The next time you're at work look at your co-workers to your left and then to your right... You just never know if any of them are great chefs/restaurateurs, painters, designers, etc underneath their day to day corporate America "costume"! Last night I found out that we had a great chef in our midst for years and never knew it! Ñaño is the latest addition to the Hell's Kitchen restaurant scene and this small yet cozy Ecuadorian restaurant packs a big punch!!! In one word, the food is EXCELLENT. The service was great and the atmosphere is quite relaxed, almost to the point where you feel right at home! Friday night my group of 5 went for the first time and we had almost all of the items on the menu (that's how we get down!) and loved every single one! While we shared the appetizers and dessert; the tilapia, grilled shrimp, mashed yucca and ñaño salad was my entree! Let me tell you that there was nothing and I mean nothing left on my plate once I was done! This is the first time a fish entree has left me so full that I wished I wore sweatpants that night!!! It was full of flavor, the fish was cooked perfectly and the mashed yucca??? OMG I had to pace myself (really). Luckily for me I've been able to order the Sancocho soup for lunch and I AM HOOKED! Ñaño has $7.99 lunch specials folks... you just can't beat it!!! Sooo Go! It's romantic enough for your significant other and cool enough to bring your friends, you'll like it. P.S. They do not have a liquor license yet but they're working on it and should have it soon! It shouldn't be your deal breaker though!

Delicious!! Had an awesome experience. Wonderful service :) Highly recommend. Great for small parties up to ~4. Small space would be hard with larger group.

Besides of the accurate and perfect Cholita drink, today I tried the delicious Seco de Pollo. It was the first time that I tried the Ecuadorian food and now, it could be one of my favorites cousines.. I really want to come back! And I just spent 10 dolars whit the lunch dish! I recommend!

Food was great, I'd recommend asking the owner for his favorite dishes! Loved the margaritas and seafood stew. Flavors are wonderful, ambiance is nice, a great date night before seeing a show!

I love coming here! The owner is amazing and he really makes me feel at home everytime I go there! The food is amazing, and the service is superb. My favorite dish is the Costilla--it is sooooo good! My go to sides are the tortillas de verde and ripe plantains. I always look forward to going to Ñaño:-). You must go--you will NOT be disappointed.

I went here with my boyfriend , we are both ecuadorian so we know good food when we taste it (especially from ecuador) . The restaurant was very small but suprisngly a nice enviorment to go on a date. The food was great and the prices too. But they should expand cause i cant imagine passing through when its crowded.

Wanted to try a cuisine we haven't done before and decided to try this place. The entrees were so good and seemed authentic. The owner was very friendly and walked us through what the dishes comprised (including the parts of Ecuador the ingredients are from). The ambience (pictures of his family were on the wall, good lighting ) and the size of the restaurant (really small) added to the cozy atmosphere. May want to call ahead on w weekend night since the tables were filling up fast. Only con is that entrees are a tad expensive ($15-$22), so be prepared for that. Definitely worth it though.

Delicious meal for a party of 9. Tiny place so be sure to call ahead. Everyone in my party raved over the food .. it was a hit. Definitely a must stop if you are in the area.

Another great night at Nano. Had a couple new dishes which were excellent - the Ceviche Mixto (you won't find better shrimp in a ceviche dish, the Swai is also excellent) and Chaulafan (Ecuadorian Fried Rice). Always a great time here.

Amazing food. Complimentary Plantain chips and salsa delicious. I had the pork and mashed yucca and my husband had the ribeye and sausage skewers. Awesome flavors. Super small venue, you could walk right by, but definitely make a point to stop. Great date night. Reasonable prices.

A hidden gem. It's a small and intimate restaurant. It probably seats a dozen, maybe a few more. It's incredibly sweet staff: the owner is the chef and his niece was the waitress. And they were both as nice as could be. The food was all excellent and the price was about a third to half less of the other places in the neighborhood. They were slow on the night we went, but there's no reason that they should be. We will definitely be back.

I've had plenty of Colombian & Peruvian food within the past decade but I've never had anything Ecua. I can tell that the food is authentic since I've had so much of their neighbor's food, but it seems they're catering to tourists and Manhattanites. Everything I had was cooked well but the portions were small and it seemed to lack...flavor. Nothing I had was memorable and couldn't compete with any of the Peruvian or Colombian food I've had. The one great thing was their sangria. It had lots of different fruits, vodka, and aguardiente! Places need to start making passion fruit sangria like this, but until then I guess I'll come back for their ceviche and sangria.

Twice I confirmed a reservation to this place only to discover, upon arrival with my family, that the manager had given my reserved table to someone else. Then, he told me that I was out of luck and would have to wait. Bad business.

This was an amazing place to eat. Had the ceviche and loved it. I also tried the plantain tortillas and was delighted by the flavor which was only outdone by the gorgeous aguardiente cocktail.

Delicious food every time I come here for the lunch special. It's a nice cozy place and the owner, Abel is very kind . He seems genuinely concerned that you enjoy the food and knows how to treat a customer. I love the portions for the lunch special since it's not a crazy amount of food but certainly enough to feel nice and full. The food is very flavorful as well. I highly recommend you give this place a try if you are looking for great food. It's a nice break from all the Thai and Mexican restaurants in the area. Glad I discovered this place it's a gem !

Ñaño is Amazing! I can't say enough about the food and the staff at this restaurant!! Today Ñaño catered lunch for our annual corporate meeting for 35 people and the menu selection was delicious! Everyone at the meeting raved about the food!! So that's 35 great more reviews!! Abel (owner) was able to make a great menu, and stayed within our budget. His team showed up on time and all of the food was fresh. They spared nothing! The food was outstanding! Nothing but great reviews. We had about 5 different dishes plus appetizers. Everything was so good, we wanted to try it all! I have also eaten inside the restaurant and the atmosphere and food is great there as well! This spot is great for a nice quant home cooked Ecuadorian meal! Bravo Ñaño, see you soon!!

