I work in the area so I had a few choices while looking for a pastrami on rye with matzoh ball soup. Naturally, I came on here to check which would be best and I am glad I did! While typing, I'm enjoying the pickles they threw in. Which, thanks, because I found it to be pricey. However, being a shiksa, I don't have much experience with this territory. Sandwich was delish! Piled high on rye, with great mustard. Soup was average and gotta love the good ole' Dr Brown's. Give it try !

I was in the area and decided I needed a couple of hotdogs and a sour pickle. I have not been to Regal in over 15 years and it has not changed at all. The hot dogs were good, As well as the pickle. Too me the place looks a little run down especially the outside. The service was fast and friendly and food was fine. The parking can be an issue as there is only one way to get into the parking lot and it is around the corner. I would go back again to try the pastrami as I remember it being great.

Good delicatessen food. We ordered several knishes, pastrami sandwiches, and other sides that were well made. The knishes were pretty good, but I'm not sure that it's the best deli food I've had. Can't speak for the matzoh ball soup. Would go again for the family-owned business, but you could probably find better food elsewhere.

Filthy outside and filthy inside with the delightful smell of something gone bad. I have no idea why the people in the area support this place when there are a 100 places to eat in the neighborhood. Is it because of the "signs" on the establishment? If that is the case find a Ben's. Much cleaner and better food.

You don't come here for the service or a fancy meal... You come for the basics. Really basic and decent matzoh ball soup. Decent pastrami on rye. In my opinion it is not better than Ben's but will suffice. I read all these amazing reviews but honestly does not deserve it. If you really really want amazing kosher go to the city or go to Bens.

Got a hankering for some Pastrami, a variety of knishes (storebought) but still yummy. Come visit this relic of Plainview. The service is not what keeps people coming here, but with a wide variety of jewish classics you will have a good lunch or dinner.

When I read these "expert Jewish Deli reviewers" I have to chuckle and then I see the guy is from Florida. He questions soda served in a can...which was probably Dr. Brown soda which is most always served in a can in Jewish Deli's. The mngmt recently renovated the restaurant and it looks comfortable and clean., The only remnants of the old was the ever present Giant Plant that looks like it could eat you like in the Little Shop of Horrors and the waitresses! We have damn few Kosher Deli's left in the area and Regal is one of the best., The sandwiches are served stuffed and accompanied by great cole slaw. The well done fries cooked to perfection and the Pea Soup a Thursday delight., So, call it what you will but dont knock the cooking!!!

Hubby brought home takeout, the turkey sandwich was good. The baked knish on the other hand was cold in the middle and tasted funky. It almost caused me to toss up my half of turkey sandwich.

As one of the few truly kosher restaurants around in Long Island, it's definitely a place that you would want to go to for nostalgia. The decor hasn't changed for as long as I can remember. It feels like the exact same way it was years and years ago. As for the food, it's decent. Not amazing and not terrible. Decent Kosher deli food. As for the price, it's high. I understand that it's very expensive to purchase kosher food, so I can't fault them for the prices. I will say however that it's not very sanitary in there it seems. Just an overall sense of uncleanliness. When you go and dine in, you'll see what I'm talking about. I enjoy knowing that the Regal Deli is around..... Just like it was years ago. Only thing now is it very badly needs huge facelift on many different levels.

The Regal Jewish Deli has been around since 1966. They just renovated the interior and it looks clean and brand new. The pastrami, corn beef, tongue knishes matzo balls everything is good at The Regal. So come down and check out this landmark deli for an old fashioned pastrami sandwich with cole slaw and Russian dressing on it.

Just had a hot corned beef sandwich on rye with cole slaw, pickles and Dr. Browns Cel-Ray soda. Mom had hers on club. Yum!

Over priced dried out pastrami for what $8 how's this place stay open? This is a rip off I was so so unhappy I was thinking of asking for a refund. To sum this place up I say. Next!

I make sure to come here whenever I visit from Atlanta. The place is small, but it is never busy so in all my years I've never had bad service. For a kosher deli the prices are very fair. My usual is EVERYONE'S complementary coleslaw, the split pea soup (the favorite soup in the world), and the Specials hot dog -- grilled with a side of beans and fries. Every single time I come here it just feels... perfect.

