Everyone who has told us this place is a gem in the rocks, they are right. Who would have thought such a great place would be in the middle of a strip mall in Chester, NY. My BF and I came her a couple of weeks ago for something quick to eat. It was about 7:30 at night (on a Saturday) so we didn't think it was going to be a problem getting in...wrong. We had to wait for almost an hour to get seated...that was how packed the place is. The place itself nothing to outstanding - the decor is nice but average, but the food defiantly above average. We started off with the cheddar grits with shrimp. Honestly, I really didn't want it, but I knew my BF did so I agreed to ordering it. I took one bite to show that I was being a "team player" and was hooked. I wasn't a fan of the sausage, but I really like the cheddar grits and shrimp. It has such a bright bold flavor, I kept digging my fork in for more. For dinner I had the apple and brie sandwich with fries on the side. Another delicious dish. Even though I was stuffed half way into my meal, I forced myself to finish my plate, fries and everything. I can't wait to come back and try some of the other options they have on the menu!

Went last nite, (2) couples...First, the service was tremendous... Finished a drink or a club soda, and it was replaced... And the food service as well, was great... The lamb chop lollipops were flippin great, as were the scallops with bacon appetizers... I was in the mood for a burger and it too was delicious, medium just as I'd asked for ... With thin crispy unions and bbq sauce... I'd go back tonite, as it was an enjoyable meal overall... I've been in Vegas for the last 10 days so eating out was not high on my list now that I'm home, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised about the food... Atmosphere, fair... it is a local place, that it gets a "4" from me... with the potential for more and it is a trendy place for locals who are starving for decent places here... It is Smallish, and a little noisy, but I'll overlook that for the food!, as what the do serve is very tasty....The menu is a little eclectic (ok, a little odd), closer to extended bar food (I saw wings go past to another table and they looked good), then burgers and sandwiches... More than I'd expect on a dinner menu at a more "upscale" place, BUT they also some nicer dishes including scallops and shrimp and a Fra Diavalo sea food that I'll have to try... But did I mention the lamb chop lollipops and bacon scallops? :-). I tend to go back to places and get the same things... And these two appetizers will be on that "go here for" list. Overall, we'll go back soon, as we liked it!

The gourmet burger was great. Just the right amount of food to fill you up but not too much that you will be in a food coma. The alcohol is a little pricey but what do I know, I barely drink. I had the peach sangria which was the least expensive at $8. The atmosphere is quite nice. I would definitely come back again.

A gem we stumbled on while looking to burn time in Chester... ya - who burns time in Chester? Anyway, very glad we stuck our heads in. The atmosphere is casual with a solid beer list. Live music some nights from what I could tell (we were there for a Thursday night live jazz... and I like a good bass strumming. The burgers are huge with a solid layer of quality toppings and very good fries. My tacos were on point as well. From the crowd and waiting line, you can tell they are known in the community for quality.

Fantastic food and good portions. Awesome beer menu (get the flight of beer). Service was very good. Very attentive. They have food options perfect for a romantic date but also for a birthday celebration.

My friends and I have recently started a Salad Club and were looking to get together for healthy dinner. We chose Christopher's after looking at the menu on line (lists some nice salad varieties) and found that it was open on Monday nights. We started with the an appetizer special - Ahi Tuna Tacos and they were delicious! The only complaints were about the horseradish - but that was from the couple that didn't like spicy. For the rest - they were excellent. We all ordered salads - and each one was perfect! The serving size was just right, the greens nice and fresh and the dressings were not over done and everyone loved their meals. The service was impeccable! Friendly and attentive - our glasses were replaced with fresh full ones as the started to become empty. They made an awesome first impression on us as the food was delicious, the staff was friendly and the prices were right! We will definitely be back!

Don't let this strip mall location fool you! This place is great! Everything was delicious! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They have a little bit of everything- lamb, duck, pasta, wings, burgers, salads, you name it! I loved my French Onion Soup and side salad. Perfect meal after a day of apple picking! My friends raved about the lamb lollipops. I don't do lamb so I couldn't tell ya, but they all liked it! Burgers and fries were good too. We really loved the draft beer selection and the service was super friendly and helpful!

