This place is a great addition to the area. The food is quick, reasonably priced and DELICIOUS. Even the wine selection is great. A fun and relaxed atmosphere with good service. The chef and owner are friendly people... I have a feeling this place is going to do well and I can't wait to see how it evolves. I haven't tasted a taco that I didn't like, but my favorites are the coffee rubbed barbacoa, smokey beet, al pastor or po boy taco. There are many options for carnivores and vegetarians, as well those who are trying to avoid gluten. I always leave feeling satisfied. This is definitely a spot that you will make a regular.

Super delicious standout spot in Kingston. Was driving home to Hoboken from Woodstock and stopped here for lunch. I had the tacos al pastor and beet tacos. I don't even like beets but they were recommended by the house so I gave them a try. Outstanding!! Truly! If I had an ounce of room left I would have had another. The street corn was also amazing. Fresh well seasoned and interesting. Isaac the owner was a great host and me and my dining companion enjoyed chatting with him too. Please bring your tasty eats to Hoboken! Well done!! Something very special in upstate NY!!! #keepupthegoodwork!

Have been here a couple of times. Great atmosphere with exposed brick walls and a nice looking bar. The food is priced right for a white person taco joint. I am a fairly big eater and I was pretty full after sharing chips and guac and eating 2 tacos. Each taco was around $4, which is a fair price. The chips were delicious and made fresh in the restaurant. I have eaten a few different tacos and found the barbacoa to be my favorite. You can definitely taste the coffee rub and the meat itself is really tender. I did find the tacos a bit on the drier side, specifically the pollo, and would have loved a pico de gallo or hot sauce to accompany them. Still delicious nonetheless. Overall, I will definitely go back again and I have faith that this place will continue to improve as the time goes on (it's not even a month old). A great addition to the stockade district!

Really, really love this place. It took some time for us to try it because Kingston has some excellent authentic Mexican food, and Diego's is a bit more of a hip and modernized take on Mexican. Nonetheless, we stopped by last weekend and ate at the bar - super friendly owner, excellent beers, and all around great vibe. AND THE FOOD! The smoked beet taco is a revelation. We tried that, both of the fried cauliflower specials, al pastor, and BBQ chicken. All were delicious, but they really know what they're doing with their veggie tacos. This is a new favorite in Kingston.

My wife and I have eaten at Diego's on three separate occasions in the last two months. Being new to the area, we were delighted to discover a place like Diego's in the Fair St. area of Kingston. Charming area, and a charming restaurant. The food has been both excellent and innovative all three times. Service is terrific, and the owner is usually there and willing to chat about the restaurant and the food. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes their food prepared fresh and with flair. Very tasty!

My sweet partner and I stopped into town and found a true Hudson Valley gem in Diego's Taqueria for a Valentine's meal. We arrived at the establishment between lunch and dinner when the restaurant should have been closed for dinner prep. The owner was kind enough to let us dine there anyway. Maybe he felt sorry because of the snow falling down or sentimental because it was Valentine's day. I think he is just a kind guy and loves to share his wife's cooking. We started with a couple pieces of their street corn that was coated with some very tasty cotija cheese. It was delicious and a sign of the great food to come. I am a vegetarian and was delighted by the choices available for me. I ended up ordering three tacos; the smoky beet, three sisters and the cauliflower special. The smoky beet was the highlight of the three combining seasoned grilled beets with caramelized onions and topped with arugula. All of the tacos are served in a two tasty soft gluten free corn shells. Next on my favorite list is the Cauliflower done Pescado style. The cauliflower is lightly battered and coated with a little sriracha sauce with sliced cabbage, onion, cilantro and topped with a chipotle cream sauce. Last and also scrumptious with the 3 sisters, which combines very classic Mexican favorites of grilled squash, sweet corn, and black beans. The chef came out to our table to say hello toward the end of our meal. She was quite charming and puts a lot of passion into her creations. My girlfriend and I both had a lovely experience and plan on revisiting the restaurant on our next trip up to the Hudson Valley.

Great new place in uptown Kingston. The roasted beet tacos are fabulous. Good options for vegetarians and carnivores alike. Happy to have them in town!

Between us we had the jerk chicken and pescado tacos, guac and salsa with chips, and a chocolaty Keegan's Mother's Milk to wash it down. All delish, served in a friendly manner, while the Dead played in the background. What's not to come back for?

Fresh. Delicious. Happy that we wound up stopping here for lunch. Isaac was super friendly and accommodating. The barbacoa taco was fantastic and I will be dreaming of the corn on the cob for the next week! Great beer selection as well. We will definitely be back next time we're in Kingston!

Being recent transplants from California, we crave good "Mexican" food. Diego's Taqueria delivers. I had 3 tacos, guac and corn chowder. All were excellent. The corn chowder was the best soup I've had in a long time. The guac was really good. The tacos were to die for. I had one special (jerk chicken), one el pastor and one veggi--all 3 were outstanding.

