Wish I could give this place 0 stars... Terrible food, miserable owners and forget about presentation. I know this place was built a long time ago but it does not mean you have to make it look like it hasn't been updated since opening. It's like they do just enough to get by. Just all around bad experience and their radio commercial makes this place sound worse with its stupidity... Worst catering place, unfortunately one of the only ones around that is why they get away with this crappy place.

First time here, for a wedding over the weekend. A little far of a drive from white plains Not to off the exits whether your coming from 9, taconic parkway or backroads. Finally pulled up to a beautiful mansion palace with valet parking being offered. What cought my eye was a huge ballroom glass window with blue neon lights being projected and the dj was killing it "ooh kill em" I was so exited to go inside and get the party started. Sadly we were in the smaller room.to the right. The host was rude we walked in to him holding the door open. we said hello good Eveing and not a gesture at all .. Felt like the London doormen . Pros: The parking The bartender The lighting Cons : No table to drop off gifts kind of odd Food was terrible Staff cleaned the sternos quick, not even left out for 1/2 an hour so if you want seconds might as well get 2 plates at a time The wedding cake was horrible Not only the presentation of the cake but the taste. I've had better at stop n shop The waitstaff was not helpful in fact it's run by elderly waitstaff, which just wanted to get out of there ASAP. Prob before they forget where they live.. Even before the couple cut the cake, the waitstaff was already in the lounge cuttin the cake for everyone and they weren't even cutting it in sections more like at a soup kitchen just get out! The decor was horrible Old greenish rug in the lounge No topshelf alcohol at least splurge for Patr0n tequila!!! The worst was the 1 bathroom stall for the ladies room making the wait 15 mins for a room full of 200 people Once we were leaving , we were informed about a bathroom downstairs A couple signs would help.

We met with Leon for months before the wedding to plan every detail. Leon promised us everything we wanted, it seemed too good to be true and we said that to him so many times. Well it was too good to be true, because the day of, not only did we not get what we had agreed upon, we got a mess! I will try to keep this short because remembering the day only upsets me but some of the major problems: there was suppose to be a reception station when guests arrived with drinks and light food- this did not exist. There were suppose to be many food options at the cocktail hour- this did not exist. The bar during cocktail hour did not have enough glasses for beverages! They told me guests they could only have drinks if they brought back their old glasses (by the way we had exactly the number of guests we predicted in the estimate). We were suppose to have live action stations (attendants making small dishes to order, for example a crepe station, a make your own pizza station etc.)- these did not exist and we were horrified to only have chafing dishes of cold food (we specifically said no chafing dishes!). Best of all, they ran out of plates before guests even got their first serving of food! I was unable to eat because I had no plate. Many people had to wait 30 minutes or more for them to go find additional plates (again we had the predicted number of guests and this happened before people got seconds). They ran out of food and did not refill things when they were empty. The food was burnt. Many (about 1/2) of the food items we agreed upon were not there. The waiters did not refill water glasses at the tables. Dessert was its own disaster. Again most of the agreed upon food was missing (and there were no live stations, which had also been agreed upon). The coffee urns were empty (by the way, this was suppose to be "an international coffee table" with all fancy beverages, cappuccino etc. - it was 2 urns and both were empty). There was a chocolate fountain but it had no chocolate in it (completely empty). They didn't have enough cake for the guests- I didn't even get a piece of my own wedding cake (which by the way did not look at all like the cake I requested). Also they lost the anniversary cake so we have nothing for our anniversary. They admitted to many of these problems after the wedding, claiming that staff members just didn't show up for work that day but not enough plates? Not enough food? It was absurd. They gave us a small refund but I never would have hired them in the first place if I knew this is what I would get. Worst decision ever.....please do yourself a favor and stay away.

Horrible experience. The waiters look like zombies from a horror film. Their hair all messy, makeup running, some even have gauges in! 90% of them can't speak English and as for the other 10% can't even explain what is in the main coarse. The meal portions were extremely small, and took forever to come out. The place looks like a beauty from afar but up close it is collapsing inward, there has been no renovations. The ceiling is a disgusting carpet Lil with dirt in if. I do no recommend this place. I hope to not come back here again!!!!