We had a reservation for 6:30pm. After arriving the hostess told us sorry they had to tables for us because they had a party of 8 coming in at 7pm-- all being said as we stood next to two open tables and two other tables about to leave. Lame move considering we had a reservation. Thankfully, there are plenty of other great restaurants in the area.

Would give 4.5. Had the frittata (no eggs) and loved it. Service was a little slow even though there were only two groups. No one there at 6pm when I went. Great place for a change of pace meal before the theater.

So I recently decided to try this place with one of my coworkers after work since we both love ecuadorian food. The food was great, small quantity for the price but pretty decent and typical ecuadorian food. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and tortillas de verde. I highly recommend the tortillas! The owner is the cook and he's ecuadorian which is great since the food has that authenticity to it. The drinks seem interesting- most of them consisting of aguardiente. I don't think I'll be going back for dinner though since it isn't a decent serving for the price. I probably will stop by to try the drinks though!

Fantastic! This a must. Its a small, neat, quaint space that is no frills. Food is simply wonderful. Abel, the owner is quite charming and engaging. Around the restaurant he hing up pictures of his family. He recommended different dishes and even his favorites. I had the stew chicken and the ceviche. The portions are plentiful at a reasonable price point. I strongly recommend it for an intimate date night or fun with friends.

You could walk right by this place but DON'T! The food was marvelous, the drinks tasty and definitely a generous pour. The salsa was the best and tastiest I have ever had. Seafood was fresh. Sauces tasty. Sadly u had no room for dessert. The place is small, seats about 18. Service was excellent; friendly, responsive and prompt.

Great Ecuadorean food. Elevating Ecuadorean cuisine to a higher level in NYC. I love everything from here from sanduches de chancho, tortillas de verde, ceviche, tender delicious ribs, carne en palitos with white corn. The drink menus is fabulous. I highly recommend this restaurant. Great and friendly service. Prices are affordable. My fav spot for Ecuadorean meals.

We were thoroughly impressed! My wife and I went there for the first time last week and we'll definitely go back. The owner, Abel, was super nice and talked to us for a bit. We shared a ceviche to start, which was excellent. For dinner, it was the fritada for my wife and chaulafan for me. Both were seasoned perfectly with a good portion. The wine menu features a handful of red and whites, all priced in the mid $20s for a bottle. We didn't try any of the special cocktails, although we'll definitely get to those at some point. The space itself is cozy (yes, you can read that to mean "small") with I think about 16-20 seats total. The decor is really cool and it just feels great being there. Definitely a good place for a summer evening. If the insanity of the 9th Ave Hell's Kitchen restaurant scene has gotten too much, it's definitely worth hopping over to 10th Ave to check this place out.

This is truly a hidden gem! I had a last minute birthday lunch here and the service was great! The salsa served with plantain chips is truly addicting as well as the raspberry aguardiente cocktail! The pork sliders were succulent and well flavored and the shrimp ceviche was perfectly simple. My friend and I split the fried fish special that came with a lentil and rice dish and maduros! SO GOOD! I will definitely be making this a neighborhood go to! They even brought me a yummy brownie like cupcake topped with a banana walnut sauce. Loved it all!

This place was great. I was in NYC for 1 night for work and wanted a nice place to catch up with friends. The restaurant is small and intimate, which means noise levels are low - so it was a great setting for real conversation. The food was great too, and it was easy for everyone in my group to find something they wanted, even with an array of allergies and eating restrictions. A gem!

I have gone to Naño's a couple of times and have tried different plates. And all have been great! Definitely recommend the Sanduche de chancho it is amazing. Not only is the food great but the service as well, Abel really makes you feel welcomed at his restaurant. I highly recommend it and will definitely be going back! If you want to try Ecuadorian cuisine go to Naño's!

Came here Friday after work for a quick meal. Very attentive service from the owner Abel! Tiny restaurant on 10th ave, very much reminded me of an upscale version of the family run Ecuadorian restaurants from my time living there. I had the fritada and left absolutely stuffed! Can't wait to see what new Ecuadorian dishes are going to be on the menu. Definitely looking forward to going back when I'm in the neighborhood!

Loved this small but classy spot. Bravo to the owner for bringing latin american cusine on a more sophisticated level. I had the pork sliders and plantains with gooey cheese, which very good. Loved the hot sauce. My entree was soo tasty, I had the pork chunks served with the best yuca mash I have ever had! It also came with a salad and the dressing on that was delish. The best part was my bill was under 50 bucks!? Do your self a favor and give this place a shot, you wont regret it. Cant wait to go back, hopefully liquor will be available then = ) Good luck NANO.

Wife and I wanted Latin food and narrowed to anejo (which we had been to before and is right across the street) or nano, and we were very pleased with our choice. Nano has a comfortable feel and wonderful food. Had the pork sliders and the pork entre with a side of sweet plantains. Very reasonable prices. Would recommend. Pride of ownership by the chef who came at the end to thank us.

Last week, I happened to be in the neighborhood and came across this little cute restaurant. I took a brief look at the menu, it looked interesting, and happened to take a chance and have dinner there. I didn't have an appetizer, but I did have an entree, dessert, and coffee. Personally, I'm not a fan of pork, but the pork dish they have looked interesting, so I decided to go for it and ordered it. It was amazing! The tamarind sauce that comes with was delicious, and the yuca mashed was too good to be true. I like a little but of spiciness on my meals, so I asked for a side of spicy sauce. The cute charming waitress brought me a side of some sort of spicy green sauce, I almost just drank the sauce alone, it was yum yum!! The dessert was good too. The coffee was tasty and kept me wired for like 5 hours, which is exactly what I wanted! Overall, I was pretty surprised by this place, I'm planning to take some friends there next week. THE only sucky part is that they don't serve alcohol. I think they just opened and are waiting for their license to be approved.