Kingston, New York... I really want to like you. Your downtown is quaint. Your people, gregarious and nice. And when I was told that the town was experiencing a kind of cultural reniassance in the arenas of food and drink, I expected the owners of these newer establishments to possess some cognizance that they would be patronized by folks who expect their orders to be fulfilled with at least a modicum of speed. Sometimes, this isn't possible. Like on a Friday night. Last Friday night, actually. At Diego's. Listen, I understand the situation. As the son of a restaurant owner, I'm more sympathetic than the average customer to the plight of a restaurant staff during a weekend dinner rush. Things take time, sure. But my dad also taught me the virtue of good communication in the face of truly arduous wait times. And anyone managing front-of-house when the kitchen staff is overloaded with orders should know that most folks waiting on their food will be understanding if you clearly convey that things will be taken care of in approximately X amount of time, and we're truly sorry for the wait. These things did not happen at Diego's. We were told that our order was being worked on "right now", and that it will be up soon. When twenty minutes passed and no dishes had been served -- neither to our table's, nor to any other's -- we grew curious. And that curiosity turned to frustration when the manager again checked in with our party and shrugged us a "Yeah, we just got busy all at once". We eventually did get our food, of course. And I must say that the tacos were excellent -- even compared to the abundance of excellent Mexican food one can find in my town of San Francisco. But Diego's and I had entered a kind of epicurean contract at the moment my companions and I sat down within. And that contract states, however clearly or unclearly you wish to believe, that we, as paying customers, will be told what is happening, and when it is happening, and in the case of adversity, what is NOT happening, and when it will be corrected. And that contract, in no uncertain terms, was broken on Friday. And that's more important, to me, than the quality of the food. Think what you will about my lofty expectations. I will endeavor to lower them when next I find myself in such an establishment. Diego's? More like Don't Go's.

Diego's Taqueria is a great addition to our rapidly reviving Uptown Kingston. The decor and layout are well thought-out in a low-key, informal way. The food is excellent. Not gourmet excellent, street-taco excellent. It's also very affordable. You can eat well here very affordably. Great value! The only reason I'm giving Diego's four stars instead of five is because most of the food appears to be on the spicy side. It would be great to have more options that aren't spicy.

Inexpensive, delicious food and friendly atmosphere. Keegan ale on tap! Good piped in music. Outside tables. (And they do have takeout, but why leave?)

Freakin beet taco , fried green tomato po' boy taco, and beer battered cauliflower taco??? So delicious! These are some unique tacos and well worth the $4. The beet taco had a nice smoked flavor to it. Really well made, not sloppy or greasy looking. This place is very hipster-ish. At night there are bands that play music.

We had a very nice dinner at Diego's. Many vegetarian options, food was creative and really good. I would describe it as Mexican fusion. The wine & drinks were good. Staff was very friendly! Service was fine for a busy Friday night. They had live music too which was good. Will definitely go back when I am in the area!

3 words describes this place: fresh, flavorful and unique. Great beer selection and the menu offers authentic cuisine worthy of a visit. Very resonable prices. The Owner is always on site and the quality and consistency shows. A great addition to the Stockade. Highly recommended.

Fantastic service and food! Beet tacos rock! Guacamole with cucumber slices- super fresh. Left "full but not gross" on the words of my eating companion.

My wife and I loved this place. We were in Kingston visiting family and looking for something new and fresh, we found it! The staff was friendly and the food was great. While we enjoyed all of our food, we were specifically impressed with the street corn and roasted beet taco.

Was completely unprepared for the flavor that came out of these unassuming little tacos... Battered Cod taco was amazing, fresh lime put it over the top. Roasted smoked beet taco very tasty. Two were perfect amount for lunch, enjoyed every last bite without feeling overfull. Fresh, simple yet very memorable. Again, wish I lived closer -- would love to try every taco on the menu

My sister and I loved this place. Very unique and fresh food. The street corn was delicious. I also had the pollo chipotle tortas. A toasted sandwich with marinated chicken, smoky chipotle sauce, black beans, queso fresco, lettuce and avocado. A delicious combinations that also came with tortilla chips and salsa that was equally delicious. The prices were great in fact I would have paid double for this delicious meal. I will definitely be returning to this lovely place time and time again.

Excellent Mexican food! Haven't had great Mexican in upstate NY except for this place. The salsa was tasty and fresh, guacamole was thick and delicious. The tacos were gourmet with fresh ingredients and awesome flavor. Will definitely return to this place when hiking in Catskills or on way back from city.

I loved it. I had a Jerk Chicken taco special and a traditional Al Pastor and both were excellent. They had a nice beer selection. The owner Isaac was super charming and fun and the gave off great energy the whole time. Apparently his wife does all the cooking and I am so very impressed. Absolutely do not miss the corn on the cob. It's done traditionally covered with cheese and and spices. So so good.

Fresh local ingredients, great palate, amazing salsa, decent prices, live grateful dead playing. This place nails it. Quite possibly the best tacos we've ever had.

Food is very yummy but both times I've been there I have had issues with the service. I called today to place an order for my office (4 people) and told them i needed to pay separately so it was 4 orders (I was trying to be helpful! I thought it was easier for them to know in advance). When I got there the Owner? Manager? was so nasty and made such a big deal about it .. he told me in the future to never do that again (don't worry buddy in the future we wont be eating here again..). He said it was "too complicated for him to ring up." the food was good but I left with a bad taste in my mouth.

