Just had a great breakfast at The Bean Runner . I love a nice local coffee place and I highly recommend this little out of the way coffee shop, not too crowded and yummy coffee ,

Relaxed and cosy. A great spot to hang out and the staff is great.

Lovely little place for Coffee and a nice venue for artists to come play at, the food however is another story. The orders came out sporadically and the food was a bit sub-par apart from a fluffy Belgian Waffle. When I asked for a jelly or fruit topping for my waffle they went in back where I saw the Woman grab a smuckers jar and proceed to place a small bit in a plastic tub for me. Thanks... Coffee over Food here.

The Bean Runner differs from its Peekskill Coffee House competitor in that in addition to serving coffee, pastries, and cake, they also serve soups, salads, and sandwiches. I've had the coffee at both the Bean Runner and the Peekskill Coffee House and I find the coffee (and variety of coffee served as well) to be much better and tastier at TPCH. I've also tried the cookies and cake a few times at Bean Runner and I didn't think they were good - the desserts taste heavily processed or like they're the frozen variety. I must say though, that the service at the Bean Runner is consistently friendly and that when you order food, they will gladly bring it out to your table (and I've gone with quite a large group before, so I really appreciate this). The soups, salads, and sandwiches are reasonably priced. I'll normally get a salad and always find it satisfying. As for atmosphere, the Bean Runner has always been on the quiet side when I've gone in, so it's a good place to carry on a conversation. The decorations are a little sparse, and there are 2 big armchairs in back. There's something about the coffee-house vibe that's missing, but I think that the place is well-maintained.

You step inside Bean Runner to be "greeted" by staff who appear to be on Xanax and can't be bothered acknowleding you. Skimpy dessert menu and so-so coffee. I'll go back to Peekskill Coffee any day over this place. I am tired of coming across establishments that can't seem to figure out who they are trying to cater to. Are you a restaurant? A coffee spot? Reservations? I have to pay to come in if there's live music playing? No, no and no. My one and only experience here was simply god-awful.
(1)Jen F.
Good coffee. Good desserts. Its a nice change from Starbucks every once in a while! And you can actually order sandwiches, soups, and salads. I had chicken noodle soup and a salad which was delicious. It's a nice spot to go with friends.

First of all, I don't consider Bean Runner to be a coffee shop like Peekskill Coffee House so people shouldn't compare the two. The breakfast is good, simple and cheap, and their soups and sandwiches are great. Their soup is especially excellent. The restaurant is spotless and very inviting. Although I have been to Bean Runner at least a dozen of times I still don't know what it is. It seems to want to be a coffee shop, sandwich shop, child care center, art house, and jazz club all at the same time. Truthfully, I have a difficult time getting comfortable there. We usually just eat fast and leave which is probably why we only go there once every month or two. The owners have obviously done a great job creating the space and the food they offer is quite good. However, I think if they concentrated on 1 thing they could provide a much better experience. By the way, when I go to Bean Runner for breakfast I usually go to Peekskill Coffee right afterwards.

We went to the Bean Runner this afternoon with friends (a couple) who live in Peekskill, and we really liked it! The building is ca. 1850 and the owners did a *terrific* job of restoring it. The interior has exposed brick (original to the building), it's a good size, and it's quite attractive & comfortable. There's also a nice-sized patio, plus they have a large and brightly-colored (separate) children's area (I wish some other places had that....). The woman working there was very pleasant - and the owner stopped by at one point and we enjoyed meeting her. Our friends said there's sometimes jazz music. My husband & I had delicious iced coffee - but if we hadn't just eaten a big lunch, we would have loved to try some of their delicious-looking soups and/or desserts.

Nice place to stop for lunch near the Taconic State Parkway. We dropped in around 2 on a Tuesday and had soups and sandwiches with a glass of French Chardonnay. It's tough to find Manhattan Clam chowder in CA, so when I saw it as a special, I had to get it. Service was friendly and relaxed.
(4)Emily G.
Their sandwiches aren't the most creative out there, but the food is good and their soups are delicious. They have a vegetable soup with a ton of different veggies all in it which is really flavorful and perfect on a chilly day. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine there, but if I'm in town and I want something more substantial than a pastry from a coffee shop, I swing by the Bean Runner Cafe.
(3)A L.
Both the BeanRunner and Peekskill Coffee House have a lot to offer. If you're looking for coffee, I'd recommend the PCH over the BeanRunner, but if you're hungry, I would probably give BeanRunner the edge (although the new panini sandwich at PCH is good). Both are worth definitely worth checking out.