A few months back, I was searching for a venue to host my girlfriend's bridal shower. After hearing about Nano from a girlfriend of mine, we checked it out. As soon as I walked in, I knew we HAD to have the party here. Nano is cozy, warm and inviting. Anyone who's planned any kind of surprise party knows how quickly things can change. The owner, Abel Castro was wonderful to work with and he made sure my girlfriend had the perfect event. Everything from the food, service and décor was amaze-balls! If you're planning an event or just looking for a great meal, it's so worth it to go to Nano. If you don't know what you're having for dinner tonight, go to Nano. If you're looking for great customer service, go to Nano. Just go, you won't be disappointed.

This is a lovely, cozy, homey little place with great food and genuinely kind owners/staff. We stumbled on this by accident and are glad we did. I had the Cazuela, a fish dish with a plantain puree, which the chef was kind enough to make without peanuts for my allergies. I could see how the peanuts would enhance the dish, but it was well-prepared comfort food. My bf had the sour chicken which was tender and delicious. Both entrees came with a delicious side salad-- the cured onions added a great touch. We also ordered a side of mashed yuca-- way more starch than we needed for our meal, but it was fun to try. Another diner had soup, which looked amazing, so that's on my list for next time. The place is tiny (which is why I know what the other diners had!). I imagine once word gets out, you'll have to reserve in advance. But we feel fortunate to have just walked in off the street to discover such soulful Latin cuisine.

Love, love, loved it here. We randomly popped in after going, "hmm, I wonder what Ecuadorian food tastes like" and really enjoyed our first experience with it here. The restaurant is pretty typical of a tiny, hole-in-the-wall Manhattan restaurant -- there couldn't have been much more than four or five tables in the entire place. Still, at 7:00 on a Sunday, we didn't have any trouble getting a table for two. The tortillas de verde (cheese-filled plantains) were an excellent appetizer. For our main course, we got the carne en palito (steak and chorizo with chimichurri sauce) and the cazuela (swai and shrimp casserole). Both were great and very reasonably priced for what seems like a popular newish restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. The service was also fantastic and the sole waiter working that evening was super friendly and awesome.

I loved this place. It was small though, like it only had two high tables and three booths so be weary of that when making plans. The food was amazing and it was super fresh. The only reason why I didn't give it the full 5 stars is because of the service. The owner wasn't really nice and was actually pretty sarcastic to us. It was off-putting. But maybe he was just having a bad day. Besides that, I HIGHLY recommend it. I attached a picture of my dish, the carne en palo :)

Go here NOW, forget the other trite theatre district restaurants. Nano offers delicious food, and by delicious I mean, authentically amazing. It's a small space, definitely bring your date here. We had ceviche for an appetizer, which was spot on. My boyfriend had the Sango de res, and I had the chicken with yucca mash. We loved what we ordered but I must say the Sango was especially delectable. If you do decide to take your date here be sure to order rounds of aguardiente. You'll be happy you came to this spot. Nano, if stuffy city people don't appreciate what you're cooking up, please make your way to Brooklyn. Please!

Wow. This place has exceeded my expectation and wowed me with its food and services. I came in after an almost 4 hour journey from Boston and after I walked in, I've learned that OpenTable had canceled my reservation. Needless to say, I was not exactly in a good mood. The owner/manager/host guy was very nice assured me that a table would be ready soon. Luckily it didn't take very long and the nice man thanked me for my patience. We started with a class of the Spanish white, which I thought was good. We were than offered some in-house made complimentary plantain chips with salsa. The taste of this particular salsa was new for me but I've really enjoyed it. What blew me away more was the entree. Despite the unassuming little restaurant, the entree was beautifully presented. When I took a bite of my shrimp, I remembered thinking "wow" in my mind. I've also tried my companion's order of shrimp and fish with coconut sauce. It was simply amazing. The food tasted very fresh and not as heavy as I had feared. The portion was just about right and they even refilled our wine. The service was very attentive and timely. It was also a nice touch that the owner/manager man called me by my name. I've made many reservations under my name, and only this place made the effort to use it as part of its service.

This place was amazingly delicious. I would strongly suggest that you make a reservation at least an hour or two ahead of time ... Especially on the weekend. They have maybe 5 tables. We ordered chicken and a New York strip steak. They both were great. The steak came with fried eggs. The portions weren't huge, but they were satisfying. I would also suggest trying one of the Ecuador mixed drinks. Delicious. You really can't go wrong. Finally, the server was great. He was super friendly and just made the experience all the greater.

They don't have a lunch menu out when you walk in but it does exist. Its basically yellow rice sweet plantain lentils and the meat of your choice only including fish chicken and fish (no beef). The server was kind and for working alone, he was quick to serve us. I liked the complimentary plantain chips and yummy sauce. The apple soda reminds me of the Colombian one we have called Manazana Postobon, nearly identical. This place is not good for groups. You can fit about 12 people in the entire place, so keep that in mind if. If you must bring a large party, its a lot safer to make a reservation in advance.

What a good find! We were short for time so only ordered a couple of small dishes. We ordered the Humita twice, because it was that good. I had the NIÑA PIÑA aguardiente cocktail - which I also would have ordered twice had we not been in a rush. The Tortillas de Verde were alright, but I thought on the slightly bland side. The sweet plantains were good as well, and topped with powdered sugar which was unique. Service was friendly and I'd definitely come back to check out some entrees or lunch specials if I'm in the area.

