Was in the mood for some fried whiting and unfortunately, there are no spots around by me. I came across this location and it is conveniently accessible via the 2 train...just steps from the Bank that is on the corner on the Uptown side of the street. It is a small space and very clean. You place your order at a window and they bring it out to you once prepared. I ordered the fried whiting with greens, mac & cheese and the corn bread. The fish (8 pieces) was very well seasoned...crisp (also a to go order so it was definitely fried hard for it to maintain the shape after a 30 minute travel) and still hot upon arrival. The greens were surprisingly flavorful (sans pork but still had a nice flavor to them...and not sweet like some places prepare them) and the mac and cheese was decent...I thought it would be a lil more stringy, cheesey since they use 7 diff. cheeses but it was still tasty. The corn bread was nice & big, dense, hot and BUTTERED well. Your fish is made fresh to order so be prepared to wait a while. At the time that I went, after work hours, there was only one other lady there besides myself. I'd definitely go back to try their porgy.

Service: Kev, the owner, is such a genuinely attentive and personable guy. He greets each of his customers and knows nearly everyone that walks in. Now for the food: We spent the entire day walking around the Botanical Gardens and were famished. Not only did everything we order hit the spot but the portions are huge, prices are great, the quality is top notch and everything is made to order. Kev boasts that they never use a microwave or have anything frozen in the kitchen. All the ingredients are fresh. And you can taste it. Everything we ordered was delicious! We had the fried catfish, shrimp, candied Yams & cornbread. I will definitely be back...especially for the cornbread! Biggest and best cornbread I've had in a long time.

I think I'm going to have to write this place off on my taxes next year, thats how much Ive bought from this place since I tried it!!! I have over 3 years living in this neighborhood and Ive just NOW discovered this place. I haven't gone back to City Island since. This is hands down the best seafood place I've tasted. I love how local mom/pop feel to it. They stick to what they do best which is the food! The seasoning to their food is amazing!!! They give you plenty of food per plate. By the way did I mentioned that their seasoning to their food is delicious?!?!?!? The owner is very sweet! Very friendly staff as well. I cant think of any complaints! It could be pricy but not overly pricy considering its seafood. Thats the only thing I can think of. FYI they don't deliver, otherwise i would probably buy it even more often!

I absolutely love their fried fish sandwich. For 5 bucks, it will get you three fish fillets fried and seasoned to perfection and a choice of whole wheat bread or whites to go along with it. I discovered this place on Yelp after visiting my friend in the Bronx and decided to go there as seafood and I have a strong love affair. The restaurant is small but very clean which is a plus. You can see inside the kitchen too so you know how everything is prepared. The staff are friendly and service is quick. This is definitely a place that I'll come back to whenever I visit my friend again!

So I was craving soul food and stumbled upon this restaurant via yelp. Had to check it out. Oh my God!!! Words cant describe how satisfied I was. I ordered whiting dinner with mac and cheese, greens, and side order of wings. The mac and cheese was nothing shorter than amazing. Greens was really good. Whiting was a tad bit salty but still good. The wings were good. Hands down you must try this place out. I can guarantee you will be satisfied.

UGH!!! NO LOVE was put in my food... It must have been an off night! I read all the reviews on how the fish was so good and the cornbread was to die for and how much love was put in the food ...NOT THIS TIME AND NOT FOR ME!!!! Got the fried fish sandwich and it SMELLED LIKE OLD OIL!!! I thought it was my imagination, but as I waited for my catfish platter to come ...I could smell the oil and it was old! The fish took about 45 minutes to come out. Not a smile or a thank you for waiting so long! The mean girl grunted when I asked for more tartar sauce and there was no THANK YOU COME AGAIN (and I WON'T) when I gave my money to pay for this horrible food. When I got it home I noticed that the fish on the out side was cooked but it wasn't cooked through... so the insde of the catfish was wet and soft...NOT GOOD!!!! The fish sandwich was also wet on the inside and almost RAW!!! Couldn't have been because they were in a hurry... at least not to cook MY food. The mean girl was even meaner to another person waiting for his food. He was double parked and was anxious about getting a ticket... She threw his meal to him like a DOG playing catch! WOW... I KNOW FISH... LOOK AT ME!!! This was NOT GOOD FISH! Save your money McDonald's is right down the way...

Seafood fresh and made to order. They put love into the food. The portions are huge too. The cornbread is sooo good and so is the mac and cheese. Since things are prepared fresh to order its a little wait but well worth it

Tried most everything on the menu. It's all fresh every day, all natural, everything is made in house. Very generous portion sizes and amazing food. I'll eat virtually anything, grilled, broiled, or fried from here. This is the best seafood in the city. Some of my personal favorites are the scallops (grilled or fried), grilled salmon, fried shrimp, and fried whiting. All the sides are excellent, but the seafood is what separates this place from everything else around. Never get tired of eating here. The people are personable and professional and the food is as good as it gets.