Great vibe. Chips are fresh and salsa is killer. But those Jamaican Jerk Chicken tacos....next level!! A must visit in the Hudson valley.

Had a very mediocre experience here. Waiter was not friendly, no smile etc. ordered salad with fish. Fish was unseasoned and salad had no dressing on it- just lettuce etc. When I asked him if they had salad dressing he said they "will have to look for some". Well he brought me a tiny cup of what I think was dressing out of a jar. Asked for hot sauce for the fish to give it some kind of seasoning - that never came. Disappointing experience as I always loved this place before.

The food was very tasty, but the winner was definitely the Sriracha cauliflower special. We also tried the three sisters, po'boy, jerk Chicken special and the BBQ. No complaints. The service was friendly, but extremely slow. I understand that it's table service, but my understanding, and intent, when going to a taco place is that it's quick, not a lengthy dining experience.

By far the best Mexican food in the area. I have never had such delicious tacos and street corn in my life. I come here whenever I can and always try to bring as many new faces as possible to spread the word. The only problem I've come across is that the last 2 times the server has forgotten to bring certain foods out but it always gets taken care of in the end and they're very gracious about it. Being a newish restaurant it's understandable that they haven't worked out all the kinks yet but what matters is that Diego's is delicious and has given me my new favorite spot.

Best effing tacos around. The lettuce wrap is an amazing alternative for low carb options. Amazing beer selection. I really hope they get their liquor license- I would live here.

This is my third time at Diego's. Each time I have gone the food has been consistent. Everything made is fresh. The Barbacoa is a must try. The chips and salsa are also great. This time they let us know that chips are free with drink order a special for tonight. It is well worth a try. You won't be disappointed. I recommend ordering at least two tacos. There's lots to try. Staff are very friendly and attentive.

I like Diego's - my partner LOVES Diego's. He was dragged there to meet friends, convinced he'd hate it. He does not love Mexican food. He got the cauliflower tacos with siracho (pardon the spelling) and was hooked. Now every week he asks if I feel like going back. The tacos are deceivingly filling - be warned. They look small but two is almost too much.

I understand that many places should be given careful consideration during the first night that they are open, unfortunately this place deserves none. We came and sat down for what we were told was their opening night after a long day with two friends. It took 15 minutes just to sit with several tables unoccupied, but that isn't a major concern here. We got a seat after confusion of who should be taking us to a table and got drinks promptly. After another 15 minutes we finally had the opportunity to place an order. We ordered tacos, a salad bowl, some guacamole and chips. First, chips are extra. Nothing against an owner who wants to charge for items, but a precedent exists that chips are normally given, especially if a long wait is in order. The first problem I really had though was the guacamole. It was labeled as a large, but came in a portion only about 2 ounces. I do not understand how that is large and perfect for sharing. Oh and one more key fact, the woman who ordered the salad bowl cannot have sour cream, and requested none be put on the food. So we waited.... and waited.... and waited.. and then waited some more. An hour later our street corn came to the table. Which I have to say was really good. It had nice spice to it and definitely deviated from tradition but in a good way. This was a great dish. Then we waited another thirty minutes After that thirty minutes tacos and salad bowl arrived. Of course the salad bowl had sour cream, so we sent it back. We eat out tacos despite wanting to wait for our other guest. At the two hour mark the salad bowl comes back out with no sour cream, and no chicken. The waiter asked if we really wanted to wait for chicken, so we did. 15 minutes later he comes out with a small little ramekin filled with chopped up pieces of chicken, not even a 3 oz portion. She sends it back, by now we are all done and she doesn't want to eat it. The kid waiting tables takes about 10 minutes to get us the manager. The manager/owner basically doesn't comp anything, leaving a service disaster a service disaster and skipping the recovery step entirely, well done. We get the salad off of the bill, and pay for everything else. Oh and the bill was not itemized. So we had to play a guessing game as to if it was accurate or not. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Nor would I recommend that they refer to whoever was in the back of house as chef. Honestly, its tacos. I can, and I have, stood behind a line and banged out tacos for a service. This place is no bueno.

This place is really fantastic. Great vibe, fantastic tacos. Normally, I am minimalist about tacos -- only corn tortilla, your choice of meat, cilantro, salt, and lime -- but this place does some innovative take on tacos. Great selection of local beers, and very friendly owner, too. We will be back!

Enjoyed a nice lunch with my husband at Diego's. We both had the rice bowls. Wonderful favors - the grilled veggies were a great addition. Not too spicy. Great ambiance and very personable staff/owners. Cozy & clean. Love that the food is slow cooked.

I had time before an appointment for a bite to eat so decided to try Diego's. I ordered the pollo chipotle, and chips/guacamole. My chicken was delicious, and the guac was just amazing! Service was excellent, and loved the ambiance. Will be back for sure!

food was good except tiny portions and very high prices depending on what you get. ordered a taco and side of guac with chips. the side of guac cost more than the whole taco and only got about 2 oz. :(