Wasn't really sure what Ecuadorian food really was before coming here, but now I know that it is delicious! The place itself is really small in a good way, maybe seating for 20 people, and the front is a giant open window to the street which is really nice. Ok, on to the food, I had the Fritadas which was chunks of pork with yucca, and this was pretty good. The pork had a hint of the flavor and smell of Halal Guys chicken, and it was nice and crispy and perfectly cooked. It also came with a dipping sauce, and taking a scoop of pork, dipping sauce and the yucca all together was delicious. Also sampled the chicken and rice dish, and i liked this even more than my pork dish, the chicken was nice and spicy and the rice was perfect, next time i come back i'll be ordering this dish for myself! For a drink I had the Tinamorita cocktail, and I dont normally order cocktails but this drink was tasty and fresh (firewater + crushed blackberries + malibu), the perfect drink for a hot humid day, so refreshing. I also tasted their version of the Pina Colada, the Pina Nano, and this was equally good, the condensed milk adding a nice creamy sweet flavor that wasnt too overpowering and still let the firewater shine through. The menu is really great and there was at least 4-5 different things I wanted to try and I will definitely be coming to try more of what they offer. The service was also great, the guy we had was happy, laughy and very helpful in guiding us to meals and drinks we'd all enjoy.

This tiny restaurant is gorgeous! The food is amazing, absolutely delicious, and very different from anything I have tried before. I had visitors from England with me who loved it. Our waiter was lovely as well, took care of us and gave us some great recommendations. Will definitely come back here soon.

The food is amazing but the place is tiny, I don't even think 20 people fit here. We went on a scorching hot and humid day. It's an an al fresco type if restaurant, so I was suffocating with no fan or A.C. Will definitely return after summer is over. Back to food, amazing authentic . My friend who is Ecuadorian, recommended this spot. Everything is flAvorful, burst in your mouth. The sweet plantain with cheese fritter is amazing. Paella like entree forgot what it's called. The ceviche, all was delish. Recommend it. If it was close to my job, I would order food to go.

I have never had Ecuadorian food, but I enjoyed this place! My coworker wanted to check this place out so we made the trek from Chinatown to see if it would be worth visiting. The restaurant is VERY small, maybe about 8 tables or so. Make sure you get there early if you don't want to wait around. The waiter/host was very friendly and make recommendations to us throughout the meal. We started off with the pork sliders - SO GOOD. Even though the menu says "lean cuts" of pork, it's actually quite fatty. But honestly, who really wants to eat lean pork? It's all about that juicy part. The pickled onions on top really add that nice crunch and citrus to balance out the flavors. My friend ordered the chicken and rice for his entree and said it was good (I didn't try any of it so I can't say for sure). The pork I ordered was the same meat from the sliders (granted, the owner did mention that I should probably order something else since they will be similar), but that was fine because more of a good thing is ALWAYS a good thing... right? Anyway, that came with a salad that helped to add the citrus and acid to the dish. But the most intriguing part was the yucca potatoes. It looked like a normal mashed potatoes, but had a very strange consistency. It was a bit gelatinous and sticky. I thought I wouldn't like it, but it's unique feel in my mouth made me enjoy it even more. A great side to the meal! Overall, I enjoyed the food and the experience, but it is quite pricey. The two of us ended up with a bill of about $60 including tip. If budget is not an issue, check them out!

It's only fair that my very first review be of my new favorite place. This place is beyond amazing!!!!!! After a long day of studying passed this cute restaurant and had the lunch special with the complimentary chips and ordered stewed fish with lentils, rice and plantains (I Highly recommend) I had this for an entire week in a row. The owner is so friendly and the whole vibe of this place is like being at home eating my moms cooking!!!!! The best part is I dined in for brunch last Saturday hosted by coco (extremely fun and entertaining) lets just say after a bunch of delicious cholita's ( puréed house berries and Ecuadorian aguardiente) my weekend was started right!!!! GREAT food, GREAT service.. Hidden gem!

Sampled four dishes among friends (steak, shrimp and fish, pork, and beef stew). All were fantastic: good portions and great flavors. The waiter was charming and hospitable. Great place to go for a weekend dinner. Would definitely revisit.

Saw the great reviews and wandered in. Much looked good, so I asked, "what should I order?" I did as suggested and it was amazing. I had the chicken. it was stewed and had rice and plantains. The sauce was intriguing, complex, aromatic, and different. The plantains had started to caramelize and were fantastic. It was one of the best meals I've had on this trip. It's a small place. Atmosphere is just average. Food and service and friendliness of the workers there -- priceless! You guys made my day!

We stopped in here yesterday for there lunch special. We walked into this very cozy spot and was warmly greeted by the owner. We chose the fish and the pork lunch special and they were both Amazing! Both fresh and extremely tasty. It came with a tea which was so refreshing as well great for summer time. This place is going to be a huge hit and I truly suggest everyone try it out. You won't be disappointed.

Since it opened, I have passed by this place countless times considering how close I live, and had a deep regret for not stopping by for a bite. Now that I have I feel like it was hyped a bit too much. Extremely small but never at capacity, Ñaño is a great place for summer eating as the open space is made for the good weather. Ordered the Cazuela ($19) due to awesome reviews and a hearty appetite. About 10 min in I got my drink (strong) and free banana chips with dipping sauce. Good thing those chips were there because it took 40 minutes for my meal to come out. This was particularly surprising considering there was only one other table that was waiting for food. Food itself - rather disappointing, the saltiness of the seafood overpowered the rest of the meal. I was hoping for a little kick of spice, but was very mild. Plain rice and a few leaves to the side added nothing to the meal (I guess they don't serve plantains with the dish anymore). I'm glad I tried it to get it out of the way, but the place is overpriced for a small lackluster meal. Service could also be better. Drink was good though.

I went there for my last dinner in NYC, needless to say that we were looking for something special. The owner was very friendly and helpful and helped us to choose (as everything sounds very interesting) We had this very fresh and good drink and dried banana chips and two different main courses (fish and chicken). The food was delicious and the drink made our day perfect. It's a very small and cozy place, perfect for a "dinner for two" but not for groups. I warmly recommend this place for everyone who likes good, fresh and special food!

This place is tiny and cute and has good food and friendly service. We went as a group of 6 and practically filled the entire restaurant. I had a lovely flavourful fried rice dish with seafood, and our waiter gave us two free desserts to share in the spirit of the holidays. It's in my hood and yummy. I'd go again.

