I order take out and have dined in with this lovely family. I'm a fan of the entrees, note the rice and beans are nothing special but good because of that. Definitely a neighborhood favorite!

Disappointed. After all the good reviews here, I was eager to get a chance to try a new taco joint while in this neighborhood. Pork taco - Carnitas - was actually served diced. Carnitas should be shredded. The diced meat was very fat. Many cubes of fat skin. I'm a gringo so I shun the big chunks of fat. There was not much seasoning. Beef taco - better than the Carnitas, but overall bland in taste. I got the "everything" extras on the tacos. That means slices of avocado and other stuff, for some extra $. I would not recommend this, as it did not make the tacos any better.

Ahhhh Cholula's...how I love you. I tried really hard to not write this review because I don't want anyone to discover my spot but I have to. I've been coming to this Cholula's (not the other ones around the hood) for YEARS. Between my boyfriend and I we have probably tasted the entire menu. THIS CHOLULA'S IS THE BEST ONE. Forget the other ones. This the best. Why is this the best one: - the lady manager/owner is super sweet and loves to talk shop about food and cooking - the green sauce is magical. Despite the recent onslaught of hipsters they have not lowered the spice. It is magical, it clears you sinuses and it cleanses your soul. - the chicken used in any of the fried dishes (tostadas, flautas, etc) is incredibly flavorful. It's herby, garlicy and just perfectly cooked. - the carne cecina is yum yum. its the right amount of salty and incredibly tender. - get anything with chorizo it's gonna be good. - pollo a la mexicana is tender, spicy, flavorful and the serving size is no joke. As to delivery: its very slow. I'm not even going to take one star off because despite it being slow it's still really good food. I've come to this place so much with my fiance and love it so much I legit thought he was going to propose here. If my heart were a room, Cholula's would be the comfy couch and the green sauce would be the snuggie I wear as I watch TV. Seriously, I love this place.

Ordered from grubhub. Mediocre food. Burritos are ok. The bananas with cream were pretty gross, looked like a bukkake scene. Have you ever gotten an entree at a mexican place which normally comes with rice and beans and not get beans? Well that's Cholulita for you.

I love this place so much that it pushed me to write my first Yelp review. Cheap and good. Beef tacos here are my favorite. Always ask for hot sauce (they don't keep the green stuff on the table with the inferior condiments). Make sure to tip well cause they work hard here. Don't be fooled, Even if the restaurant is mostly empty they are often literally running around trying to keep up with the take out orders.

Wow, after living in the Middle East for a year it's such a treat it come back to excellent Mexican food here. Cholulita blows the competition in the area away. Everything is super fresh here, and they get everything you order correct. The salsas are all fresh and when you ask for the picante it is picante. I stuck mostly with chorizo and longaniza, but I'd be willing to bet everything on their menu is excellent. It's also a tienda, like we have in the South where it is both a small restaurant, as well as great Mexican grocery. This is a really impressive place.

This place is great! Really humble settings, local crowd, the good was very tasty & fresh. I just had the tacos which had ample fillings & a very fresh coriander/cilantro salsa on the side. It's essentially a shop & deli for all things Mexican/Latin American, but with a kitchen & number of tables to eat at. The price is on point, & the service is direct. I loved it!

My neighborhood hole in the wall Mexican place that serves some of the best mole sauce on the East Coast. Fair prices, fast service, and great horchata! My go-to at least once a week.

Five stars considering the category. This is basically a bodega with seating, but the food is really good! It's surprisingly fresh and tasty, and at an excellent price. If you want a fancy sit down experience with table service and top-shelf cocktails, this isn't for you. But if you want a quick, cheap and delicious meal with no frills, this place is awesome.

Service: I order pick up all the time, the guy jokes around with me sometimes when I pick up. It's always super fast. Food: Almost always order the grilled or breaded chicken cemita. All the roomies agree it's delicious. Burrito with fries is a good hangover jam. Had a few of the tacos, skip the tongue, but the steak is good. Sodas are overpriced, but they do have mexican coke! Atmosphere: Deli-ish, with several tables. I like it here.

I was tired of the Chinese and Italian take out rotation I've held going on a year plus, so I went walking around the neighborhood to find something new. Luckily I found Cholulita, the best Mexican restaurant I've ever known. The atmosphere is authentic, the staff is cordial and professional, and most importantly the food is spectacular. I always get the chicken taco deluxes ($3 for one, great deal) but more adventurous friends and family love the burritos and enchiladas. My family is of Hispanic heritage, so we are hesitant to try non-homemade beans, but these guys knock it out of the park. Good prices, great food for cheap.