We stumbled upon Christopher's when dropping our oldest son off at West Point. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the front (it's in a strip mall in a small NY town), but we were wonderfully surprised with the atmosphere once we went in! The staff was awesome, they really knew their menu and offered beverage pairings. My very picker of an eater younger son ordered the NY strip and he STILL won't stop talking about it (3 months later - hence this Yelp review). It was the best steak he had ever had he recently went to Walt Disney World and ate at one of their hard to get into fine dining establishments which couldn't even compare to the one he ate at Christopher's. My burger was ah-mazing by the way. Let's just say this, I might consider staying in Chester, NY again just to eat at Christopher's Bistro. Yah, it's that good.

Love the design inside and the chef is spot on! The service is great . The restaurant seems more for adults but actually we take our special needs daughter and we all feel so comfortable there she enjoys it there too. Great job

I like the calamari and other appetizers. Most dinners here have been mediocre. My last dish of seafood scampi was flavorless and watered down. I recommend this place for appetizers and not dinner.

I realized I only write reviews when I dislike a place so I figured I would highlight my favorite places for once. Christopher's is amazing! The service is always on point. Very friendly wait staff, hostess and bartenders. When you call to make a reservation they always ask if it's for a special occasion. And I recommend making a reservation because it's always busy. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. I recommend the apple and brie panini, the calamari, the burgers are amazing, the salmon is amazing and the appetizers are so good. You will not be disappointed when you go there! The prices are also reasonable. I see some people think it's expensive but when you get great quality you should be happy to pay for a great meal. Not every place you go to in Manhattan has great food but you pay an arm and a leg.

  • Chris W.

The food is extremely good but holy hell is it expensive for this area. Also, the owner/manger would not come to my table when I asked them to after I saw them in the restaurant. Who knows. Even though I love the food I don't go there a lot because I like nice people and I wait until I get into Manhattan to pay prices like that.

Similar to the other reviews, I would not have given Christopher's a second look while driving by. A decent restaurant in a strip mall?? Absolutely! We chose Christopher's after looking at the poor Yelp reviews for Barnsider and deciding to search another option. We went to a performance at Sugar Loaf Performing Arts center and wanted dinner after somewhere close. We ordered calamari as an appetizer... very good and crispy. The menu stated Fra Diavlo sauce, but it really wasn't spicy. Good though. I ordered the pan seared duck breast with apple-marscapone risotto. Awesome. The risotto was cooked perfectly and the addition of apple and marscapone was very interesting. My husband ordered the pork medallion special and it was also very good. My kids ordered the chimichurri burger and warm goat cheese salad respectively, and were both happy. The restaurant is rather small, so I would suggest reservations, especially on the weekend. The service, btw... is top notch. Our waitress made sure we had everything we needed at all times, and so did the other waitresses who had nothing to do with our table. Super friendly! Definitely a place I would go back to.

This is one of those places where you just can't judge the book by it's cover. The place looks so ordinary, you almost don't see it. Like an invisible restaurant only seen by those with special foodie glasses? In a strip mall? Incongruent is what I say. Even inside is nice, but kinda ho hum. I had the bean burger. YUMMMMer. The patty is breaded and deep fried. I know, it basically takes all the healthy out of it, but it adds in a bunch of magical wonderfulness. Yes. I said magical. I tried to even out the score for healthy with a side of vegetables... which where really yummy. No over cooked who cares about broccoli preparation here. Hell yes, let the broccoli sing. So if you are in the neighborhood picking up some raw milk or tracker parts stop on by. You will not be disappointed.

I'm originally from Warwick and it is known that the food around Orange County is not that great. Who would have thought that Christopher's Bistro would be so good and in Chester of all places? The food was great, there are a ton of options to choose from (vegetarian options too), the staff was friendly and fast, and the prices were decent considering the great quality of food. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I will absolutely be back.