Found Nano Ecuadorian Kitchen by chance on OpenTable when searching for restaurants near the Boltbus stop on 33rd. We were 15 minutes early for our 12PM reservation and the restaurant had not yet officially opened for business, but the server let us come in from the cold and sit down inside, which we greatly appreciated. This place is a total GEM. The location itself is pretty small and can probably seat no more than 15 people. Decor is modern and clean, the service was SUPER attentive and friendly, and the food, my goodness, the food was DELICIOUS. I got the Caldo de Bola (beef soup featuring a plantain dumpling filled with beef, egg, raisins and peanuts) with a side of rice and lentils and was absolutely blown away. On a cold day in early January, the rich, warm soup really hit the spot, and the plantain dumpling, which I saved for last, had an incredible consistency and flavor. All in all, amazing! The rice and lentils were also amazingly delicious, so on point, I could not stop wowing over them throughout the lunch. Lastly, the plantains we ordered on the side were really great. Soft, sweet, delicious! The plantains (and the Latin music in the background) had me dancing in my seat, no joke. I usually don't like to repeat restaurants in New York City, but I will definitely be back to Nano! The restaurant is so cozy and homey, the service is so attentive and welcoming, and the food is phenomenal! Check it out!

I'm Ecuadorian and wanted to try this restaurant in the city so we stopped by with my bf for the 1st time on Thursday night. The decor and space is great perfect spot for a date night or a relaxing time with friends. The owner was extremely nice, very friendly down to earth and that's a plus for every restaurant. Food was AMAZING, those are typical dishes from Ecuador so I can tell the different on the taste well I felt like I was in Ecuador while eating a few things we ordered. The drinks were good but we preferred Beer. I have to admit I left very happy and full and I can't wait to go back to try other dishes and bring friends that are dying to try really good Ecuadorian food.

Amazing service, drinks, and food. I came here for lunch with my boyfriend- no one in the place so service was on point. This place seems to get packed after 5pm though. Small- only 5 tables- which makes for an intimate experience. The food is out of this world- not only in taste but presentation. Highly recommend if you want to dabble in a different genre of food or for your Ecuadorian fix. Thrilled this place exists just a few blocks down the road.

This place is amazing!!!!! My fiancé is from Ecuador and he craved a "home" cooked meal. Well that's exactly what we got, in fact my fiancés exact words were "this is better than my moms cooking" it was just so authentic and packed with flavor. Its a cozy small restaurant with a brunch and dinner menu. We did the dinner menu I got the pollo seco, soo delicious and my fiancé got the soup "caldo de bolas" again soo good. loved the complimentary plantain chips and salsa. Here the unexpected happened, we were greeted by Coco De Ball (drag queen) she was working there to welcome guests and mingle guests...she performed a song and routine for us and played music that fed your soul. Too bad I was too tired from all the walking at first otherwise I would've been there all day but as we encountered in conversation with her my fiancé, son, the owner and other guests it felt good to talk to people from that area and other areas and just engage in real conversation. Its a place where you feel like you belong regardless of the differences this world brings us. Coco even gave us a complimentary shot which was also delicious. All in all a great time, great personalities and AMAZING FOOD!!!!! Looking forward to visiting again when I return to NYC.

Nano is such a great addition to HK. We came here on a weeknight and it was pretty empty [this is by no means calling it bad], with only another party of two joining us. The restaurant is quite small but very cozy and well kept. The prices for food were pretty decent for the neighborhood, ranging from $13-$25 per entree. You do not even have to order appetizer because the portions were generous but just enough to not overwhelm you. If you are going to order any additional sides I would recommend Mashed Yuca. It is seriously out of this world! I thought it was filled with a butt load of cheese since it was so creamy and good, but nope just yuca and some butter. Although I didn't get to order the appetizer, i was recommended that the little sandwiches. They were apparently very popular there, will try next time! They do take reservations and I recommend calling in advance if you are planning to come with a party.Once you sit down they give you a little side of plantain chips and dip on the house. It was a very nice gesture. Over the course of out meal, the waiter kept coming over to see if we enjoyed our food. It was very nice to receive such intimate and attentive service in such a busy city. BL: Would definitely come here again to try their brunch!

A good find. I would've given them 4 stars but the service was poor. The owner was great very friendly and apologized for the wait. The other server that brought us the check was rude; we asked if we could bring our leftovers home and he looked at me and didn't even acknowledge me. While he picked up the plates he dropped a fork on my pants and didn't apologize or say anything instead he looked at me and just walked away. We asked for the sauce that came with our meal to be put in the doggy bag and he threw it out. And the containers that our leftovers came in weren't even closed. Maybe this guy just had a bad day but this will make me rethink going to nano.

Ñaño means brother or best friend and that is the precise vibe it conveys. It's the kind of place you want to go with friends for delicious, unique food. I called to make a reservation and was greeted by the owner/executive chef, Abel. He ensured me I'd have a table and a great dining experience. I had the beef stew served with white rice and a salad, which is not your momma's beef stew, unless your momma is Abel. My friend had the pork which came with mashed yuca and a salad. For an appetizer, we each got a soup and the pork sliders. At the end of the meal, the waitress brought out a plaintain dessert because I mentioned it was my friend's birthday when I made the reservation. So gracious! I recommend this place for many reasons. It is authentic Ecuadorian cuisine, full of flavor and flair. It was very reasonably priced, especially considering the large portions, HK location and atmosphere. This is the perfect date spot so the next time you make Match.com plans, go here and impress your date.

The food and cocktails were all fantastic. Christopher took good care of us while Abel was on vacation. We took a group of 7, and somehow managed to get a table on a Saturday night. The spicy chicken stew was flavorful, and the caramelized plantains provided a great flavor balance. I also had the Agrio cocktail - passion fruit, lime juice and aguardiente - yum! Would definitely go back!