Great place for seafood.... Clean, great service, reasonably price, great variety. Ive been there a few times and have now introduced my co-workers. The steamed selections of fish and vegetables are excellent. It even smells clean...... They must have a serious ventilation system installed because just walking in you would never know they are even cooking. It has become one of my favorite places.

This food is excellent!!!! Me and my coworkers tried it on Thursday and had to go back on Friday!!!! I think my critique about this place is the service is a little slow even when you call ahead of time. And I think they should take the names of customers so when they come for pickup they don't have to repeat their order. Other than that...again the food is excellent. I'm planning on trying everything on the menu. OH AND THEY SHOULD HAVE DELIVERY!!!! THEY WOULD MAKE A KILLING AT THE NEW YORK BOTANICAL

I can't say enough positive about this place! I dream about the fried catfish all week. The seafood is fresh and excellently seasoned. It's primarily a family restaurant- take-out style with booths if you want to eat in. The owner, KJ, is super friendly and you will have a great time talking to him. He started this business on his own and trains his staff to follow his original recipes. You won't be disappointed. ... Umm... They don't use curry in their food

I absolutely love this place! It's called love at first taste. From the moment I walked through the door today to the second I left with the food teasing my nose, I knew that this place would become a favorite. The prices are quite reasonable. Large portioned fresh fish sandwich for $5. The owner took my order and explained to me their philosophy and process. This isn't your regular neighborhood fish spot. They have much more and I could immediately tell that they take great pride in the freshness and taste of their food. Everything... seasoned very well. I moved to this area from the heart of Harlem and have been looking for restaurants, bars, brunch spots everything to help me get acclimated to the Bronx. Simply Seafood is a high caliber restaurant. To put the icing on the cake, I had the chance to taste the mac and cheese, collard greens, and candied yams. DELICIOUS!! All of it. VERY tasty. I tried the mac and cheese before leaving the restaurant and my eyes widened with surprise. MY taste buds... Oh my goodness. The yams have a great texture and flavor (not just syrupy sweet, although these are also syrupy sweet). And, the collard greens are like something I've never had. Smoky and tender. Whoo! I pondered how this review will go during my commute home. I'm definitely going back for more. Thoroughly shocked and awed by the deliciousness of this food and great service. This place is a must try. My new favorite.

Omg just stopped by for lunch and all I have to say is AMAZING. The fried whiting rice and beans mac n cheese with potato salad was 16.50 and worth every dime. (I didnt want veggies this time around lol) So flavorful fish fresh, the mac n cheese taste like big momma in the back baking it. Happy that there is a great alternative to the many fast food spots in the area.

Simply Seafood, simply delicious!!! Was headed to the train and a friend suggested we stop in. Counter service was excellent. She asked if this was our first time and since it was, she gave us side samples of the 7 cheese mac and cheese, candied yams and greens and I was hooked. I ordered those three things, 2 whiting sandwiches and a 12 shrimp to take home for me and my daughter. Everything is made to order, so it took a little longer than normal carryout, but boy was it worth the wait. While we were waiting, my friend's car was almost towed (don't park in McDonald's parking lot! She still had to pay to get it put down.) and someone was raving about the cornbread. As my order was being prepared, I ordered some cornbread and the red velvet cupcakes (why not...I've already passed gluttonous territory). Can I say, I took a cab home because I felt someone might fight me for my food if I got on the train? It smelled that good!! Can I say, it tasted even better!!! I have not been this excited by food in a while. Everything tasted fresh, everything was well seasoned and delicious. Here's the breakdown: cornbread (warm, moist, sweet-awesome), mac and cheese (7 cheeses!-need I say more), greens (fresh, bright, just right) , candied yams (eat them with the greens-yum!), shrimp (tender, juicy, nicely seasoned), whiting was fresh and seasoned well. Soooo good!!! Lots of food, so I have leftovers for later or tomorrow. This is my new go to seafood spot.

This is a good spot for seafood when I went there I had the Steamed salmon in garlic butter with brocolli. It was amazing. It's best to call your odee in before you go unless you don't mind waiting. (Long wait) I also had there sweet tea which was ridiculously sweet omg. Way too much sugar. Overall the service is good and the food is good it's just a long wait.

This is a real soul food place. It is the best kept secret in the Bronx. I WILL recommend Simply Seafood to anyone. I actually didn't cook this Christmas. I always cook on Christmas. I am taking a break this year. I decided to buy from Simply Seafood and I saved money. If the food is good, people won't mine spending money.