Visited on a friday night (reservations recommended) to use a gift certificate we were given. Much louder than expected for 7:00, but it got quieter as the night went on...quite the group of people hanging out by the bar. Ordered the lamb lollipops, filet with gorgonzola crust, and cajun shrimp and andouille sausage with black fettuccine. At some point, the waiter came out and said there was a mistake with our order and would it be ok if the appetizer came out with the entrees. We said fine, it didn't make that much of a difference to us. Everything came out maybe 5 minutes later. Lamb was delicious, but my husband's filet was overcooked (well done instead of medium). The waiter noticed after my husband started eating that the steak was the wrong color and let the manager know. He came over and offered to cook another one. Also offered to refire my entree, but I kept mine. They brought out a one bite taster for my husband to try while he was waiting. .. some crostini with pear, squash, and pine nuts that my husband said had a finish like cake. The filet came back out perfectly cooked. Had some creme brulee (bigger than expected) for dessert and my husband had the Manuary (belgium tripel) from local brewery Rushing Duck with dinner. We are definitely coming back based on unexpected service we received and to try everything else on the menu.

I'm usually too busy (lazy) to submit reviews but I feel compelled to say something about this awesome little bistro. After living in the area for 10 years, this was our first visit to Christopher's. Even though the ratings on Yelp! were high, we kept our expectations in check. After all, this is a small strip mall in Chester NY. It's safe to say that Christopher's exceeded our expectations in every respect. The service was attentive and very friendly without being over-bearing or annoying. The drink menu was creative and not overpriced, and the bottled wine is especially priced very fairly. The food menu selection was varied and had something for everyone at all price ranges. The atmosphere was casual yet classy - not too noisy and not too quiet. I had a rib-eye special and my wife had a shrimp and scallop dish, both cooked to perfection. We will be back here every chance we get. Highly recommended.

Really good food. I loved their penne. My boyfriend got the daily street tacos and they were awesome. Finished off the night with the coffee heath bar bailey's dessert but next time I will tell them to hold the bailey's.

Stopped in for dessert based on Yelp reviews. Will return for dinner! Well-executed desserts. Ordered 4 (1 per person). I would say that 1 of the 4 (the cobbler) was spectacular and memorable, the rest were of high quality, but not necessarily memorable. I think I had some sort of coffee toffee mousse? My brother ordered the brownie sundae, my mother ordered the cobbler, and my father had the creme brulee. Portion sizes were decent (that is, not the kind of massively oversized mess you'd find at a chain...) The waitress was attentive, timely, and friendly. I look forward to dinner at Christopher's in the near future and will update accordingly!

As many reviewers have noted, who would think this place would be as amazing as it is! In a strip mall next to a McDonald's...never would have thought. Super busy on a Monday, staff was friendly and allowed us to wait at the bar. Great selection of beer on tap and bartender was very knowledgable. You can tell they aren't just jumping on the craft beer bandwagon. They actually care about what beers they put up. Party of three, we started with the cheeseboard and spinach artichoke dip. Cheese was fresh and a good sampling the blueberry covered Brie was a standout. Dip was excellent--hot and not too salty with good amount of artichokes. Definitely homemade. I got the pork shoulder which was cooked perfectly and fork tender. Homemade bbq sauce was on point. Served with excellent cole slaw and absolutely killer hush puppies. Friend on left got duck--excellent and cooked to perfection. Served with a delicious apple risotto. Friend on right got the strip steak, again cooked to perfection with a nice herbed butter. The meal was truly 5 star worthy. I really wasn't expecting much but was happily blown away. Can't wait to be back! Will be making a reservation next time.

Been here once before lunch and have been dying to come try the dinner menu. So me and my boyfriend made it back and it was amazing! Service was great, waitress was on top of everything. My salmon was probably the best I've ever had and they give you a good size portion. My boyfriend loved his steak and everything was just so delicious! I definitely recommend this place to try at least once! I'll be back to try more items or have more of that yummy salmon. Also reservations are recommended as they get packed pretty quick.