Been to Nano a number of times. Love the food and warm friendly service. Abel the owner welcomes you in like its his home. As far as dishes, especially like the Pork Siders, the Caldo de Bola beef soup (with dumplings), Seco de Pollo, Pescado and Chaulafan (fried rice dish). Also, don't forget to try the drinks made with Aqaurdiente

  • Farhad S.

I have no idea how the reviews here are so high. The service was good but man.. The food.. Just awful. You take a bite and everything has decent initial flavor but the after-taste hits you 5 seconds later. It killed my appetite for the rest of the night. Everything was greasy and fried in an overcooked not-so-good way. My friend thought the same thing and we got different dishes.

This was a true five star dining experience. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, and our server was friendly and made sure we enjoyed or experience. We were there for nearly two hours before we asked for the check - in Manhattan this is a luxury. I wish I lived closer to this place so I could check out their lunch specials. The place is tiny though, so be sure to call ahead if you have a larger group.

4 people 4 different dinners and everyone happy. I think that speaks volumes. This place was good from start to finish... Abel is adorable, attentive and gives lessons on the food and the drinks - which are wonderful! What a gem! Bon appetit! Ecuadorian style. It will make you want to visit this wonderful country!

A hidden GEM!!! BEST Ecuadorian food you will ever have in the city!!!! You and your guest will feel warm and welcomed!

Pros: - Quaint hole-in-the-wall spot in Hells Kitchen - Main dish was hearty and just okay Cons: - Found a big hair in the dipping sauce with the plantains (this ruined the whole dinner for me) - Extremely freezing the whole time where people were wearing their jackets - Service was not friendly, we had to ask for water, for silverware, and just about everything else we wanted Was a miss for us, but maybe we just went there on a bad night...

Really cute restaurant with the sweetest family owning the place. I love how the walls are decorated with the family's history. My husband and I were given a bowl of plantain chips to munch on while we waited for our food. I ordered the fritada--chunks of fried pork with a side of salad and rice w/lentils. Overall, thought it was pretty good--some of the pork was very moist, but other pieces were pretty dry. My husband got the carne asada (grilled New York strip) and this was very tender. We weren't the biggest fans of the mashed yucca though.

I came here with a group of friends, originally set for 9 but in the end turned out to be 6. The restaurant is small but really lovely for dinner for two or a small group. Abel (the owner) was extremely welcoming and flexible with our group. He made us some really delicious drinks and recommended great dishes that would be the most traditional Ecuadorian food on the menu. Although that was my first time trying Ecuadorian food, my friends who have all tried it before also loved it! I can't believe I haven't been here sooner considering I live in the neighborhood. I can't wait to go back! Thanks Abel!

Wednesday night at 8:30pm had two or three vacant tables. The restaurant had only a handful of tables literally as the establishment is quite small. Decor and atmosphere is definitely for a small intimate groups or pairs. No loud, overbearing music which is a plus. Chicken strips $13 and pork chunks $16 were delicious. Definitely would return if in the area. Entree and drink (no appetizers) with tip + tax is easily around $30-$38 per person

This small and cute restaurant would get a lot more attention if it were not hidden in a quiet area on 10th Avenue. The food is on par with any other better-than-average restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. i had no idea what Ecuadorian food was, but was decently impressed by the flavors. Future husband and I came in at 9 pm on a Saturday and the only other people in the restaurant was another couple. Keep in mind though, the restaurant only fits 15 people (I counted the seats). We were greeted with a bowl of crispy plantain chips and some sort of green salsa. We pretty much finished that bowl in like 5 minutes because it was so tasty! Future husband ordered the Sudado (tilapia and shrimp with white rice & salad), and I ordered the Fritada (pork and mashed yucca & salad). My pork was just ok - and it came with a sauce that didn't really do much to add to the flavor. The mashed yucca was a treat though, because you would think it would taste like mashed potatoes, but it's like more of a slimier version of it. But a slimy yummy version. The Sudado was a more impressive dish with colors and more flavor. But what I was most impressed with was the white rice! The white rice had some sort of added punch to it that made it much more interesting than your typical white rice. One thing to note though, Yelp notes the price range to be two dollar signs - which I would estimate to almost close to 3 dollar signs as entrees range from about $15-$27. The staff was very attentive - but it also didn't hurt that by the time we left, we were the only ones in the restaurant. Nevertheless, we want to keep this restaurant around so come by and check it out to see for yourself! PROS: yummy cultural and non-Thai food in Hell's Kitchen is always a plus, great service, intimate setting CONS: a bit pricier than the typical Thai food in Hell's Kitchen, a little further away from the action

Went here on a mid-week dinner date and it was spot on! Abel is very friendly and makes dining there very relaxing and comfortable. The Fritada with mashed yuca and salad was amazing - the pork was nice and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and didn't get all tough and chewy as it cooled down. It was my first time having mashed yuca but I would have gotten extra to take home if I weren't so full. The space is very small, though, so would highly recommend making a recommendation on busy nights.

Came by this place since we were in the neighborhood for a show, and it was an amazing find (and also on Open Table!) The place is really tiny but cozy and well decorated, and the service is extremely friendly and attentive. Everything about the service and the food make you feel like you're eating at someone's house and getting home cooked food straight from their kitchen. When seated, we were presented with a bowl of plantain chips and green salsa - the salsa was really sour and extremely addictive. We had the shrimp ceviche, the caldo de bolas soup, the pork entree, and the orange zest chicken entree, along with two cocktails (they have their liquor license now!). Everything was delicious. The shrimp had the perfect doneness, the pork entree came with a delicious sauce, mashed yucca, and salad, and the chicken was tasty with the same sides. The cocktails were made by our waitress, and they were really well mixed and easy to drink (and gorgeously presented). The thing that was the biggest highlight for me, though,w as the caldo de bolas soup - a rich beef soup with yucca and green plantain dumplings filled with hard boiled eggs, vegetables, raisins, and beef. The taste was so complex, hearty, and delicious - it's really hard to describe unless you've actually had it, but I highly recommend it. I'd come back here just for this soup! Would highly recommend this place for couples or pairs, but a party any larger than four may be a bit difficult since seating is limited. So delicious!