I have a theory about all those "you can't find good Mexican in NY" type people. Actually it is a two-part theory, of which one of them applies to most of them. They either (1) are addicted to fresh, delicious avocado, of the type not constantly on offer in this fair city, or (2) are lazy idiots. So yeah, #1 is acceptable, people like avocado. Hell, I know I do. But #2, not acceptable. Get on the subway you big jerks! Mexican restaurants in Manhattan (and many other places, unfortunately) are not catered to anything but Tex-Mex tastes, for the most part. You're going to have to deal with that. Another example: Cholula Bella Deli on the Bedstuy-Bushwick border, under the JMZ line. I happened in one early afternoon during a bike ride from South Williamsburg to Bushwick, instantly knowing it was right up my alley. The menu is all-encompassing, and very, very economical. On this visit, tostadas ($2) grabbed my fancy and I ordered one with carnitas (roasted pork) and the other with cecina (salted/dried beef). After ordering, I grabbed one of about 20 seats available in the back near the refrigerator cases and enjoyed the comfortable lime green surroundings. As most Mexican establishments are, this place equally carried on its pride for the home country, on the walls, tablecloths, and decorations. Later that night I was dining at home on the cemita ($5) I took for take out. The sandwich, which I had prepared with chorizo, was possibly the best "leftovers" I have ever had, making me wonder how something so simple could be so beautiful. The hours in between meals gave the chipotle ample time to meander through the other ingredients and sesame bun.

I like this place, the food is not the best but its acceotable. We've had the tacos, sopes , enchilladas, quesadillas and burritos which were all enjoyable. I would avoid their rice its just no good and the lettuce is sometimes wilted. The atmosphere is so home like it makes the eating experience better.

Oh hey Huitlacoche, how do you do? You are so very very corn smutty, and I just don't know what to do with myself. The very fact that your name translated into Ingles is Corn Smut just goes to show how good this thing is. Mold on a corn? Who gives! I want you in my quesadilla whenever I'm feeling sad, or tired, or really fucking excited cuz I'm about to eat you from Cholula Bella (but I always thought you name was Bella Cholula!?) Great guacamole, great salsa, a little slow on the service side but if you want some damn good Mexican food and feel the urge to eat some pork rinds, be my guest. Great people, delicious food, nice JMZ ambiance to set the mood.

For the money, this place is quite good. For the money, my quesedilla ($4) was really delicious. For the money, I'd say the service was ok. Good on a budget, not fine dining by any stretch of the imagination.

I just moved into the neighborhood, so I've been grabbing menus left and right whenever I pass a place that looks halfway decent. I googled Cholula Deli when I got home and saw that the food critic from the Village Voice listed their huarache de pollo as one of his 100 favorite dishes, or something like that. Intrigued, I thought I'd give it a try--even though I had only a vague idea of what a huarache might be. I was not disappointed. I ordered the huarache de pollo to go, but I had a good long look at their dining area in the back. It was very clean and I wouldn't have minded dining in. The chicken was moist and flavorful, although the beans could have used maybe a pinch more salt. (Not going to let that affect my five-star review, though.) For such a tasty meal, $4 bucks is a total steal. Highly recommended. Next time, I'm trying a burrito.

We order from this place at least twice a week. Pete gets the tacos, I usually get a burrito, and Larry enjoys a burrito as well. Chilaquiles w/ huevos will keep you coming back. It's one of those things that they nail. Also the torta's, tostadas and cemitas are all nearly perfect. Chicken is the way to go. The carnitas tends to be a little fatty, which is why I started opting for the chicken instead. Chicken burrito comes with fries which is a little weird for a Mexican spot but I am definitely not complaining. It's a little greasy but comes with all the essentials, however some pico de gallo would help add to the mushy consistency of chicken, rice and cheese. The tacos are very very good and for $5 you get two of them and a drink. Can't beat that!

This was the first restaurant I went to on the day I moved to New York. That said, I felt it necessary to also make it my first yelp review. I like sitting inside of this place because it feels at any moment a mexican cowboy will walk inside and peel off a couple of rounds from a revolver and then flee. Scenes from Ammores Perros or a Cormac McCarthy novel could be filmed here. Something about the blaring music and wan faces of the women that work there. Also, none of them seem to have much of a handle on english, and I don't know if it would be rude to order in spanish. Thus, I have an awkward time asking questions about the menu or even something as simple as a glass of water. I've decided that next time I go in here I will just order in spanish and save everyone the trouble. So on to the food... I have one bit of advice. Order the Milanese de Pollo Cemita. Everything else at this place is just plain nasty. It was the first sandwich I had here, and it is truly a delight of the highest order. I love it. Sadly, everything else I've had here has been pretty awful. Nachos, burritos, steak platters, etc. and every time they have been bland, muttony and greasy. If I didn't happen to be so lucky to have that sandwich the first time I went there I don't think I would have ever come back again. But take it for what it is, that one sandwich has preserved a hope inside me that there must be something else they have that is at least close to that quality. I have yet to find it. Also worth mentioning is the various groceries and kitchen supplies they sell in the dining area along the walls. I always forget I can go there instead of the 8 bodegas surrounding it.