Without a doubt, this HAS to be the BEST restaurant located anywhere north of NYC. I am very picky when it comes to food, drink, ambiance and especially service. Service: Outstanding. They make you feel like a king or queen. I had a few people helping out at our table of 4, and each one was friendly and inquiring how we were without that annoying 'lurking' effect many restaurants are known for. Awesome staff! Beer: First of all, like one commenter said, yes there is a beer store close by, but who wants to grab a 12 pack of Budweiser or Heineken when you can get a rotating craft beer? Since this is my first experience and beer was the only drink I had, I will be adding more to this list since I will be returning. I had an IPA from the Bronx --- DELICIOUS. Food: I had the crab cakes. Let me just say that my dad used to own part of the South Street Seaport - I was born and raised on homemade seafood. This was beyond anything I've ever had in a restaurant. When I complimented the waitress, she said that everything was made from scratch. Nothing like homemade crab cakes. I also had little neck steamers. Usually, most restaurants make them tough and chewy. These just melted in your mouth and had such an 'ocean flavor' to them. To. die. for. Their calamari? --- Can I just say -- these people GOT IT RIGHT! There is a special way of cooking calamari to which NO restaurant that I know around this area at least, knows how to do. They also melted in your mouth with a light battering to them. They were cooked to perfection. I even enjoyed their spicy buffalo wings. (Yes we had a huge table of appetizers floating around.) These wings were the BEST ever. And may I add, they were huge! The second time I went there, I had the cajun frog legs. LET me just SAY that nobody -- NOBODY can make frog legs right, no less have them in stock! The BEST I have ever had! OMG! Lastly, their burgers ---- GRASS FED, 80/20 for those who are on the Paleo or "cleaning eating" lifestyle. I never order it medium rare --- this time, WOW. This place is just unreal. Ambience: Elegant, bistro-ish with a hint of a "pub-ish" feel to it, enough to make you feel like staying there way past your bedtime! The bar is amazing. Must have been cherry wood - but it extended from the front door to almost the back of the place. The chairs are super comfy, no cheap stools. I always prefer to sit at a bar with comfortable seating. Makes all the difference. The interior of the entire place/restaurant was very cozy, wasn't overcrowding and inviting. Price: A bit on the expensive side, but SO worth it. If you're going to spend your money on food and drink -- this is the place to invest in your cravings. It's more continental/American with a little edge to it. I'm making this place my regular stop. I haven't had such a great experience like this in a very long time. I have been to NYC restaurants, to restaurants out on the ocean, like the Hamptons and Boston area --- this just bypasses all. I'm just grateful someone decided to put a touch of class to their restaurant. Bravo! I will spread the word for sure.

Been here about a dozen times. Do not be fooled by the location in a strip mall in Chester (of all places!) Chef is CIA trained and the food shows this. The lamb chop lollipops are to die for! Food is always consistent which is truly key for any restaurant! Service is courteous.

I stopped into Christopher's for lunch with some co-workers. I read the yelp reviews before we sat down, and expected a really good meal. My house burger was good, but it wasn't spectacular. Neither was the dressing on the salad, I found it just a little too acidic. Nonetheless, I ate both. My biggest complaint about Christopher's is the lack of options on their lunch menu. There was a great selection of burgers, and one or two chicken sandwiches, but that was really it. For a seasonal menu, especially during the summer, I just expected a little more.

My daughters play softball close by Christopher's Bistro throughout the year. We usually grab local fast food but this time I found Christopher's on Yelp and agree with all the positive reviews. I would have never stopped there if I drove by but was happy we did. Girls working there were very nice and really attentive without being overwhelming. My husband asked the owner if he could put on the Ranger game and he did immediately. Food was really good especially the Winter salad, homemade chips were a huge hit and wings were great. Definitely a hidden surprise in the area and very reasonable. Will definitely be back.

Service is always solid here but feel like food has gone downhill. Two years ago I had a great meal here, last 2 trips were very underwhelming. The food was mediocre and plating was amateurish compared to first trip. Plus having that side/back door opening and closing reminds me I'm in a strip mall.

  • Manny M.

Great place. Some of the reviewers are right...it really makes you forget your in a strip mall. The inside is dark but very pleasant and the bar is very nice. The staff were extremely nice and the food was awesome. I had the steak medium and it was really really good. I also loved that they had a Rushingduck and Longtrail options for beer. Just an added benefit. I recommend coming here if your near Chester.

A hidden gem. Great food, great menu, great beer, great service. The staff is very educated on their micro beer selection and are more than happy to bring samples to ensure you get a brew to your liking. Be sure you try a few! The food is excellent. I regularly get the chicken Caesar salad, the baked buffalo wings or one of their gourmet burgers, all high quality. Even when I stray from the standbys, I have yet to get a less than stellar meal. Call ahead for a table on weekends.