Great restaurant. It's small but looks nice and clean and the owner Abel is there to greet guests and serve them. The ceviche was really good, and some of his dishes were top notch. I would like to see them add arroz con pollo to the menu, which is a very Ecuadorian dish and expected when going to an Ecuadorian restaurant. Otherwise the sango was great. I would Highly recommend and come back one day soon!

Delicious food with outstanding flavors! Very charming modern decor with cool old vintage family photos. it's an intimate space with limited seating. I live next door and notice they have awesome weekday specials as from $7-10. I had a sauteed chicken dish with rice, lentils, sweet plantains, salad and an iced tea. Huge portion for a great price, scrumptious, and to top it off: great service from Abel!

I've returned several times after my initial review, and let me tell you: This Place just keeps getting better and better!!! The menu has expanded exponentially, and I do HAVE to recommend you try the Carne en Palito (beef grilled on skewers). SO tender, with just the right amount of fat. Also, if you're in the mood for seafood, go for the casuela (sort of like a seafood stew). Worth mentioning is the new cocktail list, created by the owner, Abel (nicest man ever) mostly containing different tropical fruit purées and Puro de Caña, Ecuador's versión of moonshine (it's safe, I promise). I was very happy to see the crowd was mainly American, as this proves my first impression of Ñaño was right: it's the launch pad for Ecuadorean food into the New York culinary scene. Give it a shot!

    (5)
  • Lisette G.

Our server was awesome! Although it took some time to get some drinks out, he was the only one working so I sympathized. He was a bartender/server. Our food came out great and not to mention the awesome drinks! I would definitely recommend Ñaño! The guatita is a must have!

What a let down! Ecuadorian food can be so delicious and I thought NY out of all places would have the best ceviche ecuatoriano.. Too bad ñaño was more like "hermanito hijuepuchica, que te paso?!" They need to find an Ecuadorean beer distributor ASAP- no Pilsener or Club.... No mote con chicharron, llapingachos or menestras. I wanted to cry. The ceviche menu also doesn't have ceviche de concha. Whattttt!? I figured a ceviche would be an accurate indication of the calibre of food and was incredibly upset when a tiny cup with like 3 shrimp showed up with that awkward attempt to make ceviche with ketchup.. Some ecuadorians use a dash to enhance sweetness in ceviche this was an outright substitution of encebollado for Hunt's or whatever weird ketchup was used and made it too damned sweet. No thanks. I get it why some people that have never had great ceviches claim Peruvian ceviche is the best. There's a shortage of great Ecuadorean ceviche being served in restaurants. This was more like shrimp with cocktail sauce and Pico de gallo. Ecuadorian cuisine is one of the tastiest odes to seafood and sadly this attempt failed to please. Even ceviches de la Rumiñahui at an airport can put this place to shame.

This is truly a hidden gem. In such a big city most places forget the importance of customer service, but Abel and his staff make you feel right at home. They are professional and very friendly. The place itself is great, the decor and the music make the place come alive. The food is delicious, the meat is tender and the vegetables fresh. They have a great selection of mixed drinks and they give you complimentary plantain chips before each meal! My boyfriend and I love this place so much, that when we double date with friends we make sure to bring them to Naño for dinner! They've all had a great experience that they even go back without us!:) Thank you Abel for always making us feel like home. Next time I'm in NY, I'll come in for dinner. -Cecilia & Nes

What I've Had: Tortas de verde, Sudado, & Torta de Manqueno Would I go Back?: YES Story: I have yet to hear of (besides in queens) of a good ecuadorian style restaurant in manhattan but this place is definitely the place to visit if there (and now there is) one. Came here after work with a co worker (we're both ecuadorian) and had been missing home a bit - everything we had tasted like we were back in our parents kitchen. Bolones is how i grew up referring to the tortas de verde - essentially what they are - are balls of plantain mashed created into a ball with cheese in the center and then fried - delicious. Sudado is basically translated to "sweated" fish so the fish is essentially sweated out with shrimp and some other sea food and seasonings and served with rice and such - delicious as well. Dessert always my favorite part of the meal was the torta manqueno - which is a plantain cake - also awesome. Overall atmosphere was nice - very small place - but if you're looking to try ecuadorian and don't want to leave manhattan COME HERE.

Great food and very personable service. We honestly felt like we were eating homemade Ecuadorean food at the owners house. Of course, with a bit more trendy atmosphere. The restaurant is very small with only 5-6 tables inside but the food was delicious enough that I would sit on the sidewalk if I had to. It was simple, fresh and flavorful and I will be back.

First, Abel is the best. It is a pleasure to visit his restaurant. I love it here. He went above and beyond for my group. We went for brunch to celebrate a birthday. Added bonus: Coco DeBall, she was lots of fun! The brunch menu was great variety, I will definitely return to try more of the home cooked favorites, looking at you, Seco de Pollo. And the cocktails were even better -- be careful though, Ecuadorian aguardiente is a sneaky friend! I feel very at home at this place!

I was very excited to see an Ecuadorian restaurant in the city. The fact that it was in Hells Kitchen made it even better. So for location it was great. For food, I can say it was ok for the price point it is at. I do have to say it is definitely not authentic Ecuadorian food. I ordered seco de pollo and it was just ok, hence the 3 stars. We can't expect to have the best food. It's very rare that a place can pull authentic Ecuadorian food, even harder to do so in the city. Restaurant's name is unique and great choice, however you must be able to meet and exceed expectations when such a name is used. Food needs adjustments to exceed an Ecuadorian palette. NANO gets 3 stars for the effort, creativity, and customer service. I strongly suggest getting some Ecuadorian cooks to really add a seasoning touch. It has an amazing potential if food improves. I love the fact that it has Ecuadorian Aguardiente based cocktails. I am not sure it is Zhumir tho. I do wish Pilsener could be served. Will I return? perhaps... It's not a want to go option. Maybe I'll stop by for drinks... that's about it. Again great effort but it did not exceed my expectations.