I had my wedding here. I've read some of the other reviews and I can see how experiences may vary, however this place has been open for a very long time- they are doing something right! I worked with Leon and from the jump he said he wanted us to have a wedding to remember and would make that happen no matter our budget. Leon really helped us make the wedding I dreamed of a reality and most importantly one that fit our budget and didn't put us in debt. At times during the planning process he was a 2 or 3 star experience. He did double book us a few times and was sometimes hard to get a hold of and not totally clear. You can nail him down though. I promise. However, I still give this place 4 stars because the place did look beautiful on our wedding day, we got great pictures even though it rained, the 10 piece band that Leon helped us hire was amazing and affordable and our guests are still talking about the band (Some DJ's charge as much as they charged) and everyone loved our wedding and is still talking about what a good time it was. Colonial Terrace is more of an anything goes, loose kind of place. It's a place to have a PARTY!!! I didn't want a stiff place with a ton of rules. I really wanted to have our wedding at Mohonk after going hiking there and visiting the inn. I went to Mohonk and they told me I couldn't have a night wedding (they don't do night weddings) or loud music (if any guests at their hotel complained we would have to lower it) liquor wasn't included and it would run me more than $30,000 to have half the amount of people we wanted to have. This was the case at MANY places in Westchester that I visited. Yes, maybe they looked better on the outside, but weren't what we wanted on the inside. What matters most to you? Colonial Terrace has packages that are pretty negotiable because it's family owned (unlike most places in Westchester where they can't really work with the price that much) Colonial Terrace doesn't charge separate for everything. Their packages are very all inclusive. Unlimited open bar with top shelf liquor for your whole wedding reception, 4-5 course meal, killer cocktail hour, dessert...etc. I added things on and negotiated along the way keeping the price per head I could afford in mind. At my wedding we had an amazing cocktail hour with hot food stations of chinese food, italian food, roasted pig and more and more appetizers, we got the photo-booth which everyone loved, we had a venetian hour with a chocolate fountain, cotton candy, tons of desserts, candies, root beer floats and more and a beautiful cake. I had floating candles on the tables with floating lotus flowers. It was a blast and it was beautiful!! People had so much fun. My father and I did Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns n' Roses as our father daughter dance and that got everyone loose and ready to dance! We even did a scavenger photo hunt with disposable cameras on the tables. (For example, 1. Take a picture of someone who's had one too many. 2. Someone hysterically laughing...etc) The food was delicious. I took half a star for a few things that were forgotten that needed my reminding on our wedding day. The other half star deduction is for the mahi-mahi. Don't put that on your menu. It wasn't up to par and I sent mine back and got the eggplant rollatini instead which was yummy. The butternut squash soup was delicious, the steak was delicious, the stuffed chicken was delicious. 95% of the food was good and there was TONS of food! If you don't have $50-60,000 for a wedding (but are working with half of that or less), but really want a real wedding, with a lot of guests, I'd definitely recommend checking out Colonial Terrace. I was engaged for 5 years. I looked at a lot of places. I looked everywhere pretty much. We just didn't have the money to have the wedding we wanted to have. I even went to Colonial Terrace 2 years prior to booking them and I met with the older woman that works there and she was more professional, but her prices were not as negotiable as Leon was. Leon is the guy you want to work with if you yourself are laid back, like to party and are on a budget and can deal with a little unprofessionalism here and there. What mattered to me was having the wedding I wanted to have, at a price I could afford. I got that at Colonial Terrace so I can't give less than 4 stars. Bottom line I had an amazing wedding and guests are still posting pictures, videos and saying how much fun it was.