Holy cow the food here is good. My fiance and I invited our parents here to celebrate our engagement on a Sunday night. This place is truly hidden in plain sight. Giving it a try was one of the best dining ideas I have ever had. What a pay off. I see that people have noted the lack of menu items as a problem. That is an insult to the chef, who happens to be brilliant. Trust in his vision and he won't do you wrong! The atmosphere they create there is great - low lights, not too much noise. A great place to sit down with a group of any size and have a brilliantly prepared dinner without any hitch. Service was fantastic, the beer selection was out of this world. In a small town like Chester - this place is truly a real find. Only had one complaint - I had to leave!

  • Jordan R.

Excellent! I'm from Rhode Island and was just driving through, I have to say that I'm absolutely pleased with my decision to stop here! The service was excellent, waiters/waitresses were super attentive but not in a bad way, just perfect. My girlfriend and I had a Caesar salad, Lamb Mac and Cheese, and classic penne ala vodka. I have to say that the salad was the best Caesar salad I've ever had, the penne ala vodka was also excellent, although the lamb tasted alright I believe that was all me; kinda have to be in the mood for lamb! The prices are what you would expect of a nice restaurant. although, it's very nice that they offer half portion sizes for half the price; that's what we got... we still had leftovers. All In all, if I were ever I'm the area, I would definitely go back there.

The place looked nice when we went in, a little noisy but we decided to stay and have a few drinks before having dinner. The first issue that occurred was when we decided to try the beer sampler, which I believe would have been $14.00 each - but were told they didn't have enough glasses to serve us the samplers. OK, we decided to just wing it and both had craft drafts which were okay. However, as we sat there I noticed the bartender pulling a draft and scratching something off of the side of the glass, now, i'm not sure if it was dirt, ice, lipstick or what have you, but it completely puzzled me that he wouldn't just get a fresh glass...this really turned me off. Needless, to say, we finished our drinks and left without dinner. We definitely will not be returning.

I live in the City and am accustomed to more attention to aesthetics and location than you will find at Christopher's in the strip mall, but that should not deter you. As others have said here, the quality of the food and service far surpasses the location. My hosts and server was incredibly knowledgable of the beer selections as well as the food options, and they were passionate about the menu. After a lot of deliberation, I chose the warm goat cheese salad and the Tuscan burger. I'm a sucker for a great burger, and my server told me that I would not be disappointed. My readers know that I have a fairly high standard when it comes to burgers, and this one exceeded it and was perhaps my favorite burger of 2013. It had that backyard chargrilled taste, served on a ciabatta bun, with sundried tomato spread. Accompanying it was thin straw size sweet potato fries that were exactly the consistency of McDonald's fries, but sweet potato instead. The salad was beautiful and so delicious that I had to eat every bite of the arugula, pears, apples, pecans and warm goat cheese. The prices are reasonable, and the food really is outstanding. I'm glad I found Christopher's on my trip to Chester.

We go 2-3 times a month and we are always pleased with the service, the food and the atmosphere. Dani, a hostess, greets us warmly and sees to our every want and need. Prices are reasonable, the specials are spot-on, and we leave with a smile.

Best onion soup in the world! The cheese was perfect. I've been there for both lunch and dinner, I like the lunch portion better because I can never finish a dinner portion, they are nice enough to have guests select either lunch or dinner portion (for pastas). Fried calamari is good, all the pastas are good, wonderful fillet tip sandwich and duck for lunch.

Great food! A very nice bar area with a great selection of beer. The menu was very diverse and food was cooked perfectly. Portion sizing was strong and service was fast, friendly, and attentive. A hidden gem in Chester and well worth a visit!