I had a group of six to please but was adamant about Nano because I wanted our exchange student from Ecuador to have a "taste of home." Well, we were beyond impressed with this restaurant. From the cocktails and delicious apps to the main courses to die for, everything was over the top delicious. Now I know why it received such high food ratings. Very small, but charming. Excellent service. Can't wait to go back!!

I'm sorry but I really have experienced MUCH better. It was definitely disappointing. Sweet waitress and they did the best they could with ambience for such a small space...but their idea of a side salad is a few pieces of iceberg lettuce, a couple pieces of onions and a few leaves of cilantro. And the entree just wasn't all that tasty. Not bad exactly...just a let down.

Ñaño's food and staff were amazing! We had to wait 30 minutes for a group of three to finish half a glass of wine and the owner brought us very tasty shots to compensate. We had a lot of fun joking with the staff and the food was fantastic. They even made their Yuka mash vegan especially for me! I had the chicken stew and pork sliders and both were fantastic. Plus their plantains are to die for! I'll be coming back next time I'm in NYC!

This place was very good! I am glad we found it through yelp. Although it is a very tiny place, it is packed with a friendly and attentive staff. The margaritas were great at happy hour and the food was really good. I had the Chalafan. The ceviche was good but not what I expected. It was a bit too limey and nutty. Oher than that, this is a great place to keep in your pocket!

Just had brunch here on Saturday, heard about it from a friend. The place is very small but I was pleasantly surprised that they were still able to accommodate my group of 9 with reservations and no one felt cramped. Everything was very reasonably priced, the food was delicious and the drinks were strong & tasty! To top it all off, brunch was hosted by a drag queen, Coco De'Ball. She definitely kept everyone entertained, laughing and having a good time. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try if you're considering it and I would definitely go again if I had the opportunity!

Very tiny yet cozy spot. Nice for an intimate date but don't think of even coming here with a large group. Didn't take long to get seated and after our orders were taken we were given complimentary plantain chips. Our Fritada and Arroz con Pollo came out pretty quickly and tasted delicious. The owner was very friendly and made time to go around and chat with all patrons which I found nice. Would love to return to try other dishes. My only warning is to make reservations beforehand because of limited space.

This place is amazing. I'm not really sure where to start. The place is small but cozy. Drinks are great, STRONG and not overpriced! All the drinks incorporated fresh fruit so thumbs up!! The service is perfect. We were treated like family. The host constantly checked on us made casual conversation and made helpful suggestions when asked. Actually he did that with everyone there. Now the food. The food was outstanding. I'm Ecuadorian so obviously very familiar with the cuisine. All of the dishes were perfection. I had to ask if my grandma was back there cooking!!! Ecuadorian cuisine is not spicy so don't go there expecting spicy food. Ecuadorian food is well spiced so all the dishes have full flavors!! Caldo de Bolas - excellent! Start there!! Arroz con lentejas - super tasty. Don't miss!! Only reason this place does not get 5 stars is because there is always room for improvement. You should always strive to do better. Can't wait to go back with my mom so she can taste delicious food from her country!!

I was looking into restaurants in Hell's Kitchen area and came across to a great surprise to see there was an Ecuadorian restaurant in that area and decided to give it a shot. Cute little small restaurant. One star for ambiance, another star for service and another star for portion & presentation of dishes. I would have love to give an excellent review on the food but I will be fair enough and say it was ok Ecuadorian food, not bad but definitely worth a try (portions were good). Maybe my opinion on the food is not at all fair as food does have flavor and presentation is nice but as an Ecuadorian that have lived in Ecuador for 23 years and in the search of home made Ecuadorian food in NYC I will say the food didn't meet my expectations.

YUM! This restaurant is super small. We stumbled across this restaurant after the wait to Anejo down the street was too long. When we went, it was actually about to close for a private party but they let us in with the condition that we are quickly and were out by 9. My friend and I both ordered the chicken with rice and it was delicious! The dish had a great mix of flavors, with sweet cranberries and semi spicy chicken. Decent sized portions as well and te food came out quick! The server ended up forgetting about us when the private party came along so we had to go to him to get our checks. They also ran out of paper to print our receipts so we had to pay in cash. Would come back again for the great food!

First time I tried to come here, we were denied bc they didn't have enough space (never trust opentable). Second time, I made the poor decision of ordering the ceviche mixto, which at $20 was a total waste of money. Too much olive oil-lime dressing made the whole thing inedible and I couldn't enjoy either the calamari or the shrimp. My friend had a mashed yucca dish with beef and loved it, so I really think I just selected incorrectly (the mashed yucca was very tasty). +1 for the banana chips and awesome service; Abel is really friendly and it seems like he takes the time to get to know regulars.

This place was awesome! The food was delicious and service was pleasant. I came here for a quick Sunday lunch and got the pollo con arroz, one friend got the chicken stew and the other got the shrimp and rice. The dishes were flavorful and the portions were plentiful, without being overwhelming. Further, each dish tasted unique. I will definitely be back!

So delicious! Never had Ecuadorian food before and now I will definitely have it again. The ceviche mixto and cazuela were fantastic - the right amount of food and taste without being too heavy. Also the dirty martini was perfectly dirty and had a nice helping of alcohol. On top of all this the customer service was amazing - they remembered our names and kept checking on us in a very polite, helpful, and friendly way.

Went with a group of co-workers. It's a small restaurant. Occupancy has to be 16 people. Great food. Wide selection of Ecuadorian food. Would like to see a wide selection of beers from Ecuador, but must say would definitely be back again soon.
