Best tomato soup I've ever had. Lots of cakes and ice cream. Wonderful sandwich. I would recommend the Reuben or the turkey.

Port Jervis Best Kept Secret My friends and I recently met for Dinner at Gio's on a Saturday night for an early dinner. I called and no reservations were required. The restaurant advertises a Friday and Saturday Pasta dinner that we decided to try. Wow what a treat. We were started with a fresh made salad and homemade Tuscan style bread. We then followed up with the most delicious and generous portion of Portobello Mushroom Ravioli as a main course and a 5 cheeseTortelloni with a homemade Vodka sauce as an entree also. On Friday and Saturday night they also welcome the BYOB (Bring your own Bottle). After a delicious dinner they top it off with a small Gelato of your choice flavor. They offered samples of flavors to help you decide. The host was very friendly and came over several times to check on us. The dining room was cozy and super clean as well as a spotless restroom. I have been here for lunch and had a panini which was delicious and plentiful. This is a must visit for lunch during a visit to Port Jervis or an early dinner on Friday or Saturday.

What a great place. Food was great, fresh, tasty, and looks as good as it taste. Panini's, wraps and salads. Desserts of gelato, Italian pastries, and cheese cakes. Owners from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Staff was very friendly and paid attention to my daughter. Quaintly decorated with in side and outside seating. Defiantly a place to eat at if in the area.

It seemed to take them an unreasonably long amount of time to make two paninis, which kinda sucked because we were trying to make a train. (We missed it, whoops...more time to explore the area). All the gelato looked awesome, that was actually the original plan when we picked the place, but we hadn't realized they had actual food too, so gelato ended up being an afterthought. The bread was really good, and that was a preeeettttyyyyy damn delicious roast beast (err, beef) sammich. Horseradish = me likey. We ended up taking our stuff to go and adventuring under the bridge to eat, they packaged it nicely, so it traveled well. It's probably better off that we missed the train, because everyone on it would have been jealous of the awesomeness.

Gio's is an unpretentious down-home little place which does a little bit of everything - some diner fare, some baked goods, but generally their deal is gelato and sandwiches. They make their own bread, which really elevates what would otherwise be fairly middle-of-the-road stuff to being something very appealing indeed - especially if it's one of their toasted panini sandwiches. This review is something of a placeholder; I haven't tried their gelato yet and I haven't been when it's been particularly busy - I will say that Gio's would sorely benefit from an expansion of some kind. Even an extra ten feet would be a help - it's a rather cluttered little space and it fills up very easily. Eight people feels like a real mob in here; you're having to crane your neck over the shoulders of diners to see what the gelato is. Anyway, I will be returning, and based on one visit I can recommend Gio's for their wonderful bread alone. They should sell it by the loaf.

Awesome. Just moved here a few months back and didn't find this place until about a week ago - we've been back three times since. Truly excellent bread, spectacular lattes, and the gelato is obviously a masterpiece. We will be going here at least twice a week for the foreseeable future. New favorite place!

This is a very nice 4s place (soup, sandwich, salad, sweet) in Port Jervis. The menu is limited to the typical 4s but is a pleasant place with friendly service. lots of locals in here for lunch. Soups looked good and I had a great grilled cheese, bacon and tomato panini. If you're whizzing by on 84 around lunch, this would make a worth while stop for real food as opposed to the stuff typically available at the interchanges. I would suggest to approach it through Matamoras as oppose to Port Jervis from either the east or west as it is a little less complicated to get there.

Came here for a couple weeks ago for lunch and really enjoyed the meal. My dining companion got the tomato bisque. I am not a big tomato person but I tried it anyway. I was super close to getting a bowl of my own. For my meal I got a special - spinach & strawberry salad. It was fantastic. There was not too much of one ingredient and the dressing (which was nicely served on the side) was perfect. We had some gelato for dessert. After sampling some flavors I got pineapple. Not a gelato flavor that I have ever had or would normally go for, but it definitely was delicious. This place is quite far from home, but anytime I am out in Port Jervis, I will definitely put this on my list of places to return to.

Excellent gelato. Reasonable prices. Very friendly and patient staff who indulged my children's multiple sample requests with a smile. Only downside is that the eating area is quite small so if you're going for lunch you may have to go off peak. We couldn't get in for lunch so we went back for dessert only. Definitely will return.

The homemade gelato is seriously delicious. A ton of different flavors, and they're generous with samples. I wish I could vouch for the food but Gio's always gets bumped to the bottom of my list in favor of homemade cooking and other childhood favorites. But it did supersede nearby Polar Bear last summer. Which, if you know me well, says a lot.

I just had a family reunion at my house catered by Gio's Gelato. The prices were better than other caterers in the area. We had gone to the restaurant numerous times before the party and were always pleased with the food and service. The food at the party was delicious. We received many compliments on the food and pastries. I would definitely recommend using them for a meal, dessert or catering.

This place is right across the street from the house I grew up in!!! Dangerous!! Incredible little place with high quality dishes. It's a rare find for Port Jervis. You're getting the homemade quality (even the gelato and Italian cookies) without paying an arm and a leg like I'm used to down in Long Island. Visiting my family and going to Gio's goes hand in hand I highly recommend Gio's.

I work in town, so I have been here a few times with my coworkers for lunch. It's a great little place to go in Port. The service is quick and efficient, the food is really good and even though I have only indulged once, the gelato is great too. Looking forward to a return trip!

Incredible all homemade paninis, wraps, artisan breads, soups, and desserts. The most incredible 24 flavors of gelato and sorbets you have ever tasted. New flavors of gelato all the time to tantalize the taste buds. facebook.com/pages/Gios-…