What a weird location for a nice bistro. This place is in a small strip mall next to a McDonald's. The location certainly doesn't scream "upscale", but thats what they're trying to do here. Wait service was friendly and efficient, and it looks like they have been working hard since they opened in January to build a stable client base. Their beer menu is great, especially for up here; it does help when you have a great beer store supplying you down the block though. I had a Dogfish Head 60min and another ale. The 60min is one of my favorite beers so of course that was fine, but the other ale was weak at best, Oh well, I should've went with the Defiant Ale from Pearl River which I've been meaning to try. The steamed clams we had to start were good, albeit a bit small for the price point. They were nice and tender with a tasty broth, but the portion was flat small. The tostadas we got were a joke, as they were basically 4 tortilla chips topped with decent quality ingredients--again, small portion and overpriced. For my main I got the seared chicken, which came stuffed with pancetta, fontina, and spinach, was in a brown gravy sauce, and came with parmigiana risotto and roasted root vegetables. The result was good but not great. The chicken was good quality meat, but they dried it out a bit. They also used barely any stuffing in it, which is a shame because what little I did get I enjoyed. The risotto and veggies were both great in terms of flavor, but since the chicken was the main attraction, I consider them largely irrelevant. Another thing that bugged me is that they mixed everything together to make the dish look fancy, which is a pet peeve of mine as it causes the sauce to mix in with the sides. My family's experiences were very similar . There were elements of everyone's respective dishes that were great, and everything was good, but we did expect much more. Their price point is rough for this area, but I do hope that Christopher's sticks around. They are working hard and still very much figuring things out, which is a lot more than I could say for some other nearby upscale restaurants in Goshen. I'll be back to try their burgers, which looked very good, and I hope they step their game up to where it should be.

In the 2 years that I've lived in Chester, I've been looking for a place like this!!! Amazing craft beers and delicious bistro-style food! I LOVE their seasonal salads...the harvest salad is my new favorite! I recently celebrated my birthday at Christopher's and the amazing staff and hard-working owners made sure that my night was perfect! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

My husband and I eat here frequently. We really haven't had a disappointing experience yet. The service is always good and the food is delicious. Try the macaroni and cheese with lamb, it has a hint of truffle oil - om nom nom.

I was lurking on Yelp one afternoon and noticed another blogger with tastes seemingly similar to my own offering a few postings that looked inviting to other places in the Warwick/Chester/Goshen vicinity. It jogged my memory and reminded me that I had never been to Christopher's Bistro in Chester. I want to thank that blogger - Christopher's Bistro is a welcomed addition. For some reason I find it fitting that a Bistro serving eclectic food is next door to a 'kosher-style' deli at a strip mall in Chester. The reason I'm OK with this is that the menu at Christopher's reminds me of the iconic Blue Ribbon restaurant in Greenwich Village, NY. When Blue Ribbon was opened by the Bromberg Brothers, the only way to look at the menu and make sense of it was to know these two guys were Jewish (matzo ball soup & pierogie), loved Chinese food (wontons, pu-pu platter), and went to school in New Orleans (oysters, remoulade sauce). Blue Ribbon became 'the' place that chefs and cooks went to eat after they were done working in their own kitchens. The diverse menu and attention to service and details are what made Blue Ribbon into a growing success. Christopher's is sprinkled with some of the same magic. When you walk into Christopher's, you'll likely notice two things at first: 1.) The average age of the 6pm dinner crowd is considerably older, 2.) The place looks drab. While appearances are often deceiving, the menu and service should make up for any apprehensions you may have. Christopher's Bistro is open for lunch & dinner six days (closed on Tuesday) with slight variations between the two. Bistro is a French word, and yet, Christopher's offers an assortment of choices that touch the Mediterranean (hummus dip, pastas), Asia (soy-ginger marinade, Szechuan rub), New Orleans (gumbo), and Americana (chicken wings, burgers). All the beef steaks and burgers are made from the superior quality Hereford cows. Frankly, there is very little French going on here, with one exception - a well trained staff. It's typical to have young, college-aged, people as servers/waiters, but it's something else when they know what they are doing. For instance, silverware was changed and corrected for each course. Huh? A spoon is brought out after ordering the Shrimp & Grits and/or Gumbo, not as an after thought once the bowl is served; the same thing happens when a steak knife and new fork are provided after the appetizer course is cleared and long before the actual steak arrives. This is good training. It's impressive. It would be my pleasure to wax nostalgic about the menu at Christopher's, but with the exception of the Duck Cheesecake Sandwich (reminiscent of the Alligator Cheescake at Jacques-Imo's in New Orleans), there is nothing on the menu that needs my poor writing skills to help you understand what's being served. OK, maybe I should let you know that the Fried Chicken is just a breast, but it's lathered in a reasonable amount of bacon gravy served with a biscuit and mashed potatoes. And if I'm willing to complain about other places that use too much garlic in the sautéed vegetables, I should let you know that the perfectly crisp mélange of carrots, broccoli, and asparagus might be better served just plain or with butter. Oh, the 'french' fried potatoes were a but disappointing. Do not let the location, the décor, and/or the age of the early dinner crowd fool you, Christopher's Bistro has a well-trained staff that has a menu of well prepared food with something for everyone and from just about any place. I'm only sorry it took me so long to tell you about a menu that touches on Europe, Asia, and America - just like any Blue Ribbon, Christopher's is an award winner.