The BeanRunner Cafe is not just about good food (healthy, delicious soups, salads, sandwiches, and pastries) it's about community and support for local artists and art lovers. Evening programs include open mic poetry-readings, art exhibitions openings, jazz and other great music, artist-community salon events. There's a whole room dedicated to kid's parties, and a place for the young ones to play. The locals know that they can find each other here and talk about things that really matter. The chance to do that makes everything about the place comfortable and sustaining for body and mind!
(5)Sanjay S.
This is a nice new hangout place for families, especially those who have children (they have a separate spacious kids' playroom!!) or love nice ambiance with good food and wifi access. Their coffee is as good as Starbucks' and soups are delicious. They told me that also have live Jazz music on Friday and Sunday evenings.

Nice cozy place. Welcoming staff. Great music. The place is often filled to capacity so get there early.A Peekskill Landmark.
(5)Ellie J.
I came for live music on Friday evening. Needs to make reservation to be safe. Entrance fee was $10 pp. Small but very friendly atmosphere. Menus are limited with soup and sandwich, but they serve sangria and wines. Small Pitcher of sangria was $22 but it was tasty. I ordered fresh fruit crepes which was very dry and rough. I felt like I was chewing dry felt. I needed serious knife work to cut the crepes. Live music was worth to wait and very much enjoyed. Well named musician comes to share their passion about music which is great opportunity for us but I got disappointed with foods.
(3)Sandor B.
It seems that when ever I head out for a quick breakfast I end up at the BeanRunner Cafe. Quick service, Great Prices, Quality Food. What more can you ask for!
(5)Kay S.
Cute place for a light bite to eat, some wine, and coffee/tea all while enjoying live jazz. Quaint & casual atmosphere where you feel like you're friends with everyone around you.

In Theory - a perfect place. After dinner to stop by - listen to soft jazz while sipping coffee or wine on a cold winter evening - nice. In Reality - mixed feelings. We enjoyed the music yet found the tables a bit tight and uncomfortable. In fairness everyone's winter clothing attire didn't help the situation. What needs work here is the service. There's plenty of help however no one seems to know what they're doing. In our party of six two (2) orders of Chardonnay arrived as Cabernet. Two shared dessert orders arrived - with one (1) fork - well after the ordered coffees. Upon clean-up plates / utensils falling on ones lap - hectic scene. These issues were noticed at other tables as well. All that aside - The cozy BeanRunner Cafe provides a nice after dinner option as everyone in our party enjoyed the music. More of these type of establishments would be welcome in Westchester

What a let down this place was. Stopping by on a Saturday night, the first thing we were asked was if we were here for the show and that it was $10. We were just coming from the Hudson Room and only wanted coffee. Being that they wanted $10 per person to take a seat, we were unable to stay a while. Regardless, I ordered a latte, which was a little unimaginative and just "alright". Around the corner, you'd get a miniature work of art swirled in the foam, which really doesn't affect the coffee, but adds a little playful twist on things; here, nothing. So many of the restaurants offer free entertainment on the weekends, along with live performances outside. If you're into the music scene here, then $10 is probably a great value, but if you are truly in it for the coffee, you'd be better off going to the Peekskill Coffee House. Ironically, still wanting to linger, we ended up lingering outside the Coffee House, regretting not getting our coffees from there in the first place.

I've had the pleasure of eating at the bean runner and the food is good and the live entertainment is great. It's very close to home and you can't ask for more. Thank you Bean Runner for bringing talent & good food together...

This a great little spot for lunch, close to work with wonderful atmosphere and staff. I love the 200 Meter, always so flavorful! I keep meaning to try other things, but I'm hopelessly addicted.

"F" Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks, etc. This place is a prime example of why a community needs to support quality local businesses. Notice that I said "quality"...I don't think one should shop locally at any cost, especially where the product or service is poor. But here is a case where the product and service and offerings (live music/comedy nights/etc.) are not lacking in the least. And, the owner Ted gives back to the community, particularly the youth of this community, in countless ways with no expectations of accolades or pay.
(5)Robert Y.
I've seen some really amazing bands play here and I generally like the place. The problem is the food. The music is mostly in the evenings and I need to eat dinner. I would love to go to the Beanrunner for dinner and music but there isn't really much to eat unless you want a sandwich for dinner. If they could upgrade the menu I would be there more often. I'm not saying it has to be fancy but even if they had a tapas selection it would make it so much more appealing.
(4)Jason T.
More of a restaurant than a coffee shop. So nice for breakfast or lunch with a good coffee. Also the staff weren't very friendly. They don't have many bakery items, no sconces for example.
(2)Jon K.
The owner is a great guy and the food is good and the entertainment is varied and excellent, also the help is friendly and helpful. Although I am not really a coffee drinker my sister kept going there and said it was great. I went there last week to the I have a Dream speech for MLK's Bday it was a great idea and excellent. Peekskill is a great little town, we should give the Bean Runner and the town all the support we can.