Seriously the worst attitude on the block. The food is good however over priced burritos just irk me. And they charge me an extra dollar for extra salsa! Or sour cream . I tip well and bring people in all the time . You would think they would get it by now that I live across the street. And have been coming there since the first week they opened like 4years ago. The yellow taco truck down the street is much better and they don't price gouge you. and they remember you and are much much nicer. p.s. your assimilation is off if you put fries on your menu with a burrito.

Just had a carne enchilada burrito here, after seeing the guy in the Voice listed it as one of his top 5 burritos in the city. Don't get it. Bland, bland, bland. It was a real struggle to detect any pork taste at all. And it's annoying that they give you fries with it that you didn't ask for. I guess so that they feel justified charging $8.00. Not cheap. Burrito and a can of soda, $10.00. Where am I, in Manhattan? No, just paying like you are. Skip it!

Stopped by a couple times while I was visiting a friend in the neighborhood. First time I was there I just ordered a side of rice and beans, ended up being $5! Kind of ridiculous, but the beans were pretty good. Probably wouldn't have gone back if it weren't for my friend wanting to eat there again Second trip I got the Huitlacoche (corn smut) quesadilla and it was killer!! I've never had huitlacoche before, always wanted to try it. Glad I did!! Sort of a musky, earthy filling, like mushrooms marinated in a dark soy sauce or something. It was great!! And way more food for way cheaper than the side of rice and beans. $4 for an enormous quesadilla. Salsa was a lot spicier than I was expecting. I'd definitely order that quesadilla again, can't wait to try huitlacoche somewhere around where I live and see if it's any different.

I have to echo the first reviewer's sentiments: HERE is another example of very good Mexican in NYC, but super light Cali-Mex it ain't. If you find yourself near Broadway in Bushwick hankering for Mexican you'd be a fool not to give Cholula Bella a try. The prices are low and the food is very tasty. It's a family run joint that's half deli/grocery and half rerstaurant. The restaurant in no way suffers from being located in the back of a deli - service was friendly and the food came up quickly. The decor and music is pure Mexico, but without kitsch. The other diners seemed to be mostly ex-pats and families. Our party of three were the only gringos, but our waitress easily shifted into English for our benefit. While they don't have beer they were cool with our running across the street to get a six pack to go with our meal. Sopes ($5 for an order of three) were mild with perfect corn texture and flavor. Same goes for a homemade chorizo tostada ($2). Tacos ($2 each) came correctly wrapped in two tortillas (I always think one is a little chintzy). A spicy pork cemita ($5) was a large torta with cheese. I'm a big fan of tortas, and the sandwich here is about as good as I've had; it could have been a meal on its own. The Mexican beefstake plate ($8) was good and spicy, not to mention huge, but not quite as exciting as the rest of what we ordered. Complimentary chips and salsa came in a smallish portion with thin, weak salsa, but excellent homemade chips. Three formerly very hungry men wandered out on to Broadway after the meal, stuffed and satisfied after paying a check that came to just over $20. Cholula Bella is a winner.

This place is delicious. I've tried several mexican spots in the area and this place is the best by far. The ingrediants are all fresh, the meats are all seasoned well. I've had the tacos, tortas, and steak platter and they were all delicious. I recommened the steak, chicken, spicy pork, and longanisa meats. Be prepared to talk slowly and clearly though because the waitress doesn't understand english that well.

This is where I eat most of my food. I eat there at least three times a week. I love their food. I would say my favorite meal is the Chili Rejenos which is green peppers stuffed with cheese and fried. Also, the Texanos Nachos are incredibly good too, but I wouldn't eat it alone. It is a mountain of white cheese, guacamole, handmade nachos, beans, beef (or whatever meat you want), and verde sauce. Sometimes they make their heuvos y rajas tacos with beans, possibly by accident, and they are even better than the usual egg cooked with jalapenos and rice (which is still really goood). They have big portions and are very friendly. Their verde sauce is the best in the world and even though it is way too hot for me, I still try to eat it even when it hurts.

I live across the road from Cholulita and have been frequenting it for over a year. I love this place; the food is tasty and, most of all, cheap. I often get a chicken quesadilla or a steak taco or two (just $2). Burrito is huge and demands to be shared. The guacamole with tortilla chips is good, though the guac is sometimes too salty. The menu is lengthy, and everything comes with a mean, spicy green sauce on the side.