Start with the staff. The friendly faces when you walk in the door. The great recommendations if you're not certain. Move behind the bar for a perfect pour and an excellently mixed cocktail. Every-changing beers on tap, and always something interesting. Start with the salad... and the home made dressings, the fried goat cheese or the fresh ingredients. Up for a burger? Gourmet and mind-boggling. The wings are addicting. Something a little more traditional instead? Fantastic pasta with killer sauces, fish and steaks perfectly cooked and seasoned, and sides that are seasonal. Something a little different? Varying creative and fusion dishes come out as specials, and sometimes wind up on the menu for good. Afraid of getting bored? The menu changes every season. Oh, and did I mention the desserts? Go. Go now. Go often. Go with your date or your spouse. Go with your kids or your parents. Just go. You'll be hooked the first time out.

Three words....duck philly cheesecake. So different! This place has a very cool menu. Different and diverse. My husband had the gumbo and was very pleased. They offer a full portion and half portion (which is still large!) on most dishes, which is a nice change. The coconut shrimp should not be passed up! We also ordered the local beer sampler, which is always fun. This place is definitely worth a try!!

My wife and I tried Christopher's for the first time today. The service is friendly and efficient but the star was the great burgers. I had a Tuscan burger that was served on a crisp ciabatta bread bun, with pancetta, sun dried tomato tapenade, and asiago cheese----one of the best burgers I have had anywhere. My wife enjoyed the gourmet burger. Christopher's is 20+ miles from where we live but certainly worth the drive.

Delicious burgers-- don't let the bizarre strip mall location deter you.

a great addition to Chester. Great Bistro food and reasonable pWhat rices. Stopped in to see this new place and ordered some take out. Employees were friendly and attentive. This is a beautiful cozy, warm space with a full length bar running down the left side. Ordered Crispy Tostadas with chicken, salsa, sour cream & guacamole. This was not the typical rolled and deep fried beyond recognition mess usually offered. These (2) were served open faced on crispy, light shells with the freshest ingredients carefully chopped and presented. Chunks of chicken layered if salsa and drizzled with sour cream. A winner. Next up 2 sandwiches. First - Apple, spinach and Brie Panni with roasted garlic aioli. A buttery decadent sandwich oozing of tangy Brie and thinly sliced apple. The apple takes a back seat in this sandwich as the Brie (double cream?) is the the leading flavor with the roasted garlic right behind it. Roasting the garlic really mellowed it, matching the Brie perfectly. Another winner. Now - what i'm going to call currently the best sandwich in Chester. Their Southwest Chicken Panni with spicy chicken, salsa and sliced avocado. First off, it's not what I would call spicy, it's flavorful in a Mesa Grill way. Chicken breast, seasoned, grilled, moist and covered in freshly made salsa and ripe avocado. I did't want to put this down, it's that good. Both sandwiches were ordered with Yam fries that were also made fresh and sprinkled with sea salt. This Bistro has instantly become a hit with me. I can see myself even coming in to sit at the bar, as they have a bar menu (eating at the bar in encouraged) and they have a few premium beers on draft including Dogfish. Welcome to Chester Christopher's bistro, we have been waiting for you.

Chester's first and only truly excellent restaurant. It's not possible to have a bad meal at Christopher's Bistro. Tonight's Blackened Sea Bass special was absolutely delicious. Thanks Chris for giving us a great local place to eat.

