High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. This place is such a disgrace!!! Went for lunch with a Co-Worker. First off the woman working there couldn't even be bothered when we asked for a menu, not friendly at all. It wasn't busy, 2 people seated (BTW can't be that good for lunchtime and its that empty ::just saying::)... Then when we decided what we wanted to order, that was such an episode... I ordered the SOUVLAKI sandwich (not that difficult) SOUVLAKI is BEEF and even an option on the menu under Sandwiches BUT she was insisting that it was either Gyro or Chicken. Its neither Gyro or Chicken but she was telling me I was wrong so whatever I ordered the chicken because she "knew it all". I'm not even Greek so being that I married one, I called him to make sure, besides the fact that we've been eating BEEF SOUVLAKI for years but whatever. Anyways - with my husband on the phone confirming that I was correct, I said to her "Isn't SOUVLAKI Beef?" again she insisted I was wrong then I said "really? my husbands Greek and even said its Beef". She then said "so I'm Greek too" (She should know better then if she's Greek) and proceeded to look at her co-worker and laugh. After that I wasn't too happy.. & we'll just leave the rest to your imagination... - They could keep their food, I heard it sucked anyways - That broad will ruin their business with an attitude like that... pathetic - Go to Fontanas, or Gyro Corner... Everyone's cool and pleasant and those places are always packed

Went here and ordered a gyro platter..what I got was frozen gyro meat, sliced potatoes that were fried and a pathetic salad. Also, the place didn't seem too clean as the table tops were sticky and there was stuff spilled on the walls. For a Greek restaurant I'm not sure how you screw up a staple like gyro meat.

One star for the tzaziki, but then again how can you mess that up? Ordered the falafel with rice and veggies. It was actually INEDIBLE. Falafel was dry and the techina tasted like dirt. I had to wash down every bite with water. We also got the white fish with potatoes which was nothing special, didn't taste too fresh. The presentation didn't even look appetizing. Everything basically tasted either frozen or out of the box. Would never go back :(

Blah. The food was okay but certainly nothing great. I've been to Greece and admit I'm a Greek food snob. This place was super ordinary. The hummus with grilled pita was pretty good. But it came out so fast, I highly doubt it was made fresh. They also gave us beets with garlic, which were delicious. I had the falafel with lemon potatoes. Falafel was a bit overcooked. The lemon potatoes were almost sour. The server was polite and friendly. and gave us complimentary dessert, hence the two stars. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but I was underwhelmed.

Got takeout here. Was not impressed. The person who answered the phone was rude and sounded rushed (when I went there, there was only one table so I can't imagine he was overwhelmingly busy). Anyway, I ordered falafel, the hot octopus appetizer, and a side of lemon potatoes (I know I'm fat). The falafel was the worst part. They were bland and overly mushy. 99% sure these were frozen and then microwaved. Not cool. The sauce it came with was overly bland too. Came with rice and mixed vegetables. Rice was good, mixed vegetables were standard. The hot octopus was the best part. Cooked well and it tasted great. Opa in Bethpage's is better, but this definitely met my expectations. The lemon potatoes were pretty good, but not as great as everyone on Yelp seems to think. If you like lemons and you like potatoes, you'll enjoy this though. I'm going to seek out another Greek place in the area instead of coming back here.

Mykanos is alright, nothing extraordinary. It's good for a greek salad and gyro or grilled chicken. Outside of that, i'd recommend Ethos around the corner if you're looking for a more complete meal. For lunch, this is a pretty good choice.

This place was the bomb when its was SANTORINI. Prices were right food was good and u could bring your own wine. Now its just avg and NO BYOB... Its just plain ordinary and the price they charge doesn;t add up considering there are better Greek options that are walking distance...

We had a nice dinner of gyros and pastitsio, Greek salad, potatoes. No-nonsense service done quietly and efficiently. They don't try to "sell" you on specials and tell you who your waiter is. Food well-seasoned and cooked. Good dessert, coffee, Greek beers. It's not tip-top but a good local Greek place. Wasn't crowded on a weeknight. No reason not to come again. Some items were pricey so we stayed away but we don't own a Mercedes, either.

No-nonsense service. Very good Greek food. Ambiance was neat with the open wall, and people just chilling out speaking Greek to each other. Dig it. Had the zucchini and eggplant app so good. Ribeye to follow, very tender. Approachable flavors. Thanks!

This place is really a crap shoot. Meaning I've gotten great food from here and not so great food from here. The staff barely speak English and I believe I've ordered the same thing more than once. and received different food each time. Don't ever expect a refill on your drink it takes forever. Clearly it's a one shot deal. Nice atmosphere on a clear afternoon.

Working nearby, we ordered 3 greek salads with grilled chicken for pickup. Totaling $42 these were the worst salads we ever eat in the area. So bad, we called and spoke to the owner and she wouldnt even listen. Worst takeout of the year!

ordered a gyro platter today and got the strangest dish... it was all the pieces to a gyo, but set more like a salad, with triangle slices of pita on top? How is that a gyro? And to top it off.. it wasn't all that good. I at there a few months back and had a similar experience with it just being "odd". Not my favorite.

