite comprehensive. Something for everyone is on that menu. The wines are middle of the road- not too terribly bad but nothing really decent. Service is great for the most part- the waitress was wonderful, the busser was like an automaton - no expression on his face of any kind even when we tried to flag him down for something... Great place- you need to try the food. Big parking out front.

Great pizza, reminds me of the Brooklyn pizza I grew up on. Staff is pleasant and helpful. Restaurant menu has a nice selection of classic Italian choices. Great tasting food and not to hard on the wallet. Have not tried it yet but have heard the Sunday sauce is to die for. Looking forward to trying the Sunday sauce soon.

This is my second review for the place.... I love their dinners and salads but their pizza is mediocre... I suspect this is because they put more TLC into their non pizza items. I used to have more love for their pizza but I have lost some of it. They really need to switch it up, it seems like a lot of their specialty slices are chicken related and believe it or not, not everyone likes chicken, some people like pulled pork or alla vodka or a basked ziti slice, c'mon Cafe Gio... do something different, you got it in you! I will say that when the white slice is available, get it, and their deep friend calzones are like heaven, yea it's deep fried, but it's a freakin calzone! It's so fattening to begin with, if you wanna stay fit and trim stick with their regular salad, it's amazing but alas.... it aint no deep friend calzone.... mmm mmm good. I do like their staff, we did have a huge issue with a gift card we had... long story short we were charged double and the guy couldn't fix it at the time so our gift card was almost used up because of this mistake but when we went again the next day someone else fixed it but seemed annoyed... it's almost like they expected us to just say " Whatever no biggie", it was a 9 dollar order that was charged for 18 on a 25 dollar gift card, so yea it was a big deal. The thing is... pizza places get busy and I notice a lot of the workers (in pizza places in general) are on edge a lot... it's a very hot kitchen and a lot of orders, I can see why they occasionally get a little annoyed or flustered... so that's why I am writing about the experience but not allowing it to affect this review.