Had dinner here with family a few weeks back. The atmosphere is elegant, yet inviting. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. Both the choices of entrees and portions are noteworthy. It was an affordable locale for a special evening. The quality/ freshness of the food will definitely have me coming back!

Christopher's Bistro is a surprisingly good restaurant. It is a found at the end of a strip mall, steps away from a McDonald's, so one doesn't necessary think great food, good atmosphere and amazing service when you first notice it driving past. Once inside though, you are in for a treat. Everyone who works at Christopher's is exceptionally nice and friendly, and most importantly: attentive! I don't think my beverage glass stayed empty for longer than a minute the entire time my wife and I were there. The menu had a lot of different and interesting choices, not the standard fare - interesting pastas, entrees, burgers, sandwiches, etc. The highlight of the evening for me was the Buffalo Wings - probably some of the best I have ever had. No description can do them justice, you just need to go in and try them. I know I will be back for them again soon (and as often as I can)! My wife and I each tried a different burger, the chimichurri and the BBQ burgers. Both very good, with a lot of flavor and the fries were perfect! Finally, we tried their dessert "special" - a brownie sundae. I have had a lot of brownie sundaes over the years, this one wasn't anything earth shattering, but still very tasty and the perfect end to the meal. I wouldn't mind if they put the brownie sundae on the standard dessert menu, I would get it again. I don't write reviews often, but Christopher's is a pleasant surprise in an area with few surprises and I hope they stick around a good long time.

Wonderful dinners - scallops and warm goat cheese salad- nice, small, quiet atmosphere. Terrific selection of beers. Flight of 9 drafts, some local, very interesting and tasty.

Excellent Food and Service I have been to Christopher's several times and have always enjoyed my meal. On my last visit I had the Southwest Chicken Panini. The chicken was very juicy and seasoned well. The sandwich was excellent and I always enjoy the homemade chips that come with it. My friend said her chicken sandwich (Mike's Tangy Grilled Chicken) was the best chicken sandwich she has ever had. The service here is excellent. The waitresses are always very friendly and take great care of you. The only complaints I have are about the restaurant itself; it's always too cold and the acoustics are kind of rough so it can get very loud. All in all though, this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area!

It's nice to find a gem like this in your backyard. The food and service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. We ate at the bar and the bartender was great. The wings were outstanding and the country fried chicken with biscuits and gravy were awesome. My friends had the short ribs and a filet and both were very pleased. Also a huge beer selection.

Came in here after an apple picking trip with the wife, baby, and mother....we all loved it. First off, the cheese board is a great value...soooo much cheese for the price, and they were GOOD cheeses too, yum. I had the duck cheesesteak, super delicious. Wife had the chimichurri burger...excellent quality beef, perfectly cooked and the bun was awesome(Ciabatta I believe). I can't remember exactly what my mom had, some sort of shrimp gumbo that was a special, but I do remember her loving it. Great food, great service, I'll come back.

I decided to check out Christopher's while I was on a work trip. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place, and don't let the fact that it's located in a strip mall discourage you. I ordered Christopher's Seared Chicken Breast with pancetta, spinach and asiago served in a marsala wine demi-glace with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables....$19.50 for dinner, and I was not disappointed. I think the mashed potatoes were the typical instant make, but the entree overall was delicious. I also ordered a flight of their craft beers, which is partly why I wanted to check out Christopher's in the first place. The flight is 9, 3 oz. Glasses at $14.00. The hostess and waitress were friendly and made sure I had everything I needed.

Excellent all around. The waitstaff is exceptional, no one standing around doing nothing. They pay the perfect amount of attention, the bartender came over to clear our table when we were finished with our meal. The food was excellent. We had the potato gnocchi with pancetta as an appetizer, it was phenomenal. My NY strip was served exactly as I asked and the vegetables were perfectly steamed with a nice crisp bite. The only knock I have is with their draft beers. Something is wrong with the draft system because all seven taps were pouring out over 4" of head. Either they have the regulator to high or the kegs aren't be kept between 38-40°. We started the night with Southern Tier Pumpkin Ale but quickly changed to bottled Sam Adams. Just keep an eye on the pours before you order a draft. Hopefully it will be rectified soon. Otherwise a perfect local place and I'm definitely coming back to try the burgers!