Once again I was terribly Underwhelmed by the food and presentations that Colonial Terrace has when catering an event. Went again this year to a school auction and the only decent thing is the booze-- and that's because CT isn't making it. (This is no relation to the auction event itself, bc as per that, it is organized fairly well and you can tell the amount of effort that goes into the planning. Its merely the food and service related to it that bring down the whole cause.) The passed apps are a joke. They are straight out of a box, frozen quality. I've had chain restaurants that have executed better. The kids they utilize as servers have no clue what they are doing and probably aren't given any quick lessons or pointers either. They carry around about a dozen pieces on their trays and either get swamped by the same people snarfing up everyting or they completely pass groups. I had no more than 5 and the list boasted nearly a dozen different passed Hors d'oeuvre. Guess what--- they lied AGAIN. Out of the list that was printed there was about half if that, being passed around. The shrimp looked it was being re-used in the small shot glass types filled with cocktail sauce. The chicken skewers were not cooked completely and the spanikopita was barely warm. The two stations for hot food when finally opened had lines going to the door. They have no sense of dealing with crowd control and food handling. Kids were slopping food into trays and spilling and splashing sauce everywhere. My aunt told the guy in charge by the kitchen that the chicken was not cooked in the piccatta dish and what does he do... Shrugs at her..... ARE YOU FRIGGIN SERIOUS?? My sister and I waited until the lines shortened up and the only thing that was semi decent was the seafood crepe super surprisingly. The rest tasted bland, or was either under or over cooked to the point of shoe leather i.e. the teriyaki beef. Dessert was equally as terrible with luke warm coffee and a s'more station that was a promotion for bacteria breeding since everyone was free to stick fingers, foods, and pre-licked and used utensils right into chocolate and onto the plates. The pastries were okay but once again, pre-bought from else-where and half the night there were no untensils to be found. I literally just stuck to the wine station and figured I would live off of that. Went home hungry and with a beginning waves of rollin in the colon. Colonial Terrace is bound to have a food poisoning-salmonella outbreak at their events one of these days considering the inexperience and lack of knowledge regarding when food is actually cooked or not. I think next time I'll come brown bagging it, if I go at all.

This place is very charming, but boy is it in disrepair. They only renovation I can see done in the last 30 years is probably the deck. Aside from that, this place needs help desperately. But as much as I want to rag on this place and it's upkeep, it just needs a change of direction, a new wind under its sail, and it could be one of the most quaint, historical wedding venues in the Tri-State area. Sad to say it, but even in its present condition, its still has much nicer grounds, and charm to it than most venues in New York City. get a reality TV show like Hotel Impossible in here quick!

This place should be a non-functional landmark. It is over 70 years old and might be using the same furniture and linens from opening day. It is front-end staffed by the owners and family, and back-end staffed by local high-school kids who are verbally abused both infront of guests and behind the scenes. (I was hired to DJ a wedding) The place is in disrepair and could use a good scrubbing. I dropped a pair of headphones on the floor in the main room and considered throwing them away when I examined them and found a greasy film on the area that touched the floor. The grounds are somewhat manicured at first glance, but are far from professional at closer inspection. Below is a summary of my experience this past Sunday as I reported it to others in my company. ...Greeted the Maitre'D (Allan) who was less than accommodating right off. I asked about the location of the Ceremony and was told... "Its outside, where did you think it would be?" I asked how/where to load in and he said "...Stairs." before I could even finish the sentence. I asked where I should set up Allan just pointed in towards the main room without even looking up. I was told by one of the workers that there is a ramp in the back that would take me to the main floor without having to carry the gear up 1 1/2 flights of steps. I was able to roll in all at once. I got through about 1/2 of my setup when Allan entered the room and said, "You don't set up there, you need to be over there and I need that table.", pointing off in a direction perfectly opposite where I was setting up. I transferred my stuff and started the ceremony setup. The arch in the yard had no electricity. When I asked about that all I got was a look, Allan walked away. A few minutes later I tried the power and it was working. The ceremony started about 10 minutes late but ran smoothly. Cocktails went smoothly as well. Allan approached about 45 minutes into the cocktail hour and said he wanted to do introductions, "Lets get this thing going so we can get outta here early." I told him if the Bride was on board with the early start, so was I. He replied, "I'm running the show here, not her." I started Intros on time and all went smoothly. There were only 60 people but there was alot of dancing. about 9:15 or so, people started to leave and the photo and video guys were starting to pack up. By 930 the remaining people were back in the cocktail area and I was alone in the main room. I asked if I could have the lights turned on and Allan said, "NO. The lights don't come on until 10pm." I started to pack up using my LEDs as work lights. I was about 2/3s packed when Allan's wife came in as said, "Are you done yet" (it was about 10:15). By 10:30, I looked up and Allan was standing over me waiting for me to finish. Once the cart was loaded I started towards the back door where the ramp was to find the exit blocked by a mountain of stacked chairs. I moved them and proceeded out the door. Once my cart was outside, all the outdoor and walkway lighting was turned off making it hard to navigate the pathway and inclined driveway. I managed to get to the car and loaded and was on the road by, 11:15. I will never under any circumstances ever work there again or accept bookings for anyone in my company to work there.