Neither the decor or the waitresses seem to have changed since the 1960's....however the food is fantastc! My only advice is not to go during off hours (aka 2-5 PM) as the staff is low and the food comes out slow. Otherwise this is a great kosher deli that feels (especially since it's never been renovated) like the ones I grew up with. The prices are excellent--and not expensive for kosher. It is NOT Glatt and is open on Shabbat but they do have heschacha. I do see some orthodox Jews eating there. Great quality-huge portions and fair prices make for a great landmark.

It's almost a sin that Sunday was my first trip to Regal considering I've lived down the block from here for 20 years (I'm a bad Jew I guess). The reason I came here is because I really wanted to try tongue and this was the closest place to serve it. The place is really small, but besides my girlfriend and I there were only 2 other couples so wasn't difficult to get a table. They gave us a tin of delicious pickles (6 total) along with cole slaw for each of us (score). I ordered a tongue sandwich on a garlic club along with a potato latke (probably spelt it wrong..again a bad Jew). Both were really good. Probably one of the few places around where you can get a Dr. Brown's black cherry soda which is fantastic. I will definitely be back again soon (will likely try something else so I can compare it to Boomy's).

With places around the area like Ben's Kosher deli it's hard to go anywhere else...that is until I discovered Regal Kosher Deli. The restaurant is quite simple, nothing too fancy and big, with some tables and chairs to sit in if you feel like staying there. I am in love with their pickles, they are not too sour, pickled just right. Of course I get the pastrami sandwich with just a touch of mustard, it's so good I usually get two, one to eat at the time and one to save for later. Last time my mom ate the entire thing on me! She said she intended on taking just one bite and couldn't stop..it was so delicious she had to finish it. The Pastrami meat melts in your mouth and their mustard is quite delicious it gives it a little kick. The Regal is definitely a hidden gem of Plainview.

Classic, as good and authentic as it gets Jewish Deli. The hot dogs have the right amount of snap. The knishes come in square or round and either way you aren't being disappointed. The briskit and pastrami sandwiches are piled high, fresh and delicious. The coleslaw and pickles that come out as an appetizer are perfect. I personally love the sour pickles. If you ever find yourself in the are, go in and eat.

Expensive and not that good. I've have much better for less. We got two sandwiches and it cost more than $20. Sure they put a bunch of meat on the sandwich, but that doesn't make it good or worth the cost. Maybe got them on an off day, but with so many delis around to pick from, why would I ever go back?

I think this is probably the Kosher deli in the area. It could use some renovations but that doesn't stop me from eating the food there. I have never been dissatisfied with the food. Sure, you can go into the city and find better choices but what's the point of comparing Regal to a deli in the city, you are in Plainview. For a good Kosher deli in Plainview, this is the only choice that I am aware of.

A Plainview institution - which is saying a *lot* these days, as there's very little left of what Plainview once was. Regal was around when there were still movie theatres in Plainview! Imagine that! There's a reason for it: the cuisine is delicious and of COURSE they had to cater every Passover Seder my family ever had.

The worst, save your money. Zero quality. It is very sad that one must go to Manhattan to eat quality deli. If Katz deli is a 10 then the Regal Deli is a 1. Sorry to hurt local business, but it's true.

This place is one of the few businesses that was in Plainview when my family moved there in 1973 that is still there today. With the same waitresses last time I checked. Ben's schmens! This place is the real deal. When I was a kid I would walk past this place every day on my way home from school. I loved stopping in for a hot dog and a square.

Made another trip to the regal with a large party and I was a bit disapointed. Soup was beyond saly and tasted like it was canned or made by Lipton. Very disapointing. My corned beef was nice but another sandwich on the table was dry as a bone. Seems things a somewhat inconsistent here. The fries were fresh and delicous. I'm not sure what to make of this. Maybe I,ll return maybe I won't. Looks like things are somewhat hot or miss here. Maybe bens in woodbury is a better option.