Tacos. Legit. Bodega atmosphere if you're dining in, but really excellent food. We tried the tacos cholulita with cecina ($10.50 for 3). Seems steep, but these tacos are LOADED with toppings. The beef was very salty (as expected) and the green sauce was definitely a sinus cleaner. Chicken tacos were also very flavorful. Definitely my favorite Mexican spot under the JMZ.

Don't go here if you are looking for tasty Mexican food. Their chicken burrito is bland, low quality and overpriced at $9 (instead of the advertised price of $8). It seems they don't believe in their food enough to give a price you would come back for.

The boss lady is unpleasant and not friendly. I asked how many tacos are in 1 order and they told me 3. And then they told me it's $2.50 each. So I decided to have 3 tacos. Odered 1 beef, 1 chicken, & 1 pork. Not orders just individual tacos. I ended up getting 9 tacos @ $23. Whatever I could always eat it later. But they weren't even good! Beef was chewy and dry. Everything was dry! Pork and chicken too. Yup found bones. Do yourself a favor and walk down to Carerras. It's a real restaurant and nicer. Friendlier staff and the tacos are awesome! And cheaper!

My search for a good taco in NYC leads me here. Finding an Al Pastor taco anywhere in the 5 boroughs is a bit of a snipe hunt - fortunately they have them at Cholulita. And they are pretty damn good. The fresh mango juice and fresh strawberry shake were excellent; not overly-sweet. Just right. I'm going back to try the tamales (Weekend only). ----- Alright-ey. Went back. Didn't have tamales (next time, for sure). But I did have a carnitas burrito. Back out West. I got accustomed to bigger-than-your-head burritos that I'd try to finish (because I'm American, and that's our "thing".) So this smaller non-morbid-obesity-inducing burrito from Cholulita was something I could handle. There was meat in it. There was rice. And a side of fries. Yes that's right: fries. Burrito, fries, a bottle of red sauce (of the Cholula/Tapatio variety), and a stone bowl of their own green salsa... just the way god intended it to be. So damn good. The waitress this time didn't speak a lick of english. Yes, it's that authentic. Like going to your mexican friend's house and his mom cooking you up something. Over one year of searching Manhattan and Brooklyn for good mexican food, and I finally find it in my own neighborhood (Bed Stuy).

Cholulitas has the best tacos in Brooklyn- corn tortillas, seasoned meats, and an amazing (secret) green salsas. Their tostadas are great too. I found out about this place a little over a month ago, and let me assure you that it is a game changer. Originally a bodega with a food counter, the restaurant now takes of the majority of the store. Other people have commented on the staff, so I feel like I should clarify that they understand English- it is just not their native language. Seriously, this place rules and it is way better than the Tortilla Factory.

They make some good food, especially the huaraches, but the real reason to go is to get the season meat available at the deli. Get a couple of pounds to cook at home yourself - and don't skimp, because you'll regret it.

Watched this place open a while ago and never bothered to order. My roommate's bf ordered things and I never seemed too impressed by what he got. In a scramble I got the carnitas dinner portion and it was bland. The meat looked like a pork shoulder steak that was boiled then thrown on a griddle. Bone portions were included as was a gelatinous gooy excuse for what should have been sumptious crispy skin. Not sure if I should try again.

Now...if I were to order anything else on the menu other than fresh avocado salad and their chicken burrito my four stars probably would have magically been upped to five....but the reason I am writing here is one thing....the ever hard to find in New York, lip smacking good, make you wanna SCREAM! to the God's of all things tastey, Burrito. This place is it. A double fist sized burrito (I have large hands) with freshly grilled chicken marinated in what seems to be a perfect blend of cilantro and spices, rice, beans, and a good deal of mozzarella cheese (you heard it right)....simple...ridiculously tastey.... served with a beautiful green salsa on the side that has firey kick and for 7 bucks well worth the price...I get it with the rice and beans instead of papas fritas (french fries) and usually with a freshly pureed juice of your choice...I usually get pineapple, honeydew, cantaloupe, that comes in a quart container for around 5 bucks......a great combination and an amazing hangover cure...if you live in the hood they deliver and are always fast and friendly. Coming from the west coast its great to have found a spot that has awesome Mexican food, in the setting of a bodega, nestled beneath the howling JMZ line......My name is Matt and I am addicted to Cholula Bella's chicken burrito. Thanks. Bye.

This place is excellent for the price. They would do so much more business if they were open later than ten.

We used to order here weekly, until finding nice long hair in our tacos.

Thanks. Bye.