A nice Greek restaurant for this area. I went with a co-worker for lunch, and she is vegetarian. So before we sat down, I asked to look at the menu for their vegetarian offering first. The host/waiter was very gracious about it and after we sat down he mentioned a couple of falafel dishes that were not on the lunch menus that he handed us. My co-worker decided to order the falafel wrap and I ordered the falafel platter, which comes with a bit of panini, white rice, and salad. The falafel was OK, but I've had so much better in the city. Everything else on the platter was pretty standard. This restaurant is not a culinary treasure, but it's a nice place for a work lunch.

Ordered the salmon with lemon potatoes and mixed veggies. Seriously one of the best salmon filets I've ever heard. The lemon potatoes were so delicious. I'd definitely come back just for that dish.

This place is a winner, especially on a summer eve when outdoor dining is an option. The food is excellent and the prices are fair. The waiters are pleasant and accommodating. It used to be called Santorini. Since the name change, with an updated decor, the quality of the food has gone way up. There may be better Greek restaurants out there but this is the best in Great Neck.

ill start off by saying we didnt actually eat in the restaurant...we ordered delivery from there. im going to make this short. ill never..EVER get anything from there again. we ordered a gyro sandwich and a chicken kabob platter. we wanted the chicken souvlaki, but was told it was only available at lunch and that we had to order the kabob and that it was really the same thing. food quality...if there was a plainer more boring word for average...id use it. this food wasnt bad...but it wasnt good either. it was bland and tasteless...again...it wasnt bad, but for the what we paid...i expected a whole lot better (see below) the price was absolutely ridiculous. $29 and change for just about the smallest gyro and platter ive ever seen. the gyro was 7 bucks...and was about the size of a taco bell bean burrito. are you kidding me? i can go to gyro corner on francis lewis blvd. and get a delicious mouth watering gyro thats 4 times the size and half the price. gyro = epic fail the kabob platter wasnt any better. it came in one of those small tins you get stuff like mozz. sticks from a pizza place in (as opposed to a big tin a spaghetti diner would come in)...and it was $16. then we were charged 2 bucks a piece for warm cans of soda. i seriously dont understand how this place stays in business. if bland average food at exorbitant prices is your thing, then by all means...eat at mykonos

The only thing I every ordered here was the greek salad with lamb gyro served atop. It hit the spot. For a work lunch, it was my favorite for a few weeks. Garden is not very pretty, grab a table by the window.

I ate here with my parents during a recent visit. I eat Greek food on a regular basis and have visited Greece. While this does not make me an expert, I have eaten more than my share of Greek food over the years. I thought the food here was pretty good, not great, but good enough to want to return. I started off with a very nice Greek salad and had Lamb Youvetsi for my main course. While I have had better Youvetsi, this was certainly a good effort. Along with dinner we drank a very nice, and reasonably priced, retsina; it was crisp and refreshing, and reminded me of the fresh retsina we had in Greece. The service was good and attentive, though the gap between the appetizers and the main course did seem to be a bit long.

Great place for a mid-day lunch or an afternoon dinner! Food is very crisp and delicious! They offer a variety of great Greek dishes that will have you licking your fingers. They also offer a Children's Section in the Menu which was great for my children to enjoy their type of taste to. The service is great and could not ask for anything more!

  • Lisa R.

Excellent grilled whole fish and amazing roast chicken. Dont forget to order the grilled vegetable side. Salad is always fresh. My favorite for lunch is the maroussalata with grilled salmon. While the staff is friendly and attentive, the owner needs to be a little more social with the patrons. Also, should allow you to bring your own wine. House wines are a little weak.

Mykonos keeps getting better each time we go there. The Greek salad is always very crisp and fresh. My husband adores the lamb sausage and I enjoy fresh fish and vegetarian entrees. The service is attentive, and at the end of the meal, the waiter brought over a complimentary dessert--some kind of custard wrapped in phyllo dough with a very light syrup poured over the top. We were happy to see the restaurant busier than it has been in the past. We're definitely adding Mykonos to our list of good places to go.

  • Mr. C.

Went here for dinner with my family. For the most part, it was very good. Service was a tad slow. Its not really the waiters fault though. They are actually very attentive. There was a guy who looked like maybe he was the son of the owner who spent a lot of time checking his phone and either texting or surfing the web. So basically you had two busy waiters running around doing whatever they could and then this kid who does nothing to help but just sit there at the host stand being pretty much useless. If he moved around a little but to fill some water glasses or clear some dishes, service may been a bit smoother. Its a minor thing but its the difference in making a good restaurant great. The bread was warm and spreads were all delicious. Salads were crisp and fresh. I had the whole branzino. Cooked perfectly I just thought it could use a touch of salt. Some of the dishes could have used more salt. But with everyone watching their salt intake these days its fine to just add your own. But I liked it a lot and am looking forward to going back.

Very good whole grilled fish, lemon potatoes and Greek salad. Service is matter of fact but acceptable. I think it's better than the other Mediterranean restaurants in Great Neck, Ethos and Turquoise. We've eaten here several times.
